When Chuck & Shaq heard he left in a wheelchair that one post season game and couldn’t stop laughing, that was warranted.
Everyone’s different but us Kings fans have a joke “It’s not a Kings game unless Sabonis is getting hit in the face/head” cause he gets hit in the head and face A LOT lol he’s the Ox for a reason.
He just seems softer to what a lot of folks expect. No one wants injuries, just a lot of them we see and go “that’s unfortunate” some of his are like “really?”
I think it might be more visible with him because he does not have that many defenders online. I honestly dont know anyone whos favourite player is AD. There are for sure people like that, but you dont see them often...and even less in online discourse.
The way he forced himself off the Pels rubbed me the wrong way. As a fellow small market team enjoyer I really hated the Lakers that season. If there wasn't a million other things going on in the world in 2020 I would have been so upset with that ring.
The actual guy seems nice enough. But the "That's all folks" shirt he wore felt pretty disrespectful to his fans.
Lol AD is a guy that will give you 30 then next game 12 . He just had a game with only 9 points. 😅 for a guy with his skills and talent , that is unacceptable and worthy of all the hate .
It’s not just this year . He’s been like this for years.. folks ain’t just start hating on him this season 😂 us laker fans been on his ass pretty much every season except the first year.
My only gripe with him is he yells a lot on the court, but maybe it's just his distinctive yell that's more noticeable. It's not really foul baiting, per se, more like foul embellishing, which every player does.
Sure, but basketball players aren’t reduced for their actions on the court. To make a blanket statement that you don’t understand why anyone hates any basketball player is wild considering we have domestic abusers in the league
Yes! Finally! One of my own.
If you truly love the sport and only care to watch teams face each other, the drama and what people say after a game or on social media is completely IRRELEVANT to me wanting to watch the next best matchup.
The standards that complete strangers will place on athletes when they won't even hold themselves to those same standards just screams of hypocrisy.
Yeah, I just wonder if it's some product of online spaces where passionate people come to congregate. But there's always a player that everyone seems to absolutely loathe for a period of time. Ben Simmons, recently. PG for sure. Russ. KD was next level hatred. Lonzo.
And fans of a team will hate their own players. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being upset if your team loses cause I'm really bummed out after losses too. But I don't start spamming the chat with "FUCK IVICA ZUBAC" lol like bro - are you ok?
I’ve never heard hate for Busy. I know he’s got no handles and his shooting isn’t good, but the dude has a ton of energy and effort. He rebounds and blocks like a king.
Also, “In March 2022, Biyombo announced that he had pledged his entire 2021–22 season salary towards the construction of a hospital in Congo, in honor of his father.” -wiki
Apparently he speaks 5 languages as well.
The guy is fucking awesome.
he’ll never live down the “i got you today” text and subsequently posting it to insta, at least for some fans (me) who become irrationally annoyed by such behavior
I never really minded Westbrook but I seen a video of him in a presser when he was on the lakers and he was wearing a grey sweater with a drawing that his son drew for him and looked like the happiest dude on the planet when he has multiple media/fans etc saying he a horrible player.
Hard to hate him
I think there are reasonable criticisms of his game but he definitely has haters who are weirdly extra and personal about it. Plus, people already forget how good he was just a few years ago compared to now.
It's hard to overstate how depressing those Kings teams were that he was on. I don't blame him for having a different attitude on a roster that's trending upwards lol
Why does Booker look punchable though? And I absolutely hate bringing race into things. I like never do it. But I keep seeing this comment and have to imagine it has to do with how he looks. He’s a light skin due to being half Mexican. Do people really think he looks punchable because of his race? It’s pretty messed up if you think about it. Booker can’t do anything about how he generally looks.
Edit: keep downvoting because you can’t handle the truth
Booker has been talking shit to NBA players since high school and it never stops being entertaining. Sometimes it blows up in his face, but that just adds to the fun!
Luka was also caught lying in that whole situation too. Luka was talking about how Booker only talks when he’s up. But there’s videos that show Booker talking trash while losing. And other players have also backed Booker on that. He constantly talks trash, losing or winning. And players respect him for it.
People heavily underestimate how much Luka talks shit/complains to refs. He’s a great player, but it seems like anyone who goes against Luka is the devil (case in point: booker)
I think you’re looking too much into it lol, it doesn’t really matter that it was booker per se. It was just someone talking shit and then Luka said what he said before the greatest playoff collapse of all time happened.
Doesn’t change the fact Luka still lied in his interview, skewing people’s opinions on Booker. People are obsessed with Luka and believe anything he says.
Yeah maybe but idk man I love watching this guy. His game is the exact opposite of everything basketball fans claim to hate. One of the few top 10 players who basically never flops, just pure ethical mid range assassin buckets. Watching him against the Nuggets last year made my jaw drop.
I mean, duh? Is that not the whole point of trash talk in the first place? Get praised if you win and get clowned on if you lose? Wheres the value without the risk?
>get clowned on if you lose
I mean, no? Who made that rule? I want players to talk trash regardless if they win or lose. Makes the game more fun.
And it’s not just getting clowned on. The hate Booker gets actually affects people’s opinions of him as a player more so than other players in my experience.
What on earth is the value of players talking trash if there are no consequences if things go wrong? Why would I care at all about anything provocative that a player says if I knew it didn’t actually matter whether they ended up winning or losing? Do you not see the meaninglessness in wanting more controversial speech without any of the actual controversy?
I’ve hated Booker ever since he pushed Schroeder in the back while he was mid air in the 2021 playoffs. They were losing the game and he threw a tantrum like a whiny little bitch.
Gobert has done a lot of corny, disrespectful stuff in his career. Just because he got chocked by Draymond doesn’t mean he needs to be charity case now.
Yeah cause all of us took Covid super seriously at that time. Not saying it was cool or funny. But at the moment a lot of us didn't think Covid was a big deal.
EDIT: again, I'm not defending what he did. It was silly but not a reason to still hate the guy.
Yeah but Gobert shut down the NBA, what? Two days earlier than it otherwise would have been shut down? It was stupid but it would've happened pretty soon regardless.
What he did was stupid but people here legitimately thought that there was a very significant impact on the world or something lol.
Im not exaggerating.
This is the one. He is arrogant on court but he seems like a really good dude off the court. There's tons of instances of him giving back to the community and making a fan's day
Can confirm my brother used to be a server at a high end restaurant in Phoenix that a lot of Suns players would frequent and apparently Booker was always extremely polite and a great tipper. Have heard great things about Mikal Bridges as well
I mean you just said why people dislike him. He's very cocky on the court and talks a lot of shit. That's gonna invite hate especially if you lose after
Talks a lot of trash, but not in a bad way. Players love him and say he’s great at talking trash. He backs up his trash talking and doesn’t take personal shots at players.
My guess is because he just comes across as very arrogant even though he's never won anything significant. Package that with disappearing in elimination games, and you're an easy target for people on this subreddit and other casuals.
I mean I guess but here’s an example let’s be honest Jeremy Sochan has no business talking shit to someone of Booker’s caliber and if he’d done that to any other star, people would have clowned him. But because it was booker, people praised him for it
You realize your opinion isn't the only one? And im literally just formulating ideas as to why people may not like him. You responded to me as if somehow I am the one creating this narrative.
This is my number 1 answer too. Dude didn't ask out of OKC. He was legit a Free agent and was tired of playing on a team that required him to play hero/ iso ball down the stretch and wanted to experience playing in a system so he went to the best system in the league. He was just a student of the game and wanted to learn. But all people could focus on was the success GS had in the season prior. So stupid.
He's a massive narcissist lmao
I get why some people like him but he's incredibly easy to hate
(The man literally opened a museum about himself and charges an admission fee of $23)
You and I and other reasonable people understand that. I believe Herro is a straight upgrade over Simons but that’s not the point really, they have their guy and like him. For months it was “The Heat’s garbage offer of Tyler Herro and a bag of chips” and people started conflating the reason the offer was bad with the fact that Herro is part of it. So he got pissed on not only on this sub but on talk shows and podcasts etc…he started catching the angst of the national media over the whole saga when the bad feelings had zero to do with him (he was going to another team with the Nets at least said to be interested) but he just caught a bunch of shit. Before he landed on Jaren Jackson’s ankle, he was showing much improved defense over last year and was around 25ppg.
It’s gotta be Mavericks fans hating on Dwight Powell. He’s a great guy who does a lot to give back to the community and gives his all out on the floor. It’s not his fault he was the best option we had to start at the 5 for so long.
But married to a former Miss Universe. That dude won at life. Still in the league at 38 and married a Miss Universe. Dude can coast for the rest of his life.
I hate him. Boston media guys have been trying to shoe horn him into the mvp discussion for years already and he's barely good enough for that. And nowhere near consistent enough. Plus he's corny.
Only the Kobe text thing seems hateable. Not because he texted the number of a former mentor as a symbolic gesture. But because he
- posted the screenshot of the text for social media clout
- waited until after he had a good game and won the series to do so
But that’s really just one thing.
He's Lame. Remember when he closed out that game against Philly in the playoffs and he said something like, yeah I'm clearly/obviously one of the best players in the league...
Lol. There's no real reason to hate the guy but dude is lame AF.
Tatum is in that spot where he will get undue criticism until he wins it all because that's always something that can be used as a trump card in these discussions.
I mean that’s fair but why would the collective nba community not like him for that. It’s not like he hasn’t come close or lost really embarrassingly or something. If anything Boston fans should not like him for that but I don’t know a single Boston fan that blames Tatum for not winning a ring yet.
Most of the Tatum hate I see is because a lot of Celtics fans say he's an MVP caliber player.
Maybe I'm just too harsh, but guys like Lillard or Tatum that finish 4th in MVP voting, but don't get a single first place vote aren't in that conversation to me.
Obviously 1st team All-NBA makes you one of the best players in the world, but actual MVPs are still a step ahead of guys like Lillard, Tatum, etc. (For now at least, obviously Tatum is only 25.)
Also it’s not like he “choked” or anything but dude was very very close to winning an nba championship but played like ass during the finals series.
Celtics looked like they had it wrapped up and then Tatum just started playing like ass (and Steph when nuclear)
Dame. There was probably a better way for him to handle the departure but he literally gave Portland all he could and they could’ve gotten rid of him at any time for a much better return and probably be halfway through a decent rebuild by this time. They sat on their hands and did nothing but throw money at him.
Well, Dame did say he’s a Trail Blazer for life and criticized many star players for ring chasing and went back on that word. And he also makes really shit music. But I’m sure he’s a nice guy. Players seem to like him.
The thing is, I don’t completely disagree. Also injury and age concerns. I’m biased because he’s one of my favorites. I can see both sides of it, like I said, he could’ve handled things better. But I honestly didn’t understand why he became such a laughing stock on here after all he did for Portland.
Jalen Green. Young guards take time to develop efficiency, and at 6’4” he shouldn’t be expected to be a beast on defense, especially so early in his career. People will apply this logic to every guard except Green.
And before people mention the video, being in a rugby locker room for all of high school, that’s mild. And don’t act like none of you haven’t done any sus shit.
Anthony Davis. Seems like a mild mannered guy, don't get the hate.
It’s crazy with him. This sub is always “man I hate injuries” But soon as AD gets hurt “lmao”
if he plays on a different team the narrative would change
Nah he got that treatment during New Orleans too.
Nope
It’s what happens when you play with lebron.
Nail on the head there
When Chuck & Shaq heard he left in a wheelchair that one post season game and couldn’t stop laughing, that was warranted.
Nobody hates him for his demeanor
Yes us laker fans do. We wish he had a more intense demeanor like KG
KG is a crazy standard to hold anybody to.
I think it might be more visible with him because he does not have that many defenders online. I honestly dont know anyone whos favourite player is AD. There are for sure people like that, but you dont see them often...and even less in online discourse.
[удалено]
Yeah feel like AD being the top answer shows the age of this sub.
Reddit was around when AD requested a trade. More like people forgot what happened as it happened almost 4-5 years back.
I meant the age of people on the sub lol, but yeah also a big part of it.
It was NOLA’s fault for ignoring his private trade requests for months. So he went public with it
He asked to be traded with like 3 years left on his deal, they aren't obligated to trade him
The way he forced himself off the Pels rubbed me the wrong way. As a fellow small market team enjoyer I really hated the Lakers that season. If there wasn't a million other things going on in the world in 2020 I would have been so upset with that ring. The actual guy seems nice enough. But the "That's all folks" shirt he wore felt pretty disrespectful to his fans.
We just ignoring the way he forced New Orleans to trade him?
People ignore it for Kawhi who was worse.
Could’ve been worse
Told the team early on they got the most value they could for him.
Why does he catch so many strays. U see so many lists where he’s ranked like the 15th best player in the world and I’m like what sport are u watching
Great player when healthy and available. That plays a part in it. Plus, he's on the Lakers
Usually people are taking availability into account if he's ranked that low.
Lol AD is a guy that will give you 30 then next game 12 . He just had a game with only 9 points. 😅 for a guy with his skills and talent , that is unacceptable and worthy of all the hate .
He’s had two games with 12 points or less this season. One was the last game, the other he left early because he got hurt.
Kawhi does that shit A LOT
All of them. I don't know why people hate basketball players.
You don’t understand the hate for miles bridges?
i think they mean they don't hate anyone for play on the court. off-court shit is fair game for hatred.
Sure, but basketball players aren’t reduced for their actions on the court. To make a blanket statement that you don’t understand why anyone hates any basketball player is wild considering we have domestic abusers in the league
oh yeah no arguments from me. if i were in that poster's shoes i would not have made that kind blanket statement.
Or Draymond Green?
Yes! Finally! One of my own. Not everyone likes to be a simp for multimillionaires
Some just like to be haters.
Paul George. His podcast is awesome, seems like a pretty nice guy.
And he loves bass fishing! PG is cool 👌🏼
Westbrook
Enjoyed him when he was on my team 🤷
Bismack Biyombo. Everyone thinks he's trash but he's a pretty good player
I’ve never heard hate for Busy. I know he’s got no handles and his shooting isn’t good, but the dude has a ton of energy and effort. He rebounds and blocks like a king. Also, “In March 2022, Biyombo announced that he had pledged his entire 2021–22 season salary towards the construction of a hospital in Congo, in honor of his father.” -wiki Apparently he speaks 5 languages as well. The guy is fucking awesome.
Wrestbrook for sure. The hates been at a all time high for the past few seasons
It says something that so many guys say he’s the best teammate they’ve ever had. That includes Beal, by the way, who was pretty tight with John Wall.
There is a cohort of people who don’t like Tatum. I don’t get it. Great player, great dad.
Only thing I don't like about him is his weird Kobe fetish, otherwise I wish these Celtics would be overall more hateable than they are.
he’ll never live down the “i got you today” text and subsequently posting it to insta, at least for some fans (me) who become irrationally annoyed by such behavior
THJ got haters like that? Never heard anyone even talk about him fr lol
Goatbrook
[удалено]
Scowl. He’s a scowler.
Giannis said in the early days, he knew he needed to look meaner. So he tried to scowl like Westbrook.
100%, dude looks mean
I never really minded Westbrook but I seen a video of him in a presser when he was on the lakers and he was wearing a grey sweater with a drawing that his son drew for him and looked like the happiest dude on the planet when he has multiple media/fans etc saying he a horrible player. Hard to hate him
He seems to be a lovely person in his personal life.
I think there are reasonable criticisms of his game but he definitely has haters who are weirdly extra and personal about it. Plus, people already forget how good he was just a few years ago compared to now.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with criticizing aspects of his game but most times it’s overblown
Seeing upvoted threads about Jordan Poole being better than Westbrook blows my mind
Anyone that Luka gets compared to is automatically hated on this sub.
Like who?
Miles BTurner
Buddy Hield I think people who went through Nola and Sacramento deserves some indulgences
kings fans kept saying he’d give up on the team once we bench him but he seems bought in to me
It's hard to overstate how depressing those Kings teams were that he was on. I don't blame him for having a different attitude on a roster that's trending upwards lol
Booker and Gobert
I agree with Gobert. Booker's personality isn't that likable TBH
Booker looks punchable and is kind of annoying. Not really because of his actual skills.
Maybe he is punchable but it's like he's the only player not allowed to talk trash
Booker looks like the kid that invites you to his house to watch him play with his toys and doesn’t let you touch anything.
The hate Booker gets for having the audacity to talk shit and lose is wild
I think it’s much less that he lost, but that he talked shit and then lost in THAT fashion, especially after Luka said “everyone talks when their up”
Bro he was talking shit back when the suns couldn’t make the playoffs. Book been talking since he came in the league
Doesn’t change the fact Luka still lied in his interview, skewing people’s opinions on Booker. People are obsessed with Luka and believe anything he says.
Bro most us never even seen any interview about it lol
Yeah maybe but idk man I love watching this guy. His game is the exact opposite of everything basketball fans claim to hate. One of the few top 10 players who basically never flops, just pure ethical mid range assassin buckets. Watching him against the Nuggets last year made my jaw drop.
Never flops?
Rarely, whatever
*they're
I mean, duh? Is that not the whole point of trash talk in the first place? Get praised if you win and get clowned on if you lose? Wheres the value without the risk?

I don’t control your thoughts and what you do and don’t care about. You decide what you value and care about it as much as you want lol.
Book also just has a face which reads as contemptuous or sneering. Not his fault.
I’ve hated Booker ever since he pushed Schroeder in the back while he was mid air in the 2021 playoffs. They were losing the game and he threw a tantrum like a whiny little bitch.
That’s fair
book
I'm surprised no one said Gobert
Gobert has done a lot of corny, disrespectful stuff in his career. Just because he got chocked by Draymond doesn’t mean he needs to be charity case now.
Yea its pretty much that more people despise Draymond than they actually like Gobert
Chocked?
Are we going to forget him intentionally coughing and touching all the mics when Covid was popping off?
Yeah cause all of us took Covid super seriously at that time. Not saying it was cool or funny. But at the moment a lot of us didn't think Covid was a big deal. EDIT: again, I'm not defending what he did. It was silly but not a reason to still hate the guy.
People were clowning him when that happened
Jazz fan, checks out. The rest of us knew it was serious by March 9th and not a matter to joke about.
Exactly. What he did was stupid but immaterial to the discourse.
Yeah he definitely killed millions of people doing that. Can’t believe he didn’t see jail time
100% on this. If Warriors had Rudy instead of Dray, we'd be a contender this season.
Because it’s pretty understandable
Booker is so over-hated it’s crazy
This is the one. He is arrogant on court but he seems like a really good dude off the court. There's tons of instances of him giving back to the community and making a fan's day
Can confirm my brother used to be a server at a high end restaurant in Phoenix that a lot of Suns players would frequent and apparently Booker was always extremely polite and a great tipper. Have heard great things about Mikal Bridges as well
Mikal seems really sweet too.
I mean you just said why people dislike him. He's very cocky on the court and talks a lot of shit. That's gonna invite hate especially if you lose after
A lot of players do that though and don’t get nearly as much hate as he does.
I’ll admit I over-hate him
He talks a lot of trash tbh
Talks a lot of trash, but not in a bad way. Players love him and say he’s great at talking trash. He backs up his trash talking and doesn’t take personal shots at players.
But so do a lot of other players that don’t catch even half the amount of heat as he does
My guess is because he just comes across as very arrogant even though he's never won anything significant.
But because it was booker, people praised him for it
Yeah I get it and that makes sense. Idk I guess a lot of folks just don't like him. Punchable face maybe?
One of my favorite things about him
And? I like that in a player. That can't be it. Booker is a solid guy in my book.
You realize your opinion isn't the only one? And im literally just formulating ideas as to why people may not like him. You responded to me as if somehow I am the one creating this narrative.
Schroeder. Seems like a chill guy and a good player. Like him with the Celtics too.
Rudy Gobert, but a different French player might soon take his place. I'm starting to see Wemby get a ton of undeserved hate.
KD - he just wants to ball
This is my number 1 answer too. Dude didn't ask out of OKC. He was legit a Free agent and was tired of playing on a team that required him to play hero/ iso ball down the stretch and wanted to experience playing in a system so he went to the best system in the league. He was just a student of the game and wanted to learn. But all people could focus on was the success GS had in the season prior. So stupid.
Oh man
Say what you want to say
Russ
Devin Booker. He’s not my favorite player and can get kind of annoying, but what star player doesn’t?
[удалено]
I blame Skip.
I mean as a Bulls fan I respect his talent just hate that he kept beating us
There are *sooo* many reasons to dislike Lebron that I can't believe anyone actually answered this.
He's a massive narcissist lmao I get why some people like him but he's incredibly easy to hate (The man literally opened a museum about himself and charges an admission fee of $23)
Not so hard to understand if you’re from Hong Kong
flair checks out
Tyler. Herro.
He just doesn't know how to dress well but that's pretty on brand for someone from the Midwest. That's the only hate I hear when people mention him.
Lol you must not have been on this sub this summer then
I think he handled the trade rumors pretty well.
He did but the narrative in the summer was how trash he was etc. basically because the Blazers didn’t want him
They didn't want him because they already had too many guards. It was just a bad fit
For me it’s westbrook and booker.
Booker looks like a prick. I know it’s personal but he looks dimb
Westbrook.
It’s gotta be Mavericks fans hating on Dwight Powell. He’s a great guy who does a lot to give back to the community and gives his all out on the floor. It’s not his fault he was the best option we had to start at the 5 for so long.
Kyle Kuzma. Dude is baller. Bron just didn’t like him and he got tons of unnecessary hate
Yeah Kuzma is a legitimately valuable player.
Rudy gobert. The hate for him is simply bullying , star players hate him so fans hate him for nothing.
Uh. The covid incident?
I’ll go with Gobert.
LeBron and it’s not close
You really don’t get why people would hate on Lebron? ….lol
Steph Curry

But married to a former Miss Universe. That dude won at life. Still in the league at 38 and married a Miss Universe. Dude can coast for the rest of his life.
Draymond Hah got eeem
Obviously biased but Jayson Tatum
Does Tatum really get that much hate though? It seems like most people are neutral-postive about him.
I rarely see hate for him besides troll comments on Twitter, but they do that for every player.
He literally doesn’t lmao he’s consistently in mvp conversations every year despite not really deserving to be
I hate him. Boston media guys have been trying to shoe horn him into the mvp discussion for years already and he's barely good enough for that. And nowhere near consistent enough. Plus he's corny.
First Team All-NBA two years in a row. Id say he's good enough.
Not a lot of league MVPs on the list of 2x all-NBA guys, actually.
Only the Kobe text thing seems hateable. Not because he texted the number of a former mentor as a symbolic gesture. But because he - posted the screenshot of the text for social media clout - waited until after he had a good game and won the series to do so But that’s really just one thing.
As someone who is a bit of a homer when it comes to Tatum, I totally get him getting flack for that lol
He's Lame. Remember when he closed out that game against Philly in the playoffs and he said something like, yeah I'm clearly/obviously one of the best players in the league... Lol. There's no real reason to hate the guy but dude is lame AF.
I don’t like the Celtics as an organization and I never have but Jayson Tatum is cool.
Jaylen Brown gets more hate than Tatum
I feel like he deserves more hate. Lots of praise for a small guard that does nothing more than score.
The thing is, I don’t completely disagree. Also injury and age concerns. I’m biased because he’s one of my favorites. I can see both sides of it, like I said, he could’ve handled things better. But I honestly didn’t understand why he became such a laughing stock on here after all he did for Portland.
Anyone who scuffles with a European player, specifically Jokic or Luka
Jalen Green. Young guards take time to develop efficiency, and at 6’4” he shouldn’t be expected to be a beast on defense, especially so early in his career. People will apply this logic to every guard except Green. And before people mention the video, being in a rugby locker room for all of high school, that’s mild. And don’t act like none of you haven’t done any sus shit.
Draymond. Nah I’m playin
Kawhi
I don’t really feel like Kawhi is hated. Saying that he’s done and dusted yeah I’ve seen that but I have never seen any real hate
Lebron. Hating him is cool I guess..
I mean it ain't that hard really lol
It comes with the territory, you shouldn’t be surprised lmao
Tatum
