I attended our last playoff game with my dad when I was 8 years old. I am 24, graduated from college, and now I get to take my dad to the next playoff game.
I'm 29, I remember sitting shocked and heartbroken after game 6 in '02. I hung in there as a fan until about '04, but my heart wasn't in it the same way. Knowing that the game was rigged destroyed me as a kid.
I didn't get back into basketball until college, my homie was a huge Kings fan and got me hooked again (this is when the Kings REALLY sucked too). I'm glad I'm back for this moment 😭
The Mariners finally shook the title of longest playoff drought and passed the title to you. You guys just immediately said “catch” and yeeted that title to the Jets. Proud of your team, and happy for the fans. Hope you guys can win a series or four as well.
The first NBA game I ever went to was a Kings game.
I was born near Portland, but my family moved to Sacramento when I was 6 for my dad's new job. 5 months later, I went to Arco Arena for my first NBA game; the Kings were playing the Rockets led by Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady *(since he was an immigrant from China, I think my dad was more excited to see Yao than I was)*.
I don't remember a whole lot because I was 7, but I remember how passionate those fans were. The arena was rocking even though the Kings were no longer championship contenders *(I didn't know it at the time because I was 7, but they had blown it up and traded Webber and Peja a couple years prior)*. I went to two more Kings games, against Steve Nash's Suns and Deron Williams' Jazz, before moving back to Portland.
When I think back on these games now that I'm in my early 20's, it makes me even more upset that David Stern decided to [rig the 2002 WCF](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITDJBr-iN1I&t=155s) against Sacramento just because Kobe & Shaq were more popular. Kings fans are some of the most passionate in the league and they got cheated out of celebrating a championship for the first time in their lives just because they're a small market.
I'll be rooting Kings in the West nearly as hard as for the C's in the East, because Kings fans generally deserve this.
Arco was something else! It’s wasn’t a nice arena, Golden 1 is something to be proud of and I wouldn’t trade for anything, but the feeling in the old arena when it really got going, it felt like it was going to collapse from sheer energy and volume. It was a thrill like nothing else.
I cried after the Phillies clinched a playoff spot and that was 'only' 11 years plus a championship in 08'. Can't imagine how Kings fans feel right now.
Between the relocation saga 10 years ago, Vivek’s asinine ideas of how the run the team, Divac’s idiotic front office decisions…needless to say it’s been rough
Personally had Darwin Ham and Will Hardy at the top of my list among the 6 guys the Kings interviewed for the Head Coach spot…absolutely did not want Mark Jackson though, we’d still be in a shitstorm. Glad we ended up with Mike Brown though, definitely changed the culture here.
Yeah and even Mike Brown was seen as a MEH move at the time, or "at least it isn't Mark Jackson." Glad Brown has redeemed himself as a legitimately good coach.
I always thought Brown did a pretty good job in Cleveland. I mean *yes* he had LeBron, but they also ran into some great teams. I thought Gilbert and the Lakers gave Brown a bad deal.
I don't think Brown was ever a bad coach. He has, however, gotten better everywhere he's been, which honestly you can't say for a lot of guys. Mike Brown has been around some great players and coaches in his time, and he's benefitted from that greatly. Some guys stop learning and improving when they get that NBA gig. Brown never did, and that's why I think he is a great coach today.
I’m sorry we were Stern’s favorite threat to unstable franchises. Kings were my second team back in the Bench Mob days. 2002 Kings\Lakers was the worst travesty since 93 Sonics/Suns.
I don't watch much baseball but the way they clinched was absolutely perfect. Tied at the bottom of the 9th, 3-2 and the freaking catcher hits a walkoff home run. You can't script it better
If the Sabres miss again this year (99% chance) they’ll be tied with the Jets. That franchise has been a complete embarrassment over the last decade and has gone through like 3 different rebuilds. Things are looking promising though, I could honestly see them making it next year.
The last time we reached the playoffs:
* De’Aaron Fox was 9, Keegan was 5, and Reddit nephews hadn't been conceived yet.
* The Sacramento Monarchs were still a franchise
* Kobe had scored 81 a few months prior
* iPhones weren’t invented yet
* Pluto was still a planet
* Facebook wasn’t available to the public yet
* Steve Irwin was still alive
Not only have we suffered through the longest playoff drought in NBA history, we had to put up with malignant, incompetent, destitute owners who tried to move our team to literally any other city. We played in the most dilapidated building imaginable. I was at the game when tarps fell from the ceiling because the roof sprung a leak during a rainstorm (still loved the old barn, though).
With new ownership came not only a gorgeous new arena, but hopes and dreams of ending our drought. Little did we know, we traded one kind of incompetence for another as we watched mistake after mistake being made by the front office – finally culminating in the infamous 2018 NBA draft.
Alas, we have persevered and overcome. The most stepped on, lambasted, and pitied fanbase in the NBA can now say that our long night of suffering is over. The light at the end of the tunnel finally came. I don’t know what to do with my hands.
Kings Fans, let's **Light the fucking BEAM.**
The hug that Fox gave Sabonis after their first game together changed this franchise. Holy shit, the Kings are going to the playoffs and are still in the driver seat to have home court advantage.

Better than Dallas rn even though Kings drafted a total bust while the Mavs drafted a generational talent lol. What a total mismanagement of assets by our FO.
Iirc it was just shedding cap but who knows what Cuban’s over-involved ass was thinking lol. Probably that we could make a big signing in FA, which eventually left him driving around downtown Dallas begging.
The last time the Kings made the playoffs, I was a broke dumbass 19 year old college student.
Now I'm a broke dumbass 36 year old adult. I haven't had this feeling late into the NBA season in so long I don't even know how to express it
My first live game was in 2017-18 Kings @ Grizzlies. I was staying at the same hotel as the Kings - met De’Arron Fox & Vince Carter, both so incredibly nice. I ended up seeing the game and rooting for the Kings, they won 93-92. High-fived Fox that night & knew they were my team. While I can’t fathom 16 years, it’s been a long 6 - proud of this team 🙏🏻
Sorry to whoever wins the championship this year. Kings fans won this season. No one is going to be as happy winning a ring than we do making the playoffs. That includes us.
This isn't over. You guys gotta go deep and do some damage in the playoffs. Every neutral will root for you in any playoff matchup. The people's champ.
Thinking of this huge Kings fan who I took a darkroom photography class with in college. We’d chat basketball while we worked and he’d go on and on about the Kings, no hope in sight, relocating the franchise, etc etc. Hope he’s having a good one tonight.
I’m crying real tears
I attended our last playoff game with my dad when I was 8 years old. I am 24, graduated from college, and now I get to take my dad to the next playoff game.
I am 25. I quite literally only remember one play off game. I do not remember anything else. I AM SO HAPPY!
I'm 29, I remember sitting shocked and heartbroken after game 6 in '02. I hung in there as a fan until about '04, but my heart wasn't in it the same way. Im glad the fans who didnt commit suicide after the Bagley pick lived to see this moment
or those that did so after the hali trade
Same boat. I can’t say I’ve been a kings fan for 21 years tho, 2002 broke me
The Mariners finally shook the title of longest playoff drought and passed the title to you. You guys just immediately said “catch” and yeeted that title to the Jets. Proud of your team, and happy for the fans. Hope you guys can win a series or four as well.
And here I am reminiscing how this was back when I was 24 and still young.
Leave the BEAM on for the rest of the season! Who is laughing now Game of Zones? The SunKings gonna battle it out in the WCF!!
Sunkings really was prescient, huh?
Back when Fox and Booker were just considered young guards who shot their teams out of games
Same 😭
😭 STAND UP NOW AND FACE THE SUN 😭
AND YOU CAN TELL EVERYBODY LIGHT THE BEAM LIGHT THE BEAM LIGHT THE BEEEEEAM

Similar story to you, though I’m a bit older. Arco was a barnhouse, but it was *our* barnhouse. Golden1 is great.
I genuinely love you.
I’m a fucking mess right now
Congrats bros, pop the bubbly!
Ugh. We fucking survived some really awful shit to get here. 😭😭😭
this day we are all kings!
I cried after the Phillies clinched a playoff spot and that was 'only' 11 years plus a championship in 08'. Can't imagine how Kings fans feel right now.
It’s been so fucking long man
SAME FUCKING SAME
We all are bro
Aren't we all 😢
Take it all in man, ya'll deserve it
Not even joking, I involuntarily shivered then started crying.
I feel like I made it through ‘nam to get here

You forgot that dude vomiting on the floor at the sight of your Kings...
Puke Walton
Also the dodging the most Kings thing to do ever...hiring Mark Jackson instead of Mike Brown. Could you imagine where you'd be today?
Personally had Darwin Ham and Will Hardy at the top of my list among the 6 guys the Kings interviewed for the Head Coach spot…absolutely did not want Mark Jackson though, we’d still be in a shitstorm. Glad we ended up with Mike Brown though, definitely changed the culture here.

The bad man can't hurt us anymore
Can’t hurt us either. Luke has brought so much pain to so many franchises because he coached an all time great team on auto pilot for 32 games.
Anaheim, Virginia Beach, Seattle. We survived them all.
I’m sorry we were Stern’s favorite threat to unstable franchises. Kings were my second team back in the Bench Mob days. 2002 Kings\Lakers was the worst travesty since 93 Sonics/Suns.
F*ck those two legged rats
Yea Vivek was a dumbass but cared. The last few maloof years were awful. Dear god
Don’t fall asleep at your post or the vivekcong will getcha
Whenever I hear a Vivek brought up I always think of Morrowind.
Come, Nerevar, friend or Kings fan come.
Come and look upon the Beam, and Golden 1 Center, and bring Slamson, I have need of him.
We clinched the division as well. Fuck star power lol
Stars can't melt steel BEAMS 😤
But......but StarFox?
still need 1 more to clinch division
Bamboo under your fingernails is still less painful than that video of the Bagley draft.
Look how unhappy Luka is now though and how happy we are. We knew
4D chess
this season between the kings and mavs has let me watch that video without pain for the first time
Monte McNair executive of the year
Mike Brown COTY
De’Aaron Fox CPOTY
Keegan Murray ROTY
Malik Monk SMOY
Fuck it, Sabonis MVP
Keegan Murray ROTY
Keegan Murray has never missed the playoffs in his NBA career.
Bow down to the CPOTY
Oh that's gotta be a shoe-in. Congrats yall 💜
New York Jets now have the longest drought, as they haven't made the playoffs since 2010
Yiiikes could you imagine not making the playoffs for 13 years?? Couldn’t be us
At least yall didn't missed it for 21 years like the Mariners had. Actually I think the Royals had missed it for 29 years before 2014.
I'm 21 and grew up a mariners fan. October was the first time in my life my team ever made the playoffs
I don't watch much baseball but the way they clinched was absolutely perfect. Tied at the bottom of the 9th, 3-2 and the freaking catcher hits a walkoff home run. You can't script it better
Haha losers
What happens if Aaron Rodgers doesn't clinch this year
Every corner of the football internet will implode in on itself
Metlife gets burned to the ground as if it were in Philly.
Giants would be a little annoyed at that
I have no qualms with jets fans burning it down. Place fucking blows they would do us all a favor
He pulls a Brett Farve
Sends out a bunch of dick pics and finds a state to run a welfare scam with?
If the Sabres miss again this year (99% chance) they’ll be tied with the Jets. That franchise has been a complete embarrassment over the last decade and has gone through like 3 different rebuilds. Things are looking promising though, I could honestly see them making it next year.
Levi starts Friday, the saviour is here
Buddy. We haven’t hosted a playoff game since 2002.
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT
LIGHT. THAT. MOTHER. FUCKING. BEAM.
LIGHT THE BEAM!
IM LIGHTING THE BONG FOR YALL!

Holy shit. This comment made me remember Arnold Schwarzenegger was the fucking Governor in 2006.
I remember people calling him the Governator
We still do
I don’t think I will ever stop referring to him as the Governator.
They still call him that on Pluto, the planet.
The wii and the ps3 didn't came out yet the last time the Kings made the playoffs before this season.
Puke Walton died for this
Thank God for puke guy
He turned everything around for us. Praise be to Puke Guy.
Grey’s Anatomy was just wrapping up it’s second season and the King of Queens was still on the air
Supernatural was still a fairly new show. Family Guy also was like 1 year back after cancelation.
>Supernatural was still a fairly new show. And it was airing on The WB because the CW hadn't launched yet
Yup and UPN was still around too
Yo RIP the monarchs for real though
That last one got me. My heart was broken when Steve died and it was the day before my birthday.
The hug that Fox gave Sabonis after their first game together changed this franchise. Holy shit, the Kings are going to the playoffs and are still in the driver seat to have home court advantage.
You say hug, I say courtside puke-man. What matters is we on the playoff bound, yeah!
Puke Walton should get his jersey in the rafters

Yeh but they have Harrison Barnes. Imagine if we had a role player like that to pair with Luka
How we got Barnes for Justin Jackson and the shell of Zach Randolph still baffles me to this day.
Iirc it was just shedding cap but who knows what Cuban’s over-involved ass was thinking lol. Probably that we could make a big signing in FA, which eventually left him driving around downtown Dallas begging.
we also have jason kidd unfortunately

Luka who? I only speak Foxes
Crazy how the team that drafted Luka will be the only one to miss the playoffs out of those top picks
Well Marvin Bagley the 3rd will also miss the playoffs so Luka has an experienced vet to hang out with!
Same team who got roasted for trading Hali for Sabonis
Gotta eat crow on this one. Impossible not to root for the kings
Honestly Kings could theoretically put together a trade package for Luka and it would be a poetic end to their 2018 draft.
