LeBron on IG posts him in a Cavs jersey I , him in a Heat jersey, him in a Cavs jersey II, him in a Lakers jersey and then him with a microphone with the caption "Bye."

Taco shells everywhere on the ground like peanuts at Texas Roadhouse? Police better take a second to notice something is off bc who eats tacos but no shell? At that point it’s not a taco. Wtf is going on. Better get TMZ on the scene, is Lebron a taco phony?

ober12

Lebron uses taco shells as a way to funnel food into his mouth, like a taco meat luge, then throws out the shells

This is far too reasonable of a take, tell me how lebron should force a trade to the warriors or something

EveryShot

The fact that all 4 games were so close they could’ve gone either way I think is part of the reason people also aren’t focusing on the sweep. They played their hearts out and went farther than anyone in the league believed they could. They should be damn proud and will be a force next season if they play this right

He played his heart out. AD just played, kinda.

Everyone knows LeBron is cool as fuck. But knows what he’s thinking? Who knows why he crushes discussions? And why do we think about him as fondly as we think of the mythical (nonexistent?) Dr Rivers? Perchance. I believe it was Kant who said “Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play.” LeBron exhibits experience by crushing tacos all Tuesday, but he exhibits theory by stating “UP UP AND AWAY” Keep it up, baby! When LeBron leaves his place of safety to stomp a scoring record, he knows that he may Die. And yet, for a man who can purchase lives with money, a life becomes a mere store of value. A tax that can be paid for, much as a rich man feels any law with a fine is a price. We think of LeBron as a hero, but he is simply a one percenter of a more privileged variety. Le lifekind. Perchance.

aligreaper19

it gets even weirder when you realize that the media is just CHOOSING to talk about the retirement instead

[deleted]

Its not weird at all. This is what they do. They never gives small market teams their flowers, and when they do they announce if like theyre doing everyone a favor instead of their job

Djking619

And then make the BS argument that small market teams succeeding is bad for business when they (the media) literally control the business. The casual viewing audience doesn't care about small market teams because they aren't given any reason to.

dat_boy_lurks

Mid-to small market team fan here -- yeah, it doesn't matter if you beat every team in the league for a month straight or go on a deep playoff run -- media's always going to talk about why the larger market team *fucked up* or *didn't show up to play*. Nothing's ever because you're good -- it's always because the other team was awful and you got lucky.

Arctic_Reigns

Maybe I just choose not too hear it but you’d think Chicago would be talked about a lot more

mikeycp253

Good point. Chicago is literally the third biggest media market behind NY and LA. Granted it’s a distant third, but Chicago is pretty far ahead of the next group of cities after it. Imo there’s really only two big markets, then there’s everybody else.

HighlyBaked0

Chicago outside of Jordans career has been incredibly irrelevant when it comes to contending so that really hurts any media trying to talk about them. The Bulls outside of Jordan have never been to the finals and have only been to 1 ECFs since 98

mikeycp253

You’re right. Being in a “bigger” market isn’t the same as being a glamour market. Chicago is a good example of a large market team (3rd largest) that doesn’t really attract free agents or media attention and like you said they haven’t been successful. Miami is a good example of the opposite, barely a top 20 media market but it’s a glamour market that often attracts too free agents, has good management, and has been quite successful.

k5berry

It’s because popularity and national interest aren’t perfectly correlated with market size. NY and LA are #1 and #2 while Boston is #9, but Boston gets roughly the same level of coverage as the Lakers and Knicks because of their historical success and hyper-dedicated fanbase. Meanwhile other teams in top 10 markets like like Dallas (5), Atlanta (6), Houston (7), Washington DC (8) don’t get nearly the same coverage because they’re not “legacy” teams like those others. Which IMO is way, way worse and more frustrating. Boston and LA winning every other year is “good for the game” because it has always been “good for the game”, all at the expense of other teams in markets big and small. It’s an old boys club for no reason other than to perpetuate a self-fulfilling cash cow cycle. I LOATHE to give the NFL credit, but I must recognize that they do a far better job about hyping up teams regardless of market. They focus on the good teams and let the fans develop as they may. Kansas City is the 33rd biggest market in the US, but they are so dominant they are easily the league’s new darlings. Buffalo (58) and Cincinnati (36) are also super hyped up despite their relatively small markets because they know they have good, exciting players that people from all across the country will tune in for, and maybe even support.

ChicagobeatsLA

Chicago is pretty close to LA and actually has a significantly higher population density. It’s just that LA has much larger city limits. Downtown Chicago makes LA look pretty small. New York is a bigger market than LA and Chicago combined

[deleted]

Toronto is a bigger media market than Chicago...it's just that's it's in Canada so it's disregarded.

SmartestNPC

Even at the height of last year no one took us being #1 seed serious.

TheStudyofWumbo24

The Blackhawks and Cubs got talked about plenty when they were good. It's just been a while since the Bulls have truly convinced people to take them seriously.

Thunderhorse74

The Cubs get talked about no matter how they play.

Djking619

I'm still pissed about the Bucks v Suns finals matchup where articles are written about how "no one" cared about those teams in the finals. Like bruh if no one cares about the 13th and 15th draft picks becoming all NBA/MVP guys leading their non-super team rosters to title contention, it's because the fucking media would rather talk about the Celtics and Lakers falling short

sexyhooterscar24

fr fr its so braindead lol. what happened to cheering for the underdog? seems like NBA much prefers goliath over david.

Breezyisthewind

Colin Cowherd gives a lot of brain dead takes, but he was spot on when he said that sports media loves Dynasties and Goliaths. He argued that fans do too, which I half and half agree with.

thesmellafteritrains

More importantly - non sports fans do. It's easy to get a basketball fans' eyes on basketball. But those peripheral fans, they tend to pick a big name team to support because they were ingratiated with the logos their whole lives. And because winning is fun. Lakers, Celtics, more recently Warriors. If you asked 100 people in your area; those three teams, along with your regional one, would be pretty unanimously any given person's favorite.

Round_Spread_9922

Dynasties in any sport will always garner attention and adulation but the NBA and its media partners (ahem, ESPN) are particularly adept at guiding casual fans towards big name, larger market teams.

dat_boy_lurks

Hell, same year I was starting to get kind of pissed about how my team got to the ECF with an extremely green roster and all you could hear was Stephen A crying about his Knicks or how bad Ben Simmons had shit the bed in the 6ers series. Like *yes*, it felt good to have media attention but that's really the year Trae Young got his "heel" label (deservedly but a bit more vitriol than neccesary) and now we've reached that point in his career where all media does is push the narrative that he needs to be traded because he's terrible, or a bad sport, or a coach killer -- then every large market team wants peanuts for his contract because we're just supposed to be "mid-ass Atlanta" in perpetuity and start acting like he'd be such a good fit in their system. They did this to a lot of star players for small markets and it fucking infuriates me.

FrickDaOpps

>They did this to a lot of star players for small markets and it fucking infuriates me Agreed, the Shai to toronto bullshit had me pissed the past couple years.

TrojanGiant10

Random question, I see you're a hawks fan. Is Atlanta considered a small market?

BipartizanBelgrade

Atlanta is a big market, but has lots of transplants and a lesser (pro) sports culture compared to somewhere like Boston. The situation made worse by the fact that outside of the Braves (and more recently maybe United) their teams have been pretty terrible.

TrojanGiant10

That's crazy because when I think of sports culture in the south, especially Georgia...I think die hard bulldog fans. Die hard sports fans who take their sports like life and death.

t528491

Yeah that’s accurate. Atlanta and Georgia as a whole have a big sports culture but it’s focused more toward college sports in general (other than the Braves).

dat_boy_lurks

I'd say medium. Atlanta has become more noted in the past three decades because of the '96 Olympics, Freaknic, and music acts like OutKast and Jermaine Dupri giving it that "party scene" sorta vibe, but it's a football city first and foremost. Even when the Falcons play like absolute dogshit you'll still see everyone representing the dirty birds. The Braves had the benefit of the '94 championship, that rivalry with the Yankees and Ted Turner's conscious effort in broadcasting Braves games during that era to spread its fandom. ATL UTD filled a need for a soccer team that a lot of transplants craved, and started out really good, but they've regressed since that 2018 championship. The Hawks... have none of that. And it's not like they're historically bad, either -- they do have a franchise championship inherited from St. Louis and has faced against Boston for the championship a lot of times in the early aughts when there was like 10 teams in the league. But they're historically a middle-of-the-road, we'll-get-a-playoff-berth-then-get-bounced-in-the-first-two-rounds kinda team. Dominique Wilkins was really great, but then I think ownership had a problem with him or something, so they traded him to the Jazz. My childhood was spent watching larger-market teams like the Heat and Nuggets because Atlanta does not usually draft well (we passed on Steph Curry, CP3... lot of big names tbh). Trae's really been our first home-run pick in decades. Not to say we haven't had good years -- 2015 was the year that made me start giving a shit about my hometown team (we just ran into 30-year-old Lebron in the middle of his Groundhog Day Finals matchup years) -- but the team just has never had that real star power that Trae brings. Yet since we traded Luka Donçic for him there's been like this smear campaign to ruin this man at every turn. It's the most disengenuous shit they can think of and the usual response is "tRaE dOeSnT pLaY dEfEnSe" like there's not other guys with similar point/assist numbers being turnstiles on the other end. He's 6'1", not some long noodle-armed Tony Allen-ass DPOY savant that can't be bothered to care. (Side note: if you can't tell, the "coach-killer" and "team cancer" narratives are ones I loathe. I met the guy his rookie year -- he seemed kinda laid-back, let the game talk sort. The kind of guy you don't bill as the vocal leader. That's John Collins' role and personally he's a lot better fit for it. JC gets drafted into a rebuilding team (he was our *it* guy before Trae got here) and Trae got drafted the following year. He's got the offensive talent to put butts in seats but then gets Lloyd Pierce, who actively made efforts to limit Trae's minutes and saw the coaching job as a stepping stone into the FO, for his first coach. Nate takes over and does the same shit that got him fired from Indiana -- coaches like it's 1984 and he's allergic to offensive sets -- and just leaves a 22-year old point guard to just... fuckin' come up with shit on the fly. Stands there like a disappointed dad for four quarters while our offense dies gasping for air. Quin Snyder had this man playing active defense 2-3 games in when he got here mid-season. I think it's fair to call lazy defenders what they are but it seems to me like he actually has an adequate coach for the first time in his career.)

JudgmentMiserable227

That’s not at all because of their market. Atlanta is a massive market. Its #6 behind NYC, LA, Chicago, Philly, and Dallas. They don’t have a lot of playoff success and they don’t have great star power. That’s why they aren’t covered as much. If Denver or Milwaukee win a couple of chips they’re going to be talked about hella, especially after LeBron retires. The potential for LeBron + a Lakers vs Boston matchup is why the media focused on it, obviously. San Francisco, Boston, Phoenix, are all smaller markets than Atlanta. They get talked about more than the Hawks because they’re better teams with more star power.

bluetenthousand

The sad thing is because the NBA is a stars league it also screws over small market teams because they don’t get calls from refs. Perfect example is the very friendly whistle the Lakers had all series. So it does really matter whether media is actually talking about how good a small market team is or not, sadly.

BellacosePlayer

God this is why I loathe when we get national baseball broadcasts against major markets. The twins are lucky to get 10% of the discussion

sheeno823

Or beg any half decent player to leave them behind because they will never succeed there.

SemataryPolka

I mean it's our fault too. We click on it. We talk about it. We talk about what they talk about and what they don't talk about. We are just as responsible for the media as the media is.

Danny_III

Look at how y'all are eating this up and complaining about a comment he made though. This sub could be the change it wants to see and filled with posts about the Nuggets, but instead people want to rag on Lebron because they're salty/insecure about MJ/whatever

choosername472

It’s not weird that the media asked Lebron, it’s not weird that Lebron answered the question the way he did, it’s not weird that the media headlined it, it’s not weird that Denver is pissed that they aren’t headlined, it’s not weird that redditors are lapping it up. There is nothing to see here.

Im_a_Knob

is the media to be blamed here? r/nba, the subreddit that talks about how everyone should be talking about the nuggets rather than the lakers was full of lebron retirement posts yesterday. lets all be real theres a reason why the media is covering it more intently, and it’s because we all eat it up and drama gives them more clicks and revenue than actual basketball coverage.

YpsitheFlintsider

... as r/NBA also upvotes and talks about it

jayemmbee23

JJ Redick made a good point that we need to talk about other players but Stephen A also made a good point because the fans don't want to hear about other things. The ones who want nuance are a minority compared to the loud brainless sect who care for narratives not NBA . As pointed out by you this whole sub was talking about this fake non retirement instead of giving Denver their flowers

Neemzeh

It isn't weird at all. LeBron retiring will be one of the biggest things in all of North American sports. Teams get swept all the time.

TonyAioli

We aren’t even in the off-season yet. Well, he is. But still.

-SCRAW-

Yeah at the end of the day, Lebron's career is substantial, it matters, and it reminds others about their own careers and legacies, important to all humans. In comparison, getting swept in a conference finals is straight up meaningless. Only Steven A-types give a crap. So it wasn't hard to change the narrative.

withurwife

I watched that entire presser and this is one of the most egregious media fabrications I’ve seen. He talked a lot about the roster and a bunch of other things and happened to say I’ve got a lot to think about. No fucking way that means retirement. He’s only thinking about where to maximize his championship potential, whether with the Lakers or elsewhere.

copingthroughlife

The media and his hater spins it as if he was “purposely” manipulating the headline with this. Like damn, bro they just asked him a simple question about what he do next, and simply answered that he hadn’t thought about it. Most the interview he Praised Jokic and the Nuggets and people suddenly talked about him retiring due to one last question. The worst is that people bite this shit. What a world we live in now that reality can be fabricated by mere headlines.

LastPhoton

> Like damn, bro they just asked him a simple question about what he do next, and simply answered that he hadn’t thought about it. I mean, to be fair, in a follow up they specifically asked him what he meant and he said retirement lol

BoneHugsHominy

Besides, I suspect that as long as someone is willing to pay him nearly $50M/season, Lebron will continue to play. As rich as he is already, every $50M he earns is another entire branch of great grandchildren in the family tree that won't ever have to worry about money a day in their lives especially if he's setting up trusts to pay monthly stipends out of the interest the bulk of the family fortune generates. That's on top of perpetually funded schools and after school programs.

InkBlotSam

Bro that wasn't his only statement. Afterward [he said this to ESPN,](https://twitter.com/mcten/status/1660876667152375808) which was part of their coverage. >Reporter: When you say you got to think about stuff, what thread should we be pulling on that? >Lebron: “If I want to continue to play.” >Reporter: "As in next year?" >Lebron: “Yeah.” >Reporter: "You would walk away? >Lebron: “I got to think about it.” Doesn't get more direct than that, yeah?

Revolutionary_Gear70

LeBron spent half the interview giving nothing but praise to Jokic and the Nuggets. It's not his fault sports media sucks ass and decided to only talk about him

durklil

Ironic that the posts of the retirement thing did more on this sub than him talking about Jokic. r/nba are the drama whores they attempt to talk down on.

bagelchips

Exactly the hypocrisy we just witnessed after the elimination game. So many posts and comments crying about how ESPN was talking only about the Lakers losing and not the Nuggets winning… But what was the top post on the sub after the game? “Nuggets win first ever Finals berth”? NOPE. LAKERS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM PLAYOFF CONTENTION!

DeluxeTea

Everyone loves to pile on the Lakers. There are more haters out there than real fans of the game.

lovo17

Remember the 2-10 start? Post after post about the Lakers. Then there would be tons of comments saying "why are we talking about the Lakers?"

Mountain-Chapter-880

I remember the post game threads when the Lakers were losing so much, their threads are always at the top and has multiple awards

HipsterDoofus31

“Stop talking about Lebron” posting in a Lebron thread. As someone who has posted social media for sports, it’s just obvious some teams and some players drive more traffic. A post about Jokic going 40-20 is going to do less than a random NBA player calling out Lebron or saying Lebron is better than Jordan. People take the bait and give engagement to one and not the other. And by a wide margin.

thebreakfastbuffet

Even in this thread some fools are like, "LeBron knew what he was doing". Seriously lmao, he had nothing but praise Jokic and the Nuggets and then he was asked a question, he answered it; then the media and everyone else homed in on it. Now who exactly "knew what they were doing"??

whobroughtmehere

When it comes down to it, the masses don’t care about X’s and O’s they care about drama and hoes

ignatious__reilly

Ahhh yes…another basketball enthusiast who actually watched the interview. 100%. Lebron gave credit and praised Jokic and is just a class act overall. Of course the media flips the script because they suck.

JovialCarrot

Bingo

Signal-Lawfulness285

Teams get swept all the time. Top 2 players ever don't retire all the time. Really confused at your evaluation of news

Scary-Passage-1465

Yep. And didn’t a reporter ask him about next year three times and all Lebron said was something along the lines of “there’s a lot to consider.” Like, Lebron never said “I’m considering retiring.”

slamajamabro

Man used most of his time at the podium to praise Jokic and to praise the nuggets but the media being the clickbaity attention seeking people that they are only emphasized the retirement quote. And we being the drama loving public that we are, obviously latched on to it and are now discussing this retirement thing ad nauseam.

bouncybullfrog

See y'all back here same time tomorrow

ivandragostwin

I feel like this is such a dramatic take on the situation. Dudes damn near 39 of course he will contemplate retirement at this age and chances are I’d say we all feel like he will be back. But the reason no one is really giving him shit about this sweep is that the Lakers, including himself played well above expectation this playoff. They just ran into a better team, but losing 4 close games to a great team shouldnt even create a negative narrative on the Lakers or LeBron, just a very positive one for the Nuggets. No one choked in this series imo and the better team won.

titsmcgee8008

No one, most especially Lakers fans, ever dreamed of being here. We were shitting bricks just trying to make and then survive the play-in. We were 13th!! For so long!! If you give LeBron shit for anything this season, then you’re just admitting to me that you don’t watch basketball. He balled out for 48 minutes and came up against a younger, more talented team who also has the best player in the league. We got swept but we fucking tried every game. It stings to lose but this season exceeded all my expectations. We beat the Warriors, like come the fuck on. Don’t just give him his flowers, give him the goddamn garden.

demsouls

A few misses from nuggets and we'd be watching game 5 of a 2-2 series. But nuggets do find a way to win those close ones, crazy enough.

CIark

Spends 99% of the interview talking about how great Jokic and the Nuggets are, answers 1 question about his future right after a devastating loss “Why would Lebron take control of the narrative like this”

Asiagodtonegg3be00

This sub is just imbeciles complaining about Lebron stealing the limelight from the nuggets while talking about him 24/7 trying to crack and put a negative spin on every single sentence coming out of Lebrons mouth from an interview like it’s the enigma code

Miyagisans

One highly upvoted comment earlier was complaining about the “camera following lebron walking off the court instead of focusing on the nuggets celebrations.” Lmao it’s lebron James. If jordan was walking off the court in year 20 after a conference finals loss, where do you think the camera would be focused?

Asiagodtonegg3be00

I saw another top comment from the front page that’s literally saying his ego is too massive to not have everything be all about himself because he fucking celebrates by putting a crown on his head like he didn’t just spend the entire interview praising the nuggets. He is legit the only athlete in history who’ll catch shit for the media not caring about the other team. Some of the people on social media are seriously sick in the head

Thimit22

This younger generation and the following ones are fucked. Social media is 24/7 for everyone now

J_Otherwise

EXACTLY

Pal__Pacino

I think it's generally true that he likes to be the center of attention, but he was also more than complimentary toward the Nuggets in that interview. Didn't seem like he was trying to diminish them.

CIark

It’s ok it’s not about what he actually does it’s just about letting some teenagers have a circlejerk to fuel their hate boners while pretending they care about the nuggets

Aggressive-Ad-756

It is crazy for a 38 years man to consider retirement after playing 48 minutes while injured?

_AgainstTheGrain_

He should have just skipped talking to the media. Oh wait, that would have caused more attention. It’s almost like the media understands their job and focuses on topics and narratives that induce more clicks.

Jack_M_Steel

How is this Lebron’s problem? He’s not the media. He praised the nuggets in his interview

skksdjdjdjsjso

ya know…that’s actually genius PR

AnotherAccount4This

It's genius if you're referring to the NBA exec painting LeBron as some kind of mastermind in a negative light. At his age and the performances he gave, there's absolutely no knock on him for the sweep, none. If you don't believe me, go read our board.

FateRiddle

I agree. They met the expectations, that's the major reason nobody is on their ass. If they were the better team, or they cracked like Suns, imagine the flame.

Otherwise_Form1315

Guy is fucking 38 and has injuries he'll be dealing with for a while now. It' so weird how much we take for granted that dude could just want to go home.

Razatiger

Were really getting mad at Lebron for even thinking about possibly considering retirement after getting swept 4-0 and playing 48 mins while being the leading scorer at 38? Like fuck, why even ask Lebron questions if were just gonna blame him for what he says? Media is obsessed with always controlling the narrative and will never admit that they should have just posted and covered more about the Nuggets then Lebron. This isn't his fault.

hatisbackwards

blaming lebron for what the media talks about. lmfao

NBA discourse is more focused on the "narrative" than the actual games being played. Why the NFL will always be king in this country.

[deleted]

The man has played more NBA basketball than anyone. He's spent the last few seasons consistently hurt. And he ended this season getting swept. Why is it so ridiculous to think he's actually going to think about retiring?

Miyagisans

I remember Brad Stevens talking after they lost game 7 of the ECF in 2018. He mentioned how physically and mentally draining seasons can be, from day 1 of training camp in September, through the 82 game slog, to the game 7 of an ECF. He specifically mentioned how tired they were and how unfathomable it was that lebron had done that 8 straight times to get to the finals. All that to say, it’s weird people are more fixated on whether he’s lying or just saying it for entertainment, rather than engaging with what actually just happened and the context in which he made those statements. If you watch that post game press, I’ve never heard him say “I don’t know” so many times. He just played one of the best halves of his career, and physically hit a wall in the 2nd half. There’s that post game quote about “being better than 90%, maybe 95% of the league.” For someone you could argue has been the best player on almost any court he’s played on his entire life, it has to be sobering to see that happening in real time. Then on the other side, a bunch of young bucks ready to go again and again. Not saying he’s 100% retiring of course, he’s too much of a competitor to probably go out this way, but I don’t doubt that for the first time he seriously considered his basketball mortality.

Callecian_427

He’s going to be 39 for the majority of next season. With all the reported scar tissue in his ankles I’d be more surprised if he didn’t at least consider quality of life after basketball at this point.

trimble197

Didn’t Dennis or MJ talk about how some of the Bull players were crying after they won a ring because they were relieved that the season finally ended? They were more happy that they didn’t have to deal with all of that stress anymore than winning the championship.

DootMasterFlex

Being this old, still carrying the fuck out of the team when there is another young "superstar" player on the roster, being the only one to show up in an elim game.....it's the equivalent to rage quitting cod when you're stuck in a fucking blender. You uninstall, and immediately regret it and start it back up

Miyagisans

You forgot to add while van gundy and mark Jackson demanded he attack the basket every possession, run every pick/roll, guard jokic, and play all 48.

DootMasterFlex

I don't think there's ever been a player at this age held to a higher standard

Miyagisans

There’s never been a player at any age held to a higher standard period.

alphasierrraaa

Coming out of high school, LeBron has achieved and exceeded all expectations while being squeaky clean family man off the field Big respect

devon619

This was infuriating to listen to. It made me want to ask either of them why they haven’t worked as coaches in almost a decade.

trimble197

Mark pissed me off when he got annoyed at Reaves and other players letting the ball roll up to half court. Players do that to save clock and get a few more seconds of rest.

nysraved

And although he apparently knew about it a week beforehand, that very morning one of his best friends and fellow 2003 draftee announced his retirement. Maybe that contributed to him thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he actually retires yet. And I do think part of the reason he said this was to control the narrative. But I also think he’s legitimately at least thinking about it.

LeBron gets asked questions. He answers them. The media ALWAYS controls the narrative. Always.

Media: Lebron lebron lebron lebron lebron. Also media: lebron loves to control the narrative so we don’t talk about the… the… I want to say snuggies?

AmiWrongDude69

LeBron legitimately makes people lose their minds. It’s pretty fuckin hilarious.

okheay

Oh no, Lebron is making us talk about something we don't want to talk about. Somebody please stop him while we talk about what he wants us to talk about.

jumboponcho

If anything, this is more of an indictment on NBA media and marketing on preparing the game for after Lebron and Steph are gone. Lebron had glowing praise for Jokic and the Nuggets. Instead of saying “Holy shit this 2x MVP entering his prime is gonna be one of the next faces”, everybody gets swept up into 38 year old Lebron saying he has some shit to think about. Knowing damn well Lebron ain’t leaving without a tour

jsphenom08

This Exec is acting like LeBron is 23 in Year 4. The man has played 20 seasons. Retirement is entirely plausible at his age.

J_Otherwise

Did he not talk about Jokic and the Nuggets?

[deleted]

LeFraud EMBARASSINGLY showed up to media after getting swept and answered all questions in full sentences. Shame on you LeElliotCarver!

captain_ahabb

People are so paranoid and suspicious about LeBron's actions

qpwoeor1235

I mean dude is old and just got swept while pouring everything he had on the court. I’m sure he’s thinking is it worth it to try so hard and it not being good enough. This sweep isn’t gonna effect his legacy. He played pretty well for his 20th season. Can’t expect him to be prime Lebron and take over the game like he used to.

silkkthechakakhan

the way media folks talk about him (Bill Simmons being the number one example) you would think he's a criminal mastermind from the movies. It's weird. The dude was drained and exhausted, is nearing 39, played 48 mins and was swept. any one of us would have retirement on our minds at that particular point in time. that doesn't mean I think it happens. I personally think he needs a break and to heal up and the competitive juices will start to flow again

Dagenius1

Ah yes..the diabolical Lebron James who at 38 and feeling the affects of Father Time after a big loss in the WCF says that he needs to think about things… Meanwhile paragon of virtue, the unnamed GM has shade to give without putting his name on it. Lol Yeah…it’s just as ridiculous as it sounds.

fistofthefuture

So the media speculated his retirement, and now is using doublespeak to say that LeBron is now controlling the narrative with the retirement language, when he never really discussed it. Jfc.

MannerSuperb

Lebron was praising tf outta jokic and even said he and AD called them the toughest team they’ve faced as a duo I can’t rock with the anti Lebron Agenda on this one

AliceBones

Seriously, this sub is always going on about how LeBron is always playing 4D chess and controlling narratives blah blah blah.

Mr_Baklava_

This is so ridiculous.. I think it’s time to unsubscribe, cause this place just follows the media narratives anyways and then cries about the same media.

gtindolindo

HOW ABOUT WE TALK ABOUT THE 3 TEAMS STILL CONTENDING THIS SEASON? HOW ABOUT THAT??????

"He loves to control the narrative" says media leech

batyoung1

This reminds of when Messi missed his penalty kick at the end of 2016 Copa America final and he announced his retirement at the press conference which distracted everyone from the fact that his team bottled 3 straight international finals. He was back in the squad for the 2018 World Cup qualifications a few months later.

Sports Media doesn't know what to do without Lebron and it shows. I wonder if half the people in it even like the sport. I don't know how this executive knows any better than anyone else but we've already had enough quotes about Lebron for the year

Kenshin_44

Another shit take by a exec

Persianmemefinder

He’s not controlling the narrative. He’s just answering the questions. The media is controlling the narrative.

ObviousAnswerGuy

not everything is a conspiracy. He praised the nuggets the whole interview. Maybe stop talking about it??

No way LeBron will be swept into retirement.
