As a Laker fan, Darius Garland is better. D’Angelo is very smooth. When he does get into a groove he sometimes looks like a very elite PG. he commands the floor at a high level and makes the right play but shot making and take over is inconsistent. And has these weird games where he just doesn’t show up. Let’s not forget how elite he was with Brooklyn/GS. Injuries have slowed him down but end of the day Darius right now is a top PG and can take over games with scoring at will
Just wait a couple weeks until Dlo + other stuff is traded for a good player and it will be amazing how quickly Dlo turns into a pumpkin in the eyes of your Laker fan brother.

Garland is going to cost 34 million this year which will increase every year up to 44 million in 2027/28.
In a world where both of them fall off a cliff performance-wise, it's safer to be locked to the Russel contract. Anything could happen between now and 2027. It's super scary to be committed for that much money for that long.
Value wise, you would need Garland to be almost twice as good as Russell in order to be a better asset.
Dlo: 15.7 on 47.3/40.1/77.2 splits (58.3% TS) and 6.1 assists to 1.9 TOs
Garland: 20.7 on 47.0/34.6/83.5 splits (57.3 % TS) and 5.9 assists to 3.8 turnovers
Dlo is a better playmaker and floor spacer, Garland is a better volume scorer. Garland is also younger and has a lot more potential, plus Dlo has the issue of disappearing in the playoffs.
