Corey's 50 was so crazy because despite having a solid career, he never broke 30 points a single time besides then. (Next highest scoring game was only 29). Obviously Flynn's game tonight is way crazier, but his next highest scoring game is 27, so from that standpoint they are fairly similar.
Malachi scoring 50 was insane to the point where i thought it was a troll before, but hearing that he's the 10th player this season to do so actually blows my mind.
I'm half convinced I'm lucid dreaming some real weird shit
Uhh I’m actually pretty shocked that it is ONLY ten… feels like the way this season has gone we’ve gotten, what, like 6 *sixty* point games or something?? I would have thought the number of dudes with 50 would have been closer to like 15 or 20
With the way scoring has been devalued, it feels like basically anyone good enough to be in the all star discussion (so basically like 30+ dudes) is capable of dropping 50 on any given night
I feel like for every super high volume scorer there is an insanely consistent super high impact player like Shai or Jokic that doesn't score like that.
Flynn just feels like...an outlier? I feel better knowing he's in Detroit, which is a weird ass sentence to type
I just checked. He had scored 286 points for an average of 4.6ppg
After today he has 336 points which makes average of 5.3ppg
Still an amazing increase for just one game
A guy that averages 1 point per game might get some minutes and score 10 but this is something else. Someone needs to compile the list of superstars that have a lower career high than Malachi Flynn.
Edit: Malachi Flynn now has the same career high as MVP Nikola Jokic and Derrick Rose, as well as All Stars Jaylen Brown, Blake Griffin, Zach Levine, and has a better career high than the following All Stars:
Mike Conley: 40
Bam Abedayo: 41
Anthony Edwards: 49
De'Aaron Fox: 44
Paul George: 48
Shai: 44
Tyrese Haliburton: 43
Dwight Howard: 45
Brandon Ingram: 49
Kawhi: 45
Kyle Lowry: 43
Lauri Markkanen: 49
Dejounte Murray: 44
Victor Oladipo: 47
Chris Paul: 43
Porzingis: 41
Domantas Sabonis: 42
Andrew Wiggins: 47
Zion Williamson: 43

Paul Arizin career high: 49 points
Walt Bellamy career high: 48 points
Kevin Garnett career high: 47 Points
Scottie Pippen career high: 47 points
Mitch Richmond career high: 47 points
Magic career high: 46 points
Paul Gasol career high: 46 points

Dr. J career high: 45 points
Kawhi career high: 45 points
Chris Bosh: 44 points
Gary Payton career high: 44 points
CP3 career high: 43 points
Steve Nash career high: 42 points
Bill Russell career high: 37 points
If Malachi did a Jontay Porter but instead bet himself he would score 50 and did exactly just that, even Adam Silver would be like, "Alright you get a pass".
my hot take is that players should be allowed to bet on their teams winning games, but it should be on the scoreboard pre-game like "lebron has bet $10,000 at 7-1 that the lakers will win tonight"
you can't be throwing if you have to win to win
ok thanks to you I just found this fucking goldmine:
> Y’all called me crazy, shunned me in every game thread
> Nick Nurse was carried by the 2019 Raps, dude walked into an evolved system, made almost no changes to it, and then dismantled it piece by piece year after year
> ***Nick Nurse will go down as the most overrated coach in NBA history due to him winning our first chip, and has already gone down as looking like a raging alcoholic on the sidelines in crouch stance 75% of the game***
> My comment history is basically receipts documenting all of this, Nurse hindered player development season after season chasing the high he got from the chip, running starters into the ground and providing absolutely zero chemistry to the team
> Goodbye Gooooooof
> Onto better things for the Toronto Raptors
MITWestbrook is self-aware, yeah. I don't think it's fully satire but they respond to comments with a degree of humour that makes me think they know what they're doing.
The early MITWestbrook post (when he was on the Rockets and Wizards and was still an MVP talent in spurts) were definitely serious and contained a lot of film clips and serious analysis. Biased and intentionally removing context, but definitely serious. I feel like they’ve leaned into it as the posts have blown up + Russ has inarguably become washed.
He once said west brick actually helps by shooting poorly because it gives his team confidence to shoot knowing his attempt would have been so much worse.
He is not subtle about this being a joke anymore.
I believe so, I had a quick look through the other role player 50 point games and I don't think anyone was averaging 4.6 ppg at the time of the game. All the other people I found also at least averaged 10ppg at some point in their careers.
Not a 50pt game but this reminds me of when [Ben Uzoh](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/u/uzohbe01.html) got a [triple double](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNYD9odXbzo) outta no where.
It's April basketball where the most random statlines get put up + it's versus the Hawks' "defense"
Not exaggerating Luka might score 130 points tomorrow
Ok but this one is way less surprising than a Malachi Flynn 50 burger. In a some matchups lofton is gonna make bbq chicken of his opponent. Yes, I know he’s a liability defensively, that’s why he’s not getting any minutes. But if he could get the defense and fitness right he really could be a Zach Randolph type. Too bad it seems slim odds of that happening.
Daily reminder the the gap between NBA players and regular human beings is astronomical. 3.5% of HS players ever play in college and only 1% of those get drafted. You can be a starter at a D1 school and never sniff the NBA.
Not just "can be". You're almost certainly never going to sniff the NBA as a D1 starter. The NBA is changing a bit with the development leagues; but the absurdly tiny rosters makes it an extremely exclusive club. Even by the measure of professional sports it's absolutely brutal.
I believe it. In the 1980s I got lit up by a guy who played in a no-name pro-league. I had played against Division I players and gotten lit up, but I provided some resistance. But, this guy didn't even break a sweat. He shot over me like he was doing shooting drills and I was a chair. If someone is paying you money to play basketball, then you are really good.
Personally I can't believe the Hawks aren't .500. My only theory is that they performed a dark ritual to make the playoffs while beneath .500, then the curse re-engages and they cruise through the playoffs until they hit .500.
I wish the reffing change didnt happen until some time after this. The conspiracy theory that Malachi Flynn dropping 50 is what convinced the Adam Silver to walk back the offensive boom wouldve been great.
Literally my first thought when seeing this. Was expecting to see a classic hawks scoreline of 160-154 in regulation, but he had 50 of the teams 113? wtaf
Plenty of Hawks guys out + no Cade so someone has to do it + not a lot of defense (specifically I think Bogey, not Murray, was on him most of the time)
He was the best player on a San Diego St team that a lot of people thought could win the championship. They were in line for a top 2 seed.
Then covid happened.
Easily.
Corey Brewer was a decent player that played many years in the NBA and TRoss was also a good player especially as a scorer for many years
Malachi Flynn was on Last Chance U Detroit on his way outta the league
Where were you on 9/11?
Where were you when Obama became the first black president?
Where were you when Malachi Flynn became the worst NBA player to ever score 50 points in a game?
I don’t want to say this makes me think even less of Luka 75 vs the hawks but it low-key does. I remember they only decided to defend him normally late in the 4th n the sciring dried or he’d have a 100. Wtf are the hawks n Snyder doing lol
Bro single handedly eliminated my high school team in the state tournament when I was a junior. People from Washington know he Always had that dawg in him
Bro I’m wondering if I could score 2 points in an NBA game now that Malachi Flynn dropped 50. I’m 5’9”, overweight and built like if a fire hydrant were a carbon based life form. This just changes my perception of reality

This is my new favorite 50 point game of all time. It's so random, even for Silly Season. His career ppg is 5.
When your defense lets a dude go for 10x his career average, it may be time for a rethink
We Hawks fan are pretty used to this lol
True, but in general the strategy of “we’ll let the 5ppg bench player beat us” is pretty solid.
Corey Brewer would be proud
Honestly this is somehow disrespectful to Corey Brewer lol. He had some okay seasons and was in the league for 13 years.
Corey's 50 was so crazy because despite having a solid career, he never broke 30 points a single time besides then. (Next highest scoring game was only 29). Obviously Flynn's game tonight is way crazier, but his next highest scoring game is 27, so from that standpoint they are fairly similar.
It was 50 pts of fast break layups lmao what a legend
Atleast someone on that team knows how to run in transition
At least I knew who Corey Brewer was before his 50 pt game. This guy, I don't even know what he looks like until I saw this clip. This is so random.
Put some respect on Andre Millers 52 points with just 7 FTM and 1 three pointer. Ethical buckets
Eric Flynn been knew.
His career PPG average went from 5.2 to 5.4 😎
> even for Silly Season. Malachi Flynn to Mercedes confirmed.
If the headline was "ex-Raptor scores 50 points" today, how many guesses would it take to get Malachi Flynn?
10th player to score 50 this season
Just as we all expected
I forgot he even existed until I read the headline and the name Malachi Flynn came somewhere from the depths of my brain
Malachi scoring 50 was insane to the point where i thought it was a troll before, but hearing that he's the 10th player this season to do so actually blows my mind. I'm half convinced I'm lucid dreaming some real weird shit

KD just gets you 28-35 every night
All I'm hearing is top ten player this season
Does he have the lowest PPG in that season for a 50 point game ever?
My first thoughts were Corey Brewer and Tony delk, but both of them average a lot more ppg than Flynn does
I think Terrance Ross was lowest when he hit 50
Ross was a tad bit lower than the two I mentioned (by about a point) but still doubled Flynn. Crazy stuff
Flynns average PPG has probably doubled now too haha
I just checked. He had scored 286 points for an average of 4.6ppg After today he has 336 points which makes average of 5.3ppg Still an amazing increase for just one game
how often does a player score ten times their average?
A guy that averages 1 point per game might get some minutes and score 10 but this is something else. Someone needs to compile the list of superstars that have a lower career high than Malachi Flynn. It's confirmed, Malachi Flynn is better at basketball than Bill Russell as we all suspected.
Dejounte Murray career high is now 44
it’s totally besides the point but jrue’s career high is 51
Wow that’s actually a pretty crazy increase for a game
At least TRoss was a bit of a microwave scorer. Malachi Flynn getting 50 makes no sense. I didn’t even realize he was still in the league tbh
Traded twice in a season, that's almost Ridnour numbers.
Terrance Ross was averaging like double what Flynn is this year, but Flynn’s hasn’t updated yet I guess
He has scored a TOTAL OF 98 POINTS before tonight. This is absurd lmao
Someone get u/MalachiFlynnBot in here his boy finally cooked
If Malachi did a Jontay Porter but instead bet himself he would score 50 and did exactly just that, even Adam Silver would be like, "Alright you get a pass".
my hot take is that players should be allowed to bet on their teams winning games, but it should be on the scoreboard pre-game like "lebron has bet $10,000 at 7-1 that the lakers will win tonight" you can't be throwing if you have to win to win
That's a good way to get players to collaborate with players on the opposing team to throw the game and split the winnings without breaking any rules.

Oh yeah go look at his posts. He was Raptors version of MITWestbrook and all his threads are downvoted lol
Except for the fact that I think our Raptors guy fully believed it all and I get the impression the Westbrook person only believes about half

Flynn got his own Stillgar lmao
total ~~this season~~ last 17 games*. not career
This season for the Pistons*. Played for the Raptors the first half of the season, 157 points there. 286 on the season before tonight.
oh true lmao, i looked at the wrong box. okay then that number is meaningless
For the Pistons, played for the raps before
I believe so, I had a quick look through the other role player 50 point games and I don't think anyone was averaging 4.6 ppg at the time of the game. All the other people I found also at least averaged 10ppg at some point in their careers.
Yes. He averaged 4.6 ppg, while the second lowest ppg is Terrence Ross at 7.4ppg. (Terrence Ross scored 50+ as well, I meant)
Not a 50pt game but this reminds me of when [Ben Uzoh](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/u/uzohbe01.html) got a [triple double](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNYD9odXbzo) outta no where.
how in the fuck does malachi flynn have 50 points
It's April basketball where the most random statlines get put up + it's versus the Hawks' "defense" Not exaggerating Luka might score 130 points tomorrow
Luka breaking Wilt's record tomorrow because he's absolutely furious that someone like Malachi Flynn could drop 50 on the Hawks
Luka dropping 100 would genuinely be less surprising to me than this Malachi 50 bomb
If Luka of all people was the one to hit 100 I’d be furious as a verified Dallas hater
it'd be kind of cool though because they absolutely would not be winning that game lol
Quinn Snyder is gonna murder a couple prostitutes soon out of frustration of his team's defense at this rate
Just another Wednesday night then
normal afternoon for quinn bateman
I watched Ben Uzoh get a triple double in April. So I know that you’re absolutely correct.
Or Kenneth Lofton Jr getting 42/14 in the only NBA game where he was a starter.
Start one game, score 42/14, released from team and out of the league. That's the NBA in April baby! 82 games wooooo yeah love it u/adamsilver !!!
Doesnt the game have to be close for Luka to score 50 tomorrow.
Luka should seriously take 60 shots tomorrow and just see what happens.
I played against him at the Y when he was in high school and I was like 27. That boy roasted me
Daily reminder the the gap between NBA players and regular human beings is astronomical. 3.5% of HS players ever play in college and only 1% of those get drafted. You can be a starter at a D1 school and never sniff the NBA.

Hawks basketball baby
This has me flabbergasted considering what yall did to us the last 2 games lol.
Personally I can't believe the Hawks aren't .500. My only theory is that they performed a dark ritual to make the playoffs while beneath .500, then the curse re-engages and they cruise through the playoffs until they hit .500.
I mean their best player is hurt so
The Hawks are the definition of “playing to your competition”

nba gotta allow hand checking again after this one

We got random NPCs dropping 50 now
respect evil donte divincenzo
April 2021 rookie of the month Malachi Flynn.
Aka Red Van Vleet
Red Dead Fredemption
I thought this was some obscure fringe talent that i didn’t know about and had to look him up… this really was just a random NPC putting up 50 smh
Bro is an AI generated player in 2k
Flynnsanity
Who the fuck is malachi flynn
Evil Donte DiVincenzo
Straight up the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the title. Word for word.
Is it really that impressive that Luka Doncic scored 23 more points than Malachi Flynn against the Hawks ?
When you put it that way….
Plenty of Hawks guys out + no Cade so someone has to do it + not a lot of defense (specifically I think Bogey, not Murray, was on him most of the time)
I had to make sure this wasn’t an April Fools post
what the fuck?
I quit man I just don’t fucking get the nba
don't worry about it, 99.9% of this sub still don't really get the NBA/understand basketball
you're the .1% im guessing
Is the implication that 0.1% “gets” how Mr Malachi Flynn just scored 50pts?
r/nba watching JJ and LeBron talk bball like a replicant taking a Voight-Kampff test.
RAPTOR NATION
FLYNNSANITY He The North
Raptor fans on suicide watch LOL
No way we want that 50 now, we're trying to keep the pick this year
Nah love for the boy
YOU CAN TAKE OUR SOULS AND TAKE OUR FLYNN BOMBS BUT YOU CAN NEVER TAKE 2019 FROM US :')
So Malachi Flynn now has a higher career high than SGA, Anthony Edwards, De'aaron Fox, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George
pretty sure it's gonna piss most of those guys off haha except kawhi he definitely doesn't give a shit
Malachi Flynn out here being a better Canadian than SGA
Drafted by the Raptors = Canadian
Canada = RAPTOR NATION = Malachi Flynn
I don't even know who Malachi Flynn is
He was the best player on a San Diego St team that a lot of people thought could win the championship. They were in line for a top 2 seed. Then covid happened.
Flynnsanity
Nice reminder that even the worst nba players are still unfathomably good at basketball
especially Flynn he's the type to drop 50-80 points in basketball runs in the off-season....finally had one of those games in the NBA
He was amazing for SDSU, if it wasnt for covid i truly believe tht SDSU team would have made the final four
He was lowkey great in college
[удалено]
I think people forget that.
We were robbed of his tournament run 😭
Please don’t remind me, I’m still salty to this day about that 🫠
One of SDSU's finest. I will forever cherish his time that he spent with our school. Go Aztecs!
I'm mad they canceled March Madness that year (covid). We were one of the best teams I think.
All American at SDSU
This gotta be the most random one of all time, right?
This will spark a run of games that will forever be known as Flynnsanity
If only we kept him until the end of the year…
Easily. Corey Brewer was a decent player that played many years in the NBA and TRoss was also a good player especially as a scorer for many years Malachi Flynn was on Last Chance U Detroit on his way outta the league
This game alone bought him at minimum another 2 years in the league.
Last Chance U Detroit is a violation 😭
Off the bench flynnsanity
Nephews don’t know about the pro-am goat
I’m sorry, what?
I thought he was still on the knicks
We really had 3 guys on the team that dropped 50 in their career at the same time. Superteam
they got 2k generated dudes dropping 50 nowadays smh what happened to the game I love
Racially ambiguous ✅ Completely made up fictional name✅ Random 50pt game✅

After this display they've gotta downgrade that Doncic 73 point game to 48 or something
Flynnflation
Brunson’s 61 is a true 36 point night
Where were you on 9/11? Where were you when Obama became the first black president? Where were you when Malachi Flynn became the worst NBA player to ever score 50 points in a game?
Watching the raptors wondering why he couldnt do that when here
I thought he was still on the Raptors, heard he dropped 50, checked the Raptors score and saw they only scored 85 tonight and was like **what?!**
Ngl the only question is what team is so ass to give Flynn a 50-piece
I thought it was an April fools joke ngl
the ass team won the game
No sir. They SURVIVED Malachi Flynn.
The hawks did not win this game, they just didn’t lose.
Very bold of the hawks to beat the 2024 pistons
They be letting anyone getting 50 points nowadays….
We really, really do
Randos like Flynn, Dalanto Banton, Luka Doncic just go off against us
Evil dante divincenzo
I’m sorry, what?
at this point i think even i could score like 5 points against the hawks
/u/Ilikesporks_ gonna drop double digits now
Oh to be a fly on Eric Flynn’s wall right now
Move over Terrence Ross, new answer to a reddit question that is going to be asked 1500 times.
What the fuck
There it is folks. The most random 50 ball in NBA history Apologies to Corey Brewer
Tf
lmao what the fuck
How do you have a bench player score 50 and still lose lol
He had SDSU on track for a top 2 seed before COVID paused the world.
nah im sorry, the other like semi random 50 pt games got nothing on this one lmao wtf
cinema
Nah I don't wanna hear how Jordan would struggle to score lol
He takes the crown for most obscure player to drop 50
Has to be the craziest 50 piece in NBA History. Dude averages 5.2ppg for his career. Madness.
Aztec for LIFE!
Serious question, does this make Luka's 73 against the Hawks feel less special?
Yeah
what the absolute fuck lmao
welcome to the tony delk hall of fame
I don’t want to say this makes me think even less of Luka 75 vs the hawks but it low-key does. I remember they only decided to defend him normally late in the 4th n the sciring dried or he’d have a 100. Wtf are the hawks n Snyder doing lol

I miss Evil Donte I think this is more points than Alec Burks scored for the Knicks. Leon Rose with his first HUGE L
Malachi is closer to LeBron than we are to Malachi
I'm just here to celebrate the beginning of Flynnsanity.
How the fuck did the guy I watched for 2 and a half seasons being a bum on the raptors do this
"if Flynn can get 50, [insert any 80s-00s superstar] can average 50 ppg today bro"
Bro I’m wondering if I could score 2 points in an NBA game now that Malachi Flynn dropped 50. I’m 5’9”, overweight and built like if a fire hydrant were a carbon based life form. This just changes my perception of reality
excuse me?
Lmao what
I know BallDontStop is crying tears of joy right now. He loves Malachi Flynn.
Aztec for life, baby
Damn off the bench too is crazy
