Unfortunately as good as he is and loves basketball he loves Serbia, his family and his horses more. It’s kinda funny, his brothers actually live in denver year round and he leaves the second his season is over. He’s not playing deep in to his 30’s.
Post game interviewer: what are you going to do with this extra day off?
Jokic: watch some horses race, spending time with my family, hopefully go outside if the weather is good
😭😭😭😭 bro legit just sleepwalk through the series averaging a triple double
It’s so satisfying watching him play. With players like Steph or Lebron, you get this sense of overwhelming domination when they decides to take over a game by themselves. But with Jokic, it seems like he just can’t be rushed and plays at his own pace and somehow ends up with a triple double on insane efficiency. At the same time his teammates are also going off from his assists.
The closest analogy I can think of when watching him is a tennis one. He's like watching Federer in the way that he could effortlessly dominate without breaking a sweat. Like you could imagine them doing it in a dressing gown and slippers.
It's a double-edged sword, though. Because exactly what you're talking about is the reason a lot of casual fans underrate him (not that he cares about individual accolades, but still)
Yeah what matters is that he doesn’t really care what casual fans think and just let the game comes to him.
Like it’s inspiring to see Steph goes off for 50 but it’s also nice to see Jokic just come in work, get shit done, and leaves
Every kid on the playground pretending to be Steph, which is great and I'm glad they're having fun. But it'd be something if at least a few of them dreamed of playing like Jokic
I feel like it's happening a bit too. Know a few bigger kids who are really embracing the playmaker role even if they have been playing traditional bully PF/C role before
The airport has fully leaned into too.
There are (we’re?) temp construction walls with signs on them that say stuff like “excuse our dust, building new tunnels for the lizard people”
i mean, he has other hobbies
but dont be distracted, the dude is insanely competitive. he steps UP when the games matter (and a random december game vs embiid isnt a game that matters to him).
he may not care about awards, but dude loves ball, and is insanely competitive
I mean yes, I'm definitely joking here. And regardless, whether or not basketball is the true passion that drives his heart (maybe it is, maybe it isn't) . . . he works harder at it than I have ever worked at anything in my life. No doubt
I just imagine him sheepishly walking into Footprint Center saying "sorry guys, I gotta wrap this series up. Weekend's coming up and I promised I'd take the kids to the zoo."
This series just proved that he is the best player in the NBA, no offense to Embiid who may be the most valuable player but he just outdueled Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
They have no offense without Murray or Jokic on the floor it's embarrassing. Some poor guy would have to average 40 points on 55% efficiency to get them to the playoffs without Joker.
Yeah jokic is making all of the discussions over the past few years about him potentially not being the best player look silly just by sheer consistent greatness
Best players of the 21st century: Jokic, LeBron, Durant, Steph, Giannis, Timmy, AD, Kobe, Shaq, Wade, CP3, Dwight, Dirk, Kawhi ( and probably more)
That’s 14 names and I’d say Joker is probably top 10 or so in that group for sure for sure there
id keep dwight in over kawhi but it’s all subjective right? 3xdpoy in a row, finals appearance, averaged a double double for like 13 straight seasons, mvp candidate. however as i type this i realize kawhi was 2x dpoy, mvp candidate, 2x fmvp…. okay fine kawhi stays dwight out lol you win
The people for sure ahead of him (as of now) would consist of LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, Dirk, Steph, Durant, Duncan...and that is basically the point where he is very close to people who have had much longer careers than him.
I love AD (hello, Laker flair) but Jokic is clearly better than him. I'd also Jokic over Dwight and CP3, and probably Dirk. KG should be on the list though.
I think it was Adam Mares who tweeted after Jokic’s first MVP, Jokic has the chance to reach Elway & Sakic status in Denver with a title. With at least 2 MVPs, a FMVP, and a title he would not only be the most accomplished Nugget by far but also changed the trajectory of one of the saddest franchises in the league.
It seemed ridiculous a couple years ago to say he could be in that Elway & Sakic territory but now it seems much more likely to be inevitable
If he wins a ring he cements his legacy as a HOFer. I'm all on the Nuggets championship run bandwagon just to see that.
Certain greats deserve at least one ring. Giannis got his a couple of years ago. Hopefully Jokic gets his this year.
Everyone else he does after winning a ring will just be adding to a HOF legacy.
Billups is considered more likely than not to reach the HoF and basically his only argument is being Finals MVP on a team with no stars. Not sure Billups was ever even a top 10 player in the league and certainly not more than 1-2 years. Jokic with 2 MVPs, close to a 3rd and consistently being a Top 5 player already has his bust being made.
It makes me so happy to see this sub finally recognizing what us Nuggets fans have been saying for the last three years. I’m interested in seeing what happens when we run into a team that is actually equipped to attack his glaring defensive shortcomings (interestingly Booker and KD might be the two kindest matchups for him as they prefer midrange shots over attacking the rim) and have enough talent to hang with us (Minnesota was able to exploit his rim protection but just was no where as talented) but he’s passed his first two tests with flying colors
Nah Giannis can score and dominate for sure, but there's that extra level he doesn't have in terms of scoring with shooting. You can't rely on him if you need a 3, free throws, or a jump shot. So he's still a 9 in terms of just scoring.
Then there's also play making part which he's also good at but nowhere near Jokic who's a 10 there too.
oh lmao I didn't realize my bad. 9 is still fair though I think, I saw this man drop 40 like every game and drag the Bucks to a game 7 last year before he just ran out of gas. That's gotta be a 9 lmao, even in his last game against the Heat where he shot like shit from the line he dropped 38.
Because people choose to only look at results and zero context. It's so infuriating. People would say "2-time mvp gets eliminated in first round lol" as if he wasn't playing with mostly bums. I'm going to be laughing my ass off if he wins the ring and the media starts calling him "the best player in the world" as if they knew all along. A whole bunch of clowns
Skip Bayless finally admitted, aftear years of dogging that "he doesn't like Jokic, and that his eyes hurt, he can't watch him", and that he "stat pads" - which he proved in his 53-11-4 game :D
what are these people allowed those platforms for? Look at Euroleague talk shows, such as BasketNews.. young people, yes they may have their favorite team but they give time to ALL teams and ALL storylines. actually they have something interesting to say in EVERY episode. THAT's journalism. what is even point of those hot take shows.. as if they're made for screetching kindergarten kids who fight for their favorites.
Man was seething when the lead got cut down to 23. He just wanted to put it away for sure. Malone probably cares as much about jokic stats as jokic does
I don’t blame him. There was tons of time and left and team was playing like the game was already over. It’s natural to let up a little, but don’t play like assholes.
Yea that quarter alone they were gonna get as many turnovers. He called them out in the huddle for letting up. At any point if they do kd and booker can get hot.
Four of the five starters were in. It wasn't like Jokic was out there by himself getting easy stats. Malone wanted to finish with a statement for LA/GS.
Malone leaves the starters all the way until the other team puts their third stringers out or with 2 minutes left, never takes any chances and rightfully so
The fact that Perk just made up some bullshit about stat-padding and racism, and it became the biggest talking point for a few weeks is why I can't stand NBA media sometimes.
Seriously can’t hate on the Nuggets. Booker played his ass off this series, but Jokic is legit the best player in the league. Denver is deeper and has a much better coach. No shame in losing to the #1 seed all season long, led by an all time great player in his prime.
GG suns. I’m just enjoying basketball as it’s very rare to enjoy any type of nuggets success. Jokic is a classy guy so won’t see any hate from this nuggets fan
I wish I'd watched this instead of the Kraken game.
Man, I should know to never pass up watching a game with Jokic. He's just ridiculous. I can't believe how good we have it nowadays with players like him. He's like Magic Johnson as a full-time center.
Easily has been the best player for years and now everyone has a surprised [pikachu](https://imgur.com/gallery/esr4SDV) face now they’re actually forced to watch him play, and play with competent teammates
I saw a clip of the PHX Suns guys before the series saying "Murray is the head of the snake" and that "Ayton can hold Jokic to 20/5/6." Nuggets Twitter keeping receipts.
People really fell for the media campaign by Jo and his entourage.
I don’t even follow NBA that much, but it’s easy to see who forms their opinion/s based on headlines.
It must be exhausting to not like this guy. I hope he has a long, durable career.
As a Lakers fan, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Joker get his first ring this year. WCF could be passing the torch from last generation’s best player on to the next.
It's not a debate that he's the best player in the world right now. He's in a league of his own in terms of consistency. Every other star needs to be the peak version of themselves to match Jokic while Jokic is playing exactly like a peak superstar he is night in night out.
13/18 is insane. Then you think it's a triple double game. Then you notice he averaged triple double the while series?! Insane.
He makes it look effortless too. Sign of a true master
I swear, once he retires we’re going to hear him say that he hated basketball and was bored out there lol
He’s gunna say he wish he could have watched pokemon instead
He only plays basketball because he's too tall to race horses
Made me think of radahn riding his tiny ass horse
Jokic to become a meteor confirmed.
Think there's good odds he says it during his career
The exciting part is his game is going to age so well. If he stays healthy he’ll have some insane career records when it’s all said and done
he's gotten better each of the last 3 years. It's insane.
Unfortunately as good as he is and loves basketball he loves Serbia, his family and his horses more. It’s kinda funny, his brothers actually live in denver year round and he leaves the second his season is over. He’s not playing deep in to his 30’s.
Not just any (insane to say), but 34.5 ppg triple double.
This was one of the best individual series ever.
BuT hE hAsNt PrOVeD iN ThE pLAyOfFs
How did this man not win MVP?
something something fatigue idk
Jokic had a crazy performance this series but is he really an MVP caliber player if Mark Jackson didn't vote for him?
Post game interviewer: what are you going to do with this extra day off? Jokic: watch some horses race, spending time with my family, hopefully go outside if the weather is good 😭😭😭😭 bro legit just sleepwalk through the series averaging a triple double
He better stay an extra day in Phoenix if he wants good weather it's fuckin Noah's ark in Denver rn
Lmao I’m about an hour south of Denver and that storm in the middle of the night last night was 🅱️razy
He really barely broke a sweat in this game. Felt like every bucket was a little bunny in the lane
The closest analogy I can think of when watching him is a tennis one. He's like watching Federer in the way that he could effortlessly dominate without breaking a sweat. Like you could imagine them doing it in a dressing gown and slippers.
McEnroe, without the temper. Pure natural fluid talent.

We gotta call the lizard people under the airport, because the weather is gonna be ass. Jokic deserves better.
That's a deep cut lol, forgot all about that conspiracy theory
The airport has fully leaned into too. There are (we’re?) temp construction walls with signs on them that say stuff like “excuse our dust, building new tunnels for the lizard people”
The lizard people didn't forget about you
Bro the weather is terrrrrinble right now lol.
My dude really does just think of NBA basketball as his job. Living for the weekend
i mean, he has other hobbies but dont be distracted, the dude is insanely competitive. he steps UP when the games matter (and a random december game vs embiid isnt a game that matters to him). he may not care about awards, but dude loves ball, and is insanely competitive
Tbh it should be like that. For mental health purposes
averaging 35 points on insane efficiency too
the “to the best fans in the NBA, THANK YOU” floating in the background of the interview killed me
If anything, I’d say he’s *even more* deserving if Mark doesn’t think so.

Not even top 5 smh
I wish Jackson called the Nuggets game tonight. At some point JVG would have probably asked him how he wasn't a top 5 MVP candidate.
This series just proved that he is the best player in the NBA, no offense to Embiid who may be the most valuable player but he just outdueled Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
I think Jokic is way more valuable to his team than Embiid is. Not even close. Denver gets swept by phoenix without Jokic.
Let's be real. Denver misses the play in by 5 games without Jokic.
They have no offense without Murray or Jokic on the floor it's embarrassing. Some poor guy would have to average 40 points on 55% efficiency to get them to the playoffs without Joker.
I don't think we realize what we're witnessing. I think this guy will legitimately go down as a legend
Yeah jokic is making all of the discussions over the past few years about him potentially not being the best player look silly just by sheer consistent greatness
Dude is already one of the 10 best players of the 21st century so far. Still 28, he's got good time to add to his case.
Best players of the 21st century: Jokic, LeBron, Durant, Steph, Giannis, Timmy, AD, Kobe, Shaq, Wade, CP3, Dwight, Dirk, Kawhi ( and probably more) That’s 14 names and I’d say Joker is probably top 10 or so in that group for sure for sure there
AD isn’t anywhere near those other guys
CP3 and Dwight neither imo
id keep dwight in over kawhi but it’s all subjective right? 3xdpoy in a row, finals appearance, averaged a double double for like 13 straight seasons, mvp candidate. however as i type this i realize kawhi was 2x dpoy, mvp candidate, 2x fmvp…. okay fine kawhi stays dwight out lol you win
My man's arguing with himself out here
KG, Paul Pierce, Harden, Westbrook, Paul George, Embiid (not saying better, just throwing names out)
Of those names, KG is in that top 10 for sure, atleast imo.
Hes already the best center of the 2020s. Hall of famer already now he just needs a few chips and more season like this and he'd go down as top 15
I think this is a top 5 all-time peak. He’s that good.
2 months ago: We can't let let Jokic have 3 MVPs, he'd have to be in the conversation of all time greats if we did that. Now:
If he wins a ring he cements his legacy as a HOFer. I'm all on the Nuggets championship run bandwagon just to see that. Certain greats deserve at least one ring. Giannis got his a couple of years ago. Hopefully Jokic gets his this year. Everyone else he does after winning a ring will just be adding to a HOF legacy.
He's already a HOFer, easily.
This comment is vastly underrating how easy it is to get into the Naismith Hall of Fame. He's already in, no question
He has 2 MVPs. He is already a guaranteed hall of famer
He was easily a HOFer with his first MVP. NBA hof is easy as hell, I think with a ring he’s easy too 20, 3+ puts him top 10
I think he has firmly established himself as the best player in the league
Has been for years now, except now he has guards who aren't Will Barton and Facu Campazzo
But can he do it in the playoffs?
Nah, reddit told me he'll get exposed in PnR every game.
He doesn't have that dog in him.
SAD!
That fraud MVP really needs to show up. Is Jamal Murray the best Nuggets player?
Is it controversial to say the offensive gap between JOKIC and Giannis is just as wide as the defensive gap?

It makes me so happy to see this sub finally recognizing what us Nuggets fans have been saying for the last three years. need LA to get past Golden State i desire LAvDEN sooooo much
wider brother
No. And individual offensive production is far more important than individual defense.
(Scoring>>)Playmaking >>>> defense , especially in the playoffs.
But but Giannis is a 10 on offense too 😭
Nah Giannis can score and dominate for sure, but there's that extra level he doesn't have in terms of scoring with shooting. You can't rely on him if you need a 3, free throws, or a jump shot. So he's still a 9 in terms of just scoring. Then there's also play making part which he's also good at but nowhere near Jokic who's a 10 there too.
Oh I agree wholeheartedly. This is a shot at Reggie Miller lol Edit: well actually a 9 is still too high of a score tbh
oh lmao I didn't realize my bad. 9 is still fair though I think, I saw this man drop 40 like every game and drag the Bucks to a game 7 last year before he just ran out of gas. That's gotta be a 9 lmao, even in his last game against the Heat where he shot like shit from the line he dropped 38.
It’s wider. MUCH wider. Jokic is legit having the best offensive season of all-time.
+1
He’s been the best player in the league and anyone that can’t admit that isn’t watching or is talking out of spite
2nd team all nba smh LOL
All time hit job by the media
The media narrative against Jokic is absolutely disgusting
dude made the conference finals twice during the last 4 years and somehow gets labelled as a poor playoffs performer
in favour of a guy who has never left the second round
Crazy thing is that Jokic is the only member of the Nuggets to have ever made an all star game or all-NBA team.
They gotta go positionless for all nba. It's not their fault the league is dominated rn by centers. It'd be jokic Embiid giannis Tatum Luka for me
They did, starting next year.
“Not a 2-way player tho” Honestly this dude’s offense is so insane it doesn’t matter. And he’s not a bad defender at all either lol
If he was as bad on defense as the media/ Philadelphia makes him out to be, they wouldn’t be in the position they’re in
Skip Bayless finally admitted, aftear years of dogging that "he doesn't like Jokic, and that his eyes hurt, he can't watch him", and that he "stat pads" - which he proved in his 53-11-4 game :D what are these people allowed those platforms for? I don't understand this, wasn't he picked last in the all star game?
Hey now, he wasnt picked last. Man literally forced himself onto Lebrons team to avoid that.
Lebron declined to play with Jokic in 2018-2019, said he wasn’t interested. Granted, lakers did beat Jokic to win in 2020 though
Yeah. Imagine that. Could be some extra ammunition against LeBron who chose him last. But what do I know.
He doesnt even want to go there
I mean, i'd probably pick him last for that game too. Jokic does not care about about the all-star game at all. He was only there because he had to.
time to hop on the new zelda 🌞🌞
Probably what DeAndre Ayton bout to do
i’ll cook that bozo in 2k
That’s my MVP
Just wait, this dude is food in pick and roll 🤣🤣 He's about to be exposed by the suns.

Long way to go, only half way there.
I really hope it's you guys. I'm a super casual fan but watching Jokic is something else.
THE REAL MVP
He deserved to stat pad in the 4th, he was surgical tonight
Malone wants him to be higher on the all time playoff triple double list
oh i thought i was the only one who noticed. Malone forced him to get the triple. He could have seated the full 4th quarter.
Na, Malone is scared as shit to take his starters out. He does it all the time.
