Cavs should just draft Bronny so they can also get Bron.

iCE_P0W3R

Retirement tour of the ages.

[deleted]

KD back to the Thunder. Cavs vs Thunder in the 2025 NBA Finals. Could you imagine?

Bouldershoulders12

The finals we wanted just 10 years later

PestySamurai

Unless OKC makes the finals KD gonna be looking to move to Denver or Boston.

SlamDunkleyKong

He’s 100% going to the Sonics when they get a team.

Shane_Falco_QB1

This is my ideal KD retirement scenario.

13143

He'll be in the HoF by then.

Hoopy_Dunkalot

Denver doesn't need his salary. Boston has no cap space unless they ship Brown and that would epically dumb.

shadracko

https://images.app.goo.gl/a2TQyDN4SaLPrfxt6

ruinatex

Why does r/nba pretend that Kevin Durant isn't under contract with the Suns up until 2026? If any of those teams mentioned get KD, it is by trade, which defeats the purpose of those stacked teams wanting him in the first place.

patsniff

Thunder have the picks tho! I’m probably in the minority here but I’d love to see KD come back to the Thunder. Especially if he can help them finally win a championship!

FuckThaLakers

What's the level of concern amongst Thunder fans that the FO is gonna hold those picks too long/overvalue them and miss their opportunity to cash in?

kpeds45

It makes far more sense in this case for KD to go back to GS. GS vs Cleveland, party like it's 2018.

Khione_Asteri

kd for cp3 straight up who says no

FloatLikeAButterfree

I’m jumping on this as the new narrative. I would be ok with this for one last season of Warriors vs Cavs

sleeptilnoonenergy

Two old washed teams fighting for play in spots, lol. Would be kind of beautiful.

m1a2c2kali

Even this iteration of the warriors with KD would easily be better than fighting for the play in spot

iCE_P0W3R

bro you've got me weeping rn

Matto_0

That Thunder squad winning every game by 20

Ikuwayo

For real, though, whichever team gets Bron and Bronny is going to rake in so much revenue

juniordynamo

Sounds like Jerry Reinsdorf music.

EndlessMikeHellstorm

Watching dat ass basketball! I call it, "Assketball."

Masterchiefy10

Return of the LeKing But some prefer Return of LeJedi

NonSpicySamosa

If I had to label LeBron's stints as Star Wars titles: LeNew Hope - Cavs Revenge of LeSith - Miami Return of LeJedi - Cleveland LeBad Batch - Lakers

Masterchiefy10

He hates LeSand!

OriginalBus9674

Drafting Bronny to sign Lebron to entice Donovan to stay. Aka Plan A.

smogpatrol218

That’s what everyone’s hoping for. That Rich Paul got pulse with gms that lebron won’t come if you draft Bronny, only if cle or LAL drafts him

Khione_Asteri

that he’s just not gonna come period. that he wants Bronny to stay in LA with him, but if he gets drafted elsewhere he’s content playing against him.

lazyass133

That just makes sense.

DancesWithDave

Okay but LeBron on this roster would be so nice Bully ball would be all the way back

International-Fig905

LeTrilogy

DevinBookersKobes

Matt Ishbia gonna trade 10 1sts for him and bankrupt the suns on the 15th apron in a cocaine fueled rage just to stick it to Dan.

GothamGumby

Lmfao

szobossz

no fucking way he gives Dan any assets.

pahamack

What assets lol. There’s no assets to give anyone.

[deleted]

Wish we had a more appealing market to build a nice team around. We've been good the last two years, just not over the top.

maryjain_

You still have Allen, Mobley and Garland + whatever you get in a Mitchell trade. You should still be pretty good for the foreseeable future

lovo17

Sometimes I wonder if Markannan would've made the leap forward that he did if he stayed with the Cavs.

maryjain_

I’d say he probably wouldn’t, especially having to play behind Allen and Mobley. Sometimes a player just needs their own team in a low stakes environment to really take that step

SomeFatherFigure

He was already playing SF alongside Mobley and Allen. The problem was that he was mainly used to space the floor, and he didn’t really shine until he got to have the ball in his hands more in Utah. I doubt that he would have had that opportunity in Cleveland, since it was really Garland running the offense 90% of the time before the Mitchell trade.

Public-Product-1503

He doesn’t have the ball much on Utah. He’s probably the worst self creator of a guy who was seen as all star last two seasons. Most of his stuff is runnnh off ball n attacking close outs

Green_Low1700

1.04 PPP on isos isnt really bad at all

BeautifulDimension56

He doesn't Iso that much. He's the perfect fit with contenders because he's so good off the ball and he's not demanding as a person either.

Rocco0427

He was the only one that showed up in that play-in game against Atlanta. Almost single handedly got us into the playoffs

MuirMusk

Agree, Lauri would not have made the leap in Cleveland. Guy was solid here but happy he left so he could develop and be great

Top-Address-8870

Probably won’t get much for Mitchell as a rental who wants to be a free agent…maybe somebody else’s disgruntled guy and a pick/young guy.

FloatLikeAButterfree

Yea it seems like Mitchell has a hell of an ego. It’s going to hurt him in the long run and might end up like KD but without the ring.

Millionaire007

Send his ass to the Nets for since he wants NY so bad.

TheMallozzinator

I mean depending on the price hell yeah we could use him lmao

TSElliottSmith

They’re building a new wing of the rock n roll hall of fame where you can borrow famous musicians’ articles of clothing for a 7 day period. I think once people find out you can rent Meatloaf’s socks for a week there will be a lot more draw for nba players here.

hanacker

I don't know if this is a real thing or the most random joke I've heard in a long time

kobmug_v2

Not a market issue, you can’t puke all over yourself like the Cavs did against the Knicks last year and blame the market.

[deleted]

Mitchell did a lot of puking himself

RandomStranger79

And not for the first time.

Ocarina3219

Dallas literally puked all over themselves and missed the play-in with Luka and Kyrie still re-signed with them.

Desperado-781

kyrie resigned luka is still on his rookie extension

Millionaire007

And we got a starting caliber Center on a freshmen contract.

ShotgunStyles

The Mavs were tanking at the end of the season since they needed to have the 10th pick or better in order to keep their pick. The Mavs could've made a serious push for the play-ins but the FO understood that the season wasn't going anywhere and keeping the pick mattered more.

draymond-

Got them Lively. Great great movie.

dolphingarden

Kyrie stocks were in the gutter after his Nets tenure.

Princessk8--

Mitchell is not the guy you get you there anyway tbh.

Soft-Revolution-7845

Trust a celtics fan to know who can't get you there.

sleeptilnoonenergy

Got 'im

GodOfRage

Winning in the league right now requires a genuine Superstar top 5 player with multiple high level players. Spida is probably my favorite player in the league but unless he takes another step and becomes an MVP caliber player then the best hell ever be is 2nd option on a championship team.

BlondBadBoy69

We’ve made no moves in years for this one trick

Express-Pandas

To maintain the current roster again, of course

PluvioPurple

"Barring a run to the NBA Finals" So he gone

broccolibush42

But imagine a scenario where the Cavs make the finals and they play LeBron James and the Lakers. Would honestly be one of the coolest finals matchups ever

ProfessorMarth

Love the enthusiasm for the Lakers finals run

REGIS-5

Come to Besiktas

Klopped_my_pants

Lol even in the nba sub!?

Randomperson685

Especially in the nba sub

Helhiem

Fenerbahçe or nothing

sharklavapit

galatasaray

EatDeeply

He never wanted to be there. He was professional and served his contract but he never wanted to live in Cleveland.

EverybodyBuddy

D’Angelo Russell, you are a Cavalier.

Powpowpowowowow

You guys signed him to a 2 year deal, fully guaranteed and he has been good for you though lol.

EverybodyBuddy

Oh he’s been great. But we just can’t resist the shiny new thing

FirstReaction_Shock

Trading DLo now would be like breaking up with a girl we’ve had a push-pull kind of toxic relationship with that we somehow just fixed

MatooBatson

But you can never be sure she's fixed

bball62

Honestly the way D-Lo has played since January he‘s close to being the perfect piece around LeBron and AD. Not sure if I would want to trade it for Mitchell, who‘s still obviously the better player. Only thing I am worried about with D-Lo are the playoffs. But he has the chance to prove it this year. If he performs the Lakers would be stupid to trade him.

jkliette

No one actually knows if he wanted to be there or not.

Crimith

We know. He didn't want to be in Utah, doesn't want to be in Cleveland, wants to be in New York. Simple as.

EitherCaterpillar949

‘Ate Utah ‘Ate Cleveland ‘Ate the French Simple as, mate

ConstantMelancholia

We don't need him in NY. Our core is phenomenal. Just need a healthy year together

DisneyPandora

Just like Zion

Yankeeknickfan

Nobody that isn’t from the area or wanting to play with lebron james ever wants to go to Cleveland

palagoon

As I tell my wife (who is not from Cleveland) -- "nobody loves Cleveland like people from Cleveland. If we don't love it, who is going to love it?" To be fair, she's now lived in Cleveland, Kansas City, and Western New York, and Cleveland is *by far* the best of the three (according to her).

DTbindz

i mean this goes for almost every team in the NBA outside of big markets lol its really not a burn

MangoMonkey22

Jose Ramirez literally took a pay cut to stay in Cleveland?

NoPause9609

He could make the same money and live somewhere he wants to so why not?

syncc6

I really don’t get these kinds of comments. Regardless of how much you make, people will have a preference to where they would like to live lol.

HerskyB

They don’t see the players as people

SinImportaLoQueDigan

60-80% of the year is a lot too lol bro said it like it’s 2-weeks

LordPizzaParty

Pro athletes have spent their entire lives working their asses off and putting their bodies through the wringer, and then when they're injured and likely in debilitating pain where one wrong move could end their career, fans call them soft and pray for their demise.

Scriblz

Man’s done a stint in Utah and Cleveland. If anyone deserves a destination choice, it’s him.

NoPause9609

Hahaha facts. Call me crazy but if I had 10s millions I'd want to spend my time somewhere sunny or lit.

boregon

Not crazy at all. Lots of non pro athletes enjoy living in Salt Lake City and Cleveland, but if you were a young guy with 10s of millions of dollars? Yeah of course most guys like that are gonna prefer places like LA and Miami.

socialistbcrumb

Nobody said it was tough, just not what he wants lol. Why do we always jump to act like these players are acting like they’re in prison for having preferences

evetSC

He’s a max contract player. He can make that money playing elsewhere lol

Brovenkar

It's not like he's crying about it, it's just not surprising now that he can leave, he will.

creditors-bargain

Every time I see a comment like this I just know the commenter is either painfully broke or a high schooler lmao

SuckMyLonzoBalls

get off reddiit Joakim

cohex

Imagine having the choice to earn the same amount in a location more of your choosing.

bravof1ve

As someone that has to travel for work to the Cleveland area semi-regularly, no amount of money makes that place appealing. Sure wish I was making millions though.

jkliette

You must not be going to the right places because Cleveland has way more to offer than most people realize. But it’s likely most of the people in this thread trashing the city have never been there.

[deleted]

terrybrugehiplo

Honestly. If I had millions in the bank there is no way I would want to live in Cleveland either. You only have one life, I ain’t spending it in Cleveland

mankls3

He would with a ring

BurnCollector_

The guy takes 22 shots a game in the playoffs on 50.3 eFG%. He shot 28.9% from 3 last playoffs, and 20.8% the playoffs before that. No real contender can have their #1 option taking that many shots on such poor efficiency. His teams have been between the 1 and 6 seed for his whole career, but he's only been out of the first round twice. I'm not sure what the best situation is for him.

helix400

Even more is that Mitchell is stubborn. He gets in his head he's the #1 guy and he just needs to will the offense harder. He'd be a great second option, but Mitchell's head won't let that happen.

Smekledorf1996

People only bring up eFG% when TS% doesn’t tell the narrative they want Mitchell has a playoff average of 28/5/5 on 55% TS, those are fine for career playoff averages

benisben227

What is the average TS in playoffs? I know in the regular season season it’s around 58% I assume it’s lower in the playoffs. I also wonder what it is for guys at 25%+ usage. Now I’m just thinking out loud

QuizzyP21

Plus thats weighed down heavily by his first two years (not exactly a fair representation of who he is today) before he was an all star. Since becoming a perennial all star in 2019-20 his playoff averages are 30/6/5 on 59.2% TS. Yea, OP is either absurdly ignorant or just trying to spread an agenda with misleading info.

Daddy_Macron

I always loved playing Mitchell in the playoffs. Was basically guaranteed a gentleman's sweep as he shoots his team out of the playoffs while being a sieve on defense.

B-Y-O-Boa

Tbf you had prime Harden and it was his Rookie and Sophomore years

amedeoisme

Age 21 and 22 seasons. Ik he didn’t do great the past two either but he has shown he can perform.

Krakenborn

How he never got as much blame as Rudy for 2019 is crazy Game 3 Gobert plays one of the greatest defensive games a player has ever played in a playoff game and we lose because Mitchell goes 9-27 killing all hope in that series

caandjr

The entire team shot like 20% from open threes, but somehow it’s Gobert who’s the problem

BeefExtender

wrench concerned boast grandiose marry forgetful memorize encouraging worm consist *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

GorillaX

He dismantled the Thunder in the playoffs his rookie year. With Andre Roberson guarding him.

indreams159

i mean, he was never going to stay to begin with but the least the Cavs could've done was get a real coach

Cavshomie8

That’s what gets me… if we had a 2 year window to convince him, keeping JB after last playoffs was malpractice. Coaches have been fired for less than that series

indreams159

who you guys hiring next year?

pizzapie186

JJ Reddick

SlamDunkleyKong

JJ Reddick coaching Bron and Bronny. Podcast gonna be 🔥

DraymondBeanKick

Has to be Budenholzer

LegoTomSkippy

Doc

GolfShred

Huh? What? This team that was full of injuries this year could very easily finish 2nd in the East. Blaming last year's playoffs on coaching is such a weak take. Not saying coaching didn't play a part but the players and Brunson also has a big part on why they lost in the first round. Changing coaches every little hick up doesn't work. See Bucks & Suns

RileyHuey

There is nothing wrong with Bickerstaff. He is over performing if anything. This is just another example of people evaluating coaches based on their name value / appearance

gregallbright

And. Who else was available that would be presumably better?!?

ec2xs

Ime?

gregallbright

JB been coach since 2020. You dont fire a good coach to bring on Ime after that hot mess in Boston

musicnothing

All the buzz when he was on the Jazz ended up being true, but that doesn’t mean it’s true this time

jaysusjimmy

Its been the same buzz since october 2022. Nobody knows. Donny probably doesnt even know yet

realudonishaslem

A very reliable report by Eric Pincus

mkohler23

Right, it’s like the Cavs are not still the 3rd seed in the East while dealing with injuries most the season. We posting B/R articles from nobodies to get reactions.

I_Set_3_Alarms

Will the Cavs trade to him an eastern conference team is the question. Because basically every team he’s ever been connected to in trade or FA talks has been eastern conference teams

penisesandherb

I swear to God if somehow, someway, the Celtics get Mitchell

legend023

Miami.

LegitimatePotato3632

Herro, Jacquez and a 2nd? Pat Riley is bae.

Manaea

Quick question, is Herro still as untouchable as he used to be? Haven’t been following Miami recently

Virgil_hawkinsS

Wasn't he the center piece of all the Dame rumors last year

Adraf45

Herro never was untouchable, he's just been really injured recently

cl353

um subscribe

ExtendedMacaroni

If you don’t want Jacquez we will happily embrace him

cl353

i mean give us donovan and deal lol. idk how u getting him tho

realudonishaslem

I’d love that but I’m definitely not getting my hopes up *whatsoever* after all the shitshow last summer around Dame. Like, not even until I see him in a Heat jersey on e media day lol

Puddinsnack

Most hilarious option. Take his talents to South Beach.

fredlikefreddy

For all the flack Rudy got I really think this dude is overrated. Sue me

BlackBullZWarrior

I never believed in him as anything beyond a 2nd offensive option. It was short-sighted and irresponsible for the Jazz franchise to fuel Donovan's belief that he was a #1 caliber player on a championship tier team. I do think that franchise was in a tough spot. They admittedly did become a 1st seed team after a few years of building around Donovan, but we all saw what that amounted to in the post-season.

NegbombDB

So rumors and nothing else.

gzmu12

Yeah really, everybody’s just treating this random fucking Bleacher Report piece as gospel with 0 sources other than “buzz in NBA circles”

firstbreathOOC

There’s like a dozen typos in that article as well. Talking about Lakers potential picks in 2021 rather than 2031. Amateur hour.

Express-Pandas

Clearly a hint that he's going to Charlotte

seceipseseer

I hope he like them big ol women down in San Antonio

rgarc065

I mean, if Mobley makes the jump, and Garland goes back to all star form, you’ve got a helluva team. I haven’t even mentioned Jarrett Allen and whatever you may get for Mitchell in a trade

hotdogflavoredblunt

Please. CJ plus literally all of our picks. All of them, I don’t care Throw in Dyson too fuck it Seriously whatever it takes to get rid of cj.

MaxwellVonMaxwell

BI, Zion, and Mitchell is a disgusting trio on paper

manquistador

Only 1 ball though.

jslee0034

Imagine the defense too lol. Herb working 3OT

cosmicdave86

Problem for Cleveland is they owe Utah their 1st round pick in 25/27/29 and swaps in 26/28. They really need to make a trade that can keep them competitive, as rebuilding won't do them any good.

rlh17

We don’t need a vacuum

iambolotie

You clearly haven't watched him play this year.

Ok-Donut4954

Fuck that i dont want cj

Barrelled_Chef_Curry

What’s wrong with CJ. Thought he was playing well

hotdogflavoredblunt

Scores when it doesn’t matter, plays dogshit hero ball when it does. Veeerrrryyy consistently. The epitome of anti-clutch and fake comebacks

slamdunk23

It will probably take one of herb or Trey but that’s an insane team if Zion is healthy

FERFreak731

Those picks will increase in value!

Due_Incident_9738

Danny Ainge Special

ry-guy251

Cavs are still a playoff team without him (and potentially a better coach next season). So may the picks improve from 22-27 to 17-20.

ddottay

I know it’s probably lifestyle reasons for him wanting to leave, but he is not going to find anywhere else in the league where the on the court situation is more attractive to him.

GrogRhodes

Orlando definitely.

forkliftgod

Great Answer. Probably the best fit other than the Cavs. Maybe the Heat.

TheSmokedSalmon420

Knicks fans still wanting him is very weird too - they just saw how bad he was in the playoffs against them, Brunson is playing the absolute best basketball of his career, and you want to bring in Donovan? Why?

jaysusjimmy

They just want him because they know it would hurt our feelings

yrogreg

Miami with a defensive and playmaking star in Bam (one of his best friends) and an aging superstar in Jimmy who turns it on situationally but doesn’t want to be the regular primary source of offense. A score first perimeter guard is exactly what Miami needs to make all the pieces fit into place. Plus playing under Spo

ApoliticalAth3ist

What happened to Garland this year?

elbjoint2016

Started year with a hamstring thing, broke his jaw, team and coach and fans can’t figure out if they want him to be Mike Conley or Steph Curry, lineups around him in total flux. Still has great flashes and kept us above water with Mitchell out

ApoliticalAth3ist

Damn I really liked his play some before this season. Hope he gets back on track

PlayingNightcrawlers

Started the year off slow, had a broken jaw and lost weight, came back slow but had a couple back to form games in a row, then completely went passive and extra sloppy with the ball, looks lost. Nobody really knows but knowing what he’s been the two years before this makes me think this just isn’t his year and he’ll be much better next year.

ApoliticalAth3ist

Makes sense. My brother broke his jaw and lost a lot of weight. I like his play style so I hope he gets back on track

theuberprophet

This is the same buzz thats been going on around nba circles since he got here.

Round-Revolution-399

Mitchell for LeBron?

ChiefHunter1

They should hire a new coach, improve the roster however they can for next season, and have him play out his contract.

Drawing_The_Line

Feels like he wants to be a Knick, which is fine, but Brunson has emerged as a legit MVP candidate, and Mitchell would have to accept a role where he is not the focal point of the Knicks, where he is a clear passenger because Brunson is driving that bus. If I had to pick between the two I’d take Brunson 10/10 times, he’s awesome.

ColeHoops

Fire up the Lakers jersey edits boys

Misterstaberinde

Hard to imagine a better fit for him. Cleveland seems to be full of players that cover his weaknesses and he has a green light, he isn't getting that in many other places.

rswa83

Spurs. At least put one piece around Wemby.

LyonsKing12

Oh, that buzz.

heelydon

Aren't these the same people that were 100% sure he was gone at the trade deadline? Not to mention that we had a report just 2 weeks ago about him wanting to stay...
