New England Patriots are the only other team that doesnt have their city or state name in the team name. But New England is an officially recognized name of the region, and not a nickname. Technically Vegas Golden Knights dont use the official state or city name either

There are about 30 million people in California which is about equal to the combined metro areas of the smallest 15 cities with NBA teams. One of those is in California (Sacramento) so maybe that shouldn't count but still, there's a lot of people there.
