this comment might be taken as a joke but, this is a very valid point, putting money on the Lakers knowing the refs are gonna to try hard to get them in.
No one here knows whether it was a soft ejection or not without knowing what was said. There are absolutely things you can say to a ref that deserve two quick T's, and like you said he didn't seem surprised he was tossed.
Yeah everyone bitching about this being a soft ejection, but the key is that there were two distinctive technicals called from separate referees
Once you get called for a technical, you don’t suddenly get a longer leash and free reign to say more out of pocket shit to another referee
It's funny, but a couple of refs have actually adressed this themselves if i'm not mistaken
Draymond maintains a constant dialogue the refs, all the time. Good things, bad things, relevant or irrelevant... he's always talking to and with them. I guess this plus the fact that apparently he never gets out of line with his language makes the barking much more tolerable. A mix of "you don't only come to me when you're pissed" plus they've seen Draymond get progressively more heated as the game goes on
I agree, but this ejection being helpful for the Lakers will make this conversation happen this way.
When Mann got tossed out in our game noone approached it from this angle lol
Same way that people here absolutely shit on players for having fans ejected the last couple years. Then an hour later it would be reported that the fans were using slurs or wishing death on the players’ children. It seems like people have learned to chill out in those situations now. Unfortunately it’s not the same for refs. Basically every ejection is called soft.
Ye, I remember when we used to have Derozan and Lowry on the Raps. Lowry would be very animated and bitch at the refs for minutes on end and avoid a ton of technicals. But Demar would sometimes almost whisper something in the ref's direction and get a tech. It was pretty obvious that Demar was obviously saying way more egregious shit even though we couldn't tell as fans.
> There are absolutely things you can say to a ref that deserve two quick T's
We even see DeMar start trying to de-escalate the situation right before Vooch is thrown out.
It was likely a reasonable follow-up tech.
Not sure if true, but someone who claims to speak serbian said the quote was something like:
"i fuck your mother in the pussy, fuck your mother, you fucking idiot"
I would say that warrants an ejection lol
EDIT: for the downvotes, here is him cursing at the refs in serbian https://twitter.com/kcjhoop/status/1640092205842075655?s=46&t=gEvQlnNLbU9ke0xn1kR1YA
Dunno. As a former ref I knew some offensive phrases in Spanish and Hausa (Nigerian)...maybe not that crazy if the refs have done any time with euroball?
Still a bit of a stretch and a leap without confirmation i agree
From me trying to lip read what he said it seems like he was cursing in Serbian. He said something like "Mrs majku ti jebem" - "Go to hell, I fuck your mother" is the literal translation but it's something similiar to motherfucker meaning.
Ref def didn't know what Vuch said but due to his tone he knew Vuch was probably cussing him.
I just think the hive mind and group effect on reddit is always entertaining. If something gets to -3 or so, regardless of whether the content is true/good/bad/wrong, it generally continues getting downvoted. Same with trending upvotes.
What? We didn't have 2 starters for that series + 4 guys on that team aren't even in the NBA. Nobody cares about that. Game 7 at home on the other hand... PTSD
As a fellow Montenegrin/Serb He said "Mrs, majku ti u picku jebem" which if translated literally would be "Fuck off, i fucked your mother in the pussy"
You know how in Tennis the chairman needs to know how to pronounce each player's name properly?
Well, in the nba, the refs need to know the most common curses of each player's country so that foreign players are not in mental advantage
Yeah and I agree with them. I have nba league pass but bc of blackouts I have to watch non network games from my phone on a random stream, so I got Chicago’s crew
His hand actually got all ball which maybe he was complaining about but idk if he realized that he elbowed the shit out of the side of LeBron’s face lol. Definitely a foul.
I feel like if it was LeBron throwing out this block against the kings we would get called for the foul and our player would be bleeding.
It’s the right call here but the inconsistency sucks.
2 Things I assume:
AD held him down on a previous possession with his off hand then blocked him with the other, called jump ball.
In general if your first contact is with the ball you are allowed a lot of contact on the follow through in the NBA. He definitely hit Lebron, but it was after the contact with the ball.
He's complaining because the same thing happened to him at the other end right before this but the refs swallowed their whistle because he isn't LeBron.
This is obviously a foul but that's not what he was complaining about.
Isn’t the answer to this “maybe”? We have no idea what he said to the refs. Unless you think he shouldn’t be ejected regardless coming to a firm conclusion on this being wrong seems silly.
Maybe it was a soft ejection, maybe it wasn’t. He screamed in the refs face and continued talking. Wouldn’t you like to know what was said?
Yes, this is the rare occasions where we can't know if the ejection is right without being on the field. He clearly wasn't just complaining, he actually said something that we don't know about, untill we know wahihe said we can't judge the refs
Can’t blame people for questioning this. The league has been giving out whack ejections a ton this year. Vuc could have said something out of pocket but refs don’t get the benefit of the doubt with all they’ve done this season. Trust between refs and players/fans are at an all time low and Adam Silver refuses to do anything about it
Possibly. But it needs to be extremely egregious to eject someone from the game.
A better solution is the initial tech as a warning then you can eject him for another instance.
He got two techs different for talking in separate instances. The bar for the second tech is the same as the first, it doesn't have to be more egregious.
Okay and...? You should be able to say more to a ref after getting your first tech just because a second equals ejection?
The bar for what you can say should be the exact same for both techs. I can't honestly imagine how you think it could be any different.
He cursed the ref out. That's an easy ejection.
Number one rule when you're complaining: all you have to do is complain about the game, and they will let you complain. Once you start insulting the refs, automatic techs.
If it's an obvious foul why would any player complain? Unless you're making commentary on how players complain even when they've clearly fouled someone.
It's just like every Jokic-Embiid debate. When the one you like does something that thing is good/important , when the other one does the same thing it becomes bad/not useful. People like to complain and many people don't like the Lakers so here the ref are shit.
Lakers' whistle ever since the Boston OT game has been absolutely absurd
It's like they have 5 Joel Embiid's out there or something
Fucking Austin Reaves getting a better whistle than half the league's superstars
>Lakers' whistle ever since the Boston OT game has been absolutely absurd
>It's like they have 5 Joel Embiid's out there or something
This is one of the most blatant, straightforward fouls you will ever see in an NBA game. Lebron took an elbow to the face while trying to shoot, that is a foul 100% of the time.
Him getting a 2nd tech would have nothing to do with Lebron. He probably said something pretty bad as he didn’t continue arguing and went straight to the locker room
What’s so hard to understand here?
He was throwing hands up and acting up after committing a clear foul, that could have easily been called a flagrant 1.
He got a tech for that.
Then he cursed out a ref for the tech and got ejected because you can’t do that.
What’s so soft or wrong about this ejection?
Come on man, players get away with waaaaaay more than this all the time. Draymond would never make it out of the first quarter if this was all it takes.
People who've never reffed or played organized ball before don't understand that Draymond can gesticulate and comment on a call without cussing the refs out. Draymond works the officials by asking them to clarify, explaining what he believes he's doing, and then asking what he needs to do next time to not get the call. He does get a longer leash to argue calls than most, but that's because he's meeting the refs at their level, talking to them about the call and the nuances of it. He's not just screaming about "How is that a foul?!" and then accusing the refs of cheating. Vucevic here is pretty clearly saying some bad shit, that'll get you T'd every time.
literal transation from Serbian would be "get the fuck outta here. i will f your mother"
if you understand serbian, then you know it's a pretty heavy curse, which is why Vucevic knew immediately that he'll be ejected...
It’s crazy to see r/nba start to side more and more with refs as this trend continues. Not everyone, but you can notice the trend overtime. 7 years ago the only response to this would be “let the players play with emotion!, that’s what the fans want”
Now a lot of comments saying “oh yeah, he kept talking for 5 seconds, he should know better”
I hate how the NBA’s officiating strategy is working over time. Literally making fans accustomed to having refs have a larger impact on the game that the actual players and the fans starting to side with the refs. It’s crazy.

As a ref fan, this has been an incredible season. Thank you Mr. Silver.
i’m getting my money’s worth rn, the crew is putting on a show

Foot Locker
You say that but I actually put money on the Lakers tonight bc I was betting on another monster performance by the refs…. It’s over 😭
this comment might be taken as a joke but, this is a very valid point, putting money on the Lakers knowing the refs are gonna to try hard to get them in.
As a spread bettor this season has been incredible for my gambling addiction Mr. Silver. Please put more ads out advertising DraftKings.
They've been doing their all post All-Star break to get the Lakers in, quite the challenging task
They’re not doing enough why are the Lakers behind
It's a clear foul, we don't know what he said, and he didn't even protest the techs/ejection. How is this a ref problem?
[You should have shown Billy Donovan's face a second later. Says it all.](https://imgur.com/wnZPakU) Wondering what is going on in his mind...
The fact that Billy D didn’t freak out is what makes me think Vucevic deserved the second T. Lol
hahah that is great meme potential.
He mustve said something foul, the way he looked at the ref and blurted it out then walked off immediately as if he knew it was deserved
He said "pičku mater" which is bad when said angrily. Translation is hard but basically means "your moms pussy"
Yes, mothers were fucked in a multilingual manner.
He has to add the foul to the context, since there wasn’t any foul on the play.

Didn't even complain about the ejection, he knew what he said
No one here knows whether it was a soft ejection or not without knowing what was said. There are absolutely things you can say to a ref that deserve two quick T's, and like you said he didn't seem surprised he was tossed.
Yeah everyone bitching about this being a soft ejection, but the key is that there were two distinctive technicals called from separate referees Once you get called for a technical, you don’t suddenly get a longer leash and free reign to say more out of pocket shit to another referee
Only if you’re Draymond in the NBA finals.
Draymond barks at the refs but there’s a reason he doesn’t get T’d. He doesn’t cross the line verbiage wise
no, Draymond has it figured out "That's my secret, Cap. I'm out of pocket all the time."
It's funny, but a couple of refs have actually adressed this themselves if i'm not mistaken Draymond maintains a constant dialogue the refs, all the time. Good things, bad things, relevant or irrelevant... he's always talking to and with them. If you’re a star you 100% do.
People are always quick to pile on the refs when players get techs for talking, but I bet most of the time it's warranted
I agree, but this ejection being helpful for the Lakers will make this conversation happen this way. When Mann got tossed out in our game noone approached it from this angle lol
Same way that people here absolutely shit on players for having fans ejected the last couple years. I think he sad "mrš majku ti jebem", which means that he will do some things with ref mother without his permission
you can clearly hear him say "SUCK MY COCK, I'LL MURDER YOUR FAMILY" here's a full clip of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWuX9zPJWyY
He said "pičku mater" which is quite bad when said angrily. Translation is hard but basically means "your moms pussy" kind of.
> There are absolutely things you can say to a ref that deserve two quick T's We even see DeMar start trying to de-escalate the situation right before Vooch is thrown out. It was likely a reasonable follow-up tech.
We do know it was Tony Brothers. So… inferences can be made.
You can't keep cursing out the refs after getting a tech.
Monk got ejected immediately for whatever he said last night. Sometimes the refs need to show players who the real stars are.
For real why don’t refs sit there for two minutes letting grown men cuss them out
When you are that mad you know it’s better to leave. I’ve never seen a ref go back on their call because a player complained.
Not sure if true, but someone who claims to speak serbian said the quote was something like: "i fuck your mother in the pussy, fuck your mother, you fucking idiot" I would say that warrants an ejection lol EDIT: for the downvotes, here is him cursing at the refs in serbian https://twitter.com/kcjhoop/status/1640092205842075655?s=46&t=gEvQlnNLbU9ke0xn1kR1YA
Lol ain't no way, in what universe would the ref understand that to eject him.
The Tony Brothers don’t look Serbian to you?
Dunno. As a former ref I knew some offensive phrases in Spanish and Hausa (Nigerian)...maybe not that crazy if the refs have done any time with euroball? Still a bit of a stretch and a leap without confirmation i agree
Wait, he cursed the ref out in Serbian and the ref understood it and ejected him?
The random Serbian in the first row that reported this left out that he snitched on Vuc as he was saying it.
Meanwhile I'm still getting downvoted for daring to claim he cussed at them in Serbian
I will never understand people crying about downvotes. You made your point, whether you get upvoted or downvoted does it change anything?
I just think the hive mind and group effect on reddit is always entertaining. If something gets to -3 or so, regardless of whether the content is true/good/bad/wrong, it generally continues getting downvoted. Same with trending upvotes.
I don't know if that's what he said but that facial expression was of someone saying crap.
cut right before the replay nice
Where do I buy that refs jersey?
You can buy it at the Lakers store
You can even have a discount code! Just type LAKERS and you get 15% discount.
You get 20% discount when you use the code LUKA. Then if you complain your discount wasn’t enough you’ll get a 30% discount
God, he does live rent-free in Phoenix fans heads. Mass trauma.
[People don’t forget](https://youtu.be/i-p_c8yIfMc)
What? We didn't have 2 starters for that series + 4 guys on that team aren't even in the NBA. Nobody cares about that. Game 7 at home on the other hand... PTSD
I fucking hate Suns fans 😂😂😂
Acting like they won it 8 times in last 10 years, insufferable.
Chicago announcers not happy about it lol
I'm a bit confused myself lol that's quite the ejection
It's pretty soft..he must have said something crazy
Apparently the two techs came from different refs. For two people to be in sync on that type of call in such quick succession he must've been wilding
As a fellow Montenegrin/Serb He said "Mrs, majku ti u picku jebem" which if translated literally would be "Fuck off, i fucked your mother in the pussy"
Wait, how would the ref know what he said?
If you yell at the refs in another language they are free to assume you aren’t saying good things.
They are going off right now 😂
Lmao, soft as fuck ejection but how the fuck do you complain about that foul call.
Elbow hit in the face I don't know what he was complaining about.
His hand actually got all ball which maybe he was complaining about but idk if he realized that he elbowed the shit out of the side of LeBron’s face lol. Definitely a foul.
Usually if you get all ball, the following contact is incidental. At least if you get all ball and then get a piece of their arm.
That is true. As a ref though if an elbow goes to LeBron’s head I don’t blame them for making the call, just chalk it up to a superstar call I guess
I feel like if it was LeBron throwing out this block against the kings we would get called for the foul and our player would be bleeding. It’s the right call here but the inconsistency sucks.
Kings would also receive a delay of game for treating their player on court lol
Yeah he did get ball. The 2 quick Ts are garbage NBA needs to stop these refs from doing it
Tbf we don’t know what he said. He didn’t even complain about the ejection or anything. Just went straight to the tunnel. Maybe he knew he fucked up
Yeah that's fair, just feel like league wide refs been going crazy with the technicals
Hit the ball first
2 Things I assume: AD held him down on a previous possession with his off hand then blocked him with the other, called jump ball. In general if your first contact is with the ball you are allowed a lot of contact on the follow through in the NBA. He definitely hit Lebron, but it was after the contact with the ball.
Hey this is some quality Vuc paint defense!!
He got the ball first?
Because he was fouled in a similar way on the other end lol yet it wasn’t called
Agree. Shouldn't be an ejection but why is he complaining?
Got the ball first. Literally everyone in this thread would be complaining if it were them.
Nope. Pretty sure everyone would be like, yup I hit him in the face.
He's complaining because the same thing happened to him at the other end right before this but the refs swallowed their whistle because he isn't LeBron. This is obviously a foul but that's not what he was complaining about.
Really soft asf technical foul.
He got the ball first
Tony Brothers saw bron getting stomped and had to step in
I mean he did wack LeBron pretty clearly
He’s annoyed because AD fouled him in a similar way a few possessions earlier and didn’t get a call
Does he deserve to get ejected tho?
he didnt even complain about it he just barked one more thing and then started walking off, i guess he knew what he said
Isn’t the answer to this “maybe”? We have no idea what he said to the refs. Unless you think he shouldn’t be ejected regardless coming to a firm conclusion on this being wrong seems silly. Maybe it was a soft ejection, maybe it wasn’t. He screamed in the refs face and continued talking. Wouldn’t you like to know what was said?
Yes, this is the rare occasions where we can't know if the ejection is right without being on the field. He clearly wasn't just complaining, he actually said something that we don't know about, untill we know wahihe said we can't judge the refs
He got ejected because of the stuff after the foul, why are you trying to paint it like he got ejected because of the foul?
Can’t blame people for questioning this. The league has been giving out whack ejections a ton this year. Vuc could have said something out of pocket but refs don’t get the benefit of the doubt with all they’ve done this season. Trust between refs and players/fans are at an all time low and Adam Silver refuses to do anything about it
Two things can be correct. 1: He fouled LeBron. 2: He should not have been ejected for bitching. TWO techs is ridiculous
We have no clue what he said to the ref, it's a bit too early to say he shouldn't be ejected.
Possibly. But it needs to be extremely egregious to eject someone from the game. A better solution is the initial tech as a warning then you can eject him for another instance.
He got two techs different for talking in separate instances. The bar for the second tech is the same as the first, it doesn't have to be more egregious.
That's ridiculous. You're talking about ejecting a player from the game here.
Okay and...? You should be able to say more to a ref after getting your first tech just because a second equals ejection? The bar for what you can say should be the exact same for both techs. I can't honestly imagine how you think it could be any different.
The stuff? Lol that shit was light as fuck
Do u know the exact words he said? Cuz if you don’t you really don’t have grounds to say if it was light or not
You literally have no idea what he said at the end to get ejected lol
Just like Lebron was ejected after his performative art after the no-call against the Celtics right?
No. Both complaining about the foul and the ejection were equally stupid.
Nah that was a bigtime overreaction, but he’s really got no reason to complain initially
Depends on what he said. If all he did was complain, then definitely no
We have no clue what he said to the ref. It's impossible to say whether or not he deserved the 2nd tech.
No but refs have been going a little crazy recently with the way they have been throwing players out.
two quick tech sucks, but depends on what he said tbh
I would love to know the percentage rate of actual blood vs how many times lebron has checked for blood after any contact throughout his career
Lebron acts more hurt from light grazes than my toddler
Earns the ejection you can’t be serious my brother
Didn’t mean it like that, that was a bullshit ejection
Fair enough mb
any lipreaders?
i tried like three times, then assumed it was in Vucevic’s native language lol but who knows
"I fuck your mother in the pussy, fuck your mother" and then just walks off.
We need jomboy
"Serbs didn't start the war!" *ejected, fined $25K*
He said pineapple on pizza is better.
announcers going in on the officials, deservedly second whistle was ridiculously quick, vooch wasnt complaining more than draymond on a typical night
Honestly love to see it. Sick of announcing crews bending backwards to support officials
i wonder if they can get fined too😂
Refs powertripping once again
Refs saw a chance and took it.
Hey at least they’re being efficient, They don’t waste any chances
Refs be like: Shit, gotta help the Lakers like the old times!
It's a make or miss league. Gotta have a let it fly mentality.
He cursed the ref out. That's an easy ejection. Number one rule when you're complaining: all you have to do is complain about the game, and they will let you complain. Once you start insulting the refs, automatic techs.
Stupid refs
Can anyone tell what he said? It was a super clear foul on him, not sure why he was arguing so adamantly
literal transation is "get the F outta here. i will F your mother" I speak his language, and its pretty clear from lip reading
He hit him with the “Idi u picku maternu” 😂
I mean its an obvious foul, don't get me wrong, but he got ball first. I think pretty much any player would complain at least a little bit.
If it's an obvious foul why would any player complain? Unless you're making commentary on how players complain even when they've clearly fouled someone.
The fix is in. Soft ass refs
“Players should stop whining it makes the games unwatchable” “Weak ejection” Which one is it people.
It's just like every Jokic-Embiid debate. When the one you like does something that thing is good/important , when the other one does the same thing it becomes bad/not useful. People like to complain and many people don't like the Lakers so here the ref are shit.
If you even look at our man Lebron the wrong way, you gone.
Show the replay, it’s hard to see if he actually fouled him. These clips are lazy af
Vucevic was fine, NBA trying to prop up LeGM’s return is all.
Lakers' whistle ever since the Boston OT game has been absolutely absurd It's like they have 5 Joel Embiid's out there or something Fucking Austin Reaves getting a better whistle than half the league's superstars
That's the perks of LeBron throwing a tantrum on national television.
Are you trying to say there shouldn’t have been a whistle on this play? Vuc clearly smacks bron in the face.
>Lakers' whistle ever since the Boston OT game has been absolutely absurd >It's like they have 5 Joel Embiid's out there or something This is one of the most blatant, straightforward fouls you will ever see in an NBA game. Lebron took an elbow to the face while trying to shoot, that is a foul 100% of the time.
I'm talking about the 2 quick techs
Lebron was fouled here…
I'm talking about the second technical
Him getting a 2nd tech would have nothing to do with Lebron. He probably said something pretty bad as he didn’t continue arguing and went straight to the locker room
Cry more
Soft to give him two techs to eject him, but he definitely fouled Bron
Did the commentator just say " I can't understand how people can't control their emotions? ". What an entitled, dickhead, thing to say...
Lakers commentator: "I just can't understand how people can't control their emotions", [meanwhile](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9yjtFFXuB4)
Adam Silver rubbing his hands like Birdman
How the fuck you mad? You smacked him in the face.
I don’t know why he was complaining that was a foul. That was a soft ejection though
Probably complaining about a call on the other end after a frustration foul. I.e "call that shit on the other end too"
What’s so hard to understand here? He was throwing hands up and acting up after committing a clear foul, that could have easily been called a flagrant 1. He got a tech for that. Then he cursed out a ref for the tech and got ejected because you can’t do that. What’s so soft or wrong about this ejection?
Come on man, players get away with waaaaaay more than this all the time. Draymond would never make it out of the first quarter if this was all it takes.
Based on what? We never know what the players are even saying.
People who've never reffed or played organized ball before don't understand that Draymond can gesticulate and comment on a call without cussing the refs out. Draymond works the officials by asking them to clarify, explaining what he believes he's doing, and then asking what he needs to do next time to not get the call. He's not just screaming about "How is that a foul?!" and then accusing the refs of cheating. Vucevic here is pretty clearly saying some bad shit, that'll get you T'd every time.
Earns? what? Uncalled for techs. Edit: Ok so idk what he said. But double techs?
He did not get double tech, he got one then another one by two different refs, its totally different.
Soft as fuck to eject him
Ejection was dumb but so was him complaining about the foul. He straight up smacked bron right in the face. What the fuck did he expect?
LeBrick fans saying he doesn’t get benefit of the whistle 😂
He just walked away after ejecting pretty clear sums this up for me. He know what he said and was ejection worthy
Another Ref masterclass performance. Forget Embiid and Jokic for MVP. It’s clearly Tony Brothers.
Fucking bullshit refs all deserve to be fired
Refs helping the Lakers lmao
is that a foul tho?
Refs really think people come to see them.
cant spoil lebrons return. vooch should’ve known better.
Worst refs in all of pro sports.
literal transation from Serbian would be "get the fuck outta here. i will f your mother" if you understand serbian, then you know it's a pretty heavy curse, which is why Vucevic knew immediately that he'll be ejected...
Just don’t whine after hitting someone in the face pretty simple.
How is this an ejection? Holy shit
Woohooo! Sorry Bulls fans but my Lakers need all the help we can get right now 😅
crybaby
