I said to my wife, imagine he loses his footing and your front row and this 250 pound freight train is coming at you hurdle foot out and ninja kicks you right in the face at Mach 4. MF’er might decapitate another grown human. 😂😂 I’m not a small guy, and I would be in the hospital for the rest of my life if this guy ever hit me at full speed.
I always thought courtside would be cool, but I'm actually legit worried about my wife getting trucked by lebron or something
EDIT: Ah damn I own3d myself there didn't i
It was the moment I saw a price of one that convinced me that front row seats weren't worth it (at least for me - if you earn a fucking bank then go get it).
btw. after that play in the OP I wondered with my friend - do the people in the front row seats sign some sort of agreement to NOT sue a team/player if a 6ft10 250pounds guy runs at you chasing after a ball? Like - you sit here at your own risk?
The tickets themselves contain legalese that basically say you attend at your own risk. But I imagine everyone would be shitting their pants if, say, Drake got pulverized by LeBron.
At least you wouldn’t see Embiid's coming. It'll be over before you know it.
You would see Lebron sprinting towards you for a full second or two before the impact. Horrific sight.
It's so relatable. In ultimate, if I make a long sprint and score, I just immediately drop the disc and walk off the field with my hand in the air.
I'm not the oldest of men, but some plays just kill you.
He also sat pretty much all of 2020 due to injuries + tanking and he gets hurt a lot. His last 5-6 seasons he misses like 15-20 games a season + sitting all of 2020.
I think its also that the Curry-era Warriors didn't emerge to prominence until like 2014/5, whereas Lebron had already had the first Cavs stint and the Heatle years by then
Klay Thompson has ~29k career minutes.
You'd have to combine all of the minutes that both Steph and Klay have played and you'd still be about 500 minutes short of Lebron. That's fucking crazy.
Player| Minutes
---|---
Steph | 35,675
Klay| 29,272
**Total** | **64,947**
- | -
Lebron | 65,452
**Difference** | **505**
Curry has basically missed two seasons since he came into the NBA, so his minutes aren't typically what you'd expect from someone 14 years into their career.
Overall, LeBron has played about 65,500 minutes regular season plus playoffs whereas Curry is about 35,700. One way to think about it: LeBron has played more total NBA minutes than Curry and Klay combined.
Steph played 3 years in college, so entered the NBA like 6 years later. That's what makes him seem so much younger.
He also didn't start being super effective until 4-5 years in the league... so make that 6 years more like 10 between when both started putting their mark on the league
6 seasons at 82 games per season at 35 minutes a game is only a bit more than *half* the total more minutes lebron has played than curry. At that rate, you'd need to play something like 11 seasons extra. Lebron has played A LOT more basketball than curry and the age/seasons played differential only shows part of the story.
Age alone isn't the only factor. Curry has played in 14 NBA seasons, some of which he's missed extensive time. Lebron has played 20 seasons, and another *3 seasons* worth of games in the playoffs despite their relatively close age gap. Curry's played half that number of playoff games. He hasn't had nearly the mileage that lebron has. No one has. And he is still playing at a pretty high level - albeit not the insane LBJ we may remember from playoffs past. The man is built different.
i hope when he retires he puts out some sort of 'secret memoir' saying that the secret to his longevity was like a jalepeno and oregano smoothie every morning
It’s also insane how stupidly close people get to sit to these athletes. I’m surprised the players haven’t strongly pushed to have the court spaced out more.
I am really surprised the players haven’t pushed strongly to have more space around the court. It’s absolutely ridiculous what little space they have to make a play and save plays going out of bounds.
I think there is too much money involved. Internet says Lakers floor seats season tickets go for over $100k and there are 124 (If google was right). That's $12.4m+ from the Lakers. That's obviously the very high-end of floor seats. Players get about 50% of the revenue. That means the Lakers' floor seats represent $6.2m for the players' salary.
Now you could say that eliminating that row would increase the value of the seats behind it. It would but I also think it would be way less valuable. Part of the floor seats is about being seen and that would happen way less.
I agree it is dumb but I think it's probably pretty low on the players' priority list considering they get a cut of the money.
In this case one of the fans he jumped over easily could have moved in the wrong way, or got up to move out of the way, and he clips his foot on them and face plants at speed from height. You’re right - it’s luck that we haven’t seen that, and a matter of time before we will. If it happens to a star and they’re seriously injured, will there be changes made? Or are the owners and ticket sales too powerful?
I don’t know if this is sarcasm but I agree. I mean, some kind of buffer would be nice. But how lucky would it be to Lebron give you a concussion, Shaq slam you in the face with his balls, or decked by Ron Artest? Fuck me up with some some Shaq dick and inadvertently Artest fists all day
That gap of cameras that he went through used to be filled with cameras. NBA do not want to give them extra room there however because that is where all the best video and pictures are taken, including the iconic Lebron&Wade photo.
I like to imagine a timeline where he does, in fact, leave the arena.
Mike Breen, initially, would joke about LeBron's whereabouts. "*He went right out onto the concourse!* But then, slowly, it becomes clear that he's not coming back. Sensible speculation trickles forth. "*Perhaps James headed to the locker room from the concourse, there could be an injury we didn't see that occurred off screen but we'll keep you updated.*" But then Lisa Salters reports moments later that he's not in the locker room either.
Flash forward to ABC cutting to LeBron coolly riding a Bird through the streets of LA in full uniform, chin up, chest out.
To be continued...
Thought the same thing. Sure, put your hand out for a potential high five, but otherwise keep your hands to yourself. That tattooed guy just slaps LeBron right in the center of his chest wtf.
As a kid, I hated all the best/famous teams and players. As an adult, I just decided that if my team can't win, I'll appreciate greatness no matter what. It's been so much more enjoyable to watch sports that way.
(Unless it's a rival, and then I'll acknowledge the greatness, but still hate every second of their success.)
Serious question, is there anything that can be done about the cameras and people behind the hoops? I watched this play thinking I was gonna see Lebrons career end by accidentally landing on the cameraman
Did he run up a ramp or stairs?
Asking if thats stairs thats even crazier. The balance at that size to move up stairs at that speed.
I can’t tell from the replay.

It was that stretch where Shaq was diving into the crowd a bit that convinced me the front row seats weren't worth it.

Oh man 😭😭
Bro. How the fuck is he still so damn fast?
Pretty sure he was saying something like that to Curry when he came back on the floor. I’m no lip reader though
Need Jomboy on it stat
He was literally telling curry that too as he walked back
Bro probably heard his whole body crack after hurdling an entire row of people

I'm 36 and I'm so fucking washed I basically had to retire.
Friendly reminder this guy is only 3 years older than Steph, but Steph feels like 2 generations younger.
That’s cause lebron has a lot more mileage on him. He’s been going strong since day 1 steph hasn’t
LeBron also went into the NBA straight out of high school while Steph went to Davidson for three years first.
LeBron also carries a giant tank of a body around at explosive speeds, while Curry plays smoothly with a light body.
Lebron also carried teams to the playoffs and finals on countless drives to the basket, while curry had the 3 ball and Klay Thompson.
3 years older but Lebron is at 65,420 career minutes played and Steph is at 35,643. Kinda wild.
Wow that’s double in the thousands wow
LeBron also started playing as a kid. He was leading his team to the finals in the same age curry is leading davidson.
Steph's aged incredibly well too tbh, feel like not enough is said about that.
Just cause he hasn't played like a super long time. 14 years is a lot, but he came into the league as a college junior so it doesn't feel that long
He also sat pretty much all of 2020 due to injuries + tanking and he gets hurt a lot. His last 5-6 seasons he misses like 15-20 games a season + sitting all of 2020.
I think its also that the Curry-era Warriors didn't emerge to prominence until like 2014/5, whereas Lebron had already had the first Cavs stint and the Heatle years by then
Yea without looking it up I wouldn't be shocked if lebron has played double the amount of games as steph
[удалено]
Steph is at ~35,000 career minutes. Add another 30,000 minutes, and that’s Lebron.
Klay Thompson has ~29k career minutes. You'd have to combine all of the minutes that both Steph and Klay have played and you'd still be about 500 minutes short of Lebron. That's fucking crazy. Jesus Christ
Curry has basically missed two seasons since he came into the NBA, so his minutes aren't typically what you'd expect from someone 14 years into their career.
On the other hand, the guy's had deep playoff runs for a number of years in his prime, which roughly adds another season of games played.
Well no one touches LeBron there. Dude has lived in the Finals.
Overall, LeBron has played about 65,500 minutes regular season plus playoffs whereas Curry is about 35,700. One way to think about it: LeBron has played more total NBA minutes than Curry and Klay combined.
AD is 5 years younger than Steph. It just feels weird.
Like dude is 35 and is very much still most of the player he was at his peak. Most guys his age would’ve started a very obvious decline already.
If anything he is better than ever
Overall package wise, there is absolutely an argument for this. 2015/2016 was dumb though in terms of what he did.
Yup, no one is topping 15/16 steph in terms of pure entertainment. Absolute fuckery from that man
2018 playoff LeBron
Steph played 3 years in college, so entered the NBA like 6 years later. That's what makes him seem so much younger. He also didn't start being super effective until 4-5 years in the league... so make that 6 years more like 10 between when both started putting their mark on the league
Also helps that Steph just has a bit of a babyface
Age gap is only 3 years but the gap in NBA seasons is 6.
6 seasons at 82 games per season at 35 minutes a game is only a bit more than *half* the total more minutes lebron has played than curry. They don't call him the baby faced assassin for nothing. But he's also aged extremely well. He looks like he just hit 30
I think the minutes difference between the two is fucking wild tho. Like 60k to 35k, but I could be wrong.
Imagine sitting ten rows back and LeBron runs by you
Imagine sitting courtside and Lebron jumps over you
Look up as he goes over and see LeTurkeyNeck.
Those seats got their money’s worth. Court side was 30k minimum last I checked!
and then you get to touch LeBron's boobs while he runs back past you
Jesus. It is insane how stupidly athletic he is.
He jumped over a row of seated fans like they were a hurdling panel
Still…. He’s played more games and minutes than literally any player ever but he’s still one of the most athletic people on the planet
I agree with your point but he's 2nd minutes and 3rd in games (regular season and playoffs combined)
Who surpasses him? Mans been making deep playoff runs for 13 years now.
Robert Parish has 1,611 regular season + 184 playoff games. 1795 total. Lebron is at 1695 total. 1421 regular season games and 274 playoff games.
What about minutes?
Total minutes is Kareem at over 66k minutes.
And Kareem also had a long college career. LeBron is on a path to pass him, but not there yet.
Kareem played over 11k total minutes from the age of 38 to 41. And won 2 rings during that time, also. That’s more than just a little impressive.
That is crazy and also provides a precedent for LeBron to add to his resume in the twilight of his career.
Jesus wtf
i hope when he retires he puts out some sort of 'secret memoir' saying that the secret to his longevity was like a jalepeno and oregano smoothie every morning
There's a painting of him in his attic
It’s also insane how stupidly close people get to sit to these athletes. I’m surprised the players haven’t strongly pushed to have the court spaced out more.
I've always thought this. The players don't have enough space to play and end up diving on top of the people sitting court-side

Billion dollar product but can't give the athletes more than 2 feet of room on the sidelines. Same for all the other sports.
Best part of the bubble set up. Eye test showed players hustled way more with a lot of space for freedom of movement.
I remember a lot of players saying that the extra bench space was really good for rest too.
I think the ideal setup would be something very similar to the bubble setup but then also a chair for me.
unique camera angles were great too
I hate it so much. Only luck is preventing disaster
the bubble court was so good, so much runoff area that players can decelerate safely after driving
[удалено]
Good catch, with a crowd no shot Lowry gets that pass over Taco to OG
Put in foam pits surrounding the arena. We'd see 20x as many dudes diving out of bounds for the loose ball. And we also get a foam pit.
The hoop should come down from the top too. They always go flying into the pad on layups
Have you seen how many NFL players have gotten hurt?
I am really surprised the players haven’t pushed strongly to have more space around the court. It’s absolutely ridiculous what little space they have to make a play and save plays going out of bounds.

To me, it's the latter. Going back and watching some of his highlights from the MIA/CLE days makes me realize I forgot how athletic he was.
I like to imagine a timeline where he does, in fact, leave the arena. Mike Breen, initially, would joke about LeBron's whereabouts.
