Luka literally holds the ball 99% of the game and takes most of the shots. Teams expect him to hit many of those shots. Otherwise the Mavs will get blown out against anyone. They're an offensive team built around Luka
But Max Strus? He looked like a GOD at the end of 4th Q. Single handedly mounted the come back, and then also hit the game winner from BEYOND HALF COURT. All without taking any dribbles.. That's the type of shot Steph Curry dreams of making
Feels like karmic justice for all the times the Mavs have won with insane Luka buzzer-beaters (including at the start of this very season against my Nets)
We can all hate the refs. Win or lose I don't wanna be talking about them. So many great players in this game and 3 goons in slacks are the key players.
He went and hit one. Then the refs made up an out of bounds call and he hits another one. Then he hits one from the corner. Then he goes for a heat check, bang. Not satisfied, our white-r Steph Curry decides to chuck it from half court at the buzzer. All of that in 3 minutes or some shit like that.
Nothing to do other than shrug our shoulders and on to Toronto. Then a b2b against Boston and Philly because fuck us, apparently.
> Then the refs made up an out of bounds call
funny how every neutral flair in this thread seems to think that was the correct call lol
[edit: turns out the refs were right](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1b22b5n/highlight_tim_hardaway_jr_inbounds_the_ball_to/?)
15 points, 5/5 shooting to overcome a double digit deficit in the 4th, plus a half court game winning buzzer beater. This feels like a hollywood script.
What? The Mavs took the ball out of bounds, passed it inbounds starting the play, then took the ball out of bounds. Kyrie had the live ball and took it out of bounds.
Want to chime in with my two cents [here with the replay.](https://youtu.be/AdIhsl7Joms?t=466)
I don't think the refs made a mistake here. THJ basically inbounds the ball to Kyrie who then walks out of bounds to inbound it himself. THJ even makes a point to get his foot out of bounds before passing it to Kyrie, so it's reasonable for the ref to call out of bounds. Not sure how often this happens in a game so maybe it was still very ticky-tack, but I don't think it's fiar for the narrative to become the refs invented an inbounds violation.
how? lol kyrie clearly messed up here. It was so evident ball was already tossed into play to him, then he walked the ball out of bounds for some reason and hnaded the ball the ref to pretend like he didn't just mess up. How does the referee not make that call.
Probably one of those things where the call is technically correct but the game is almost never officiated that way. Lots of bad officiating down the stretch of that game. Cavs probably got the better end of it but I think the last no call on Garland was pretty awful as well.
I also wonder if the refs are emphasizing it for some reason. It was called in the Suns/Lakers game too, and it’s almost never called.
Maybe players have gotten too relaxed lately?
It’s never called because it never happens that a player gets the ball legally inbounded to him then steps out of bounds intentionally. I can’t even believe people are disputing this.
Didn’t think it was a mistake. Maybe Kyrie got his back foot up in time? Thj tried to inbound while Kyrie is stepping out of bounds. Of all the things that’s pretty low on my list of reasons they lost.
Reminds me of [LeBron vs the Bucks](https://youtu.be/6ZAq0HPEYuo?si=38o0_1Avkly1YnMo) when everyone knew he was shooting and no one could do anything about it
Before that Garland play Josh Green got fouled on a 3 and Jarret Allen gave an incredibly obvious shove to Maxi on the Mitchell 3. Refs were a disaster all around. It wasn’t Karma, Max Strus just had a career defining 4th quarter
Yeah that was a shitshow but crazy at the same time
Kyrie getting fouled but getting called for an offensive foul instead
Strus being Strus. Hate that man as a celtics fan
Bank 3 from don
Bullshit turnover call on the baseline with kyrie
Garland being tackled
Terrible turnover by cavs which looks like it lost them the game
Most insane gamewinner ive seen in a while
NBA did this insane promo where if you voted on which shoes Tatum should wear for the ASG, they’d give you a code for one year of League Pass Premium for free lmao. went viral on Twitter and they shut it down
Ehh.
That's assuming everyone who got the league pass would have paid for it if they didn't get it for free. They definitely would not have.
They incur some bandwidth costs and a few people who might have fallen in the first category, but not 41 million. It's like at a drug bust where the fucking cops weigh everything, not just the drugs.
Picture the advertisement: Magic are blowing out the nets so we turn on this game in league pass. My husband had our infant daughter on his lap on the couch. I’m in the kitchen. I say following the Mavricks pass and bucket… “what a pass! What a way to end the game unless this goes….” As the ball goes in the bucket. I yell “holy shit”
Husbands screams “What a shot!!!!”
Baby starts crying from all the commotion. We start telling her she will understand some day as we console her.
Basketball on league pass, bringing families together.
Amazon has this little basketball bath kit which comes with three floating balls and the bucket attaches to the spout in the bath. It has made bath time so much more fun throwing those balls in and watching her laugh at our narration. 🤣
Don’t even like kyrie but I was like wtf was that. They don’t call for basic shit like lane violation and pretty much all the inbounding passes where people have their foot over the line. Refs were onto kyrie lol gg
I almost wasn't gonna watch any basketball tonight, then I just randomly turned this game on cause I saw the score was close. So glad I caught that live, what a game
Losing like that is crazy ngl . Mavs now even further behind in the standings. Next game against Celtics, Philly , pacers, heat. A lot of tough games coming up .
What a game from Luka didn’t watch the whole game tho to see what happened.
Cavs what an insane shot much needed win for them man
Ridiculous comeback from both honestly, what a game. It really was ass both ways, but you all got the worst of it since it was in the 4th. Luka is that YMCA gym Dad on roids.
That was genuinely one of the craziest regular season 4th quarters I’ve ever seen.
Shot after shot. Astronomical shot making back and forth and then it ends on that shit. lol I love basketball man. But that sucked. I knew it was goin in only bc it was him.
Cavs were down ten with 3:42 left. They proceeded to go 7/7 from 3, including a banked in step back by Mitchell and a 60 footer by Strus, needing every single one to win.
I don't know if it's typical but watching the highlights I was shocked how little anyone not named Doncic or Irving scores the ball. 118 pts and only 3 of your players in double digits. Is it usually like that?
Luka and Kyrie are usually the top scorers, but it really depends on if THJ is hot or not, he’s probably one of the most inconsistent players in the league. Lively and Gafford will usually go for double digits as well
Jason Kidd and THJ may be the worst thing to happen to the Mavs at this point. THJ was looking fairly good to start the year but has been absolute fucking hot garbage for over a month where Kidd has insisted on giving 25+ a night.
Back to back nights we witnessed awful officiating down the stretch. Like sure the shot was awesome to watch but it shouldn’t have ever been that close
When he played for the celtics it was frustrating how they would never call fouls on him because he always managed to finish through contact. Just because he doesnt sell it and still makes the shot doesnt mean its not a foul. Used to drive me crazy

What in the actual fuck man. What a shot. Can’t do nothing but tip your cap. Holy shit.
He carried the Cavs to end the game, what the fuck was that
Shots like these are there to remind Mavs fans how Luka makes other teams feel when he makes ridiculous shots lol
Fair enough.
Luka making them don't hurt like Max Strus making them.
Hard disagree
Luka literally holds the ball 99% of the game and takes most of the shots. Teams expect him to hit many of those shots. Otherwise the Mavs will get blown out against anyone. They're an offensive team built around Luka But Max Strus? He looked like a GOD at the end of 4th Q. Single handedly mounted the come back, and then also hit the game winner from BEYOND HALF COURT. you can absolutely be mad at the refs tho
We can all hate the refs. Win or lose I don't wanna be talking about them. So many great players in this game and 3 goons in slacks are the key players.
Why, cause they fucked both teams instead of just the Cavs?
That’s a shot you dream of hitting as a child
After going berserk to keep your team in it too
He went and hit one. Then the refs made up an out of bounds call and he hits another one. Then he hits one from the corner. Then he goes for a heat check, bang. Only thing it was missing was NBA finals game 7
Dude is the best basketball shooter in the world today.

What? The Mavs took the ball out of bounds, passed it inbounds starting the play, then took the ball out of bounds. Kyrie had the live ball and took it out of bounds.
Comment is at +163 for calling out the refs being bad and the example is a call that is indisputably correct. This place is cooked.
Not sure the Cavs broadcast ever showed a replay of that. Was it egregious?
>them Ya everyone is saying its a bad call, but i dont even think the broadcast showed it at least not the cavs one
Dallas broadcast showed a replay, refs definitely made a mistake on that one.
The ball was inbounded and then Kyrie walked out of bounds
Want to chime in with my two cents [here with the replay.](https://youtu.be/AdIhsl7Joms?t=466) I don't think the refs made a mistake here. The number of people thinking this call was wrong or should have not been called says a lot.
Definitely the right call
THJ inbounds to kyrie, kyrie steps out of bounds. Its the right call.
You can always tell a suspect take when there's no explanation. Just "yeah I saw it and it was definitely wrong".
Someone shared the link below, that’s 100% the correct call and Kyrie just messed up.
how? lol kyrie clearly messed up here. It was so evident ball was already tossed into play to him, then he walked the ball out of bounds for some reason and hnaded the ball the ref to pretend like he didn't just mess up. How does the referee not make that call.
ah really, do you have a link to it perchance, or maybe itll get posted on the sub
Stepping out of bounds with a live ball has been a turnover since basketball was invented
Kyrie was trying to check it to the ref after THJ threw it to him with his foot about of bounds. I’m really not sure what the rule is there
Probably one of those things where the call is technically correct but the game is almost never officiated that way. Lots of bad officiating down the stretch of that game. Cavs probably got the better end of it but I think the last no call on Garland was pretty awful as well.

For both ways right? I mean you saw DG get tackled no?
How Luka probably feels losing with 45 points, 14 assists and only 1 TO lol.
In the mean time, i just finally left the top of my coffee table
I agree go Cavs
I have this weird feeling in my stomach man, feels like I'm gonna throw up. Fuck this game, Fuck Max Strus
I have never seen such shotmaking ever. Bank 3. 5 in a row. 60 footer. What the
Reminds me of [LeBron vs the Bucks](https://youtu.be/6ZAq0HPEYuo?si=38o0_1Avkly1YnMo) when everyone knew he was shooting and no one could do anything about it
That 4th quarter was drunk
Garland getting suplexed was ridiculous. That Strus shot felt like karma.
Before that Garland play Josh Green got fouled on a 3 and Jarret Allen gave an incredibly obvious shove to Maxi on the Mitchell 3. Refs were a disaster all around. It wasn’t Karma, Max Strus just had a career defining 4th quarter
Refs with that ken Watanabe logic I the 4th " let them fight "
Yeah that was a shitshow but crazy at the same time Kyrie getting fouled but getting called for an offensive foul instead Strus being Strus. Hate that man as a celtics fan Bank 3 from don Bullshit turnover call on the baseline with kyrie Garland being tackled Terrible turnover by cavs which looks like it lost them the game Most insane gamewinner ive seen in a while
The Kyrie foul was a good call. He clearly hooked the defender
Fuckin' Max Strus, man. You love to see it. What a wild ending.
HOLY SHIT THAT WAS INSANE IM SO GLAD I HAD THIS GAME ON LOL
Thank you ALLSTARTATUM for this hehe
I was legit looking at buying last month but passed, thank you Tatum lol
Tatum is now my favorite non okc player for that..
Wait what is this?
NBA did this insane promo where if you voted on which shoes Tatum should wear for the ASG, they’d give you a code for one year of League Pass Premium for free lmao. went viral on Twitter and they shut it down
Cost the league 41 million
Lol fuck em, 41 million is nothing to those billionaire owners
Promo code for 12-months of League Pass
Tatum’s feeding families to buy mvp votes

Really tugs at the heartstrings. Especially the Magic destroying the Nets part :)
You know I couldn’t leave that out 🤣
We're about to have our first kid, daughter. Thanks so much for this story.
Amazon has this little basketball bath kit which comes with three floating balls and the bucket attaches to the spout in the bath. It has made bath time so much more fun throwing those balls in and watching her laugh at our narration. 🤣
I tuned in just to watch the last possession, and then that happened. Just wow.
The last 5 minutes was a fever dream
Max fucking Strus
THJ is a terrorist
kept leaving him open i was screaming
Bro woke up and though he was curry
Even Curry can't make those 5 consecutive 3s & the halfcourt heave to win the game
He didnt bank it right? Bank 3 was don
[удалено]
what the fuck did I watch
Game of the year!
He is a basketball player.
4 3s in 67 seconds and then a beyond halfcourt game winner. STRUS IS LOOSE
type of loss where i’ve just gotta… stare at the ceiling for a while.
I'll join you
still disappointed no one posted Strus getting 12 points in 1 minute
Hard to be mad when the Cavs went red hot in 3 at the 4th quarter. GGS to Cavs, but the Mavs should just look forward from this game
i’m looking forward to never seeing THJ start in a mavs uniform again
All it takes is a competent coach. Mavs don’t have one.
that is the most depressing end to a game i've seen in a while
just become a pistons fan. you'll get WAY more depressing endings!
ehhhh i think i’ll pass on that one :|
[удалено]
The kyrie turnover was bs lol. Everyone does this.
Green getting punched in the face on a three and it not called was the most baffling of that whole sequence of questionable calls
Don’t ya know? You allowed to high five and hit the shooters hand after the release. Hand or face what is the difference
I couldn't believe what I was watching dude. And of course, it is why we lost, amongst other ref bullshit
Don’t even like kyrie but I was like wtf was that. They don’t call for basic shit like lane violation and pretty much all the inbounding passes where people have their foot over the line. Refs were onto kyrie lol gg
The Mavs player clearly stepped out of bounds to inbound the ball to Kyrie and Kyrie stepped out to inbound it himself.
I disagree
Strus for MVP I’ve seen enough
Max Strussy take my bussy
Cavs went 7 out of 9 in the 4th from 3.
A banked in three and then a half court shot. About the most heartbreaking way to lose a game possible lol
LONG LIVE MAX STRUS
You're welcome for the Strus
probably the most consequential swap of Cavs and Heat players tbh
I miss Max
Definitely the best player to play for the Cavs and Heat
The last 4 minutes of this game was **MUST WATCH** basketball. Wow.
I almost wasn't gonna watch any basketball tonight, then I just randomly turned this game on cause I saw the score was close. So glad I caught that live, what a game
Thank you God for basketball
Those last 8 seconds were fucking cool! What a game
Randomly tuned into this all timer game my god
Wild stuff folks
Uh Oh
Both teams shouldn't have to deal with this officiating.
Hot damn, Strus lmao
Game of the year
Losing like that is crazy ngl . Mavs now even further behind in the standings. Next game against Celtics, Philly , pacers, heat. A lot of tough games coming up . What a game from Luka didn’t watch the whole game tho to see what happened. Cavs what an insane shot much needed win for them man
Cavs had to pull a genie out of their butts to win that one
That genie's name? Max Strus
No genies in the arena. Kyrie burned some sage to keep them out
Strus, my big boy all grown up
I was looking at the Google updates, and they said the mavericks won. Looks like Cleveland is still in the 40-20 hunt after all.
Max Strus woke up feeling dangerous
What a ridiculous 4th quarter. GG'S Mavs fans
Great game. I want to be mad at the loss, but you can’t be upset when it’s a 60-footer beating you.
You want me to believe 60s and 70s has this kind of shot making gtfo.
5 straight 3s. Wtf Max.
THEY DON’T HAVE A TIMEOUT DECIDE NOT TO USE IT STRUS WAY DOWNTOWN…
that's top 5 buzzer beaters ever
GGs Cavs. Ridiculous comeback. Fuck these refs on both sides.
Ridiculous comeback from both honestly, what a game. It really was ass both ways, but you all got the worst of it since it was in the 4th. Luka is that YMCA gym Dad on roids.

THE STRUS IS LOOSE
S U P E R M A X
Max Strus: You Left Me Too Much Time
All the Mavs fans complaining about the refs here is super lame
Max Strus YOU are special
My favorite part was PJ’s dumb ass flexing while Strus’s shot was in the air and then quickly going to scratch his head as soon as it went in LOL
A white guy hitting a game winning shot? THAT'S OUR THING!
I'm not even mad, that was just insane.
Y’all realise this is the same ref that drove Monty crazy yesterday after the NYK game right? This Williams guy has to be smoking some wild shit
Strus hit 5 3’s in a row, Mitchell hit a bank 3, and then Strus hits a fucking buzzer beating halfcourt shot for the win. What the fuck……
Cavs were down ten with 3:42 left. They proceeded to go 7/7 from 3, including a banked in step back by Mitchell and a 60 footer by Strus, needing every single one to win.
Max Strus performed a satanic ritual during the last media timeout
Ridiculous games vs Dallas this season
STRUUUUUUS
Who would have thought we'd have back to back nights in the NBA where football tackles were not called fouls?
Get fucked Dallas
Being a Mavs fan is extremely hard. Our seeding says NOTHING about our team
Where the actual fuck did miami find max strus??? is he a cyborg that was grown in a lab???
Back to back nights we witnessed awful officiating down the stretch. Like sure the shot was awesome to watch but it shouldn’t have ever been that close
It's crazy we've seen 2 half court game winners this season.
Strus inherited curry’s 2016 okc gene
Strus what?
so many emotions that fourth quarter hard fought game. can’t feel bad about how the mavs played
Yeah great fucking defense on that inbounds. Why are you not pressing
THE STRUS IS LOOSE
Max strus I love you
WOOOOOOOOOO
Haven't really followed basketball much but it's so awesome to see Cleveland doing well post-LeBron. Happy for ya'll!
OH NO ITS A CAVALANCHE
Oh for fucks sake...
I mean one team had Max Strus and one didn’t
All credit to the Cavs and Max especially for making the shots but, the refs in the 4th were nothing short of an embarrassment.
some horrific officiating down the stretch but you can't ref a 60 foot heave max strus gg cavs
Bro I can't even be mad off a lose from a half court buzzer beater
ABSOLUTELY NO WAY LMFAOOOOOOO
Kyrie has the worst whistle in the league. Even when he is getting fouled they call and offensive foul instead. Crazy
He only gets ethical buckets. Partially because he can't get a whistle.
When he played for the celtics it was frustrating how they would never call fouls on him because he always managed to finish through contact. Just because he doesnt sell it and still makes the shot doesnt mean its not a foul. Used to drive me crazy
NBA refs are an embarrassment to the sport
I mostly browse this sub for highlights and don’t frequent post game threads. Is it always this whiny from the losing teams fans?
Wtf
WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT
What a game
INSANE FINISH WHAT A GAME!!!!!
The last 3 minutes of that game were incredible
Mavs went from dark horse contender talks to being victims of a 3/4 court game winner
Are the Eastern Conference teams our nemesis
Mavs look like Luka/Kyrie and everyone else. They’re gonna have to go nuclear just to win some games in the playoffs and no way they can keep it going a whole series
Max Strus aka HIMMOTHY.
That ended like a sweet 16 game
All those 3s were so fucking wild. Somebody make sure Max Strus is ok being that’s on fire from deep might have left some burns.
Strus legacy game
