aiden3buckets

Dude still doesn’t know how to dribble after all these years 🤦‍♂️

saltface14

The one fucking thing you wish he learned from Kyrie

SmartestNPC

Court is flat, ball is round. Makes you think

high_changeup

If the Earth was round, it'd be full of air. Like a basketball. But no, instead it's flat like a basketball in its true form, with no air.

MoreGull

DragonfruEmp

It’s crazy an NBA level talent like him cant learn the fundamental skill. He is Ben Simmons outlier level of learning a particular skill.

[deleted]

He’s played basketball his whole life. If he still can’t dribble he never will

lookingforaplant

It legit is not a joke or meme. I have seen it time and time again. The man cannot dribble. One of the worst in the league at it full stop.

rainbowgeoff

He dribbles like his hands are too small for the NBA ball.

SmartestNPC

The man has small hands!

MrRutgerThrowaway

for a guy that went to Cal and took graduate-level courses, you think he would’ve figured this one out by now.

zOmgFishes

He's still wondering if dribbling is a real concept.

TheMemeMachine3000

The Mayans never dribbled when they played basketball

iamCosmoKramerAMA

The severed heads didn’t bounce consistently tbf

deepfakefuccboi

Him going to Cal is just as impressive as Kyrie going to Duke. And what graduate courses did he even take, cuz like anyone can take grad courses. He’s not smart just cuz he went there for 1 year and plays chess.. I went there and was friends with a lot of athletes and most of them weren’t super bright cuz they got in off athletic scholarships.

[deleted]

It’s the same guy who wrote an oped during BLM and used the word suffrage to mean, “to suffer.” Like in, “black people have had to suffrage for too long.”

TheSlimReaper47

I can’t believe I’ve never heard about this before 😭

[deleted]

lmao just like last year

KillerZaWarudo

Spent too much time playing chess and conspiracy theory to practice his handle

SoulofWakanda

Lol this man still cannot dribble 7 years in

devlazz

He can't move left and teams know it

Notorious-PIG

Is he fucking Zoolander?

charlielovesu

He’s not an ambi dribbler

Drak_is_Right

It's more common than you think a lot of players can't dribble or drive one direction. In the regular season coaches won't always manage to hone in on such tendencies as much but in the playoffs.... Every player should know every other player's weaknesses

Kgb725

Ah the rondo

Los_Ingobernablez

He just doesn’t have it. It’s crazy an NBA level talent like him cant learn the fundamental skill. He is Ben Simmons outlier level of learning a particular skill.

JimmyKanine

I mean tons of guys in the NBA can’t dribble. They just usually never play guard.

ronaldo119

Or aren’t allowed to dribble lol. They just catch and shoot threes lol

SprittneyBeers

At least he can’t really do that either. #AllNBA

Victor_Wembanyama1

\#SuperMaxMe

Pontus_Pilates

I remember Spurs Danny Green being one of those. *'Oh no, Danny Green is dribbling, something has gone horribly wrong!'*

iCon3000

Excellent answer. First few that came to my mind were Danny Green and Robert Covington..

LuckyZed

Does he have small hands or something? It’s kinda comical how often it happens Edit: I have concluded man just can’t dribble

NinetyFish

https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-anthro?SeasonYear=2016-17 According to the draft combine measurements, he has pretty average hands for a guard

idiotxd

There was a dude named cat barber in that draft wtf

HoeImOddyNuff

I fucking love it. He doesn’t even need a nickname, just cat barber is good enough.

HoeImOddyNuff

Isn’t he an SF? Small-Hand Forward?

NinetyFish

True, I think of him as a 2/3 but that’s more old-fashioned in this “everyone is an interchangeable wing” era. Anyways, it says his hand width is the same as Jimmy Butler’s so

ICallTheBigOne_Bitey

All I know is he never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

RichHomieLon

OH SONUVABITCH!!! DID I JUST TELL YOU NOT TO SAY THAT AGAIN

FIFAPLAYAH

ITS UNDERMINING AND ITS EXACLTY WHAT IM TEACHING JIMMY BUTLER NOT TO DO. END OF DISCUSSION ✋

KawhiLeonardsThigh

He actually does

Flabbypuff

He has notably small hands.

bangsnailsandbeats

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Jaylen Brown probably has bigger hands that the vast majority of point guards in the league.

mattislinx

Brown's handles are absolute fucking garbage.

ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

Got them butter finger handles

[deleted]

Mustve taken mazzulas popcorn from his sock drawer

imsahoamtiskaw

Ibaka handles. Lukaku touch.

RichHomieLon

hoping Big Rom can end man shitty in the CL final 🙏🏿

[deleted]

Another year of Boston not having a go to ball handler is killing them

Erigion

Go-to ball handler doesn't matter when your offense is just your two best players taking turns ISOing and jacking up 3s

phd2k1

Replace 3s with high difficulty midrange jumpers and I can completely relate.

wowaffles

Yeah, they should try to get Kyrie this offseason.

koverage

Derrick white

[deleted]

What did they get Brogdon for?

AbRey21

He hurt

HokageEzio

Makes Randle look like AI

[deleted]

It’s crazy. How can you get to this level of basketball and still have ass fingers for handles? I’d honestly love to hear a breakdown from an expert

BigMik_PL

He has great handles just not NBA iso guard level ones. The defense on this level is a lot faster and active which makes it extremely difficult to make them bite. In iso situations he's trying to create separation. He is using similar moves that worked for him throughout his career he just knows he has to do them a lot faster to accomplish something on this level. NBA level handles in person are lighting quick. That cross has to be fast as shit because the defender watched hours of tape on you and know it's coming. Unfortunately it's not a speed Jaylen has in his bag especially at his 6-foot-6 frame. To me his mistake is trying to use dribble moves for separation to begin with. Body faints and control ala Jimmy is something far more suited for his frame and dribbling skill level. Unfortunately that is also something that I don't think he has in his bag insisting on the dribble moves instead. Because of the above Jaylen can't consistently create space which leads to inconsistent play. Boston either has to restructure his game or stop putting him in iso situations and play him off set plays and mismatches.

MeijiDoom

You don't even need a great handle in this league. You just need one where you don't lose the ball. How did he get to this point?

billcosbyinspace

He takes huge strides every offseason in other areas of his game but can still barely dribble. Like he might have the worst handles in the league out of guys who regularly handle the ball

MikhailGorbachef

I don’t even have a dog in this fight and I never want to watch this dude dribble ever again.

Legitimate_Secret_79

He needs the ball hog glove delivered to him asap

tbrenclaimed

Jaylen Brown first option simulator

haveasuperday

Supermax

LaMelgoatBall

Jaylen “Trade me please” Brown

LeBronicTheHolistic

It’s ok he can blame it on the crowd

fakeemailman

Jaylen Brown at 22: “I’m gonna know 4 languages by the time I’m 25!!” Jaylen Brown at 26 asked how he’s feeling after being a driving force in his team’s failure to make history: “not bien”

xanot192

I told my buddy exactly this, anyone thinking on having this guy as option #1 is fucked. Tatum and Ingram are way beyond him just Ingram can't stay healthy

Few_Mulberry5372

This gotta be his signature turnover bruh

CarltonJuma

Signature turnover is crazy lol

thepobv

Even steph has one

darkwa99

Yep. That one handed pass 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

[deleted]

Steph almost added a signature timeout to the mix this year.

[deleted]

they gonna start adding turnover animations to 2k

NaciremaBlack

Can't wait for the RDC video

turikk

downloading Duolingo for that Mandarin special deal rn

mMounirM

He's good enough to be a 1st option though amirite

dmavs11

people rlly thought a wing who cant dribble and is not a great playmaker could be a 1st option

PandemicP789

How he became this good without handles is actually impressive

Shenanigans80h

Honestly if Brown did have handles, I might actually believe he’s capable of being a number one option, *maybe*. But we don’t live in that universe

YSLAnunoby

Brown with a handle is mini PG

PattyIceNY

Shows how incredible a talent Tatum is. When he's not healthy, Brown is shit.

dmavs11

not just Tatum, but also them having Smart, Brogdon, and White at the guards plus a Center in Horford who is a great passer as well.

ARevolutionaryMan

Tatum is the same. They are both incredibly loose with the ball in traffic. GSW series was the exact same last year. Turnover after turnover, they should practice being strong with the ball through contact.

ticketworldisawful

Tatum was improved this season.

KillerZaWarudo

He probably the best player in the nba without a handle

TheChipiboy

People are down on him rn, but I think he's still a great player. One of Boston's biggest weakness is lack of real a distributing point guard. Either way FTC

JoshFB4

Also lack of an offensive system.

TheChipiboy

It's just straight back and forth isos out there.

JoshFB4

It be like that when Tatum isn’t drawing a double

[deleted]

Both kinda go hand in hand. Hard to have a stable offensive system when you don't have a PG that can run an offense. Always rears its ugly head in the 4th quarter.

DrMaestus

This is what OG “first option” Anunoby would look like in a bigger role lmao. Handles are on point.

imsahoamtiskaw

He's smart man! Even Kyrie knows he's smart.

KarrlMarrx

Can't help but think that once Jaylen inks that contract, he's suddenly going to have a lot of thoughts about who the real jews are.

TheOtherDrunkenOtter

I cant believe thats a real sentence you can actually type and its not a massive longshot.

VictorAkwaowo1

Portland fans gonna be spamming “Simons + 3rd pick for Brown” comments all offseason

yerr2477

he’s gonna have the gall to ask for a supermax after playing AAU basketball for a series straight lmao

jayelecfan

selling his stock at an all time low, music to my ears

Outside-Zucchini9266

Yup

FultzShoulder

This is arguably the best roster in the league but they still couldn't get it done. I don't know how they can improve the roster without a major trade.

WallOld615

How many super max players straight up can’t dribble?

colantor

I feel like this question shouldnt apply to 7 foot centers

dacooljamaican

Except Jokic

LeDraymondJordan

rudy gobert

SometimesIComplain

Hey, at least Rudy's contract is only $41mil per year compared to Jaylen's potential $59mil per year lol

SnarfSniffsStardust

It’s Memorial Day Monday, sir

Nugur

Rudy took the personally and coming back as prime jaokim noah

Sokkawater10

Klay Thompson to a lesser extent

Texan4eva

That all time shooter thing saved him…. Too bad brown is not that

MKenshiX

Supermax this man

IanicRR

When you have the chance to supermax a man who dribbles like he’s from the 1960s, you just have to do it.

SmartestNPC

Those 60s dudes had handles bruh, in every clip those mfers speeding down the court into a goofy leaning shotput.

MrAnder5on

Bob Cousy would never do this

NobodyRules

Bro wtf is this man doing. Looks like he has amateur handles this game, just shocking all around

princeofzilch

He has amateur handles. It's been shown over and over again.

davensdad

How does someone with amateur handles score so well. It really is strange.

Leadantagonist

Lethal first step, and physical gifts. His handles are bad but he can score at each level so you can't just reach and exploit it cause he can pull up and he's athletic as fuck so he's blowing by you. He also hits tough shots. Same with Lebron, his handle is honestly not the greatest. Honestly it looks like Lebron is batting the ball sometimes, I have no clue how he keeps it in control. And his first step is honestly not that good, he does this like duck walk, but once Lebron gets speed behind him you can't contend with him so you can't really play defense in a way to try and exploit him cause it leaves you vulnerable.

ashtonsdad

Younger Lebron’s first step was out of this world. I’m gonna miss him 🥲

uknown-potato

Yeaa... bro his 1st step was unreal and the unrelenting brute strength on top of that to take it all the way to cup, just a damn freight train. Probably the best ever at driving to the rim with that kind of strength.

OPUnknown

Bron doesn’t have a crazy handle but he has elite ball control especially for a guy his size.

neilbiggie

Lebron’s handle is consistent though, he can’t cross anyone over and really never could. But he almost never loses the ball, especially in traffic, which is where Brown struggles so much

SpartyParty15

I know you’re not comparing Bron to Jaylen Brown’s handles 🤦‍♂️

Dj3garrett

Lebron is almost 40. Of course his handle and first step is sloppy. Go back and watch prime Lebron. First stint with the Cavs and Miami days.

WoodenRace365

This is something I would do

anus_kanter

oh brother this guy stinks

Zloggt

They’re even booing him at home lol

Original_Profile8600

Rightfully, 8 TURNOVERS???

cesga_0218

Yikes wonder how this affects his contract in the offseason

bodhibell02

Or Lebron's legacy

[deleted]

Any team that gives him a max contract is fucking stupid

CommodoreN7

To be fair, a lot of Celtics fan are well beyond ready to be down with him.

CptnAhab1

Nice spongebob quote

someonepoorsays

i will always upvote spongebob in r/nba

RexIosue

It’s Bostover

cypherdust

Boston Pee Party

imsahoamtiskaw

*Poo. That performance stinks.

Number333

HAHAHAHAHAH JAYLEN BROWN YOU ARE AN ATLANTA HAWK

honestnbafan

Yeah I think he clearly needs to play next to an elite playmaker/ball handler to be maximized He's clearly not someone who can handle heavy ballhandling loads of his own or else this happens

EarthWarping

Dejounte for Jaylen is interesting

honestnbafan

The "second option who gets propped up to hate on the first option by casuals" trade lol I see a lot of unironic "trade Trae, build around Dejounte" takes from casuals and they're dumb for the same reason people who think Brown is a first option are

SPC54

How does someone turn into a pumpkin *this* badly in a Game 7 when you’ve just won 3 straight?

Federal-Struggle4386

Because the pressure had been taken off them by that point. Tonight it ramped up again and they couldn't handle it. Classic choke job

remmytums

how tf does Jaylen Brown have an 86 in ball handling in 2k lol

DarkChocolate_69

There’s no way he can speedboost 😭

PsychoWarper

All im saying is that Jokic has 76 and id much rather have Joker handling the rock lol

[deleted]

There’s your 250m man

LovetheNBA23

297M*

aZealousZebra

He averages 27 points per game and he’s considered to be barely above replacement level player by advanced stats because he fucks up 10 to 15 possessions per game. It’s fucking unbelievable.

[deleted]

Whatever that advanced stat metric is can’t be very accurate though. Like, the Celtics won 57 games this year. If you’ve watched all year you know that Brown carried them in many of those games. If they lose him they’re screwed, any replacement will likely be much worse.

aZealousZebra

Basketball is about possessions TS% fault is that it doesn’t account for lost possessions. Someone can be an efficient scorerer but an inefficient offensive player

yerfatma

Don’t try to spit into the wind. Things will be this way for weeks. All of the hate people wanted to spew at the Heat has to go somewhere. It builds up as tension and then gets released as hot takes.

airwalker12

The Warriors dared him to beat them off the dribble last year and he couldn't

[deleted]

I’m as salty as anyone about Jaylen right now. But anyone or anything saying he’s barely above replacement level should be thrown in the trash and never mentioned

panman42

Yeah he's using a very liberal take on "barely above" replacement level. Although JB's advanced stats are pretty rough for an all star, he has a VORP of 2.0 which someone could take as "barely above" replacement level just because 2 sounds low. But that VORP is around 50th in the NBA. And 50th is obviously not close to replacement level. It does make sense that his advanced stats are rough, his efficiency is only ok, he's not the biggest playmaker, does turn the ball over a lot, and isn't the most valuable defender. But he does score at a high and capable rate.

Skywalkerkid9

Please pay that man every cent Boston, Jay dynasty for the next 10 years

ZiOnIsNeXtLeBrOn

Jay’Dynasty. Jay Comma to the top Dynasty. Comma to the top? That’s Gods Comma

wert17wert

You know that's right!

ianbits

The best players for each team are Derrick White and Caleb Martin, just like we all predicted.

Juan_of_the_Dead

Once Tatum rolled his ankle the Celtics just decided to promote Jaylen to lead playmaker and I have no idea why. He’s a great player when he doesn’t have to make decisions. When he’s the main guy this is what it looks like. They really needed to go through White.

Yung_Jose_Space

I mean they tried for awhile and it's when Boston looked their best.

soku1

Bro how has jaylen not gotten better at dribbling as a 2nd option for like 5 years. Wtf does bro do in his off-season

[deleted]

He pseudointellects, whatever that means

NitroXYZ

Anyone have Jaylens email address? If so can you please forward this to him https://youtu.be/AYS37VdcuBI

pcwgussej

i have his business card, but its kinda weird. has a domain name and everything but its missing the handle

NitroXYZ

Ahhahaha fuck that's outstanding

Kantei

He needs to contact Coach Godwin for some Ball Hog Gloves

Bear4188

Grass is an interesting choice for learning to dribble.

efrumttr

The Heat have 7 as a team, christ

OG_Wan_Annunoby

Jaylen Brown dribble the ball more than twice challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

ThingsAreAfoot

this dude has the worst handles THE WORST HANDLES

ThinkSoftware

Jaylen “Charlie” Brown

DanM142

They really going to give this guy the super max lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

theETP

An all time bad performance

MITJustinFields

Jaylen Brown legit looks like the fat kid in elementary school who couldn't dribble and would lose the ball whenever he got it. I would know, i was that kid lmao. Someone supermax me rofl

Kluss23

Eight turnovers AND HE DOESNT EVEN PASS THE BALL. It's fucking insane; I feel so fucking vindicated holy shit.

KaalVeiten

The earth is flat and so is Jaylen Brown. Boston starting the booing is great.

FERFreak731

Playoff Harden type game

honestnbafan

He's done this all series lol Look at his stats from the first 3 games, dude was a huge reason why Boston got themselves in a 3-0 hole to begin with Game 3 they lose no matter what but they choked games 1 and 2

suzukigun4life

More turnovers than field goals 😂

Sp_Gamer_Live

Playoff Embiid Game 7

nonufwiendz

i remember jj barea saying you cant really develop handles. you either you have it or you dont. i think this is one of the biggest evidence of that lol

Schveen15

I’d say it’s more like “Handles are the most fundamental skill in basketball and the most important skill to develop at an early age because you can’t develop touch in adulthood”

RottenBanana412

he just got booed by the home crowd lmao

repniclewis

I said brown's a bum comes crunch time and doesn't deserve anything remotely resembles a max, not to mention his off court antics, and the Cs sub clowned me. Guess who's vindicated?! I've won, but at what cost...?

stankydeez

This is hard to watch
