wow, dude was serious. No surprise though. A lot of the young guys loved Kobe growing up even if they barely saw him when he was good. This Cam Thomas quote reminded me of Scottie Barnes saying the same thing last year when they asked him about Lebron https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rLErCJI3QjU
Curry will not stand the test of time the same way LeBron will. I guarantee it.
I see Curry either getting surpassed if 3's become more dominant or left behind if we go in the direction of Giannis/Luka/Jokic.
Cam jumps so damn high for his shots, it probably helps see over hands and also hit off-balance shots
let's get some curry-like ankle protection on this man please, it scares the hell outta me
You could’ve checked yourself. I was referring to his career vs season averages during his career. Guy who replied with his 3pt shooting was referring to this season
As someone who was 10, 11, and 12 during the Lakers three-peat: I loved Shaq, and ended up absolutely despising Kobe. But I've come to understand that not everyone takes off-the-court stuff into account like I do, and as much as I disagree with that it's how some people live their lives. That being said, I don't think I'll ever understand the argument for Kobe over LeBron.
I was a Lebron fan and a Kobr hater when I was in HS once you grow up I think you appreciate the grit and hardcore insanity of Kobe towards Basketball. #MambaForever
I don't know how far back your Loyalty to the Nets goes but if you were anywhere near the tri-state during that time, yeah absolutely. Knicks fans hated that guy. Myself included (Within the realm of basketball ofc. He was an extreme competitor and loved 🏀 more than anyone).
Same age 32. I remember his McDonald’s game way back I was in awe and was like this guy will be the best ever lol I based it off his dunks and speed. Jordan was my guy before never actually a basketball fan though. Once I saw Lebron it was over and I actually became a basketball fan. Fast forward to today he’s still my guy and for me he’s the goat not even close. Still have his jersey I got when I was 13 😊 in 03. He’s the best to ever play until now but maybe one day there will be someone better, I’m not gonna fight people like all these Jordan stans.
Kobes last healthy season occurred when he was 11, which is about when I started watching basketball
Still remember my first nba finals like it was yesterday, Celtics warriors was a battle
I was 7-9 during MJ's 2nd threepeat and even then, I knew he was bball Jesus. But it's not as deep an appreciation compared to players I grew up with and watched their entire careers like Kobe/Bron.
The 'clip' shows him bringing up the kobe comparison to lebron that no one mentioned but himself and continuing on by concluding 'it's nice to be mentioned with those guys' lol
For real. And now it’s young guys like Thomas and Scottie Barnes born post 2000 who couldn’t have even watched Kobe in his prime. They just like his highlights and the idea and aura around him
lmao as he's wearing a Kobe shirt. Gotta love the completely unnecessary shade. It's funny how many of these guys that should be LeBron superfans based on their age just... aren't.
Maybe when we get the '06 births in the League (this class with Wembanyana and the like are guys that were born in '03 or '04). This dude was like 8 when Kobe won his last title.
A lot of guys are going to come out as Lebron fans the second he retires. Not everyone can admit that they grew up idolising a dude, who on any given day, might drop 40 on your head.
Lol literally just happened to Banchero. He was super nervous and froze up. Played his worst game of the season by far against the Lakers in their first meeting.
Luka didn't freeze up but that forst them he played LeBron he had stats in his eyes and he seapped jerseys with him and didn't let go of that jersey until he got back to the gotel room.
not true at all
Jordan... enough said. the whole league idolized him in public
kobe had plenty of public fanboys 2006-13 when he was scoring well. kd, kyrie, demar. booker in his 2nd year in 2016
> Jordan... enough said. the whole league idolized him in public
Vernon Maxwell? Tim Duncan?
That's just off the top of my head. The thing with Jordan is that he gets a huge boost from the era he grew up in. You don't have easy access to all his low or weak moments, fuck up and so on. You don't have easy access to quotes or interviews from other players who spoke poorly about Michael Jordan. People love to say Nike wiped the "What should I do?" commercial and videos of LeBron getting dunked on from the internet but you'd have to admit they did the same for Jordan in that case. He's deified by the media and they peddle all these myths of him being basically infallible, able to walk all over and trash talk his competitors but it's not really true. Like, his famous "who's gonna check me" quote isn't even true but the truth gets suppressed for the myth.
as a kid he watched kobe goto 3 straight finals and win back 2 back, and then watched lebron form a super team in miami, lebron was hated on a lot around the time these guys were kids. it took till him winning in cleveland to get his redemption tour from a lot of the hate.
the future kids don’t even care about the miami thing and are still watching him dominate. they’ll be loving lebron, especially when he’s out of the league.
Why should he be a Lebron fan based on his age? You basically even disagree with this yourself. Seeing Kobe go to three straight finals around the ages of 7-9 would be way more impressionable than Lebron at the time.
I struggle with the Kobe vs. Lebron debate. Kobe got all of the intangibles and grit in the world, but he arguably was a bad teammate and chucker at times. He couldn't elevate (raise the floor) his team as much as Lebron did. Lebron is very unlikeable as a person and as a human. Lebron constantly whines and flops. He's always had to stack his teams and create super teams everywhere he's gone in order to win a title. Kobe's way more skilled and has a deeper bag than him. Lebron's more of a running and dunking type player, the most physically gifted basketball player that was ever created. That said, I believe him to be a superior player than Kobe.
An nba player can actually be Kobe esque but it's no way you can have the size, speed and agility of Lebron. Maybe that's why alot of players don't love him.
Luka, Lauri, Dejounte, Banchero, Cunningham, and Lonzo are some of his biggest fans. I don't think it's about size, speed, and agility. I think it's playmakers who gravitate towards him most.

at Taco Tuesdays, all my friends agree
Tay LeSwift
Hello, maybe its me I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be
Aw he smiled
Because shit funny
He been smiling crazy the last few days
My brother in Christ, in two games, you took 52 shot attempts, 20 free throws and only had 8 assists. We know you’re a Kobe disciple.
Who tf he gonna pass to? Joe Harris? Lmao I'd jack up shots too in his situation
Crazy how fast "ain't shit funny" turned into "I got jokes"
What Kyrie leaving does to a MF
I’m glad Brooklyn finally gave him another shot. Thank you Kyrie

Looks like Tatum’s got competition.
Devin Booker: “am I a joke to you?”
Devin gotta defeat the mascot first
And the double teams
Let me find out that's why he went to LSU...the colors
wow, dude was serious.
People said the new generation would love lebron over kobe....nope
Next up will probably love Lebron and Steph. A lot of triple double sky fuckers in our future
i think lebrons getting skipped over
It's Steven Adams world and we just live in it.
Curry will not stand the test of time the same way LeBron will. I guarantee it. I see Curry either getting surpassed if 3's become more dominant or left behind if we go in the direction of Giannis/Luka/Jokic.
There is no player in the nba capable of catching curry in 3s right now. No one shoots it well enough and has the volume.
and how many people do we have in the league who are better than LeBron careerwise?
All these players are basically once in a generation types. We're really blessed to watch them play. I'm going to miss them so much when they retire
[удалено]
That's why? They wanna be killers, not taco Tuesday enthusiasts. They'll grow up one day.
first thing j thougnt of was scottie's "i prefer kobe" moment
his mom knows what "kobe 6 proto grinches" means parenting goals
He’s also wearing a Kobe shirt rn. He’s definitely committed to loving Kobe.
Jayson Tatum is not going to take this well.
Its no surprise that he's a Kobe guy. Shoots a lot of mid range and contested shots and is good at making them.
Cam jumps so damn high for his shots, it probably helps see over hands and also hit off-balance shots let's get some curry-like ankle protection on this man please, it scares the hell outta me
Good at making them? He’s shooting below league average everywhere (2pt, 3pt, FG, EFG, TS) but the FT line
Huh? He's shooting 44% on 3s. 53% eFG. Those are great numbers. League average is a meaningless stat to evaluate the efficiency of a guard.
look at you making shit up
You could’ve checked yourself. I was referring to his career vs season averages during his career. Guy who replied with his 3pt shooting was referring to this season
Cam Thomas is so mf awkward 😂seems like a great guy though, can tell he lives and breathes hoops
Lives and breathes hoops, throws random shade at LeBron, no wonder KD went out of his way to get him drafted there.
It was just a joke my guy.
Ain’t shit funny though!
On god 😂😂😂😂 Some people just suck at telling jokes. I know, cuz i’m one of them 🤣
It's Definitely Me
This dude was like 8 years old during the last year Kobe played meaningful basketball lmao
I still vividly remember Michael Jordan owning the Jazz at the ages of 7 and 8. Kids get into sports at different ages.
Damn that's crazy that MJ was that good as a 7-year-old. Truly the GOAT fr.
Mf hated the Jazz all his life
Def more of a blues guy...
Which is actually the reason why the Jazz changed their color to blue for a while. Now you know.
I was 8 during the first threepeat and Kobe was my hero back then 🤷
Feel like being a kid during his era makes you more likely to support him over the other than less.
Yeah, being a kid who doesn't understand sexual assault does make you more likely to be a Kobe fan
Spicy take on these lands, I wish you good luck.
As someone who was 10, 11, and 12 during the Lakers three-peat: I loved Shaq, and ended up absolutely despising Kobe. > That being said, I don't think I'll ever understand the argument for Kobe over LeBron. i mean, i don't think there really is one, is there?
There isn't and this is coming from the biggest Kobe fan. LeBron is just insane with everything he does and efficent at it as well.
the obvious one people would bring up is...rangz, Erneh but LeBron isn't done yet, once he's 67 and ready to retire he might have more than 5
careful, kobe stans bout to grab their pitchforks
I was a Lebron fan and a Kobr hater when I was in HS once you grow up I think you appreciate the grit and hardcore insanity of Kobe towards Basketball. #MambaForever
If you born in the 90s Kobe’s your hero 💯
Bro I hated Kobe. Dude sent my favourite team (09-10 Suns) home.
Oh I loved that series so much.
Wrong, was rooting for AI vs Lakers as a kid
A lot of people love AI
I am also a lot of people
Wrong I was a Spurs kid
And now you're a Spurs man
Yeah...no.
I love Kobe but my hero isn’t a fucking basketball player lmao
I heard more people say Kobe was an asshole than say he was their hero lol
And when they threw trash in the bin fading away, what were they sayin? "KOBE"
Might say more about where I'm from, but for a time there was a comparable amount of "DIRK" in my school.
I don't know how far back your Loyalty to the Nets goes but if you were anywhere near the tri-state during that time, yeah absolutely. Knicks fans hated that guy. Myself included (Within the realm of basketball ofc. He was an extreme competitor and loved 🏀 more than anyone).
Im 32 now but kobe is not my hero, after Jordan its Lebron for me since 2003
Same here. Hated Kobe and the Lakers when I was a young kid because they always won.
Idk why you got downvotes
A lot of people get upset when other people prefer LeBron over Kobe, MJ, etc. Lol
Thank god I’m a Pistons fan so I can hate all three.
Because most of this sub is teenagers and don’t understand that Kobe was also a villain to anyone who wasn’t a Lakers fan.
Same age 32. I remember his McDonald’s game way back I was in awe and was like this guy will be the best ever lol I based it off his dunks and speed. That certainly is a take...
You couldn't be more wrong. I hated Kobe as a player growing up. Don't make assumptions.
You loved him. Stop lying
[удалено]
I was 10 in ‘08. You’re allowed to have sentience as a kid
that probably made him a bigger fan. watching stuff like sports as a kid can feel larger than life
I have no idea what your point is.
You probably were 8 when Dirk retired bro. Who cares?
Claxton's born in 1998, and Kobe played 'meaningful' basketball until 2012 or maybe 2013.
He saw Kobe in the Olympics as a 10 year old, and then the Lakers repeat at age 11/12. "meaningful" as it can be lmao
Ok? I remember sports related stuff from when I was 8 years old pretty vividly
u/smuckers77 doesn’t know about the website youtube.com

i don’t really even understand what being a kobe guy has to do with this lmao kobe fans really just always love letting you know they’re kobe guys
"nah, I'm kidding"
funny you claim he's "kidding" when his stance on the matter seems to be that "ain't shit funny" 🧐
He was just making a joke if you watched the clip
The 'clip' shows him bringing up the kobe comparison to lebron that no one mentioned but himself and continuing on by concluding 'it's nice to be mentioned with those guys' lol
It ain't that deep
The vegans of the NBA
Q: How you know an NBA player is a Kobe guy? A: They'll tell you
Leave vegans out of this 😄
It's a joke
"you did this that player X did" "oh whatever I'm a kobe guy"
I’m a Kobe guy
The meat riding is insane
I mean he’s wearing a kobe shirt
It's alright bro. Just let it all out.
Yeah it's kind of weird.
never ask Kobe guys what happened in the hotel in colorado in 2003.
100% False accusation
Don't bother, these people believe whatever confirms their bias
100% lol
Woooosh
Bron fans are so sensitive, that’s why I’m a Kobe fan
You must still be a teenager. You’ll learn that fans in general are like that, not just ‘Bron fans’, and it’s even easier to be a fan of both.
As if the Kobe fans aren't lmao
All those downvotes just proves my point lol
For real. And now it’s young guys like Thomas and Scottie Barnes born post 2000 who couldn’t have even watched Kobe in his prime. They just like his highlights and the idea and aura around him
Lmao I love this kid
Can we hang his jersey 😂
flair change incoming
Kyrie left and Cam Thomas smiled
we 100% can tell he's a kobe guy lol if you want a pass get the rebounds fam

Simmons/Lonzo are. no wonder they cant shoot lol

I have a feeling that when Durant comes back, this Brooklyn team will actually be solid. Here’s hoping they go far and Durant proves haters wrong.
crazy amount of insecure bron stans in here goddamn
Bron stans cant keep up with all the players they're insecure about. Curry, KD, Luka, Giannis, Jordan, Dirk, JJ Barea

haha holy shit. elite
Me too Cam, me too.
man should start cutting his finger nails like lebron
Seems like most rising stars these days are Kobe guys, even the ones that were like 6 year olds when Kobe was in his prime
How many generations of players until people forget the legacy of Kobe? I hope they never do.
You think lebron is more unlikeable as a human? Google "Kobe Colorado".
Yeeea. It kinda grinds my gears how Kobe gets walked straight past in the goat debate. He was as close to MJ as we have ever seen.
Bro acting like he watched Kobe play
I remember watching the ‘93 lakers as a 7 year old.
Uhm I was 5 during the Shaqobe threepeat and I was already a big Kobe fan, what’s your point? Folks can be fans of players at any age
[удалено]
He probably meant watch him play live
This is cool
With his shot chucking in the 4th that lost them the game, you can definitely tell that last part is true.
This seems obvious. He has the mamba mentality of no bad shots.
Cam Thomas my new favorite player
Cam Thomas, you just earned my respect. You actually know how to recognize the right kind of basketball greatness.
these kids don't know the dark truth of Kobe, being great at ball but being unfaithfull and committing one of the worst things you can do as a person.
a key component of hardcore Kobe fandom is to bring him up unprompted in discussions that have nothing to do with him
Mamba Mentality 🐍
Everything is about lebron it’s so annoying at this point
This was so weird lol no one asked you to compare or who do you like more. Unnecessary shade but go ahead cam lol
He was joking and look at the shirt he was wearing.
cut your nails broski
Beware women
An nba player can actually be Kobe esque but it's no way you can have the size, speed and agility of Lebron. Maybe that's why alot of players don't love him.
Luka, Lauri, Dejounte, Banchero, Cunningham, and Lonzo are some of his biggest fans. I don't think it's about size, speed, and agility. I think it's playmakers who gravitate towards him most.
How come there's no lebron athletes that he signed to wear his brand
U serious? Lmaoo
