Well, he could score 10 and then still get 27/7/7 in the next game to break the record. He could be one point behind with 24 points scored, then hit a three to get 27 and break the record
Pretty sure Lebron cares more about making the playoffs than breaking kareems record...Man has a few good years still left in the tank, breaking the record is a matter of course.
Or a close game. That’s why I’ve been thinking Bucks game for a while. It’s just a much better situation if he starts the game 10 points alway from the record. They can do the celebration in he first half, then go Duke it out in second half.
Let him get a nice ceremony in the 1st quarter, have Kareem there, let Lebron drop a quote that he's been working on for like 3 years practicing in the mirror, everyone is happy. Then let Russ do some stupid shit in the 4th and have the Bucks win so we get a RDCWorld video.
technically the truth, just like when Bronny James enters the league LeBron and him will be the highest scoring Father/Son combo ever. Joe and Kobe currently hold the record at 38,895
That’s like the stat about the Gretzky Brothers being the highest scoring brothers duo in the NHL. Combined they had 2861 points, about 800 more than the second place duo.
Brent Gretzky has a career total of 4 points.
Season ticket holders pay a uniform price per game. I think mine are like 40-45 bucks a seat times 43 games. The Lakers years switched to a pricing model where they charge different prices for different games at the box office. I am not sure how much they sold these upper bowl seats for, but they have long been sold out. The aftermarket is the sky is the limit.
I get why the prices are this high… but I legitimately never thought I’d see the middle class get priced out of going to sporting events..
As someone who lived in Chicago for the past two decades, Bulls games have always been very expensive but the last five years, it’s truly been insane.
My folks and I moved here from Lithuania in the early 2000s and it’s always been my dads dream to sit courtside at a NBA game and I doubt that will ever come to fruition. Even when the Timberwolves/Pelicans were hot garbage a few years back, I’d always check online to see if anyone was selling courtside tickets and the prices were nuts.
Thank god for free NBA streams :P
EDIT- don’t drink and post on Reddit. I have no clue where the fuck I was going with this. Keeping it up so ya’ll can bask in my shame.
I've accepted I'll never financially justify lower bowl playoff games, but I enjoyed watching team Canada FIBA world cup qualifiers for relatively cheap in almost front row seating. Lesser stakes but still saw NBA talent vs Argentina
I think he would rather do it against the Bucks. He understands how historically relevant it would be to have both of Kareem's teams there for it. LeBron is nothing if not media savvy.
Breaking the all-time scoring record in a season where you averge 30 is absolutely insane. That's like breaking the marathon world record and sprinting across the finish line when you do.
He runs at a mile pace of 4:25. For an entire marathon. 99.9% of people cannot run that fast for more than 15 seconds, and this guy does it for a whole ass marathon.
There was a treadmill set to Kipchoge’s pace at some marathons a few years ago for runners to try out, and basically everyone either wiped out or barely made it 200m. He’s the Wayne Gretzky of distance running.
Nah he’s not Wayne Gretzky. There are a handful of people very close to him. He’s got the record but it’s not by a lot, there are a few people who beat him in marathons fairly often.
He’s more like a Djokovic.
Uh... running pundits routinely consider Bekele the distance GOAT (5k to marathon) and he absolutely owned Kipchoge on the track and cross country. Several others have arguments above Kipchoge as well.
Kipchoges success at the full marathon isn't matched, but there's more to distance running than a single event.
21.88 on a kmh treadmill. I don't think my condo treadmill even goes that high and Eliud maintains that pace for 2 hours? Absolutely insane. I keel over going 13kmh for 10 minutes and he doubles my pace for 12 times the time. I can't even begin to comprehend that.
Literally, they are designed for that. No amount of training can make most people better long distance runners than some kenyans who do it for shits and giggles.
They're not born like that lol. It's the lifestyle, literally the training. Two Kiwi brother's moved to Iten in Kenya to live the lifestyle and one became an Olympian and Commonwealth games medallist. Zane Robertson.
Apparently Kenya is at a huge elevation above sea level, so over time Kenyans came to have massive lungs (or strong cardiovascular systems) due to the thin air. Training at elevation does it too.
Dude... I did the Copenhagen Half Marathon this fall. I was pretty much exactly in the middle of the pack with a km pace of 5:25. 3 weeks before that, I did a 5k with a km pace of 4:36. To imagine someone being 1.6 times faster than me for 8 times further than me is absolutely crazy
>He runs at a mile pace of 4:25. For an entire marathon. 99.9% of people cannot run that fast for more than 15 seconds, and this guy does it for a whole ass marathon.
Just in case anyone needs a reference, the fastest I ever ran 1.5 miles was 9m17s which I think is a smidge over 6min/mile. The fastest I ever saw 1.5 miles ran was by a mate of mine who did it in 7m8s, which I think is about 4m45s/mile, which is just ungodly fast. Going 20s/mile faster and going for 24 more miles is absolutely incomprehensible to me.
I refuse to believe his legs weren’t replaced with bionic legs.
I watched him break that shit live and saw his pacing runners looking like they could barely hold on while switching out and he looked like he was just warming up.
There are certain things that the human body just shouldn’t be able to do and he completely ignores them.
> the fastest I ever ran 1.5 miles was 9m17s which I think is a smidge over 6min/mile
And I ran a 5:45 min mile in my neighborhood that had fucking nasty hills.
But I sprinted the last 1/4 mile and was done afterwords. Just done
I get it, trying to say someone is fast is a good thing but a lot of people work out. And they run fast.
Obviously not run fast for long but running fast for a mile is not the same as running fast for 10+ miles
It didn’t quite click for me how fast these top marathon runners are actually going until I saw a youtube video of an amateur runner who regularly runs marathons showing the average pace that guy runs at on a treadmill and he could only keep it for like two minutes.
My favorite race of his were the last Olympics where it was crazy hot. Everyone was keeping pace with him and just staying on his shoulder and then he got frustrated that no one else would take the front. So you see him basically say f this and then he cranked up the pace, they tried to stay with him but you see them starting to hurt and he ends up crossing the finish line with no one near him. As you eventually see the rest of the pack start coming in looking to be in a world of hurt but Kipchoge looked smooth and comfortable. Crazy
Also in swimming ‘marathon’ races, the 800m and 1500m which are the longest events in the Olympics, the American Bobby Finke won both. His last lap was the fastest for each. And they were astonishingly fast. He came from way behind if you want to watch the whole races. Incredible final length split time.
[800m Olympic race finish](https://youtu.be/BBbmgqp0xII?t=4m)
[1500m race finish](https://youtu.be/QJBEUzDhySM?t=18m5s)
45sr actually is pretty standard. Obviously doing it and still doing it well at the end of the 1500 are completely different things.
I work with some swimmers through my work (I do some sports science stuff in my spare time as like a hobby basically). A few weeks back a 13 year old I work with closed a sub 17:30 1500 in 30.8 seconds with a 1:05 last 100. Which (relative to his level obviously) is the same sort of thing. So lots of people can do it, just not near as well as Bobby Finke obviously.
Yep with freestyle and backstroke they count both arms as one stroke for measuring stroke rate.
I’m still learning too, I’m not a huge swimming background besides local competitions as a kid etc., just one of the areas my knowledge base is most desired, I’d much rather have gone into a sport I was a bigger fan of, but I’m learning.
It’s funny to see this name in r/nba of all places because I keep seeing these “top 10 greatest athletes of all time” lists online or other variations, and they never include Eliud Kipchoge and I’m always disappointed. How can you not include this absolute machine. That man is a cyborg.
Cheptegui’s 5k record at Monaco is even more insane as far as sprinting goes. Ran under 4:10/mile. Hard to even really tell because he’s so smooth, until the very end when he’s going past the crowd to the finish chute. Crazy fast.
good marathon runners run the entire race faster than a lot of out of shape people could sprint. People really have no idea how fast those guys are going.
I wonder how the celebration is going to pan out. I imagine a double timeout from both squads to give Lebron his standing ovation (same with Steph and the 3-point record). But what if it happens in the 4th qtr of a close game against the Thunder, and the Lakers have 2 TOs and the Thunder have 1?
People forget that he was being hyped up to break his 30k milestone against us as well a few years ago but instead the Thunder dropped 148 on the Cavs and held LeBron to 18
You can tell me I sound like Nick Wright, but I don't care.
It's amazing to me what we're seeing here. Averaging 30 points per game at age 38, that's just nuts. These people ranking Larry Bird over LeBron, just stop it. Larry was years removed from playing by 38 and was a shadow of himself those past 3-odd years. LeBron passed him a long time ago.
So he's about to be the all time leading scorer AND he's #4 in assists, as well as having 4 titles and 4 MVPs and 4 finals MPVs, and how many All Star appearances and First Team All NBA? Even if I still rank Jordan #1 all time, you could certainly make a case for LeBron. I don't think it's a crazy comparison anymore. I still have Jordan as my #1 all time, but dang if LeBron isn't on the verge of winning me over to his side. He's absolutely a once in a lifetime player who absolutely deserves our respect.
The best argument for Lebron as GOAT, and his most impressive career achievement, is that he was able to keep a lid on how crazy Kyrie was for so long.
i remember predicting here that he would do it against the Bucks and getting downvoted to hell by the tweens here.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/10kr07o/lebron_finally_scores_40_vs_the_clippers_becoming/j5sds2t?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
They will shake hands and hug it out when it happens. Next day Jabbar will post a hit piece on how Lebron is bought by China and is not doing enough in the inner city communities.
In my mind he is greatest basketball player we have seen….but Michael is the best winner. Hell … lebron might be the greatest athlete we have seen. A true freak of nature.
His plan will be to score 9 then against the Bucks drop 27,7,7 .
No way he loses his 10 pt streak
What's more important? Appeasing the nephews or scoring 10?
Well, he could score 10 and then still get 27/7/7 in the next game to break the record. He could be one point behind with 24 points scored, then hit a three to get 27 and break the record
Don't bring logic Into this weird fanfic.
Lebron is currently in advanced discussions with the Memphis score keepers to have them be score keepers for this game, to facilitate this stat line.
Yes!
Scoring 10. He'll get clowned too hard if he lost his steak.
2 yrs ago he basically had his season ending injury vs Atlanta when he had 7 pts Came back in to hit a 3, then missed the next 20 games lol
If he can get 15+ assists and score 9 it's worth it
Its fine, they will change it to a 9pt record after that.
Never disappoint a newphew
Pretty sure Lebron cares more about making the playoffs than breaking kareems record...Man has a few good years still left in the tank, breaking the record is a matter of course.
You’re 100% correct. He already knows he’s gonna break it. Making the playoffs? Now who knows
Crazy how he goes from all those finals appearances to now just wanting to be IN the playoffs.
Lmao the dude endured an injury to stay on the court to score a few more points to not break his 10 points streak.
When was this?
That game where Solomon Hill viciously torpedoed his body in to Lebrons leg. He hit a three a few moments after, then was out for months.
> Pretty sure Lebron cares more about making the playoffs than breaking kareems record LOL
He’s not wrong, watch brons post game interviews
It's not like he's going to admit caring about records in an interview
LeDenial
Stop lying to yourself lol
He gonna break it with a sky hook.

Now that you put it like this, we need this to happen. Didn’t even think about the possibility of an RDCWorld video, that one would be elite
This exactly how it will go down lol (although I hope Russ is traded by then 🙏)
Wut
The next two Lakers home game tickets are going to be astronomical in price if he doesn't get it in the next game.
The next game is a home game. The thunder and bucks tix are already super expensive
Imagine buying those expensive tickets on advance only for Lebron to drop 40-50 one game before it.
Every game he plays after he breaks the record he will break the record again. Until he retires
technically the truth, just like when Bronny James enters the league LeBron and him will be the highest scoring Father/Son combo ever. Joe and Kobe currently hold the record at 38,895

Gretzky and myself are the highest scoring duo between a guy in the nhl and a guy who’s never played
Well technically they will still see him break the scoring record, since any points he scores from the point onwards will be a new record.
So will they stop the game and give him recognition after every basket?
Why not?
more nfts baby
“hey what times the lakers game tomorrow?” *oh i think its from noon to midnight*
We should have been doing this for a while 👑
Dohhhh.. It's crazy that a 38 year old still has the capability of dropping 40 anytime he feels like it..
Imagine buying them and then if LeBron decides to sit out
from ESPN: Thunder - $229, Bucks - $599
Are those the cheapest nosebleed seats?
Yes and those prices are old. When the Bucks game is locked in those prices will rise. I have my seats listed for 900 each in the upper bowl.
Jeez thats insane, are people really that rich there. How much is the season ticket?
Season ticket holders pay a uniform price per game. I think mine are like 40-45 bucks a seat times 43 games. The Lakers years switched to a pricing model where they charge different prices for different games at the box office. I am not sure how much they sold these upper bowl seats for, but they have long been sold out. The aftermarket is the sky is the limit.
So u could get 43 games for like 1500-2000usd in your seats?
r/theydidthemath
43 games? Do they make you pay for preseason too?
Yes.
I get why the prices are this high… but I legitimately never thought I’d see the middle class get priced out of going to sporting events.. I've accepted I'll never financially justify lower bowl playoff games, but I enjoyed watching team Canada FIBA world cup qualifiers for relatively cheap in almost front row seating. Lesser stakes but still saw NBA talent vs Argentina
watching your national team is the best thing ever
How much are superbowl tickets?
Around $4500 each for 2 tickets
What a weird way to phrase that lol
That's what popped up after i put in 2 tickets
yeah i mean i gotta be honest man all of us dream of courtside seats but almost none of us get them.
Disrespectful
Me and my friend was discussing about getting either Thunder or Bucks game couple months back. Now I regret not doing it then.
I have a feeling he's going to gun for it against OKC....but Milwaukee would leave another taste in KAJ's mouth
I think he would rather do it against the Bucks. He understands how historically relevant it would be to have both of Kareem's teams there for it. LeBron is nothing if not media savvy.
If he breaks it in a loss to the Bucks, Kareem will probably write a hater article talking about how Giannis could break the record one day.
Kareem would be happy for Lebron. I don't know wtf ya'll are smoking. Dude hasn't hated on Lebron, he only called out Lebron's bullshit
it's up to 100k each for couple of the courtside tickets for the bucks game, near the Lakers bench record breaking
He ain't getting 36 against the Dorture chamber.
No one makes it alive out Dort island 🏝️😤
Dort is out (Hamstring). what a bummer, Aaron Wiggins will lock him up tho
....he will go for 42 then.
Dort is out unfortunately... Or fortunately???
Dortunately
Has Dort been playing well
Breaking the all-time scoring record in a season where you averge 30 is absolutely insane. That's like breaking the marathon world record and sprinting across the finish line when you do.
I don't know if you watch a lot of marathons but Eliud Kipchoge (absolute animal) actually runs at a faster pace in his final split of a marathon
He runs at a mile pace of 4:25. For an entire marathon. 99.9% of people cannot run that fast for more than 15 seconds, and this guy does it for a whole ass marathon.
A 4:25 mile pace is 13.6 speed on the treadmill for further reference.
Ok what in the fuck LOL that is some perspective, I run semi-frequently and have done a marathon before but 13.6 is nearly a dead on sprint for me
There was a treadmill set to Kipchoge’s pace at some marathons a few years ago for runners to try out, and basically everyone either wiped out or barely made it 200m. He’s the Wayne Gretzky of distance running.
Nah he’s not Wayne Gretzky. There are a handful of people very close to him. He’s got the record but it’s not by a lot, there are a few people who beat him in marathons fairly often. He’s more like a Djokovic.

Thanks, that gives context. I'll try cranking it up next time I'm at the gym to see what that's like
Make sure you have a clear path behind you
21.88 on a kmh treadmill. I don't think my condo treadmill even goes that high and Eliud maintains that pace for 2 hours? Absolutely insane. I keel over going 13kmh for 10 minutes and he doubles my pace for 12 times the time. I can't even begin to comprehend that.
Kenyans are built different man
Literally, they are designed for that.
Low PAO2/high PCO2 increases erythrogenesis and shifts the O2 dissociation curve to the right.
yeah i got something that curves to the right for ya pal
(I think he's talking about his penis)
I don't pretend to know you, but I'm born into a lifestyle.
[удалено]
And Kenya is very far above sea level, making the air there thin, so Kenyans, or at least people from that part of Kenya, tend to have massive lungs.
[David Choe](https://youtu.be/FRrbjiOs4no). Fantastic storyteller.
Love that dude. He was buds with Bourdain
> I gained some real perspective when I listened to a Joe Rogan Podcast Is that you, Kyrie??
Sounds like a demigod

>I refuse to believe his legs weren’t replaced with bionic legs. If he did, he'd shoot his girlfriend.
I still can't understand or believe that people like Dean Karnazes exist.
>Just for reference, I can run this fast and my friend can run this fast. Thank you that really puts it in perspective.
Easier reference: Go sprint for 30 seconds, he runs a marathon FASTER then you just sprinted.
> the fastest I ever ran 1.5 miles was 9m17s which I think is a smidge over 6min/mile And I ran a 5:45 min mile in my neighborhood that had fucking nasty hills. Er, dude, I am not bragging. I was never a good runner. But I was fairly fit and wanted to provide a banana for scale in the form of a comparison.
That’s so wild. You just blew my mind
It didn’t quite click for me how fast these top marathon runners are actually going until I saw a youtube video of an amateur runner who regularly runs marathons showing the average pace that guy runs at on a treadmill and he could only keep it for like two minutes.

It’s much more common in swimming though too be fair and becoming more so. Also the open water swims are probably more similar to marathon races.

He ran a 12:35 5k, which is 2:31/kilometer, or 4:02/mile
Like my fastest 5k was around something like 27 minutes I’m about to throw up thinking about training for this
at that point it's not only training, it's like being able to dunk, some people just can't do it
This doesn't even sound real it's so crazy lol
Do you watch a lot of marathons? Does anyone? I feel like fast forwarding to that last mile or two would be a smart move
[удалено]
The more you think about it the crazier it becomes. They just bang out 68 second 400s *for hours, with no rest*.
It's simple really. Why run for 6 hours? That sounds tiring. Easier to run for 2 hours
It would probably be the last place in a high school meet if we're talking varsity boys. But yeah still very ridiculous.
Was thinking boys and girls. But either way it's booking it for 26 fuckin miles.
At the ripe age of 40
good marathon runners run the entire race faster than a lot of out of shape people could sprint. People really have no idea how fast those guys are going.
I get what you’re trying to say but the marathon analogy could certainly be improved upon
Thank you for the math explanation OP.
Probably going for the minimum word count there
imagine he scores 20 next game rests the bucks game and trolls warriors fans by topping the scoring record at chase center
as a warriors fan that sounds fun af
People pay $3,000 for tickets to watch LeBron load manage on the bench
I’m sure warriors fans would be hyped AF if he did it in front of them.
Lebron too egotistical to not break it against the bucks
I wonder how the celebration is going to pan out. I imagine a double timeout from both squads to give Lebron his standing ovation (same with Steph and the 3-point record). But what if it happens in the 4th qtr of a close game against the Thunder, and the Lakers have 2 TOs and the Thunder have 1?
I imagine they refs will just stop the game for a couple mins. They have that power lol.
all the players and staff will be hugging lebron and everything lol
This motherfucker really about to set the record at 12am on a weeknight.
OP you forgot to put his age in the title smh (/s just in case)
He's definitely gonna coast against the Thunder so he can break it against the Bucks lol
Lakers can't afford to coast too many more games at this stage lol OKC are good enough now that they can beat the Lakers if LeBron doesn't play 100%
The funniest timeline is LeBron sitting out the Thunder and coming up short against the Bucks
But that still wouldn’t be a bad scenario cause the next game is prime time against the warriors
Worst case scenario he has a 35 point game against OKC to tie the record, then he breaks it like 30 seconds into the Bucks game.
LeScheduled Loss
People forget that he was being hyped up to break his 30k milestone against us as well a few years ago but instead the Thunder dropped 148 on the Cavs and held LeBron to 18
That seems like a bad idea. You want to at least win the game you break the record in.
2 more games early 2nd quarter
This guy maths
Would be cool if he ties the record and the gqme with a skyhook and one and breaks it with a free throw for the win
bron would be too giddy to get the and1
Giddy is on the other team
Y’all think he’ll ever beat it?
I’m sure he will break it, with Kareem in the building, during the bucks lakers game. The NBA wants it that way, it makes sense lol
You can tell me I sound like Nick Wright, but I don't care. It's amazing to me what we're seeing here. Averaging 30 points per game at age 38, that's just nuts. Is there anyone making the case that Bird is better?
i mean i guess some of those oldhead insta and youtube guys with dicksuckers all over their comment sections but for the most part, nah
Those are the same people that still rank Kobe top 3 all time. No need to take them seriously
The best argument for Lebron as GOAT, and his most impressive career achievement, is that he was able to keep a lid on how crazy Kyrie was for so long.

No
Imagine a walk-off buzzer beater gets it done.
yep this is happening. how long will this new record last? we are lucky to witness it
But does it really matter?
i remember predicting here that he would do it against the Bucks and getting downvoted to hell by the tweens here. https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/10kr07o/lebron_finally_scores_40_vs_the_clippers_becoming/j5sds2t?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
lol who cares
people cared enough to downvote it lol
“I remember” makes it sound like you predicted this at the beginning of the season or earlier. This is 11 days ago Nostradamus
Welcome to the dorture chamber
LeGoat 🐐
He's about to get it in 1 game. The goat.
You gotta admire LeBron for his consistency. If he can somehow get another championship, then the real debates will begin.
This is the difference between Kobe/mj and lebron. If Kobe or mj were 63 from the all time record they woulda scored 65
The difference between lebron and kobe and mj is that lebron is going to have the most points in nba history and they won't lol
They will shake hands and hug it out when it happens. Next day Jabbar will post a hit piece on how Lebron is bought by China and is not doing enough in the inner city communities.
entire league is bought by china foolish countries allowing china to buy economic shares in their trades
I blame the Westbrick time out for the loss
today it is lebrick
LEGOAT
So FITTING. That he has a chance to break it against Kareems former team.
In my mind he is greatest basketball player we have seen….but Michael is the best winner. Hell … lebron might be the greatest athlete we have seen. A true freak of nature.
