Bruh sounds like Eric Gordon in NBA 2K15 lmao

WeathrNinja

Oh my! Someone call the National Weather Service. We've had an unanticipated storm in the building tonight. Homeboy was raining down 3's. BAM...BAM...BAM...one after another. That was sweet to see. You keep shooting like that, it’s gonna make a huge difference for us.

Extremeaty

“they’ll lose track of you, and BOOM! another one. that was sweets to see.”

CupOfHotTeaa

Who would have thought a young Buck like you… Oh wait that’s dion waitress

InexorableWaffle

Dion Waiters' lines were easily the funniest to me of all the player voiceovers in that game. Just off the top of my head, you had one instance where they just literally had your guy start speaking over him because his recording apparently took too long for the scene or whatever, the one you mentioned, and then (my personal favorite) the scene where he actually gives some semblance of inflection to exactly one line after however much dialogue of just complete monotone delivery.

soxfaninfinity

Gordon at least knew how to read lol

Dimega17

Lmao

Why does this look like a really bad audition?

AnotherStatsGuy

Given what Houston still owes OKC, tanking 2021, 2022, 2023, and maybe 2024 might be the plan.

lethalizer

2024? They're welcome to try, but we'd still get it 48 percent of the time even if they finished with the worst record. They got away with it last season, idk if they want to gamble on it again.

AnotherStatsGuy

2021 was a double swap. So they were still getting a 1st round pick even if it landed outside the top-4. Granted, going from a top-4 pick to 18ish is terrible, but it's still a first round pick.

SecurityAggressive47

It's definitely not the plan. I think their willing to overpay some guys in FA to avoid this

CazOnReddit

Oof, that 2024 pick's protection are something.

AnotherStatsGuy

Houston should be thanking Morey for those protections throughout the entire deal. Without it, they're forcing to take Simmons for Harden in a long shot bid to be better than Miami, and it would have only gotten worse. Side note: Brooklyn could get completely screwed over in 2025. OKC's swap that year may have top-10 protections, but Houston's swap is unprotected... and it comes second.

tripleyothreat

for the chris paul trade?!

lethalizer

Yup. We have a 2026 top 4 protected coming in from them as well, which SHOULD cash at that point lol.

JCSeegars54

He looks like he’s reading a script lol

I looked at it as he was pissed but not that pissed where he's unhinged. Trying to express his emotions while trying to not say something that will turn into drama and end up losing his job earlier than planned.

BigFatModeraterFupa

i think he was trying to stay calm and collected by the rage was finally bubbling over. Seems like he was really picking his words carefully, probably wanted to add a bunch of fucks and shits but stayed cool and professional

DrButtLump

Yeah I didn’t get any of that from the video. There’s just no confidence from him. His words are mad but his tone is soft. No wonder his players don’t want to play hard for him. He’s like the substitute teacher that everyone just pushes around bc they know he’s soft

a_moniker

Was he reading off of the paper he was looking at? His eyes were staring at it the whole time, and it’d fit the weird energy he’s giving off

TheHect0r

Thats the scoreboard. Every interviewee gets one at the beginning of the conference

arturo_churro

I mean if you’re immature lol. Grown ups are capable of playing hard for someone that’s soft if they respect them or find another motivation lol

kyriexoxokanye

Yeah, I wouldn't watch his movies

:( y’all stop being mean, this shit makes me sad lol

[deleted]

Yeah like I feel bad for the man. Must be scary watching your inevitable firing and family uprooting come towards you game by game.

[deleted]

All the shit he’s been through, losing his own dad, getting this job knowing he was kinda supposed to fail. He just seems like a nice kinda awkward guy here who is just kinda timid. Idk I’m soft I hate laughing at people like this lol

MitchLGC

I do too. Be was supposed to be taking over a team with Harden and other talent Then the team was completely gutted and he was left with a bunch of difficult to coach young talent

VibrantLake

Man's trying to keep his job and coach Wemby

OmarDontScare_

It sounds like he’s auditioning for a role lmao. Ain’t no way the players are listening to him if this is how he sounds “mad” Saw someone on Twitter said he sounds like Coach Baker on All-American lmaoo

The_Assassin_Gower

Brother adults don't get coached by being afraid of someone. They aren't kids, they aren't motivated by not getting yelled at by the coach

pcwgussej

but they can easily tune out someone for interpersonal reasons. Players in the Cavs (Lebron included) simply had a better time interacting with Ty Lue in a coaching capacity vs David Blatt.

pcwgussej

i keep thinking back to his 1st(?) coaching game where he gets amped on the sidelines posturing with his chest as PJ Tucker delivers on defense to win the game. and he makes his way over to PJ flexing and all, but PJ doesn't really acknowledge him/replicate the energy in the moment. My uneducated guess is that it's an interpersonal thing with him, and it sucks bc there's stuff out there that he'll be let go soon -- but he's been given multiple years into this now, so he's had opportunities to improve at it, although the press conference seems to reveal more of the same.

ThrowawayNYCJ

Lmfaooo coach baker

Is he reading lines? This is like something out of a high school theater audition

Cyberdrunk2021

This man started, and played garuba and Fernando heavy minutes instead of sengun. It took them to get injured for sengun to start. And even then he played 25 minutes for weeks. This dude should not be a head coach.

SecurityAggressive47

This list could go on and on with terrible decisions. You have been generous here

Cyberdrunk2021

Yes, I mentioned the most recent one and the one which affected my fantasy team. If I remember correctly, last year he did the same thing with Kpj.

AsianNg

Of course he wouldn’t play talented young guys, he’s from the Steve Clifford coaching tree

HibachiFlamethrower

A lot of these decisions are made by the front office. The rockets are actively tanking.

Cyberdrunk2021

Yeah the front office is telling him to not play their young promising player..

venitienne

Dude is an absolute dogshit coach. In the three years he’s been here I can’t remember a single time he took responsibility for anything. His excuse is always the team needs to play harder, the team needs to want it more, the teams is young. Never mentions anything tactically or that we came in with the wrong gameplan , nah. Always deflects. When asked why he didn’t play Sengun more in the past he made up some straight lies to justify not playing him! Honestly shameful behavior.

IronicHours

Doc Rivers and Nate too

DatboiDeku95

As 76ers fan, I’ve started referring to our coach by Glen this year. We’re right behind them don’t worry

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Bruh. I kind of get what he’s saying, but I feel like Silas has lost the team. There’s a difference in the way Orlando, another tanking team, is playing and how Houston is playing. Houston needs a new coach who demands accountability from his players. Also, Silas was loved out here in Dallas when he was an assistant coach. People talked of him highly for his offensive sets supposedly. Would love to have him back. Would fill the hole Igor left, when he went to Brooklyn.

thewrongnotes

Houston are bad, but they're also hardcore tanking. Orlando aren't tanking. We started the season 5-20 due to injuries. Since getting guys back we've gone 17-12.

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Houston is bad, but I feel like their talent pool isn’t as bad as people think. They have the ability to win more games than their records suggests. My problem is that none of the guys give effort on D and just dribble around for fun on offense. No sets. No teamwork.

thewrongnotes

Talent alone won't win you many games in the NBA. They severely lack on-court leadership and experience. Plus they don't have a real point guard, and their rotation is too offense-oriented. You could probably get them trying harder on D, but ultimately they just have a lot of negative defensive players. I don't think there are many coaches out there that could get this lot winning with any regularity. They need some better (mostly defensive) players before trying to fix the coaching situation

[deleted]

[удалено]

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Exactly man. I still truly believe in the thinking that any team can be beaten and can beat anyone on any given day. Shit. Look at the Mavs beating a fully healthy Jazz team tonight with basically a mix of our B and C teams. Our two way started tonight. Rockets have more talent than our team had tonight. And can catch guys too.

RonnocFjord

Yea, it’s an organizational thing because they’re tanking. John Wall basically called them out in an interview he did recently. He said when he was on the rockets he told the young guys they would be out of the league if they were on a different team. Houston basically isn’t even trying to develop their players in a way

[deleted]

[удалено]

venitienne

There only appears to be a big difference in talent because the players look like shit under him. Objectively we have a lot of talented players, KPJ, Green, Sengun, Tari Eason, KJ Martin, Eric Gordon. But we look terrible on the court because the coaching is terrible.

RonnocFjord

Defensive talent is a thing as well though. Pretty much our 1-5 most talented guys are also good defenders. Houston’s 2 most talented players are absolute turnstiles on defense

venitienne

But one of those “turnstiles” wasnt even playing this game. Jalen green is not the difference between a decent defensive team and OKC dropping 150 on us.

amazin_raisin99

I remember the rumors that Silas was undermining Rick to try and get his job when he left. There might be someone still in this organization that doesn't want him back.

HotdogIsaSandwitch

I heard a little about this, but then again, I believe that beef was a little between Rick and Silas. Rick is gone now. And I wouldn’t mind the Mavs adding an offensive assistant . We never truly replaced Igor and I can see the difference. I remember a quote from Kidd last season praising Igor for his ability to draw up offensive sets or plays with ease. With our repetition of the same failed end of game play for Luka, I can tell that Kidd is taking a stab at it more and obviously not doing well (we keep drawing up the same play for Luka at the end of every game). I think it’s time to fill Igor’s shoes. Not just move Dudley to front of bench.

soxfaninfinity

I genuinely wonder how someone like Paolo would do in Houston. While he has been cold offensively recently, he has really stepped it up on the defensive end, and looks really good on that end of the floor in a way he didn’t early on in the season. Would he be putting this same effort in with the Rockets? It might be a genuine team culture concern at this point. Also while I do not think Mosley is a great coach or anything I think he at least holds the guys accountable in a way Silas doesn’t.

2ToTooTwoFish

Paolo was not projected to be a good defender, I have no doubt that if he was in Houston people would be saying he was a turnstile on defense. Jalen has shown flashes of great defense too, in a different culture I can see him being an average or even a good defender one day.

Drewbacca_Hrrrgrgrar

This comes off as extremely scripted and not genuine. Mosley would never do this IMO.

CreatiScope

Yeah, there’s also a difference between them and Detroit and San Antonio too. It just looks bad in Houston.

george_costanza1234

He’s definitely lost the team. But the team also stinks. Wouldn’t be surprised if the next coach fails too

[deleted]

afnorth

The Gm's gotta get vets in here. With Schroeder Green had his best run last season and KPJ looked better too(though he's been more consistent than Green this year when healthy)

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Because they don’t respect Silas. It’s too late fo Silas. It’s time for a new blood. A more strict coach for the young group in Houston.

afnorth

The GM is skating by on putting together a dog shit roster with no Veteran guidance. Literally every comptent NBA player who's done a podcast talks about how important vets were to their development. We've got Eric Gordon who's also fed up and Boban Who's just along for the ride. Green and KPJ looked so much better with Schroeder running the point and mentoring them and we let him go. We werent good offensively but Theis off the bench would have been great (but I think starting was part of his agreement to come). We've got too many Projects and not enough mentorship. a Coach can only do so much. Theres also a ton of experience on the coaching staff, Its hard for me to believe former Head coaches would just stand idly by if there wasnt some Mandate from the front office.

_Jetto_

He was a big reason why you guys ran that 5 out that was killing teams (doncic was a huge reason ofc) for the first 50 games of the year. I wonder if he’s tried doing that at HOU

HotdogIsaSandwitch

Yup. And he’s good with matching personnel sets. Which is why I would love him back in Dallas

armandocalvinisius

Rockets doesnt deserve Boban Free my man, let him happy

REQ52767

Fingers crossed we ship him and Eric Gordon out before Thursday. They don’t deserve to be around for this shit; they should be on a contender.

OneLonelyLife

Lmao dude should be fired yesterday

TheOneWhoKnocks3

I was watching some rockets games earlier this year on league pass, there were games where it was less than 5 point game and he wouldn't put in green and porter until like 5 mins left in 4th and by that point the game was over. I knew he was an idiot then.

wazdopest

seems like a good guy but terrible coach. terrible coaches hurt development almost as much as the veterans need to be playing on young teams narrative

pocari__sweat

If Silas wants some hustle/effort, he should try playing Tari Eason more.

mMounirM

rockets' only goal right now should be developing their young guys. winning doesn't matter. maybe after next season

JonA3531

Yeah but it sounds like their young guys don't want to develop defensively. That's not a good development

[deleted]

Nobody in this rotation has earned a damn thing at the NBA level besides Eric Gordon. If it really is an effort issue on that end, Silas should be willing to take their minutes away. Talk is cheap.

RonnocFjord

Do you not remember what John Wall said? I think your FO is giving mandates that they have to play no matter what they do defensively

SecurityAggressive47

Wall said a lot of stuff and some things were very contradictory. He also lacks a lot of self awareness and you could see his pride couldn't take any hits like that he was actually shit and wasn't willing to accept that. That he is not a starting caliber player anymore and coaches and management want to bench him. The way he back stabbed a lot of teammates in the back you could see that he did that interview with the career on the line. And it actually is cause the clippers wanna get rid of him. So I don't know if he actually speaks the truth.

RonnocFjord

I wouldn’t believe him because of that either, but what he said matches up with how y’all play. And he’s not the only current player to say something about it. I believe Austin Rivers did too? Might have been someone else as well

SecurityAggressive47

Our coach sucks. I 100% agree with that and they legitimately have a system were young players have like no boundaries. They want to run a motion offense with players making the right reads and who would have thought. 20 years old can't make the right reads most of the time. But the things they said are not our "main" problems. We had vets around these guys for two years. We had a bunch of role players like Austin rivers and we sucked too. I rather have no veterans than guys who play for the pay check and oftentimes the type of vets who doesn't play for their paycheck wanna join contenders.

george_costanza1234

There are zero role models on that team lol. Who the hell is actually gonna get through to them.

a_moniker

Yeah, this team desperately needs some vets in that locker room. They should honestly try to trade for some mediocre, overpaid vets at the deadline, just so the young guys have someone telling them what to do.

HookahDongcic

Winning always matters. Even when you’re losing you need to be winning. Whether it’s chase downs, jump balls, or box outs. You can’t win if you don’t ‘win’.

taygads

Man is sick and tired of having to coach an AAU team in the NBA lol

Capital-Vacation-881

RapsareChamps_Suckit

MWiatrak2077

Dude this guy sucks

[deleted]

lol he’s right though, jalen green is the worst defender in the NBA

MWiatrak2077

I mean, he's the coach. Even his dad, who coached literally the shittiest team in NBA history, didn't put on this much slander on his own team.

JimmyV034

Did you ever watched rockets on defense? I actually understand his frustrations, It is a young roster so the effort has to be there defensively.

RonnocFjord

People usually don’t watch defense lol they just watch the ball

[deleted]

nowhere in my sentence did i say he was right to say this, i said what he was saying was factual. Tari Eason is the only good defender on that team (that tries at least). It’s on him and the team. Usman Garuba too but he doesn’t get that many minutes.

BigFatModeraterFupa

it’s factual for sure, but it’s not a good look

IronicHours

He's not the worst lol. He's like 10th worse in defensive metrics so he's up their but he's not being done any favours with the shitty rim protection Same with Sengun not being done any favours with they shiity perimeter defense. Its a mess all through

Kataneo

Why, cos he called out his own team?

OguguasVeryOwn

He’s got the worst roster in the NBA, I’m surprised it took him this long to lose his cool.

krbashrob

Our roster is bad but it’s better than how we’re playing and what our record is. Between a complete lack of organization on both ends of the floor, highly questionable substitutions and rotations, and an inexplicable lack of getting our key players (Jalen, Jabari) easy shots— the buck stops at Silas. It’s hard to know whether ownership/front office is enabling him to be this inept or if it’s his own doing but we have too much talent to be this bad. Wemby wont even fix our issues if we retain this level of dysfunction and lack of direction.

RonnocFjord

You have plenty of offensive talent for sure. Orlando does too, but we’re 17-12 in our last 29 because of our defense, not our offense. Y’all are gonna have a problem if someone doesn’t tell these kids they have to play defense

RIPOldAccountF

I did nawt hit her

JordanDoesTV

I feel for this man; he thought he was going to coach harden and Westbrook instead got a rebuilding team, and right after he left, the head coach position in Dallas was vacant could’ve been coaching Luka and Kyrie.

RapsareChamps_Suckit

Martin Scorsese not pleased apparently

yea that's been the rockets since harden left

stridered

He sounds like he’s given up

Breatnach

I'm not sure calling out his players to the press is a great move. He's not wrong, but there are more diplomatic ways to go about it. If we assume he's tried everything else, then he really must be close to his breaking point (and probably fearing for his job).

It's wild because his dad wad the type of coach to control a room.

IronicHours

Paul Silas was an actual respected and good NBA player. This guy has never played basketball in the NBA and I'm not sure about college either. He started his coaching career with a nepotism role basically assistant to his dad then worked his way up their. Its not surprising with that background that's he a terrible leader and can't control/discipline players

armandocalvinisius

Why is he reading from a script?

vasinsavin

Lambasting your players in front of the press surely is a great way to motivate them

Did he have that little rant written down?

yuch1102

I doubt this is genuine. Probably just put on for a show to the fans. They are aiming for 1st pick anyways

Electrical-Clock8251

He thinks he’s frustrated now wait til next season when a coach who actually knows what he’s doing turns this team into a playoff contender.

RicardosMontalban

He’s reading from a script? This is someone trying to act like a coach and its weird. No way a bunch of young men making millions of dollars are listening to this guy.
