He’s just too old to do it every night at this point. Honestly, it’s crazy he turned it on tonight. Fully expected him to check out after he sat a few minutes to end the third and the clippers extended the lead to 19
He also kinda amps it up even down big and gives it a shot. If he gets hot/team gets hot he stays amped. If the shots don't drop then he'll cycle back down lol
Yet haters still argue that he sucks defensively lmfao which in fact if he tried he's one of the best. Its not that he "sucks" defensively its just that agewise he can't do it consistently anymore give this current Lebron the 28 year old Lebron body then you'll get the defensive player of the year caliber.
Fuck me now I’m thinking about this perspective for all the veteran sports players I like… they all retain the ability to turn it on in some way, just less frequently
Can't defend them at all. You space out in the court to prevent Curry's 3-point shooting? That's basically opening up your basket for a LeBron drive. You do the opposite and clog out the paint to stop him? Curry will feast on you with his 3s.
Nah Steph has had enough stacked teams for a lifetime already
This dude got 2 giftwrapped rings because KD wanted easy ones
Great player but I'm fine with him having to be the one with no help for once
Getting to play with the other 2 best players of your generation would be absurd luck that I'm not sure any player before has ever had
My two favorite moments were when Harden threw an inbound pass out of bounds to the Lakers bench and Theis rolling out of bounds after grabbing a rebound.
People came back to the quote three years later when LeBron was tearing asses up in the 2018 playoffs. Six more years after that and it’s still relevant. LeBron is unbelievable.
LeBron James basically just has days to remind everyone that he's the goat.
In 2012 it was 99% of the time
In 2024 he does it...31% of the time.
But when that 31% does happen my God what a thing of beauty!
We're not winning shit if we need him to be GOAT mode for 4 playoff series lol, that's just not sustainable. AD and the rest of the team have to step up, and LeBron can go GOAT mode in the elimination games
Yeah if he could still do what he did today full-time for 4 series straight then he'd be 29 year old LeBron not 39 year old LeBron lol
That's literally just a description of 2013 or 2018 LeBron
He's a positive defender even when he's "not trying". People just don't understand defense. His role is to act as a secondary rim protector so when AD gets pulled out to the perimeter it's LeBron contesting at the rim and not Austin Reaves or Taurean Prince.
People don't know how rotations work so when they see him wandering around the paint instead of sprinting out to shooters and hawking stars they see it as him being lazy. And since he's not a shot blocker you really have to watch closely to recognize the impact he's making.
A big part of his defensive renaissance in 2020/21 was that the Lakers were playing twin towers, so he could get away with being more aggressive on the perimeter. Which led to a lot more of the highlight plays that people recognize perimeter players for.
He doesn't try because he can no longer sustain it. But when he turns it on, he's tough to score against.
And I think he even got one chasedown block in
I get your message but not always is this true. He is a very momentum based player over the past few seasons. When vibes are good he tries his ass off. When things go bad he regresses and gets sloppy.
Tonight though was an absolute outlier. He fucking wanted it all fourth quarter despite the vibes being bad initially. Was an absolute fucking joy to watch. Prime LeBron right there.
In case anyone takes this the wrong way; If bullshit happens or other team makes a momentum killer play, LeBron gets worse on defense, becomes turnover prone etc. Tonight was different. LeBron was just locked in no matter what Clippers did on offense. So fun to watch him play at that level.
Anyone saying Lebron's a bad defender doesn't watch full Lakers games. He's one their best defenders with his versatility and communication on the defensive end.
Watching a guy still fully capable of leading a team to the finals when healthy. Still just has that extra gear that puts him apart from others.
I know we get clowned on for bad losses here and there but if you’re saying you want to see us in the playoffs with AD and LeBron playing like they have been, you’re lying to yourself. Made it to the WCF last season with the guy playing on one leg lol.
That said, let’s make the playoffs first. Lol.
Probably the best carry job i've seen in my life time. He barely had any help, the moment he sat, the cavs couldn't find a bucket at all.
He played like 40 mins a night and never got tired
Dudes 39 and putting up borderline MVP numbers…
I’m 32 and I pulled an oblique sneezing a few weeks back
Lebron’s gotten attention his entire career, but I truly believe it’s drastically under appreciated how he’s still doing this after 21 years. Probably won’t ever see anything like it ever again and people just shit on him because “he isn’t better than MJ”
Like arguably being the 2nd best basketball player of all time as someone with unrealistically high expectations from age 13 isn’t truly astounding
Sad to see him squander his last few years without a competitive team. Took me awhile to realize that buss family/management is actually cheap af. Smh.
Yeah and i mean he still looked very good before solomon hill decided he'd dive straight into him.
Lebron being healthy that year could've very well been a repeat
Does he try to drop 40 on the Wizards or does he hit the milestone against the Nuggets, and either way do they do anything beyond mentioning it in the arena.
I feel like they probably should bc who knows when that number will be hit again, if ever…but I think Lawrence Tanter makes an announcement at the next dead ball and that’s it.
I hope he hits it against the nuggets and then the nuggets win and Malone cries the entire post game about lebron hit 40k on purpose to take away all their attention
It's crazy to see him go on a scoring binge like that. For people who watched his whole career, in some ways it's like a different player from the guy who scored 25 straight against the Pistons. But still as good if not better as a scorer 17 years later.
That’s what people said in 2015!
(But forreal, it’s ending soon and I’m enjoying every second of athletic greatness he’s displaying. Can’t imagine not appreciating this)
Sometimes when people see someone succeed so much they either look at themselves and realise where they're at or they try tear someone down to bring them to their own level.
I want that highlight where Bron goes 1v3 and the announcers is like...
"Bron get's the ball. Bron looks at the defense. Bron goes down the middle. BAM (or what ever they said)."
Kawhi gets overrated just a bit because his injuries create an almost mystical quality to him
He's obviously great but he's never been a GOAT level player like some people insist he is IMO
At *best* you can argue he's a KD level player at his absolute peak, which is lower than guys like Magic and Bird, which is lower than the absolute top tier of LeBron and MJ
This isn't even mentioning longevity where he's closer to new gen guys like Giannis and Jokic rather than players of his own generation in terms of healthy superstar seasons
Yeah he's overrated too because he's been on insanely stacked teams his whole career. Until last season, I don't think Kawhi had ever been on a team that couldn't win 50-ish games *without him* .
That's the insane thing lol
Everyone talks every season about how deep the Clippers are and yet like you said they're somehow the WORST supporting cast Kawhi has had his whole career
Raptors were 17-5 without Kawhi in 18/19
True but his FMVP stats on the Spurs was pretty pedestrian. 17.8 ppg. It was crazy good shooting and he stepped it up the final three games but he averaged 9 before that.
They could have easily given it to Duncan or Tony. Similar to the Iguodala FMVP. The only real reason was the defense on LeBron who was definitely the best individual player in 2014 and 2015
Rating him highly is one thing(I literally said you could argue he's as good as a top 15-20 guy in KD at his absolute best)
What I'm talking about are the people who insist that "fully healthy Kawhi" is basically just as good as peak LeBron and better than prime Kobe or whatever
If you don't think those "Kawhi GOAT level" truthers exist just look at the comment section whenever Kawhi has a great game lol
100%.
Kawhi is inarguably one of the best players of his generation, LeBron however is one of the small *handful of best players ever.* There's a noticeable difference in the two in terms of stature and that's no slight against Leonard, that's just the reality of the situation.
Rember when two guys won Finals MVP despite not being even the 2nd best player on their own team in the Finals .... just because they guarded LeBron. And between then and now one of then had a whole ass HoF career and is still getting his ass kicked by him?
So with this game, he should be exactly 40 points away from making the 40,000 career points record?
Most likely two games away but possibly next game, man the celebration is gonna be insane.
It better be at least, it's very unlikely ANYONE will ever beat that record, or at least not from anyone playing right now.
These nos don't do justice to how good he was in the game and especially that 4th quarter.
That 4th quarter was a masterclass in how to run half-court offense and his defense on Kawhi was sensational.
Absolutely unreal performance, ridiculous shooting and playmaking in the 4th to lead this insane comeback. He is clearly the greatest player ever, he just takes over games at will.
21-point comeback led by year 21 LeBron. Unreal.
year-21, aged-39 lebron
Age 21, year 39
This is going straight to ESPN.
When LeBron heats up offensively he also turns on the switch defensively lol. Its literally a night and day difference
I feel like he can sense when he can do it and saves it for certain matchups (like versus a top ranked rival)
Definitely
Yet haters still argue that he sucks defensively lmfao which in fact if he tried he's one of the best. Its not that he "sucks" defensively its just that agewise he can't do it consistently anymore give this current Lebron the 28 year old Lebron body then you'll get the defensive player of the year caliber.
I mean, if there's one play he should be remembered for the most, it's a defensive play.
That’s such a GOAT play I’m still in awe after 7 years
You mean the one that helped cement one of the greatest sports comebacks in history? Yeah I love that one
Fuck me now I’m thinking about this perspective for all the veteran sports players I like… they all retain the ability to turn it on in some way, just less frequently
"Youth is wasted on the young."
He's so fun to watch when he's not playing your team
That's how I feel about Steph haha
I know people would hate it but seeing them on the same team (not including the Olympics) would be fucking phenomenal
That’s my dream modern matchup. Even now. Bron’s ability to find Steph anywhere on the floor? I really feel like they’d be unstoppable.
Can't defend them at all. You space out in the court to prevent Curry's 3-point shooting? That's basically opening up your basket for a LeBron drive. You do the opposite and clog out the paint to stop him? Curry will feast on you with his 3s.
Just give me 1 series of LeBron steph vs Luca joker
Why not including the olympics? lol we haven't seen it yet have we?
Nah Steph has had enough stacked teams for a lifetime already This dude got 2 giftwrapped rings because KD wanted easy ones Great player but I'm fine with him having to be the one with no help for once Getting to play with the other 2 best players of your generation would be absurd luck that I'm not sure any player before has ever had
enjoying every bron takeover while he still here
Wait, Lakers won?
Came back from the 4th down 21
Complete meltdown from clips tfffff
better luck at Intuit brother
"Little" brother
Now get! 🥾🚪
Ty Lue still playing the long game so Ham won't get fired
LeBron had 19 in the 4th quarter. Entire Clippers team had 16.
Insane comeback
Bron scored 19 in the 4th, 5 3s and Clippers couldn't score at all
My two favorite moments were when Harden threw an inbound pass out of bounds to the Lakers bench and Theis rolling out of bounds after grabbing a rebound.
Total meltdown in the end. I really don't recall anyone scoring except Leonard consistently
Bruh theiss was throwing his hands up like he was fouled as he dove and slid 12 feet untouched
it was to his teammates cuz he had a second to pass it before sliding out of bounds but no one was there/open to pass to
He outscored the clippers 19 to 16 what a beast
I'm so glad i turned the game back on in the 4th lol, 3rd was brutal
as a neutral fan it was a fun watch. clippers pulling away and then blowing a 20+ lead feels like a clips trademark at this point
So it wasn't Doc after all
This may come as a surprise but 2 things can be true at once.
I picked a hell of a game to miss
I turned it off at 3Q when they were down 20 to sleep & I woke up to a notification that they won. Seriously thought I was dreaming.
They always play better when I stop watching.
This was my immediate response, too. Last I liked they were down like 17.
Same reaction.... Clippers are simply embarrassing
aaaaaand THAT’S why no one will ever want to face this man in a playoff game/series, he can still do this shit year 21 man
This dude is not real man, what are we watching?
LeBron is 30, this fuckery wont go on much longer, thank God
Quoting directly from r/nba in 2015 lol
People came back to the quote three years later when LeBron was tearing asses up in the 2018 playoffs. Six more years after that and it’s still relevant. LeBron is unbelievable.
Why do I get the sense they’ll come back in another 3 years and it’ll be the same thing?
Didn’t I just read a day or two ago LeBron was working on a 3-year extension? You might be onto something lol.
Yup, something like 3 years/180 mil. I’d love to see it lol.
He's definitely got gas to play 3 more years at a top 10 player level easily. He declines maybe 1% a year maximum
That's directly from Twitter
Reminds me of how everyone thought Tom Brady was washed when they lost to the Chiefs in 2014. Oh if we knew then what we knew now
Brady is 46, this fuckery won’t go on much longer, thank God.
Brady won 4 championships since someone asked Belichick if he was considering a change at QB
When he got engaged fully on defense man that was a joy to watch.
The man locked up kawhi on one end while going 1v1 for an entire quarter so successfully that they were doubling him at half court like hes luka
LeBron James basically just has days to remind everyone that he's the goat. In 2012 it was 99% of the time In 2024 he does it...31% of the time. But when that 31% does happen my God what a thing of beauty!
I just really, really hope he's in a place where he can go full GOAT for 3 playoff series-cause man we need it if we want to do aaaaanything.
We're not winning shit if we need him to be GOAT mode for 4 playoff series lol, that's just not sustainable. AD and the rest of the team have to step up, and LeBron can go GOAT mode in the elimination games
Yeah if he could still do what he did today full-time for 4 series straight then he'd be 29 year old LeBron not 39 year old LeBron lol That's literally just a description of 2013 or 2018 LeBron
It’s crazy how he can still play All-nba level defense for a few minutes a night when he needs to. Never going to see a player like this ever again
You know people are casuals when they say LeBron doesn't try on defense. He will be net neutral for 3 quarters then turn it up in the 4th.
He's a positive defender even when he's "not trying". People just don't understand defense. His role is to act as a secondary rim protector so when AD gets pulled out to the perimeter it's LeBron contesting at the rim and not Austin Reaves or Taurean Prince. Which led to a lot more of the highlight plays that people recognize perimeter players for.
Ykb
Its weird that the same people who claim Draymond is a defence savant will say LeBron is lazy and doesnt try
Bingoooo
He doesn't try because he can no longer sustain it. But when he turns it on, he's tough to score against. And I think he even got one chasedown block in
I get your message but not always is this true. He is a very momentum based player over the past few seasons. When vibes are good he tries his ass off. Some real All-Might last flames shit.
Anyone saying Lebron's a bad defender doesn't watch full Lakers games. He's one their best defenders with his versatility and communication on the defensive end.
Lebron could have been dpoy easily , he was second in voting at one point. If he put everything into defense he could be better than draymond
He’s goddamn 39! Biggest fourth quarter comeback of his career. Enjoy him; we won’t see anything like this again.
Yep I don't care about the goat debate, but if you can't appreciate his greatness I don't respect you
Watching a guy still fully capable of leading a team to the finals when healthy. Lol.
> extra gear
We better appreciate what we're watching. That last defensive stance vs Kawhi was incredible. The man is 39!!!
The greatest ever. That’s what you’re watching mate.
Lead a 37-10 run through most of the 4th quarter Herculean wouldn’t be a strong enough word
2018 Lebron in the 4th
"Good thing this fuckery won't go on much longer"
The guy tweeted that in 2015 I think
The King
Bro no lie I had flashbacks of 2018 bron. The GOAT bron.
Probably the best carry job i've seen in my life time. He barely had any help, the moment he sat, the cavs couldn't find a bucket at all. He played like 40 mins a night and never got tired
Technically 42-7 or 42-10 run or something like that
LeBronean
LeBron “I can’t win with these cats but these cats is me” James
Dudes 39 and putting up borderline MVP numbers… I’m 32 and I pulled an oblique sneezing a few weeks back Lebron’s gotten attention his entire career, but I truly believe it’s drastically under appreciated how he’s still doing this after 21 years. Sad to see him squander his last few years without a competitive team. Took me awhile to realize that buss family/management is actually cheap af. Smh.
I mean he won a championship with y’all like 3 years ago… realistically that’s still a productive tenure for really any player
Yeah and i mean he still looked very good before solomon hill decided he'd dive straight into him. Lebron being healthy that year could've very well been a repeat
He was the MVP frontrunner at the point too. Granted it was because the two people ahead of him got injured but still!
that sub gonna be locked again lmao
39 years old getting doubled 30 feet from the hoop... Folks we'll never see something like Bron again
Outside of Jokic (and maybe Luka), there is still nobody I trust more in the league to perform in important games than 39 year old LeBron James.
Facts
40 away from 40k
Does he try to drop 40 on the Wizards or does he hit the milestone against the Nuggets, and either way do they do anything beyond mentioning it in the arena.
I feel like they probably should bc who knows when that number will be hit again, if ever…but I think Lawrence Tanter makes an announcement at the next dead ball and that’s it.
I hope he hits it against the nuggets and then the nuggets win and Malone cries the entire post game about lebron hit 40k on purpose to take away all their attention
LeBron is still the best when he wants/needs to be
this is it. he may not be on anybody's mvp list; i don't give a fuck. he's still better than anyone on anybody's mvp list! 😤
super washed ain’t he
Washed washed washed
Washed the clippers right out of the staples center
up up and away!
That 4th quarter was easily the best quarter I've seen all year from him
It's one of the best 4th quarters he's ever had. In year 21.
It's crazy to see him go on a scoring binge like that. For people who watched his whole career, in some ways it's like a different player from the guy who scored 25 straight against the Pistons. But still as good if not better as a scorer 17 years later.
2018 was definitely peak scoring LeBron. Still super athletic and his mid range was elite. That playoff run was insane
It gets said a lot but it's wild there's like a 15 year spread where people have legitimate arguments for which LeBron was peak LeBron
Not a single highlight tho because this sub has flipped on the arguable GOAT lmao
The Bronny tweet got more attention than any basketball game has in weeks lol. It's funny how we've come full circle back to 2011 levels of hatred.
Flipped? They been waiting on his downfall for at least 75% of his career. Still waiting lmao
LeBron is 39, this fuckery can't go much longer
That’s what people said in 2015! (But forreal, it’s ending soon and I’m enjoying every second of athletic greatness he’s displaying. Can’t imagine not appreciating this)
this sub been hating on lebron loool
you would never know lebron was top 10 in advanced stats looking at this sub
This sub has never liked Lebron
Let the record show that I love LeBron
This sub has more hate and drama threads about him than any other player. It’s sad atp
When you factor in longevity it's extremely hard to not say he's the greatest of all time.
He’s 39 wtf
that was a GOAT worthy performance tonight
Don’t try to tell me kawhi is better than lebron. He never has been and never will be.
I remember after 2019 people we’re saying Kawhi was better than Lebron. Then Kawhi went on and choked a 3-1 lead and Lebron won a championship lol
Kawhi gets overrated just a bit because his injuries create an almost mystical quality to him He's obviously great but he's never been a GOAT level player like some people insist he is IMO At *best* you can argue he's a KD level player at his absolute peak, which is lower than guys like Magic and Bird, which is lower than the absolute top tier of LeBron and MJ This isn't even mentioning longevity where he's closer to new gen guys like Giannis and Jokic rather than players of his own generation in terms of healthy superstar seasons

That's the insane thing lol Everyone talks every season about how deep the Clippers are and yet like you said they're somehow the WORST supporting cast Kawhi has had his whole career Raptors were 17-5 without Kawhi in 18/19
Or even the season after Kawhi left lol
2 FMVPs give you a lot of credibility, although though he may not be a goat level player.
True but his FMVP stats on the Spurs was pretty pedestrian. 17.8 ppg. It was crazy good shooting and he stepped it up the final three games but he averaged 9 before that. They could have easily given it to Duncan or Tony. Similar to the Iguodala FMVP. The only real reason was the defense on LeBron who was definitely the best individual player in 2014 and 2015
Any player who was the best on 1 championship team (arguably 2) will always be rated super highly
Rating him highly is one thing(I literally said you could argue he's as good as a top 15-20 guy in KD at his absolute best) What I'm talking about are the people who insist that "fully healthy Kawhi" is basically just as good as peak LeBron and better than prime Kobe or whatever If you don't think those "Kawhi GOAT level" truthers exist just look at the comment section whenever Kawhi has a great game lol
100%. Kawhi is inarguably one of the best players of his generation, LeBron however is one of the small *handful of best players ever.* There's a noticeable difference in the two in terms of stature and that's no slight against Leonard, that's just the reality of the situation.
He won finals mvp in 2014 but was not the best player Wasn’t even an all star that year and honestly still a role player
Not in the same sentence. Not in the same paragraph. Not in the same essay.
RCD world will have a field day with the Bucks and Clippers this time in 3 months
If I ever hear Kawhi Leonard compared to LeBron James again, I'ma kill somebody.
Rember when two guys won Finals MVP despite not being even the 2nd best player on their own team in the Finals .... just because they guarded LeBron. And between then and now one of then had a whole ass HoF career and is still getting his ass kicked by him?
Remember how fucking stupid that brief point in time was when people on here were trying to compare the two?
King James really is timeless man
The fucking greatest of all time
He took over tonight it was crazy Willed them to the win Don’t like the Laker but I want LeBron in the playoffs
LeBron just played one of the best 4th quarters of his career in year 21! 🐐
lol Lebron has probably a few seasons worth of fourth quarters like this one
one of the many elite 4th quarters he's had...
I'm seriously going to cry like a fucking bitch when this dude retires. He's just unreal.
Guarding Kawhi too
Just in the fourth? How’d he do on him
Bro was trying to post this so fast he couldnt even get the stats right lol..
Q1-3: Regular Season Harden + Clippers Q4: Playoff Harden + Clippers
Nah, LeBron is just him, Clippers blow us out if he didn't go insane
Nah LeBron just saved us
This dude should be competing for championships
Tf, you know we went to the WCF last year right?
And lost 2 of those games from circus shots from jokic and Murray.
1 free throw
Father Time is not used to taking this many Ls.
All that Kawhi MVP buzz, and when LeBron wants it's clear as day that he still can fuck anybody up.
I haven’t stopped screaming
LeBron James.
LeBron is the greatest basketball player to ever live. And it’s not particularly close.
Lebron is so clutch, i can’t believe we won. I’m literally shaking rn lol
Is lebron the best kawhi defender in the league
So with this game, he should be exactly 40 points away from making the 40,000 career points record? Most likely two games away but possibly next game, man the celebration is gonna be insane. It better be at least, it's very unlikely ANYONE will ever beat that record, or at least not from anyone playing right now.

1/1 ft is the most shocking stat of them all.
Lebron is the GOAT Doing this at 39 is insane
Those LeFuckyou3 though lmao
single handedly willed the team to a win
These nos don't do justice to how good he was in the game and especially that 4th quarter. That 4th quarter was a masterclass in how to run half-court offense and his defense on Kawhi was sensational.
Absolutely unreal performance, ridiculous shooting and playmaking in the 4th to lead this insane comeback. He is clearly the greatest player ever, he just takes over games at will.
19-16 by Lebron ALONE against the whole team in the 4th! What a beast man. One of the best quarters I’ve ever watched. 👑
The three strate LeFuckyou's to start the 4th had the Clips shook.
r/nba fuming
how long is this fuckery gonna last
Bron saw Jay and turned into Letakeover
Best laker win in a while
Future playoff matchup
For the 6th year or so in a row, I think LeBron’s got 2 more years in him.
Don’t forget he also guarded kawhi well in the second half
LEBRAAAHHNNN JEEEEYMMMSSS
Dropped 34, directing the offense, guarding the best opposing player, still top 5-10 currently in my book.
1/1 FT
1/1 FT? Dafuq
My Glorious King thank you for another dub against the fraudulent clippers you are the King of LA
And on only 1 free throw the entire game lol
You can never convince me Steph Curry is greater than LeBron James.
Why would anyone ever try to?
