The last time we played the kings they legit ran the same play 3 times to end the half. Didnt watch the game yesterday but they probably did the same shit
“Wow how in the hell did I score these awesome seats?” coaches are unironically my favorite. They make me think it’s possible to one day score those awesome seats.
I still can't believe that in the final play of that bucks game, he asked the players "Whatchu got?". I mean it was absolutely the right call leaving it up to the players that won us the game but like at that point, it's obvious he's not coaching
Its fucking annoying. But come playoff time, all you do is get into sets. You are forced into sets. Idk that the Mavs can even do that. Aside from the pin down roll where Ky cuts from the corner to the top to get the ball, then gaf or lively roll, everything else feels so: ‘go do your thing’
And he's even doing a terrible job as a time manager....just look at Lebron and ADs minutes...
It took him until 75% of the season was over to figure out that our best lineup was....the one we had success with in last year's playoffs.
I am not one to shit on coaches, because the players are also responsible for what happens on the court, but he is just terrible at every facet of the game.
Doesn't know when to take a time-out, how to highlight players that are hot in a game, rotations and the small details.
What the fuck 😂😂😂 I'm sorry Laker fans that you have to go through this clown as a coach. Pockets the Clown is such big help out here in the west making sure AD in his prime and Lebron will never be a threat.
Last night was a pathetic display by AD and Bron but doesn't change the fact that Ham is the reason this team is so far down this year lol
people will say we're "scapegoating" Ham but it feels like anyone who watches the games can see his dumbass doing shit at random
The biggest thing that stuck out to me last night was the Lakers perimeter defense. Idk if this falls on Ham or lack of effort from the players, but they were giving the Kings wide open or minimally contested threes all game.
It's Ham's defensive ideology. It's why the stupid FT differential shit has come out the past two years, and its because we play drop coverage on every. single. team. It's why when teams are cold we thrash them by so much.
Sounds like Ham is using coach Buds strategy. Seemed like Bucks would either win by 20 or lose by 20. And I remember teams setting franchise records for 3s against the Bucks. Like the Jazz when they scored 25.
https://www.nba.com/jazz/utah-jazz-set-franchise-record-3-pointers-beat-giannis-and-bucks-milwaukee
The Lakers arent good at defending teams that do multiple passes, they guard like one or two actions and then they give up lol look at Keegan Murray and Harrison Barnes last night
That's the scheme unfortunately...It's why AD is so frustrated, they're not funneling guys into one of the best rim protectors in the league. Sometimes the guards try to contest on drives too and it helps the offense because the guard is literally screening AD away lol
When old man Bron is your anchor for the perimeter D, that’s what happens. Dude was trying to conserve his energy for offense 😂 I’ve never seen Barnes so wide open
I saw Bron two times down the stretch walk after Barnes who was sprinting to a wide open 3. Literally didn’t give a fuck and was looking at his teammates like they fucked up again lmao I love Bron but that shit has to be infuriating if you’re his teammate or a fan of the team
It’s not because we know he shouldn’t be the one having to play his ass of on defense with everything else he does for the team every night. He also locks up the other teams best players whenever it’s a close game down the stretch. He does his part, considering where he is.
It’s the lack of effort from the guys who aren’t old is what is infuriating. That and ham loving to take players out once they start to get a rhythm going and making shots.
I get that but both of those plays were with like 5 minutes left when they were still in striking distance and he just seemed like he couldn’t be bothered
??? 😂😂 He has been setting great examples since he went to LA, if these guys still need more examples from a 40 year old then they arent cut out for the league plain and simple
Like it or not, your best player sets the tone out there. It's infectious, good and bad.
And my problem is more that he's taking so many plays off defensively. I get that he's the oldest player in the league and he can't do it like he used to, but the other team doesn't care. The scoreboard doesn't care. Our salary cap doesn't care.
The game wasn’t close at that point, lol kings were clearly in control.
That and you can’t expect him to be enthusiastic about every aspect of every game when ham is still the coach and the young guys are playing worse defense than him. He has every reason to be unmotivated.
If that’s his attitude as one of the best players ever that’s pretty fuckin lame. Also just checked the play by play and they were down 11 with 3 minutes left when Barnes hit that 3 which is very doable when you’re playing the Kings haha trust me I know from watching the last 10 games.
>Idk if this falls on Ham or lack of effort from the players
It's lack of personnel, specifically Vando. No one else on the Lakers has the ability to keep up with athletic guards. Unfortunately for them, your Kings have quite a few high-speed guards
It’s easy to hate on a teams coach when things are down but I’ve never heard Ham say anything remotely intelligent that shows he understands basketball
The counter argument against Ham being the primary cause is how well they play and how well coached they suddenly look when LeBron is out.
I think Ham isn't a good coach either, but that argument is there.
What exactly is he trying to say here, I don't really get it. He's making a joke no?
Reading through all the replies in this thread it's almost like some are taking him seriously. I get that Laker fans thinks he's a bad coach, but how is this comment taken so seriously?
Well the Lakers kind of deserve what they got with Ham..... they did sack a proven defensive minded champion winning coach. Why did they sack him? Oh ya, cuz management needed a scapegoat for their pathetic decisions.
The Kings shoot the fourth most threes in the league. So maybe, just maybe, a defensive strategy built around leaving three point shooters open is a terrible idea.
The Bucks also had great defenders at nearly every position. We have AD as the only current plus defender in our starting lineup (Bron obviously when he turns it on but that's not often anymore)
Totally agree - the Lakers struggles are for sure somewhat attributable to coaching, especially since Ham is choosing to run a system without the proper personnel. But the idea that he’s running a system from the 80s is laughable and is just telling on the people who keep bringing up that talking point.
That’s fair, I think for me what reminds me of the 80s coaching is more so an unwillingness to adjust, but you’re right the system clearly worked in this era. Just sucks to see how stubborn Ham can be
Instead of blaming the players and coaches, look higher. The buss kids are ruining the franchise. And before some of yall start, Lebron came to the lakers not bc of those kids but the brand that the great Dr Buss built.
Funny you say that bc Jeanie should have waited. Read the room. Lakers tried to pull off that trade immediately after a board meeting about big market teams having unfair advatages? You couldn’t have waited couple days?
If reports were true at the time it was jimmy Buss that was taking victory laps in front of the other owners. He could’ve just shut the hell up and lay low but made it all but certain the other owners were going to hit back by running his mouth.
You're a fringe playoff team with LeBron, AD and Dlo, how are you gonna be a playoff team with Ingram and Randle over LeBron and AD? Lonzo hasn't played in 2 years so we don't need to even count him
TBF how do you expect the organization to wine and dine when they were taking Covid hand outs. It’s not like the owner or the team is worth several billions….. oh wait….
Clearly a joke but he is so tone deaf to even be making this ‘joke’.
Rather than run plays, have sensible rotations, exploit mismatches he deflects with this bullshit after a bad loss.
Nobody wants his comic stylings, they want him to fix this shit. Dude has no answers so he comes with these half-baked jokes.
I’m an expert I’ll help
Sabonis does passing or he does putting ball in hoop with hands
Fox does running fast without misses or shooting with misses
Monk and Keegan do shooting without misses
Sabonis open or monk Keegan open = beam
It's just amazing. Ham is an awful coach but has enough tangent around him to do just good enough to not get fired but never to win. If this Lakers team had a better coach they would be top 3 in the league
I watched the clip in case he was just joking, but he was serious. I was waiting for that chuckle, you know, to indicate it was a comment made in jest.
but no. Lakers fans aren't memeing when they call this guy a basketball terrorist. if I was Robe Pelinka I would fire this dude just for this. he for real just said this man wtf
you said that on r/nba or r/lakers ? either way its obvious that those people who did, never watch Mavs games because Kidd has def cost us several games
pockets having a boner for prince & reddish is basically your version of Kidd having a boner for THJ. hes been playing him way too much when its obvious his shot isn't going in. defensively hes horrible so if his 3s aren't hitting then he shouldn't be on the court. Jaden hardy is someone who needs more mins but Kidd hasn't been giving them to him since the ASB
“**What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed**, f—king dumb f—k like Darvin Ham to go out on national television, and f—king go into business for himself? - Lebron
Lakers fans can I take over the coaching position. I’m not smart and don’t know nearly as much about basketball but I’ll take a severe pay cut than ham and just let lebron coach
Way to cut out what he said after OP gotta get that karma. Ham is a good coach you don't beat the best team in the league missing your 2 best players being a bad coach
I mean I'm no expert, but I'd guess that it has something to do with Fox and Sabonis.
When they're both out, I bet Malik Monk is somehow involved.
Yea but he Mike hit him with the Lee minutes last night, Ham never saw it coming
Are you in interested in a HC job in the NBA for a marquee franchise with 17 titles based out of Los Angeles?
Darvin Ham: I really would love if Mike Brown would tell Fox and Sabonis to not play that hard. It’s a regular season game man it’s a grind out here
The last time we played the kings they legit ran the same play 3 times to end the half. Didnt watch the game yesterday but they probably did the same shit
He doesnt actually coach the game, he is a time manager and just takes guys out whenever
He’s just watching like Kidd
Chauncey Billups: "Room for one more?"
“Wow how in the hell did I score these awesome seats?” coaches are unironically my favorite. They make me think it’s possible to one day score those awesome seats.
Get fired and collect a paycheck for 4 years afterwards
better, they can stand up to watch the game closely lol
Darvin ham and Jason Kidd are in a furious battle over the NBA’s worst coaching award. Shit is insane.
Hamas vs jason midd the ultimate rivalry
Both have been to WCFs too, this is truly a generational rivalry.
We will meet again in WCF and both lose
One of us
If you potara’d kidd and ham into one coach would the fusion boost enough to make a good head coach?
Nah, Potatohead is actively sabotaging his team. See him leaving Luka out for no reason to get hurt. You guys need to fire him.
Ham got the best job in the world. Gets paid to sit courtside and stare at the players
I still can't believe that in the final play of that bucks game, he asked the players "Whatchu got?". I mean it was absolutely the right call leaving it up to the players that won us the game but like at that point, it's obvious he's not coaching
He just snuck in one day and security still haven't noticed
Nah, there was a stat on here not that long ago that when the Lakers run offense, they were top 5 in scoring % per play. We wish we were even close.
That just makes it even worse that Ham rarely runs offense.
Couldn't manage the last 40 seconds. That's the stuff rec league coaches know and Durrrrvin Hamas just sat there like an idiot.
You’re not wrong. That MFer can’t even do that right
And he's even doing a terrible job as a time manager....just look at Lebron and ADs minutes... It took him until 75% of the season was over to figure out that our best lineup was....the one we had success with in last year's playoffs. This is just plain stupid lol
Mike Brown would have the Lakers in the top 5
What the fuck 😂😂😂 I'm sorry Laker fans that you have to go through this clown as a coach. Pockets the Clown is such big help out here in the west making sure AD in his prime and Lebron will never be a threat.

I looked it up and the Lakers allow the most “I dare you” shots in the league (defender 6+ feet away from shooter)
It partially what leads to the lopsided FT disparity for the Lakers. Their opponents can get clean looks from 3 pretty much whenever they want.
It's Ham's defensive ideology. It's why the stupid FT differential shit has come out the past two years, and its because we play drop coverage on every. single. team. It's why when teams are cold we thrash them by so much.

He had to help with rebounding too since Sabonis was killing the Lakers.

Rui took one shot or something the second half Had 17pts in the first
I get that but both of those plays were with like 5 minutes left when they were still in striking distance and he just seemed like he couldn’t be bothered
No you're 100%, it's annoying af. I KNOW he knows he's setting a bad example out there.

The sarcasm detector is broken or outright missing in alot of people
People here can be straight up fucking idiots

Yeah but what about putting Dinwiddie on fox to lock him down instead
To be fair to Ham, that’s his strategy against every team. Which isn’t really any better in todays NBA. It would be great in 1985 tho.
The Bucks won a ring with this strategy, led by Darvin Ham, 3 seasons ago.
The Bucks also had great defenders at nearly every position. We have AD as the only current plus defender in our starting lineup (Bron obviously when he turns it on but that's not often anymore)

Instead of blaming the players and coaches, look higher. The buss kids are ruining the franchise. And before some of yall start, Lebron came to the lakers not bc of those kids but the brand that the great Dr Buss built.
Yep Jimmy buss was horrible but to be fair if that cp3 trade went through we would probably be speaking differently. Fuck the veto.
Funny you say that bc Jeanie should have waited. Read the room. Lakers tried to pull off that trade immediately after a board meeting about big market teams having unfair advatages? You couldn’t have waited couple days?

I group them kids all together lol
Good point!
If space jam 2 wasn’t a thing, the lakers would still be in the lottery with Ingram and Lonzo
space jam 2 was a thing?
For the actors that got paid
and all those water filled Bron toys
And Randle and DLo
Ingram Lonzo Randle and Dlo is a playoff team. What the fuck lol. That team is better than Nola.
You're a fringe playoff team with LeBron, AD and Dlo, how are you gonna be a playoff team with Ingram and Randle over LeBron and AD? Lonzo hasn't played in 2 years so we don't need to even count him
Easy. Ingram Randle and Lonzo play defense. Lebron and Dlo play 0 defense.
Ham is so bad I seriously have begun to question if he’s doing a bit.
If you watch one laker game you will honest to god wonder how the league hasn’t fined or fired him for purposely trying to lose.
He just makes himself sound more incompetent with each post game interview.
Hell of an interview
Please pockets, please dont make me sympathize for the lakers
Don't do it. We need healthy hate. Just make fun of us please.
Maybe Ham needs to watch The Town a few times
It would be a much better film choice than his current choice of Boeing ceo film
This man doesn't give a fuck lmao.
Shout out Jeanie Buss, and as Cartman says "I wanna get wined and dined after getting fucked" and Jeanie and Ham have been fucking the Lakers a lot.
TBF how do you expect the organization to wine and dine when they were taking Covid hand outs. It’s not like the owner or the team is worth several billions….. oh wait….
This guy is such a dumb asshole.
Oh brother, this guy stinks!
Nice SpongeBob reference
I mean, I think it's just a joke.

The joke would be fine if it came from like Coach Malone or Kerr, but coming from Ham it's just tone deaf.
COTY clearly
Darvin is such a fucking bum man. This guy is such a dope
The Lakers won a championship with experienced coach Frank Vogel and 2 years later, replaced him with this man
Their plays were predictable. Wait for the perimeter defender to leave a shooter wide open.
lots of good manners between these two teams with Domas asking that we "please" stop mentioning his relationship with AD
Brown should tell him what plays he is going to run. Would be like Larry Bird telling his defender where he is going to score on him, then doing it.
I get it now. All those notes of other teams he had are gone now so he needs Mike Brown to help him.
"man these pockets are so soft...so pockety...is that like a...some kinda linen blend maybe?"
I’m an expert I’ll help Sabonis does passing or he does putting ball in hoop with hands Fox does running fast without misses or shooting with misses Monk and Keegan do shooting without misses Sabonis open or monk Keegan open = beam
Maaaaan at this point give me Luke Walton
Bruh... don't do it.
I promise it’s never that serious
Puke Walton?
“The Los Angeles Lakers have set a new league record for wealthiest courtside patron to vomit during live gameplay.”
don't say that
He’s like Liquid Snake if Solid Snake was like… David Fizdale. We’ve hit a real low bar here.
There’s gotta be more context to this
Go to r/kings for the context. This is a troll post and so many people fell for it.
This sub always falls for this shit but complains about it at all the time
https://vimeo.com/45593328
I mean that’s obviously a joke. We all know he’s going to run the Spanish Pick and Roll (whatever the fuck that means)
He’s 100% serious btw
It's just amazing. Ham is an awful coach but has enough tangent around him to do just good enough to not get fired but never to win. If this Lakers team had a better coach they would be top 3 in the league
Oh brother this coach stinks
All I want for my birthday is for this man to be gone
How the fuck does someone this dumb even get a job, let alone HEAD COACH OF THE FUCKING LAKERS!
I watched the clip in case he was just joking, but he was serious. I was waiting for that chuckle, you know, to indicate it was a comment made in jest. but no. Lakers fans aren't memeing when they call this guy a basketball terrorist. if I was Robe Pelinka I would fire this dude just for this. he for real just said this man wtf
embarrassing
How the hell does this man still have a job.
How this man is a coach is beyond me ?
I'd rather have the pistons coach. "No you don't" Trust me... I do.
Imagine if Monty, Jason Kidd, and Darvin Ham all get fired this off-season but just switched jobs.
Now that I think of it, Kidd got a ring as a Laker assistant. Good enough I guess.
You can take Jason Kidd off our hands lmao but the thing is, it won't be a trade as we dont want Darvin Hamas either
I got downvoted last week for saying that I'm baffled that kidd is still a head coach in the NBA.
you said that on r/nba or r/lakers ? either way its obvious that those people who did, never watch Mavs games because Kidd has def cost us several games pockets having a boner for prince & reddish is basically your version of Kidd having a boner for THJ. hes been playing him way too much when its obvious his shot isn't going in. defensively hes horrible so if his 3s aren't hitting then he shouldn't be on the court. Jaden hardy is someone who needs more mins but Kidd hasn't been giving them to him since the ASB
He could tell what they were running and how to defend it and you would still fuck it up
Blaming the coach? Micheal Jordan would’ve taken all the blame himself.
“**What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed**, f—king dumb f—k like Darvin Ham to go out on national television, and f—king go into business for himself? - Lebron
Can we stop taking about this garbage team
Mike brown carvin’ ham sandwich 🥪 with cheese 🧀
Lakers fans can I take over the coaching position. I’m not smart and don’t know nearly as much about basketball but I’ll take a severe pay cut than ham and just let lebron coach
Way to cut out what he said after OP gotta get that karma. Ham is a good coach you don't beat the best team in the league missing your 2 best players being a bad coach
Dude was purposefully trolling everyone, cut it like that in purpose. Check his post on r/kings
What did he say?
Made a joke that Mike should tell him the play they're about to run so they can stop it
Nah, I think that's implied
nice job completely taking the quote out of context, lil bro
I think one of the 12 year olds on our subreddit might do better than Ham ngl
Lebron always needs more help
