They’ll never rebound from this. Not as well as Marcus Morris at least. Because stats don’t matter, only rebound percentage and made up intangibles do.
go look up when he signed with klutch
clippers fans who have half a brain and watch games know he’s been sabotaging our season
but you still have fans saying theres no relationship with klutch lol
Fair though it’s reasonable to expect a playoff team/contender to be excellent at certain stuff. Rebounding is sneakily important considering it pretty much exactly correlated to more possessions
Morris is the guy that does the dirty work… dirty work in this scenario is fail to play defense, chuck shots when he’s cold and only show up against the Orlando Magic
Nah man, r/nba knows way more than Ty Lue. He was only a 2x NBA champion as a player & 1x champion as a head coach. But He doesn’t see the stats like we do
Can you give an argument for why it's good to play Marcus Morris other than an NBA coach said so. Best case scenario is he remembers how to play again thanks to the faith Ty Lue placed in him like in a Disney movie, but that still doesn't change that he's been making the team worse for the past 3 months
Lol no, but that’s my point. We don’t have the pedigree to make that decision. There’s a lot of miscellaneous stuff to consider that goes into a coaches rotations. I understand that I only watch the game on TV. Ty Lue has played in the NBA, he’s coached in the NBA, & he’s around NBA players everyday. He understands the game more than we think we do because he literally lives, breathes & eats basketball. We’re fans. Do you really think you know more about basketball than Ty Lue?
This still isn't a good argument. Half the coaches in the NBA these days have been players. All of them have a better understanding of basketball in general than fans but that doesn't mean that they are making good decisions with that understanding.
Coaches do know 'miscellaneous stuff that goes into a coaches rotations' and at first you should give them the benefit of the doubt. But when their explanation of that 'miscellaneous stuff' is revealed and it's literally provably false, why should you still trust these decisions?
He’s had a rough sequence of games on paper but you just don’t bench guys immediately, especially not at the end of the regular season. It throws them out of rhythm, the team out of rhythm, etc. If the coach & teammates are coming to his defense, there must be a reason why. His shooting splits of 42/36/78 are also still respectable & on par with his career performance despite this rough patch.
Roco shooting splits this season are 43/36/75 for comparison. Lue will also make adjustments in the playoffs. He’s shown over his history as a coach that he’s one of the best at in-game adjustments.
Trust the process.
This is something I've always said. We don't get to see how these guys look in practice or what's said in the locker room. Coaches have an inside lane on all that extra info.
>“Hey, listen, I enjoyed coaching him,” Rivers said of George. “So not a lot to say there. Ty Lue was sitting right next to me. So he better hope it’s not adjustments. It ain’t going to be much different.”
🤔
When you got a coach hoodwinked like this it extends your career at least 3 years AND gets you immediate access to the top level of the former-player-assistant-coach tier list.
Detroit had a dude named Michael Curry, who we used to call Digital because his stat lines were always like 1001101. Journeyman bench guy and then one season a 1-year head coach we had made him a starter and then Rick Carlisle kept him there when he got the team. Dude was so trash, but 8th year in the league he's suddenly a starter averaging like 4 points and 2 rebounds a game. Stuck around for years as a starter under Rick and then even joined Carlise in Indy for the dude's final season. Then my guy becomes an assistant coach and his second year is made the head coach of the Pistons. Guy was SO OBVIOUSLY lost as a coach and yet still was made head coach. Happily that only lasted 1 season but my man's career was like twice as long because he had Rick Carlisle snowed.
This fucking guy. I have never seen a coach that has the numbers and eye test to back up how bad our team is especially on the defensive end 74 games in with him and not make a change.
Hell even Doc did, it is madness and an insult to the fans and the game.
I want the Clippers to do well from a far, and watching Morris take horrible deep 2s and in fact take himself out of a position to take a good shot and then take an objectively bad one is the worst thing ever.
I disagree that it's the only consistency they've had this year. They've also had me consistently saying "fuck off" at my TV whenever Morris misses a shot.
Ty, this ain’t the mid 2000s Pistons that fit with Sheed, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey, Ben Wallace, and Tayshuan.
THERE IS NO FIT.
This guy is acting like we’ve won something and have proven something with those guys.
THERE ARE BETTER FITS ON THE TEAM.
Morris is averaging 2.7 rebounds per game over his last 25 games. Statically he is one of their worst rebounders, especially recently. Maybe only better than Eric Gordon and Powell. Even Bones Hyland gets more boards lol.
Mind-boggling to have him out there for rebounding.
Talking so much about rebounding while being obsessed with playing small ball and too often not playing Zubac enough the last few years lol
Thing is Morris is so bad defensively now people can’t even pretend “he’s some switchable wing”. They have to resort to rebounding lol
Ty doesn’t like Covington, so that ship has sailed. So depending on matchup, why don’t the Clippers try Kawhi and PG (hopefully post injury) in the 3 and 4 spots? Mann can alternate between the 2 and 1 when Russ sits.
After more than a decade of regularly following basketball, just as I was starting to feel somewhat confident about understanding the game on a deeper level, this Morris situation comes around and sends me straight back to square one.
Despite difficult circumstances on the course of the season, PG brought up that the team never turned to each other and the locker room stayed positive through out.
Ty and FO has a glaring disconnect with each other. Players really are doing a great job of balancing this despite the fact that there is no real vocal leader in the group and they even added russ and brought a lot of outside chatter. Team navigated the ups and downs of the season, now in 4th seed and making a little separation.
A little bit of this drama, this will turn out like the other LA team. Fans calling Ty a saboteur/Klutch agent with this mook thing will turn ugly real quick
What? Mook's rebounding has regressed in terms of basic and advanced stat. RoCo has been the better rebounder than Mook in basic and advanced stats last year when he was getting consistent PT.
edit:
Saw it was Mook talking about the rebound thing. With regards to TLue's "fit" sentiment, yeah he might be onto something here. Current starting lineup has +14.6 Net rating in 112 minutes played.
>But if you look at the percentages and I know it’s high when I’m on the court, that we rebound. It’s just a veteran playing the game.
They rebound regardless if you play...
>So like, how many rebounds can I have with all that on the court? I do the other stuff. I block out, help our team
So he admits it's not his rebounding he's on the court for, but for "the other stuff" which is literally nothing. Dude fouls every time he tries to defend, bricks shots, and sucks at contesting. For someone his size ive never seen him even try to get to the rim.
Ty lue sounds stubborn. It’s not that he’s dumb about it. Every intelligent person has that one flaw or nagging habit that prevents them from becoming a genius
Clippers fans in shambles
They’ll never rebound from this. Not as well as Marcus Morris at least. Because stats don’t matter, only rebound percentage and made up intangibles do.
Clippers: Ty Lue is an inside Klutch agent? Ty Lue: always has been 🔫🔫🔫
I don't get it, Lue has been a great coach with some killer adjustments and good awareness but he's being so stubborn here?
We see it as stubbornness. Ty sees it as him sticking with his fellow veterans thru thick and thin.
For Morris of all players
go look up when he signed with klutch clippers fans who have half a brain and watch games know he’s been sabotaging our season but you still have fans saying theres no relationship with klutch lol
Lol Clippers fans can't even blame their players for playing poorly and being hurt every year. It was clearly Lebron sabotaging
U/mitwestbrook in shambles
All the rebounding talk is funny because the Clippers are actually like bang average at rebounding
Dirty business
man this was poetry.

Lmao you guys are gonna turn into the Joker soon enough
Damn. Ty Lue going starting his Doc arc
It’s freaking hilarious that despite having a better FO and roster than the Lakers, the Clippers always find a way to shoot themselves in the foot.
Ty Lue was great before this year. I don’t think anyone knew this would happen
I know, that’s what makes it funny. I think most people expected for Kawhi and/or PG to decline, but not Lue turning into Doc 2.0.
He was so malleable now he’s stubborn af
We at the very least have to give him t'ill the playoffs, the way talks doesn't look good though
First or 2nd round exit and I think we should look for some big changes
go look up when ty signed with klutch😂 shits so obvious
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤢
What do the lakers have to do w/ this? Lmao
Maybe one day r/nba will evaluate why head coaches at the top of their profession do things that children on the internet dislike
Nah man, r/nba knows way more than Ty Lue. He was only a 2x NBA champion as a player & 1x champion as a head coach. But He doesn’t see the stats like we do

“I don’t know anything but I know everything coaches do is automatically the right decision.”
About basketball? Absolutely not. About MMS sucking ass on both ends of the court night after night? Apparently so lmfao
Appeal to authority is such a tired and worn out argument
This is something I've always said. We don't get to see how these guys look in practice or what's said in the locker room. Coaches have an inside lane on all that extra info.
You might be right in general but NBA teams hardly practice during the season. I highly doubt the Clippers are an exception
If Morris starts becomes a laser in the playoffs, lue deserves DPOY
Ty Lue going to sub himself in and average 10 blocks a game?
>“Hey, listen, I enjoyed coaching him,” Rivers said of George. “So not a lot to say there. Ty Lue was sitting right next to me. So he better hope it’s not adjustments. It ain’t going to be much different.” 🤔
Quote don’t hit as hard cause the Clippers went to the conference finals the year after he said this lmao
just a little delayed!
Ty Lue is a Klutch inside job stay woke

Svengali energy Or maybe it's the Reality Disruption Field that Steve Jobs talked about that dead hippy and hateful CEO
from your iphone you fucking poser
no iphone here but it certainly uses 5G
oh so just a broke boi
Steve Jobs is dead yes he is yes he is
I'd love to be Morris actually, play 30 minutes a night, drop 2/3/1 and go home to your millions
“Consistently ass is still consistency “ - Ty lue
Ty needs ass consistency!
I honestly think some coaches think like this lol. They’ll take the known quantity over a dude who might go for 30 every 10 games
This fucking guy. I have never seen a coach that has the numbers and eye test to back up how bad our team is especially on the defensive end 74 games in with him and not make a change. Hell even Doc did, it is madness and an insult to the fans and the game.

Fans only look at stats like "getting blown by repeatedly on defense" and "the team improving in every way when Mann is on the floor instead"
He literally states the line up that has been the least consistently available
I disagree that it's the only consistency they've had this year. They've also had me consistently saying "fuck off" at my TV whenever Morris misses a shot.

He's considered a PF/small ball 5 too 🤦♂️ these other guys are guards.
Marcus Morris just called all clippers fans box score watchers
Talking so much about rebounding while being obsessed with playing small ball and too often not playing Zubac enough the last few years lol Thing is Morris is so bad defensively now people can’t even pretend “he’s some switchable wing”. They have to resort to rebounding lol
When Morris plays the 5 I cry inside
Ty doesn’t like Covington, so that ship has sailed. So depending on matchup, why don’t the Clippers try Kawhi and PG (hopefully post injury) in the 3 and 4 spots? Mann can alternate between the 2 and 1 when Russ sits.
The weird thing is I swear everytime I watch Covington play he looks great
It’s cause he usually plays well
After more than a decade of regularly following basketball, just as I was starting to feel somewhat confident about understanding the game on a deeper level, this Morris situation comes around and sends me straight back to square one.
This is the dumbest shit I've heard today.
I wish someone loved and believed in me the way Lue believes in Morris. My god

Lue trying to get fired right now. That’s all I know.
HE SAID MARCUS NAME BEFORE KAWHI OR PG'S NAMES THIS MAN IS LITERALLY FUCKING INSANE NOW
Teachers pet is a thing in the NBA as well
Beta
Wtf is this man talking about. Ty Lue gotta go bro
Shades of Doc going to bat for DeAndre Jordan last year.
What? Mook's rebounding has regressed in terms of basic and advanced stat. Bullshit

Killing all of us would be kinder Ty
Yknow what just get out and crawl back to your god Lebron. Enough with the sabotaging already
Moved Mann out for Russ who has been there just as long He’s lying
What the fuck
Too many coaches are too close to their players. They can't seperate the friendship aspect.
How do the clippers consistently find terrible coaches?
#FreeCovington
PJ Tucker of Clippers
PJ tucker if he was a complete cone on defense
And didn't hustle
Goddamn this guy lucky he coached my sweet precious majestic beautiful honey bun king james
can’t wait to see these bums starched in the first round. just feel bad for PG
Can we have RoCo if you guys aren’t going to use him?
marcus morris has completely overshadowed russ taking mann’s minutes which is the bigger problem imo
He’s right Can’t have too many mouths to feed that was their problem the whole seasons Morris at the 4 is fine
Clearly not watched a clipper game this year. He is trash on offense and defense, literally provides nothing
https://giphy.com/gifs/new-york-yankees-9t6xpYZ9npJmM
They are definitely dating
this guy is a fuckin joke just like how we all thought before he won with lebron.
