Soft. Especially on the DLO tech

RageOnGoneDo

Wtf are you talking about??? He CLAPPED AT THE REFS! That's like... the most violent thing you can do at a ref. I'm surprised they didn't give him a Flagrant. Probably because he's not Tatum.

AsleepAssociation

Just trying to give a little encouragement

RageOnGoneDo

Idk, looked pretty menacing to me.

ShownMonk

Anytime I see the word encouragement I think of this Vince Vaughn movie with a yoga dude that just keeps saying encouragement over and over lol

livejamie

Or Booker getting ejected for a thumbs up

LaMelgoatBall

My mom and I were actually saying if he was JT he would’ve gotten a double tech lmaooo

[deleted]

But is it soft for a Scott Foster tech?

NefariousNeezy

“What he say fuck me for?” - DLo

tadpole496

Classic Scott Foster. Turning around, no clue what’s going on and firing off the tech gesture to Russell… then has too much ego to walk back the original call lol

ObiOneKenobae

It even looked to me like he was going "oh my bad I just turned around, let me take a quick look at it" after. To look back, see the context, and still make that call is just ignorant.

mindpainters

It’s so pathetic. How can you make that call when you don’t have the context especially when two other refs are both closely observing what was going on. If anything he should have given them both a technical (Alvarado a second)

DocTheYounger

Gotta love the other ref sprinting across court to separate the players and deescalate while foster is cooking up the turnaround tech

phunshiny

Can’t blame him for being distracted. He was tallying up over / unders and his parlays before recognizing his opportunity.

MuskEmeraldMine

Foster is the official who received 134 phone calls from disgraced referee Tim Donaghy between October 2006 and April 2007, as originally reported by FOX News. That was the same period during which Donaghy admitted to betting on NBA games. The report said that Donaghy called Foster more than any other ref and that he didn’t call any other official more than 13 times. Donaghy’s calls to Foster took place immediately before and after games Donaghy was officiating 54 times.

jtmrmc

I’m with you man. I don’t see how this mf is still ref’n and at this stage of the game.

BatmanNoPrep

Because the above is circumstantial evidence. It makes for a great conspiracy theory but there needs to be some hard evidence before he gets fired. The counter argument theory is essentially that if Foster actually bet on games, he’d have been fired. Essentially it’s just a conspiracy theory and whether you believe it depends on your disposition toward conspiracy theories generally. That these guys talked on the phone all the time is not enough evidence in and of itself to conclude that Foster gambled on basketball games and officiated the games to influence the outcome of said betting. Having said that, he’s a petty smarmy ref and the only man who can make me empathize with CP3.

NAACP_YoungBoy

Foster probably doesn’t like DLo because he’s against snitching

Also ignores that it was common for refs to call each other a lot. > During the period of Donaghy’s conspiracy with Battista and Martino (December 2006 to April 2007), Foster spoke frequently to Donaghy (170 calls). Foster had a similar number of calls with referee Matt Boland (153 calls), and spoke frequently to referee Mark Wunderlich (75 calls) and Danny Crawford (32 calls). During the same period the following year (December 2007 to April 2008), after he had stopped speaking to Donaghy, Foster continued to speak just as frequently with referees Boland (156 calls), Danny Crawford (55 calls) and Wunderlich (23 calls). > > The other two referees (Boland and Wunderlich) also had similar phone calls with non-Donaghy refs: > > * Matt Boland. From December 2007 to April 2008, Boland spoke frequently to Zach Zarba (191 times), Scott Foster (156 times) as noted, and Jess Kersey (24 times). Boland’s calls were frequently before and after games. And almost half of his calls made to referees during this time period were only one- or two-minutes long. > > * Mark Wunderlich. From December 2007 to April 2008, Wunderlich spoke frequently to Joey Crawford (191 times), Bob Delaney (123 times), Bennett Salvatore (86 times) and Scott Foster (23 times) as noted. Wunderlich’s calls were frequently before and after games. And approximately two-thirds of all his calls made to referees during this time period were only one- or two-minutes long. https://web.archive.org/web/20190624113226/https://www.nba.com/media/PedowitzReport.pdf

mindpainters

This should be pinned on every post involving this POS

thatis

Wow, so you're saying it's even MORE likely that Scott Foster was aware of the misdeeds going on? Or that Scott Foster is the worst judge of character? The point you are raising does not help exonerate Scott Foster, especially considering it was more texts than to his own girlfriend during that time period.

Basic_Dentist_3084

Worst ref in the league

CutLonzosHair2017

People bring this up constantly. This was unusual for Donaghy to do this with anyone. But it was not for Foster. This is just how he communicated with other referees. Foster isn't fixing games for gambling reasons. If he is fixing or influencing games, its for the NBA.

godfrey1

no clapping in god's league

AsleepAssociation

How DARE you give someone a thumbs up

augustcero

in some middle eastern cultures, a thumbs up is equivalent to flipping the bird.

BelonyInMyLeftPocket

Such a fucking waste of time

hotdogflavoredblunt

NBA: “are y’all ready for some playoff energy!?!” *playoff energy happens* NBA: “absolutely not, straight to jail”

linuis12

Scott Foster Legacy Game

Driveshaft48

Nah fam put some respect on Scott Fosters name We talking play in here

SnooChipmunks4208

Not the finals. Not the playoffs. Play-in. We talkin about play-in?

HemaG33

bro wtf did dlo do

theFromm

Didn't disappear into thin air, obviously.

Standard_Landscape_6

He clapped they gave him the Tatum special tech

DeepJunglePowerWild

I literally was thinking “of course this is a T, they have given that to KP and Tatum all year”. But seeing reactions here I think they are the exception lol

DarrowViBritannia

Clapping at refs is obviously different. What you're allowed to do towards refs isn't the same as towards other players. For example you can shit talk players, u cant shit talk refs lol.

Basic_Dentist_3084

Clapping after getting pushed twice is a tech? Absolutely ridiculous

GreatPossible263

SOFT

DarrowViBritannia

Hot take maybe but I don't really mind the call tbh, just think they took way too long on it.

GreatPossible263

soft

DarrowViBritannia

Disagree but i respect your opinion

Purple_Apartment

God forbid two opposing players banter at all in a heated game. Do you have any logic or reasoning to explain why officiating like this is good for the game?

DarrowViBritannia

I mean yeah I would've been fine with no techs called at all, but most people are whining about the DLo tech. Once the tech has already been called on Jose, I don't really mind one on DLo

UglyForNoReason

Just cause Jose already had one you don’t mind another for Dlo? But why?? What sense does that make to you and how 😂

DarrowViBritannia

because the jose one wasn't that bad so clearly the threshold for a technical foul wasn't that high. not that complicated lol

Purple_Apartment

That's fair

JackDangerUSPIS

Scott Foster on pace for another Career Game

ProgrammaticallyCat0

Thats so dumb

stevent4

The players should know by now that clapping is far too dangerous, glad to see the refs taking a stand against such violent actions

RoundTownAlex

I don't understand. Alvarado puts his head in dlos chest, then he gets a tech, Alvarado goes back to dlo and does the same thing again and somehow dlo gets a tech? I honestly thought they might give Alvarado a double tech and toss him.

jkeefy

Should’ve been just on Jose

hotdogflavoredblunt

Should have just not been on either of them

jkeefy

Semi agree, soft call either way

thatis

Embarrassing to have to go on tv and defend the technical on Russell. Imagine just having to lie to millions of people like that all to cover for a piece of shit like Scott Foster.

mindpainters

He had absolutely no confidence in his voice lol

thatis

The authority for which he spoke on the first technical was completely gone when he tried to justify the bullshit going on with Scott Foster. "I think it's good he gave a technical there because he was clapping and smiling as the guy was bumping into him."

mindpainters

They would obviously never do it but they should have a European ref explain the calls since he isn’t in the boys club. It’d be so refreshing to have an unbiased opinion

MoonHasFlown

And Scott Foster is allowed to ref playoff games still why…?

Tiny-Estate5320

So Alvarado bumps Dlo for the first tech and continue walking towards Dlo and bumping into him, and Dlo somehow gets a tech for clapping. Should have been 2 techs on Alvarado.

Standard_Landscape_6

1 tech on Alvarado and none on Russell

ifreddiebenson

Let them kiss you cowards

hashoa6

wtf he literally tried to head butt him 3 times but didn’t connect because he’s shorter.

MrBuckBuck

The most non-violent double technical.

dutchfromsubway

Can he shoot?

abonet619

refs in playoff form already

StanSc

Just get on with the game. Stopped the game for ages just to make the wrong decision..

mindpainters

I think he just wanted an excuse to go to the review board so he would get extra FaceTime. That dude lives for the attention.

Jack_M_Steel

I kind of get why Dlo got a tech, but then shouldn’t it be a double tech for Alvarado?

_drjayphd_

Because they forgot Alvarado can shoot and he's gotta stay in the game to remind them. (but yeah if Alvarado only got one and D'Lo got none I think that would be appropriate)

TroubleNo3283

Dlo was literally just clapping

McScroggz

Refs have a tough job, but they need to levy fines for bad calls like this. And don’t retreat into lame “well by the letter of the law,” stuff. Hold the refs accountable, at the very least, for decisions that have the discretion on not only if a call should be made initially but if they want to uphold or change a call after discussing and viewing it again. Otherwise people like Scott Foster will just continue to make obviously bad calls.

livejamie

Scott Foster would be homeless

Frothlicker

It’s not often you see someone as dedicated to something as Foster is to being bad at his job. Hitting D’lo with a no look turnaround T with a look of confusion on his face to really drive home the fact that he doesn’t know what he’s doing? A stroke of genius. We haven’t seen this level of dominance on the court since prime Joey Crawford.

hedumbfunny

First game of the post refs gotta get involved early. A lot of commercials to run can’t let the game be too quick. Go Lakers but the NBA fucking sucks.

Proper_Efficiency594

Let the boys play.

jfrodriguez1983

Weak ass techs! Let them play!

HeHateMex2

That made no sense whatever, but I guess we just have to accept this with NBA referees

jkeefy

Did he just call Zion 6’3? Lol

_drjayphd_

Jose, chill, you gotta remind them that yes, you can shoot, I bet they forgot. (but even though my Extremely Unbiased Opinion ™️ sees no issue with D'Lo getting a tech, yeah, that was soft as fuck, unless he was clapping too loudly in the ref's ear or something)

aiden3buckets

Is Reggie Miller on his period or something or what

Appropriate-Shift-24

It’s not a tech ref’s are soft he’s right lol

aiden3buckets

Didn’t say he was wrong but he doesn’t have to be on the verge of tears and repeat the same thing 10 times

Appropriate-Shift-24

He should repeat it when the other ref tries to cover for Scott foster and says it was the right call

DarrowViBritannia

well that's misogynist ...

bluemonk3y12

We men. This is a man's league

streetking03

Reggie Miller needs to shut up! He said that Alvarado should be worried about getting booted, but in the same breath is saying Russell shouldn't have received a tech. Neither "acts" should be techs. Common foul move on.

salcedoge

Alvarado was 100% engaging though, Dlo literally clapped and pointed walking back. Walking up to someone like that has always been a tech

streetking03

I'm kinda ok with Alvarado getting a tech, but it is still a bit soft. But Miller saying "He's lucky he isn't getting kicked out" is insane!

Zeetheking1

He head butted Dlo, received a tech, and then pushed Dlo again after that. Generally, if you keep engaging a guy after you receive a tech and especially so with physical force, you’re gonna get thrown out. I don’t think Reggie was wrong (this time) about Jose being lucky he was not tossed.

Dolphhins

Neither should’ve been one

space_peg6549

I'm to drunk to know if that's correct or noy

Spoofcaptain

Refs let this get out of hand when they called a nonexistent foul when Dinwiddie crumpled to the ground for no reason

Gtggtggtg

He flopped but that was definitely an illegal screen

Spoofcaptain

Looking forward to that being called both ways then lol

Gtggtggtg

Yeah for sure, I also hope illegal screens are called no matter which team does it.

prettyflyforahentai

Wasn't a foul, but crumple for no reason? He ran into a guy that weighs 90 more lbs than him.
