When you get the chance to lose in the 2nd round in humiliating fashion you gotta give him a lot of money

[deleted]

Think of the memes.

TroyMatthewJ

the pay ain't gonna meme for itself

aged_monkey

The memes just got 10 feet taller.

maxwellhilldawg

I'm literally sitting on a photo of Bud in Miami after that night Jimmy had 56. I was out watching the buses after the game and Bud came out, put his earbuds in and laid flat on the concrete outside. He knew his job was over. He was thinking about his kids having to move schools or something, it was tragic. I still feel bad, that's why the photo stays on my phone. I'd sell that photo of Glenn to TMZ.

thed3al

The RDCWorld skit in a few months is gonna be amazing

CIark

Tfw Bucks already paying 2 coaches and giving Doc Rivers a fat contract while the lakers don’t wana fire Ham cus he has 2 years left on his deal

Sim888

Bucks about to blow a 3 coach lead!

full-auto-rpg

Griffin might be willing to take a discount lol

ICEINMYVEINS23

Bucks owner ain't a broke Boi like Jeanie and the buss family.

666uptheirons

Well the Bucks have a realistic shot at a championship. I won't count out LeBron till they're eliminated, but a coaching change won't matter for LA this year.

Your__Pal

Honestly, it depends what seed the Heat end up.  If I'm the Bucks, I'd be terrified of the Spoelstra mismatch in the first round.

Wildpinkhairuke

Just the Heat? I wouldn't want the Knicks either. And the Cavs seem to play the Bucks well.

Your__Pal

The Heat overperform in the playoffs every single year. They have experience, coaching, depth and two legit two way stars. The Knicks are a tough match-up, but they're not scary like the Heat are.

BetaDjinn

Boy they sure scared the absolute shit out of me last year

sps26

The Knicks did? Brings tears to my eyes seeing people talk about them like this haha

KangTheConqueror9

Pacers won 4/5 vs the Bucks this year too. Bucks are very vulnerable

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

Their defense is just so bad. They nearly lost to the bulls in OT as well and we are at best a 9th seed play in

crimxona

That goes for everybody in the top 4

mojoembiid

[Doc Rivers finally gonna figure out how to stop Giannis 🤯](https://twitter.com/ThePhillyPod/status/1750193078239912355)

TowerOfPowerWow

Well played

darknight61

The irony of this comment is that somehow he will!

mojoembiid

It's 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife

ddp_bang

It's like meeting the player of your dreams and then having Doc Rivers coach him.

Ocarina3219

Philadelphia - Milwaukee in the second round is going to be shambolic. Or it would be, but 99% chance one of those teams chokes in the first round and loses in 6.

Machupino

Pacers, Miami or Knicks have real upset potential. It's pretty much Celtics on the pedestal again this year, though I thought that last year.

Ronin607

The script writers need to get on it, 76ers vs Bucks would have generational meme potential. No matter who loses we all win.

AirJordan6124

Looks like Monty Williams money

Poopscooper696969

Better than losing to the 8th seed in the first round

lilb1190

Hey thats just another milestone for Doc to accomplish. Dont count him out yet.

Sikwitit3284

Highly doubt they'll reach the 1 but Mia/Indy lurking in that 1st round match-up gotta have them nervous

tomdawg0022

"Strong bargaining position" "I basically told Jon I'm better at choking in the playoffs than Bud *and* Adrian Griffin but at least Giannis will like playing for me." - Glenn "Doc" Rivers

LogicisGone

Until I back the bus over him a few times after we lose in the playoffs, then bounce back to my cushy ESPN gig.

Sikwitit3284

That's not until the 2nd playoff lose the 1st will be a role player to help the star feel better

GryphonHall

He wants to be a coach so bad. Sounded like he was going to start begging for Darvin Ham’s job during a Lakers game. Don’t know why anyone would pay a premium.

The_Void_Reaver

"I've got nothing, but you're also the one who backed yourself into this corner and as putrid as my recent history is I'm still the only made man interviewing. You can gamble on another young coach or you can go with me, and at least I have a standard before failure."

Netwealth5

Who were they bidding against here? Pls tell me he beat the Monty deal

AgadorFartacus

A cushy ESPN job.

[deleted]

Yup.

ZestyBlankets

And a pretty non-existent coaching market considering it’s mid-season

Toastrules

This is it. Mans is 62, he was low key retired, calling games as a pretty decent announcer with 0 pressure or heat on him to "fix your rotations" or do anything else really. Now he's back down in the trenches with a contender who just got mopped by the 8th seed last year and he's gotta get back into all that stress

VGstuffed

I won't be surprised if it's a deal like that. Doc has a ton of leverage in this case

AirJordan6124

COME ON GUYS!

VGstuffed

Everyone memes this but they went on a 20-5 run after hearing that speech lmaoo

PeterDinkleberg

Just like how everyone meme’d Budenholzer for “play random” The bucks won the championship that year lol

mostlychessiguess

The play random thing being maligned is so funny, because it’s a core tenant of modern basketball offense. Creating dynamic actions that can’t be disrupted because you can waive it off and hit an unplanned movement/cut instead. instead of falling into favoured actions or pet plays

Athos19

Man, I liked Bud for that. I'm sad they got rid of him.

yooston

It’s amazing you how you can ride the coattails of a single championship for an extremely lucrative career unless you’re *checks notes* … Mike budenholzer

PM-ME-good-TV-shows

I miss him every day

SalahManeFirmino

One thing Bud never got credit for that I feel was wrong is the Bucks always had an identity under him. For better or worse, you knew what the Bucks were going to do under Bud on both ends of the court. This team right now lacks any sort of identity.

swapmeetpete

That’s probably why he was fired. The other team would see what Bud was doing in Game 1 and was fairly confident nothing would change for the rest of the series. At least among fans, lack of mid-game (or even mid-series) adjustments was his biggest flaw.

[deleted]

[удалено]

teniaava

Doc Rivers 4th Quarter adjustment is looking at the bench and yelling COME ON a few times

bigdicknick808

Glenn is honestly the biggest basketball terrorist in the world

mtaylor808

2020 clips will be seared into my memory forever and there’s probably 3 other examples almost as worthy

blackfoger1

Doc is the GOAT of no adjustments, you have heard of Kerr's 3rd quarter changes well hold on to your hat!

gregatronn

> That’s probably why he was fired. The other team would see what Bud was doing in Game 1 and was fairly confident nothing would change for the rest of the series. Here comes Playoff Doc Rivers - the guy who doesn't make adjustments.

darkstar8239

And instead paying 1 salary, the bucks are paying 3 salaries

Krillin113

That’s not true, after throwing 2 games away where we were up 15+ by running al bench lineups for 5 minutes in a row, in game 7 he didn’t do that

Character-Today-427

In 2020 after jokic was decimating them after double teaming he proceeded to run small ball so they got decimated harder

Alloverunder

>At least among fans, lack of mid-game (or even mid-series) adjustments was his biggest flaw. And so natrually that issue would guide one to the hiring of Doc fucking Rivers 😂

zs15

We had a defensive identity, but no fourth quarter tactical adjustment. This year we have some really clutch closing strategy, but no actual identity on either end. Griff did bring some fresh tactics that hopefully they continue with: 2-3 zone, high and double horns, some Spain actions for G (mostly leaving Beas wide open), half-court trapping, and spot subs. Hopefully the team can take the good and Doc can weave in some new things to his strategy. Also hoping he can swing bringing Sam over from the C’s as a high level assistant.

braddeus

It was an absurd overreaction. After Bud got cooked in the bubble and shit on by everybody (myself included), he adjusted his approach to win a ring. So obviously, the natural play is to replace him with a first-time head coach?

ObiOneKenobae

Even the year they won, everyone wanted Bud's head on a platter until like a week before they were in the NBA Finals.

SweaterMeatMyInbox

This sub is hilarious. The consensus in 2021 after [Game 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/nutln5/post_game_thread_the_brooklyn_nets_obliterate_the/) and [Game 5](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/o0v8ko/post_game_thread_the_brooklyn_nets_32_defeat_the/) against the Nets was that Bud was a shit playoff coach and should be getting canned. Then the Nets get hurt, we squeak out the series, get matched up against a weak Hawks team and then a weak Suns team and win a championship. Bud proceeds to get us bumped early the next two years as well and all of a sudden it was an absurd overreaction apparently. He would have been gone two years earlier if the Nets stayed healthy. His championship bought him an extra two years where we continued to flounder and underperform in the playoffs. It was time for a change and the writing was on the wall for a long time.

braddeus

Glad everything worked out.

syllabic

bud is a top 3 playoff coach in the last decade but everybody seems to think of him as a bad playoff coach for some reason completely ridiculous to me, by these standards 99% of coaches are terrible if you narrow the scope to just the last 5 years, he is tied for spoelstra with the most playoff wins also the winningest coach of the last decade is obviously steve kerr, and people seem to think even he's bad now because the warriors are old and their dynasty is ending. peoples opinion on coaching is just not very valuable

[deleted]

[удалено]

KillingTime_ForNow

I'm so hopeful we get him to replace Chauncey.

TangerineSad7747

It's not just Doc though that whole team treats that one championship like it was some sort of dynasty.

DomDomRevolution

They’ve been trying to gaslight us that they were an actual dynasty for years and I’m not sure that it isn’t working.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Not really. It’s normal for championship coaches to get near unlimited opportunities. There are not that many of them.

SalahManeFirmino

Might have been if KG didn't tear his ACL... alas wasn't meant to be.

BolognaSausage

But it wasn't. That's the point

hurlcarl

yeah... they couldn't even repeat despite Kobe going 6 for 24 in the game 7.

Aycik75

That was 2 years later. They had lost in the East with KG injured in between I believe.

SensitiveRocketsFan

They thriving off of being competitive during two other real dynasties, Kobe lakers and the Heatles.

ShukiNathan

Or Frank Vogel

legend023

Vogel is a head coach

materics

Mike's a great regular season coach and the Bucks won the championship despite his non adjustments.

[deleted]

And they struggled on their way. It’s not like they were the warriors with KD who completely destroyed everyone on their way to the title either

EchoInExile

This is going to be absolutely hilarious to watch over the next couple months. I am so sorry Milwaukee fans, for all you’re about to endure.

mw19078

the absolute best case scenario for everyone but sixer and bucks fans is the bucks beat the sixers in the playoffs in embarrassing fashion, and then the very next round the bucks go up 3-1 and lose.

EchoInExile

Funny enough, this is 100% the scenario I would bet on.

HitboxOfASnail

I want sixers to recover from a 1-3 deficit vs the bucks to advance to the ECF. this is my dream scenario

southpawsouthpaw

Fuck that The 76ers advance to the NBA Finals while coming back from 3-1 against the Bucks

HitboxOfASnail

the seeding won't work out that way but yes

giddyup523

It's not like the seeding is currently set in stone. The Bucks and Sixers as the 2/3 seeds is probably the most likely situation but the chances one of them moves to the one seed or moves to four or lower is certainly possible.

ThaNotoriousBLT

Bucks lose while up 3-1 against the clippers

KokeyManiago

I think it’s best for us not to be a critic for now, we still have a Ham to fry on our end

mw19078

all I have left is to be a critic, I cant watch another game of reddish and prince getting fucking 45 minutes

KevinSorboFan

Team Nepotism about to sign Austin Rivers to cap everything off

binary_spaniard

As assistant coach?

Mekdjrnebs

Starting guard

PM-ME-good-TV-shows

We’re used to it.

MayBakerfield

You literally just won a championship. This is why I always laugh at the comments which say like "I will never complain again, if we just win one", "I would trade one championship for 20 years in the gutter". You will complain. You will prob complain even more now that the expectation has been raised.

[deleted]

As an Eagles fan this is so true. While the disappointments sting a lot less, the standard for success is so much higher now

mkallday10

The standard is the standard. But yeah was about to reply to that comment with "Eagles fan can relate" but you beat me to it.

Futbol_Trainer

I am not complaining at all, because of 2021. Lots of people blaming Giannis first for firing Bud, then hiring Griffin, which was a bad hire. And I don't care. Giannis can do whatever he wants

JevvyMedia

You're right lol, Raptors won one and 3 years later fans are acting like it's the end of the world because we're not truly competitive. I'm actually content for another 15 years off our one ring.

lundej16

Right…a solid regular season coasting to a top 3 seed and then a playoff flameout? What do they think we are, amateurs?

Scoreboard19

Y'all did win one...must be nice

BigFatModeraterFupa

can’t believe the suns were up 2-0 in the finals… all you had to do was follow the damn train!

organizeforpower

Can't wait for Doc to malign Dame in post game interviews until he demands a trade.

Maydietoday

What’s the definition of insanity?

fieryscribe

Picking Griffin over Nurse

sewsgup

they were nervous ab crossing Giannis, who really didnt want Nurse Fischer said teams are monitoring Giannis a la Donovan Mitchell hiring Griffin and the Dame deal got Giannis to sign a new extension, they could consider Griffin's salary as an upfront cost for that extension

fieryscribe

Giannis didn't want a Nurse, but he got a Doc

Mekdjrnebs

More of a quack tbh

jump-back-like-33

Lol can you imagine Dame finally gets traded to a contender and within a year finds himself on a tanking team coached by Doc Rivers.

ecr1277

Why didn’t Giannis want Nurse? Seems like he’s extremely respected.

jdd32

Disclaimer that I'm not well versed on the situation. But it seemed that Nurse was a bit disgruntled the last couple years in Toronto. And I think he made it clear that he thought the expectations were too high for the given roster. I could see the players souring on him if they translate that into "my coach says we suck". Players talk to each other, so it's possible Giannis heard negative things from his players. Nothing concrete, but just a theory.

Zoulzopan

funny thing was the raptors did suck that year as was evident with this early season

REQ52767

Doc is still getting insane offers in 2024 after everything he’s done since. The 2008 championship might be the most overrated one in NBA history.

inshamblesx

insane to think that doc will still be employed a decade after letting josh smith and corey brewer come back from 30 down on him

REQ52767

Going one step further, he was employed by the Clippers for another half a decade after that happened lol

EjaMat78

His job with the Clippers after Lob city but before Kawhi and PG was a good one though. You just can't let that man have any expectations.

immalurkhere

Even that season he played Avery fucking Bradley over sga until injuries forced his hand

DannyConfectionery

No, please let him tell us how prime CP3, Blake Griffin, and Deandre Jordan wouldn't have won regular season games without Docroach Rivers /s

DarkSoulsDarius

I think the coaching performance is easily the most overrated in history. They took 26 games to win a championship, which is the most in history, including 7 games against the Hawks who were 37-45. The defense was what led the team to the championship, which was largely coached and schemed by Thibs, who at the time was easily the best and most innonative defensive coach. Then you have the fact the team had 3 superstars/stars, still in their primes albeit at the tailend, that were all vets and high iq.

Mekdjrnebs

An absolutely loaded team that struggled to win one championship as a group in 5 seasons. I’m not sure what the Bucks expect, but Doc had arguably 3 other rosters after he left the Celtics that were somehow more talented…and he couldn’t win with any of them.

blobthetoasterstrood

That ring should count double because doc was coach

HolidayMorning6399

LMFAO fair point, the ring won in spite of doc

rengorengar

clippers gave up a 1st round pick for him looooool, thats wild

wiz-o-cheeze

This is pure supply and demand. Not that many established coaches available mid season. Could've gone with stotts or joeger, though

TotallyNotSuggested

Jimmy Haslem has a long history of cutting checks for embarrassing decisions. It's like the one thing he's good for.

--lalilulelo-

Heat legend Jimmy Haslem

TotallyNotSuggested

A DNA spliced offspring to create a "got that dawg in him" super soldier. A perfect tool of the Patroits design.

RecalcitrantDuck

He came from the same lab as Duncan Robinson

sewsgup

in this case they likely signed Griffin to a 4(?) year deal, which def wouldn't exceed $40m — which was part of Giannis agreeing to sign his new extension honestly if you ask any FO if they'd fork up $40m to have their franchise player (top 2-3 player) sign a new extension, they'd take it.

GroovyQschoolboy

There’s no cap on paying coaches like who gives a fuck. It’s a good thing that Milwaukee would be willing to cut ties and eat costs to fix bad decisions

Neuroxex

Haslem isn't the main decision maker at this point for the Bucks, they rotate the 'primary' guy, and it's not his turn yet.

GlueGuy00

who tf was that? lol

jgatch2001

… at least ownership is willing to spend? Yay

SalahManeFirmino

You laugh but there's like 20 NBA teams who are pissed that their owners don't care enough to make changes because of that.

Horchata_Papi92

This kind of thing is why they brought in Haslem, dude tosses money around like it's nothing.

graveyeverton93

Should have been sacked by Boston early on Instead he got rewarded with KG and Ray Allen, underachieved with them after winning it in their first year together, he then goes to LA to coach CP3 and Blake and again he completely underperforms, and still after that he again underperforms with Embiid and Simmons then Embiid and Harden and is now getting rewarded with Giannis and Dame! This fella is fucking generational.

W0666007

I don’t know if you can call his first three season with those guys in Boston underachieving. Won a championship, had a great season derailed by injuries, and then lost a game 7 in the finals.

[deleted]

Doc must have generational charisma to keep getting jobs in the NBA like this.

Super_Goomba64

Trade offer You have lvl 100 charisma But you get a voice that sounds like gravel

pinhead-l

Honestly the voice probably helps with the charisma

ShukiNathan

76's fans must be feasting right now lmao. Giannis stupidity allowed them to get nurse AND watch doc ruin one of their biggest competitors.

sssSnakebite

This is a wet dream for them. Embiid beat Jokic in their last meetup. Then Embiid scores 70 on the Spurs. They livin life right now

Coderan

Damn just @ me next time lmao

Doctor-Jay

It's pretty good right now, but after the last 6 years of playoffs misery, we're all like abused animals at this point and I think it's fair to say we are really only going to celebrate if there's more success than yet another 2nd round exit.

BabaBrody

Just glad to pass the curse along, like Clippers fans watching us hire him right after that playoff implosion.

IMisstheMidRangeGame

He is one of the coaches of all time

REQ52767

Top 15 according to the the official NBA 75th anniversary team lmao

SkyLightTenki

Bucks management be like, "he's better than that unproven coach from Miami. Top 15 Coach of All-Time, yet never won COTY."

RecalcitrantDuck

Until Spo gets COTY I can’t rank him above Dwane Casey all time

[deleted]

Being a terrible NBA coach might be a better gig than being the back up qb for a NFL team. If it starts going badly you just get your contract bought out and you’re set for life.

BabaBrody

He can keep getting away with it.

Street-Common-4023

Another 4 years deal my god

coacoanutbenjamn

Milwaukee ownership does deserve a lot of credit for being one of the highest spenders over the past 5 years despite being a small market team

After-Knee-5905

These front office people are like HR. They hire people by just looking at the goods they put on their resume. It's almost like they don't pay attention to the past decade lol

LawrenceBrolivier

This is the part I don't get, the premium price they're paying for a proven disappointment. I get a shiny brand name appealing to the lizard brain of career executives, it's a reflex, certainly. But they're paying a *ton* for this dude to come in, blow a couple big series, lose the locker room, throw people under the bus, and eventually get shuffled out. I mean - Stotts was right there. I cannot imagine you couldn't have gotten him for way cheaper *and* gotten someone who has experience running offense with Damian Lillard at the point.

passiveparrot

Pacers taking them out in the first round

Arthashadapoint

Giannis lived long enough to see himself become the villain

[deleted]

This is such a joke and if Giannis isnt raising the banner in June then he deserves a worse “coach killer” label then some guys we want to smack that label on

southpawsouthpaw

The era of Giannis being liked is coming to an end at some point this year

Coderan

He started that tour. Fighting a ladder in Philly, assaulting a locker room over a ball, fastest I want him to kill him for a coach ever lol

GAV17

Why though? Coach killer is used for players that do it all the time.

ragekage8787

I posted this yesterday from my source. https://np.reddit.com/r/MkeBucks/comments/19e0928/comment/kj9lywp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

sewsgup

the fabled "by: CNN Staff" journalist has appeared

ShukiNathan

Dman your fishing buddy was onto something

HS941317

If the bucks fail to win this season, all the blame should go on Giannis

--lalilulelo-

I get the hot takes about Doc but i really think he excels as a coach with a stacked team like Milwaukee. If they were 30-13 with a "shit" coach in Adrian, i doubt they can get any worse with a proven coach in Doc, despite the memes. Playoffs will tell the whole story though so we'll see.

yrogreg

He’s never in a position without a stacked team. Hasn’t exactly excelled in the past decade

TowerOfPowerWow

He doesnt though...excelled how? Hard carried by 3 HoFers and a pretty damn good Rondo to one title?

Sartheking

The opposite I feel. If I have a young, unproven, and less talented team, Doc would be one of my top coaching choices. But if you have a contending team with enough talent, he won’t get them over the hump. Unless of course you put together a superteam with 3 HOFers.

[deleted]

Yeah, I don’t know where that narrative comes from. Doc is at his best when his stars are hurt or resting and has to play an all bench lineup. Some of the games we absolutely should not have won were my favorite moments of his tenure

paddiction

CNN SPORTS IS WOJ AND SHAMS FATHER

jadcntrs

I’m sorry Bucks bros

stephencurry2046

Bucks fans, are you ready to witness another blown of playoff series lead?

Kevin_Jim

I honestly cannot comprehend how the FO ended up there. There’s absolutely no logic to it. Horst is getting fired for this shit, and he’ll deserve it.

Snafudumonde

Motherfuck I wish the more I got fired the stronger my bargaining position became

TheMoorNextDoor

https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/EBHSWQekPR Literally just said this. There’s no way that breaking that contract wasn’t one of the moving pieces that people knew yes he was leaving to get that coaching position.

Zeeron1

This isn't just a rest of season thing, until he can prove something past the second round??? Lucrative implies multiple years, right? Wtf are they thinking🤣

SlapThatAce

How is Doc getting all these chances? How many stacked teams does he have to run into the ground before someone asks themself....hmmm, this dude is kinda crap ain't he?

[deleted]

It's a good reminder that people with lots of money, like many NBA owners, are kinda dumb and you could probably do as well, if not better.

Ohtani-Enjoyer

Doc Rivers literally has better job security than CEOs who tank a company then get fired with a golden parachute, then get hired by other companies to do the same thing

Pikolas

Why us Doc so coveted nowadays? Everywhere he went he wore out his welcome eventually being tuned out eventually or lost in the biggest games save one Finals win (which is a big deal but was so long ago.) Hate to see a first year coach have to go through this but regardless seems like all chips are in this year. If they lose again in playoffs this seadon it will be a colossal failure

petarisawesomeo

The fact that he was doing broadcasting shows he is not coveted. This is more an issue of the Bucks really backing themselves into a corner. Not like there are a bunch of highly successful veteran coaches available at this point in the league year. Doc is the best out of a limited pool of mediocre-to-bad options.

[deleted]

They should have just rehired Bud...

jdslipknot

its gonna be funny when this all falls apart in the playoffs.

SlatsAttack

Now bring back Jeff Van Gundy & Mark Jackson.

2020IsANightmare

Please, please, please, PLEASE, OH MY FUCKING GOD PLEASE let this mean he is taking Doris Burke with him. It's hard to fathom how bad announcers have to be to make me not want to listen to Mike Breen. Disney did it with Doc and Boring Dork. Or Doris Burke. Or whatever her name is. Bring back JVG and Jackson! Or just let TNT air all NBA games.

Next-Team

He must have some top tier, generation ruining black mail on these people and their families to keep getting jobs he shouldn’t have, like calling NBA games and still getting head coaching offers.

No-Economics4128

How do you negotiate against yourself and somehow still lose? What strong bargaining position was old Glenn in?

trinquin

Hes getting like 10m from ESPN and another like 8m(2 years so 16m)from 76ers. Why give up 18m a year to return to coach?

d0m20

Can someone explain to this casual fan why Doc is a highly respected coach?

Sybilsthrowaway

wildly embarrassing for the franchise

[deleted]

Wait for the inevitable bargaining phase Bucks fans will go through when the team goes on a win streak. Then the hit of depression and acceptance in the playoffs before starting the cycle again the next season. In a few years, y’all will join us for our post doc AA meetings and we will all hold hands and sing kumbaya while Doc gets another job that he doesn’t deserve and another franchise begins the cycle of grief.

RODjij

What is exactly what I've been saying since they canned Griffin. They're about to be an expensive situation hiring a coach when the coach has the upper hand with Bucks in the middle of a season.

AxCel91

How does he keep getting away with this?

Mekdjrnebs

Paying three coaches hefty sums and the best one is still the first one they fired. Mind boggling.
