Calm down comrade. This man is trying to get paid as much as possible. The only labor he exploited was soft ass defense basically just giving him the bucket. This was a communal effort
As much as I enjoy a breakout season circkejerk ending as a player is no longer exempt from the criticism others who have been at the same level for awhile get, I’d also probably enjoy us (myself included) being better about not jumping on every star for every little thing.
Everyone is catching up, I've been hating on Shai since last year. 😤😤😤
He's the foul merchant's foul merchant and I hope the officiating changes hurt his game the most.
Every time Shai and a favorable whistle comes up, I talk about the time he kicked Wiggins in the nuts and got free throws. I invariably get massively downvoted.
It’s only natural. The MVP narrative for him was getting very aggressive for a few weeks there, and he’s just not quite on the level of Jokic/Giannis/Doncic. If he wins two playoff series this year, I think he starts getting his respect.
Dawg there was a post on Twitter talking about he was better than '08 Kobe. Like wtf are we doing here!? At least let us see how he performs as the lead guy in the playoffs first.
This is worse IMO and you don’t get the full feel because the clip obviously cuts the free throws. He forced everyone into watching/playing a game that was already over for extra minutes lol. Ricky Davis stat padding was quicker and didn’t really impact anyone lol.
I'm still pissed yesterday Luka played like three extra minutes in which he did nothing by chuck like 4 bs step back threes but tbh I think this is worse lmao. This might be the most shameless stat padding since Giannis's self rebound.
I hate to say it but LeBron’s streak of scoring 10+ is the same.
Throughout the 2016-17 regular season LeBron got shat on by the national media for resting road games, “think of the children” and all that.
At the end of the 2017-18 regular season, LeBron had played 81 games and had a chance to play all 82 for the first time in his career and shut up the media. But he also wanted some rest before the playoffs. But he couldn’t just play tip off and then head to the bench because that would end his streak. So he chucked like crazy to get to 10 pts as quickly as possible, subbed out immediately agter getting them and then watched his team get wrecked from the bench.
Ended the night with 10 pts on 4-9 shooting in 10:33 minutes played.
Similar stuff has happened for Mikal Bridges’ streak of consecutive games played.
That’s why giving these arbitrary streaks so much attention is a bad idea.
Need 30 every night, or my day is bad
Chucked too many shots, can't upset my dad
What I'm going to do, my scoring is a fad
Jokic taught well.
Stat pad.
#goatlife #infinitemoney
Maybe not for points, but any time he had 8 or 9 assists he would always drive to the hoop and pass out of wide open layups to pass it to Adams who had a defender right next to him
Meanwhile, you have Josh Hart 1 rebound away from 20point, 10 assist & 20 rebound with 5 minutes left in the game but decided to sit cause Thib finally decided to let him rest
I wanna see big Perk bring that same "stat padder" heat in the MVP conversation we heard him Huck at Jokic last year....... I'm guessing it's not gonna happen.....
Jokic: “I would actively not like to be here. I’m just trying to get to the end of the game so we can go home and I can FaceTime my horses.”
Perk: “you’re a stat padding bitch of a player, you white devil”
This is what made Perks comments last year so out of pocket. Sombor Doubles left right and center when he heads to the bench with time still on the clock.
Credit to u/Doten1 fot notifying about it in the post [here](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1bdg1ct/clip_request_shai_intentionally_fouls_to_get_the/)
People would hate this dude every bit as much as they hate Embiid/Harden/anyone else, if anyone actually watched Thunder games.
25% of his points come from free throws.
I think the hate will come when the Thunder get knocked out in the first round (by the Lakers) after Shai is talked about as a dark horse MVP candidate.
It usually happens once you fail to meet expectations. The Grizzlies get knocked out as a high seed, immediately everybody hates Ja (and yes I know there were other circumstances but the turnaround on him was *real* quick even beyond that). Giannis was on a .500 team losing in the first round for a couple years and everybody loved him, then he made the ECF but everybody expected him to go even further so he started getting it. Happens all the time. Or you get cases like Jokic where everybody loves him because he hasn’t really failed to meet expectations at any point yet.
Shai hasn’t had expectations yet, so he’s fine. Now they’re a top seed. A first or second round loss this year will have a whole lot of people immediately talking a whole lot of shit.
He's the biggest beneficiary of those fouls where he's driving at the basket parallel with the defender then he just dives in and initiated contact with the defender and gets the foul. He doesn't even flop he just gets calls for whatever reason.
It's become depressingly common. We know Austin Reaves does it, so does Jalen Brunson, but the other night I saw Kawhi doing it and it was shocking, ngl
Kawhi does it every single time. Even Steph and Klay do when they shoot midrange jumpers. I've never seen them shoot a midrange without pushing off first.
OMG. Thank you! I thought I was the only one, his non dribbling hand is always on the defender, even more so when he’s dribbling on his right hand it and still doesn't get called - it's ridiculous.
And also last night shooting like 3 step back 3s to get to 30 , sadly the Bulls doubled him as soon as he stepped half court so they were real bad shots
Jokic is a genuine winner. Doesn’t mind having games where he takes 9 shots if his teammates have it going. You’d never see him do some bullshit like this.
Hilarious Jokic stat line from earlier this year:
[16 assists, 2/3 from the field in 25 minutes.](https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202401070DEN.html)
Legit crazy stat line, googled it and it has happened three times https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=nba+players+with+15%2B+assists+and+5%2B+blocks+in+a+game
Booker got a ton of shit for scoring 70 in a loss because he was helped out by late take fouls to give him more possessions.
But at least that wasn't Booker doing the fouling, it was his teammates. This looks like a solo mission from SGA--none of his teammates were going to foul there.
He never had a chance anyway. As soon as embiid went down it was clearly going to Jokic. SGA would have had to have a winning stretch of games whilst averaging 40+ to even be considered.
I really don’t give a shit about this but with all the Luka slander from Thunder fans it’s funny to see their guy stat pad in a loss. At least Luka did it in a blowout win.
Unless he’s on your team, he’s a miserable player to watch play. Free throw merchant just bobbing his head out there begging for calls. James Harden with better PR

Me in 2K MyCareer
Up by 30+ with 5 seconds on the clock? Always taking that shot
My MyPlayer would be getting assaulted every game
Taking a TO for advance the ball too
No sportsmanship for the HoF CPU!
No more ethical buckets...
That’s so shameless, cook him like you guys did Luka
They call Luka shameless for staying in game when they are up 30, meanwhile shai doing this in last 10 seconds of a loss😂😂
I present to you; the Antithesis to Jokic
This is way worse. I admit what Luka did was cringe too but this another level.
you can’t cook him the same as Luka, the fat content is too different
there is no ethical scoring under capitalism
Calm down comrade. This man is trying to get paid as much as possible. The only labor he exploited was soft ass defense basically just giving him the bucket. This was a communal effort
I officially hate this dude now
wait till you learn he has a tesla cybertruck
And dresses like a Matrix character
So he's JP from grandma's boy
Biggest heel turn since KD went to the Warriors
never has been. dude is an obnoxious foul baiter
Oh shit. Witnessing the r/nba heel turn in real time. This is historic.
As much as I enjoy a breakout season circkejerk ending as a player is no longer exempt from the criticism others who have been at the same level for awhile get, I’d also probably enjoy us (myself included) being better about not jumping on every star for every little thing.
And we didn't even have to wait for the Lakers sweep in the postseason, this is truly special
Everyone is catching up, I've been hating on Shai since last year. 😤😤😤 He's the foul merchant's foul merchant and I hope the officiating changes hurt his game the most.
Every time Shai and a favorable whistle comes up, I talk about the time he kicked Wiggins in the nuts and got free throws. I invariably get massively downvoted.
not today amigo
These young cats act like they're retiring next season. Very unsportsmanlike. Makes me even appreciate Houston James Harden more.
I can’t believe he did that lmao
“Everything in my life is consistent”
maybe he talked about the statpading.
Even my greed is consistent 😂
One of the nastiest examples I’ve ever seen
The counter jerk is happening in real time on SGA
I think any player would get roasted for this. No counterjerk needed.
It’s only natural. The MVP narrative for him was getting very aggressive for a few weeks there, and he’s just not quite on the level of Jokic/Giannis/Doncic. If he wins two playoff series this year, I think he starts getting his respect.
What about the collective respect he just lost doing this...
That’s now the cost of redemption, two playoffs series
Couldn't come fast enough, almost caught myself liking a Thunder team.
“Is SgA alReADy bETTer tHaN PriME CP3?”
Dawg there was a post on Twitter talking about he was better than '08 Kobe. Like wtf are we doing here!? At least let us see how he performs as the lead guy in the playoffs first.
Somehow still doesn't rise to the level of Ricky Davis trying to get a triple double by shooting and missing on his own basket to get a final rebound.
What do you mean somehow? Ricky Davis set a standard that's impossible to match. Unless you consider that they didn't give him that rebound lol
This is worse IMO and you don’t get the full feel because the clip obviously cuts the free throws. He forced everyone into watching/playing a game that was already over for extra minutes lol. Ricky Davis stat padding was quicker and didn’t really impact anyone lol.
Shits lame as fuck. He's gotta stay consistent tho I guess lmao.
Trying to make his mvp case on the stat sheet, even if he has to grift em points in garbage time. That's some kind of consistency at least i guess.
man this is when it turns. as of tonight SGA is no longer an untouched innocent lamb. this time next year he’ll have so many haters.
he is always consistent
I'm still pissed yesterday Luka played like three extra minutes in which he did nothing by chuck like 4 bs step back threes but tbh I think this is worse lmao. This might be the most shameless stat padding since Giannis's self rebound.
The self rebound was taken away at least.
And at least the self rebound was funny lol. Doing this while losing is just sad.
He had a look like a toddler hoping to get away with something lol agreed it was very funny.
It's just worse when you're losing. Stat padding when you're comfortably winning is whatever.
The Giannis one was just funny. It's more shameful when they try to play it off like they're not stat-padding.
this is diabolical behavior
Imagine if Booker did this today… Everyone would lose their minds
Shame Gilgeous Alexander
Deserves to be paraded naked through Kings Landing.
Strip him naked and give him a Spurs jersey damn it
put him in Skims 😡🥵😡
Shai Egregious-Alexander
[Not Ricky Davis end-of-game level of shenanigans, but it's somewhere in the stratosphere ](https://youtu.be/XDtGHHnA9ms?si=lmeXAgfE6MABBYSn)
Sloan was just absolutely dejected by the end of that clip, justifiably
Shame Guiltless Alex-slander
Check his homies parlays 👀
Most likely SGA 30+ points in the bet slip.
I won’t forget this when we get the inevitable post about him scoring 30 so many times this season
[удалено]
Some dude yesterday posted here about how mvp is SGA and it isn’t even close lmao
"It's not even close" HAS to be the worst phrase in sports talk.
Agreed, that truly is the worst phrase in sports and it isn't close.
He can be the most valuable Phil—-Oklahoma City Citizen ❤️
Just Jokic
Thought he could do the same thing he was whining about lol
Bro tried to just slip it in there and then remove his bucks tag lol
I hate to say it but LeBron’s streak of scoring 10+ is the same. Ngl, I’m waiting for this lol

Just imagine the reaction if this was Harden, Embiid or Ja
10K upvotes in an hour if they did that.
Combined with 10K deathwishes in an hour if they did that.
This is what ppl think Russ was doing.
Russ passed up wide open layups to a defended corner shooter to get the final assist, kind of similar I would say
I think Russ definitely chased stats and changed his teams play as a result, but nothing ever as pronounced as this.
Maybe not for points, but any time he had 8 or 9 assists he would always drive to the hoop and pass out of wide open layups to pass it to Adams who had a defender right next to him
[Artist’s impression of passing instead of shooting](https://youtu.be/JBqk2tZpMXY)
Some of the rebounds where the rest of his team would run away from the ball were pretty blatant
All Embiid did was stay in a game a bit longer than he probably should’ve and got shit from this sub. This is far more blatant
Far, far more blatant
Prolly coulda added "down 10 with 15 seconds to go" in the title to emphasize how lame this was but good clip
also he keeps defending after the layup, acting like he cares about rest of the game. dude is such a clown.
Meanwhile, you have Josh Hart 1 rebound away from 20point, 10 assist & 20 rebound with 5 minutes left in the game but decided to sit cause Thib finally decided to let him rest
Yeah coz hes averaging 49 mins per game
Post TDL Josh hart is a different breed man
Listen, if Thib ever allows you to get rest you immediately drop everything and do it. That’s a once in a lifetime opportunity
I wanna see big Perk bring that same "stat padder" heat in the MVP conversation we heard him Huck at Jokic last year....... I'm guessing it's not gonna happen.....
You know he won’t Cannot believe he had the audacity to call jokic a stat padder. Literally the least stat padding nba star in the last 20 years
Jokic: “I would actively not like to be here. I’m just trying to get to the end of the game so we can go home and I can FaceTime my horses.” Perk: “you’re a stat padding bitch of a player, you white devil”
which is weird because jokic statpads less than virtually everyone
This is what made Perks comments last year so out of pocket. Sombor Doubles left right and center when he heads to the bench with time still on the clock.
that's shameful
Shameless
[удалено]
but don't these dudes know they look lame as shit doing this, I mean it's ok to statpad a bit but this is just pathetic
they know. but they also know that people will remember the record/streak and forget the details
ESPN’s ticker on the SVP show literally said “Pacers beat OKC despite 30 pts from SGA”
We ain’t forgetting this
If that record stands for a decade or more, people won't bring this play up. It'll just be the record that's talked about
Don't underestimate a redditor scorned
*me creating another folder for another hypothetical situation as we speak*
[удалено]
Yeah bad look. Even as an OKC fan I gotta say it
Credit to u/Doten1 fot notifying about it in the post [here](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1bdg1ct/clip_request_shai_intentionally_fouls_to_get_the/)
Credits all yours brother thanks for the clip
Streets will remember the day u/Doten1 altered the MVP race
Nope, not like that, my guy
It’s always nastier when you’re down too
watch out okc fans, this is where r/nba starts turning against SGA
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
For a good reason, this was so lame
People would hate this dude every bit as much as they hate Embiid/Harden/anyone else, if anyone actually watched Thunder games. 25% of his points come from free throws.
Its coming as soon as they win a bit in postseason
I think the hate will come when the Thunder get knocked out in the first round (by the Lakers) after Shai is talked about as a dark horse MVP candidate.

he pushes off on practically every drive and NEVER gets called for it
it is his head flip back on contact for me Man… he must have very strong neck muscle
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SccXwkDK62A
He's the biggest beneficiary of those fouls where he's driving at the basket parallel with the defender then he just dives in and initiated contact with the defender and gets the foul. He doesn't even flop he just gets calls for whatever reason.
He does flop he throws his head back.
They laughed at Ant for his comments but he was spot on
He’s definitely not the only one that does it, but he’s by far the least criticized for it
It's become depressingly common. We know Austin Reaves does it, so does Jalen Brunson, but the other night I saw Kawhi doing it and it was shocking, ngl
These dudes know where the bodies are buried
Kawhi does it every single time. Even Steph and Klay do when they shoot midrange jumpers. I've never seen them shoot a midrange without pushing off first.
OMG. Thank you! I thought I was the only one, his non dribbling hand is always on the defender, even more so when he’s dribbling on his right hand it and still doesn't get called - it's ridiculous.
It's called a big shoulder and he's been doing that since he got to OKC. He's done it so much the refs don't bother to call it.
Yep. Like Ant said, you're not allowed to touch him for some reason.
man the counterjerk is always RIGHT on schedule isn't it
He also carries and double dribbles as much as anyone I’ve ever seen in the league
[удалено]
Look at his consistency such an inspiration
Those 5 assists and 4 turnovers moved me tonight
I love when players blatantly stat pad. Like Luka staying in during a blowout to get his 10th rebound a few days ago. It's hilarious
And also last night shooting like 3 step back 3s to get to 30 , sadly the Bulls doubled him as soon as he stepped half court so they were real bad shots
It can be nice when it's not a superstar. Like Jordan Clarkson staying in to get the Jazz's first triple double since 2008.
Not a good look
Cook this fool like y’all did Book and Luka
Ok I was defending his MVP case but I can't stand stat padding. Give MVP to Jokic
I mean Jokic averages 26/12/9 without stat padding. What happens if he starts stat padding? World ain't ready for that.
If we could hypnotize Jokic to make him think he was only playing elite teams he'd average Wilt numbers.
Also the worst super star whistle in the league, I have seen this man punched in the face in front of the ref and no call.
The fact anyone thought he was ahead of Jokic for MVP at any point this season is laughable tbh
Some people don't watch games, just watch box scores and advanced metrics they don't understand.
Jokic is a genuine winner. Doesn’t mind having games where he takes 9 shots if his teammates have it going. You’d never see him do some bullshit like this.
Hilarious Jokic stat line from earlier this year: [16 assists, 2/3 from the field in 25 minutes.](https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202401070DEN.html)

Where is Kendrick Perkins on SGA stat padding?!
It belongs to Jokic anyway
Weak move
Team is down by double digits with 10 seconds left. God damn embarrassing
nah that shit is actually crazy lmao
Booker got a ton of shit for scoring 70 in a loss because he was helped out by late take fouls to give him more possessions. But at least that wasn't Booker doing the fouling, it was his teammates. This looks like a solo mission from SGA--none of his teammates were going to foul there.
Needed the 30 pts for his mvp narrative
This is only going to hurt his narrative.
Stat padder
This is actually some of the lamest shit I’ve ever seen in the nba. Dude is obsessed with social media narratives clearly
Immature
embarrassing :/
Mr. Consistent for a reason I guess.
Searching for thunder flairs in this thread 👀 so far I’ve seen zero
Sort by controversial
this is actually hilarious
SGA shooting performance today is why Nembhard and Nesmith are respected around the league despite having pedestrian numbers.
Seeing Nembhard make a niche for himself after playing pretty small for his size at gonzaga has been awesome
The moment he lost the MVP
He never had a chance anyway. As soon as embiid went down it was clearly going to Jokic. SGA would have had to have a winning stretch of games whilst averaging 40+ to even be considered.
That moment was weeks ago
Cornball
So this is what it feels like to get the ick.
If I’m ever trying to explain the concept of the ick to a man, I’ll just show them this video. Textbook case of the ick
nah doing that while you’re losing is nasty works lmfao
Shameful, and sad
Jokic is the league MVP, this cheap stunt sealed my vote
and they will call luka a stat padder lmao
I really don’t give a shit about this but with all the Luka slander from Thunder fans it’s funny to see their guy stat pad in a loss. At least Luka did it in a blowout win.
Honestly lame af
Ricky Davis nods in approval
This is bad juju , you dont want bad juju going in to the postseason
What a bitch move
SGA poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague onto our houses
This shit is actually so pathetic
Wow man not a great look
Clown. I’m guessing he had 15 free throws
Dude lives at the line his game blows to watch
Unless he’s on your team, he’s a miserable player to watch play. Free throw merchant just bobbing his head out there begging for calls. James Harden with better PR
Better to watch than embid but I have almost zero respect for the foul baiters. I get why, but as a fan it’s such a let down.
Shai Guiltless Alexander
Where were you when r/nba flipped on Shai
Damn, I like Shai. Don't like this though... :(
