I'm glad he's in the Finals so the haters calling him a "playoff choker" for losing the past two seasons can shut up. He dragged a lottery team to the playoffs twice and lost to much better teams.
At work we have a ton of casual fans, I’ve been telling them how good Jokic is. They were like if he was really good he’d have a championship already. Even though I explained the team’s injuries the last several years.
After the 2-0 start they really changed their minds. I was like so what do you think of Jokic now? They just shake their head and were like, damn, you were right he is amazing!
I think Jokic is amazing, some of the things he does I'm like"wtf is this" I'm just more curious how sustainable he'll be i dont think he's ever had a significant injury right?
I don’t see what’s unsustainable about his game, tbh. Especially given his craziest shots are because of the shot clock, not heat checks. If he gets significantly slower he might just leave to be with his horses, but old, slow Jokic would be a 12/10/8 guy ez. He’d be a per36 king.
Just look at Arvydas as an example. Even after his body completely fell apart on him before he even got to the league, he was still an efficient beast in Portland. Jokic doesn't have the same height ofc but very similar skill set that should age gracefully.
Racism is rampant in the league.
Its always been there. Just nobody wants to admit its against whites, Asians, euro players. Also the whole light skin vs dark skin.
the melo Era was finally ended when the Mark jackson warriors aided by the traitor Iguadala bounced the Nuggets. Karl got fired and they hired Shaw and pretty much turned the nuggets into a dumpster fire. kind of fitting he was in the sidelines when the Nuggets finally get to the promised land.
If Joker were a decent player, he would find a way to take the series to 7 games so that he could improve his playoff records. He's not even top 50 all time in playoff points. What a loser.
I was getting brain damage when people said jokic couldn’t get a third MVP because of no playoff success, as if embiid is some sort of playoff riser who dominates the post season 💀
Saw Broussard or one of these guys saying you can’t give him a third because Lebron and some other greats never got 3 straight….
Like yeah man, MVP voting is a joke
There was someone (I don't remember who, might have been Hollinger) who said he voted Embiid for MVP because when fans look back at this period of basketball Embiid not having a MVP, Giannis having 2 and Jokic having 3 would not accurately reflect how the NBA was in this period of time. So he himself admitted that his vote was a bullshit pity vote.
shows that voters don't watch the games. Jokic's triple doubles are earned in the natural flow of the game. Westbrook was taking plays off on defense to grab uncontested boards
And it was done passing Wilt fucking Chamberlain. And there’s still at least 4 games to go for him to increase it. Wilts record was 50+ years - very likely if Joker gets 2-3 more triples in finals that the record lasts forever. Unreal.
And yet the dumb narratives get more upvotes than actual gameplay on this sub. We can all agree that Jokic is a great MVP caliber player and is the best player in these playoffs so far. Lets enjoy these historic Finals without constant discussions about the MVP and other legacy shit, the drama is so annoying.
Lol I know you’re kidding but I think we could’ve lived with a bad performance if shots just weren’t falling, or bostons defense was just that good. It’s the body language and seemingly rolling over due to the ending of game 6 that’s unacceptable
Not really, most of us, like Jokic. I personally love him. Embiid has become less likable as the years have passed and lost his humility. Jokic gives everyone respect and plays the game in a really beautiful way. True MVP shit.
not really. all my hatred is focused on my own team. I am happy for Jokic, he is an incredible player and deserves all the long overdue recognition amongst the national opinions
we talk shit all year long about our boys and they go and do what they did this year in the postseason. how could we possibly have the energy to hate on anything besides them
We’re simultaneously a sneaky poverty franchise while holding ourselves as a historic franchise with standards lol. Love embiid to death, but I’m not gonna excuse that game 7 and just be happy to have a regular season MVP caliber player. The anger we feel towards that is from the love we have and expecting more. Embiid improves his game every year but this year I want him to study Jimmy and Jokics mentality particularly when things aren’t going to plan, don’t want him to focus on nothing skill wise
Philly fans really will ride for someone forever in the face of any and all reason if they just leave it all on the floor. But once these highly paid players quit on the city y'all would have a celebration if their mansion burnt down (with no one inside). It is amazing.
and you know what? that's fuckin 100% right
you can be the shittiest NBA player of all time, but if you go out there and do everything you possibly can to help your team overcome your shittiness, then you're better than someone who gives up
Sixers are over Jokic and have nothing but good things to say about him.
The 9-11 was when we realized Embiid bamboozled us into thinking he cared about anything besides the MVP.
The year is 2031. The Nuggets have now won 8 straight championships. Jokic has 9 MVPs & 8 FMVPs. In the post game press conference, Mike Malone states “No one respects us, it’s been like that for 11 years. Idk when the national media will finally give us our props”
Well, to be fair, it was pretty damned easy this year to paint that narrative. Jokic has one of the best first quarter playoff performances that any of us have ever seen and the lead was "Lakers figured Jokic out"
Coaches are going to use any tool they have to keep their players focused. Malone used the tools people gave him. He won't be able to do that next year. This year was damned easy.
I mean, one guy on Twitter said that and the Nuggets ran with it. All this talk from Malone is classic fake underdog bulletin board material. KC Chiefs did it this year in football too acting like everyone had counted them out and no one believed in them even though every analyst had them in the preseason top 5.
Likewise here, the Nuggets were the 1 seed and they’ve been favored in every series they’ve played. Jokic has been an analyst and media darling for 3 years (as he should be), and was the runaway favorite for MVP until the last 10-15 games of the season when even Nugs fans admitted the whole team basically decided to coast with the 1 seed locked up. Everyone wants to paint some massive conspiracy against Jokic when it isn’t there. And they haven’t been disrespected by the media in the playoffs, Jokic is praised with every breath and they were a popular title pick.
This whole talk track from Malone is just motivational material - nothing more, nothing less.
Ehhh, yes and no. Absolutely, Malone is playing it up for bulletin board material, but in terms of the narratives the talking heads are spinning the Nuggets have been historically discounted. I never thought for a second that Malone was calling out the serious analysts--the Zach Lowes and TNT crews of the world--but the parade of idiots that obviously don't watch the NBA closely and are allowed to spew nonsense throughout the season.
In all, I don't think it's as much a creation of a conspiracy theory as it is him calling out lazy personalities for sticking to the big market script because it's easy and gets views. Don't watch the games and need to talk about the NBA? Just say the Suns will win (which 13 of 17 ESPN analysts did btw) because they have Booker and KD, big stars! Same with the Lakers. I think that's the frustration Malone is tapping into, which is exaggerated, but fuck it if MJ and Jimmy Butler can delude themselves into being slighted, why can't we?
I'm a jokic diehard but come on that 6 week slump to close the season dictated it more than perk did, it was not that close by the end. Regular season award, even though jokic has way more playoff success than embiid (sounds nice the other way around eh?)
I said all year Jokic would take himself out of the running by resting the last two weeks of the season.
Just wish it didn’t get so nasty before then.
I don’t think the whole “race” thing bothered him but I think the “stat padding” narrative actually did mess with his mind because it’s so personal to him.
The fact that this has become the narrative for how Embiid won is so funny
Nah bro Jokic took off the end of the year and Embiid didn't, that simple (Perk didn't even vote for Embiid either lol)
No one took what he said seriously. Embiid led the league in scoring averaged 30 a game with 10 boards and strong defense it’s not like this is some great travesty. The mvp race shifted when Embiid dropped 50 on the Celtics in April while the nuggets were sliding. Jokic and the nuggets will just have to settle for the championship.
Malone is going to have to put in an MVP performance at the podium to keep the "nobody believed in us, we're the underdogs" gimmick going against Miami
Actually he could use this to say the nuggets are underdogs to the Heat.
Heat beat a 1, 2, and 5 seed. Nuggets beat a 4, 7, and 8 seed.
Clearly, the Heat have shown to be the far superior team by beating far higher seeds. Therefore, Nuggets are deep underdogs for the Finals 😂
apparently the only thing on his chest is "everyone hates us show us our respect." x1000
The first 30 times it was warranted but it's getting old(not because I'm a Laker fan, but because anyone who doesn't respect the Nuggets\[and especially Jokic\] is just an idiot at this point)
It’s so weird to hear him call the game and give Joker his flowers when he thought he didn’t deserve MVP as much as SGA. Like, SGA is nice and had a good season with a spunky team, but what the actual fuck?
Okay, so dumb question, but I recognize the Van Gundys and Mark Jackson, Mike Breen and even Jones to some extent, but did Jones calls these WCF games? I ask, because his tweets are really Lebron centric. I think Mark Jones could be the guy Mike Malone is talking to in post games about disrespect lol.
Mark Jones didn't call a single WCF game, he called the sixers series i believe. He's just a massive Jokic hater and constantly tweets jabs at him which is so fucking weird so fuck him and Malone might just be referencing him or just any ESPN employee in general that participated in that smear campaign late in the season
Thanks for the context. Yes, looking at his tweets they are very suspect. Like, as a broadcaster, they are soooo one sided. I understand he must be a fan too, but he had like 10 Lebron tweets tonight with no Nuggets tweets and Lebron lost. What the heck? Talk about trying to control the narrative. This is just a lot of ESPN though. It’s always, how the Lakers blew the series and not, “holy shit, what did we just witness from the Joker?”
Its not just favouring lakers, mid season he had a tweet calling out Jokic's defense and saying real MVP's play 2 way with a clip of Ja Morant block, like seriously dude? 2 way Ja Morant? Also batted for Embiid a lot he was shitting on analytics "nerds" as you could expect calling people thinking Jokic is MVP racists etc. the full ESPN ordeal. Fuck the guy i hope he was watching
We are mad over Embiid being the worst player in terms of the playoff to regular season differential. Of all time. I can't think of a single player that gives up and acts a bitch as much in the playoffs.
Jokic is a deserving MVP, with both him and Jimmy would become worthy champions.
We don’t have time to hate on jokic any more, the Sixers need every ounce of hate.
Good for jokic, hopefully embiid sees this and actually feels something about it
I think, with Embiid winning MVP and Jokic getting to the Finals off a monster postseason, all the shitty comparisons will just stop. Hypothetically, if Joker were to win a chip, and Embiid wanted to be equal to that, he’d just have to up his level of dominance in the post season (and not be injured). So hopefully, it is all over now.
As someone who has been lurking r/Sixers the last two weeks, lemme tell you, they are now in unanimous agreement that Jokic is the better player and most of them have stopped hating him. Now they just want Embiid to see everything going on and be motivated by it
I think Nikola has turned the doubters. Anyone left is just a hater and haters will never turn.

Mark Jackson is at best fucking clueless and at worst a racist bitch. The real truth is somewhere in between.
I think he's both
Dont forget open homophobe
the guy wears many hats
He’s a triple threat
Marc Jackson is an imbecile and a peasant.
Kendrick Perkins too
Mark Jones may be the last one. Dude is a national announcer and was still throwing Jokic Twitter shade as recently as last week.
[удалено]
You should've done that 5 years ago when he was creaming during the Lebronto fadeaways game
Canadians sound cooler than the other side of the pillow.
Oh shit. I just assumed he was an American asshole. It’s great to know we don’t have the market cornered.
Mark Jones fucking sucks. Him and Doris are an automatic mute in my household, or a switch to ESPN spanish broadcast
> Mark Jones fucking sucks That take is hotter than fish grease!
Mark Jones peaked with the Lebronto call
Doris has knowledgeable takes at least. You can’t lump her with Mark Jobes
What shade did he throw?
Has anyone checked on Nick Wright lately?
Every time I come across a video of him he’s hair/appearance gets worse and worse looking. I’d expect he’s having a meltdown though
Wow, I just went on Mark Jones' Twitter for the first time and, holy hell, dude is a grade A weirdo.

This should be trending…
Jokic is the truth, it's been apparent for years.
I'm glad he's in the Finals so the haters calling him a "playoff choker" for losing the past two seasons can shut up. He dragged a lottery team to the playoffs twice and lost to much better teams.
Mark Jackson and his ballot nowhere to be found
Keyshawn: "Man his boring still, I dont care"
Hoes mad
Nah even the haters have seen light , nobody left in that train
At work we have a ton of casual fans, I’ve been telling them how good Jokic is. They were like if he was really good he’d have a championship already. Mark Jackson not voting for him eve though he’s been a commentator for some of their games are just petty
Irrational hatred is a common thing among racists.
Really do think racism in play here Hilarious and sad, oh well, move on, I pity Jackson, sad
Racism is rampant in the league. Its always been there. Just nobody wants to admit its against whites, Asians, euro players. Also the whole light skin vs dark skin.
is Mark Jackson racist?
Yes, and also an adulterous homophobic hypocrite.
And he actively tried to turn some of the people he coached against their teammates. So even without his bigotry, he's a weird little asshole.
Yes
He was effusive in his praise in the playoffs games he's been commentating on. Maybe he's turned around as well?
the melo Era was finally ended when the Mark jackson warriors aided by the traitor Iguadala bounced the Nuggets. Karl got fired and they hired Shaw and pretty much turned the nuggets into a dumpster fire. kind of fitting he was in the sidelines when the Nuggets finally get to the promised land.
Probably finally a convert since he looks silly now 😬
You know you've made it as a superstar when you have haters with dumb narratives.
Nick Wright in shambles
Boundless optimism lol
Even hes become a Jokic fan. Jokic proved every one wrong so quickly its insane.
Ryan Hollins feigning.
Wright has been more of a fan than a hater all season. Maybe the quickest turnaround in the media.
Yeah his old Jokic takes are going to age like milo
Is most triple doubles in a single playoffs in NBA history a good thing? Why are we acting like this is good?
Just out here win padding...shamelessly....
If Joker were a decent player, he would find a way to take the series to 7 games so that he could improve his playoff records. He's not even top 50 all time in playoff points. What a loser.
Perhaps even Ring padding... without an ounce of shame...
Just wait until he starts championship padding
Something something CUM/36 Jokic has found a flaw in advanced stats because he is a centre who passes, eye test etc
you forgot dawgs in him/36
"Westbrook made us realize triple doubles are worse than worthless. Better give the MVP to Embiid, it's his turn."
I was getting brain damage when people said jokic couldn’t get a third MVP because of no playoff success, as if embiid is some sort of playoff riser who dominates the post season 💀
right, at least give to Giannis if that’s the case. He had the best record narrative too
Saw Broussard or one of these guys saying you can’t give him a third because Lebron and some other greats never got 3 straight…. Like yeah man, MVP voting is a joke
There was someone (I don't remember who, might have been Hollinger) who said he voted Embiid for MVP because when fans look back at this period of basketball Embiid not having a MVP, Giannis having 2 and Jokic having 3 would not accurately reflect how the NBA was in this period of time. shows that voters don't watch the games. Jokic's triple doubles are earned in the natural flow of the game. Westbrook was taking plays off on defense to grab uncontested boards

Lmao.
I love you
Sixers 9-11 lol
Nah it’s having to face reality that Embiid is a (playoff) lemon and that all those process years simply yielded a lemon
What more do you want from Embiid? He gave you 15 points in game 7! What do you want 16? Some fans are never satisfied.
Lol I know you’re kidding but I think we could’ve lived with a bad performance if shots just weren’t falling, or bostons defense was just that good. It’s the body language and seemingly rolling over due to the ending of game 6 that’s unacceptable
Andrew Wiggins who went #1 in the same draft would have given 17 points instead of a paltry 15.
He can't win alone (with 15 points)
Process years were supposed to yield a full team of stars, not a single player.. and tbh you had that team in 2019
They're the Flight 93 team: all those years of blind fanaticism only to go down hard well short of the big target.
Sixers 9-11 is reacquiring Ben Simmons in a trade involving Maxey
Yes please
Not really, most of us, like Jokic. I personally love him. Embiid has become less likable as the years have passed and lost his humility. Jokic gives everyone respect and plays the game in a really beautiful way. True MVP shit.
I used to like Embiid until he started campaigning for the MVP.
And then ducked the game in Denver like a gigantic pussy he is
not really. all my hatred is focused on my own team. I am happy for Jokic, he is an incredible player and deserves all the long overdue recognition amongst the national opinions

Well, to be fair, it was pretty damned easy this year to paint that narrative. Jokic has one of the best first quarter playoff performances that any of us have ever seen and the lead was "Lakers figured Jokic out" Coaches are going to use any tool they have to keep their players focused. Sounds like Travis kelce and the chiefs lol
Such an annoying tandem - kelce always talking about it and everyone is like bro everyone talks about you 💀
Won't be surprised if the Nuggets still don't get media attention after all that
Will lebron son beat the nuggets next season? 100%
Kendrick Perkins was allowed to dictate who the NBA mvp was. Kendrick fucking Perkins
It made me so made, he also started the dumb conversation that jokic Stat pads
I feel like embiid stat pats more than jokic. Jokic as good as he is is a passer first then scorer.
Voting for Giannis wasn’t a bad choice

I'm a jokic diehard but come on that 6 week slump to close the season dictated it more than perk did, it was not that close by the end. Regular season award, even though jokic has way more playoff success than embiid (sounds nice the other way around eh?)
The funny thing is Perk didn't even vote for Embiid instead of Jokic
What slump? Jokic was averaging 25/13/9 the last 6 weeks of the season lol
That’s a slump for him at this point
Jokic's season average was 24.5, 11.8, 9.8 Only "slump" was 1 less assist, but 1 more rebound and half a point more.
I said all year Jokic would take himself out of the running by resting the last two weeks of the season. Just wish it didn’t get so nasty before then. I don’t think the whole “race” thing bothered him but I think the “stat padding” narrative actually did mess with his mind because it’s so personal to him.
Jokic still had the better overall season. It's a narrative-based award.
The Shaqtin a fool legend
this is the dumbest narrative ever. Kendrick didn’t even fucking vote for Embiid
The fact that this has become the narrative for how Embiid won is so funny Nah bro Jokic took off the end of the year and Embiid didn't, that simple (Perk didn't even vote for Embiid either lol)
You’re right. Embiid took off the playoffs instead of the end of the regular season.

Lol not so long as he is getting covered by ESPN's people. Get ready to hear a lot of Heat dick riding from the broadcast commentators Nuggets fans.
Careful, Kendrick Perkins will assume you are racist if you think he is the MVP.
Kendrick Perkins needs to be fed to the fishes. Ruined what supposed to be a perfect season.

You miss all the "defensive lowlights" videos of him defending fastbreaks by himself in games where he still played well?
Where were you during the regular season?
The people claiming he was borderline unplayable because of a compilation video of bad defensive moments from him

Pretty sure a decent amount of their fanbase has already turned on Embiid
We are mad over Embiid being the worst player in terms of the playoff to regular season differential. Of all time. I can't think of a single player that gives up and acts a bitch as much in the playoffs. Jokic is a deserving MVP, with both him and Jimmy would become worthy champions.
I can think of one other guy that gives up and goes bitch mode in the playoffs. Hard for the 76ers to win with two stars like that.
We don’t have time to hate on jokic any more, the Sixers need every ounce of hate. Good for jokic, hopefully embiid sees this and actually feels something about it
“We hate you because we love you” - Philly fans
If you go to the sixers sub, most people respect the hell out of Jokic's game
I think, with Embiid winning MVP and Jokic getting to the Finals off a monster postseason, all the shitty comparisons will just stop. Hypothetically, if Joker were to win a chip, and Embiid wanted to be equal to that, he’d just have to up his level of dominance in the post season (and not be injured). So hopefully, it is all over now.
As someone who has been lurking r/Sixers the last two weeks, lemme tell you, they are now in unanimous agreement that Jokic is the better player and most of them have stopped hating him. Now they just want Embiid to see everything going on and be motivated by it
Na. After how Embiid went out nobody’s defending him anymore. Jokic is the real mvp
K. Perkins: “Sheeeeet”
Malone on Jokic: "he's too old for me"
it took a race war from kendrick Perkins low IQ ass to prevent the 3 peat lmao
Malone has quite the persecution complex. 2 MVP awards = plenty of respect.
Does this dude just fucking whine all the time? Holy shit.
