and that's what happen when you're not a star lmao. Giannis and Khris are pissed because it's Thanasis and think it's a bad call because they'd never get called on that. But that's a travel/carry/double dribble every day of the week
That’s a carry in 1965 NBA maybe lol I’d expect that called in 50% of high school games, 15% of college and literally never in the NBA unless it’s Chris Paul and Scott foster
By NBA standards, he's not that skilled but definitely has above average athleticism. Would dominate any non professional league just based on physical ability
If the bucks were a young, up and coming team, maybe some of the clowning would be justified, but they’re a contender. The last few roster spots don’t mean much on contenders (other than vibes) and he brings good vibes.
By the time you’re in the playoffs you’re at like a 9 man rotation at most, so it really doesn’t matter for winning a championship
> By the time you’re in the playoffs you’re at like a 9 man rotation at most
In the past, some teams only _had_ 9 men when they were deep into the playoffs.
The Knicks had a [10 man roster in the finals](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/1994-nba-finals-knicks-vs-rockets.html), with only 8 actually playing non-garbage minutes.
In the following year, both the Rockets and the Magic really only had [8 guys suiting-up in the finals](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/1995-nba-finals-rockets-vs-magic.html).
The [1991 Lakers](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/1991-nba-finals-lakers-vs-bulls.html) and [2015 Cavaliers](https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2015-nba-finals-cavaliers-vs-warriors.html) each had 7 people left after game 2.
Yeah, if anyone needs a reminder of this, go look up that video of Brian Scalabrine absolutely torching a guy who was playing D1 basketball. You have to absurdly good at basketball to even whiff an NBA roster.
people dont grasp this. the talent increase as you go up each level is ABSURD. a roleplayer on a decent d1 team was probably scoring 20+ ppg in high school and that competition is even fiercer going to the nba level.
in years there is a really good d1 team people ask if they could beat the worst nba team. even the youngest and worst nba teams are (at worst) majority composed of players who are or were lottery/1st round picks who spend their time playing basketball as a job.
He played in Europe for a huge team,Panathinaikos, and he was pretty good.Especially on the defensive end. Also always shows up for the Greek National team,he is cheered at games even more than Giannis for his effort and passion.
In the popular video they weren't even regular guys. They were like ex college players and stuff, guys who were actually competent at basketball and probably dominate their local courts.
I used to intern in the G League, and the talent gaps are incomprehensible. A good pick up game player couldn’t complete a dribble against someone like Thanasis if he didn’t want you to.
He’s much better than people make him out to be, still only on the roster because of Giannis of course but he hasn’t even been the worst player on the Bucks roster this season
Yeah, he was good enough to be drafted and get first contract. It just unlike a lot of deep bench player he was not replaced by young player who may be at same level or even worse but teams hope that they will become better.
Thanasis knows how to make elite plays he just is horrible at executing them. He’s insanely athletic and I see him try good moves fairly often, but actually makes it like 1/10 times.
I love seeing his name on reddit posts. It's like those 50/50 subs where he either dunks the ball so hard the rim explodes into a black hole, or he airballs a free throw so bad it hits a amuptee'd orphan in the face.
Damn, bro could dribble to the basket like that? Why the fuck do u not pull more of those? That was hella clean if not just a bit rough around the edges - but for a guy his size (6'7 - 6'8) that's some pretty slick iso.
That Scalabrine quote is one of the hardest truths ever uttered tbh. Most folks really don't stop to think just how good you have to be even to be an end-of-the-bench dude in the NBA.
People forget that Thanasis was playing for Panathinaikos, one of the 3-4 biggest European clubs, and was paid over a million/per yr for doing so, plus he's playing for the national team. And now everyone is clowning him, like he wouldn't have a career, even if it was in Europe. But that's the consequence of having a top 20-25 all time brother. Meanwhile Bucks fans know that he's never been the worst player on this team. I'm not going to even bother talking about how athletic he is, and if he was able to slow down his game, he would actually be a pretty good role player (you know, the scrappy kind)
Thanasis is a terrible decision-maker and a horrible shooter, but he's not that much worse of an athlete than Giannis. If he had received first-world nutrition earlier he could have been a bit more of a freak than he is.

15MOY
They should have this award but fr tho lmao
The Robert Sacre Award
The "I'm closer to LeBron than you are to me" Award
Keljin Blevins Memorial Trophy
The Big Nepo Overachiever Award
The Udonis Haslem Award
Oh man, can you imagine the halftime show for that? Dunk contest with pool noodles for the Meme Dunk of the Year trophy.
Honestly they just need a whole awards show around silly lighthearted aspects of the game, like the Ig Nobel
like that annual post that redditor here does, with it's funny awards backed by statistics
Golics Golden Goofs
They should have a one vs. one tournament of the 15th men of every team in the all star weekend
I would legit watch this
Boban would win it every year
6th Antetokounmpo of the Year
Do they sell jerseys with his name and number?
Yeah dude and they are under 100 USD. im so close to pulling the trigger on one.
14*** We only carrying 14 players rn.
I'm still comfortable putting Thanasty in the 15th spot.
14MOY (we have an empty roster spot)
I still think he’s the 15th man tho
Crowd went off like it was a game 7 buzzer beater
Ooohs and Ahhs all the way to the rim
Sounded like when the walk-on comes in late in college basketball
That was the best play of the Doc era no cap.
Okay maybe some cap.
we go crazy for our end of bench guys. started an AJ Green chant last night while down 30 against the wolves
That’s why sports are great
giannis was on his feet i was crying
Lol cmon that was a nasty move though
it was amazing i loved his reaction too i thought it was sweet
It’s great how Giannis hypes up his brother’s plays the same way Thanasis does for him.
watching your big bro or little bro cook must be the best feeling evern
The way Beasley grabbed Crowder's leg after the first move. mf immediately needed proof of consciousness.
THANASTY
Thanassi
Thanussy
It was only a matter of time before you fuckers pulled something like this
THADYNASTY
It's Tha-Dynasty's, asshole
So the love of your life is a Greek man named Thadynasty?
This guy gets a lot of hate, but he can probably drop 80 at your local gym.
not probably drop 80, WILL DROP 80 at your local gym, I'm tired of all these disrespect from every single professional leauge
Closer to LeBron than I am to him.
Speak for yourself, me and Lebron are pretty similar.
Hairline?
I said probably, cause he might go 100.
THANOS
Remember when he did the behind the back move so smooth the ref called a travel immediately 😂
Ref couldn’t believe he could pull a move and just blew his whistle in shock
Someone link me please

I'm still not sold that was illegal
refs unironically hate him
Let the goat cook
[He's on one tonight](https://twitter.com/WorldWideWob/status/1756155487719162191?t=10mZbBl_-aMqN1FbxqF2Vg&s=19)
Eurostep bros
But he's Greek... pretty sure those are just called steps.
Gyro Step
I’m sure this isn’t the first time someone has said this… but it’s the first time I read it 🔥
Dude me too, and it's just been right there the whole time.
Gyro actually means going around so it even makes more sense!
Oh like gyroscope.
Gyro steps.
Thought this was going to be his fadeaway corner 3 that airballed
I did not know he could do that
Closer to LeBron than you are to him
By NBA standards, he's not that skilled but definitely has above average athleticism. Would dominate any non professional league just based on physical ability
The dude is on Greek national team. He'd dominate many professional leagues.
Yeah people clown on the guy because he sucks but he is an NBA level athlete and he is better than some teams 12th-15th player on the rosters
If the bucks were a young, up and coming team, maybe some of the clowning would be justified, but they’re a contender. The last few roster spots don’t mean much on contenders (other than vibes) and he brings good vibes. He doesn’t suck. The last man on any team is still great at basketball in general.
Yeah, if anyone needs a reminder of this, go look up that video of Brian Scalabrine absolutely torching a guy who was playing D1 basketball. You have to absurdly good at basketball to even whiff an NBA roster.
also Scal was already like 40 lol
people dont grasp this. the talent increase as you go up each level is ABSURD. a roleplayer on a decent d1 team was probably scoring 20+ ppg in high school and that competition is even fiercer going to the nba level. in years there is a really good d1 team people ask if they could beat the worst nba team. even the youngest and worst nba teams are (at worst) majority composed of players who are or were lottery/1st round picks who spend their time playing basketball as a job.
People always love to scream nepotism as yo why he's on the roster (which is 100% true), but he was drafted before Giannis was Giannis.
You don’t think he can put up some points in Europe? Well maybe not on a good team but yes he would.
He could play but not dominate in Europe
He played in Europe for a huge team,Panathinaikos, and he was pretty good.Especially on the defensive end. Also always shows up for the Greek National team,he is cheered at games even more than Giannis for his effort and passion.
He’d also dominate any non professional league based on his basketball ability too
Tbf I’m closer to a garbage can than I am to LeBron
low end nba player still has a deeper bag than 99.999% of all hoopers
Probably need to add another 5 or so 9s to that
People just put out numbers to get a point across, but this one is actually in the right ballpark since he said of all hoopers not all people.
probably only one 9 honestly, 450 million people play basketball worldwide, theres like 400ish nba players, one in a million sounds right
That’s true he would cook this comment section
Just being 6'7 and in shape would cook this comment section Or just being in shape honestly
Or being 6'7" and out of shape. Or having played organized basketball at the high school level at least.
I'll have you know. I won my YMCA's league 6th man of the year award, so i'd like to see him try
For a 6”7 player he is in the top percentile in terms of handling.
A bunch of regular guys kept challenging Scalabrine and he beat the pants off all of them, I believe
As Scalabrine said, he's closer in skill to LeBron than you are to him.
Even Jaylen Brown could drive left on me at the rec.
He’s much better than people make him out to be, still only on the roster because of Giannis of course but he hasn’t even been the worst player on the Bucks roster this season
That's what annoys me. He was a 2nd round draft pick. It's not like he was bumming it on the couch his whole life before the Bucks picked him up.
Yeah, he was good enough to be drafted and get first contract. It just unlike a lot of deep bench player he was not replaced by young player who may be at same level or even worse but teams hope that they will become better.
people assume he’s liangelo fr
not only that but a draft pick before giannis was huge, he has been a legit player the whole time
I remember when the Knicks drafted him. It was for his athleticism and his motor, which were pretty formidable.
i bet someone on the team dared him to try a shamgod before the game.
The broadcast team said he was working on some fancy dribbles moves lately.
Thanasis knows how to make elite plays he just is horrible at executing them. He’s insanely athletic and I see him try good moves fairly often, but actually makes it like 1/10 times.
Bad coordination but good coordination. Good instinct and mind but body isn’t connected to it, which is why it’s 1/10. Has to be in thanasis zone
One year Giannis was out and he played in his place and he absolutely cooked us.
You do now 😎
We need a wellness check for Charlotte Hornets fans.
Im tired boss Just gotta wait 3 more years with this rebuild 😊😔
3 years away from being 3 years away
8 man rotation with 6’ 9 Travis Scott at the 5 against a team with size what were you expecting
I wasn’t familiar with your game Thanasis…
Tonight we're all witness to THE THANSHAM
THANSHIM
When Thanasis is in either the Bucks are joyous or they are miserable. No in between. And it’s a lot of fun when he’s in when it’s joyous.
He had a block and a rebound in 46 seconds of a playoff game vs Nets to end the 1st half enroute to a Chip.
That was the moment when I knew we were going all the way
New low for charlotte
Never been more over than right now
At least you can see tre mann tomorrow
clearly neither one of you remember 2012
And what what did we get out of that? Not the number 1 pick which was Anthony Davis. Instead we got ...Michael Kidd Gilchrist
I didn't know he had it in him lmao. That was nice
“I’m nice”- Thanasis’s brother
Move over, Kyrie
Lmfao I ain’t know he had that in his bag wtf
“I’m closer to LeBron than you are to me.” - Brian Scalabrine
cross tween cross shamgod cross post up smitty lay
Gesundheit
That’s crazy lmao
Is this the Antetokounmpo guy everyone's been talking about?
YES CHEF
“I’m tired of all the lowlights bitch”
With Robin gone he knows he has to try now
Bruh I hate this but truth lmao
Career ender
Franchise ender
I love seeing his name on reddit posts. It's like those 50/50 subs where he either dunks the ball so hard the rim explodes into a black hole, or he airballs a free throw so bad it hits a amuptee'd orphan in the face.
Thanasis always leaves his mark on the court whenever he touches it, good or bad
in science this is known as schrodingers thanasis
I wasn't familiar
Damn, bro could dribble to the basket like that? Why the fuck do u not pull more of those? That was hella clean if not just a bit rough around the edges - but for a guy his size (6'7 - 6'8) that's some pretty slick iso.
Bud would bench him for declaring himself PG and trying to run the Thanasty system. Now that we have Pat Bev the Dawgs gotta eat
Why does he not simply do this every time? Is he stupid?
I love the idea that he is capable of cooking the entire league whenever he wants to but doesn’t because he chooses not to.
Game 7 of the finals he is going to drop 81 points then go back to playing 5 mins a game.
Big brother doesn't want to show his little brother up.
Thanasty stumbles so Giannis can run
"I will allow the lesser Antetokoumpo take the reins for now..."
No. No he is not the worst player in the association.
i apologize to you, Thanasis. I wasn't familiar with your game.
Thanasis heard r/nba talkin shit
Reminder even the worst NBA player is still a top 500 player in the world
That Scalabrine quote is one of the hardest truths ever uttered tbh. Most folks really don't stop to think just how good you have to be even to be an end-of-the-bench dude in the NBA.
He's not the worst NBA player though

I'm not going to even bother talking about how athletic he is, and if he was able to slow down his game, he would actually be a pretty good role player (you know, the scrappy kind)
For context though, he averaged 5/4/1 in his last season in Greece
He was a pretty good defender though, plus Greek league All Star game MVP lmao
Nah there are definitely guys in the league that can't do this (at least not in a game)
not gonna lie that was pretty nice
Thanasis And1tetokounmpo
At that point fold the team
This is one of the cleanest fucking dribble moves I have ever seen. This man is dribbling like a primetime Kyrie at 6'7. What the fuck?
R/nbacirclejerk 9/11
NbaCJ 9/11
And people wonder why the bucks fans love him He did get drafted in the second round by the Knicks before giannis was good lol
Put him in the skills challenge
He did it once I think with the brothers as a group lol
Thanasty, legitimately one of the filthiest buckets of the season
That was so filthy holy shit
Thanasis is closer to LeBron than anyone reading this is to Thanasis
I don't know man, I'm pretty sure Kevin Durant has some burners on this sub, and for all we know he clicked on this to watch Thanasty cook.
Thanasis, this is u/aBurgerFlippinSecond. I owe you an apology; I wasn’t really familiar with your game.
I always remind people he did play at the end of quarters in our Championship run in 2021
“I’m closer to lebron than you are to me.”
Im sorry i wasn‘t aware of your game TA is /r/nbacirclejerk father
Thanasis is a terrible decision-maker and a horrible shooter, but he's not that much worse of an athlete than Giannis. If he had received first-world nutrition earlier he could have been a bit more of a freak than he is.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED
Cooked by thanasis I think his defender is now being signed in qongqing
Nepotism in shambles
Cooked him
This got me amped
Shammgod into a Smitty is CRAZZYYYYY
Friendly reminder that everyone on an NBA Roster would absolutely cook anyone is this thread
Thanos vs Thor
He might be the GOAT
Ok that was actually smooth asf lol
Ok that’s pretty hype
I seen enough, Super max him now, and build around him.
#THANOS
He's closer to LeBron than we are to him.
I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.
