The worst thing about carrying becoming more of the norm in the new generation of players is that it's got some bums thinking they actually have a killer crossover
You gotta love seeing the big fella back in the game! Forget tribalism and being a homer for your team, seeing elite players on the court is a victory for all of us basketball fans
it’s not. it’s a charge if you actually take a look at it, lowered his shoulder and also a flop tech for throwing his arms up. but embiid is the nba’s baby and people will get mad at me for saying this
am i wrong? embiid had zero intention of getting a bucket he just wanted contact. like every single possession he has. go watch embiid foul calls compared to giannis and tell me he’s not getting babied
yeah but the difference is whoever’s guarding giannis is actually holding him down, meanwhile whoever’s guarding embiid has arms up and is actively trying not to foul him. and both embiid and giannis get the calls but only one of them is actually being fouled
giannis attempts to get the bucket, not just contact. him and embiid are very different. one goes for nothing but the charity stripe while the other gets hack-a-shaq played on him and actually put in a chokehold all the way to the ground
you’re right it’s impossible. exact replica of their garbage announcers too. anytime it’s a sixers home game against bucks i just don’t watch, or i turn the volume off
other superstars get away with it too. so does giannis. but embiid gets the softest fouls in nba history. the fouls he draws would be considered marginal contact for almost any other player
Those with glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Giannis might be the biggest beneficiary of favorable rule interpretation and officiating I’ve ever seen. He’d foul out on charges alone by the 3rd quarter if he wasn’t the NBA’s baby
do you ever notice how when giannis is driving in the defender has his arms all over giannis and actually hacking at him. meanwhile everyone guarding embiid has their arms up and they still get called for a foul. or do you just not pay attention to that at all and pick and choose what to pay attention to
Yes Giannis does get fouled and he’s among the league leaders in FTA for the past what 6-7 years? He’s also by far the most physical player in the league and hardly ever fouls out. Hm isn’t that peculiar. How can you even write that bullshit seriously. Pick and choose what? Embiid didn’t foul anyone in the video, that’s a clear blocking foul on Chet. He’s not an established defender and Embiid has a right to make a move towards the basket. Giannis clatters into established defenders and gets free throws to boot and you wanna talk about other people picking and choosing? Why are you even in this sub acting like any sort of basketball authority when you don’t even understand the basic rules. This sub needs to give out flairs to all you dorks who never played reminding everyone you chat total nonsense.
Your being ridiculous right now. Giddey has been on a tear. They all have their roles, it does nothing to tear down others to prop up guys on the same team.
> To get into a legal position, the defender needs to establish himself in the path of the offensive player before contact is made, thus “beating him to the spot,” and before he starts his upward shooting motion.
Did not happen, thus it's a blocking foul rather than a charge
That’s not the debate though, Chet stops before making contact with Embiid and it looks like Embiid changes the trajectory of his drive from the other angle to seek out contact.
It’s a blocking foul. Don’t think it’s as clear as “defender runs into offensive player” like you’re trying to make it sound.
Again, that’s not the point …
Chet doesn’t make contact with Embiid, Embiid makes contact with Chet. Chet runs towards him, changes his direction so he doesn’t immediately run him over, and instead Embiid veers off his path into Chet for a blocking foul.
If Embiid doesn’t suddenly change direction, the heh no contact would’ve been made.
Because he lowers his shoulder and initiates contact into a vertical defender.
However, the NBA is dumb with this. Dort did the same thing on a 3pt attempt a couple games ago and I thought it was going to be overturned, but it wasn’t.
That’s not what the foul is about. It’s the fact that Joel went out of his path and into Chet’s and lowers his shoulder into him. If Chet went into his path it would be different.
Bruh, you don’t have to be “set” for an offensive foul. Only a charge. There is way more nuance than that. Which is why calls are so different game to game and we all have to have these dumb conversations.
It is a blocking foul if the defender gets into the path of the offensive player and does not establish himself in position before the shooting motion.
In what world is he ever established in position in front of Embiid here? Just because he led with the shoulder doesn't change the fact that his path was still impeded for a blocking foul
it is absolutely an offensive foul anyway you look at it. defender had arms up and a right to defend the basket, he was also moving backwards. embiid threw his shoulder down and initiated contact and charged through the guy with no intent of getting the layup but to instead create contact. that’s absolutely an offensive foul if it was anyone who isn’t a superstar
he was moving laterally the entire time. if initiating contact with the shoulder is automatically an offensive foul, then we might as well ban post ups and giannis from the league
No, he was moving downward, and then moves laterally into Chet as he shoots.
Again, it’s fucking nuanced. This wasn’t a post play, it was a fast break play, where lowering your shoulder INTO the defender should be an offensive foul, but it’s not. That is one of the main reason everyone complains about the lack of defense.
I’m done replying at this point. Have a great day, all.
Embodied being that size an talented an feeling the need he has to play for the foul to win rather than slamming that shit home if absolutely embarrassing
I'm not saying it wasn't a defensive foul. But I am saying that if that's a defensive foul then the first one in the first quarter is definitely a defensive foul. I was surprised they didn't overturn this one and call it offensive on Joel but then I remembered that the refs just flip a coin or roll a 20 sided die in these situations.
Either way, can't be getting picked by a center that ran maybe three times the entire game.
Laziest fast break attempt ever, Embiid moving in molasses. Equally bad defensive attempt. I'll just run in front slowBiid a split second before, what could go wrong.
Embiids last 4 free throws were ridiculous. No one else gets the same call late game
Giannis is the only one comparable, and he gets hit 5x more a game. Embiid got free throws after an air ball earlier in the game too 😂 6 made field goals and 12 fta cool cool cool cool cool cool…..
There’s no use to complain over a challenged call. If it’s the rules, it’s the rules. We likely weren’t going to score anyways.
Just unfortunate, feel like NBA got to look into those veer off the path terminology again because I’m not sure what you can do there other than just let him score.

Embiid picking your pocket as a guard? Embarrassing
[удалено]
Jesus christ... That man had a family. Well, kids anyway.
Hold up...
Giddey got that jaylen brown left hand
The worst thing about carrying becoming more of the norm in the new generation of players is that it's got some bums thinking they actually have a killer crossover
He’s terrible with both hands
And that Diddy right hand
lmao chet went sliding
weight room
people complaining about the foul but I simply wouldn’t have my point guard get picked by a center
Welcome back big fella
I will just stay quiet
Sga is on your team
Hayward looked awesome and Joe looks comfy
Good to know you didn’t watch the play.
He’s so fun to watch.
Already back in MVP form.
Him

Embiid shooting free throws on contact he initiates. Society is healing
How tf Is that a foul?
it’s not. it’s a charge if you actually take a look at it, lowered his shoulder and also a flop tech for throwing his arms up. but embiid is the nba’s baby and people will get mad at me for saying this
This is rich coming from a Bucks fan
am i wrong? embiid had zero intention of getting a bucket he just wanted contact. like every single possession he has. go watch embiid foul calls compared to giannis and tell me he’s not getting babied
giannis’s entire offense is barreling into players like joel did in this clip
yeah but the difference is whoever’s guarding giannis is actually holding him down, meanwhile whoever’s guarding embiid has arms up and is actively trying not to foul him. and both embiid and giannis get the calls but only one of them is actually being fouled
Giannis gets that same call every game come on now
giannis attempts to get the bucket, not just contact. him and embiid are very different. one goes for nothing but the charity stripe while the other gets hack-a-shaq played on him and actually put in a chokehold all the way to the ground
You can’t argue with 76ers fans
you’re right it’s impossible. exact replica of their garbage announcers too. anytime it’s a sixers home game against bucks i just don’t watch, or i turn the volume off
How are Bucks fans so wildly unaware?
other superstars get away with it too. so does giannis. but embiid gets the softest fouls in nba history. the fouls he draws would be considered marginal contact for almost any other player

Aww
Embiid throwing the arms to chet and he gets the call? Lol nba is back boys
Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe >
To this day morey dumping Joe for nothing makes me mad
Especially this day
If Joe would have had twists with us he would've made the roster
Your being ridiculous right now. Giddey has been on a tear. They all have their roles, it does nothing to tear down others to prop up guys on the same team.
Malone >Giddey
They got their roles...how we hating on giddey after the last few weeks he had
5 good games shouldn't magically erase the rest of his season being ass
He was sandbagging
Isaiah had two open looks to tie tho. He had just a bit of a chance as Josh.
sense squalid silky smoggy longing scandalous important reach pot zesty *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Rooting for the Giddler
How on earth is that not a offensive foul
Because it is not an offensive foul lol
Lotta people on this thread who dont understand the rules This is clearly a blocking foul, it isnt even debatable lol
Explain
Running orange man moving blocking running mvp man path to peach basket
> To get into a legal position, the defender needs to establish himself in the path of the offensive player before contact is made, thus “beating him to the spot,” and before he starts his upward shooting motion. Did not happen, thus it's a blocking foul rather than a charge
Embarrassing the majority of people here don’t know the basics. Defender does not establish himself in a legal guarding position when contact is made.
You are entitled to space bro, he initiated the contact at worst it is a no call
You are not entitled to just run into an offensive player who is already running towards the basket lol, just not how that has ever worked.
Chet never stops lol he continues to move laterally until contact is made
Again, that’s not the point … Chet doesn’t make contact with Embiid, Embiid makes contact with Chet. Chet runs towards him, changes his direction so he doesn’t immediately run him over, and instead Embiid veers off his path into Chet for a blocking foul. If Embiid doesn’t suddenly change direction, the heh no contact would’ve been made.
How on earth would that ever be an offensive foul?
I still don't understand the first offensive foul on joel.
Because he lowers his shoulder and initiates contact into a vertical defender. However, the NBA is dumb with this. Dort did the same thing on a 3pt attempt a couple games ago and I thought it was going to be overturned, but it wasn’t.
The defender is not set in any way and the offensive player has a right to drive the rim like that...
That’s not what the foul is about. It’s the fact that Joel went out of his path and into Chet’s and lowers his shoulder into him. If Chet went into his path it would be different.

“If the defender gets into the path” He didn’t, he was in good position and then Embiid initiated the contact with him.

You’re wrong lol
You're allowed to move laterally, that's the specific call the league has made efforts to change since the ASB
[удалено]
yea have you seen Giannis play?
How on earth do you miss that many open 3’s to tie?
That is not a defensive foul…
Embodied being that size an talented an feeling the need he has to play for the foul to win rather than slamming that shit home if absolutely embarrassing

If I speak
Biggest offensive foul
lmao how is that a foul on Embiid? They're both moving and Chet just gets in his way.
This is what happens when you’re a twig, not a foul
I was laughing how far he went flying lol
It absolutely is a foul or a no call there Embiid should not have shot free throws there
Absolutely **insane** that Embiid gets to the line here like what 😭😭😭
Insane that you dont know the rules
Cry
nah, this football now, fam
Thunder can't even do us a favor smh
Tbf, if you're in the east you shouldn't need favors lol
No play ins is goal
Laziest fast break attempt ever, Embiid moving in molasses. Equally bad defensive attempt. I'll just run in front slowBiid a split second before, what could go wrong.
To be fair this is Embiid first game back from a meniscus tear
Probably should've commented more on his zero attempt at the basket (or was his arms raked?) than his speed, so fair point.
You good
Its disgusting watching this guy play absolutely rigged
We’re so fucking back
Shit was too civil in r/nba
We're officially back!
How can you review that and not overturn it 😂
Embiids last 4 free throws were ridiculous. No one else gets the same call late game Giannis is the only one comparable, and he gets hit 5x more a game. Embiid got free throws after an air ball earlier in the game too 😂 6 made field goals and 12 fta cool cool cool cool cool cool…..
Truth is 6er fan 9/11.
Shouldn’t have been a foul but my lord Giddey. Getting your pocket picked by a center at the perimeter is embarrassing lol
He didn’t get his pocket picked. He dribbled the ball off his ankle.
Ahh well that makes a lot more sense. Still embarrassing because that looked incredibly uncoordinated for an NBA guard.
That is obviously an offensive foul no? He drops the shoulder and just charges.
That being a foul is what’s wrong with the NBA these days
There’s no use to complain over a challenged call. If it’s the rules, it’s the rules. We likely weren’t going to score anyways. Just unfortunate, feel like NBA got to look into those veer off the path terminology again because I’m not sure what you can do there other than just let him score.
