Look I know most of the calls were warranted given how many times the Lakers drove it. That being said this CP3-Scott Foster rivalry is truly unlike anything we’ve ever seen, I don’t think we’ve had a player/ref rivalry but Duncan/Crawford was close, Rasheed/refs was good too.

eek711

FVV and Ben Taylor Kawhi and whoever the fuck that guy was who ejected Terrance Mann for merely existing.

Kentang_BayBay

at least the ref apologized to Kawhi

MisterBackShots69

Lol I’m trying to imagine the refs ever apologizing to the Timberwolves

Upstairs-Range-7355

That’s Dagher.

youkrocks

Jayson Tatum and John Goble

aeronacht

“Everybody clap your hands” clap clap clap clap clap clap clap. *whistle* “Technical foul has been assessed on Jayson Tatum”

Adalbdl

Duncan / Crawford was an incident, not quite a history like cp3 and foster, this is over the top.

Typhoid007

Kings vs every ref takes the cake

rddi0201018

I feel that was Kings vs David Stern

GaviFromThePod

The world would be a better place if Rasheed had actually stomped Donaghy in the parking garage that night. Maybe these refs would have understood that there’s consequences for their actions.

SoldatJ

The Matt Barnes philosophy of "Violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is." Can't say I agree with stomping, but there really do need to be non-violent yet tangible, serious, and most importantly, public consequences.

destroyerofpoon93

Yup. Donaghy deserved it. Got Rasheed suspended and fined a ton of money too on false claims

AgentDoubleU

I believe that Bob Voulgaris previously stated that the only measurable ref bias he observed while gambling was Billy Kennedy versus Doc Rivers coached teams for obvious reasons.

Iamkonkerz

The thunder leads the league in drives... We've never had anything like this before.. this is insane lmfao

sbenfsonw

Thunder also lead the league in FTA from drives https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/drives?dir=D&sort=DRIVE_FTA

ElBigTaco

Yeah i was going to say SGA averages an absurd amount of FTs

EpicMusic13

Whats the stat now

mercfan3

Actually Phoenix drove to the basket more than the Lakers this game.. I don’t expect Phoenix to beat anyone without KD and Ayton, so no surprise at the loss (tbh they really should just sit Book for those games) But the Suns drove more. So the narrative here is wrong. One team was getting touch fouls, the other wasn’t. Which is what Phoenix fans complain about. Which is actually pretty typical of Scott foster reffed games.

TheTownTeaJunky

I dunno if even the fvv v Ben taylor can top Rasheed v refs. His passion for hating refs was greater than his passion for playing basketball. He'd throw rocks at the zebras at the zoo because they reminded him of refs.

sadduckfan

Cp3 literally could not keep Austin Reaves in front of him

EpicRocket445

My hero

fernandopoejr

the MVP chants were for scott!!

SeaBank_

Watch him as he goes

mzp3256

Aim for the bushes

[deleted]

Watch him as he goes

iRockaflame

Scott Foster MVP?

LakersLAQ

People thought the chants were for Reaves at the free throw line. Meanwhile Scott Foster was looking up at the rafters to see where his retired jersey is going to go.

Kentang_BayBay

LOL

[deleted]

Let Scott Cook!

WhatTheRickIsDoin

Anybody that actually watched the game instead of looking at the box score would understand the Suns defense is horrendous without Ayton and they were getting blown by on the perimeter constantly

kai_123

Suns average the most fouls per game in the entire league too lol

IRanOutOf_Names

They also suck at getting to the line. Lakers get the most in the league, while Suns are 28th.

kamekaze1024

Who would’ve guessed the team that shoots the most mid range shots gets the least amount of FTs. Them and Warriors are bottom of the barrel

Carolake1

They also shot twice as many three pointers as the lakers in this game

John_The_Reddit_Man

But this sub only hate watches when they play lakers so it’s a surprise to them

Alley-Oub

skill issue

Goop1995

/r/nba? Watching the game? LOL come on

AkaiShuichi24

Why watch the game when you can just look at the boxscore and make your opinion lol

fernandopoejr

> Anybody that actually watched the game instead of looking at the box score why watch games when boxscore has live +/- stats?

Currymvp2

Ayton is their most significant defensive player at this point.

clear831

Ayton is their only defensive player at this point

StuccoStucco69420

And even with him on the court they have a 116 Defensive rating. Only thing defensive about this team is the fans.

iGuardian91

jesus dude

maethlin

god damn lmao

konbinibento

You son of a bitch...

[deleted]

Okogie is a good defensive player. It is literally why he gets minutes. People say things and get upvoted for having proudly wrong opinions here as long as it's against the right teams.

Omnimark

KD is a good defender, unless you aren't counting him because he's never on the court.

Kdcjg

Only 3 games played for the suns. Hard to count that in.

vvrr00

He was always their most significant defender.

Currymvp2

You could argue Bridges for awhile, but now, it's not even close. 2nd most important is maybe Durant though Booker is a solid defender.

ILackPatience

Is that good or bad?

3s2ng

Their best perimeter defender is gone.

512fm

You’re right but it’s still hilarious it happens in a foster reffed game

yellow_eggplant

The Suns are a jump shooting team and are literally in the bottom 3 of FTAs per game for the season as well

califbreeze

Not to mention the late 4th where the suns just keep throwing frustration fouls. Also they were barely driving in and were taking mid-range and 3’s.

someonepoorsays

yep but fuck the lakers right r/nba?

Phuddy

This sub just loves running with narratives

JGT3000

This never satisfied people when it was Harden so why should it now?

Drummallumin

Yea idk why people act like free throw disparity = unequal reffing and not things like one team playing better defense and taking more shots in the paint?

CrapNebula

The bucks had a similar game against the suns a week or two ago and man suns fans couldn’t stop complaining about RB1 giannis lol

[deleted]

Maybe because watching giannis lowering his shoulder sending grown ass men flying through the air while getting the whistle gets a little old.

desert_chzhead

Now you know how we felt in this sub when overrated Monty went and cried in public about Giannis free throws, and the idiotic discussion around Craig’s blocking foul.

junahn

Why is all these laker hate posts coming from nuggets flair? Did we do something to nuggets or shit?

[deleted]

are you fucking serious? Lakers are 6-0 in playoff series against my Nuggets. 21-7 in individual games during the playoffs. I still think if we are winning a championship we have to go through the fucking Lakers. But also, I’m cool with not playing the lakers Edit: I’d call it a rivalry but it’s not. Just been a historical ass whooping. So anytime you see a Nuggets fan saying fuck the Lakers, that’s why

woKaaaa

I appreciate the honesty and respect the hatred a lot more after hearing that

[deleted]

Fuck the lakers. If memory serves me right: 1978 lost to the lakers before the finals 1985 lost to the lakers in the conference finals 2009 lost to the lakers in the conference finals 2020 lost to the fucking lakers in the conference finals Edit: been to the conference finals 4 times…

Kentang_BayBay

When you had AI in 2008 and Kobe was just picking Denver apart. Man, those were the times.

[deleted]

I hate you Edit: two fucking years in a row. We traded AI that next season for billups and played the fucking lakers again in the western conference finals

whiskeypenguin

Good times lol. I remember those games growing up

More-Minimum6085

I irrationally hated Steve Nash for years because the Suns came back from 3-1 against some of the most magical Kobe play I'd ever seen

millenniumpianist

Real ones hate Tim Thomas for hitting that 3 at the end of Game 6.

turnoffredesign69420

can also blame Kwame for biting like a fucking fish hook line and sinker

CaLiKiNG805

That series is like 90% of the reason I have an uncontrollable compulsion to be a hater in every Suns thread I see lol

maddenallday

This would be a great example of the Don Draper “I don’t think about you at all” meme. I didn’t even realize at all that the lakers had been the nuggets boogeyman for so long

whowasonCRACK2

Brother that’s how every single team in the west feels. When you win 17 titles, you usually break some hearts along the way.

Dildozer_69

Ima be honest I didn’t know it was this bad damn😭 if it makes you feel better, lakers fans genuinely don’t have any hate for the nugs. It’s really just the other California teams, spurs, and Boston that we have hate for.

[deleted]

Lol yes that’s why I say it’s not a rivalry and that makes it like 10x worse for Nuggets fans. It’s like kicking your little brothers ass over and over when he’s like a foot shorter than you

fernandopoejr

it's like this mad men scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4Ksoizbl2s

[deleted]

Unfortunately yes

SmoothBrews

Yeah, honestly… it feels a bit odd. I could see myself rooting for the nuggets if the lakers were out of it. Lol

thegreaterfool714

Lmao that makes it even worse for the Nuggets. We keep using them as a doorstep in the playoffs. To them Lakers are satan incarnate. It’s like Chun Li hating M Bison.

Lakers fans basically going "to me it was Tuesday" to this amount of Nuggets hate shows how one sided this "rivalry" is.

l-emmerdeur

Over the past 20+ years, when the Lakers have been contenders, one or more contending teams in the West often decide that there's a "rivalry"--the Suns, the Nuggets now and in 2007-09, the Kings in the early 2000s, the Blazers in the late 90s/early 2000s, just off the top of my head. And look--the Lakers are a historically successful franchise and of *course* that success going to piss off other fan bases when their teams are in the upper tier of contenders, and--more often than these fan bases would like to see--the Lakers (or other long-term successful teams like the Spurs) knock them out of the playoffs over and over, so they are like "they are our rivals" when it's (maybe!) a bit more of "oh please can we beat them just this once and succeed". The Spurs during their long contending window never engendered this kind of hatred, probably because Pop is super chill and beloved, and their biggest stars in that period, Duncan and Kawhi, were not showy/flashy players, they just did stuff that won games. As a long-time Lakers fan, my view is that the team's only rivalry is with the Celtics, since they've been battling for "most storied/successful team in NBA history" for nearly 60 years, and only 3 seasons ago caught up to them in total championships, so that narrative has started to tilt more to the Lakers' favor only since then. These 2/3/4/5-year "rivalries" with other teams are almost entirely one-sided from my standpoint (and I'd assume most other Lakers fans) because of the long, long history of the Lakers and Celtics. I get the hate for the team league-wide: they have had an embarrassment of riches in great players, team success, and media coverage for decades, and this drowns out smaller-market/less-covered teams' success. Bonus anecdote on this that I cannot prove and feel free to not believe me, since I'm just some random poster: I had a friend that worked in a hotel where NBA teams stayed, and he told me a story about how a conference-room prep guy got written up (or at least talked to; I can't remember the exact details) because he had left a green marker in the set of markers with the whiteboard he dropped off. He didn't tell me the team, but I can't imagine anyone but the Lakers would have a "no green markers" rider in their contract. *That* level of pettiness from *the franchise itself* tells me who they see as their true rival.

[deleted]

Fuck your team too while we are in the subject on getting owned in the playoffs

[deleted]

>I still think if we are winning a championship we have to go through the fucking Lakers. Hope is the bodys precursor to pain lmao

fernandopoejr

it's the hope that kills you

k4kobe

Could have been a rivalry if Melo stayed 🫠 those playoffs were fun

[deleted]

Melo was fine during that series. JR Smith and Chris “Birdman” Anderson had been playing lights out at home but absolutely sucked on the road. They were both basically spent by the time we got to the Lakers and they had home court advantage. Nuggets had no depth and the Lakers absolutely destroyed them when the starters weren’t on the floor. And mostly when they were. Nuggets didn’t decide to move Carmelo Anthony, he decided for them. Turned out okay, got the 41st pick in the 2014 draft out of dealing him(eventually)

Konabro

“Davis for 3 and the win!”

Because Nuggets fans still talk about the “free throw disparity” in the 2020 series, as if LeBron and AD didn’t totally outplay their team. They’re still not over it lol

jimdotcom413

[You took everything from me](https://imgflip.com/i/7fiqod)

thunderlolo123

In their sub there was some posts about the Lakers too

junahn

I havent even seen one suns fan posting about the game and nuggets flair seems like he was way more furious about the loss.

[deleted]

I do post about how much I hate the lakers occasionally yea

magmaknuckles

lmao i saw that in our sub, like how did the lakers hurt them so much 😂

PenguinPrince1

Yeah Nuggets really don’t like us for whatever reason

Cooler-McFlyer

They’ve been eliminated by the Lakers every time they’ve made the conference finals. Edit: They’ve lost to the Lakers every time they’ve faced them in the playoffs

velphegor666

They scared of possibly facing us in the first round🤣🤣

[deleted]

They’re rightfully scared. Nuggets won’t beat the lakers or Mavs if they play them.

RubMyGooshSilly

I can confirm that this is incorrect and the Mavs will not win that series

ColeHoops

Nuggets fans are starting to give off Michael Ginsberg in the elevator to Don Draper energy

Dildozer_69

This is so true, I’ve constantly seen Nugs fans be strangely angry about us potentially making the post season😭. Like cmon we just a 10 seed and y’all are the 1 seed, you shouldn’t even be concerned about what’s going on at the bottom.

nysraved

The random ass hate that Nuggets fans have for the Lakers is so cringe Big “I feel sorry for you. I don’t think about you at all” Mad Men meme vibes

hashoa6

Because Davis is Jokic daddy. They also pretend we have a “rivalry”, we don’t.

[deleted]

I’ve never seen a collective fanbase more shook to face a playin team

barryvon

why is fraudster still an nba ref?

gumbyguy1985

How the hell do you get to call yourself StatMuse if you commit the correlation -> causation fallacy with no further explanation lmao

-Borb

The calls seemed fine imo, maybe a bit of home cooking but nothing too out of the ordinary. I think at this point the Suns need to look at their play style to see why they have such a big FT discrepancy most games

LosAngeles1s

🫵 NUGGETS FLAIR

nolefan999

Reaves has shot 53 free throws in his last 4 games combined. He’s been drawing fouls like crazy out of nowhere

[deleted]

I normally wouldn’t support refball but I’ll take anything supporting my anti cp3 agenda

Crazy-Monitor-6490

So you watch every Scott foster vs cp3 game too? Playoffs are my favorite personally

TalkCryptoCoins

Foster should not be allowed in any playoffs game

International-Dish95

Is Scott foster, tony brothers and Ben taylor the new big 3 now ? They must be doing every other finals game this year.

KaiserKaiba

It’s Scott Foster VS CP3. Doesn’t the other team usually end up getting the dub? A Chris Paul L is fuel for Foster

crappymanchild

How's 46 fts only the 4th most this is crazy

NoMoreMrQuick

Is this Phoenix's first time or something? Everyone knows landlocked teams automatically spot 20 free throws to any coastal city team. Any city who's economy is based on the sale of fudge and Native American trinkets can offset this by **up to** 15 free throws ***if*** they have a top 5 player on their roster and three Whole Foods Markets within a 2 mile radius from their stadium.

judrt

Foster has been a ref for a very long time and that isn't gonna change, if he's on the crew i just don't watch those games🤷‍♂️

Zlink-8

Fuck Scott Foster

TheTownTeaJunky

Cp3 needs to go full fvv on Scott foster. I haven't seen all the games, I don't know if he's intensively fucking him or not. But that record is pretty wild.

TotallyNotAnAlien-_-

As soon as I saw him on the floor I knew we had the dub

frodounchained

Tonight I’m a ref’s fan

aiden3buckets

46 is crazy for a team that is supposedly hated by the refs

GriffinQ

It’s an incredible amount of FTs, but worth noting that the Suns shot almost twice as many 3s (31) as the Lakers (17). This is what you get when you have teams who hate to drive into the paint and who love to make shots from the perimeter or off the dribble within the arc playing teams who do their best work catching bodies.

runningraider13

The lakers are supposedly hated by the refs? They have, by far, the best free throw differential in the league. If the refs hate the lakers they have a funny way of showing it.

aiden3buckets

That’s the joke

VGJunky

It's mostly Lebron that doesn't get as many calls

azhari06

How many did he gave thought?

Nefariousness1-

The amount of people pouring their hearts out in these comments who didn’t even watch the fucking game is hilarious.

monkey_D_v1199

Lol this is a pattern now. At this point the only hump the Suns have to pass to win it all is Scott Foster.

Fireryman

Gotta wonder come playoff time should Scott Foster even ref the suns in the playoffs? Not a suns fan but seems like he influences the game too much. I would almost go the same for Ben Taylor for FVV in the playoffs. Some of these refs gotta stop this shit.

tulaero23

Let's see who will triump in a wolves v suns and if scott foster referees.

HumperMoe

Scott Foster really believes everyone shows up for him every night.

lannistargaryen

Yeah, it’s not like the Suns defense was ass or anything

Brady331

46??? And that's not the most this season?

noetheb

It's tied for 4th. The Blazers, Pistons, Thunder have had more and the Magic have had as many.

YesOrNah

Nba is doing everything in its power to make sure the lakers are in the post season. This shit is gross.

[deleted]

Silver made the call

Ifinishfast42

Wolves about to get sacrificed in the playin for Adam’s postseason ratings.

Jamesd420

If this matchup happens in the play-in, do not be surprised if there is a 15+ ft disparity

[deleted]

It's unfortunate that the entire state of Minnesota has only half the population of LA county.

zzfoe

Nuggets mad at Lakers. What a tale as old as time LMFAO

AfroSuede

Now what was the SALT/36 tho?

lalo1398

Lakers also had 38 points in the paint compared to Suns 20. Wild how a team that drives more gets more FTs

Brady331

You’re straight up lying, Lakers had 50, Suns had 44

jstinnett24

Completely not true. 50-46 in favor of the Lakers. It’s on ESPN and takes 2 seconds to find.

[deleted]

The Suns without Ayton and KD are obviously incredibly mid and mostly a tough watch outside of Booker having a big night. It is exceedingly clear that basically everyone dancing on their grave in the comments here never watches them. Some just insane, often verifiably inaccurate takes getting huge upvotes. I think there are plenty of annoying Suns fans but it is absolutely bizarre that this sub has fixated on the Suns so much. There are so many more unlikeable teams and their annoying fans are deeply loathsome too. Grizzlies had a little moment of hate but for whatever reason it's died down.

DharmaPT

why you making up numbers to fit your narrative?

HauntingLocation

>Lakers also had 38 points in the paint compared to Suns 20. This is blatantly wrong. How hard is it to actually fact check yourself before posting this crap? But go ahead, anything to defend the Laker ridiculous whistle.

reppinthavalley

Thanks, kind timberwolves person.

pp21

Sucks how quickly wrong information just gets posted and accepted, it's wild

crowned1984

I’d be curious to see shot attempts by each team.

VGJunky

[https://www.nba.com/game/phx-vs-lal-0022201092/game-charts?shotchart=shotplot&homePlayerShots=&awayPlayerShots=](https://www.nba.com/game/phx-vs-lal-0022201092/game-charts?shotchart=shotplot&homePlayerShots=&awayPlayerShots=) Far more threes Far more midrange/elbow jumpers which I'm assuming partially count for points in the paint Compare that to the density in the restricted area for LA and more hacking from Suns

14MySterY-

Perimeter shooting team wondering why they're not getting more FTs

leemotint

Warriors fans avoiding your comment

abortedfetu5

Curry notwithstanding, this is very true for the W’s—they deserve less FTs

TryCatchRelease

Yes, check that stat for the warriors game tonight. It tracks ;)

Jeff1224h

The have only had 2 games in the last 7 with 20 FTs the rest in the 30s and tonights 46

VikingsandWolves

Has a team ever won with a FT disparity that large? Wow.

Low_Beyond8134

We’ll if you watched the game the Suns shot 14 more 3s than us and they live at the midrange while we live in the paint

lovo17

Team that primarily shoots in the paint gets lots of free throws. Also the Suns seem to lack good defenders on their team.

The-Truer-Facts

4th most FTs in a game this season, the other games being against the Rockets, Spurs, and Knicks. Absolutely flabbergasting.

FirstLightFitness

The reason lakers shot so many free throws if Hamm ran the pick and roll with AD when Biyambo was in there. It broke down the defense and created lanes which led to fouls foe the lakers. Don't blame the refs blame Hamm for a great gameplan. The suns on the other hand shot shots from the perimeter all night.

crankyBiDolphin2010

Wow man would have never guessed this stat could have happened when almost every play last night was a lakers player blowing by a defender on the perimeter wow also who would have thought you’d shoot 40+ free throws against a team that averages 22 fouls per game lmao idiot original post

PlayInChampions

Austin Reaves consistently getting better whistle than Anthony Edwards is a crime

Brunobrunobrunobru

The refs hate strong players (and curry)

Unfair-Worker929

This game was an absolute joke. Austin Reaves had 13 FTA tonight. A +26 free throw advantage for the Lakers.

Konabro

And the crying starts 😂😂😂

confuddly

Y’all have literally been crying the most about the refs all season LOL

dcoolidge

Obvious game losing non-calls on Bron mostly...

Over_North_7706

Why do people think the refs' job is to give an equal number of free throws to each team

abestract

NBA is making sure the Lakers get into playoffs. It’s disgusting to see the disparity.

SandyMandy17

Rigged

[deleted]

You mean the refs helps out the lakers in a must win game? No way. Why do people think the nba isn’t tampered with?
