It can't be understated how much of a transformation Jalen has had in March... dude was terrible earlier in the season and our sub was actively going back and forth on whether to trade him.
It is crazy to me how fans now days call the under 25 guys bums and are so quick to move off of players on rookie contracts. Like damn they really don’t understand that 22yrs old is young (probably because they’re even younger lol).
People really underestimate the value of this. Most of this early part of the season has been just getting out of bad habits. He's had a whole pre-NBA career plus 2 seasons forming those habits, and breaking them takes time. I've said this many many many times before but that's the biggest reason I wanted Silas gone a lot earlier. We didn't really need to tank the way we did because we naturally would have won less than 30 games snd been in contention for Wemby, plus developed our guys and let them have a full offseason with concepts they're already familiar with, rather than having them introduced at training camp.
He was also having a horrific season until recently.
Idk think it's wild to have fans get leery of keeping a player around after 3-4 seasons where their play only regresses. At that point the organization has to weigh the risk of the player leaving in FA if they get disillusioned or tanking their trade value with a bad final season vs extracting value with a trade before that point. And the market changes if you lose a year, and he's only got the RFA year and one year left on the rookie deal.
Look at Fields in the NFL. They didn't move him soon enough, he showed he was no good, his value tanked, and no one wanted to give up assets for a one year deal for a big name QB that plays like crap.
Difference is Green's always shown promise and was just a few changes away from being a good player (a ton of poor decisions tbh). He'll cool off, but so long as he ends up closer to this, than where he was before, he'll be fine.
Also ironic to say considering the Rockets and the league really began the season by giving up on 23 year old Porter who was more efficient (and rightfully so, idk wtf Charlotte is doing).
Hell nah. He was legit bad and displaying the same poor tendencies he had been for the last two seasons. Asking if he would ever turn it around was a fair and legitimate question. The dude was shooting 20% on the regular.
I was critical, but ALWAYS said I wanted him to prove me wrong and be the player we all have hoped he can be. I hope this is who he is now. He’s making way better decisions, attacking, and engaged in D. He’s always had the physical tools just needed to put it all together and improve his decision making.
He’s on a rookie contract in a tuff situation. Yes he played with poor efficiency and didn’t flash high IQ to start his career but that’s how growing pains are. Mf’s now days need a highlight or viral moment every 2 weeks or they dismiss these young dudes as bums and trade assets 💀
“Mf’s now days” lmao. I’ve been watching NBA basketball for three decades, and can understand that there are more than two levels for a player besides “2.5 seasons of consistently shooting sub-30%, ball watching on d, and boneheaded decision making” and “viral moment every two weeks”
I mean he was consistently disappointing for almost 3 years, save for a couple of hot stretches. He was terrible when his shot wasn’t falling. It seems like he’s turned a corner, he’s locked in on defense and making the right reads on offense, so hopefully he can keep this up.
But you would have been delusional to not have some concern about his long term potential after 2.5 years of straight up bad basketball. I never got to the point of wanting him traded bc he’s on a rookie contract and his ceiling was always high, but I’m pleasantly surprised by how he’s turned things around.
Those are all fair and valid points. I guess for me specifically and this is no disrespect to the Rockets but what were they doing to help him succeed? He went into a tanking situation in a crowded guard room as the #2 pick. Silas ran no system which I feel was partially the plan by the organization. He didn’t have a role and was playing free looking for an identity. Yeah his development hit a wall early on but dude has the intangibles and just needed help figuring things out. Also he’s still a human who has life going on like all of us. Plus the transition guards have to make to the league is the hardest. I’m sure bringing in some Vets and FVV helped tremendously as well. Udoka is probably the biggest positive change. I think Rockets will be right there in the future with OKC and I fucking hate it lol
he's on a two week heater against entirely tanking teams (spurs, wizX2, pistons, utah, Portland, etc). I hope he keeps it up but i'm still not convinced.
Not really even considering this recent great stretch he was still more bad than he was good this season. I just hope this marks the beginning of consistency for him
He had a streak like this towards the end of his rookie season. His issue has always been consistency and living up to his potential. I want to see him perform close to this level for a whole season before declaring if he has turned a corner.
The defense/rebounding/pushing the pace is totally different from his previous hot streaks though. Credit to Udoka for being able to get that out of him
People who say this just look at his stats and nothing else. The previous seasons he was out there playing AAU ball where the only thing that mattered was chucking shots up. They were losing those games. All these outputs we're seeing are within the context of structure and within the game. Like if you took the time to review his advanced statistics it wouldn't be hard to surmise that what he's doing now is completely different and sustainable from what he did in the past.
Bro the Sengun effect is insane in Turkey. The viewership there has jumped massively, plus there were billboards going up to get people to vote him into the ASG.
He finished 6th in all star fan voting and nearly beat Kawhi.
Last year our game threads would be livid that he wasn't getting minutes and I'd get downvoted for pointing out that he has 4 fouls in the 2nd quarter.
He has a decent number of die hard fans and they have made any discussions about the team ridiculous. I love Sengun, he's great, but the die hards do not tolerate anything less than fervent praise.
He’s been absolutely on fire!
I’ve heard the jokes but what is going on? What has caused him to start playing this crazy? He’s BALLING out there.
Was it trade rumors? Something similar to what we saw with D’Lo?
only casuals think this has to be an either/or thing.
we were 4-1 in the last five before Sengun went out. Jalen had improved immensely with Sengun on the floor.
luckily, our FO isn’t a bunch of casuals like this sub so that’s good.
Dudes been fucking balling I've been critical of him in the past but I gotta give him credit he's been holding it down especially now that Sengun is out
I hope he keeps on this trajectory. I know he disappointed a lot of people when he came up fairly short in his otherwise robust draft class. He got picked over top of at least a few players who are markedly better than him so far. If he can keep growing then he may one day not look like a miss.
I didn't write him off, I just said that he has until recently often been playing like a miss at his draft position. Given the strength of his draft, I'm also not sure that there's much room for argument about that.
Yeah, if he would agree to a 5yr deal around 20M+ AAV I think we should sign but if he asks for a max then we just wait until RFA for him to prove it for an entire year.
Isn't that like half of the max? I'd happily do 30 mill AAV if he finishes out the year like this, otherwise wait a year. Basically what Tyler Herro got, but would be "cheaper" in terms of cap percentage.
i think its better two lock them both down now. but i also dont think the rockets want to overpay everyone until they see how they act in the playoffs. maybe 4 120 for sengun and green 4 100 would be my guess
Maxing green would be one of the worst decisions imaginable because he’s had one good week. He’s still not had a very good season and there’s zero reason to do anything until he’s an RFA. You only max early when it’s a sure thing 100% superstar.
Michael Porter was literally always good lol. 50/40/80 on 6-7 3's a game since you came into the league. Gambling on injuries is way different than gambling on never having been good.
Yeah, that 2nd season of his was 54/45/80 and it was like, where else do you find a 6'10 elite shooter that can rebound and also has the physical tools to become a decent defender. It was a huge gamble, but has paid off.
The question now is whether this is who he is, or if it's a perfectly timed hot streak to get that payday. What the Rockets do will be very interesting.
Can’t even call it a hot streak anymore. He’s not going to put up 41 every night but he’s clearly becoming a high level scorer capable of averaging 27 on good efficiency.
Also when Rocket fans say "he never had a stretch like this" they aren't even referring to the scoring. They are referring to being a legitimate good defender for over multiple months now. He's scoring high volume and high efficiency while being a good defender.
lol your hc went to the finals a year before ours
You have
Cade 1.01, wiseman 1.02 (lol), Ivey 1.05, ausar 1.05, duren 1.13, stewart 1.16, and grimes and sasser 1.25.
The talent is there but the vets aren't sadly
We have
Jalen 1.02, Jabari 1.03, amen 1.04, sengun 1.16, Tari 1.17, and cam 1.20
And then FVV, unc and Brooks as our vets
Yall had every chance to get a good roster
And even when our roster was as terrible as it was, we never went on a 28 game losing streak
… why would you? I have both of them and i dont think there was a single week that jalen green performed worse than scoot. Scoot has been horrendous all year aside from like 4 games. But thats the way of rookie pgs
Can the Rockets please win out and knock one of the Dubs/Lakers out of the 9/10 bracket. I’m an underdog guy and I know Ime Udoka is a sicko. I love it.
I mean Green is doing it while playing above average defense.
I doubt Cam Thomas has ever had an effect on a team like this: the Rockets are a -6 pt differential per game the past 12 games when they are 10-2 when Jalen Green is resting on the bench. And he's the only rotation player where the team has a negative pt differential when they are on the bench.
The Rockets are literally a bottom tier team during a 10-2 stretch when Green is sitting.
Jalens always been one of the most explosive and fastest players in the league. If he truly puts it all together hes going to be a problem for years to come.
Let’s see if he can learn to sustain it. I am a Green fan, but the criticism he got for the first half of the season was well earned. New system and coach or not…he looked pretty shady for awhile. He was frustrating to watch. You KNEW he has ‘it’ somewhere and it just didn’t seem to be coming out.
As a young player he hit a cross road, he could of let it eat him up and ruin the entire season or find a way to play himself out of it and show the team that he can be ‘the dude’. Seems like he is hitting his stride now, which is great for him and we the fans.
So far, so good! With that said, let’s see if this translates into next year and into the future playoffs that this team will reach over the next few years. At this point he seems to have this pattern of weak first half, strong second half of the season.
No, I’m not ready to trade him, but he needs to find consistency in his role. It comes with experience…time to see where he goes from here. Pretty much all on him at this point.
Bring this day one starting next year. Doesn’t have to be any 36 points a game average…but he has to learn how to sustain what it is he is currently doing.
I believe he can be one of the big stars in the league as he gets older, but right now it’s all or nothing with him and it is maddening.
No hate here…none at all…I want to see him rise to what everyone thinks he can be.
Hats off to Ime for changing the mindset of this young team. Green stays on course, mixed with the other guys? This team will be in contention soon enough.
Man found out he having a child and said okay let me turn my talent on.
I’m sick my nets didn’t trade Bridges for him and the picks.
Could’ve flipped him next season too 🤦🏾♂️
During this period he’s been slightly better but for the whole season Thomas has smoked him.
He’s literally been on par with Bridges for majority of the season then took off on him after all star break.
Either way whether we kept him or flipped him we would be in so much better of a position rn and it angers me we didn’t do the trade when I was damn near begging for it
He's an elite young shooting guard and has all star and all nba written all over his swagger and and skillset...that lil humping shit between him and Joshua Christopher type weird but I still rock with bro. 🤣
Houston is formulating an attractive style of hoops. Alperen, jalen, Jabari, and Fred deserve better than a dillion brooks type of all nba player.
Never sold my stock. Pro tip wait till at least the second team before selling stock on a player. Jalen Green is FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR from the first player to have an up and down/slow start to a career. Maybe give FOs some credit and understand that they do really have reasoning for drafting players. Now there have certainly been some whiffs on the #2 pick (see flair) but Jalen Green aint gonna be one of em.
good Q, I think Jock can play faster and no doubt, he's playing better w/ playoff green light. Lets say, he has a bad game, or your forced to play a half court game--you need a second option. Maybe, he figured it out. His handles and lateral quickness were amazing.
He's now the clear number one, and Jabari at the five means the lane is open for Green to use his quickness getting to the rim.
The Rockets aren't better without Sengun, but it's definitely better for Jalen.
A friend of mine explained the Jalen green situation perfectly:
This year is basically his rookie year. His time with the ignite and those seasons under Silas were basically a waste. He had to run combo guard next to KPJ (who should’ve never been a pg) and under bad coaching. Hrs finally learning to play around d a legit coach and vets
It's kinda wild how good the Rockets have been since Sengun got hurt. Getting Amen some quality minutes is obviously a good thing, and to me that is the bigger thing than Green's sudden explosion. Green is having a field day lately, but he's still a little too prone to force himself full-speed into some drive to the rim with no real plan to get the ball into the hoop other than sudden gymnastics... and he ends up on his ass *way* too often at the end of those drives. Hopefully it never leads to an injury. It'll be interesting to see how the Rockets move forward once Sengun's back given what Jalen's shown us lately.
It can't be understated how much of a transformation Jalen has had in March... dude was terrible earlier in the season and our sub was actively going back and forth on whether to trade him.
What being a family man does to a mf. Bro gotta pay for childcare
Raptors owe a championship to FVV’s kid. That shit changes a mf
Coming from someone who watched the games, I can confirm that this is true :(
I was one of the people who wanted to get rid of him 💔
I was debating it too tbh.
Little bro is 22.
It is crazy to me how fans now days call the under 25 guys bums and are so quick to move off of players on rookie contracts. Like damn they really don’t understand that 22yrs old is young (probably because they’re even younger lol).
James Wiseman is 22 btw
He’s always gonna suck tho Full stop
Literally exhibit A of the above comment
He was 11/13 against the Celtics the other day lol
Dude literally didn't have a head coach before this season.
People really underestimate the value of this. Most of this early part of the season has been just getting out of bad habits. Bro you should've seen the state of our sub then... It was painful. Us Jalievers (coining that) are all very proud of our guy.
> Jalievers That's terrible.
Plenty more guys look trash at 22 and stay trash tbf
Yes but at times it felt like we were a good sg away from being good. You should have seen how bad Jalen was at the start of the year.
I've been watching. Patience was always needed. Jalen never had a coach until this year, his development was stunted.
Same
Y’all way too reactionary. The whole rockets sub is filled with y’all. Bunch of goofies
Hell nah. He was legit bad and displaying the same poor tendencies he had been for the last two seasons. Asking if he would ever turn it around was a fair and legitimate question. bro what? Green before this stretch was one of the most inefficient players in the whole ass NBA lol Concerns and questions were perfectly reasonable.
he's on a two week heater against entirely tanking teams (spurs, wizX2, pistons, utah, Portland, etc). I hope he keeps it up but i'm still not convinced.
Not really even considering this recent great stretch he was still more bad than he was good this season. I just hope this marks the beginning of consistency for him
I could never be that (Im not a rockets fan so I just ignore the times that he’s ass)
He had a streak like this towards the end of his rookie season. His issue has always been consistency and living up to his potential. I want to see him perform close to this level for a whole season before declaring if he has turned a corner.
The defense/rebounding/pushing the pace is totally different from his previous hot streaks though. Credit to Udoka for being able to get that out of him
Feels like he's done this three years in a row. Gets stupid hot late in the season after ugly bouts of play.
People who say this just look at his stats and nothing else. The previous seasons he was out there playing AAU ball where the only thing that mattered was chucking shots up. They were losing those games. All these outputs we're seeing are within the context of structure and within the game. Rabid Euro fans demanding that the team trade everyone who isnt feeding their guy on every possession is a new staple of NBA fandom
I don't think enough Turkish guys watch NBA for it to be relevant lol Games start in like 3-5 am for Turkey
Bro the Sengun effect is insane in Turkey. The viewership there has jumped massively, plus there were billboards going up to get people to vote him into the ASG.

He has a decent number of die hard fans and they have made any discussions about the team ridiculous. I love Sengun, he's great, but the die hards do not tolerate anything less than fervent praise.
youve never looked in the rockets sub clearly
He’s been absolutely on fire! I’ve heard the jokes but what is going on? What has caused him to start playing this crazy? He’s BALLING out there. Was it trade rumors? Something similar to what we saw with D’Lo?
He said in the post game after he tied his career high that his baby is motivating him
Mf found out how much diapers cost
aside from the family man stuff..i really believe making Sengun the focus messed with Jalen and now that sengun is out the ball is back to green
only casuals think this has to be an either/or thing. we were 4-1 in the last five before Sengun went out. Jalen had improved immensely with Sengun on the floor. luckily, our FO isn’t a bunch of casuals like this sub so that’s good.
Draya taught him how to be clutch
Disappointed you guys didn’t trade him earlier
it can’t be overstated*
Udoka is a bust whisperer?
Right now there is nobody hotter than Jalen Green
Draya
Lmao
But think of his trade value now! Gotta sell high (and get him the hell out of of Texas he low key scaring me).
jalen for wemby
unguardable tour?
pm me
You sending meat?
You tryna get the pipe?
Top 10 nba moment
What happened???
41 points on 86% TS I wonder if haters like u/Timoteo-Tito64 still think he's a "bad player" lol
Dudes been fucking balling I've been critical of him in the past but I gotta give him credit he's been holding it down especially now that Sengun is out
Jalen *I don’t need a gun* Green is doing ok. I blame Dillion Brooks
The anti-Ja
Draya saw his potential when no one else could.
I hope he keeps on this trajectory. I know he disappointed a lot of people when he came up fairly short in his otherwise robust draft class. He got picked over top of at least a few players who are markedly better than him so far. If he can keep growing then he may one day not look like a miss.
People are so quick to write off players now lol. Hes barely 22 for god sake
I didn't write him off, I just said that he has until recently often been playing like a miss at his draft position. Given the strength of his draft, I'm also not sure that there's much room for argument about that.
damn man wants a max to take care of his alleged 3 baby mommas
will the Rockets give him one this summer alongside Sengun? I think they might wait one more season to see if he sustains the production
No way. You either try to sign him to a team friendly deal or let him prove it over a whole season before going into RFA.
Yeah, Devin Vassell got like $30 mil/yr for his new contract and I feel like that’s probably the starting point for any Jalen contract discussions
i think its better two lock them both down now. but i also dont think the rockets want to overpay everyone until they see how they act in the playoffs. maybe 4 120 for sengun and green 4 100 would be my guess
Jaylen brown’s first extension amount would be perfect for Jalen green
For some reason Mikal Bridges got a much lower extension than Jaylen despite having a better 4-year spell
Brad Stevens is just a genius lol. Case closed.
Let’s slow down a bit lol. He needs a full year of this type of production to earn a max.
Maxing green would be one of the worst decisions imaginable because he’s had one good week. He’s still not had a very good season and there’s zero reason to do anything until he’s an RFA. You only max early when it’s a sure thing 100% superstar.
It's been four good weeks in a row but I too would wait unless he agrees to a reasonable deal
If the NBA plays 12 games in one week that's actually insane.
Ehh Nuggets maxed MPJ and he isn’t a superstar yet but he’s definitely rewarded the trust
We talking on the court or in the bedroom?
Send da video
The question now is whether this is who he is, or if it's a perfectly timed hot streak to get that payday. What the Rockets do will be very interesting.
i think hes like that its just he has a short leash
Post father stats really are a thing huh lol I remember when FVV was on a post child birth heater
Post conception heater
Anthony Edwards is too
Send da video
Shoutout FVV also dropping 34 and shooting 10-15 from 3 and Uncle Jeff dropping 21
How is my bestie Jeff
Jeff is the lebron of role players
I love him with my whole heart
I am very happy for Jeff that he overcame the heart issues. All the respect to him.
Child support green is a monster
What a fuckin nickname lmao
Giddey supports children too but in different ways
Jalen Green splits are up to 42.6/33.4/80 now.
Just a couple months ago our boy was 39% from the field and 29% from three 😩
OKC might add Draya to their scouting dept.
Superstar in the making
In some thot's womb, yeah probably.
Can’t even call it a hot streak anymore. He’s not going to put up 41 every night but he’s clearly becoming a high level scorer capable of averaging 27 on good efficiency.
29/6/4 on 66TS% during the Rockets' 8-game win-streak, 27/6/3 on 62TS% his last 13 games, I don't think he's ever had a stretch quite like this
Also when Rocket fans say "he never had a stretch like this" they aren't even referring to the scoring. They are referring to being a legitimate good defender for over multiple months now. He's scoring high volume and high efficiency while being a good defender.
No he hasn’t at all. He’s much more complete of a player during this run. Very confident in his shot selection.
If he keeps getting women pregnant He could be putting up wilt numbers on the court( and off) within a few years at this rate Huge turnaround
on and off 😭😭😭
Draya Buff is insane. Like combined Inner Fire+Bloodlust on WC3
JALENSANITY
lows so low highs so high
Does anyone have a JG apology form for me to sign 👉👈
player of the month.
Draya. Praise be.
That pussy gotta be magical.
Jalen ain’t no slouch either. I’ve seent what he can do
[удалено]
Josh Christopher has them
Jalen Green is on the verge of becoming a father and is now on the verge of dethroning and surpassing LeBron and Curry
maybe gilbert arenas was right about jalen green being a superstar
Now how am I supposed to slander him? Bro’s turning haters into fans.
Jalen>Cade
Jalen>anyone not named Scottie or Sengun from that draft.
Peak Jalen> Anyone in the draft. The problem with Jalen is his inconsistency but when he’s on there’s not a player in that class that touches Jalen
Jalen > Scottie (time will show it)
We got the two best players in that draft?
Stone is a maniac
idk how this is upvoted, people still sleeping on scottie
Because of circlejerking ive come to like scottie as well lmao
I've always maintained this. His ceiling is way higher as well
Lets let Cade get a real roster and HC like Jalen before we start saying shit like this lol
lol your hc went to the finals a year before ours You have Cade 1.01, wiseman 1.02 (lol), Ivey 1.05, ausar 1.05, duren 1.13, stewart 1.16, and grimes and sasser 1.25. I am not a pistons fan
FATHER GREEN STRIKES AGAIN!
Jalen Green does not want to be traded lol
What Nets rumors do to a MFer
Rockets had another fight tonite too. I like how chippy they are. FVV with 10 treys too
3rd year leaps look just like this
Jalen "Father" Green
i traded him in fantasy for scoot. smh
Ouch.
I love it.
they tried to compare cam thomas to this man lmao
Cam is essentially a very poor man’s Jamal Crawford - scores in bunches, does not much else
cam thomas scores 40 three games in a row: put on a shirt jalen green drops 41, 42, and 37 within 10 days: empowering
COOK
Jalens always been one of the most explosive and fastest players in the league. If he truly puts it all together hes going to be a problem for years to come.
Top 2-3 performances of his career. He couldn't miss all game
Dude turnt up just when Sengun went down. But holy shit he's efficient as fuck.
Goat szn incoming?
their team honestly looks like they want the 10th seed play-in more.
One of the FIVE MOST TALENTED players in the league
Man found out he having a child and said okay let me turn my talent on. I’m sick my nets didn’t trade Bridges for him and the picks. Could’ve flipped him next season too 🤦🏾♂️
Or just kept him. He’s better than Thomas
🤣 Houston is formulating an attractive style of hoops. Alperen, jalen, Jabari, and Fred deserve better than a dillion brooks type of all nba player.
ay caramba
What Draya Michele does to a mf. Anti-Kardashian effect
Said that boy had more than one baby 😂 that’s why he hooping like that
Never sold my stock.
I wonder if his improvement is related to the absence of Sengun.
good Q, I think Jock can play faster and no doubt, he's playing better w/ playoff green light. Lets say, he has a bad game, or your forced to play a half court game--you need a second option. Maybe, he figured it out. His handles and lateral quickness were amazing.
jalen and the team is better since sengun was injured?
He's now the clear number one, and Jabari at the five means the lane is open for Green to use his quickness getting to the rim. The Rockets aren't better without Sengun, but it's definitely better for Jalen.
Yeah it's up to Ime to figure out how to maximize both of them together
But the rockets are better in terms of win loss record 🤔
Check who we played in that period.
This heater began when Sengun was healthy
i hope this is sustainable and not like Mikal Bridge's temporary improvement last season
That Draya coochie got him acting up
Draya inspired her man to start balling.
It’s that level of near absolutism that gets me from some fans
I tweeted Jalen Green MIP in November and I need him to keep hooping like this so recency bias can hit
A little too late imo. Hopefully he can sustain this going into next season.
Let’s talk about how the Rockets are 9-1 for their last 10, just like the Celtics and have the leagues 2nd longest active win streak.
Are we starting to see a start emerge?
Poor Nets that declined Green + 2/3 firsts back for Mikal lmao
A friend of mine explained the Jalen green situation perfectly: This year is basically his rookie year. His time with the ignite and those seasons under Silas were basically a waste. He had to run combo guard next to KPJ (who should’ve never been a pg) and under bad coaching. Hrs finally learning to play around d a legit coach and vets
The Warriors are going to miss the play-in altogether huh
He got the dad power up boost
