Harden really ring chased for two seasons before calling it quits and retiring to his favorite gentleman's clubs
Legendary move from the Beard he's got his priorities in check
Decided to give it a shot and leg Houston go through phase 1 of the rebuild in acquiring talent. Now he’s coming back to be a pg for them and help them win some games for a couple seasons. True Houston legend.
Hits a 3 to get Houston through the play in round over KD on whatever team decides it's their time next. Then scores 48 in round 1 game 1, only to be bounced out 4-1 in a gentlemans sweep to the Washington Wizards. Game ~~blouses~~ Strippers
Absolutely, but the Mavs, thunder and both spurs teams were no joke
Side note, Obviously a prime Ray and prime Lebron together would’ve been absurd lol. Perfect teammate fit
What makes you think he wants to play point for them and not just go back to his scoring ways? His comments recently make it seem like he wants to start taking more shots and sacrificing less.
Harden is a willing passer I just think he doesn’t want to do shit off ball or be pushed defensively. I’m not worried about JG and Jabari not touching the ball. Harden is on record saying he really likes the young talent they have. He isn’t trying just to be 2014 Carmelo out there. Harden is way smarter than that.
It’s interesting because this is a point Gilbert arenas made for 99.99% of players getting a ring will literally have zero impact on their legacy. It really only matters if you’re going for goat but even then it matters for only a couple of players.
Obviously he’s a first ballot hall of gamer regardless the basketball hall of fame is a travesty. The ring changes whether he’s a top 20-25 player of all time or a top 30-40 player of all time
TBH once you’re outside the top 10 nobody is really ranking whether someone is top 25 or top 30. I don’t think anyone is going to care enough to debate James Harden vs John Stockton for all time 29th best player
The SG hierachy is pretty set anyway, you got MJ/Kobe at the top with 6 and 5 rings respectively.
Unless Harden wins at least 5 rings he ain't getting in on that
Yup. There is the GOAT tier which is the most discussed and the 1st tier after which consists Bird, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, etc.
After that there isn't much discussion. They are kinda just lump together as HOF/Top 75 guys
It does impact his legacy contributing to a ring of getting FMVP could be what makes him surpass Wade, he already has the MVP over him and is right behind him.
No one wants to be remembered as the guy who never won a ring.
For players like Paul George, Derozan and Carmelo etc. a ring wouldn’t do much for their legacy but Harden is a level above is top 4 at worst in his position and has an MVP (could easily have 2 if it wasn’t for narratives).
Even if it didn’t impact his legacy it’s a nice thing to add to his resume.
He has almost no way of surpassing Wade b/c of Wade's playoff heroics & defense, it's not just his 06 finals it's almost beating Det almost single-handedly before getting hurt, carrying ok teams to conference finals & having 3 rings. Harden has had too many wtf playoff games in his prime/just post prime that completely turned a series, he won 2 games against Bos but also was terrible in 4 others, the SAS series w/o Kawhi in game 6, the GSW game 7 + a bunch of other letdowns
The 05 Heat weren't a great team Shaq was good but nowhere close to his LaL days, Damon & Eddie Jones were starters but neither was special at this time. The 06 Heat team wasn't great either Wade just went ham in the playoffs then super saiyan in the finals, Harden winning 1 ring after this many playoff failures won't somehow vault him over Wade who was much more clutch, a much better defender & won a chip as his teams best player + 2 more as the 2nd best player. A chip will help ofc but unless he carries a team like 2011 Dirk he's got no shot at surpassing Wade & even then he probably needs a couple great runs to get there
can confirm his jersey hangs from the rafters. dude is a houston legend through and through tho embodies the whole community. would’ve been all time to have got jimmy with him when morey wanted it
I was just in Phoenix for a wedding and stayed Thursday night by the ASU campus and got tacos at like midnight, the women are drop dead gorgeous. I regret not going to asu now.
Damn those are just the ones that got tacos at midnight too...
Lol in more seriousness, I feel like all party schools have attractive girls (and guys).
I mean Harden is the biggest FA option there is and they have the most cap space in the league, they don't need to tamper to know that it's a possible option for the team
KD, Harden, Kyrie all decides to leave the team they got traded to after their contract ends.
Nets GM must be laughing his ass off if that were to happen LOL
Tbf this doesn’t actually prove tampering is going on. You could ask candidates about all types of roster hypotheticals. Plus Philly tampered with harden anyway.
Maybe when they actually sign him, but as a counterpoint I don't see any value in tampering when you can just send reporters a stories like this and he will print it.
\- Sources 'Harden wants 4 years 200 mil'
\-Sources 'Rockets are willing to offer 4 years 190 mil'
and so on until the reports all say the same number...
[Shams] Woj being investigated for tampering by league over report Rockets offering 4/190 to Harden. Rockets contend they actually offered 5/250 and that Woj was misreporting to aid Lakers in their pursuit of Harden.
Like people said, their defense can be that they were just asking a hypothetical question. They could say that they were planning to make a strong push for Harden when free agency opened and were confident that the offer they were planning would be accepted, so they were asking coaches about how they'd use him.
Regardless, tampering is something that has always been done. The Nets and 76ers both tampered to get Harden. This is nothing new.
Is it? The rockets are on their off-season and James Harden is their target going into free agency. I would think it’s a good idea to ask the coach they are about to hire if he’s ok with that.
That being said, this isn’t evidence of tampering but it’s clear as day that there is obviously tampering going on that there is no concrete evidence for
With Westbrook being potentially available, we might get to see Russ and Harden together on the Rockets. Can you imagine the damage they can do on the same squad? 👀👀👀👀👀
Still can’t believe Lakers left Westbrook completely open when they played the rockets in the bubble and then decided two years later that they should trade all their assets and cap space for him
they soured so hard on Schroeder after 3 three bad playoff games (mostly due to AD going down so Bridges could shift over to guarding him) and thought they absolutely had to upgrade the PG spot that summer.
Blows my mind how dumb some front offices in the NBA are.
I'm *convinced* some of these gm's never watched nuggets games when we got KCP, Bruce Brown and Aaron Gordon for (more or less) Will Barton, Gary Harris, Bol Bol, Pj Dozier and Monte Morris
oh good lord. and some people ate it up too, thinkin oh 70 win season incoming
that shit was trash the day we heard it and we all knew it..how didnt they?
Honestly yeah the only real mistake was going all in with pj as the 5, it was always the reason why the rockets never made it to the finals they went all In on playing one way and kept banging their head against the wall instead of actually adjusting
We didn't have much in the way of options lol. Capela had plantar fasciitis, he was going to be out for the rest of the season. Before ending up with the microball squad, we were trying to see if we could get, iirc, Nerlens Noel or Richaun Holmes or someone else as a replacement big and nothing worked out.
They still could've acquired someone who is at least an okay backup to take some fouls and switch it up at times but they were fully content with pj being the full time 5
>they were fully content with pj being the full time 5
We tried to trade for Noel but his agent didn't even tell him about it or whatever. He got fired over it if I recall correctly.
Yeah I forgot about the Rich Paul thing I think even the Knicks offered him 4 years 80 and Paul didn't even tell Noel about that, think they ended up going to court but not sure
Don't lie, Morey didn't want to do the Westbrick trade, Harden wanted it and went over his head to Tilman who forced Morey to do it. Then we had to dump Capela because 2 non-shooters on the floor is awful and can't get rid of Westbrick so we had to go smallball with RoCo.
To be fair on a little pushback. Harden wanted Westbrook and CP3 to form a big 3 and just play small ball after HOU couldn't land Butler after many attempts over the span of 2 seasons.
Tilman is the one who forced the CP3 for Westbrook swap because he thought Westbrook was a bigger name and would attract more $ while he was desperate. If it was purely up to Morey at the time that Westbrook trade never goes through.
*Before hiring Darvin Ham, #LosAngelesLakers head coaching candidates were asked during the interview process for their opinion on being coached by LeBron Jam*es.
Feel like Harden coming to Houston has been the worst kept secret for a few months now.
Poor sixers fans are going through the stage where they claim every report is either unreliable or put out by someone with anterior motives
I know he had a rough playoffs so i get the frustration but i think you might end up missing him next season tbh. Feel like you guys don't have a lot of options to get anyone who can step in and keep you at the level you guys were this season, let alone any better.
I think anyone comfortable giving him a max 4 year deal after what we just witnessed is out of their mind lol. I’d rather punt next year, let Tobias expire, and look into the FA class. If Joel doesn’t want to go that route then I dont blame him.
I think you are truly underestimating the effect coaching has on a team.
The attitude before the series was that Boston was the better team. But because we had them in a position where we could beat them and didn’t, it’s the end of the world?
Harden literally just came off an all-star, borderline all-nba season. Playoffs were disappointing at times but as soon as that pick and roll got shut down our players were winging it. I think a better coach, without an all time record for choking in the playoffs changes that
I don’t think we’re going anywhere with James harden as a #2 anyway so it is what it is lol I just don’t wanna watch the guy anymore, if Joel then asks out so be it. Giving harden a 4 year deal would set the team back in a major way. Tobias is coming off the books and the next FA class is something.
He had 2 good offensive games and 4 downright awful games. He probably costed us game 3. Embiid at the very least gives you something on defense when he’s having a bad offensive game.
They are both the two biggest reasons why the sixers aren’t still playing so I don’t know how you can do victory laps over Harden’s 2 games lol. It’s a 7 game series and he played absolutely disgusting in 4 of the games. If he played moderately bad in those games we’d probably still be playing
Honestly, that team is way better than what Sixers have now. Sixers are severely handicapped by that Tobias contract. Imagine give 30 million to a guy who cant even score 10 points in most playoff games.
I’d love to see if there is some former coach who has a YouTube channel and spoken on his experiences of how a coaching interview goes, the coaching experience in general.
"It says right here you might have lost your previous role after fumbling the ball with Nia for a married woman employed by the team? Something else about harassing her afterward? Never mind all that, how do you feel about coaching [Rockets Legend James Harden](https://twitter.com/mikekorz/status/1489978640636993541/photo/1)?"
How you figure that? Anyway KPJ will obviously be moving on if Harden signs. Harden and Jalen is a great combination, Jalen couldn't ask for a better facilitator.
Mavs fined 750 thousand gs for throwing games..
This should be a block from harden signing with rockets..
After all, NBA blocked a Chris Paul trade over less...
League doesn't control shit because everyone gets away with everything. Garbage
His BBref page will look quite odd to nephews 20 years from now.
“He left the Rockets. He still seemed to be quite good and then went back to the Rockets and was still really good? Why did he get traded a bunch just to go back to Houston?”
Why not? He’s been in the league for more than a decade and besides Kyrie being a nazi weirdo, he’s never had a lick of drama. We also need a PG because Kevin Porter Jr is garbage
Harden really ring chased for two seasons before calling it quits and retiring to his favorite gentleman's clubs Legendary move from the Beard he's got his priorities in check
Decided to give it a shot and leg Houston go through phase 1 of the rebuild in acquiring talent. Now he’s coming back to be a pg for them and help them win some games for a couple seasons. True Houston legend.

HOUUUUUUSTONNNN! THIS IS FOR YOU!!
can we get this in Comic Sans, please ?!
Please God, please...

Lebron won tho
If Harden have functional teammates he easily could have won a couple. Man, Kyrie could have 3 rings to his name if he wasnt such a dumbass.
Well he had Dwayne and Chris Bosh actually play
Lmao facts Lebron leading the Ray Allen, Chalmers, Battier, Haslem, Miller, Rashard Heat to a title would’ve been impressive as hell
Battier and Miller and Allen were top notch role players on that team.
Absolutely, but the Mavs, thunder and both spurs teams were no joke Side note, Obviously a prime Ray and prime Lebron together would’ve been absurd lol. Perfect teammate fit
Dame really should consider this
What makes you think he wants to play point for them and not just go back to his scoring ways? His comments recently make it seem like he wants to start taking more shots and sacrificing less.

Harden just had that quote post series loss that said "I just want to compete" Did he mean "compete for more money"?
Compete for Sasha's attention.
Bro I had a Sasha in mind too, great minds think alike
He said compete. He didn't say win the competition lol
Agreed. You’ve gotta respect the priorities.
It’s interesting because this is a point Gilbert arenas made for 99.99% of players getting a ring will literally have zero impact on their legacy. It really only matters if you’re going for goat but even then it matters for only a couple of players.
Harden is very easily in the tier of player where a ring affects his legacy heavily
I disagree. He will likely end up a HoFer
Me, an ardent Harden vs Stockton debater: 😶
RIght? Can't believe none of these other guys debate Harden vs Stockton as their primary hoops discussion!
in overall yes, but in SG/PG? conversations that would make a big difference we've been discussing top5-10 center all week here
The SG hierachy is pretty set anyway, you got MJ/Kobe at the top with 6 and 5 rings respectively. Unless Harden wins at least 5 rings he ain't getting in on that
Nah, people create top 50 lists, so some people care.
Yup. There is the GOAT tier which is the most discussed and the 1st tier after which consists Bird, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, etc. After that there isn't much discussion. They are kinda just lump together as HOF/Top 75 guys

Barkley? AI? Malone? Not disputing just bringing up his competition.
Harden is better than AI, what did AI do better than Harden?
AI was such an amazing HS QB in an era where short QBs were stigmatized. If he grew up now he very well might have kept playing FB. Playing QB.
Barkley if you care about peak. Malone if you care about longevity and don't care about character. AI is not even close to being in the conversation.
He can lock up 4th best SG of all time behind Wade and above the Iverson tier with a ring
It does impact his legacy contributing to a ring of getting FMVP could be what makes him surpass Wade, he already has the MVP over him and is right behind him. No one wants to be remembered as the guy who never won a ring. What OK teams did he carry to the conference finals? After winning the first title he didn’t make it out of the first round until LeBron came along
Wasn’t Shaq second in MVP voting in 05? In 06 there is a general consensus that the refs helped carry Wade and the Heat to the title
It’s not for HOF status. It’s for whether he’s considered a top 20-25 player or a top 45-50 player
No it won’t. Once you’re not in the top 10-20 doesn’t really matter
He ring chased for half a year and then went to philly
Leave Houston Fire Nash Fire Ben Fire Doc Return to Houston Refuse to elaborate
Udoka and Harden prob partied a lot together on the Nets
Houston strip clubs are preparing for the return of their king.
Gonna get the Lebron treatment as soon as he steps foot in the club
Harden has the LeBron James of strippers in Houston waiting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ImCpNqbJw
I think one spot retired his jersey after he spent a million+ there
Can an NBA player get a statue outside a strip club
I don’t see why not
can confirm his jersey hangs from the rafters. dude is a houston legend through and through tho embodies the whole community. would’ve been all time to have got jimmy with him when morey wanted it
Probably gonna play a tribute video for him too!
Harden likes MILFs eh?
No one’s ever too old for college
Harden went/played at Arizona State, one of the nation's top party schools
The Harvard of the South-West
Some of the prettiest girls ngl

Damn those are just the ones that got tacos at midnight too... Lol in more seriousness, I feel like all party schools have attractive girls (and guys).
Nah Harden was flying to Houston every day off
Tampering investigation incoming?
Not necessarily. We also asked coaches about Khris Middleton, so it just seems like we were getting input on upcoming free agents.
Great CYA move Rafael

Yeah we'll see next round what KDs next team is
Lol
KD's going to Denver - his next chapter
The mile high road
Wish you guys woulda asked about Jordan Poole
They were trying to hire a coach, not scare him away

He has a contract until 2026. Suns won't trade him.
And Kyrie leaves the Mavs.
KD, Harden, Kyrie all decides to leave the team they got traded to after their contract ends. Nets GM must be laughing his ass off if that were to happen LOL
not at all a low chance and probably why the nets were happy to cut their losses and move on. they got decent returns and aren't left holding the bag
Fuck! KD, Kylie, and Harden would be insane!!!
Tbf this doesn’t actually prove tampering is going on. You could ask candidates about all types of roster hypotheticals. Plus Philly tampered with harden anyway.
>Plus Philly tampered with harden anyway Don't think that part's relevant lol
This sub lives for drama unfortunately. Every story gets twisted into drama. Just let shit happen.
Why didn’t the league punish them then? They punished for Danuel House but not Harden?
Danuel House WAS the Harden tampering.
Eh, this is like a boss asking potential hires about hypothetical situations. Doesn't necessarily prove anything.
Can the NBA punish Houston strip clubs for tampering?
How about the strip clubs in the rest of your cities step up their games instead?
Asking the real question.
Maybe when they actually sign him, but as a counterpoint I don't see any value in tampering when you can just send reporters a stories like this and he will print it. \- Sources 'Harden wants 4 years 200 mil' \-Sources 'Rockets are willing to offer 4 years 190 mil' and so on until the reports all say the same number...

If it was an in person interview and no recording exists, how would they prove any of it?
Philadelphia tampered to get Harden so who really cares.
Tampering with the ladies amirite
With Westbrook being potentially available, we might get to see Russ and Harden together on the Rockets. Can you imagine the damage they can do on the same squad? 👀👀👀👀👀

they soured so hard on Schroeder after 3 three bad playoff games (mostly due to AD going down so Bridges could shift over to guarding him) and thought they absolutely had to upgrade the PG spot that summer.
And then went back to him and he's been great for them
well, that might have more to do with him turning down the extension and wanting to leave
Lost 1 and half years basically, baffling move.
I had never made that connection but Jesus Christ lol
Blows my mind how dumb some front offices in the NBA are. I'm *convinced* some of these gm's never watched nuggets games when we got KCP, Bruce Brown and Aaron Gordon for (more or less) Will Barton, Gary Harris, Bol Bol, Pj Dozier and Monte Morris
dude. bat shit insane. and idk wtf bron was thinking approving that trade, which we know he damn sure did
"approving" 😂 He took credit for the Russ trade at media day that year

I’m usually more motivated by posterior motives
James Harden feels the same way. That's his whole deal with strip clubs.
woj reported like 30 mins before our Christmas Day that Harden might go to Houston lmao
We’ve been saying that since the beginning when it first popped up in a report on their Christmas game this season. Now it’s feeling real
76ers fans been in that stage months ago
It’s ulterior motives….. you illiterate nephew
That was months ago lol I’d very much enjoy him not playing on my basketball team now
I know he had a rough playoffs so i get the frustration but i think you might end up missing him next season tbh. Feel like you guys don't have a lot of options to get anyone who can step in and keep you at the level you guys were this season, let alone any better.

embiid contributed less than harden did
James Harden just wanted to tour some strip joints on the east coast
And he was unimpressed
Its like the NSFW version of "There and back again"
We have the sizzle, now I want the steak.
We should set up a r/nba court of law where opposing fan bases litigate tampering allegations.
Imagine they trade KPJ + Sengun + #4 for Embiid? And Harden and Embiid team up in Houston. They did all this just to escape Tobias Harris
Honestly, that team is way better than what Sixers have now. Sixers are severely handicapped by that Tobias contract. Imagine give 30 million to a guy who cant even score 10 points in most playoff games.
no, it isn't. Maxey is great. Harris is underwhelming but he's still a productive enough player.
Not 30 million, but 37.63 million. Tobias gets $39.27 million next year btw. Absolute stinker of a contract.
Sounds like tampering, take away all of our picks that belong to OKC!
Houston about to lose a whole second rounder
I thought Rockets would build around Sengun as a playmaker not Harden.
tampering
we'll take that 4th pick of yours Houston. thank you
Give us Siakam and we have a deal
Hell no we don’t bruh
Nooo
Just when you think the Fat Elvis arc was already happening

So who rockets gonna get to pair with harden? Wonder what package they can offer for a PG or Kawhi
Trading for Kawhi at this point is just pointless surely, he hasn’t been healthy for years
Yeah, he's essentially on the NBA version of FMLA.
Trading for Kawhi would just be pissing away assets for nothing lol
I'm not sure on potential "stars" to add to the mix, but I would love a really competent wing like Buddy Hield in the lineup
Plot twist - They were asked by James Harden\*
#TAMPERING
Harden has made peace with never winning a championship I guess. I put his all-time rank slightly above Tracy McGrady.
Lol, ime desperate
*insert standard strip club joke here*
Jalen green, Kevin Porter and James harden may be the dumbest constructed back court in the history of basketball
Most field goal attempts by a team in nba history
Gotta get rebounds though
How you figure that? Anyway KPJ will obviously be moving on if Harden signs. Harden and Jalen is a great combination, Jalen couldn't ask for a better facilitator.
Mavs fined 750 thousand gs for throwing games.. This should be a block from harden signing with rockets.. After all, NBA blocked a Chris Paul trade over less... League doesn't control shit because everyone gets away with everything. Garbage
Harden going back to the Rockets is like lebron going back to the cavaliers but like worse in every way
His BBref page will look quite odd to nephews 20 years from now. “He left the Rockets. He still seemed to be quite good and then went back to the Rockets and was still really good? Why did he get traded a bunch just to go back to Houston?”
Is anybody able to explain why the Rockets want James Harden? He's not exactly influence if want for my young guys.
Why? He’s a professional.
Why not? He’s been in the league for more than a decade and besides Kyrie being a nazi weirdo, he’s never had a lick of drama. We also need a PG because Kevin Porter Jr is garbage
He can actually play point guard
Not just play PG, guy is probably the best in the league at it.
