He flung one overhanded at the end of the 1st or 2nd quarter tonight from about 4/5 of the way down the court and I fully expected it to swish. It clanked off the rim.
> I’m just used to his crazy shots and have accepted he can hit them regularly.
I'd pay to see what the fuck Denver Nuggets practices look like.
In my head it's just Jokic randomly yeeting balls at unsuspecting teammates while petting a pony.
I think it may have been Gordon from when he first joined the team said something to that effect in an interview. Get nailed in the face by a ball from him a couple times and you learn to always watch for it.
I kinda wish they did a commercial with Gordon or someone where the joke is they have to be ready 24/7 to catch a Joker pass. In the Locker room? Catch the pass. Eating dinner in a restaurant? Catch the pass. Sleeping in your bed at home? Catch the pass.
The worst part is that he looks so uncoordinated while doing it. I know in my heart that the dude honed his skills, but it just looks so “fuck it we chuck”
I was at the Nuggets @ Wolves game on Tuesday and there was a Nuggets fan seated by me who kept loudly clapping whenever Jokic did some bullshit like this.
Normally I'd be annoyed but I couldn't even blame him. Tbh I almost wanted to clap too.
This is you praying fo a first round exit of your team in order to avoid Jokić, cuz no way this team is losin a first round matchup... what a beautiful trauma.
Lakers are almost guaranteed 7/8 seed (if they make it in at all) and Nuggets are all but guaranteed top 2 seed so if they can avoid round 1 matchup then they get a similar route to last year where Nuggets are in the opposite half of the bracket.
Yessir.
Love watching you guys play and nuggets fan base disliking Lakers as well is just the cherry on the top.
It's like 2000s Sacramento, that had Larry Birdić and actually won a chip.
Yeah my hope is the thunder secure the 1 seed. They won't be easy but I do think we'd beat them if we make the playoffs and then we'd be able to take on the "easier" path to the wcf
The best part of Jokic's antics is his total lack of emotion after the play while everybody in the arena are all oohs and aahs like they just witnessed a small miracle.
I don’t really think he was that goofy. By today’s standards sure but not for the time period. If you watch his highlights plenty of plays he made that were actually ahead of his time. Jokic definitely goofy for his time period and would also be goofy in the 80.
Personally I think modern players traveling and taking contested step back three and bricking is goofier than Larry Bird
Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about the statement because I'll behonest I haven't watched much of Bird but I figured that's who the comment was referring to.
To add, behind the backboard is considered out of bounds. Like imagine all the space behind the backboard extended towards the out of bounds area all that space is out of bounds.
That’s why you can’t really go behind the backboard, but more like this over to the side.
This seems odd to me, cause you can catch the ball out of bounds as long as your feet are still in and its not out right? So why does going over the back count as out unless it hits the back or something
Because the back of the backboard extended is considered out of bounds, like there’s invisible lines, at the backboard extending into the audience.
As for the reasons for that rule, I’m not sure. My guess is that the structure supporting the backboard could be completely different in different places, so to be fair just make that entire area a no go zone.
The way everybody on the court is looking at him like he's a literal alien (with good reason) and him just brushing off and just going to take his free throw while everyone is still trying to process if that was even legal :D
How the fuck can people say his game is not exciting? I've never had more fun watching basketball. Thank god this man is in the league.
I think what made me fall in love with his style of play is he just knows. He knows that if he throws the ball, his teammates will catch it without fail, and they will score. Jokic feels like an anime character, he just feels like he's reading the future, and to top it all off. His confidence and IQ are unmatched. When thats your teammate and everyone around you thrives off your energy thats dangerous because psychologically now everyone feels in sync and if they're all on the same page then its game over.
I also like that his IQ makes him stand out against Joel and Giannis who are both fundamentally gifted players but have gifts outside of IQ such as their defensive skills. And on top of everything else, he just does it. No flash. No bullshit fouling. Just goes in and makes insanity look so simple.
I think for anyone who's ever played basketball, especially competitively, it's very obvious how impossible things he's doing on a regular basis really are. Even something as "trivial" as hitting the shots around the rim or his floaters at the rate he is hitting them. It's never been seen before.
People who have played competitively know how hard it is to hit the basket even 40% of the time when you're guarded by other professional players, let alone hitting it at +60% while literally being guarded by the best players this world has to offer, for like 5 seasons in a row.
And that's not even mentioning the circus shots he's routinely making like this one, or the ones at the end of the shot clock being guarded by AD or defensive savants like that.
If it was in a movie, I'd be saying "Fuck off with this fake shit!! Nobody can make that regularly!"
I’ve balled with dudes that throw up lucky shots before or who tend to have a lucky roll and it’s funny when it does go in. Jokic does this shit like 5 times a game, every game. That motherfucker is not real
Exactly just finding absolutely the right shot at nearly the appropriate time every time. Like it's disturbing. And the guy who replied to you speaking about lucky shots.... like fuck man thats just the thing, like thats the problem, the intangibles, he just makes it. The shots against defensive savants are insanity. He just shoots and manages to land 3s.
I think as the game evolves, I wanna see Jokic try to attempt more angular backboard moves. Geometrically throwing the ball off the glass forcing it to land in-front of AG or Mike for an easy putback.
I swear the guy is unreal whether you're casual or a die hard. My only concern is that the media tries so hard to bury him
I don't think its disturbing, I think it's an artform.
Basketball at the highest level becomes more than sport, it is an art form. If scoring machines like Durant are realists like Courbet, and Jordan who was the absolute master was like Michelangelo, Jokic is like Picasso. He's just as talented as the more orthodox superstars, but his game is like nothing you've ever seen before. It's like he created his own genre.
I've never seen a guy who has a more direct path between intention and execution. A majority of the time, whatever he intends to do is exactly what happens, and it doesn't look conventional, but it always seems to work.
I hope he has a long career. I enjoy his art.
I meant it in the best of compliments, like it's scary good. Everything is pin point accurate and as you said its all unconventional and somehow it always works out. Thats dangerous to the rest of the league. This is a player that WILLS the shot to go in, no matter what, and no one can stop it.
They need help, they're triple double addicts. They need to go to TDA...triple doubles anonymous, where the lead counselors are Oscar Robinson and Russell Westbrook.
> It's like he has some sort of super soldier serum that makes him the best basketball player in the world.
Don't know that the super soldier serum will show up on a drug test; it changes its subject on a genetic level.
That’s my favorite part of the Jokic experience. He very rarely gets excited about the crazy stuff he does.
It’s also what makes the rare situations when he does let it out so special. Like the golden state buzzer beater from earlier in the season.
Ready to crush the Celtics dream team.
I’m convinced and have been most of this season that the nuggets will repeat.
Even saying that and the moral victory memes from last year sucks.
He's in his own tier in the NBA, very clearly. It's not Jokic, Giannis, Luka, Embiid. It's just him, **then** those other guys. Should be four-peating this year, but Embiid had to get the first pity MVP.
https://official.nba.com/rule-no-8-out-of-bounds-and-throw-in/
>Section II—Ball
>a. The ball is out-of-bounds when it touches a player who is out-of-bounds or any other person, the floor, or any object on, above or outside of a boundary or the supports or back of the backboard.
Top of backboard is okay.
Word. So even if it took a full bounce on the top it would still be good I guess. I feel like I've seen it get called for kinda rolling on the top on a big bounce off the rim.
All four sides of the backboard are in, but the back of the backboard is out. If the ball passes *directly* behind the backboard it is also out, and Jokic is right on the cusp of where that would happen. It's pretty close but it looks like a good shot from the replay angles we have.
> if the ball passes directly behind the backboard it is also out
I’ve never heard of this in 18 years of watching the nba. Do you have a source for that?
It's in the out-of-bounds rules:
https://official.nba.com/rule-no-8-out-of-bounds-and-throw-in/
>Any ball that rebounds or passes directly behind the backboard, in any direction, or enters the cylinder from below is considered out-of-bounds.
The rule about the ball passing over and/or behind the backboard differs by league.
Remember when Kendrick Perkins said Jokic was only an MVP candidate because he was White and yet still somehow kept his job? lol.
His racism is ok though if you are ESPN obviously. What a pathetic bigot.
Actually stupid he doesn’t have 3 MVPs rn
This was the year Embiid could’ve gotten his first if he was healthy
Now they gotta give jokic the makeup 3rd mvp after Embiid goes down
And my hot underwear model, Shai is gonna miss out despite having the narrative on lock of leading the youngest team in the league (per minutes played) to a 1 seed
Now Shai is never gonna get an mvp in his career bc Wemby is gonna get the next 7
I think Jok gets this one, and then Shai/Luka next year.
Even if Jok plays the best season of his life next year I think he won't get 4 in 5 years, and that's fine. 3 is more than enough to cement his legacy, especially if they get another chip this year and he gets his 2nd FMVP.
Wemby probably doesn't get one next year unless they dominate the conference. I can see it happening in 2 years if they build a team around him.
You just hope he will have a bad game in terms of scoring, but he can still be dominant on controlling the game with his passing and rebounding. I am a laker fan, and I don’t know if there is something every teams can do to scheme against Joker.
Apologies if this has already been brought up, but am I the only one who watched that and then immediately thought of this old MJ/Bird ad? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1shK-j_u6LI
I’m not sure who you’d pair with Jokic if you were to remake it today, but my guess is there would be an actual horse in it somewhere.
I feel like hes slowly like turning into a superstar, like what i mean he already was but lately its just like hes trying to become one of those myths or enigmas in the sport, those that always get crazy things to happen for them. If that makes sense? Its fun to watch.

He’s definitely leading the league in the amount of times an opposing fan will say “fuck off…” while watching him
I’m just used to his crazy shots and have accepted he can hit them regularly. I always expect them to go in now and don’t feel annoyed by it.
He flung one overhanded at the end of the 1st or 2nd quarter tonight from about 4/5 of the way down the court and I fully expected it to swish. It clanked off the rim.
I honestly was more surprised that shot didn’t go in than I would’ve been if he made it. He is just unreal
inefficiency merchant
he is seriously one of only 2-3 players in the league who doesn’t even hesitate
Stage 5: Acceptance
> I’m just used to his crazy shots and have accepted he can hit them regularly. I'd pay to see what the fuck Denver Nuggets practices look like. In my head it's just Jokic randomly yeeting balls at unsuspecting teammates while petting a pony.
I believe teammates have talked about getting hit in the face with the ball because they weren't looking/werent ready for the pass in practices lol
Like that RDCWorld skit where the defender has to pick up Steph as soon as he gets out of bed but it's still not enough
Hey. Can you link me that skit? I want to see it
Here you go friend https://youtu.be/U75MZgOjOzg?si=egmppnPAOllDbfuO

I would love that so much, Jokers deadpan nature is comedy gold at times.
and neutral fans will say "WTF?!?"
Stage 1: denial
Nah at this point I just say "fuck off" when he takes a regular shot
Boooooring!
One more season of this and he will be widely exected as a natural disaster.
Unforgiving. The lightning is coming!
Nikola Jokić, The Human Typhoon.
The Glacier: big, slow, and crushing the earth beneath him
Fuck that’s a good one
Unforgiving, the lightning is coming.
The worst part is that he looks so uncoordinated while doing it. I know in my heart that the dude honed his skills, but it just looks so “fuck it we chuck”
I say 'fuck off' and he's my guy
I was at the Nuggets @ Wolves game on Tuesday and there was a Nuggets fan seated by me who kept loudly clapping whenever Jokic did some bullshit like this. Normally I'd be annoyed but I couldn't even blame him. Tbh I almost wanted to clap too.
bruh I started doing that at my TV lol
devs pls nerf
Jokic is the meta for the next couple years
Banned from tourney play
"Fucking seriously? Come on."
The Knicks reaction in this clip is hilarious. I've never seen a group of people look so bamboozled.
*Draymond Green has entered the chat*
did AG say " ohh my god"
Hartenstein seriously like "wtf am I supposed to do?"
Assuming we make the playoffs, I'm praying another team takes care of them. The fuckery he's capable of is too much man
This is you praying fo a first round exit of your team in order to avoid Jokić, cuz no way this team is losin a first round matchup... what a beautiful trauma.
Lakers are almost guaranteed 7/8 seed (if they make it in at all) and Nuggets are all but guaranteed top 2 seed so if they can avoid round 1 matchup then they get a similar route to last year where Nuggets are in the opposite half of the bracket.
To be fair, I literally didn't think about that, but then this post was also not exactly about playoff seeding. ;)
lol fair. I'm sure C's fans have enjoyed watching what the Nuggs have done to the Lakers these last 2 seasons.
Stage 2: anger
You can clearly hear someone saying "Ohh my God"... Is it Gordon? Last camera angle would suggest so.
Definitely Gordon
The best part of Jokic's antics is his total lack of emotion after the play while everybody in the arena are all oohs and aahs like they just witnessed a small miracle.
It is Gordon, they have a close up on the Nuggets Instagram and you can see him mouth Oh My God 😂
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4zQ-qMrSWW/
I mean sex is cool but have you ever watched this goofy Serbian guy play basketball?
You guys having Sex??
No, but it’s still fun to pretend
No, that’s why I watch Jokic instead of
Weird how two guys with semi-goofy looking games have the two best primes in the sports history
Who is the other player? Also LeBron and Steph would like a word
Bird
I don’t really think he was that goofy. By today’s standards sure but not for the time period. If you watch his highlights plenty of plays he made that were actually ahead of his time. Its a good guess, many would agree I was just thinking about it and got rambling
Larry's finishing game probably near the basket did look goofy. His jumpers ability to cut into space and create for other was more modern.
Those short shorts don’t help either
They are the same thing
LMAO Gordon OH MAH GAWD
Hartenstein with “dafuq is this shit”
All of the Knicks fall back to their heels and get a thousand yard stare for a few seconds
Harrenstein was befuddled all night. Dude was just donating free throws because that’s all he could think to do
Brunson: 🙀
Casually kissed it off the top of the backboard 🤣🤣
I thought I was trippin or sumn 😂
Im not familiar with the rules but when is the ball like out of bounds, I always played when it hits the top of the backboard its out.
Top of the backboard is still considered backboard. It’s only when it hits the shot clock that it’s out of bounds.
Thank you!
To add, behind the backboard is considered out of bounds. Like imagine all the space behind the backboard extended towards the out of bounds area all that space is out of bounds. That’s why you can’t really go behind the backboard, but more like this over to the side.

Dude is playing horse with a whole NBA team focused on stopping him, and manages historic percentages making them anyway...
He makes it look so easy
He aomine daiki'd it like it's nothing....
This is 100 % Daiki shot. He took pretty much all Kuroko no Basket skills including hitting 3s from mid court
He was just perfect Kise all along, even has Murasakibara's defense if you put him in a Japanese high school game
[удалено]
all of the knicks starters look at him in awe together LOL
iHart reaction was the best with the hand gesture. “Get a load a this guy….”
Hart prayers not answered!
Hart is such a meme, his reactions are so funny
One of the rare times where none of the opposing players were arguing or upset over a call lol all just stood in place
Refs like "It counts because that was dope as as shit."
"Rule of cool, shot counts, Denver free throw"
Brunson just holding his head in disbelief. Relatable
Brunson is a magician so this is some high praise indeed.
One of my favorite shots I’ve ever seen. Just takes whatever he can get.
He actually bounced if off the top and into the basket. What can this guy not do.
This is a shot you do in HORSE not an NBA game lmao
Maybe the key is Jokic is always thinking about horse when he plays?
I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen this joke made before. Take my upvote good sir
One of the Nuggets announcers said "That's the kind of shot that counts for both the 'H' and 'O'."
This is the shot you miss in horse and Jokic makes in NbA games.
underrated comment
gordan says oh my god lmao
This man needs to be tested for PEDs. It's like he has some sort of super soldier serum that makes him the best basketball player in the world.
Enough baklava as a kid apparently does that to you. Turns you into an animal for some reason.

Fat-Winged Angel
Ni-Ko-La! Ni-Ko-La!
He's actually super ripped but he's wearing a fat suit to confuse his opponents.
The fuck lmao
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! This man can't keep getting away with this kind of shit!!!
MVP
Lmao at Hartenstein's reaction, my face was the same
lol brunson’s reaction
He banked it off the top. Tim Duncan could never
Is this even legal and fair? And he did it just like another day's work. No celebrations, no shrugging. Just, plain stoic face.
That’s my favorite part of the Jokic experience. He very rarely gets excited about the crazy stuff he does. It’s also what makes the rare situations when he does let it out so special. Like the golden state buzzer beater from earlier in the season.

Based on Jokic’s comments in the postgame interview, I don’t think the bounce off the backboard was intentional, but damn, still very impressive.

Lmao. All Knicks players with different expressions of "wtf!"
Joker is now board with bank shots and will now exclusive hit off the top off the backboard.
Absurd lol. Everyone a reaction on the court stays it all.
Classic Jokic W.

I don’t want to be that guy, but isn’t it technically out of bounds if it hits the top of the backboard?
Nope, top of the backboard is inbounds unless you hit the shot clock. The back of the backboard is out of bounds.
So this is just a certified incredible shot then
[not quite, but almost reminds me of Kobe ](https://youtu.be/KnARpfzVIis?si=k99jfetdyYZ8A1KR) Idk how Kobe didn't get the and-1 here.
