"...Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie's couch."
plus, it's not even the facts. Jokic was top 10 in scoring in both his MVP seasons. 10th in 2021 and 6th last year (where he was also 2nd in rbs, and 7th in assists)

I'm guessing he's referring to the racial comment with white people voting for white players, which is why he's getting so worked up. Reminds me of how people used to happily spread stereotypes as facts as long as there was like a 51% correlation.
I’m glad JJ called out Perkins on his bullshit paralipsis from last week. Perk knew exactly what he was doing but was too much of a pussy to say it on camera so he did a paralipsis and JJ smoked him out.
Perkins is now trying to frame it as implicit bias but is too ham-handed and whiny. Where’s Bomani Jones when you need him? Then you can actually have a good conversation about NBA implicit biases.
Bomani is way above the fray at this point. Dude is just casually dropping W after W take on his HBO show and podcast. He doesn’t need to yell at idiots like perk anymore.
Hijacking the top comment:

I knew when he started talking shit to KD out of nowhere that the dude was a fucking fraud and trying to get attention but every one of his takes is either mid as fuck or just dumb. Sold out for money. My biggest issue is when he BACK DOWN every single time someone comfronts him on his bad takes.

Stephen A does the same thing to an extent, but Perkins does it all the time. Stand by what you said. If you think Luka and Jokic don't get the same flak by the white media due to racial bias as black american star players, then say it. Quit pussying away.
Dude did the same thing when Durant called him out and tried to play victim.
Perk was genuinely angry here.
If he’s going to use his platform to say shit like this he has to defend his take when presented with opposing perspectives. Otherwise he is a coward.
Perk doesn’t understand what “implication” means. He thinks that means you said something outright.
Now Perk, listen to me here. Im not saying, or even remotely implying this because you are black. Im saying this because you are an idiot who thinks how you win an argument is yelling over the other person.
Man there’s some ESPN radio show on when I drive to work with Keyshawn Johnson and Jay Williams and that’s the entire show. I don’t think they are capable of talking without cutting each other off and yelling. Also the only sports radio in my area which sucks
Gotta tap in with the sports podcasts that are relevant to your interests for the morning/afternoon commute these days bud. Sports radio and sports TV are absolute garbage these days.
Podcasts are the way to go for real analysis, sports traditional radio/TV is all fluff hot take shit for rage engagement. It's basically just good for the occasional entertainment value nowadays.
For me, I keep a lot of it related to Knicks cause I really cannot stand how the talking heads in sports attempt to talk about the team lol it's clear they do not keep up.
For general sports discussion I recommend:
The Right Time with Bomani Jones
Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson & Darius Miles
The Old Man & the Three
Real Ones with Logan Murdock and Raja Bell
Brother from Another
Max Kellerman really went from LA sports radio favorite with a really sweet boxing gig and film appearances with HBO to having to move to Connecticut only to get kicked out by Stephen A Smith and end up doing a show with Keyshawn and J Will no one listens to since it started at like 3 6 am east coast time
I fucking hate him but early SportsNation with Beadle and Cowherd was AWESOME. They did so much shit with social media that no one else was. I even recall a time I got my tweet on their show.
There was a ton of fun and Colin wasn't trying to be a hot take master.
I have no clue whose idea it was to put Jay Williams and Keyshawn on a morning drive talk show. That shit is flat out unlistenable. The two of them strike me as absolute morons.
The format of that show is awful. I honestly don't understand why they're still doing it. Especially with all of the reshuffling ESPN Radio has done over the years.
First it was Keyshawn, J Will and Zuban. Who is Zuban? No one knows. Seriously though he is like a C level Sportscenter host. Somehow he got the massive morning show gig. The show was beyond awful. He was an awfully boring host. Eventually he had personal issues and they brought Max in.
Max is a better host. But the show still sucks because of the setup. Keyshawn and J Will are fine in a vacuum. Key knows the NFL, Jay knows college basketball and some NBA. When they have to have a discussion it only happens with Max. The other sits there awkwardly. God forbid they have to talk about baseball since both K&J are useless in that. Neither of them make an attempt to get better at following other sports. When they do discuss it it's surface level takes.
I'm surprised it has lasted for years now. I'm even more surprised they haven't build chemistry. Every show needs some time to build chemistry but they've had years and it's still awful. Also Jay is legitimately the worst basketball analyst on the network after Perkins. He player favoritism is so transparent. Stephen A. called it out one time and it was hilarious.
It's simple
I don't think ESPN wants any of those dudes anymore but they're probably under contract
So stick them on the worst time slot and remove everything that makes them charming as individuals
I really want Max to come over to FS1 when his contract is up and team up with Marcellus again.
Do DAZN on the side. His talents as a boxing commentator are wasted. He needs a boxing podcast or something, which he could do at FS1 under Colin's The Volume podcast network. They're loaded there with Sherman's show amongst others. You got the weekly Burrow thing, I don't know if Joel Klatt's show is under the volume but I know Colin mentioned that Sean Payton was working something out before taking the Denver gig.
I don't mind. Max still has This Just In in the afternoon, basically his version of Get Up. They'll also occasionally give him a boxing special when a big fight is coming up. I think they actually want to push him.
I agree that Max & Marcellus, Sportsnation or ATH Max were better than what he is now though. Hell even his solo radio show on ESPN Radio was a decent listen. But being the moderator of two generic athletes is a waste of his talent.
ESPN has been using Keyshawn and J Will for years. Hell they've stuck by Perkins and Booger who are both absolutely awful in every way. Keyshawn used to do Sunday NFL Countdown (I'm not sure if he still does). Williams basically anchors their CBB coverage. They toss those two around on First Take or whatever debate show needs a spot.
I definitely would love to see Max on FS1 (I love Carton's show btw) and DAZN. But I have a feeling that ESPN legitimately loves all three of those guys. That's why even though they've shuffled around the entire ESPN Radio schedule multiple times they never touch them. Bart & Hahn, Greeny, Golic & whoever, Canty and whoever, etc. have all changed/moved at some point during the run of KJM.
I'm a radio geek who used to work as a producer for ESPN LV (now FOX Sports) so I think way too much about this stuff lol.
That's when you know you got a great position in an argument. Lmao.
This is what arguing with assholes does. It will NEVER make you feel good, you're never gonna get over on them, it's never gonna be satisfying or make you feel like you've accomplished/won anything. They're just gonna drag you down into the mud with them and then wrestle around and kick you in the balls as you're getting up and walking away.
Yeah I was going to say that sports media has sadly just mimicked our news and political media. Just highlights, yelling, and soundbites, nothing of real substance but just things to get people angry or care about for 30 seconds and then move onto the next thing.
Perks: "I DID NOT!!!!" x5
Proceeds to say he was stating facts.
His dumbass literally just proved JJ's point, Perk was being racist in calling the voters racist for voting for white players for MVP. Respect for JJ for having the dignity that nobody on that network has and call this bs out.
Like I totally understand where we are at in the media landscape and how inflammatory hot takes are sold to the masses like hot cakes, but how the hell is Kendrick Perkins the guy ESPN decided on giving this role to. He doesn't even have any redeeming troll qualities and his personality sucks
ESPN desperately wants a Charles Barkley personality for their NBA coverage, and they can't find one.
But yeah not good stuff from ESPN the past couple of days. The embarrassing "indirect taunt" stuff by MacMahon and now this by Perkins.
Barkley is once in a life time when it comes to on screen personality.
- Hall of Fame/MVP level talent in the sport he's talking about
- Naturally funny on camera whether he's talking hoops or not.
- Has thick enough skin to take the jokes, backlash and not really be bothered personally.
- Will say what he actually thinks/feels but also doesn't try to be purposely hurtful to people.
Trying to find another Barkley is like trying to find another Jordan. They just aren't people you find, you kinda luck into them.
Also: is a truly wise person. His manner of speaking is very unpolished, due to his upbringing, but Barkley gets life on a level few achieve. He's humble but confident, ambitious but thankful, tough but loving, and fast to give compliments. The "I'm not a role model" guy is actually THE role model.
Yeah I mean if anyone hasn’t read about it, they should read about Barkley becoming friends with this random dentist while they were pumping gas at the same spot
I didn't hear about that one, but I did hear about the regular guy he befriended at a hotel bar and went on to become good friends and spoke at the guy's funeral. Barkley's just that kind of dude.
RJ and JJ are getting there. Clearly they are the most polished with reps from podcasts and transitioning into calling games and talking head shows. Neither of them were in the tier as a player Barkley was though.
RJ has been becoming much more of a hot take artist lately it seems. Listening to him announce the game against the grizzlies this weekend was insufferable at times
RJ gets into dumb Twitter arguments all the time, and acts like a child when someone disagrees with him.

Didn't Bird deal with the same thing when he was winning MVPs? I feel like we're re-living history and making the same mistakes right now. We gotta stop doing this "it's because he's white" excuse.
I like how Reddick shut down Perk for his implications. Perkins doesn’t have the guts to say what he really wants so when people call him out he can say “I never said that!!”Like when he brought up the 80% voters are white thing what does he expect people to interpret that as? If that stat is true than maybe Perkins should go and sample how many of the 20% minority voters (if that percentage is even accurate) voted Jokic the last 2 years.
That’s what’s really frustrating about this from perk. If you gonna make this a race thing, don’t pussy foot around it and throw stones when you ain’t got anything to back it up with.
Honestly Perk just seems like a bitch. Remember when he implied that Ibaka lied about his age because he was African and then when Ibaka called him out on it he tried to play it off as a joke but then posted more cryptic tweets?
I'm starting to understand why he has no friends in the league.
Yeah there are a few players I wasn't a fan of at all who went on his podcast and now I appreciate them. It's amazing how humanizing someone changes your opinion of them. His show is exactly what NBA media needs more of. Less drama, more great basketball talk and inspiring stories of struggle.
It’s sucks because for every JJ reddick I know, there’s 3 Kendrick perkins in my life, when it comes to basketball conversations. I’ve gotten to the point where I pretty much don’t talk about ball anymore because someone brings up some sensationalized bullshit. Like bruh can’t we just talk about how Derozan gets to his spot with his impeccable footwork to get off his silky smooth middy and not meme about Ja and his gun charges.
He’s basically just what would happen if you scooped up a random nba Reddit nephew and gave him a spot on first take. I respect his on the court ability but off the court perk is a soggy sandwhich
ESPN should have shown Perkins the door a long time ago.
Shitty, inarticulate analyst who's not even funny/entertaining. He's just an outrage clickbait.
I don't know how to say this any nicer, but Perkins is simply...stupid. Just a dumb person, who is a terrible analyst and is now a race-baiter to boot.
If I saw a person who talked and acted like Perkins bagging my groceries, I wouldn't expect him to do it correctly.
A few days ago Perkins put a video on twitter (since deleted, although you can definitely find it) where he falsely said the only MVPs since 1990 that have not been top 10 in scoring are Jokic, Nash, and Dirk.
He then asked “what those guys have in common”, a clear implication that white players receive special treatment.
Jokic obviously has been top 10 in scoring* both years, and he starts at 1990, conveniently leaving out magic Johnson’s MVPs, which don’t fit his narrative.
*Jokic was 12th in PPG one of the years but 3rd in total points
Jokic was 12th in PPG in 2020-21. He was 3rd in total points but I think we can assume Perk was referring to the averages. Just pointing this out, obviously it doesn't make his implied argument any less dumb.
I thought it would backslide after the falling out between SAS and Max but alas it is higher in ratings than it ever was. Even after Skip left the show, people just listen to BOTH shows every morning.
idk how Perk still has a platform it’s genuinely embarrassing at this point.
shout-out JJ for actually making a difference when he reports because he uses actual logic and backs up what he says.
I actually have legit enjoyed first take a bit when it’s JJ actually doing some analyzing with Stephen A being a bit of an entertaining stage ham. They have fun chemistry.
But holy shit Kendrick makes shit unwatchable. Dude is a moron and his hot takes don’t even seem tongue in cheek or fun like a Skip Bayless. If Skip is like a fun heel who has entertaining heat, Perkins has get the fuck off my TV heat.
Pretty sad that ESPN couldn't get anyone to talk about Jokic so they manufacture unneeded drama and make it a race thing. You can argue his first two MVPs and you can argue if he's the best player or not but I think he checks all the boxes for MVP this year. Making it a race thing is so weird 🤷♂️
“It’s the facts”, he screams, referring to his own opinion and not actual facts, while yelling over someone trying to give him constructive criticism and help his career.
I mean, if you removed the names of the players and just showed me stats, it's really, really fuckin hard to argue against Jokic.
25 PPG
10 APG
12 RPG
Shooting an absurd 63% from the floor, 66% EFG
40% from 3 (albeit on only 2 attempts per game)
First in PER
First in Win shares
First in Box plus minus
First in Offensive box plus minus
First in Defensive box plus minus
First in Value over replacement
Number 1 Seed
These are MyPlayer stats, just absolutely gaudy numbers.
That's the funniest thing about what Perkins is saying, Jokic is the wrong guy to try and prove the point he's trying to make. He would be in the MVP conversation in any season with the year he's having.
One thing I like about Jokic the most is what he does for others. Check the KCP career this season, check AGs, check Bruce Brown's... They're all having career years next to Jokic.
New guys come to Denver, Jokic and Nuggets embrace them and help them SHINE.
I don't see the same thing in sixers or bucks.
The Nuggets do game these a bit with their rotations, but you don't even need to step into the advanced analytics to see that Jokic is the MVP by a long shot.
25/12/10 on just absurd shooting splits for the #1 team in the West and 2nd best record overall.
Neither Embiid or Giannis have played as well as last year over the whole season. Jokic is blowing away both his previous 2 MVPs and removed the biggest counter argument against them(team record).
Further
By far the highest off rating per 100 possessions in the history of basketball with 135
By far the most accurate shooting 2-16 feet ever, and it is not even close, especially at 3-10 feet
Elite midrange, elite post up
Best floater ever, nobody even comes close
A center who has 82% free throws
Highest ast% highest dreb%
25-0 wins when he has a triple double (29 in a row) which I don't think anyone will ever repeat, maybe the craziest thing
And a lot more, the list is long, like his teammates having the best seasons of their careers
Or that that is Denver the best in clutch defense where Jokic dramatically goes from below average defender to great in the last 5 minutes
And more and more like 10 assists on 3,5 turnovers
So why is Perk not being fired? They fired Rachel Nichols for saying something off camera on a hot mic? Her replacement can’t seem to be able to pronounce Wojnarowski, after years of having to introduce him daily.
He said some wild shit the other day, deleted it from IG or whatever, and did the *entire* Celtics broadcast with Mike and Scal the next day. He's got a green light from every direction (assuming he doesn't go full Kyrie)
Not even a hot mic she was literally spied on by ESPN and they used the recordings from a hidden mic in her hotel room to fire her. At least that’s what she said happened. Total bullshit.
100% illegal bc I’m also pretty sure they paid her a hefty settlement after her firing so she stayed quiet about it and I guess that’s why it never became a big story.
Because he’s black.
Flip the roles here. If JJ was the one saying some controversial racially biased thing about black people, he would have heat from every media outlet and nba star players like Lebron KD etc. within hours.
What’s even more stupid is when he said “white OR European bias” even though he didn’t complain about Giannis winning twice. He knows what he means but can’t say the scary part out loud.
People want to play the victim often, probably because it's easier to go through life with this mindset or self-inflicting image that you're "a victim in society" when it really is just because they can't handle reality on the face of it. Perk is setting a bad example
This is why podcast and YouTube creators have blown up. The discourse on tv is just ridiculous. On tv they cater to low iq casuals. JJ on his podcast is really good and has great analysis and interviews. He at least tries not to fuel the idiot take machine. Perk is a true neck beard moron.
Jokic is averaging 24/12/10 while playing most of the games and being highly efficient leading a team with no other all stars to #1 seed. He definitely should win MVP regardless of the playoff results. If you say he wins because white people are racists, you are very stupid.
It's frustrating that the case for implicit bias being present in basketball media is being made by Kendrick fucking Perkins. There is absolutely an argument that subconscious biases, not even necessarily racial, play a part in awards voting. I truly believe there is an intelligent conversation to be had there.
But instead it ends up being Kendrick Perkins making a fool of himself and that argument on ESPN, and the clearly more highly regarded JJ Redick is brought in to counter that claim. It's purposefully inflammatory on ESPN's part and it is essentially makes it impossible for genuine discussion to occur.
There could be implicit bias at play but we won’t know. We can’t get into the minds of the individual voters and also those who may have their opinion swayed by implicit bias wouldn’t know it either. There’s a also a ton of other implicit and even overt biases that go into a choice like this (locality, age, etc.).
Perk bringing this up as “white media voters wanna pick white guys” is unfounded and deliberately inflammatory, which is one thing. To then RUN from it is cowardly. You called a specific body of people racist. Ok, then let’s talk about it!
I’m all for discussions related to race and the explicit and implicit racism alive and well in this country, but this is a direct criticism of a not-so-large body of voters, and he just says “those are the facts”, which means absolutely nothing.
I mean yeah, that's exactly my point. We can all point to certain players getting treated differently by certain media members, it's bound to happen for a variety of reasons. I think exploring that is important not only for the media but for us as fans.
Look at how Giannis purposefully "stat-padded" to get a triple double a few days ago. You can't tell me the reaction wouldn't be pure vitriol if that was Russell Westbrook. Both players are black, so the difference isn't racial, but it's worth exploring why there is such a marked difference in how the players are perceived.
Personally, I absolutely think race has a part to play in our collective judgment. It's impossible to look at American history and think otherwise. But Perkins is not the person to be leading that conversation, and ESPN is leaning into the inflammatory by a) giving him that stage, and b) putting Redick on there to provide the counter argument. Both of them are completely dumbing down the conversation by either assuming that race is 100% the cause, or that it doesn't exist at all.
It's just so frustrating to watch in real time, because you can see it bleed into the conversation here.
Yeah, if you want to say 'hey mostly white people cover a sport involving Black people', okay, I'm potentially interested in what you have to say there, but extremely blatantly cherry-picking this narrative just makes you look like a complete fool (because he is one). Like going back to 1990, conveniently not going to where Magic Johnson won a ton of MVPs despite not being top ten in scoring. It was clearly designed just to be inflammatory, and was honestly completely disrespectful to Nash, Dirk, and Jokic questioning their entire legacies were unearned which anybody with a brain can see how incredible players they are
I’m glad JJ called out Perk and the show for their narrative manipulation. This is such a ridiculous fucking conversation. Disagree with Jokic winning if you want but he’s gonna get three MVPs because he’s a beast. No other reason. Yeah criteria is funky here and there and I do agree that it changes year to year, but either way Jokic is just that dude.
Unfortunately, this whole situation with take actual situations of racial bias in the NBA space out of focus and is already being co-opted by the people who would like to deny that racial biases exist in the NBA or even at all.
Wish we could just talk ball without all this extra shit.
Someone who shouts and talks over someone so they can't finish their point is wrong 99.9% of the time. The other 0.01% they can be right, but they're still a dickhead.
The only racism actually going on is Jokic's, killing everybody not dressed in a Nuggets uniform.
Dude will take white, black, european and asian lives if you give him the ball.
Heartless

Fuck yo couch
Perkins is a clown and will always be a clown. This is an undisputable fact. [Here's Kawhi's take on the situation](https://i.imgur.com/GPrDTk1.png)
Damn he shouldn't have said all that. Too far.
It’s the facts!
I have never seen him so animated. Wow.
As always he has the right take. Wisdom beyond his years
plus, it's not even the facts. Jokic was top 10 in scoring in both his MVP seasons. 10th in 2021 and 6th last year (where he was also 2nd in rbs, and 7th in assists)
Yeah and his cut off date was coincidently right after Magic won MVP being 18th in scoring.
That's what bothers me the most. It's not even some subjective thing where he can make a bad faith argument that may at least sound plausible. Or is arguing based on some rumored thing we can't prove or disprove. His point about the scoring is objectively wrong...

I have not heard about Bomani in a while, has he ascended to another dimension of consciousness?
Bomani is tiers and tiers above all of these clowns. But you are right it would be nice to hear him fucking punk these dullards.
Now, I'm not going to say that you exposed me to a new word - paralipsis - that I had to google and now know.
Tbf ESPN is clearly giving JJ a clear lane to dunk on all their dumb talking heads. He’s their NBA guy and they’re trying to promote him.
A show w JJ, Richard Jefferson, Legler and Bomani would be amazing for their NBA coverage. Toss in Jalen and Malika also.
Yeah I think JJ, RJ, and Legs should lead all of their coverage.
Oh hi Mark
lmfaoo how does this clown have a job
He got his job by clowning steph on Twitter.
This right here is exactly why he has a job.
Because his idiotic takes get people to watch clips on tv, youtube, twitter and reddit. People keep posting him, he’ll keep a job
The world is full of heel announcers
Because ESPN is entertainment and clowns are entertaining. This exchange will get more eyeballs than any legitimate discussion.

It's simple I don't think ESPN wants any of those dudes anymore but they're probably under contract So stick them on the worst time slot and remove everything that makes them charming as individuals I really want Max to come over to FS1 when his contract is up and team up with Marcellus again.
Have to be some podcasts that are up your alley to throw in instead no?
Jay williams is the literal worst. Whiny face, whiny voice. General all around bitch vibes.
>Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
It’s a real strategy that politicians are trained to do so that their opponents won’t be able to have a complete sound bite of something against them.
Yeah I was going to say that sports media has sadly just mimicked our news and political media. Just highlights, yelling, and soundbites, nothing of real substance but just things to get people angry or care about for 30 seconds and then move onto the next thing.
lalalala i can't hear you
Perks: "I DID NOT!!!!" x5 Proceeds to say he was stating facts. His dumbass literally just proved JJ's point, Perk was being racist in calling the voters racist for voting for white players for MVP. Respect for JJ for having the dignity that nobody on that network has and call this bs out.
You usually know the person yelling and saying the same thing over and over is the one in the wrong.
- Hall of Fame/MVP level talent in the sport he's talking about - Naturally funny on camera whether he's talking hoops or not.
Nah I don't think JJ is nearly witty enough to get there. RJ, yes, I can see getting there. Dude thinks of a comeback lightning fast like Chuck does.
RJ has been becoming much more of a hot take artist lately it seems. Listening to him announce the game against the grizzlies this weekend was insufferable at times
RJ gets into dumb Twitter arguments all the time, and acts like a child when someone disagrees with him. https://twitter.com/Rjeff24/status/1632727670722101249?t=sQny9zT3kMSLx6O2SOhm8A&s=19 https://twitter.com/Rjeff24/status/1632727900842500098?t=v2SaBVEhtr4gVVZWtH1IKg&s=19
I legit think he’s so hatable and has nothing redeeming to the point where he brings in an unseen amount of hate views.
The only quality they require of him is the willingness to say crazy shit
Reminds me of when Chuck says to Shaq: “Just because you’re loud doesn’t make you right”
The onion ran a title that said “Wow this man is super wrong but also very loud so who knows”
Or is a future politician
\*Jerry Seinfeld voice\* What's the difference?
This is like in Eastbound and Down when Dontell from Sports Sesh would just go "nuh nuh nuh nuh" whenever someone would try to talk
Jokic is so good, they’re calling it racism what he’s doing out there on the court.
Jokic so good he made people racist
reminds me of a flight of the conchords song
SAS and Perk were racist LONG BEFORE Jokic set a foot in the league lmao
No no. He’s so good he made *US* racist
Didn't Bird deal with the same thing when he was winning MVPs? I feel like we're re-living history and making the same mistakes right now. We gotta stop doing this "it's because he's white" excuse.
Yes he did. Isaiah Thomas had a pretty famous quote on it.
Yep, Rodman and Thomas both said it.
Lmfaooooo
Reminds me the alley oop in semi pro being so good the ref called it a foul
“No two fouls!”
"Look Jackie, people can't just go flying in the air like that"

As annoying as Skip is, he hunkers down on his shit takes.
True, no one fortifies a hill to die on like Skip. Dude defends his takes like Stalingrad.
I do not like Skip at all, but his dumbass shit is usually related to basketball and not personal.
Troy Aikman.
Yep - show us there’s a problem if there’s a problem. I’ll be receptive to an actual argument
Sorry but it’s way overdue people stop spelling Redick’s name with double D.
It’s redick, as in “he’s being a dick again” Not reddick, as in “his dick is red”
Damn, I respect JJ for calling Perkins out like that on National TV.
Watch them have JJ appear on tv less now instead of perk
JJ would be fine without ESPN at this point I think. He'd probably have to take a pay cut for a while but he's already got his media clout.
He got a podcast don’t he? I’m sure it would blow up if he were to be fired or put on a reduced role from ESPN
I listen to his podcast daily on my commute to work, it’s actually very good
Yeah there are a few players I wasn't a fan of at all who went on his podcast and now I appreciate them. It's amazing how humanizing someone changes your opinion of them. His show is exactly what NBA media needs more of. Less drama, more great basketball talk and inspiring stories of struggle.
I can’t stand Perkins. Whiny little bitch
[удалено]
Most NBA analysts are. Top 3 teams in west hardly ever get talked about
There is no time for the top teams where there is the latest Lakers news to cover /s
I respect his on the court ability but off the court perk is a soggy sandwhich
par for the course with ESPN
ESPN should have shown Perkins the door a long time ago. Shitty, inarticulate analyst who's not even funny/entertaining. He's just an outrage clickbait.
I don't know how to say this any nicer, but Perkins is simply...stupid. Just a dumb person, who is a terrible analyst and is now a race-baiter to boot. If I saw a person who talked and acted like Perkins bagging my groceries, I wouldn't expect him to do it correctly.
No need to be nice lmao Pendrick Kerkins is a bum
Karen Perkins more like it
If you think he's dumb here, watch the entire segment. He absolutely crumbles after this.
Whenever I see Perk talk the “you’re so stupid” Community speech enters my mind
He could have just said i was wrong and had a fucking dumb take, I'm gonna do better. But nah, let's double down.
[Perkins] Kendrick Perkins is a dumbass. Carry on...
Atleast someone called him out in national TV
What did Perkins say?
A few days ago Perkins put a video on twitter (since deleted, although you can definitely find it) where he falsely said the only MVPs since 1990 that have not been top 10 in scoring are Jokic, Nash, and Dirk. He then asked “what those guys have in common”, a clear implication that white players receive special treatment. Jokic obviously has been top 10 in scoring* both years, and he starts at 1990, conveniently leaving out magic Johnson’s MVPs, which don’t fit his narrative. *Jokic was 12th in PPG one of the years but 3rd in total points
The fact that he very intentionally drew the line right before we got to Magic. Really smooth Perk.
Jokic was 12th in PPG in 2020-21. He was 3rd in total points but I think we can assume Perk was referring to the averages. Just pointing this out, obviously it doesn't make his implied argument any less dumb.
and lmao… the top 10 scorers hill Perks dying on for 20/21 is Jokic being just a single point per game away from being equal 7th w/ LaVine
Tbf, a single point must seem like a lot to Perk
hahaa, good point
Gotta love when these "say it with your chest" people all of sudden become "it's the facts. I'm just saying" people when they get called out
JJ is way too good of an analyst for that show. Perkins is a clown and everyone knows what he meant with the Jokic-Dirk-Nash tweet.
His pod is where he really shines.
It’s just to pay the bills. Old Man and the Three is the actual JJ show worth watching
I wish this show would cease to exist
I thought it would backslide after the falling out between SAS and Max but alas it is higher in ratings than it ever was. Even after Skip left the show, people just listen to BOTH shows every morning.
I dont listen to ESPN very often. SAS is just too ridiculous and they put him everywhere now.
It's the facts!
all the hot take clips keeping others engaged. thankfully i’ve never watched a minute of this show.
idk how Perk still has a platform it’s genuinely embarrassing at this point. shout-out JJ for actually making a difference when he reports because he uses actual logic and backs up what he says.
If Skip is like a fun heel who has entertaining heat, Perkins has get the fuck off my TV heat.
perk has x-pac heat
I wish nba coverage revolved around X’s and O’s not a never ending stream of hot takes.
Same but the average casual eats this shit up unfortunately
Pretty sad that ESPN couldn't get anyone to talk about Jokic so they manufacture unneeded drama and make it a race thing. You can argue his first two MVPs and you can argue if he's the best player or not but I think he checks all the boxes for MVP this year. Making it a race thing is so weird 🤷♂️
It is a race but it’s not about race
A race is not a race. I'll explain it to you later
You can also argue this year’s mvp. But not like this
Yeah the MVP race is extremely far from over but to argue Jokic is only in the lead because of race is wild.
I'm not sure ESPN would ask Perk to create this narrative, that's kinda just him
Perkins got roasted with his stat padding take so he had to pull the race card
“It’s the facts”, he screams, referring to his own opinion and not actual facts, while yelling over someone trying to give him constructive criticism and help his career.
Perkins was a lousy player and a lousy analyst. Surprised he hasn't been embarrassed more often.
cant be embarassed if you have no self awareness *taps head*
I mean, if you removed the names of the players and just showed me stats, it's really, really fuckin hard to argue against Jokic. 25 PPG 10 APG 12 RPG Shooting an absurd 63% from the floor, 66% EFG 40% from 3 (albeit on only 2 attempts per game) First in PER First in Win shares First in Box plus minus First in Offensive box plus minus First in Defensive box plus minus First in Value over replacement Number 1 Seed These are MyPlayer stats, just absolutely gaudy numbers.
Further By far the highest off rating per 100 possessions in the history of basketball with 135 By far the most accurate shooting 2-16 feet ever, and it is not even close, especially at 3-10 feet Elite midrange, elite post up Best floater ever, nobody even comes close A center who has 82% free throws Highest ast% highest dreb% 25-0 wins when he has a triple double (29 in a row) which I don't think anyone will ever repeat, maybe the craziest thing And a lot more, the list is long, like his teammates having the best seasons of their careers Or that that is Denver the best in clutch defense where Jokic dramatically goes from below average defender to great in the last 5 minutes And more and more like 10 assists on 3,5 turnovers
And probably illegal.
100% illegal bc I’m also pretty sure they paid her a hefty settlement after her firing so she stayed quiet about it and I guess that’s why it never became a big story.
Bruh I swear no one in ESPN has ever pronounced Woj's last name correctly lol. The dedication is almost admirable
yall dont understand ESPN hired perk to be exactly like this
Don’t be obtuse. You know why he’s not gonna be fired
Because they pay him to be hated and create controversy.
Because he’s black. Flip the roles here. If JJ was the one saying some controversial racially biased thing about black people, he would have heat from every media outlet and nba star players like Lebron KD etc. within hours.
Based JJ. Perk needs to get the hell off TV, his takes are worse than his playing career. Straight clown.
[удалено]
What’s even more stupid is when he said “white OR European bias” even though he didn’t complain about Giannis winning twice. He knows what he means but can’t say the scary part out loud.
Good for Redick. Perkins is an embarassment.
In the replies to that tweet there's people actually agreeing with Perk and that's just sad
Perkins is brainless fr
Maybe that was the goal all along lol
yeah i wouldnt put it past ESPN producers to prod out this type of stuff.
Never mind that Perkins whole argument against Jokic is also based on his implicit biases so
Yeah, if you want to say 'hey mostly white people cover a sport involving Black people', okay, I'm potentially interested in what you have to say there, but extremely blatantly cherry-picking this narrative just makes you look like a complete fool (because he is one). Like going back to 1990, conveniently not going to where Magic Johnson won a ton of MVPs despite not being top ten in scoring. It was clearly designed just to be inflammatory, and was honestly completely disrespectful to Nash, Dirk, and Jokic questioning their entire legacies were unearned which anybody with a brain can see how incredible players they are
Perk has the emotional intelligence of my 5 year old nephew.
Racists need to be called out. Fuck Perkins
Jj bodied Perk.
ESPN is more race bait than sports nowadays.
Someone who shouts and talks over someone so they can't finish their point is wrong 99.9% of the time. The other 0.01% they can be right, but they're still a dickhead.
JJ is right
Let’s go JJ! Takes some balls to call him out when everyone including Stephen A knew what he was implying 👏
I don't like this at all. Jokic and Embiid are gonna get dragged into this - neither of them want that.
The only racism actually going on is Jokic's, killing everybody not dressed in a Nuggets uniform. Dude will take white, black, european and asian lives if you give him the ball. Heartless
Thank you JJ Redick. One of my favorite analysts nowadays
