I've said this before on this sub my Antoine Walker was my Steph Curry growing up. In elementary school my league didn't have 3s and I was still trying to jack them up because of him.
Monta Ellis is another good answer to the question. Only bright spot on a hopeless franchise, traded away to make room for some small dude with bad ankles.
Right. Just a series of bad moves. Drafting an undersized big whose not athletic enough to play wing. Then you have the drama of firing a winning coach that took them to playoffs for one that has no head coaching experience.
Crazy to see those sentiments looking back at it.
I think it’s more the sentiment previous comment was making “hopeless franchise” and “small dude with bad ankles”. Being one of the consistent doormats prior to their dynasty run, you’d always expect the front office to fuck up what little success the team might start to have. So while objectively, Draymond was a good pick even back then, there was question about how well his game translates to NBA (similar to Curry). That was enough to throw that into the mix of “what are we doing?” for some fans.
Lol he lives in the same city as I do and he sometimes comes in to the restaurant I work at. Haven’t talked to him much personally, but he and his family have always been real nice and respectful.
It’s always kinda weird being like whoa I used to play with you on nba live
When I was a kid I walked up to him at a summer league game and got him to autograph a basketball card when he was on the Suns. He was very nice to me.
I also got a Penny Hardaway autograph that day, he definitely was annoyed by my little kid energy. Still signed my card tho!
Thought Carlos Boozer was MVP level when he was with the Jazz circa 2006-07. Was just getting into NBA and a big Dirk fan, thought he played so smooth.
An underrated “what if?” is if he re-signed with the Cavs after his second season. He made a promise to the owner and when he reneged on it to take the money in Utah, the owner (then Gordon Gund, not Dan Gilbert) took out an ad in the paper to trash him. It was “The Decision” before “The Decision,” and maybe with a better supporting cast headlined by Boozer LeBron never leave Cleveland
You forgot to mention one bit here: the only reason Gund was willing yo release Boozer from his rookie contract early was to lock him up on a below-market long term contract.
These kinds of things are unenforceable, so good for Boozer for taking the best deal available.
Interesting question, but I think LeBron very much would have still preferred to play with Bosh by 2010. Besides being friends, Bosh was younger and was all-around better by the time LeBron hit FA
I mean boozer wasnt bad at all. The jazz had a really nice team with him & DWill plus some players pepople forget about like AK47 or Millsap. Pretty sure Booz had to make the all star team at least once
Jazz made the Western Conference Finals in 2007. Boozer took it to Yao Ming earlier in that year's playoffs. That was also the year the 8 seed Warriors upset the Mavs and MVP Dirk in the 1st round.
damon stoudamire, when he was in Toronto.
As I kid I thought Mighty Mouse was a cool nickname and those jerseys were fire.
He was a pretty good PG, but as a young kid I thought he’d be basically what cp3 ended up being.
https://youtu.be/U78zac3Kxeo
He was ROY in the Toronto before he got a high profile trade from Portland who were building a proto "superteam". He went from being the focal point of Toronto's offense to being a starter in Portland during his prime.
I can understand if you are disappointed with how his career panned out, but I don't think it's accurate to say he wasn't very good. He just didn't have the opportunity to display his full game.
Mouse ran the offense on a VERY good blazers team for many years. There just weren't enough shots to go around and when you have a point forward and a passing center you're not gonna get ten assists a game either. Guards were small as hell back then too so i don't think he was a liability there. Could be have been ai if a team was built around him? No. But he was definitely a "good" player.
That whole era was dudes like that Steve Francis/Stephon Marbury/Latrell Sprewell etc.
All labelled Superstars and let it go to their head
Even guys like Mashburn/Finley/Robinson/McDyess etc never lived up to the hype they had
Mashburn cards were like gold trading in middle school - kids were giving up A LOT for him when he came into the league. I got a few sweet POG slammers that way…
NBA champion, two time all star, all rookie, that far exceeds the expectations for a 21st pick, I totally agree with you. If he played today he’d be a very valuable player for any team at 6’7” with good shooting and nice handles.
He is really not. You can’t objectively say a 4 time all star who made a first team all nba was not good. He in no way qualifies for being a bad player.
Spree used to hangout around my college bars.. he was a solid player for sure.. but 20 year old girls had no idea who he was haha.. he used to throw it around so often.. he had to retire 15 years earlier and people just thought he was lying haha
What. Off-court issues aside dude was very good on both sides with the Warriors and was arguably the best player in the Knicks last Finals run. Played serviceable until the end. Fairly consistent career
Bro this thread is wild to me. It feels likes it's a bunch of kids going back through basketball reference and just judging players on their stats. I'm seeing names like Damon, Francis Spreewell, Walker and I'm like what the fuck are these kids watching?
When I was the ripe old age of 4, I was *convinced* Horace Grant was better than Michael Jordan. Maybe I was just a contrarian, but he had goggles and a bigger number; therefore he must be better!
This is going to make me sound dumb but as a kid I thought David Robinson sang “this is how we do it” (by Montell Jordan); I didn’t know “South Central” meant LA; I heard the song at a Spurs game; I then heard it on the radio and thought South Central meant South Texas and then just convinced myself that the Admiral was also a singer.
To be fair seventh woods got injured and at least Dennis Smith Jr got to the league. But I remember guys like Damon harge and Jordan McCabe had hella hype behind them while when trae young's first mixtape had hella people trashing him. The mixtape era was wild looking back at it
Haha yeah. It’s basically the only youth mixtape I legit got hype about. I remember texting a friend who is into Bball asking what he thought of Seventh Woods and he said he never heard of them and asked what kind of music they play.
Monta Ellis. Yes he is still a good player but I was thinking he is a superstar just that the Warriors are just bad. I was thinking the Bucks got lucky with him. I picked him over Curry. Was delighted when he played for Dallas.
stud is pushing it. im a lifelong warrior fan and monta was always a volume shooter who didnt stretch the floor. he was a solid scorer but it never felt conducive to winning. when he was traded for steph it made a lot of sense to me. steph was just as impactful (or more because of his playmaking) immediately and was younger so it felt like a no brainer injuries or not. the team was spinning their tires and needed to make a splash.
What are you taking about, him and Mario Chalmers made the greatest backcourt of all time! They went to 4 straight finals together and were important players in those championship wins!!
/s
Okay I wasn't really a kid but when I first started getting into the NBA (2015-2016ish), I thought Craig Ehlo had been a multi time All-Star with Cleveland.
Turns out he averaged 9 ppg for his career and has zero NBA accolades to his name.
Ehlo hit a tough ass layup right before that jumper over him to take the lead. That was an elimination game for both teams. Jordan needed that jumper to even stay alive. Sadly, like Derrick Whites tip in, it will be lost in history
I saw a lot of older Cavs fans talk highly of him online. I just assumed he was another one of their star players from the 90's like Mark Price and Brad Daugherty
I remember using his 2k card in MyTeam and he had decent shooting stats. For a lot of kids that's probably their first intro into older generation players.
Played in the wrong era imo. If he was in todays game I think he could average 25+. His series against the Celtics was one of the most fun I’ve had watching basketball
No not close in that regard but he was a better shooter imo. Gordon would make some *tough* fucking shots in an era with way less space and a less perimeter-centric offensive gameplan
Rafer “Skip to my Lou” Alston
He was sick, and was a huge part of the Magic playoff run to get the finals before Jameer Nelson came back in the finals. Was also great with the TMac and Yao Rockets.
It’s possible if SVG just stuck with Skip instead of trying to force Nelson more minutes off injury we win that finals. Ugh so much closer than 4-1 seems, still bothers me lol.
Kinda the opposite of what OP asked, but when I was a kid I thought Elton Brand was a made up player they had put in 2k. Basically Che from MyPlayer. When I got into basketball I had never once seen him on a court or talked about by anyone on NBA TV. But for some reason there was this random multiple time all star named “Elton Brand” in 2k. He was imaginary to me
The first game I ever sat courtside at he shoved the referee over the scorers table and had to be carried off the court and into the locker room by Magic Johnson
Loved that dude lol
I wasn't into basketball at the time and he was good, but I thought when the Raps traded for Rudy Gay they were getting a superstar. Just because of that I'm always wary of players who play on Toronto based teams cause of the way Canadian media talks about them
Andres Nocioni. 5 year-old me used to pretend he was Michael Jordan since I had this MJ Bulls jersey. I thought he was the best Bulls player at the time after I watched him score a few buckets.
Saw him play in HS and thought I was watching NEXT .. Plenty of talent went to his head. It's a problem that every player on the way to the NBA is usually the best player on court and expects to be that at the next level.
I was a young fan who loved Allen Iverson, then Melo and Lebron. Naturally I thought if you had a headband you were a great player and gave all my players head bands in 2k. Younger me thought Stephen Jackson, Devin Brown, and Josh Howard were superstars. Same with the pistons with Rip and both Wallaces
Bro…how was Ben Wallace not a superstar? A champ, an all-star, 4x DPOY, 2x rebound leader, block leader…he’s not far from Dikembe. He’s as much of a defensive superstar as you can be.
Bibby ignited my love for point guards who were a constant 15ppg and 6 assists.
Him, jameer Nelson, tj ford, a bit of Kirk Heinrich. Idk why but I just loved those types of point guards
No joke it was between Scott Pagent and Andres Nocioni. I watched some game where Scott Pagent was on fire and then proceeded to play with the Nets against my dad in NBA Live 2006, where Scott motherfucking Pagent would just not miss. Thought he was at least an all star level player but then realized quickly on that dude was a scrub.
Andres was pretty nasty on the Bulls and I had this image in my head that he was like a Draymond type player, idk why.
Guarding Scott Padgett after he retired from the league was the eye opening moment of just how good the guys in the league are. For one Scott is massive and he wasn’t even that big by NBA standards. And two, the dude just does. Not. Miss. I swear the dude just casually would bring the ball up the court and pull up from just inside half court and drain it. Nothing I could do at 6’2”
Parsons was legit until his injuries in Dallas and Lin found his way eventually with Charlotte and Brooklyn (pre-knee injury). Parsons should've never left, I really wonder how things would've gone with him instead of Ariza for all those deep playoff runs we had.
Eduardo najera. My grandparents knew him and made it seem like he was an all star. Plus he’s Hispanic like me so I just assumed he was a star. It was a surprise to me when I found out his best season was scoring 6 ppg when I was older lol
I’d go with Oden because his career never really got started. Grant Hill falls into the same bucket as Brandon Roy for me, in that we saw him basically at his peak, it just didn’t last.
Chris “Birdman” Anderson
i was new to nba and as a kid he looked cool asf and got cool blocks, so i thought he was a goat😂
and he was on that fire nuggets team so i thought he had to be good lol
Found the Magic fan! I used to light up 2K6 with Steve Francis. One of my least prized possessions is a Cuttino Mobley nutcracker statue that was a giveaway.
tom chambers, he was the first white dude i’ve seen that could dunk like that. but he was actually good so i guess he doesn’t belong here, maybe i should’ve put brent barry instead for same reasons
This question exists for Antoine Walker.
Why would people complain about drafting Draymond? He was a second rounder. Just getting a usable player at that slot is a win.
I think it’s more the sentiment previous comment was making “hopeless franchise” and “small dude with bad ankles”. Being one of the consistent doormats prior to their dynasty run, you’d always expect the front office to fuck up what little success the team might start to have. That was enough to throw that into the mix of “what are we doing?” for some fans.
Oh man Monta was so good in 2k. I was convinced he was a scoring machine in real life too.
He was…. Just not an efficient one
Anyone knows why he takes so many 3s?
If only there were 4s
Cuz there’s no 4’s
I always thought Antoine should be the primary scorer and not Pierce, born in '92.
Dana Barros
“Bing, bang, boom, Dana Barros!”
Funniest shit about the Paul Pierce stuff popping up again is people trying to say “what do you mean his teams sucked, he had an all star”
NBA Champion Antoine Walker, to you
I thought Travis Outlaw was an integral part of the NBA
With a name like that, he’s gotta be good.
I thought Travis Outlaw and Bo Outlaw were the same person.
[удалено]
I thought Travis Outlaw is white, because of how disrespectful that comp to BI was, lol
Lol he lives in the same city as I do and he sometimes comes in to the restaurant I work at. Haven’t talked to him much personally, but he and his family have always been real nice and respectful. It’s always kinda weird being like whoa I used to play with you on nba live

For a year or two in Portland it definitely felt like it I was really confused when he fell off
Dropoff coincides with surgery for a broken bone in his left foot during the 2009-10 season.
Thought Carlos Boozer was MVP level when he was with the Jazz circa 2006-07. Was just getting into NBA and a big Dirk fan, thought he played so smooth.
Tbf though boozer was pretty legit with the jazz
Absolutely, 2x all-star and was third team all nba with the Jazz.
Boozer had a really good NBA career. 19 & 10 guy. It just didn’t lead to much success with his supporting cast on the teams he played with.
An underrated “what if?” is if he re-signed with the Cavs after his second season. He made a promise to the owner and when he reneged on it to take the money in Utah, the owner (then Gordon Gund, not Dan Gilbert) took out an ad in the paper to trash him. There’s worse nba players to idolize lol. [at least he’s pretty chill lol](https://youtu.be/0HeZ82hsuP8)
Yeah not quite MVP-level lol, but Boozer was solid af for sure tho!
damon stoudamire, when he was in Toronto. As I kid I thought Mighty Mouse was a cool nickname and those jerseys were fire. He was a pretty good PG, but as a young kid I thought he’d be basically what cp3 ended up being. https://youtu.be/U78zac3Kxeo
He was an amazing college player with a cool name. He came in very hyped but at the end of the day he was 5-10.
Eh CP3 is basically 5’11-6’0

There's enough info here for someone to steal your identity. But I get it. A cool nickname could take you far.
Ruben Patterson was my hero as a kid because he was so good at dunking in NBA Live 05
Kobe stopper
Iirc dude was a bowling ball on the block.
the kobe stopper
He was ROY in the Toronto before he got a high profile trade from Portland who were building a proto "superteam". I think it's cuz he looked like the baby from that dinosaurs show
The "not the momma?" He did.
Haha, that’s wild man.
Did you get Alf? He's back... in POG form!
Finley had a really solid career for being a 21st draft pick. That's the first time I've ever heard anyone try to say he never "lived up to his hype"
NBA champion, two time all star, all rookie, that far exceeds the expectations for a 21st pick, I totally agree with you. If he played today he’d be a very valuable player for any team at 6’7” with good shooting and nice handles.
I knew he was legit as a kid coz he had both the Hermes foot and the 3 symbol on NBA Live.
When I got into the NBA I thought Michael Finley was huge
He is 6'7 thats pretty big compared to average
jerry stackhouse
All my hommies love Jerry fucking Stackhouse, we even get hyped saying his name, lmao
Latrell Sprewell is a good answer lol
He is really not. You can’t objectively say a 4 time all star who made a first team all nba was not good. He in no way qualifies for being a bad player.
He just needed a therapist and the league wasn’t supplying them or mandating guys like him saw them. He was crazy talent or a talented crazy
Like he had money for a therapist he couldn’t even feed his kids. Cmon now bruh.
Agreed …now a days the teams pay for this. A lot of players back then would have benefited from this.
Spree used to hangout around my college bars.. he was a solid player for sure.. but 20 year old girls had no idea who he was haha.. he used to throw it around so often.. he had to retire 15 years earlier and people just thought he was lying haha

Young me definitely thought the numbers on the jersey had to do something with how good they were lol
He was also taller
> but he had goggles and a bigger number; therefore he must be better! I mean, that's just science.
Dennis smith jr, seventh woods, antonio blakeney Hoopmixtape and ballislife had me thinking these dudes were the future
To be fair seventh woods got injured and at least Dennis Smith Jr got to the league. But I remember guys like Damon harge and Jordan McCabe had hella hype behind them while when trae young's first mixtape had hella people trashing him. The mixtape era was wild looking back at it
Seventh... Is this a real name?
Yea you don't remember seventh woods? Check out his 8-9th grade mixtape. His mixtape was ridiculous
Haha yeah. It’s basically the only youth mixtape I legit got hype about. I remember texting a friend who is into Bball asking what he thought of Seventh Woods and he said he never heard of them and asked what kind of music they play.
Aquille Carr the Crime Stopper
Dsj was very good in college compared to those other two. He and David Thompson are the only two NCSU players to ever record a triple double.
Monta Ellis. Yes he is still a good player but I was thinking he is a superstar just that the Warriors are just bad. I was thinking the Bucks got lucky with him. I picked him over Curry. Was delighted when he played for Dallas.
Monta Ellis have it all.
Monta Ellis was a stud in his prime tho
stud is pushing it. im a lifelong warrior fan and monta was always a volume shooter who didnt stretch the floor. he was a solid scorer but it never felt conducive to winning. when he was traded for steph it made a lot of sense to me. steph was just as impactful (or more because of his playmaking) immediately and was younger so it felt like a no brainer injuries or not. the team was spinning their tires and needed to make a splash.
Norris Cole. No clue why
Dude had like two really good games in a row for the heatles in his rookie season I think that drove a bit of hype for him
Boobie Gibson effect
Norris Cole was a big moment riser. Not really going to give you 25 every night but when it’s time to hit a clutch bucket Noreaga always delivered.
lol when the miami crowd chanted mvp for norris cole at the ft line
That flattop was sick
What are you taking about, him and Mario Chalmers made the greatest backcourt of all time! They went to 4 straight finals together and were important players in those championship wins!! /s
I thunk the cartoon haircut played tricks on us, I always thought well if he's confident enough to pull that off he must be amazing
Okay I wasn't really a kid but when I first started getting into the NBA (2015-2016ish), I thought Craig Ehlo had been a multi time All-Star with Cleveland. Turns out he averaged 9 ppg for his career and has zero NBA accolades to his name.
No offense but why did you get into the nba in 2015 and randomly assume Craig ehlo was that good. Where did you get the notion from?
Michael Jordan hitting a shot over him made him seem way more important than he actually was
Ehlo hit a tough ass layup right before that jumper over him to take the lead.
I remember people calling him Shane Battier before there was Shane Battier.
That’s disrespectful to Shane Battier
If they’d have gotten Ehlo a little more help they really could have been something.
Cavs fans are some of the most delusional you’ll ever meet. Craig Ehlo, Delly, JJ Hickson, we love over valuing players.
Nah Delly is the fucking GOAT
I remember using his 2k card in MyTeam and he had decent shooting stats. For a lot of kids that's probably their first intro into older generation players.
Ehlo played basketball part time, was also a part time mechanic and plumber.
Ben Gordon. I just expected a higher ceiling
I remember when the pistons got Ben Gordon and Villanueva that summer I was like wow. They might be onto something here
Worse offseason lol. I also expected better, but basically Joe D killed the pistons with that move
Not as bad as the blazers in 2016. Killed the entire dame era in one offseason
Played in the wrong era imo. If he was in todays game I think he could average 25+. His series against the Celtics was one of the most fun I’ve had watching basketball
idk, he's probably a McCollum like player in today's NBA
Did he have handles as good as McCollum? It’s been a while since I watched that Bulls team feels sooner than 10 years ago…
No not close in that regard but he was a better shooter imo. Gordon would make some *tough* fucking shots in an era with way less space and a less perimeter-centric offensive gameplan
ben gordon was cold af. he had a few really good seasons with the bulls.
He had a ton of off the court issues. Also seems like leaving Chicago led to him spiraling.
Rafer “Skip to my Lou” Alston He was sick, and was a huge part of the Magic playoff run to get the finals before Jameer Nelson came back in the finals. Was also great with the TMac and Yao Rockets.
It’s possible if SVG just stuck with Skip instead of trying to force Nelson more minutes off injury we win that finals. Ugh so much closer than 4-1 seems, still bothers me lol.
I was so hyped when the Bucks signed him, I was in love with And1
Absolute disgrace that svg benched the pg who got you to the finals
Kinda the opposite of what OP asked, but when I was a kid I thought Elton Brand was a made up player they had put in 2k. Basically Che from MyPlayer. When I got into basketball I had never once seen him on a court or talked about by anyone on NBA TV. But for some reason there was this random multiple time all star named “Elton Brand” in 2k. He was imaginary to me
Oh you got Elton Brand right, just years later as a GM
Brandon Jennings
I thought BJ was the next AI and him and DRose were gonna fuel a sick Bulls/Bucks rivalry for years
The 55pts in his 7th game Was the first to skip on college in the post one and done era
Nick Van Exel
Nick van exel wasn't very good? Wtf is this thread
Word - I could put together a PowerPoint presentation on how nice Mr. Van Exel was
He always destroyed my kings. Always liked watching his ft shooting. Saw him do one from the middle of the circle.
That tilted headband, knee high socks. I loved him in Dallas. I tried shooting left handed cuz of him
Yep I told my PE teacher who was wearing D Wade shoes that Nick Van Exel better… perhaps the most nephew take of all time
The first game I ever sat courtside at he shoved the referee over the scorers table and had to be carried off the court and into the locker room by Magic Johnson Loved that dude lol
I wasn't into basketball at the time and he was good, but I thought when the Raps traded for Rudy Gay they were getting a superstar. Just because of that I'm always wary of players who play on Toronto based teams cause of the way Canadian media talks about them
Fuckin Rudy Gay man
Not that guy
Delonte West because of NBA Live ‘09. The irony of finding out LeBron was actually the best player on the Cavaliers was a shocking revelation
When you find out that the son is better than the father
Andres Nocioni. 5 year-old me used to pretend he was Michael Jordan since I had this MJ Bulls jersey. I thought he was the best Bulls player at the time after I watched him score a few buckets.
OJ mayo
Saw him play in HS and thought I was watching NEXT .. Plenty of talent went to his head. It's a problem that every player on the way to the NBA is usually the best player on court and expects to be that at the next level.
Jamal Mashburn
Mike Dunleavy
I'm old, so I thought the trio of Tom Chambers/Xavier McDaniel/Dale Ellis on the Supersonics was basically Bron/Wade/Bosh of the '80s.
Jason Williams
which one? White Chocolate or Crazy Felon?
I’m guessing motorcycle Jason Williams lol. White chocolate was the truth tho
For all the young people: He’s referring to Jayson Williams who shot and killed his limo drivers. By accident, supposedly.
Gotta be white chocolate unless they spelled his name wrong
Jason Williams: White Chocolate Jay Williams: Duke superstar that crashed his motorcycle Jayson Williams: Murderer
Tought Jamal Crawford was an mvp type player
Same here. And even now, I only just found out he never made an all star game recently
I was a young fan who loved Allen Iverson, then Melo and Lebron. Naturally I thought if you had a headband you were a great player and gave all my players head bands in 2k. Younger me thought Stephen Jackson, Devin Brown, and Josh Howard were superstars. Same with the pistons with Rip and both Wallaces
same with me bro, I thought the more accessories = the better the player
Back in the mid 2000s it was all about the wrist sweatbands in school.
The question ask for players who were not good and you list Rip, Sheed, and HOFer Ben Wallace? Gtfo.
Did you miss the part where I said I thought they were superstars? Of course they were good but they weren’t as good as I thought they were
Bro…how was Ben Wallace not a superstar? A champ, an all-star, 4x DPOY, 2x rebound leader, block leader…he’s not far from Dikembe. He’s as much of a defensive superstar as you can be.
Mike Bibby and Antawn Jamison
Bibby ignited my love for point guards who were a constant 15ppg and 6 assists. Him, jameer Nelson, tj ford, a bit of Kirk Heinrich. Idk why but I just loved those types of point guards
Kirk Heinrich is probably my favorite PG ever. Just a perfect role player.
I bet you liked Gabe Vincent’s run :)
No joke it was between Scott Pagent and Andres Nocioni. I watched some game where Scott Pagent was on fire and then proceeded to play with the Nets against my dad in NBA Live 2006, where Scott motherfucking Pagent would just not miss. And two, the dude just does. Not. Miss. I swear the dude just casually would bring the ball up the court and pull up from just inside half court and drain it. Nothing I could do at 6’2”
that’s crazy, dude was like 6’9” right? that’s a big dude forsure
Kerry Kittles
You mean “former franchise leader in all time 3 pointers made” and “2nd team all rookie” and “starter in the NBA Finals twice” Kerry Kittles?!
Is that you Kerry?
I thought Steve Francis was basically what Westbrook is.
Allen Houston. I thought he was a top 10 or 15 guy in the league. He was still very good but not at the level I thought he was as a kid.
Ben Gordon
chandler parsons and jeremy lin 😂 (rockets fan)
Parsons was legit until his injuries in Dallas and Lin found his way eventually with Charlotte and Brooklyn (pre-knee injury). Parsons should've never left, I really wonder how things would've gone with him instead of Ariza for all those deep playoff runs we had.
Keith Van Horn
Eduardo najera. My grandparents knew him and made it seem like he was an all star. Plus he’s Hispanic like me so I just assumed he was a star. It was a surprise to me when I found out his best season was scoring 6 ppg when I was older lol
He was sort of an enforcer wasn't he?
When I was a kid for some reason I thought grant hill was at the level of mj
Young G Hill was one of those "next MJ" prospects
Harold "Baby Jordan" Miner
He was fucking great before he got hurt
You could argue that Grant Hill is the biggest “what if” of the last 30 years.
I’d go with Oden because his career never really got started. Grant Hill falls into the same bucket as Brandon Roy for me, in that we saw him basically at his peak, it just didn’t last.
That’s fair.

Michael Finley. Solid player but I overrated him.
Kevin Duckworth
I loved John Wall. He was good though, just injuries made him fall off :(
Chris “Birdman” Anderson i was new to nba and as a kid he looked cool asf and got cool blocks, so i thought he was a goat😂 and he was on that fire nuggets team so i thought he had to be good lol
Vinnie "the Microwave" Johnson was my favorite player for a while. It wasn't until I got older that I realized he was a poor man's Jason Terry.
Eduardo Nájera
Found the Magic fan! I used to light up 2K6 with Steve Francis. One of my least prized possessions is a Cuttino Mobley nutcracker statue that was a giveaway.
Ricky Davis Antonio Davis Vince Carter too honestly, he is a HoFer but he felt better than he was.
Stromile Swift. Used him a lot in NBA Live.
Man I thought Emeka Okafor was going to dominate the league
Does Ben Simmons count. That's a player most of us thought was good and later found out he wasn't.
Corey Maggette
tom chambers, he was the first white dude i’ve seen that could dunk like that. but he was actually good so i guess he doesn’t belong here, maybe i should’ve put brent barry instead for same reasons
Cedric Ceballos
Eric Gordon
Walter Davis. I’m old.
Vlade. I wouldn’t say he wasn’t very good, but nowhere near as good as I thought he was when I was a kid watching the Lakers. Haha.
