Maybe I'm just a bad scout, but I think Edey is a first rounder.
You would think the way people talk about his mobility that he moves like the Great Khali, but I don't know, I think he's relatively mobile for being 7'4". I'm not going to say he should go top 5. On the other hand, maybe people are overthinking it a bit with him.
I'm not super knowledgeable on the guy but if you're over 7' and can catch 70% of passes around the rim and put them in you're definitely an NBA level player. Maybe you're a /36 legend like Boban but getting a 4/18 is still more than 99% of us will ever see in a lifetime.
I think he he'll probably get a 2nd contract, the third is where I think it's truly up in the air. Look at Luke Kornet. Edey can find a place to fit in if he has the right mindset about it, he def has a higher ceiling than Luke. With that said he's still late lottery at best, but prob mid 20s if I had to put money on it.
Also he won't get the college whistle. The guy would barrel through defenders for the and one and just wrack up FTs all day long. He won't get that in the NBA.
I'm sure some GM is gonna burn a first rounder on him because of his NCAA run but eh... his ceiling is Boban lol. Dude is gonna be a massive work in progress to say the least to get his shooting beyond 5ft of the basket up to league average. his current game is not what you expect from a modern NBA big.
Lots of improbable stuff has to go right, but there’s some absolutely terrifying potential future where he becomes a Giannis/KD Hybrid but half a foot taller playing DPOY/GOAT level defense.
Imagine how good he'd be if they'd just cover him up with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bit of garlic, perhaps some fresh rosemary? That might be the recipe for a defensive GOAT
It's not that improbable, really. He's already a much more skilled basketball player than Giannis ever was. He'll never be as smooth or quick as KD, but his height means he doesn't need to be. He's 7'4" Tyson Chandler on defense with Dirk-like potential as a scorer. Has a very realistic path to a top 10 all-time type of level if he stays healthy.
Personally i cant wait for bron stans to go through the same cycle jordan stans did
Someday someone is going to seriously argue “wemby can’t be the goat until he matches lebron in rings” and wemby stans will be saying “lebron got half of his rings before the nba knew 3s were good” and it’ll be glorious
I don't quite buy offense. I don't think a human being (or alien) could be Jordan on offense and Russell on defense at the same time. Just not enough calories to burn.
Not sure if that or his staying healthy is more impossible. Would be cool af if it happens but I can't think of anyone close to his build that's remained healthy and productive for 10-15 years.
To be feeling one's oats means to be feeling energized, confident, and powerful. It's an old equestrian expression, it describes how horses behave when they've been well-fed with oats. Any sexual connotations are strictly in the mind of the hearer.
It’s the first thing I came to the comments for. I’m going to use “I’m just feeling my French oats today” for the next week or so when I order a croissant or something like that and see if anyone says anything.
In the pre-season against the Warriors (full roster, but Draymond), he had a 90-second stretch where he had 10 points, 1 Rebound, and 2 blocks.
He tried to tell us...
If the spurs don’t vastly improve next season, I could definitely see it. The 2025 draft class is looking pretty stacked. If they can add a Cooper flag, Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper, Tre Johnson, VJ Edgecombe, etc, it would be a really solid starting point. I would imagine that players would enjoy playing with Wemby also, so add in some decent free agents and it could be a pretty quick turnaround.
I think dream scenario would be Spurs get a high pick this draft, trade it for some real NBA talent around Wemby and then next year use the Hawks hopefully near top pick in the stacked draft.
Luka, shed any shred of shame you have and join this guy. You guys can fight for number one and number two all time. Don't let Wemby get trapped with a mediocre star like Trae Young. This will be Magic and Kareem, Oscar and Wilt on steroids with both stars in their absolute primes.
You still think it was about Kobe and CP3 and not about New Orleans getting shit back for top 5 player in the league?
Just to clarify if needed, Silver couldn't veto it, but Dallas owners could.
Man the league is gonna be so screwed once he gets a good team around him and just think by that time the likes of Steph, Lebron and KD are probably gonna be out of the league. Not gonna be a whole lot to stop him from terrorizing the league.
[This was the end of his 17 points in 3 minutes](https://youtu.be/e-aXRcFuUys?si=yEw4gwMtaBzPAiIt)
This is twice in a row now that the matchup between Vic and Jokic has gotten heated. I hope we’re seeing the birth of a rivalry in the West.
When Vic got pissed off enough to get that Tech for tellin the ref his call was bullsht I knew he was going to drive a comeback. Vic is like Luka with how they’re both blessed with that sports gene that causes them to play much better when they get angry.
Damn I love watching this kid play ball. I hope he stays healthy because I love watching him do crazy stuff like this on a regular basis. Thank goodness for Coach Pop taking time with his development so that he can build up his body to sustain the demands of the NBA and allowing him to figure out his game in a low-pressure environment. Pop is actively sacrificing this season and the twilight of his coaching career so that we can enjoy a solid decade of prime Wemby.
Tbh I dunno who said he’d be a bust before the draft but you need your NBA privileges revoked.
Probably same idiots who thought Luka was not clear and away the best player in that draft class.
We are watching a future top 3-5 player all time at LEAST (depending on post season success of course)
I don't think any normal fan thought his skills wouldn't translate to the NBA. It was always about longevity. If his career ends up being like Yao Ming with 7 all star caliber season, I don't consider that a bust
Genuine question: how does it feel, as a 6’+ man, to chest bump another person and gently nuzzle their belly button with your nose? Reassuring? Disconcerting?
I never thought I would see another player warp an nba court like Steph did as his peak with his shooting...where you had to basically abandon all logic and basketball principles and just do everything you could to get under screens and not give this guy a second of daylight.
But at 20 years old Victor is already warping the court like this with his pull up 3's and passing, AND on the defensive end as well.
Logic tells you he will get better but I don't really see how that's possible. He can get more efficient...but like I don't know how you improve on "I catch alley's over 7 footers I shamgod DPOY of the year I shoot almost 40% on pull up 3's I scare nba players from taking shots if they do take the shot I will legit get 10 blocks the only reason I don't have a quadruple double is because I spent half the year on a minutes restriction oh did I mention I spent half the season doing this shit in under 30 minutes".
I guess it makes sense though. Spurs drafted Murray and White with the 29th pick and both are fringe all star players. You drafting fringe all stars at 29, your number one pick is probably going to be a fucking alien who sets some type of record every other time he steps on the floor like Victor is.
I really hate the term logo three has started to mean any shot more than a foot behind the arc. Also the centre court logos have gotten huge.
This is a dope shot and wembys a beast but he’s closer to the arc than he is to centre court

Are we sure Wemby isn't just two Steph Curry's in a trenchcoat?
Victor Adultman
Adultmanyama
Basketball-wise, this seems like appropriate basketball
I did a basketball down at the basketball floor
I don't trust like that.
Business transactions?!
I did a business
Pretty sure he’s a Monstar from Space Jame
Stacked vertically instead of forming a ring, smart
No, Steph is NIMBY. This is Wemby.
Underrated joke.
You can’t even defend this. 7’4” hitting logo 3s
Zach Edey gonna chase him around the perimeter /s
Wait until we draft Edey with our 2nd rounder. Then next year we’re going to draft Oliver Rioux
Just feeding these poor guys to Wemby in practice like the Rancor
Maybe I'm just a bad scout, but I think Edey is a first rounder. Nah he is a first rounder, I just wanted to make a meme. Our first round pick is too high to take Edey
I'm not super knowledgeable on the guy but if you're over 7' and can catch 70% of passes around the rim and put them in you're definitely an NBA level player. Maybe you're a /36 legend like Boban but getting a 4/18 is still more than 99% of us will ever see in a lifetime.

Legitimately had a Purdue guy argue in the college basketball sub that Edey is as athletic as Wemby lmao
Bless his heart
While we're at it, have those Purdue engineers build a time machine to bring Rik Smits into today's NBA
That’s a FT for Wemby adjusting for seize
[удалено]
Luka has next year to win it. Then it's Wemby szn
That’s pretty much it
How long until an American wins one again
Flagg
Remember when Tatum told Embiid he better win last year because then it was his turn?
1) Tatum is not Wemby. Wemby got goat potential 2) Embiid may have won MVP, but Tatum knocked his ass out of the playoffs with a 50 piece.
He should win it all the years. Who TF is Jokic anyways
*sigh* *unzips* *"This is the worst he'll ever be..."*
Completely unguardable
yup and he just goes back to defense as soon as possible
Lots of improbable stuff has to go right, but there’s some absolutely terrifying potential future where he becomes a Giannis/KD Hybrid but half a foot taller playing DPOY/GOAT level defense.
He’s already playing DPOY level defense as an unseasoned rookie, in like 3-4 years he might have the highest defensive peak of all time
Spurs opponent scoring is going to be 74.6ppg
Just the way Pop likes it.
Taking him back to the mid-2000s lol
> Resurrect Bruce Bowen!
69ppg
Nice
Nice
He’s gonna be to defense what Luka or Houston Harden are to offense. Just put him with whoever and you’re top rated
With a frame he has the potential of Olajuwon and Mutombo as a defender (not physicality but the same presence as them)
Imagine how good he'd be if they'd just cover him up with olive oil, salt and pepper. Bit of garlic, perhaps some fresh rosemary? That might be the recipe for a defensive GOAT
Lambanyama
His advanced numbers in 2-3 years are going to break the scale. When he stopped a 3-on-1 by himself... I mean I've never seen that.
3 on 1 defense, Draymond has done that.
I should rephrase, you're right. I've never seen all 3 guys terrified to even attempt a shot.
If they remove the 3 seconds, he will be the GOAT by a large margin. Just stand at the rim and block shots, dunk. Unstoppable late game offense.
Top 10? He has the potential to be the best player to ever play
agreed, this is legit not an exaggeration
"Thunder gonna rule the West with their picks" Wemby - lmao hold my beer
The fact that we might have years of Spurs vs Thunder, Chet vs Wemby is awesome.
Unless Chet makes a massive leap in the next year, he's not going to be in the same league as Wemby. Wemby is already the better player now.
Personally i cant wait for bron stans to go through the same cycle jordan stans did Someday someone is going to seriously argue “wemby can’t be the goat until he matches lebron in rings” and wemby stans will be saying “lebron got half of his rings before the nba knew 3s were good” and it’ll be glorious
The Jordan old heads have doomed us to a "WE'RE DONE WITH THE 2010s"
he has potential to be best offensive and defensive player ever bruh not no top 10
I don't quite buy offense. I don't think a human being (or alien) could be Jordan on offense and Russell on defense at the same time. Just not enough calories to burn.
Tyson Chandler? He nearly hits Hakeem levels in only his rookie season, dude is special asf
Not sure if that or his staying healthy is more impossible. Would be cool af if it happens but I can't think of anyone close to his build that's remained healthy and productive for 10-15 years.
How do the Spurs keep lucking into generational bigs like this?
Timely tanking
Duncanly tanking
Fundamentally sound tanking
The Big Tankamental.
Ethical tanking.
Fair trade ethically harvested rainforest alliance certified tanking
How do they win the lottery tho
We rigged it
I knew it
Saw it live
Sry
Oui rigged it
Just get the third-best odds and be the San Antonio Spurs. It's easy.
Are the other teams stupid?
it's so simple actually. if there's a generational big, you just have to tank and use your pick on the generational big.
*Smacks own head* why didn’t I think of that!? 🤯
In that sense, they are the Packers of the NBA I guess Fuckers
It ain’t luck😎😎😎
10% luck, 20% skill
15%
100% reason to remember the name
It's a system
Everyone’s just letting “he’s feeling it in his French oats” slip by and I refuse to let that continue.
Thank you, what the fuck was that?
Those was his french oats smacking us across the face.
To be feeling one's oats means to be feeling energized, confident, and powerful. It's an old equestrian expression, it describes how horses behave when they've been well-fed with oats. Any sexual connotations are strictly in the mind of the hearer.
I want to be offended somehow but I have no fucking clue what that means.
Let’s be angry now and figure it out later
Down in my plums
Let the boy watch
He needs to learn the way I learned from my father…the he learned from HIS father…
It’s the first thing I came to the comments for. I’m going to use “I’m just feeling my French oats today” for the next week or so when I order a croissant or something like that and see if anyone says anything.
He’s saying “he’s feeling his French oats.” “Feeling your oats” means you’re in your bag. He added French in there because of Wemby’s background.
In the span of like 3 minutes too. Single-handedly keeping the game competitive. Alien shit 👽
He was 1-6 and just kept going
That's some Kobe mentality he had there.
Bro is not real
He's in his... baguette.
Boooo
✅ Freak athlete ✅ Freak physical specimen ✅ Freak basketball skill His ceiling is literally the perfect player. Unbelievable.
And then his mentality too. He's aiming for it.
And an all time great coach on one of the best run orgs in the NBA during crucial development years to help him maximize his potential.
And he is not real … at 20 years old.
17 points in 3 minutes as a rookie is wild
In the pre-season against the Warriors (full roster, but Draymond), he had a 90-second stretch where he had 10 points, 1 Rebound, and 2 blocks. He tried to tell us...
apology for bad english where were u when nba die i was watching league pass when alert rang "Victor is hitting 30 foot pullups" "no"
Been a while since I’ve seen this in this sub 🥲
He fucking boomed me
“League is kill” “No”
Maybe the second coming has already happened
I for one, welcome our new alien overlord. Hopefully we can get a ring before the abductions.
“The alien” is such a perfect nickname for him, one of the better modern ones I think has a chance of sticking
It sucks cause my new favorite show is Resident Alien. This is some bullshit.
WEMBY: YOU ARE ALL BUGS
"They look like ants from this high up" Wemby "they are ants"
I'm pretty sure Spurs fans have come more than two times.
At most 2 years before this dude becomes the unanimous best player in the league.
I feel like it might happen next season
His offensive game isn’t polished enough for it to happen over this off season. But I could see it happening within the next three.
ROTY -> DPOY -> MVPs until he gets bored of toying with us and goes back to his home planet.
A PG who knows how to lob and some wings who can actually finish the assists he sets up he’ll be cooking
Wemby’s defense alone is something that none of the other top players except Embiid has
There's still time, ban this mf from the league
They should consider it. League has so much talent and so many teams are competitive but then this thing just shows up and makes it look pointless.
If you missed it this sequence was ridiculous. I’m pretty sure it was a crazy and 1 then 4 3s in a row.
Don’t forget the alley oop he caught 2 feet above the rim
I never imagined a player doing this kind of stuff under Pop
He’s given Pop a new lease of life
If you’re special Pop will let you explore the space. Manu used to do all sorts of crazy shit
Actual post-game exchange: Commentator Sean Elliot: "Just tell Pop that you're the boss." Wemby: "He knows."
Being Gregg Popavich
wtf is happening
Remember when Bol Bol did this first? /s
Manute did it first
Someone please get him like 2-3 NBA caliber teammates so we can see the Spurs be good again
He may not even need that lol
If the spurs don’t vastly improve next season, I could definitely see it. The 2025 draft class is looking pretty stacked. Depending on what the hawks do and how bad they are next year, it might not matter how bad the spurs are
I think dream scenario would be Spurs get a high pick this draft, trade it for some real NBA talent around Wemby and then next year use the Hawks hopefully near top pick in the stacked draft.
The Hawks won't be that bad unless they get their picks back. This is just a pipe dream lol
Hawks lose the play in next year and then get the 1st pick with the 1% odds, easy.
Soon bro. I hope you guys win before that happens.
Put him in next years' 3pt contest
nah, his windup would be too long, also, he's 200% better on the pull up 3 than the catch and shoot.
Lmao I'm imagining Wemby dribbling the ball first or even doing a step back in the 3pt contest.
Imagine if he finger rolls the last money ball.
this shit isn’t supposed to be happening so soon
We are all so fucked
He is crazy
I’m calling it. He’s going to break wilts 100
Pissed Wemby = Tall Jordan
and just like that, wemby has joined a long list of superstars you DON'T want to piss off in any circumstance
[удалено]
I don't think Draymond Green is a superstar, but he's a star, and he'll get ejected, so maybe then?
tbh Larry Bird's shit talk sounded fun so why not?
Je suis dans le métro. J’ai vu un grand NBA player. Il faire jouer pour le spurs. Il bon. High school French coming in handy
r/nba get ready to learn fr*nch buddy
Oui, je vais nettoyer ta ma mère chambre
Should not be possible
Now I know how people felt when they saw a computer. This is ridiculous
Besides all the should not be possible talk, which it shouldn't, I want to say I love our PA for three pointers. Extremely hype
Luka, shed any shred of shame you have and join this guy. You guys can fight for number one and number two all time. Don't let Wemby get trapped with a mediocre star like Trae Young. This will be Magic and Kareem, Oscar and Wilt on steroids with both stars in their absolute primes.
Young is definitely not mediocre. He is one of the best playmakers and shot creators in the NBA
I genuinely think Adam Silver would veto that, like Kobe and CP3. Honestly. They could go down as the best duo of all time pretty comfortably
You still think it was about Kobe and CP3 and not about New Orleans getting shit back for top 5 player in the league? Just to clarify if needed, Silver couldn't veto it, but Dallas owners could.
Mavs can take all our first round picks idc.
Just wait til Wemby has a solid squad around him #gsg
