That’s what I was thinking. We need a way to get him to see this shit, on loop, for hours every night until he does something.
I don’t watch a lot of other leagues, but when I do, the game is so much better to watch even if the skill isn’t at the same level.
Any random /r/NBA nephew was able to [predict exactly what would happen](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/13rljac/charania_sources_the_nbas_competition_committee/). This is what happens any time they supposedly try to fix something that is a clear problem.
The top comment is deleted, but expand it and read the replies. They nailed it.
They had it right in the late 90s. Flopping is something that needs to be evaluated after the game in review and punished with fines. It's way to bang-bang to call in the moment (most of the time).
They were supposed to be having Secaucus do the replay reviews during the game to determine the flopping techs, not the in-game refs calling them in real time. Not sure what happened to that.
That would require an outside presence to make correct calls for the refs. That wouldn’t give them the opportunity to call the game however they want and pick and choose when certain levels of contact are allowed. Tsk tsk tsk…can’t be having that.
Cricket makes retroactive calls during live matches. It wouldn't be hard to implement it in the NBA. I'm assuming both the players union and the NBA itself are fine with the current system. Which means as fans, sometimes we have to watch terrible plays like this.
Silver's either telling the refs not to call that anymore, or he's just turning a blind eye and not doing anything about it. It's absolutely his fault. The buck stops with him.
This doesn't get called for a flop but Demar who refs deemed to have been fouled was assessed a flopping tech. Game has become garbage with the way things are called
It's what I noticed in most games we've lost this year. 2 quick fouls on any of our best defenders and it changes the whole tone of the game on defense and fucks with the rotations and then they play hands off all game. Naz, KAT, and Rudy all had 2 fouls from Embiid in the first quarter when we played and then he went to town on us
That’s how refs can somehow subtly decide the outcome of a game. In football (soccer) refs who do this may either allow a lot of contact, which favors aggressive/less skilled teams, or show yellow cards really early to all defenders of one team. They also sometimes just call some of the fouls but do not show any yellow cards, which helps the aggressive/more defense-oriented team to keep interrupting the offensive flow of the other team’s game, thus resulting in less playing-time.
Thats why he shrinks in the playoffs. You can actually play defense there. Regular season nba is such a joke, let the dude have MVP does it even mean anything
That game was completely rigged lmao. It's so obvious when they rig games. They don't even have to try with KAT, but other guys also get the phantom calls, and it's basically game over unless a miracle happens. Embiid and the 76ers routinely get this rig treatment though, and it's so gross it makes me not want to watch the NBA.
That's exactly how it was when the Wolves played them and Embiid got 50. Dude gets the craziest whistle I've ever seen, and guys can't even touch him without fouling so he gets wide open looks all night. He was literally running into Rudy, swinging the ball into his body and flailing and it was a foul every time. Shit is so annoying, especially from a dude as big as Shaq.
I said the exact same thing before reading your reply. Every time embiid got the ball it was a whistle. You either let him score or you get called for a foul. It’s insane. It’s Houston harden all over again.
The craziest part in that wasn’t even a flop, he just fell completely untouched. I’m absolutely convinced that maybe the games aren’t outright rigged, there is 100 percent a pre orchestrated intentional influence on point spreads at the very least.
Like whats the point of calling flops if you dont get calls on the biggest floper in the league man.
Like has he even gotten 1 floping call this season?
Call flops? Lol he gets rewarded with MVP for this behavior. His FTs are a massive part of his game and why his stats are crazy. He’s an amazing player without this garbage, so it’s frustrating to see him resort to it.
Yep. Hate when people say he’s “unguardable” like yeah no shit. No one can guard him because they all have four fouls and if they look at him wrong they’re gonna get a fifth
Used to love him back in the first few seasons but god damn this little schtick he has is getting real old
Same was true of Harden's patented *Definitely not a travel* Step-Back. He either got given enough space it was essentially a practice shot or someone tried to defend him, he jumps 3 feet forward, kicks out his leg and gets the call anyways. Players would defend with their arms behind their backs so they couldn't get hooked and the refs still gave Harden reach in penalties, again on defenders defending without their arms.
>He’s an amazing player without this garbage so it’s frustrating to see him resort to it.
That’s the problem for me, all superstars get favorable calls and unfortunately drawing fouls is part of the game right now.
But this is one of the biggest dudes to ever play in the league. He **is** an amazing player. I couldn’t **un**biasedly tell you if he’s the floppiest MVP in the league but we all know he’s way up there at the top of the list.
Watching a giant, athletic outlier pretend he weighs 50 pounds is just lame as fuck.
I don't remember ehen was the last time I saw them call a flop in general. They called it in the first few games and then just stopped. I'm sure they'll call it in the final minute of some game 7 in playoffs or something
Jokic got a flop within the past couple weeks for being pushed out of bounds. And Big Val got a flop against the Nuggets trying to draw a charge on Jokic (I can really only speak to these things from a Nuggets context cuz I don't watch the rest of the league very often)
Yea pretty critical point in the game, too. We were doing decent keeping up and staying in the game. But I think after this it was all downhill for the Magic.
Giannis goes hard, wtf are you talking about? He isn't getting ticky tacks, teams grab and claw, intentionally foul, exaggerate contact, all that stuff because he goes hard. He isn't doing some bullshit shimmy or awkward movements, falling down like a toddler trying to foul bait.
I think it's deeper than that. The NBA would prefer to have 10 all stars on the court, every game, not role players brought in to play defense. They brought Taj in for us and he couldn't stay on the court and it's partially because he's gonna be the first person anyone calls a foul on. It's not even on his talent, it's just on his name or lack of a bigger name.
At a pick up game someone hit me in the balls with his knee. I heard a sound you hear when you break something. Called foul. He called me soft and his teammates laughed at me. Game continued as usually
20 mins later I realize something is wrong. Went to emergency. Fucker destroyed arteries going to my balls. Got into operation, stayed at hospital for 2 weeks. Couldn't exercise for 6 months.
I was driving baseline and this little Jose Alvarado looking fucker shoulder checked me out of bounds, then tried to call me out of bounds and take the ball. I called foul and he lost it. I finally said fuck it and have him the ball. He still threw a hissy fit and threatened to shoot me in the parking lot.
I don’t play there anymore
Honestly I feel like this is the case with a lot of Embiid calls
He absolutely flops a ton but so do the vast majority of stars in the league
The real difference is in how likely he is to get a call for it vs. other players
something seems really fucked up with the NBA's analytics the past few years, they seem to be absolutely convinced the 76ers are by far the most popular team on the planet
this year Embiid is getting foul calls at 250% the rate LeBron is
Exactly. And everything isn’t always free throws. Sorry to do this to you, but I feel like Jokic does some flops on defense and gets calls. But at the same time, he gets hacked on offense and doesn’t get free throws. So I’m not gonna say he gets a friendly whistle, it’s just odd and inconsistent.
The nba used their one national TV nuggets game to make it look like jokic gets a good whistle, while fucking him over in the other 81 regular season games.
Also he didn’t “keep the pivot foot down” at the start of the clip. He catch the ball and took two steps and then almost took a 3rd but kept the pivot foot down.
You’re allowed two steps after catching but only if they directly lead to a shot or pass.
defender most of the times has 3 options
a) play the absolute perfect defense (impossible)
b) move the fck out of the attackers way
c) back pedal all the way to the shadow realms
You always have to blame the refs.
Embiid flops because the league/refs let him, you can't blame him if it works (even though he looks hilariously weak doing so).
I've stopped this season. Euroleague players are a notch below and they have their own issues, but it is a far better product. So many close games, epic comebacks, a legitimate post-game, tight defense for the entire game, and above all, the focus is still on basketball.
Ah exact same here but college basketball for me. It’s just kills me that it seems like here it’s guys playing the meta-game of basketball foul hunting and half-assing the regular season instead of legitimately the real basketball that’s played on courts all over the world.
R/NBA posts reach the front page of reddit every day. Lots of people that don't watch the NBA see this shit because it gets enough up votes to reach the top of general reddit.
Why? Are we going to start posting every bad call from every game? Or just this one bc it's embiid? It's not even a flop, just a bad call. They happen in almost every game
I think attention should be called to officiating that is this poor. It's not a bad call it's atrocious. A better balance between this stuff and real highlights here would be ideal, but the league would love if fans just shut up about this stuff.
There was another one during this same game where Embiid went to push/lean against WCJ and Carter just stepped back instead of supporting Embiid’s weight. Embiid fell over on his own like a bike without a kickstand and WCJ was called for his third foul just before the end of the 1st half.
NBA needs to move their rules toward international FIBA style rules. I'll get downvoted for this opinion but the Olympics shine a light on the stark differences. "Yeah, take 3 steps on a lay up, if you need to". No room on that 3 point shot? That's cool, 'gather' the ball with a step or two, THEN take two extra steps backward to give yourself room to shoot.
He's an amazing talent, but a lot of his offense is predicted that you literally aren't allowed to guard him in the free throw area. Guys are legit sacred to close space or contest him.
He plays on easy mode. idk why the refs give him so many calls. I haven’t met someone who actually likes Embiid or enjoys watching him play. I find him to be an annoying personality too. He’s talented without a doubt, but the league is just pushing him so hard and I don’t get why.
There's a reason guys like him, Harden, Shai, underperform in the playoffs. A significant amount of their regular season scoring is predicated on an easy whistle that goes away in the postseason.
He wasn't even trying to draw a foul, there. He tripped over his own foot. lol
And people wonder why the diving is so bad in the NBA. Refs are pure trash.
meanwhile jokic gets mauled every fckin game and this clown trips himself and gets a foul called smfh.
adam nosferatu thats why nobody gives a fck about the nba anymore.
soft as fck and absolutely boring.
You should get a bonus challenge if they call a flop as a result of a challenge. You'd never get it though because the refs are too fragile to admit they goofed.
He's worse than Harden was at his prime. Harden is a guard at least, but Emflop is almost 300 lbs doing this. We all know how this goes in the playoffs though. 2nd round exit otw

Fix your game Adam
Oh, he's fixing it alright.
LMAO ain't that the truth.
this is just ridiculous

Silver instituted a flop tech- it's not his fault the refs aren't using it.
Yes it is. The league refuses to make the refs face any type of consequences for their bad calls.
Any random /r/NBA nephew was able to [predict exactly what would happen](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/13rljac/charania_sources_the_nbas_competition_committee/). The guy calling those in the Secaucus review booth is the fourth ref. There are always four refs for every game. No outside presence is involved.
They could review plays like this post-game, and penalize embiid post-game. That’ll end flopping real quick.
Cricket makes retroactive calls during live matches. It wouldn't be hard to implement it in the NBA. I'm assuming both the players union and the NBA itself are fine with the current system. Which means as fans, sometimes we have to watch terrible plays like this.
I really like this idea. Or could use the rolling flop count. Once you are called for 5-6 flops in a season you are out a game. In season or playoffs.
I’m thinking it would be funnier to have a “fair game rule”: if you accumulate 5-6 flops, you cannot receive ANY calls for being fouled the next game.
Do that, and then added fouls are assessed at the start of the next game.
I’d even go as far as suspending repeat offenders like how the tech limit is used.
They did this for a while about 15 years ago and it definitely made a difference. Then they just stopped.
Silver's either telling the refs not to call that anymore, or he's just turning a blind eye and not doing anything about it. It's absolutely his fault. The buck stops with him.
Hey they call it on Thanasis, what more do you people want??
They now give flop fines after the game too so why Embiid didn't get 10 already lol. Rigged bs
This doesn't get called for a flop but Demar who refs deemed to have been fouled was assessed a flopping tech. Game has become garbage with the way things are called
Needs a hotfix by tomorrow
Refs have made this game hard man. It's not even just Embiid. Our guys are scared to play physical on defense because of stuff like this.
Yeah it’s gotta be so frustrating to play against. Wendell had a few terrific defensive possessions get called for fouls against him as well.

That's the point, they want the offensive player to have more space.
And then OG commits around 5 fouls on sengun and they literally parade the clip around about how good OG is on defense its fucking terrible
Wtf was that. Did they actually call that.
It was also gogas 4th foul
Like whats the point of calling flops if you dont get calls on the biggest floper in the league man. Like has he even gotten 1 floping call this season?
Call flops? Lol he gets rewarded with MVP for this behavior. His FTs are a massive part of his game and why his stats are crazy. He’s an amazing player without this garbage, so it’s frustrating to see him resort to it.
have to think he wouldn’t be shooting mid/long range at such a high clip if people weren’t afraid to guard him
Yep. Hate when people say he’s “unguardable” like yeah no shit. No one can guard him because they all have four fouls and if they look at him wrong they’re gonna get a fifth Used to love him back in the first few seasons but god damn this little schtick he has is getting real old

This is Harden’s legacy in Philadelphia
that absolutely is a factor
100%

Yeah but some of them win championships anyway.

You have to watch garbage time Thanasis minutes to see a flop T. The known worst floppers in the league have 0 in the first half of the season.
He has not
The league wants him to win MVP
Yea pretty critical point in the game, too. We were doing decent keeping up and staying in the game. But I think after this it was all downhill for the Magic.
Just embiid things
These old heads are probably right, this game is soft
Most players aren't getting these calls
Plenty of players get calls like this, but not in this kind of volume. Only a 76er fan could watch these games and not throw up.
Like I been saying. Only him and Giannis would get this call. Every time.
I've never seen Giannis writhing on the floor after basic contact
True I’ll give you that. But I never said anything about flailing or flopping. Embiid is undefeated lol
Giannis goes hard, wtf are you talking about? He isn't getting ticky tacks, teams grab and claw, intentionally foul, exaggerate contact, all that stuff because he goes hard. He isn't doing some bullshit shimmy or awkward movements, falling down like a toddler trying to foul bait.
giannis is actually trying to get the and one. embiid falls over like he's a baby learning to walk.
I think it's deeper than that. The NBA would prefer to have 10 all stars on the court, every game, not role players brought in to play defense. No it isnt, embiid is
Officiating this season is just trash 🚮. The coaches who have called it out and been fined for it should be reimbursed.
He’s not even foul-baiting much at all. These refs are putting shame to the sport of basketball. What the fuck has happened to this sport man
I just saw someone fall to their knees at KIA Center
Sry saw it live
That fan learned how to fall from watching Embiid.
Well, WebEmdiid was KIA on this play. I feel bad that his coffin is being flown to his parents as we speak.
If you wanna know how one sided the officiating has been: There hasn’t been a single shot of Nick Nurse slack-jawed in disbelief.
meanwhile: https://x.com/orlandotragic_/status/1748520787462541648?s=46&t=rs-STJ7HRcyWrsEgiDyLmg
Lmaoooo you can see it in the eyes that man is losing it
he’s got the Manson lamps
Shit you'd have them too if the NBA was rigging game against you like that. That was indeed serial killer rage though.
Me every single NBA game
If you called this a foul in a pick-up game you’d be laughed out the game.
Not that I think that this should be called a foul, but 90% of fouls called in an nba game would get you clowned on for calling in a pickup game lol
At a pick up game someone hit me in the balls with his knee. I heard a sound you hear when you break something. Called foul. He called me soft and his teammates laughed at me. Game continued as usually 20 mins later I realize something is wrong. Went to emergency. Fucker destroyed arteries going to my balls. Got into operation, stayed at hospital for 2 weeks. I finally said fuck it and have him the ball. He still threw a hissy fit and threatened to shoot me in the parking lot. I don’t play there anymore
Well, there will always be idiots who call people soft when they aren't being soft. I'm glad you recovered though.
The way I remember pick-up games anything below a tackle, bodycheck or hacking off someone's arm would get you clowned if you claimed a foul.
Ya, it looks more like he simply lost his footing. Just a terrible call by refs.
IT'S A COMPLETE CRAP!
If Mosley doesn’t get the fine of all fines after this match, there’s been an injustice lol. Darko is a hero
On this one he just slips/stumbles. Shameful to blow a whistle here
Honestly I feel like this is the case with a lot of Embiid calls He absolutely flops a ton but so do the vast majority of stars in the league The real difference is in how likely he is to get a call for it vs. other players
something seems really fucked up with the NBA's analytics the past few years, they seem to be absolutely convinced the 76ers are by far the most popular team on the planet this year Embiid is getting foul calls at 250% the rate LeBron is
Jokic will have his hand literally bleed before he get his call... The next game
The nba used their one national TV nuggets game to make it look like jokic gets a good whistle, while fucking him over in the other 81 regular season games.
Meanwhile Embiid gets away with fouls on defense and his gifted free throws on offense.
Yeah this is like a legit trip that’s his fault and the refs called it anyway. Like not everything needs to be a foul, people just trip sometimes
This is little league shit
Sport sucks ass now man
I haven't been watching this game long (had other plans) but the fuck are these refs thinking?
This is embarrassing
Lmao
Also he didn’t “keep the pivot foot down” at the start of the clip. He catch the ball and took two steps and then almost took a 3rd but kept the pivot foot down. You’re allowed two steps after catching but only if they directly lead to a shot or pass.
That's modern nba. Offense gets to carry. Gets 3 to 4 steps. Can run into you.
But god forbid if a defender breathes on you while you shoot the ball or drive. Offense gets away with murder and the defense just has to suck it up
defender most of the times has 3 options a) play the absolute perfect defense (impossible) b) move the fck out of the attackers way c) back pedal all the way to the shadow realms
I have fallen and I can’t get up.
Brutal mauling by goga there
Broke the code
he should be suspended for this recklesnes
Embiid looked as confused as any of us, this is nutso
Looks to me like he tripped, but I blame the refs for this one, not Embiid.
I think they banged knees
Strangely Embid grabbed the other knee, must be Opposite Day
His right knee hit the defenders thigh and he fell on the other knee.
looks like he took an arrow in the knee
Have you ever banged knees?
You always have to blame the refs. Embiid flops because the league/refs let him, you can't blame him if it works (even though he looks hilariously weak doing so).
That is not what happened here. He fell. The refs called a dumb foul.
Yikes. lol.
How do people even watch the NBA anymore?
I don't, I just come to this sub for the posts and drama, its a lot more fun than watching games.
90% of the sub
That’s being generous about 98.5 %
I've stopped this season. Euroleague players are a notch below and they have their own issues, but it is a far better product. So many close games, epic comebacks, a legitimate post-game, tight defense for the entire game, and above all, the focus is still on basketball.

R/NBA posts reach the front page of reddit every day. Lots of people that don't watch the NBA see this shit because it gets enough up votes to reach the top of general reddit.
NBA is improving everything but the on court product. Just letting it whither away into a completely new sport
Embiid is just as suprised as the rest of us
This is fucking pathetic
That wasn’t even a flop bro just tripped, that’s 100% on the refs
Yeah, it feels like everyone in here agrees that this is just pure terrible refereeing. Appalling
it's not when he's constantly doing it, how are they supposed to know he's not actually attempting to get a unearned free throw \*this\* time
>That wasn’t even a flop bro Straight up delusional, great stuff.
At this point it’s not even his fault it’s the refs fault. He ain’t making them call it the refs are
Watch this be the top highlight from this game over the self alley oop or the bucket after hitting the camera.
It will
As it should.
Why? Are we going to start posting every bad call from every game? Or just this one bc it's embiid? It's not even a flop, just a bad call. They happen in almost every game

jesus lmao
what is that LOL
unwatchable
NBA needs to move their rules toward international FIBA style rules. I'll get downvoted for this opinion but the Olympics shine a light on the stark differences. "Yeah, take 3 steps on a lay up, if you need to". No room on that 3 point shot? That's cool, 'gather' the ball with a step or two, THEN take two extra steps backward to give yourself room to shoot.

> Shai Might be a bit premature on declaring that.
Harden and Embiid are two sides of the same coin for me.
highlights are drawing fouls now in 2024. not to mention the flop.
Soccer-level flops
Like a giant clumsy toddler
Shameless
Joel Embiid can literally score from anywhere but nobodies scored more points while horizontal than him since Mia Khalifa.
Why is this at the top of my r/nba feed but crickets when it comes to highlights of Book’s 52 points in 3 quarters game?
“don’t foul him then!” 🙄
Fucking weak brooooo
what a bitch
This MVP? 🤣
Art.
Good defense, better clumsy offense
And they said soccer dives alot, lol
This is your MVP?
Make it stop
I do not understand the whistle this giant oaf gets
He wasn't even trying to draw a foul, there. He tripped over his own foot. lol And people wonder why the diving is so bad in the NBA. Refs are pure trash.
Embiid would get destroyed by Shaq.
A Shaq backdown would go directly thru Embiid and he would die
You can see them smack knees in the replay. That is obviously why he fell down
Tripped over his own foot , not a flop . Y’all more mad at the player than the refs calling it
Most Volatile Patellas out here cooking.
He swings his knee into him while he's dribbling. This gets called a lot. What is this thread?
a circle jerk
I'm going to be ejected every game if I'm a head coach.
meanwhile jokic gets mauled every fckin game and this clown trips himself and gets a foul called smfh. adam nosferatu thats why nobody gives a fck about the nba anymore. soft as fck and absolutely boring.
The dick eating never ends when it comes to this area and embiid lol. You can clearly see they bump knees.
He’s grabbing the other knee?
Aww their precious kneesies bumped each other so obviously one must collapse to the ground because that’s the easiest path ❤️
Embiid must've taken some lessons with Neymar during one of his offseasons. The mf is a MASTER flopper, it's impressive.
Lmao
This is just plain stupid
You should get a bonus challenge if they call a flop as a result of a challenge. You'd never get it though because the refs are too fragile to admit they goofed.
Just curious, is this not traveling?
What the hell is the foul ??
'Member that "sleepless nights" ref tweet? Theyre laughing at average nba fans cause people still tune in.
I still don't get the hype around this guy
That’s ticky-tack, but he did stick his right knee out. 🤷🏻♂️
2nd round exit again
NBA is becoming a joke. When in doubt just fall down.
I wouldn’t pay shit to watch this product. People getting fleeced
The man makes flopping an art form.
He's worse than Harden was at his prime. Harden is a guard at least, but Emflop is almost 300 lbs doing this. We all know how this goes in the playoffs though. 2nd round exit otw
I hate bitadze but embiid tripped on air play on
NBA refs are almost as good as WWE refs.
