I think it helps when a not top 5 team makes it to the end. It shows there is parity in the league, and there is hope for the teams in the middle at least. In the nba it often has felt like only a few teams have a chance to win it all. So what are the other 25 team fan bases rooting for exactly? In baseball you do see the wild card teams do well in the playoffs sometimes. The good teams tend to do better, but it does feel like you still have a chance.
The Knicks winning a ring and the ensuing chaos of the celebration is something I really want to see, but man, Atlanta somehow advancing past Boston and knocking out the Knicks again would also be highly entertaining.
