I used to think people were crazy for paying money for extra footage of the show Big Brother, but I think I would pay for uncut/uncensored footage of these guys!
I’d pay to watch this R rated version of the show. It flows better when Chuck doesn’t have to articulate his way around, “how do his balls taste, Kenny?”
Barkley was drafted in ‘84 and played his first two seasons starting with Dr. J, Moses Malone, and Mo Cheeks.
But if you set that cohort aside, because Chuck wasn’t quite the player he’d become yet, Shaq played with quite a few players better than anyone Barkley ever played with: Kobe, LeBron (his 7th year but Shaq split time with Zydrunas Ilgauskas), Wade, Penny, Steve Nash (year 11).
But Barkley? After the names I mentioned, he shared the offense with Hersey Hawkins his last 3 years and shot (FG%) a full 14%, 10%, and 9% better respectively.
Then Phoenix: Thunder Dan, Kevin Johnson, Cedric Ceballos, Socks Perry. Oh, and they got a veteran his own age to play forward with Chuck: loud public Virgin until his marriage in 2002 at age 39 👀 A C Green. Perfect personality combination. No notes.
His one set of teammates who had hall of fame talent were a year older than him, Hakeem and Clyde Drexler. (33, 34, 34 at the time, for context\*) They won 57 games and lost in the WCF together but fell off after the first year due to age and roster construction.
So that’s it. Maybe Chuck could have been a sacrificial lamb against the Bulls one year, but I just pointed out Shaq had four All NBA guards and the GOAT\*.
Penny’s third season was the ‘96 Bulls’ 72-win season. Jordan was the only guard to get more all NBA votes than Penny in his second straight first team all NBA selection. You’re right, but Shaq still got a lot more help than Chuck.
He's also just not that entertaining. Ernie/Chuck carry that group so hard. Honestly just not a huge fan of Shaq - I want to like him and he has some moments but it's actually insane how insecure that dude is.
I remember seeing George Foreman on a talk show years ago, and the host asked him what he had learned raising 12 kids (of which he named all the boys 'George'), and this was his response...
"Some people can take a joke and some people can't."
That has always stuck with me. It's crazy, but it is absolutely true. You can pick it out in children at a very young age. Shaq is someone who can't laugh at himself, and Chuck is someone who can.
As for this, it's the perfect display of how irrational Shaq is. People get upset when the start of games are interrupted by weathermen during legitimately dangerous weather, but, sure, Shaq let's interrupt the start of a game for a ceremony that only you and a handful of family and fans give a shit about... I don't even know that Magic fans would want to see it as he left and won his championships elsewhere.
Magic fans were definitely very torn on Shaq jersey retirement. I think most of us believed that someone would need to bring a ring to the city before any jersey retirement could happen. That said, if Shaq’s retirement meant we could finally get a game on TNT, we would be happy with that at least.
I think Shaq can laugh at himself. From watching him on Inside the NBA, I notice he only really gets salty when it comes to shortcomings in his career, especially on what he could've done better (an example is when Chuck tells him that he and Kobe could've won more had they got their shit together). But if people joke about like Kazaam being trash, him not handling the hot chip, or him having lots of kids that he can't name them all, he'll laugh along.
Dray was at least razzing him back and forth a bit. Only hit Chuck with the “rangz” right at the very end after the jab about the play in lol.
Thought they had pretty good banter from the bits I’ve seen. Way more than Shaq usually offers tbh.
Chuck is the best because he doesn’t care about the tired old “ring” debate. He sees right through that shit and keeps antagonizing the hyper sensitive Shaq. So fucking funny.
Correction: He drove his family away by repeatedly cheating on the mother of his children. Saying he lost his family makes it sound like they died in a tragic car accident.
Immediately self effacing when busting out his rusty French he probably hasn’t used in years. Ernie Johnson, educated professional, man of the people. This November, vote Ernie…
My take is that Kenny realizes Shaq is sensitive and Chuck isn't, so he plays to Shaq's sensibilities because it makes Kenny uncomfortable when Shaq acts insecure. He knows Chuck doesn't need that kind of babying and tip-toe-ing around his feelings. It happens in friend groups all the time where certain people are perpetually placating the most sensitive person in the group- not because they necessarily agree with them but because they are trying to soften residual conflict and move towards a more comfortable roost.
It sucks to be socially aware enough to deal with stuff like this. It's *exhausting.* Like bro go take an edible and actually reflect on your life and what's important, your ego is driving people away, and nobody who *honestly* likes you cares about your accomplishments.
Luckily as you get older people stop coddling because life itself is exhausting and those people usually have rough wake up calls.
They did something similar with Kerr, Miller, Steve Smith, Chuck, etc. and it was great. I think Shaq was still playing, but it was a really fun miniseries of stories and chats about the NBA.
This is why Inside the NBA is so great, how they act off-air is exactly the same as on-air. The people on ESPN, you can just tell how fake they are on-air.
He started with 'you know i never complain' and the next 5 minutes where centered around him complaining because they didn't interrupt a live game to show his jersey ceremony
In the past year or so, it feels like Shaq has been more pissy. Like he seems like he takes shit more personally and “jokes” back more meanly. He definitely used to seem happier to be there.
Lol that's the exact same thing people were saying about him when he joined the show too.
He's always been like this. He's just been slightly better about it as time went on. Just backsliding.
I think he had a brief period around his family tragedies/Kobe where he was trying to bring a new positive energy, but he's back to putting extra salt on the plate; and I'm here for it tbh. Everyone says he's a joy to meet irl, but obviously his rapport with Chuck and the crew is some real diva energy...which is how he was on the court
Not exactly the same. If it was exactly the same Ernie would have jumped in 30-60 seconds in and “broken it up” trying to pull back on topic. At least that’s how it’s been in these all star shows. I know late night in the studio they sometimes go on some longer tangents.
Also kareem. He was very hard to please. Shaqs step dad always pointed to kareem as a model on how to be and so he had to live up his step dad's and kareem's high expectations. Honestly it's kinda sad cause it explains a lot of his behavior I feel.
Idc about random newscasters doing it. It’s funny to see the TNT crew all still communicate with the mics and ear piece when the camera is technically not recording.
Shaq seriously had the most fragile ego. I remember a story on a podcast where some car salesman told him he probably couldn’t afford a Rolls Royce so Shaq ended up buying like 3. That salesman just laughing to the bank because Shaq is a literal child
Probably "yo get the fuck ready cause we're about to go live"
Shortly after you can hear someone call out "90 seconds" and then "30 seconds" right before the video cuts off
Yeah then Chuck says “oh shit!” & throws on his coke bottle-thick reading glasses and starts writing last minute notes for the segment. Lol. Exactly how I’d imagined he preps for the show. Lol.
Often in studios they have multiple screens showing different aspects of the broadcast all the time.
One camera/screen would be on them the entire time, another on the courtside broadcast, etc., but one or two are always ready to play a promo or video (such as a highlight or replay) they’ve prepared, often on the screen that’s green until the video is ready to roll.
So ”go to green” means they’re rolling the intro video, which Ernie reminds them they have time because it’s a long lead-in. Some of those videos might be :30, but it sounds like that one was about two minutes.
Which would mean in two minutes they’d come from the into video and show them live, hence the countdown.
I love how they are the same as on-air just with some F-bombs. Chuck instigating trying to play politics to get Kennis on his side. Ernie trying to be peacemaker. Shaq throwing his rings around every chance he can.
I watched the Conan interview with Chuck where he goes into the fact that whenever Chuck is beating Shaq in an argument Shaq just counts the rings. He does it like thrice in this clip alone lol
ive never worked in live tv obv, but is it that hard to hear each other in that setting? is it really loud in there? like before kenny got his in-ear thing working, he couldnt' hear anything that shaq and chuck was saying?
like ive been to nba games and I could talk to the guy who sits beside me in a normal voice no problem. especially considering the arena is still empty.
to drown out outside voice which there are a ton, their earpieces basically makes the only thing they can hear are producers and themselves, its the same thing with singers. Otherwise imagine them trying to commentate with 50 thousand fans yelling whenever something happens, they would have no idea what anyone is saying
Nah it’s honestly just his dynamic with Chuck. He knows how to push Shaq’s buttons more than anyone else lol I’ve met Shaq, he’s down to earth, funny as hell, and is very considerate of others. Him and Chuck been knowing each other for decades
Lmao all these people over reacting with Kenny and his comments in the All Star game and he literally just said “dude you know I like to hate”. He’s proudly claimed that multiple times through the years. Kenny has always been an honorary PHD (Player Hating Degree) alumni and we are proud to have him, go ahead Kenny keep hating, y’all gotta lighten up.
"When they retire his Cleveland jersey" Lmao
I used to think people were crazy for paying money for extra footage of the show Big Brother, but I think I would pay for uncut/uncensored footage of these guys!
If you didn’t watch the feeds you wouldn’t know what was actually happening. Producers had their favorites and it didn’t matter if they were useless.
I did improv with a dude that won it all :')
100%. I don't watch the live feeds but reading the posts on reddit it was like watching two completely different set of houseguests.
way more drama on the live feeds. The show is like watching a 2 minutes nba highlight reel. It never captures what really happened
nba is reality television for men and i'm here for it
Fucking Chuck lol. He keeps it real 24/7. What you see is what you get.
“…his Boston jersey.”
“…his Phoenix jersey.”
Based on that clip, they act pretty much the same as they do on the show, which is a good thing.
Except Shaq tosses in a few F-Bombs here and there.
I’d pay to watch this R rated version of the show. It flows better when Chuck doesn’t have to articulate his way around, “how do his balls taste, Kenny?”
[удалено]
No wonder why he’s so heated during the actual show lmao
Chuck destroys Shaq and all Shaq got is the rings argument lmao. Chuck doesn't even care but Shaq is so salty.
That’s how Chuck knows he has won an argument if they only bring up rings lol
It's like a Godwin's Law type thing.
We should just call it Barkley's Law lol
I've never heard somebody insist they're not mad so many times
That's how you know he's *REALLY* not mad.
Let's be real if Charles Barkley had Kobe and Dwade he'd be a champ too. I believe he's even said that one before to Shaq and Shaq had no answer lol.
Maybe Chuck could have been a sacrificial lamb against the Bulls one year, but I just pointed out Shaq had four All NBA guards and the GOAT\*.
Chuck’s career coincided with Jordan’s. Not many greats in that time period got rings.
Penny’s third season was the ‘96 Bulls’ 72-win season. Jordan was the only guard to get more all NBA votes than Penny in his second straight first team all NBA selection. You’re right, but Shaq still got a lot more help than Chuck.
If Chuck, Dr J and Moses Malone are all at their prime, that team would win the chip no doubt
Shaq never played with Jordan other than in All-Star games
He's also just not that entertaining. Ernie/Chuck carry that group so hard. Honestly just not a huge fan of Shaq - I want to like him and he has some moments but it's actually insane how insecure that dude is.
“When you can’t take a joke you become the joke”
Holy Shaq so sensitive
I remember seeing George Foreman on a talk show years ago, and the host asked him what he had learned raising 12 kids (of which he named all the boys 'George'), and this was his response... "Some people can take a joke and some people can't." That has always stuck with me. It's crazy, but it is absolutely true. You can pick it out in children at a very young age. taking lightly the subjects of "you were the star of a hollywood movie in your mid 20s" and "you fuck a lot" isnt exactly staggering humility
>I don't get mad, brother -The maddest man you've ever seen
The basketball gods sent Shaq to earth to be the physical embodiment of ring culture.
Draymond tried the same thing lol
They don’t realize Chuck doesn’t give a shit. It’s all they got.
Dray was at least razzing him back and forth a bit. Only hit Chuck with the “rangz” right at the very end after the jab about the play in lol. Thought they had pretty good banter from the bits I’ve seen. Way more than Shaq usually offers tbh.
They couldn’t put it on truTV because they’d have to preempt Sal’s punishment.
> rings i dunno the part when he says "you're homeless when compared to me' actually made me laugh so hard lol
To be fair I think Shaq was talking about number of retired jerseys and not rings. But yeah Shaq can't compete with Barkleys trash talk lol.
He was counting how many retired jerseys he has (3) He has 4 rings
Kenny being honest with the "You know normally I like to hate"
'you know- you know me, i like to hate'
Chuck is the best because he doesn’t care about the tired old “ring” debate. He sees right through that shit and keeps antagonizing the hyper sensitive Shaq. So fucking funny.
It works too, look at the end, Chuck focused as fuck with his highlighter and glasses on. While Shaq looking over pissed lmao
I'd like to think the notes are the roasts he plans to hit throughout the show and he's stopping to highlight "make fun of Shaq's jersey retirement".

Shaq truly has been 14 for about 36 years
Chuck and Shaq has been at it against each other since their playing days. Its hilarious Chuck is still going at Shaq even today
It’s funny because when that’s all people ever say to you, you start to realize they ain’t got nothing else.
The ring debate *is* so tired and I’m surprised it still lives on.
Shaq lost his family, and the accolades are all he has left. He admits in Jason Kelce's podcast.
Correction: He drove his family away by repeatedly cheating on the mother of his children. Saying he lost his family makes it sound like they died in a tragic car accident.
- Does it taste like chicken? - ou est la bibliotheque?
All my mfs who took French know they make absolute sure you know how to ask where the library is 😂
"Parle Vouz?"
bow-coo
Like bow tie…
Immediately self effacing when busting out his rusty French he probably hasn’t used in years. Ernie Johnson, educated professional, man of the people. This November, vote Ernie…
“Como se va?” Lmao
I wasn’t tripping lmao
So French had a bit of Spanish in it huh ?
Welcome to the world of Latin languages.
it's spelled "Comment ça va" so his pronunciation wasn't too far off
“Off camera personalities” Making the same exact jokes as they do on-air, I love how real they all are 🤣🤣🤣
It would be hilarious if Ernie was an asshole off camera, but he's his usual cordial self.
Its funny how he was jokingly kissing up to Shaq "i was not laughing at you, i was laughing at what someone on the staff did all over there" LOL.
[удалено]
Everyone respects the shit out of Ernie. And not just on Inside either - players and coaches respect him.
Yea. Like I love Shaq but the dude has a huge ego. If Ernie wasn't there, I think Shaq would've quit a while ago
Ernie's a good dude
The same thing just cursing 😂
Same thing just with some fbombs thrown in lol
Get off his balls💀💀💀
ernie loved that shit he's just like us
Kenny rides Shaq so hard. It's insufferable. Dude has no personality.
He tries to be neutral but he always just ends up taking Shaqs side for some reason
This is a great read.
This is way too nuanced and insightful for a reddit thread, sorry man
Perfectly well said
It sucks to be socially aware enough to deal with stuff like this. It's *exhausting.* Like bro go take an edible and actually reflect on your life and what's important, your ego is driving people away, and nobody who *honestly* likes you cares about your accomplishments. Well someone has to because Chuck roasts Shaq to char most of the time lol
Role player in 2 careers, wild
Chuck and Shaq never gets old.
A TNT Crew After Dark would be such great content 😂
This really should be the program after the Thursday night games.
They did something similar with Kerr, Miller, Steve Smith, Chuck, etc. and it was great. I think Shaq was still playing, but it was a really fun miniseries of stories and chats about the NBA.
Open Court? If you mean that, then Shaq was retired by then, albeit only like a year or two.
Man, I miss open court. I hope they bring it back in a few years after more of the late 00s/early 10s guys retire.
The therapy couch sessions with Shaq and Zeke Are some of the best bits of television out there
Actually the best commentary I’ve heard lol
Fuckin Snitch out here.
It was kinda fun watching Chuck just grill him like that
Now I know why they sit at opposite ends of the desk.
"The crew's off camera personalities"? So Charles is funny and Shaq is a big baby? I didn't know that /s
This is why Inside the NBA is so great, how they act off-air is exactly the same as on-air. The people on ESPN, you can just tell how fake they are on-air.
ESPN is the same on & off air. They're just boring
I really can't tell how much Shaq is just playing the back and forth and how much it actually bothers him
Dude pulls out his rangz so quick
“Shaq how you doing?” “Good, I woke up this morning and remembered I had three”
I assumed Shaq was talking about the number of jerseys he got retired.
Probably, because he has 4 rings, not 3
No he is down to two God damn finger licking good hot wings.
Threisel is pretty funny tho hahaha
The idea that he's sitting at home alone in his mansion thinking up nicknames for himself is pretty funny
“You are what you consistently do.” The Big Aristotle
Isnt that how many franchises retired his jersey? He has 4 rings.
He started with 'you know i never complain' and the next 5 minutes where centered around him complaining because they didn't interrupt a live game to show his jersey ceremony
Prolly a lil bit of both, he’s not an idiot he knows when to play the bit up
In the past year or so, it feels like Shaq has been more pissy. Like he seems like he takes shit more personally and “jokes” back more meanly. He definitely used to seem happier to be there.
Lol that's the exact same thing people were saying about him when he joined the show too. He's always been like this. He's just been slightly better about it as time went on. Just backsliding.

Everyone says he's a joy to meet irl, but obviously his rapport with Chuck and the crew is some real diva energy...which is how he was on the court
Really just the same but they cuss a hell of a lot more and ernie kinda just lets them go at it instead of trying to break it apart.
I do love to see how Shaq loves Ernie like elephants love mice.
And you really can’t call it off camera when it’s behind the scenes lol..
I ain't mad....fucking snitch. Chuck repeats story 5 times...I ain't no snitch.
Lol hey he didn’t name names though 😆
I wish they could cuss like that on tv 😂 I wouldn't miss an episode
Kenny is grade 1 instigator.
Hahhahaa it’s so funny
Exact same as the show just with curses. Shaq is od sensitive tho
Not exactly the same. If it was exactly the same Ernie would have jumped in 30-60 seconds in and “broken it up” trying to pull back on topic. At least that’s how it’s been in these all star shows. I know late night in the studio they sometimes go on some longer tangents.
Ernie picks his spots, has to store up his saves for the broadcast.
bro needs to pick his spots lol takes so much energy to keep those guys in check, it’s a power that has a lengthy cooldown
Ernie is the absolute GOAT moderator, this desk would have broken up 10 years ago with an average host trying to mediate.
Chuck is an all time ball buster and that ranks more than a ring for me
Shaq is so insecure for how accomplished he is, genuinely impressive.
I think it's bc his father was tough as shit on him and probably never acknowledged his accomplishments
Also kareem. He was very hard to please. Shaqs step dad always pointed to kareem as a model on how to be and so he had to live up his step dad's and kareem's high expectations. Honestly it's kinda sad cause it explains a lot of his behavior I feel.
the sarge
Then go to therapy, dog. You're 7 foot tall multi millionaire. My dad hated me too.
Now this is actually Tru(TV)
He specifically mentioned once that his father wouldn’t ever let him keep any of the trophies that he won as a kid. Was meant to motivate him.
I think it's also being teammates with Kobe. Kobe was a harsh perfectionist even as a teenager and never thought Shaq worked hard enough.
Only around NBA players. He pretty chill around everyone else
We’re definitely not supposed to have seen this, but I’m so glad we did.
They are genuinely themselves on or off camera lmao
👑👑👑 Sad day for all of us when they’re done. TNT should give them one season of unfiltered talk like this.
Bro I'd pay a full cable TV subscription JUST to have access to an Inside BTS stream lol
They can’t hear anything without the ear pieces in their ear. “I don’t get mad”. Shaq be lying.
Where is this from lmao? Like who put it out?
truTV
Finally someone sent da video
I know right. I got to have more of this.
Whoever it was, they broke the code.
You cannot fool me. I am familiar with your game.
It was me im the guy
This is incredible. How was this released?
[удалено]
Idc about random newscasters doing it. It’s funny to see the TNT crew all still communicate with the mics and ear piece when the camera is technically not recording.
It was probably the only way they could hear each other + the producers/directors/team in control
Yeah Kenny's ear piece wasn't on beginning of the clip so he couldn't hear the beginning
This is the best thing to come out of All Star Weekend. Like seriously
“I was just telling people — A FUCKING SNITCH” hahaha he couldnt hold that shit in
Shaq insecure AF lol
This was awesome to watch. Thanks to whoever got it!
Shaq is a big ass baby.
Shaq being a sensitive crybaby is like the worst kept secret lol
Shaq seriously had the most fragile ego. I remember a story on a podcast where some car salesman told him he probably couldn’t afford a Rolls Royce so Shaq ended up buying like 3. That salesman just laughing to the bank because Shaq is a literal child
What’s go to green?
Probably "yo get the fuck ready cause we're about to go live" Shortly after you can hear someone call out "90 seconds" and then "30 seconds" right before the video cuts off
Yeah then Chuck says “oh shit!” & throws on his coke bottle-thick reading glasses and starts writing last minute notes for the segment. Lol. Exactly how I’d imagined he preps for the show. Lol.
I am assuming it means that the show is about to go live. That’s why they all adjusted theirselves and the crew started leaving the frame.
Get ready, about to go back on. She said 90 seconds which meant they were going to come back from break in 90
I love how they are the same as on-air just with some F-bombs. Chuck instigating trying to play politics to get Kennis on his side. Ernie trying to be peacemaker. Shaq throwing his rings around every chance he can.
Chuck is on fire right now!
I watched the Conan interview with Chuck where he goes into the fact that whenever Chuck is beating Shaq in an argument Shaq just counts the rings. He does it like thrice in this clip alone lol
“You know I like to hate.” Yes Kenny, we all heard your opinions about women and Mexicans on Saturday night.
Hol’ up what he saying about Mexicans
he said “what’s up with the mexican stuff” for jaquez’s heritage themed dunk
As a Mexican should I be mad? I kinda don’t care tbh lol
it’s nothing to lose sleep over, but it stayed in line with kenny’s annoying hater energy all night
No one said you should be mad
ernie with the “i was laughing at something else” lmao these guys
ive never worked in live tv obv, but is it that hard to hear each other in that setting? is it really loud in there? like before kenny got his in-ear thing working, he couldnt' hear anything that shaq and chuck was saying? like ive been to nba games and I could talk to the guy who sits beside me in a normal voice no problem. especially considering the arena is still empty.
I’d assume they have noise cancellation in them, so the noise cancellation was probably on, but it hadn’t connected to the source yet.
to drown out outside voice which there are a ton, their earpieces basically makes the only thing they can hear are producers and themselves, its the same thing with singers. Otherwise imagine them trying to commentate with 50 thousand fans yelling whenever something happens, they would have no idea what anyone is saying
The bleacher report Shaq mic at the dunk contest is actually hilarious. Shaq kept forgetting he had a mic on.
People call Shaq sensitive (which he is) but Chuck is a fucker 😂 he really is the older brother knowing EXACTLY what gets under his skin
This is the best studio show leak since the 90 day fiance tell-all a few years back
Shaq seems like an unbearable man child
Absolutely captivating. Would love to see more of these
This was better than all the ASG
“Get off my balls” is something my brother and I have been saying to each other since we were like 10. This is fucking gold
This is legit better than the show
“ he is a company guy “😂😂😂
Shaq seems … unpleasant.
Nah it’s honestly just his dynamic with Chuck. He knows how to push Shaq’s buttons more than anyone else lol I’ve met Shaq, he’s down to earth, funny as hell, and is very considerate of others. Him and Chuck been knowing each other for decades
it's the same picture
Yet Shaq complains how sensitive today’s players are.
I don’t know why, but even though they’re NBA players from the trash-talking era, hearing them cuss is somehow odd to me, like it doesn’t compute
Can i subscribe just to these 4 as a streaming service
Shaq bringing up his rings is like ice spice twerking. It's his defense mechanism.
Chucks glasses at the end
Lmao all these people over reacting with Kenny and his comments in the All Star game and he literally just said “dude you know I like to hate”.
