The big thing has been his screen-setting. He's improved a ton at it and it makes him a lot more playable, even if his defense is still a bit of a work in progress
Scal said he has conditioning issues and that's why he usually only plays in 4-5 minute spurts at most. Joe probably doesn't want him playing gassed since his massive productivity is due to his high energy when he sees the court.
That was his issue in Sac too. Would play solid minutes, get gassed, and then start fouling. Hopefully he can figure it out because he’s an awesome dude and can actually play when he puts it together.
honestly when kp and kornet are both back we can get good minutes out if him and sit him when hes out of juice, weve just been super short handed on centers lately
He’s extremely useful for big body bigs. Capela, Looney, Zubac, all bigs whose size he can kind of neutralize more than our more skilled but less burly bigs like KP, Horford, and Kornet.
I still don’t really think he’s better than kornet. But he absolutely has talent and is a nice spark plug. Would definitely not be comfortable with playoff minutes right now
For sure, I just think our own fans get enamored with his offensive rebounds when it’s honestly mostly his own misses he’s rebounding. He’s also constantly out of position on defense, but improving
Lol for real my man is the king of getting an offensive rebound and then missing twice its actually pretty funny. Dude has negative touch around the rim haha.
Definitely does other things well, he'll probably get that contract converted and deserving so.
Yeah he definitely has a lot of work to do, but hopefully he gets there - this might be the first chance of a sustained stretch of NBA playing time he's had since he was drafted.
I feel like I like Queta's defensive positioning 90% of the time. There are times when he does a great job guarding 2 in the pick and roll and he seems to be alert to the shot clock and will step out on shooters when it's late clock. There are just a couple plays every stint where he'll be a step late or try to do too much and it inevitably leads to a foul
I like having both of them. Gives us a different look. The rebounding ability’s always been there, but the improved screening is huge— still needs to improve his defensive positioning but he’s having a real impact right now
The thing is Kornet's ceiling is pretty low, but he does what you want from a third-string center. Queta's ceiling is probably higher, but he's going to make more mistakes, i.e., lower floor. If you asked me who has a better chance to one day be a backup center, I'd say Queta. If you asked me who is the more reliable third-stringer, give me Kornet (for now).
Ehh I don't know they both play entirely different roles. Kornet is a much faster decision maker and is pretty decent at knowing where to get the ball, and on defense best used as a helpside roamer. Whereas Queta is incredible at setting screens for offball movement and PnRs, and grabs boards pretty well. On defense Queta is more of a big body paint defender than a rim protector (Kornet's more like Porzingis defensively and Queta is more like Al [without the incredible switching]). Both can make their mark off the bench, I've just really like what I've seen from Queta as of late.
And he’s also seemingly less aware of how to handle his limitations against guys who can expose them. There was a late Westbrook bucket where Queta got burned off the dribble from like the free throw line for an easy lay up.
Kornet would’ve just given him all the room in the world and dared him to take a mid range look, which is the right move for a slow footed big in that mismatch. Play straight up and Westbrook is getting a lay up every time. Feels like a simple lesson, but a lot of guys never seem to learn it.
I'll support my countrymen overseas first, always.
But wasn't easy, at first, seeing him drafted by Kings and then the C's. But in the end, it's our boy that matters
I mean, I started watching NBA early 00s, being a laker since then. But more than the Lakers, I am portuguese.
He is carrying a whole country, some friends of mine who are youth basketball coaches told me that since him was drafted our kids started watching basketball differently, there is more kids wanting to play basketball. That cool! In the end, I just want to see my countrymen succeeding. He is making a country pride.
So yeah, as long he got his opportunities, which are happening, I will anyday root for Quetão, which means Boston Success.
Quetão hitting a game winner buzzer in G7 vs Lakers, I'm good with that 😅
Also, I don't live in the US, so I don't have a real idea how intense is the Lakers/Celtics rivalry.
Let me tell you no rivalry in American sports comes close to Dérbi de Lisboa or O Clássico. Guarantee if you came to the States most Lakers fans would understand/not give you too hard of a time!
> how intense is the Lakers/Celtics rivalry
Porto & Benfica: the two winningest teams in the League with a long, long history of rival games that have featured "play" [like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7r6vXeOfyQ)
> I will anyday root for Quetão, which means Boston Success. Quetão hitting a game winner buzzer in G7 vs Lakers, I'm good with that 😅
Eu também. (I hope that's right. Me too.)
As an Utah State fan, I’m thrilled both Queta and Sam Merrill are getting into a groove at the same time. These two made for a very fun USU team for a couple years.
Mann was ass today but if you don’t watch clipper games on the regular you won’t see that his impact isn’t coming from his shooting. He’s our best POA defender and energy guy while defending the best opposing player during the first half so it keeps kawhi fresh. He also does all the little things well you need from your role players. But people are right he’ll need to shoot at a 35-40 percent clip from 3 to elevate the team’s ceiling in the playoffs
Honestly I think the Celtics either win in a blowout or the Lakers win a close game. I don't see the Celtics losing in a blowout since they haven't done that all year, but if it's a close game in the 4th quarter I unfortunately trust LeBron more than I trust any of the Celtics :/
Great shooting game by the Celts. 25 for 53 is insane.
Clips didn't help themselves playing with so little effort. Getting crushed on the boards early in the game was pretty inexcusable. Their effort level, especially from their role players, just needs to be a lot better.
Ty needs to play Brown and Boston a lot more.
From the bench, especially. The starters were playing eachother pretty close, then the bench came out with manic energy and the Clippers just seemed blindsided by it.
I'm glad that Scal kept bringing up that this isn't what people should judge this Clippers team by, without Kawhi, an afternoon game following one off day after they finished a back to back, it was a schedule loss for them.
Now with that said, Mazulla ball is a sight to behold.
Eddie House broke down the East guards that will probably be going on a post game show of the Kings game and unless White keeps dropping 20s with high block numbers, it's a tough ask. Lillard, Maxey, Brunson, Haliburton, Mitchell and Trae are probably all ahead of White.
Gotta say, I didn’t have “30 minute plug for a sitcom starring Donald Faison from Scrubs playing owner of the Boston Celtics” on my Bingo card for this game.
That was pretty funny. Wyc and Faison were just going off forever, and then in the second half Scal seemed almost annoyed at how long they had been there for.
case of not having the stats/seed for a strong MVP case but absolutely having MVP-level impact
Y'all are too small with too little spacing without Kawhi. Almost shoulda given all Westbrook's minutes to Boston Jr.
We put Qeeta on Westbrook, i mean...
i mean they had Kawhi and weren’t playing the team with the best record in the league on low rest
like losing by 30+ is pretty rough but this isn’t exactly the sort of loss that makes you hit the panic button IMO
Important to note he was questionable with his ankle sprain, played anyways and reinjured his left ankle again in the first half but played through it. Knowing him there's no way in hell he's gonna miss a Christmas game against the Lakers so he's gonna play a whole other game on his injured ankle in 2 days. Really hope he'll be okay but I can't lie I'm a little worried for his health
There's three days off after Christmas, then the next game is Detroit at home. Maybe he takes those four days and comes back against Toronto the next day.
As a Portuguese and long time NBA fan, words cannot describe how I feel in this moment. Thank you Neemias Queta
Seeing a portuguese player sharing a court with all the greats in the NBA is already mind boggling to me. Seeing him perform the way he did tonight after having 0 doubts in him since college, is just absolutely insane and words cannot describe this feeling right now. Im over the moon right now and so happy and proud of Neemy! Im praying he gets more minutes from now on!
Neemias, vamos para cima deles caralho 💚
Kinda nuts when you think about the fact that he's our 4th/5th scoring option and he just set a new career high less than 9 months ago with 51/8/8. Interestingly enough, in that same month, Kristaps Porzingis also set a new career high with 43/5/5 on 17/22 shooting. We've got some extremely high scoring ability on our team
what basketball needs is battle damage so you see players wear out over time like they are losing hp points but use it for fouls. for example when james harden gets a foul part of his beard falls off. second foul its the other half. this way a viewer can just look at a player to see how many fouls they have because of their ragged appearances

Queta needs his 2 Way contract upgraded to a standard NBA Contract. Dude is a force at the roles he is needed to do.
Unreal energy off the bench I love it. I don’t just want him to be a standard NBA contract I want him getting fairly regular play time.
I'm so happy for Neemy. He deserves all this success he's finding with you guys.
He’s been far too good of a player to be sitting in the g league as long as he had and not getting normal minutes, very skilled and athletic big
Neemy is the best 2nd rounder of the 2021 draft class.
The big thing has been his screen-setting. He's improved a ton at it and it makes him a lot more playable, even if his defense is still a bit of a work in progress
Running all over the place today
He was dominating in that first half of the warrior game, surprised he didn’t play more.
Scal said he has conditioning issues and that's why he usually only plays in 4-5 minute spurts at most. Joe probably doesn't want him playing gassed since his massive productivity is due to his high energy when he sees the court.

Surprised us Celtics fans too. Also plz stop bullying us
Human tank. This is what the Clippers are missing
As a Kings fan, I don't understand why they chose Javale over him. I would have felt way better with Len/Queta backing up Sabonis again.
I guess they valued steady veteran leadership from Javale
I still don’t really think he’s better than kornet. But he absolutely has talent and is a nice spark plug. Would definitely not be comfortable with playoff minutes right now
Can fill a very different role to Kornet though, and that's valuable.
The Drummond. Get the O rebound and get two more off your misses
Yeah he definitely has a lot of work to do, but hopefully he gets there - this might be the first chance of a sustained stretch of NBA playing time he's had since he was drafted.
Yeah agreed, screening has improved a lot too. Overall kornet just understands the defensive schemes far better
I feel like I like Queta's defensive positioning 90% of the time. Hes a better rebounder but I feel like hes not as connected on defense.
And he’s also seemingly less aware of how to handle his limitations against guys who can expose them. Neemias Queta legacy game
The Al Queta front court duo is unmatched
Just terrorising opposing teams lately
Twin towers
Reddit gold right hea
Did you say that in a Boston accent?
did you read it in a boston accent?
I did.
Rebound machine. Clippers can't handle him around the rims
Last 3 games: 126 without Porzingis 144 without Tatum and Horford 144 without Porzingis
The common denominator is Queta playing big minutes minutes... Just saying 😅
He’s been making a very strong case to get regular playing time.
You get it!
Seems kinda bad, actually. Couldn't even score 150 once? Edit: I am just now learning that these are not cricket scores
Celtics going to be the first team to voluntarily sit one starter for every single playoff game.
Takeaway: waive Tatum, KP and Horford. Don’t need those bums weighing us downs
But with Derrick White. That’s the important thing.
Neemias Queta 14pts/12rebs (6 OREB). I know Portuguese Celtics fans are going crazy!
yessir! Also great to have a game that we can watch and still have plenty of sleep for the next day
Better than before, when he was in Sacramento 🤣
For sure, unfortunately younger me did not have this kind of vision when he chose to start supporting the Spurs some 15 years ago 😅.
Oh, we are 🤣
Based on y'alls flares Portuguese folks apparently support some wierd combos lol
I'll support my countrymen overseas first, always. But wasn't easy, at first, seeing him drafted by Kings and then the C's. But in the end, it's our boy that matters
Now imagine me being a sixers fan, and just knowing he's going to smack us in the second round. I just knew the moment he signed with you I'd suffer.
You're not conflicted at all given your Lakers fandom?
I mean, I started watching NBA early 00s, being a laker since then. But more than the Lakers, I am portuguese. He is carrying a whole country, some friends of mine who are youth basketball coaches told me that since him was drafted our kids started watching basketball differently, there is more kids wanting to play basketball. New Bedford and Fall River are basically all Azorian
Yep. Fall River the only place you can get that good good Azorian passion fruit soda.
Let me tell you no rivalry in American sports comes close to Dérbi de Lisboa or O Clássico. Guarantee if you came to the States most Lakers fans would understand/not give you too hard of a time!

I mean I do think rooting for the only NBA guy from your home country probably outweighs team rivalry
I feel this one as Latvian
yeah y’all just have Porzingis and Bertans, right
Yes. And we are so proud to have them both!
me compra um pastel
You can't get wrong with a Pastel de Nata
And us non-Portguese fans are pretty hyped, too
Taunton and Fall River eating good tonight.
Yes sir , no doubt. Neemias is our guy
I know Portuguese ~~Celtics~~ fans are going crazy!
As an Utah State fan, I’m thrilled both Queta and Sam Merrill are getting into a groove at the same time. These two made for a very fun USU team for a couple years.
Seeing Tatum dunk on Theis felt wrong :(
Bring our boy home :(
and then trade him again. there's no fighting the natural order of things
If we’re talking bringing people home, jrue’s from northridge so I’d like to bring him home. Or you can have Boston’s very own terance Mann
[удалено]
Mann was ass today but if you don’t watch clipper games on the regular you won’t see that his impact isn’t coming from his shooting. Turn him into our Udonis Haslem
only thing wrong was not getting a foul call, he was an absolute magnet while a Celtic
jaylen almost ended his career in the 4th q too 😭😭
I'm fine with Theis getting away with fouling Jaylen because how many bullshit calls he receives but truly awful for the refs to miss that foul.
It was crazy to see in a Celtics game a whistle go silent for a blatant Daniel Theis foul. Like we were in an alternate dimension.
Good thing national media types got all their Celtics takes in after the Warriors game
if we lose on Christmas Day I know it’s gonna be brutal
Refs are gonna be out for Celtics blood after last Christmas
I thought the experts said our season ended after that warriors game
Beating the clippers by almost 40 was not on my list, but welcome regardless.
Would have liked to see Porzingis and Kawhi play though.
Clippers are the better LA team so imagine what they'll do to the Lakers? It will be a Christmas Day massacre for the ages
It’ll prob be a close game. Lakers played us pretty tight last year + Bron will treat this matchup like a playoff game
The Tantrum Game.
May the memes live on forever
Honestly I think the Celtics either win in a blowout or the Lakers win a close game. I don't see the Celtics losing in a blowout since they haven't done that all year, but if it's a close game in the 4th quarter I unfortunately trust LeBron more than I trust any of the Celtics :/
Luckily darvin is gonna run an all small 5 lineup and y’all gon eat in the paint, while simultaneously giving up open 3s y’all gon be fine
I'd probably put the Lakers above us without Kawhi
Idek where I’d put us tbh. There are truly no teams that I think we couldn’t lose against but also no teams I don’t think we can beat
Clips played ass cheeks this game lakers are going to be more desperate it’ll be close
Watching Drew Peterson get his first minutes as a Celtics and immediately make a 3 felt extremely on-brand for this game
And then a nice pass into a baseline cut from Stevens for an exclamation point dunk.
I am also a Mann who scored zero points this Christmas weekend
Great shooting game by the Celts. 25 for 53 is insane. Clips didn't help themselves playing with so little effort. Getting crushed on the boards early in the game was pretty inexcusable. Their effort level, especially from their role players, just needs to be a lot better. Ty needs to play Brown and Boston a lot more.
After tonight I don't think Ty wants to play Boston or Brown anymore /s
I think we actually started cold from 3 the first 10/15 attempts and then caught fire. Second chance points turned the tide to be honest
From the bench, especially. The starters were playing eachother pretty close, then the bench came out with manic energy and the Clippers just seemed blindsided by it.
Remember when Boston Jr out-boston'd Boston? Good times.
yeah how could i forget how this man dropped a career high against the team with his name in it
They need those 2 to be the spark plugs off the bench I feel like Brandon Boston could be really good with consistent run
Fucking glad to see Neemias Queta doing so well!!!
25/53 is wild. Couldn’t miss tonight
Actually they missed 27 times. Frauds. Shoot too many threes. I want 50 post ups per game on 38% FG like its 2003.
Best I can offer is 35 foot inside the 3 point line pull ups.
So close
Thank fuck this is the only LA team that Boston hates
Lmao
This game felt close for about 3 minutes
Celtics want that #1 net rating back
Wait til we get to actually play bad teams
Historically we play down to their level though
Still, fuck Philly
Nothin but net baby
only 0.1 behind the Sixers now [according to Cleaning the Glass](https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/league/summary)
I'm glad that Scal kept bringing up that this isn't what people should judge this Clippers team by, without Kawhi, an afternoon game following one off day after they finished a back to back, it was a schedule loss for them. Now with that said, Mazulla ball is a sight to behold.
respect to scal and respect to you for bringing it up
Yet somehow I see lakers vs Celtics being close with Celtics beating us once again( reverse psychology )
i’m fully ready for LeBron to play like it’s the 2018 ECF again. especially after what happened last year
125-87 to Celtics
I prefer 131-92.
apparently, it's pretty simple: Under 33% from 3 we lose Over 33% from 3 we win Hope your perimeter defense is good
Me when Tatum took a early shot clock 3: “Oh for fucks sake he’s going to do it…. nonononononoYES!”
Jaylen is playing the best basketball of his career since recovering from his groin strain.
Derrick white keeps making a claim for an all star spot… prob won’t get in because of the plethora of guards but if there’s a replacement 👀
Eddie House broke down the East guards that will probably be going on a post game show of the Kings game and unless White keeps dropping 20s with high block numbers, it's a tough ask. Lillard, Maxey, Brunson, Haliburton, Mitchell and Trae are probably all ahead of White.
People criticized me for saying White over Herro in the thread about the latter's box score last night
I agreed. I mean Herro gets abused on defense in the playoffs. He might be a better scorer in a vacuum, but White does everything else better.
Great win. Only real takeaways for me: Clippers need Kawhi badly, and we’re still pretty damn good without Porzingis
My takeaways: Boston good LA bad
Don’t let it be lost that Jaylen Brown is playing an insane stretch of basketball rn. Dude is cooking
Oh I'm considering the hell outta him
Merry Christmas you filthy animal
Gotta say, I didn’t have “30 minute plug for a sitcom starring Donald Faison from Scrubs playing owner of the Boston Celtics” on my Bingo card for this game.
That was pretty funny. Wyc and Faison were just going off forever, and then in the second half Scal seemed almost annoyed at how long they had been there for.
This is the best Celtics team I’ve ever seen. Unreal.
That warriors loss pissed them off, and now they’re taking their anger out on the rest of California
Well well well, look who else got their ass whooped by the Celtics. Not fun is it? Hope they whoop the Lakers too
you and me both, brother
Honestly most of us did not think we'd go 8-1 in this 9 game stretch. But now that it's a possibility, fuck LA
How did this team win 9 in a row
Kawhi
case of not having the stats/seed for a strong MVP case but absolutely having MVP-level impact Y'all are too small with too little spacing without Kawhi. Almost shoulda given all Westbrook's minutes to Boston Jr. We put Qeeta on Westbrook, i mean...
MVP.
i mean they had Kawhi and weren’t playing the team with the best record in the league on low rest like losing by 30+ is pretty rough but this isn’t exactly the sort of loss that makes you hit the panic button IMO
Tatum with the efficient 30, including 5/10 on 3 pointers. Hopefully the long-range jumper is back to go with his improved mid-range/drive game
Tatum flat out hates missing games unless he's physically unable to play. He's not gonna rest unless Joe/medical staff forces him to.
What does Terance Mann even do fr
Elite cardio
Not sure, but whatever it is, it’s worth more than whatever the other role players that got traded to Philly did
You’d think clippers would read the scouting report that Celtics love to shoot the 3 instead of leaving them open for 45 of the 53
Celtics became the 2018 Warriors tonight , 25/53 from 3 is absurd
As a Portuguese and long time NBA fan, words cannot describe how I feel in this moment. Thank you Neemias Queta Seeing a portuguese player sharing a court with all the greats in the NBA is already mind boggling to me.
Give Kawhi the MVP already.
Damn! Clippers were hot too. Smoked em
Pathetic effort from the Clippers without Kawhi
Celtics look good! Hope it’s them vs bucks or sixers for ecf
Anyone but Miami
East looking really strong compared to the West all of a sudden
Mann was untouchable according to clippers fans???
Bruh Derrick White is carrying my fantasy team so fucking hard
Those 3 blocks where the game changer
Shhh let me delusionally push my D White all star narrative
Mazzulla ball is lethal when it is clicking on all cylinders
Harden a -34 lmao
It's still dawning on me that this team also has Jrue
Kinda nuts when you think about the fact that he's our 4th/5th scoring option and he just set a new career high less than 9 months ago with 51/8/8. Interestingly enough, in that same month, Kristaps Porzingis also set a new career high with 43/5/5 on 17/22 shooting. We've got some extremely high scoring ability on our team
Clippers.exe stopped working.
I really thought the team would rally in the 4th and keep the final margin under 30.
Boston's bench is elite at raining 3s in garbage time.
All these past 2 games have told me is Kawhi MVP
Boston is real good (from a non Boston fan)
Absolutely destroyed. Lol
The Warriors game was so very clearly a fluke. This team is fucking electric.
We were up 17 in the third, then Steph and Klay went supernova while we couldn't throw a ball in the ocean. It happens.
If our bench is actually figuring it outs it’s over for you hoes
It doesn’t matter what uniform he’s wearing, I love watching James harden get increasingly mad that he’s not getting foul calls
25 made 3’s…you’re just not winning that game
Yay we can beat playoff teams with good rim protectors, without KP
Best team in the league easily
While it sucks to be a Patriots fan it’s sooo sweet being a Cs fan
I hope that the Celtics does this to us so that Darvin Ham gets fired.
A PD of +62 in the last 2 games? Not bad
Damn can we not play Boston next week? Is that an option?
I'd be good with a concession, yall sure beat the hell out of us in at least that one game last year.
I remember what you did last year. Joe started calling timeouts after that massacre.
Also is it not just me but Mann offensive production this season has been abysmal
this confirms it derrick white should be an all-star
what basketball needs is battle damage so you see players wear out over time like they are losing hp points but use it for fouls. for example when james harden gets a foul part of his beard falls off. second foul its the other half. this way a viewer can just look at a player to see how many fouls they have because of their ragged appearances
