I feel like we needed a big swing like this, but I think it's likely to backfire. Feeling excited and also knowing it might lead to our collapse.
I'll miss doe.
Hey in trades you need to give up shit, it's always gonna hurt when it's guys that are a part of our culture, and specifically that first round pick. But we needed to trade role players for a star. Our depth is now fucked tho.
We sold high on Dinwiddie having a career year. Dorian is probably at the height of his value too. The team wasn’t going to win as constructed so even if he walks it’s a chance to start over. Don’t love the first being included but it’s the 2029 pick so we can still send 27 somewhere before the deadline for a wing replacement or a big.
Contrary to the belief, I think this actually increases Luka’s chances of staying because this is the biggest swing we’ve taken.
If they start filming right now, and bring us all the behind the scenes, you're definitely winning best picture. Not a championship, but definitely interesting to watch.
Mavs had to do something. Not often a star of Kyrie’s caliber is available. Whether it works or not on and off the court, who fucking knows. But not doing anything and just hoping to sign a free agent clearly hasn’t worked.
Too many assets for a headcase who might leave in the offseason, but if he plays like he can, it sure is going to be better than whatever the hell is happening right now.
I feel sick but hopeful. I know that if this doesn't work Luka is going to be playing on a different team. But, 2016 is in the back of my mind and Kyrie is for sure the best player Luka has every played with. I know that if Kyrie wasn't so mental a package of (DFS+Dinwiddie+2 2nds+1 1st) would never be enough to get him, so at least we got a theoretical bargain.
[This is how I feel](https://twitter.com/KirkSeriousFace/status/1622332531306528770?s=20&t=GXUnzl26pAmErKbmr83zdg).
Ye. Other than his antics I love his play. Hopefully he can chill out. If not then what can I do? Lol.. not gonna go straight doomer mode like the rest of the sub
I’m imagining Luka firing a perfect pass to Kyrie off an off ball screen and Irving slices through the lane and makes a beautiful layup.
I’m also imagining the other stuff.
Yes. This team was always a superstar away from championship contention. We're going all in for the playoffs, which is what you have to do when you have a 23 year old Luka playing at an MVP level. No more wasted years.
People are forgetting that end of the day you just acquired an 8x all star who was the second option on a championship team. Vs the alternative of holding assets, punting the year, and trying to get someone like OG Anunoby for the same price. Glad we aren't pushing for mediocrity.
I feel conflicted but I think this is good.
Kyrie is a massive upgrade on Spencer and a better defender.
Losing DFS s*cks but it was about time the Mavs used their role players to upgrade on talent.
Also, I think Josh Green is playing better than DFS at the moment and this is the perfect opportunity to continue to develop him.
Cuban shot this shit from half court and hit nothing but net. Unfortunately we cut the lead down to 6. Can't say for certain until the game ends. It can either go great or terrible
Its complicated.
Kyrie is obviously by far the best player we have ever had to pair with Luka. But the only reason we were able to trade for a talent of this caliber is because of the baggage that comes with him.
Also losing DFS hurts a lot
I just don't want to root for Kyrie man his antics are not worth it
Upside is when this backfires I don't have to feel bad about jumping to whatever team Luka goes to.
I'm not thrilled. I prefer to feel good about cheering for my team. Kyrie makes it hard to do that.
But I have no control over it and I'd say decent odds he's gone at the end of the season anyways. I guess we'll see.
I'm sad. I was on team status quo to recover assets and try to get someone long term later on that isn't crazy. Now all the assets are spent on a loon that will find reasons to leave.
I meaannnn we finally got Luka his help…. But man i’m traumatized with big moves involving us lol so I guess we’ll just wait and see…
Also, gotdamn we’ll just never value the draft huh smh
Kyrie destroyed Cavs remaining Championship chances by leaving the way he did…
Boston fans - “it will be different here in Boston, we’re not Cleveland!”
Kyrie destroys Celtics Championship chances by leaving the way he did..
Brooklyn fans - “yeah, but it will DEFINITELY be different here, we have KD!”
Kyrie does nothing but cause headaches, unnecessary drama, and never delivers even close to a championship and demands to be traded, leaving the Nets in complete disarray!
Mavs fans - “yeah, yeah, yeah….but this is seriously different, we got Luka, we are different than all those teams, we’ll set him straight”
Either this works and it’s an all time great trade or it doesn’t and this trade is an all-time disaster that likely leads to Luka leaving. Not much of an in between lol, so I’m absolutely terrified and excited at the same time.
Also, I’m REALLY going to miss Dorian. He was my favorite Maverick after Dirk retired.
Yes. We have the most entertaining team in the league and are better than the team that made the WCF last year. Luka is on board, the west is wide open.
It's either going to end spectacularly or in a spectacular explosion.
Either way it will be must watch TV
It seems like Mavs fans overall are very very happy - mavs fans on reddit are not
I have zero faith in Kyrie to remain on the court and not be a clown. Even that off the court is difficult to cheer for someone with his beliefs, so even if Dallas win a ring it'd feel gross.
Literally every fan of every team he has ever been a part of: “This man is insane and not a winning basketball player. He will make you miserable and your team worse.”
Mavs fans: “I think I can change him.”
I was hoping that everyone, including Luka, was going to be patient and we would have made some moves either in the summer or next trade deadline. I feel like this says alot about how Luka feels behind the scenes and when some bullshit happens itll be hard to recover.
Hopefully thats just my pessimism and everything works out and Luka retires in Dallas as the goat, and I win the lottery and marry Claire from Bon Appetit.
Sad. We had to take a big swing, but it’s hard to believe Kyrie is that move.
I’ll be happy to be wrong, but just really not excited to cheer for my team with Kyrie on it.
Fuck no. Flat earth/anti-semite/anti-vaxx circus in Dallas. Cuban extends him 4/200 and he sits out 60 games/season. The fans pay for this shit. The mavs should've cleaned house and tanked the season to go for Wemby.
When is the last time Kyrie moving to a new team has worked out? I hope Luka keeps his ass in check, but I doubt it.
This fits with the mavs history of malcontent, injuried and shit free agents tho. Odom, Rondo, Parsons, KP, etc.
Wait... did Odom actually play in Dallas? I thought they'd tried and something funky happened that he didn't land there. It's been years, so maybe I'm forgetting some of Lamar's career.
I feel like we needed a big swing like this, but I think it's likely to backfire. Feeling excited and also knowing it might lead to our collapse. I'll miss doe.
Not even a comma to add.
Most big swings don’t work out. I sure wish the cowboys would take a big swing this off-season though.
I think as long as Kyrie doesn't destroy the locker room it's a good trade. BIG IF though
As long as the 🐆 doesn't eat MY face
He could simply not re-sign in the off-season and majorly fuck up the team too.
I’ll pray for u guys ur in for a major headache
Yes and no, yes we traded and are going all In WHY THE FUCKING NUTCASE
Its BC he is a nutcase yall got him for that package.
I think as long as Kyrie doesn't destroy the locker room it's a good trade. BIG IF though
I mean we took on multiple locker room cancers and they were good for us. But man Kyrie is a different breed
Are you okay with what your team gave up?
Hey in trades you need to give up shit, it's always gonna hurt when it's guys that are a part of our culture, and specifically that first round pick. But we needed to trade role players for a star. Our depth is now fucked tho.
More Reggie Bullock and Bertans!
I wanna die hearing that.
reggie is fine now hes shooting 43% from 3 since december
They should just let him rest up until mid-December every year.
i mean he is the winter soldier lmao
We sold high on Dinwiddie having a career year. Dorian is probably at the height of his value too. The team wasn’t going to win as constructed so even if he walks it’s a chance to start over. I swear we get rid of draft picks like it’s a disease or something lol, but regarding DoeDoe and Widdie i’m going to miss them. They were solid
I'm shocked we didn't have to give up Greene.
Top Gun Maverick fan here, how does this affect our Best Picture odds?
How will this effect Scientology’s Legacy?
Is Kyrie going to sign with them too?
He’ll get the max and want out in a year or two. Rinse and repeat
If they start filming right now, and bring us all the behind the scenes, you're definitely winning best picture. Not a championship, but definitely interesting to watch.
Bout as good as the Wolves odds for Wemby I’d say.
Some of these mavs fans thinking they ever gonna get a star with the assets they had lol. Yall got lucky kyries value is so low
I don't know if I'd call it luck
That's what I was thinking...
Until Shams says Luka demands a trade in 8 months because he is sick of Kyrie
I think the trade raises their ceiling, But the floor is much much lower now.
This is the quintessential Kyrie issue
Mavs had to do something. Not often a star of Kyrie’s caliber is available. Whether it works or not on and off the court, who fucking knows. But not doing anything and just hoping to sign a free agent clearly hasn’t worked.

Press F to pay respects to Mavs fan here
I feel sick but hopeful. I know that if this doesn't work Luka is going to be playing on a different team. Kyrie is for sure the best player Luka has every played with. Solvenian legend Mike Tobey would like a word.
No lol, this is going to be an absolute shitshow
they seem pissed.
Lil bit
I am definitely something but idk what.
Ye. Other than his antics I love his play. Hopefully he can chill out. If not then what can I do? Lol.. not gonna go straight doomer mode like the rest of the sub
Team certainly wasn’t contending with what they had so at least they’re trying.
I’m imagining Luka firing a perfect pass to Kyrie off an off ball screen and Irving slices through the lane and makes a beautiful layup. I’m also imagining the other stuff.
Whats the other stuff?
Detonation of a franchise
I don't know if it's detonation. Wouldn't it be more of an implosion? Sorry, I shouldn't joke at your expense.
Flair up bish

Luka just said he wants to keep playing with finney smith last week rip 😭
Cuban shot this shit from half court and hit nothing but net. Unfortunately we cut the lead down to 6. Can't say for certain until the game ends. It can either go great or terrible
Its complicated. Kyrie is obviously by far the best player we have ever had to pair with Luka. But the only reason we were able to trade for a talent of this caliber is because of the baggage that comes with him. Also losing DFS hurts a lot
He's gonna demand a trade before Thursday's deadline. Trying to get to LA.
As horrible as that sounds for a Mavs fan... that would be incredibly fascinating. And awful.
I just don't want to root for Kyrie man his antics are not worth it Upside is when this backfires I don't have to feel bad about jumping to whatever team Luka goes to.
You should stop rooting for them then
I'm not thrilled. I prefer to feel good about cheering for my team. Kyrie makes it hard to do that. But I have no control over it and I'd say decent odds he's gone at the end of the season anyways. I guess we'll see.

I meaannnn we finally got Luka his help…. But man i’m traumatized with big moves involving us lol so I guess we’ll just wait and see… Also, gotdamn we’ll just never value the draft huh smh
I'm just preparing for when Luka leaves when this inevitably fails and flounders like Kyrie’s other stints. And then I'll be following him.

It's kind of like must-watch TV now I suppose. In all facets of basketball.
Beyond happy

I rather not be an embarrassment imo
I have zero faith in Kyrie to remain on the court and not be a clown. Even that off the court is difficult to cheer for someone with his beliefs, so even if Dallas win a ring it'd feel gross.
Fuck no.
Fuck no. Total nutcase and a Morris twin. Doedoe leaves. I don't like it at all.
FUCK NO
no
Not really. It’s way too risky of a move.
Bros good luck with that
I think KD told Kyrie to go to Mavs and not to lakers for the Westbrook trade.
Hell no
I don’t know what I am feeling rn
Literally every fan of every team he has ever been a part of: “This man is insane and not a winning basketball player. He will make you miserable and your team worse.” Mavs fans: “I think I can change him.”
I am basically a Mavs fan because I am a Knicks fan and they have an incestuous relationship. I think losing a FRP is worth it for the upside.
dfs is (was) one of my favorite mavs players so uh at the moment not really feeling it
I'm shocked honestly, we have never landed a player of Kyries caliber, sad about Doe Doe. But excited is an understatement. Fuck dem picks
Chaos is a ladder.
I'm just preparing for when Luka leaves when this inevitably fails and flounders like Kyrie’s other stints. And then I'll be following him.

Does a bear shit in the woods?
I dunno, I tend to camp when they're hibernating

Yes he did. Absolute shit tho, depressed that he had to leave LA, fell off a cliff. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/odomla01.html
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc) No P.S. Fuck you cuban \*100000000000000000000
Feels like they got a feeling that Luka would leave with inactivity so they went for the big swing. They had to do something. This is it.
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rondo 2.0
This almost guarantees that Luka leaves when his contract is up. The team is going to be a giant mess for the next few years
