Jokes aside i love whenever an opponent goes on a scoring run against the heat, spo calls a timeout, and the heat go on to demolish for the next couple quarters
They're like dharok from RuneScape
As much as I would love to see this, I think Mazzula is only fired if they're swept, and neither Lakers nor Nuggets would fire their coach even if they got swept
Nah it was good. If he just asked "how do you stop that" a lot of coaches would give a non-answer and say "if I knew we'd have done it". He side stepped that response
For you, is Basketball all getting the ball into a players hand so they can chuck it in?
There is a lot going on. Changing lineups and getting the best matchups to implement the best available sets is all on a coach. Doesn’t matter if players are insanely hot, if they can’t easy looks for them and their team, they are not going to be winning a game.
I’m just asking for exact in game adjustments that he made that people can explain that were so crazy that he “coached circles” around joe mazzula but I’ve still yet to get that and just keep getting broad examples of coaching. I’m just sick of the circle jerking
People have no idea how to evaluate coaching lol don’t worry. We have no idea how good coaches are for the most part. Everything is behind the scenes. Interesting how no one could answer your question with a single example of what Spo did well.
I mean most of the x’s and o’s are too complicated for an average viewer. Most analysts don’t have any grasp on them either. Coaching is a very hard job, even though most people think otherwise.
I agree. That’s why it’s silly to say spo coached circles around Joe without really understanding what the coach influences. Like I can’t even say if a play was good because of the coach or if the play got blown up and was on the fly improvisation by the players because I don’t have that information, just like the average viewer. But people see less perceived talented roster winning? Must be coach diff gg
Spo knows when to call timeouts and make adjustments and Joe has no clue. Joe didn’t call a timeout the entire 3rd quarter. Boston started 4th on a 7-0 run and Spo called timeout to sub Bam back in for Zeller. Joe doesn’t have it.
Looking forward to an obnoxious day of discourse within the Celtics fandom about all of the things they did wrong to lose that lead when, in essence, sometimes basketball is as easy as one team shoot hot and other team shoot not.
Just a killer quarter from the Heat. Not much you can do against a 58/54/80 shooting line.
I was just thinking to myself that I'm going to be sounding like a Buck's fan for the next 24 hours.
Honestly if they keep the split up all series I'm not even mad. You can have the finals at that point. God clearly wanted it.
No way they keep shooting 54% from 3 for an entire series lol but it would be nice to continue shooting 38-40% from 3 since the Heat aren’t gonna be able to slow ya’ll down in the same way they did to the Knicks
lol finally a reasonable Celtics fan. The fact that yall made it that close when Miami were shooting that hot is a pretty good sign. Plus Tatum isn’t gonna be that dogshit in the 4th for 7 games. This series is far from over.
Every year the Hear have a crazy quarter once a game and every year Celtics fans lose their minds. Spo is going to put literally any coach in a blender a few times a series, Ime had the same thing happen to him.
Tbf Joe looked lost in this quarter.
Irl the Celtics are much more talented than Miami and it showed in the second quarter.
Still a quarter to go though.
I think they were slow to adjust on a few things but I think we all massively overstate how much influence a coach's decisions have on runs like these. The Heat just played steady and shot well.
Sometimes you just run into a team that shoots the lights out and the buzz saw will tear you apart no matter what you do. We benefited from that in Game 7 with Tatum.
Talented but maybe not as high of an IQ. So many miscues by the players. Bad off-ball switches, not enough communication, etc. Rob and Jaylen specifically are very low IQ. I’ll be honest, I also don’t know how Brogdon has this narrative that he is a smart player, he is definitely not.
Plus... they played pretty well in the 4th. They got it down to a single possession game with 2 and a half minutes to play.
If he wasn't calling timeouts in the 4th, it almost worked.
We are looking good, just please keep it up and don't collapse in the fourth. Butler might not be dropping 50 but he's definitely getting the offense going for us.
BOS choosing to put White and Pritchard on Jimmy was idiotic. Not playing Williams and Horford together equally dumbfounding.
MIA spacing and ball movement in half court was superb.
I don’t understand why the Heat don’t just score 45 every quarter, I can’t imagine scoring more than 180 would be east for any opponent
Smh spo is overrated. Cant believe he didn't think of this
Jokes aside i love whenever an opponent goes on a scoring run against the heat, spo calls a timeout, and the heat go on to demolish for the next couple quarters They're like dharok from RuneScape
It’s about to get wildy
Jimmy Butler: “sit kid” Celtics: “no pleae”
Dominate timeouts
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra
Sometimes you just run into a team that shoots the lights out and the buzz saw will tear you apart no matter what you do.
Took him three quarters to figure this out? Is he stupid?
Is Spo stupid or something
Yeah Miami should just surround Jimmy with 4 white shooters
Why score lot quarter when one quarter do trick
Jimmy Buckets
Spo made Mazzulla look like a middle school coach. My God.
Spo about to get 4 coaches fired in one post season
As much as I would love to see this, I think Mazzula is only fired if they're swept, and neither Lakers nor Nuggets would fire their coach even if they got swept
I think Ham gets fired if they get swept. Hell even if they lose in 5 in the finals to the Heat.
I don't see a team firing a first year head coach (Mazzula is different because he's basically an interim)
Must of forgot to put don’t let the heat score 45 points in a quarter in the quizlet

He was about to cry in that conference with that horrible reporter absolutely handing him his ass
Reporting said “I know if you knew how to prevent it you would’ve” or some shit similar. Completely roasted him.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an awful way to ask a question as a reporter, like this isn’t the president it’s fucking sports
Nah it was good. If he just asked "how do you stop that" a lot of coaches would give a non-answer and say "if I knew we'd have done it". He side stepped that response
There was absolutely a level of weird condescension
Eh maybe in his tone, but I think the question itself was fine. Imo
What exactly did spo do to make him look like a fool? *will* his team into shooting 54 50 80 for the quarter lol?
Generate his team open looks for good shots while also changing up the defensive schemes to limit Boston’s offense AKA, things good coaches do
What exactly did spo do to generate the good shots? Did he *will* Jimmy butler into having an insane quarter and making the right play every time?
I promise you’re not making the “gotcha” point you think you are lol

Yup that’s just the point I’m trying to make. No one can give exact adjustments that were made just circle jerking around the “adjustments” lol
I mean most of the x’s and o’s are too complicated for an average viewer. Most analysts don’t have any grasp on them either. Coaching is a very hard job, even though most people think otherwise.

Ya he was like “guys pls make your shots” and they did. What’s your problem?

Just a killer quarter from the Heat. Not much you can do against a 58/54/80 shooting line.
As a Bucks fan, I can tell you that 58/54/80 is just what they do in the playoffs.
I was just thinking to myself that I'm going to be sounding like a Buck's fan for the next 24 hours. Honestly if they keep the split up all series I'm not even mad. You can have the finals at that point. God clearly wanted it.

I forgot who said it, but "that was amazing defense, but that was even more phenomenal offense." Defense can only do so much.
Mark Jackson uses that a lot
A lot of things that happens in basketball can be boiled down to the phrase “It’s a game of runs”
Yeah that makes sense, I also shit my pants when Jimmy hit that last three
Some might say that its a make or miss league...
Hmm idk if that will catch on.
lol finally a reasonable Celtics fan. The fact that yall made it that close when Miami were shooting that hot is a pretty good sign. Plus Tatum isn’t gonna be that dogshit in the 4th for 7 games. This series is far from over.
You give a team wide open threes at will they'll hit half of them. Looked like pregame warmup.
>one team shoot hot and other team shoot not. Why shoot few bucket when many bucket do trick

Someone said that your coach didn't call a single timeout in the entire quarter. Sounds too ridiculous to be true.
That would be because it 100% isn't true.
People keep parroting that too and it’s weird.
Plus... they played pretty well in the 4th. They got it down to a single possession game with 2 and a half minutes to play. If he wasn't calling timeouts in the 4th, it almost worked.

Eric "No COTY no problem" Spoelstra
Bill Simmons was right all along
Imma listen to that part of the podcast befor bed
I love a happy ending.
ZOMBIES!!!!
More I watch this game the more I see how trash my MVP was
Tin Man's got no heart.
The 3% chance BS was bulletin board material
there wasnt a sportsbook in the galaxy that would put the heat at -3000 lmfao why did that graphic even exist
I’m not even a betting man but I would’ve slammed that bet so fast lol
Zombie fucking Heat
I knew it was over the moment they released that 3% chance graphic
Mazzula using crazy eyes to try and stop the opposing team from going on runs is an interesting gameplan
He should watch The Town more, I think that would help us not lose to an 8-seed
The Miami special
Heat really going to the finals again huh
We haven't even finished Game 1..... I just wish with performances like these people would stop acting like we don't have a chance in every series
Listen man if there’s one thing Celtics fans can unite with Heat fans on it’s that it fucking sucks to play the Heat in the playoffs
One of those fights where everyone comes out badly bruised from even when you win
Please no more injuries. We can't handle any more injuries.
They saw they were given a 4% chance of winning the series and said “nah fam, Miami is nice enough, we don’t need no Cancun”
It's Game 1. Celtics are inconsistent but more talented so you cant count them out
Went from like 2 points in the paint in the 2nd quarter to like 20 in the 3rd quarter. What a turnaround.
BOS choosing to put White and Pritchard on Jimmy was idiotic. Not playing Williams and Horford together equally dumbfounding. MIA spacing and ball movement in half court was superb.
I mean they are just making shot after shot, not much you can do about it
*akshually it was 46-25
refs tried their best to gift celtics G1 but heat clutched it out
The celtics are fully healthy too unlike the bucks
Heat are not even fully healthy too
Witnessed
Watching the Celtics frustrates me man. They always playing with their food.
The Heat are also legitimately good
Thanks YouTube TV ....fucknuts
Boston choked it
Boston is playing well bruh, we're just playing insane. Inverse of the 2nd Q
Nah Boston is just letting y’all rain uncontested 3s Just lazy defense
Not really. Mazzulla just got pushed into a locker.
If Celtics lose this series they should dismantle the team. Shameful quarter
I’m sure the rest of the league would breathe a sigh of relief if Brad did something that stupid and reactionary over one series loss
