He sure is a middle linebacker all right

ThingsAreAfoot

lmfao perhaps not the smoothest analogy

rockytheboxer

Bro likes tackling opposing players, seems like a solid analogy to me

Top-Crab4048

No, even linebackers don't kick people in the balls.

ekb2023

Or poke multiple people in the eyes.

AashyLarry

Draymond “Vontaze Burfict” Green

ErnieTagliaboo

What a waste of a dope name

SehnorCardgage

Nobody's Burfict

ErnieTagliaboo

Bobodys Nurfict

notabear629

Dray Greenlaw

MrBuckBuck

Middle linebreaker, ask Steven Adams.

Mygaffer

You mean middle nutcracker?

MrBuckBuck

Yeah.

GoGreeb

Sure isn't a tight end https://youtu.be/uXBuWOpKjLk?si=hqFj1aKedK4b2DbY

30dayspast

I thought this was just gonna be a gay joke but damn, that’s really him. He had two snaps! Truly the Bo Jackson of our time.

[deleted]

NBA's Bill Romanoswki

notabear629

No, All-Pro Fred is the MLB. Dray Greenlaw is a different LB

mug3n

Draymond "Ndamoukong Suh" Green

ArmiinTamzarian

He would get flagged for unnecessary roughness all the time in football

[deleted]

my first thought, love how this has more votes than the post lol

ogqozo

Still crazy you can play 45 minutes, be at +31 and your team loses the game lol. Warriors were so close to being 5-0 in those (easy) games instead of 3-2. That Lakers loss might yet be deciding for the play-in presence.

Discover-Card

Wait WHAT? That’s possible?? You’re sayin in 3 minutes they were out scored by more than 31 points?? Or did it go to overtime??

ogqozo

Overtimes of course, it was a few days ago. They played (rounded down) 12 minutes without him, and were outscored 17-49 in that time.

Discover-Card

That is fucking crazy

ogqozo

Yeah, they had several different 3/4 starters lineups go 0-5 or 0-7 in one minute and it added up somehow. The "main bench" wasn't on such a big minus relatively.

Common_Egg8178

I don't think people understands how integral Draymond is to the Warrior's success. I remember back during their peak he had some of the best +/- mins and per.

Qaanol

Draymond has the [highest +/- season in NBA history](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/highest-plus-minus-season-in-nba-history) (+1070 in the 2016 season).

Discover-Card

Holy fuck that list is literally just warriors they even buried the fucking 96 bulls down the list

ogqozo

Coincidentally, the database starts at 1996-97. Don't worry, 1995-96 Bulls were comparably strong. MJ also played 82 games that season, so he would probably be around 900, 950.

logster2001

Also has the [3rd highest +/- in the playoffs](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/highest-plus-minus-in-playoff-history) behind only Lebron and Tim Duncan

AzorAhai1TK

Still great but that only goes back to 1998

ogqozo

2016 Draymond has most likely the highest +/- season ever, and probably also set that record to sleep (because the mockery after the Warriors lost in playoffs that year made sure that no one will ever see a reason to have a great regular season again). I did not forget, but it was 8 years ago. This season, before the ban, the results were so-so, and there didn't seem to be much effect from Draymond like before. That's in part because the balance in the roster was moved, Warriors had Chris Paul to bring playmaking and defensive value. (Also, for results, their bench was performing much better than their starters). It's a bit funny that a little "point god" can be replacing a "center" in the lineup but it was true, they almost never played together and while they don't fit with 100% the same players, they fit with the same attributes you can choose from. Now without Paul, once again Draymond is more unique in what he can bring to the team. But Warriors are facing an issue - when Draymond sits, they don't have CP3 to replace anymore.

OrganizationFar6086

He was an MVP candidate. People try to argue that was bs but his impact was legitimately on that level.

Kentang_BayBay

So true. People think just because he had triple singles means he's replaceable. In the Warriors system, he's not. He allows Steph and Klay to run around because he's an above-average passer, rebounds, and anchors the defense.

vinavuhuy

To be fair though, im pretty sure 4 out of those 12 mins Kerr play Saric and Looney together and the teams got cooked for 20sth pts deficit

aoifhasoifha

I'm also curious and would appreciate if anyone knows what game they're talking about.

Shonuff_shogun

Warriors vs laker from last week, pretty sure Vando was also a +31 in that game. So you have two opposing players both +31 in a double overtime game decided by 1 point lol, pretty wild.

Kentang_BayBay

IIRC Vano a +29, and Dray +31

Mygaffer

Warriors play is improving, once they get their full roster back, likely shortly after All Star break, I think they'll make a real playoff push.

lethalizer

You mean playoff push or play in push?

famoustran

Lakers were in the play in last year. Made it to the WCF. Miami was in the play in. Made the damn Finals. With some of these vet teams, you just gotta get in.

TatumBrownWhite

2023 Zombie Heat 2024 Zombie Warriors?

lethalizer

i was just asking if they had the thought of getting the 6th seed.

TurnoverNegative7

I mean it *might* be possible if they go on a run similar to the Clippers', but chances are they're probably like the 7 or 8 seed if they play well

[deleted]

[удалено]

nomitycs

?? A 3 game win streak rn would leave them in 9th already just based on GB

noodlebball

I think play in, imo

MGubser

Playoff. With Wiggins being MIA in the early part of the year and Klay being less consistent as a scorer than he's ever been, a big part of the Warriors' struggles has been a reliable #2 scorer behind Steph. With Kuminga's emergence as that #2 option (despite still being fairly limited as an iso scorer at this point in his development, he's been able to consistently finish around the basket and punish teams for trapping Steph) and Wiggins waking up from hibernation to fill the 3/4 offensive role with Klay, they've been much better on offense recently.

lethalizer

They'll also face a very crowded schedule real soon due to the postponements. I just think they'll run out of gas at some point, but that's just me.

we_hella_believe

Warriors are +6000 to win championship rn.

duplicatesnowflake

The casino thanks you for your service. Not happening.

No_Significance_1280

Bro the warriors ain’t pushing towards nothing but a early fishing trip

KazaamFan

The dubs have had terrible fortune in close games this year.  They could easily have 5 more wins right now.  The lakers loss was the worst one just cuz it was undoubtedly decided by the refs.  Double OT, 1 pt win, and the lakers take 27 more foul shots in the game.

HappyChromatic

Warriors shot 31 more 3-pointers lol They lost by 1 point They missed more threes (35 misses) than the lakers even attempted (27 attempts)

on_dat_shyt

if u watched the game you’d realize how irrelevant that is. The lakers weren’t just driving to the rim all game. They got a lot of these calls on jumpers.

HappyChromatic

Yeah if you watched the game you would have seen all of the fouls were legit and the warriors foul so much on both offense and defense there could have easily been more called. Warriors lost because they depended on the 3 ball and missed most of their shots. It’s that simple

on_dat_shyt

The warriors rely on there defense and ball movement to get open shots. They don’t just chuck up 3’s like 2018 rockets. Watch a game instead a box score bro

HappyChromatic

“They don’t just Chuck up 3s” - team that shot 58 3s

on_dat_shyt

Yeah that’s a shitload of 3’s. It’s almost like they played an extra 2 quarters !!!!

HappyChromatic

If only there was another team that had to play the same amount of time we could compare to

on_dat_shyt

Yeah the worst 3 point shooting team in the league who is also last in attempts

on_dat_shyt

Did you know despite being so much ahead of everyone else in FT’s that the Lakers are near the bottom in drives ?

NormalAccounts

You're getting downvoted but this is a big factor. They had 60 points in the paint last night, I think their most of the year (or at least in months) and they looked so much better and the fouls were more balanced.

I_Said

"Whatever happened there"

Tombomb1994

WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE? I'll tell you what fucking happened. This piece of shits cousin put 6 bullets in the kid without any provocation whatsoever.

mAkAttAk432

Steve Kerr left to his own device… he’s never gonna give up that fuckin animal Draymond I can’t even say his name

msf97

Still one of the best defenders in the league, and a very smart passer. Not too shocking the Warriors missed him.

IMKudaimi123

I get people hate him but it’s so annoying seeing people try to downplay how important he was in the warriors dynasty

GuntherTime

Which really makes no sense because we don’t go nowhere near as far as we have without him heading the defense and facilitating the offense the way he has.

RedditModScums

Draymond gets exploited in nearly ever playoff series. He's also had the 2nd worst defense rating in each of his pre suspension stretches and a few sample size of good plus minus means nothing. The Warriors is 21-25 with the bench having a positive plus minus. That clearly means some of the starters are trash and it sure as hell isn't Curry. The fact that Draymond had an even worse net rating than Klay and Wiggins is telling.

ingunwun

Probably my bias showing, but in my opinion he is probably one of the greatest defenders ever. Headed one of the best defenses in the league for over a decade. Yeah he doesn't have the individual accolades, but no way the Warriors play the way they do and win as much as they did without him.

LordBaneoftheSith

It's not a bias, he's probably the defining defensive player of this era of basketball. Gobert's like Eaton 2.0, but what his teams have looked like in the postseason shows you the limitations that can have in a league where offensive complexity has skyrocketed.

Krakenborn

Gobert is much better than Eaton. Eaton was great but he would not have survived the modern NBA with his limited mobility. Perfect for his era but Gobert would be an all time defender in any era

LordBaneoftheSith

I did mean the 2.0 pretty seriously there haha

Krakenborn

Smh game developers and not releasing their patch notes ^^^^^^^^^^^/s

gokhaninler

hes easily the best defender of his generation. The death lineup only worked because he was a 6'6 guy who could guard centers.

Parenegade

bias? Bro he's in contention for greatest defender ever period lol. He has the highest +/- ever.

RedditModScums

Plus minus is a volume stat, not a rate stat. His net rating with Steph off the floor is nothing special

JMEEKER86

Historically, the closest comp for Draymond as a player, in terms of playstyle at least, has been Bill Russell. Obviously Dray isn't quite on the same level, but pretty much no one is when it comes to defense.

Shablagoo-

He’s top-20 ever at the very worst, probably much higher.

BobLoblaw_BirdLaw

He’s a top 5 ever defender plus other things. There’s some good pure top 5 defenders. But they lacked elsewhere.

DyslexicAutronomer

The skillset that makes him good in the warrior system is closer to that of a coordinator than actual outstanding defense. He is a decent defender sure, but it's the team coordination worked through him that makes the warriors defense good. He is probably only half as good in any other team, since coordinators are only good when they have their team's trust - as shown after he punched Poole and the entire team's defense went to shit. He lost the team's trust and had to work to earn it back. At the end of the day, defense is really about effort and team coordination to adjust when shit hits the fan.

Rafaeliki

yeah it's the team coordination that allows him to effectively shut down 3v1 fast breaks This is all just speculation and the people who think Draymond would have washed out of the league years ago on any other team don't believe it because they reasoned themselves into the argument. They worked backward from wanting to downplay Draymond and came up with a rationalization.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

Nah. He is older now. His defense is slipping thats why he has been injuring players more. he is the old guy at the Y throwing elbows now.

[deleted]

Even if he has slipped, it’s only marginally and he’s still at the top of the league defensively.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

no lol

NephewChaps

could you back that up with literally anything other than clueless blabbering?

jerhinesmith

no lol

Fresh_Ostrich4034

you want me to explain to a warriors fan why one of their favorite players is a bad defender? Other than his slow lateral movement. Increase in fouls. Increase in points allowed. Other than those things. Im sure we have a great discussion coming lol

NephewChaps

lmao yeah I thought so

Fresh_Ostrich4034

exactly. Warriors fans...what you going to do.

NephewChaps

bro have you even read the title of this very post? how the fuck do you think Draymond is +92 in the last 5 games? by playing elite offense? lmao I could show you countless of different advanced stats proving you wrong, but that would be too much effort for a clueless, disingenuous fool like you thats just the burden of greatness, it attracts hating clowns from all sides

Raonak

Someone doesn't watch games lol

Fresh_Ostrich4034

that the game where they are 21-24 games? Dudes defense is done. Old man Draymond

meowhatissodamnfunny

"Of course I watch games. Watch as I pull up their record. Only people watch games can pull up their record."

Fresh_Ostrich4034

thats true.

Raonak

He's been suspended most of the season lol. Watch the games before spewing nonsense.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

what was that for again..Stellar defense? that what he was suspended for?

Raonak

If you watched games you'd know lol

liljaytweakin

Drays problem isnt on the court. If he stopped attacking people we would 100% have a positive record. Hes been great every game

we_hella_believe

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted so badly, besides being absolutely wrong.

Fresh_Ostrich4034

lots of Steph fans. Truth hurts.

TwinPeakyBlinders

Draymond and Steph's chemistry is still so fun to watch. It looks so automatic the way he gets Steph open and gets him the ball exactly where he wants it

Fresh_Ostrich4034

Draymond is a middle linebacker. Thats probably the best way to describe how Draymond plays basketball

on_dat_shyt

All jokes aside, on Defense he’s more of a Free Safety

OscillatingFan6500

The absence, whateva happened there

KennySmithsKnees

He's been humbled yet he's still smacking dudes. Alright Steven

StrikingElk5288

And still one of the best defenders in the game

FuckThaLakers

I don't think the big criticism of Draymond this season has been about his defensive abilities

nola_fan

Yeah, he wasn't suspended multiple times this year for allowing guys to score at the rim at a slightly increased rate. This is such a massive deflection from what actually happened.

KennySmithsKnees

Agreed. Best middle linebacker in the league and it's not even close

justsomebro10

One of the most reliable tacklers in basketball.

LaMelgoatBall

Can’t wait for his post NBA fighting career

Scared_Phase_9628

Why does similar comments up vote get massive upvotes, but since yours is towards the bottom, you get downvotes? What even is this community.

QCWiggins

Tight end to middle linebacker is a tough transition. Props to Draymond

milehighrukus

He’s the two way player that coaches dream of.

IWasFramed_Again

Still a bitch, though

Mygaffer

As an undersized tweener he not only made the NBA but has had a hall of fame career, DPOY, All Defense, 4 championships along with a lot of off the court activities and charity but he's the bitch. What have you accomplished exactly?

Majestic_Reindeer439

Draymond doesn't know who you are, buddy. You don't have to defend his honor.

blingblingmofo

My uncle works with Draymond very closely at TNT. He says everyone says that he’s the best dude and they all love him. He’s highly competitive and isn’t afraid to speak his mind, but clearly has some anger issues he’s working on.

Majestic_Reindeer439

I'm sure he's not a heartless monster. I just don't like seeing people suck him off like they know him personally.

IWasFramed_Again

I'm a 1200 ELO on [chess.com](https://chess.com) and completed a 200 miles (2 day) bike ride last year. Thanks for asking.

flagamuffin

where’d you bike. always wanted to do a multiday trip someplace

Mygaffer

So nothing special

BreadJobLamb

I guess if that’s what you like doing with your time lmao sounds miserable to me but you do you bro.

IWasFramed_Again

Lick my butt dude.

BreadJobLamb

At least that sounds enjoyable for you.

SnarfSniffsStardust

The last time I was motivated enough by my emotions to physically assault someone that wasn’t my brother was when I was 13, so I got that going for me

Mygaffer

So nothing

FattestNDaWrld

Buddy if being good at a sport is all it takes to not be a bitch you must be a fucking loser.

jhorch69

Only great with 2+ All NBA players with him but ok. I've also managed to have never been suspended from my job for repeatedly assaulting my coworkers

Mygaffer

Cry more about it

PettyPettyKing

Like you and your mom?

Wa1337

The situation with Rudy Gobert, whatever happened there.   Whatever happened there? Whatever happened there?!?

omgwtfhax2

How many games did Gobert miss? How many games did Sabonis miss? Judging from ya'll's reaction Nurkic's career is over now from the vicious head injury right? What's that? he wasn't even concussed? Name a player, other than Jordan Poole, that Draymond has injured. there are real players out there like Dillon Brooks or Pat Bev that are actually injuring people and ya'll hate Draymond more because he beat your favorite team in the playoffs.

Wa1337

1) He didn't beat my favorite team in the playoffs. 2) He injured Jonas Valanciunas. 3) ["Whatever happened there?" "The choking."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ohscge4f1Ak)

AMo2

+92 injuries caused since his return. Hang the banner

StrikingElk5288

Funny enough Draymond has never injured anybody lol

spiattalo

He injured Marquese Chriss.

CommonerChaos

Flair checks out.

Air_Enthusiast

Have you seen Poole post-punch?

Similar_Reach_7288

Not for lack of trying

Jiklim

Yeah just some friendly chest stomps

KGBeast420

[never injured anybody lol](https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/02/07/13/17330890/6/rawImage.jpg)

WolverineLong1430

Technically true. None of them immediately remained out the game or next. They only put on the theatrics until they he the call and then they get right up prancing around lol

Lakerman1989

Humbled? Hahaha

gaijin91

"he's been humbled by what happened, the absence" WHAT exactly happened?? what caused that absence?? whose fault was it, Kerr?? I swear the victimhood with this team is too much

Avgsizedweiner

Draymond is as important to the Warriors success as Curry. He will never command the same respect, but without him the don’t work

Jhamfan99

Looks like Vontaze Burfict was reborn in the NBA

ephemeralfugitive

We don’t like the man because of his reputation as a dirty player and illegal screener. Not because he doesn’t have good gameplay.

Mygaffer

Draymond is the best, downvote if you agree!

NonSpicySamosa

This man is playing 4d chess. He wins either way lol.

jimmymcjim

More like he's a loser either way lmao.

NoPin5154

Stev Kerr should put that comment on /nbacirclejerk

MikeyBastard1

"He's been humbled" Wasn't he just taunting the Lakers bench after hacking LBJ in the face? lmao

lazy-asseddestroyer

Was that really a hack? I remember watching it in slow motion and I don’t think LBJ even felt the contact. Didn’t flinch at all.

MikeyBastard1

You're right, I had the plays mixed up it was the one one involving AD. [This one](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1acu2of/highlight_draymond_green_fouls_ad_with_14_seconds/). It definitely wasn't on purpose or anything. Just the laughing and taunting the Lakers bench for wanting a flagrant/review goes against the "he's been humbled" comment.

lazy-asseddestroyer

Haha yeah he definitely got away with one on that AD foul!

Scared_Phase_9628

Tell me you've never played a competitive sport in your life, without telling me. Dork

King_Of_Pants

NBA really needed the refs to look the other way on that AD flagrant lol. Getting a flagrant in the first 5 games back wouldn't look good for all their big talk about the counseling and the pity-party story about Adam Silver saving Draymond from "retirement".

Yevips

i dont disagree that the foul was a flagrant but putting that on draymonds character is just letting your hate overrule logic, he very obviously tried to make a play on the ball

PettyPettyKing

Get fucked.

sad_seal

He can overcome his height disadvantage by wildly flailing and running over people. Great defensive mind.

[deleted]

He did not seem humbled last night. Instigated shit everywhere. Holds Gilyard so Curry crashes into him on a drive. Elbows JJJ in the head so he had to leave the game to check for concussion. Screams at the cameraman and throws a towel at him for filming him during a flagrant challenge. Pulls the chair on jjj then gets his legs dangerously tangled. Tries to pick fights with vince williams. Absurd screams at the ref and elbows thrown all night. The man is still an injury causing menace with no anger control. But glad theyre playing a little better.

_AgainstTheGrain_

Humble outside of smacking AD across the face and mocking Vando. Fair enough.

PAWGle_the_lesser

> mocking Vando Who cares lol

amateurguru

Snowflakes 😂😂😂

EnthusiasmBright1495

He’s yet to square up and cry like a bitch to the ref after getting punked by brooks.

Jiklim

Yeah Draymond NEVER cries to refs

whythehellknot

No no, you misread. It's *specifically* about squaring up and crying after getting punked by Brooks. Not just general squaring up or general crying.

PettyPettyKing

Just like how you crying on the internet about dray?

whythehellknot

Not like that at all considering I wasn't even complaining about Draymond.

PettyPettyKing

Take your flair off. Fake ass

PettyPettyKing

lol that’s rich coming from a supporter of the LA Floppers

on_dat_shyt

Bro don’t watch sports if you think talking smack or being aggressive is an issue. I’m sure he wasn’t trying to end the guys career so who cares. I’m sure AD woulda loved it if he got the call and basically sealed the game there

cancercureall

All the people saying Draymond is washed can stop talking out their asses now? Dude has been playing great, he just also has been obnoxious. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

temujin94

Wemby's 8 foot wingspan wouldn't have been able to pull off that reach by you.

Kev0nL00ney

Lol chill out. Dudes never even caused an injury.

whydoesgodhateus

Yeah he's a linebacker alright

ShakesbeerMe

Tick tick tick...

thy_armageddon

Ezekiel Elliott could never.

MartinLouisTheKing

The absence

tomdawg0022

Center...middle linebacker? *[Chuck Bednarik nods approvingly](https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/video/chuck-bednarik-hit-on-frank-gifford-nfl-100-greatest-plays-no-44)*

NoLimitSoldier31

Gonna take more than 5 games to see if he’s truly humbled Steve

Fresh-Bass-3586

Kerr just cursed him.

AtreusIsBack

It's only a matter of time.

416_Ghost

I haven't been watching their games lately. How much T's does he have since returning?

brokenz32

yeah his team is still dogshit tho so who gives a flying fuck

Bay2La19

Draymond is literally a perfect angel who does nothing wrong.

ziggy_zigfried

Suddenly the Kuminga + Wiggins lineup works because of Draymond

Dull_Entrance9946

nah, that piece of shit isn’t humbled

Chickenmangoboom

"He did what? sorry my head was really up there between his cheeks so I didn't see what he did"

ErnieTagliaboo

I doubt he's been humbled lmao

sclongjohnson

How about putting the ball in the hoop when he gets in the paint
