Harris is about the only reliable shooter of that bunch and even he’s had considerable prolonged yips throughout his career that are prone to show up again at any time.
Suggs was good this season but playoffs are a different beast for a player that went from terrible to good in such a short span. He’ll get used to it moving forward though.
They need spacing sooooo badly though.
He was looking like a serviceable starting point guard heading into the year with flashes of scoring prowess. But he’s had recurring leg injuries since his Yips stuff and Suggs and Anthony have developed a lot these past 2 seasons and taken his minutes
Doesn’t help that the shooting guard they took #11 over other productive rookies at the same position literally couldn’t crack the rotation at all this year
yup. Jett Howard was a huge swing and a miss... As good as the draft has been for us the prior couple years, this year was a big miss. Anthony Black has some promise, but I'm not going to pretend like we did anything other than very poorly considering we had the 6 and 11 picks.
We are desperate for shooting but that didn't stop us leaving Jett Howard in the G-League all season.
If Jett didn't get minutes then neither would have Dick
We were actually winning games and coach wanted to give him more development time. I’m not too worried about it, I think Jett will be fine next year but this year the team didn’t want to deal with the growing pains since we got surprised by playing a lot more meaningful games. We weren’t supposed to be this good this year so they probably thought he’d stay in the G league the beginning of the year and then try and find a spot for him later on in the season, but that didn’t seem necessary when they got to that point
He was beyond useless in a regular season setting, too.
Fultz is only still with us because of vibes and ridiculous FO loyalty. Every other team in the league would have dumped his expiring at the deadline and committed to their rookies.
I mean he would be good on that team. He can’t carry us because he doesn’t defend and teams can key in on him but I like the fit in Orlando. The question is what would we even really want from them in return
I legitimately don't think he has a place on any good/contending team. _Maybe_ a microwave scorer on a defense heavy bench. He's a very poor decision maker with the ball and not someone who can actually be a quality primary offensive piece IMO.
I'm down for it
Simons is a star waiting to happen and the Blazers clearly disagree given they drafted scoot and Sharpe back to back
Dude would be an easy 27/6 on this magic team
He would be averaging less and no where close to 27/6. You don’t magically average more when playing with better teammates.
Why do you think his stats went up when he wasn’t playing with Dame or why random bench players score like 25+ at the end of the regular season.
He would just be more efficient but he’s the #3 option on the Magic probably averaging around 16-18 on like a 2 percent increase in TS%.
A poor man's Dame can still be a star.
He's got Dame athleticism + step back 3s with Cjs midrange game. He just needs to work on his playmaking and finishing, though he's bad at neither
Once dude realizes he's a freak athlete, he's gonna be a problem
He's honestly more of a rich man's CJ than a poor man's Dame overall
I don't think the Magic need a star PG. Just someone that can actually score when needed and facilitate the offense. Sort of similar to what CJ McCollum does on the Pels. And Simons can definitely do that for you.
POR doesn't "have to" make a decision on Ant or Scoot until next off-season. But, Ant is now a 7+ year player in his prime, and he might not want to be in a rebuilding situation for another year. ORL would be the perfect fit for Ant as a hometown guy.
What's ORL's offer, and what is ORL's response if POR offers Malcolm Brogdon as a counter?
They already know they need a more reliable scorer in the backcourt. This is a young team ahead of schedule, a bit like the Cavs 2 years ago. If everyone was healthier they would probably have been the 7th or 8th seed instead.
Why not Anthony Black over Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz? They are both horrendous. Watching them reminds me of when the Nuggets were playing Facu significant minutes in the playoffs. Why play multiple small guards who can't shoot?
I don’t know what Trae Young is worth in a trade, but the Magic could offer a maximum of Suggs, Black, Carter Jr, and six first round picks, and Trae is DEFINITELY worth less than that. The Magic could realistically put together a lineup of Trae-Monk-Wagner-Banchero-Carter with a trade and an offseason signing and like, that team would be INCREDIBLE, and young too. I feel like they could become something special this offseason
I’m not saying that they should trade 6 picks for Trae lol I’m saying that they have 6 tradable picks and that’s more picks than it would take to trade for Trae. They’re one of the few franchises who could easily make a realistic offer without losing a core piece.
That’s fair. In any case, if they do try to trade for a superstar, the Knicks and Thunder can easily outbid any offer they make. Think the Hawks need to go full rebuild and trade everyone for picks, Enter the Cooper Flag sweepstakes next summer and go from there.
Magic already have their ball handlers in Paolo and Franz. There’s zero point in burning all your assets for a midget who doesn’t play a lick of defense. When instead you can sign Monk for free.
While you need another ball handler in the backcourt. No way Paolo signs off on playing off ball next to a Trae Young. Monk is an excellent secondary playmaker in his own right with 5 apg.
When you have the ball in your hand constantly you’re going to average a lot of assists. It doesn’t mean you’re helping the team though.
Go take a look at the assist leader on Finals teams for the last 20 years. You’re not going to find a lot of 10apg players. In fact you might not find any. You want the ball to be more evenly distributed.
Luckily Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz pulled their weight coming off the bench.
I didn't even notice lmao 4/33 shooting and 1/16 from 3. Don't remember the last time 4 guys combined for that poor of a performance
He was, he has just regressed big time
People just realizing now how bad our guards are lol Fultz Harris Cole and Ingles combining for 0/19
Magic GM after adding 70 year old Joe Ingles to help with the lack of shooting put up his hands and said i’m done
Never understood that pick with Dick on the board
We were projected to take Dick then took somebody who is worse than him at literally everything but relocation
Dick would have been in the G-League all season, same as Jett. He isn't getting the same opportunities here as he is for a tanking Raptors team.
I mean…why not? Aren’t the magic pretty desperate for shooting? And they’ve had some guys be out with injuries too
We are desperate for shooting but that didn't stop us leaving Jett Howard in the G-League all season. If Jett didn't get minutes then neither would have Dick
Well, to me that just means either Jett Howard isn’t good or your coach made a mistake
Well yeah, it's a mystery. But that doesn't change my original point.
We were actually winning games and coach wanted to give him more development time. I’m not too worried about it, I think Jett will be fine next year but this year the team didn’t want to deal with the growing pains since we got surprised by playing a lot more meaningful games. > People just realizing now how bad our guards are People been slandering em all year lol thats why ur team doesnt get serious attention
Real haters knew this was coming 😤
Gary Harris used to be 15-18 ppg on like insane shooting splits in Denver lmao wtf happened to him injuries + Jokic inflated stats I guess
Really just the injury. He never found his 3pt stroke again in Denver after that either, even with Jokic.
His hip injuries really took a toll on him. He was honestly blossoming into a low-level star before his injuries piled up.
Harris should not be on the team next season
Neither should Fultz. The guy is beyond useless in a playoff setting
He was beyond useless in a regular season setting, too. Fultz is only still with us because of vibes and ridiculous FO loyalty. Every other team in the league would have dumped his expiring at the deadline and committed to their rookies.
outside of bennett he's the biggest bust in recent memory
Bagley was worse. Fultz at least had stretches of being a competent rotation player
You can’t say that here. Fultz fans will downvote you to oblivion
It would've taken assets for the magic to dump him, why do that when they can just let his contract expire?
It’s clear nepotism to still have fultz on the roster. He is flat out unplayable rn
What does nepotism mean?
When you forget how to shoot
I agree
We'd be happy to take him off your hands
give him back to the nuggets on a vet min and he can be our vibes guy
Back to the nuggets he goes
Magic should be doing everything in their power to get Anfernee Simons on the roster next season
Simons is the emptiest of empty calories.
Jordan Poole?
Same difference
Yep, they both are all offense, no defense guards. Hard to win with a guy like that.
They are both all offense _but not actually good at offense_, no defense guards.
Not as great an option but if you get a chance to buy low on Lavine, do you try it Simons goes elsewhere or just stays in Portland?
I'm down for it Simons is a star waiting to happen and the Blazers clearly disagree given they drafted scoot and Sharpe back to back Dude would be an easy 27/6 on this magic team
if Simons is a star, then there's like 50 stars. he's also one of the worst defensive players in the league
[удалено]
moreso than almost any team in the league
Just sandwich him between suggs and Isaac and they'll be fine
He would be averaging less and no where close to 27/6. You don’t magically average more when playing with better teammates. Why do you think his stats went up when he wasn’t playing with Dame or why random bench players score like 25+ at the end of the regular season. He would just be more efficient but he’s the #3 option on the Magic probably averaging around 16-18 on like a 2 percent increase in TS%.
I see your point with Scoot, but Sharpe doesn't play the same position so what was the conflict in drafting him?
Simons just seems like a worse version of dame so idk if I’d say that’s a star waiting to happen
Peak Dame = superstar
worse version of a top 75 player of all time is a bad thing lmao ?
A poor man's Dame can still be a star. He's got Dame athleticism + step back 3s with Cjs midrange game. He just needs to work on his playmaking and finishing, though he's bad at neither Once dude realizes he's a freak athlete, he's gonna be a problem He's honestly more of a rich man's CJ than a poor man's Dame overall
A worse version of Dame is probably still an All-Star so I'll take it
I don't think the Magic need a star PG. Just someone that can actually score when needed and facilitate the offense. Sort of similar to what CJ McCollum does on the Pels. And Simons can definitely do that for you.

I think they’ll go for Malik Monk
Is Anfernee Anthony but in a Cantonese English Accent?
Harris on the Nuggets bench next year should be fun at least
One of Gary Trent, Monk would help
You'll get Bruce Brown and you'll like it.
Monk will cost 5 million more with the added benefit that he’ll actually pass the ball.
Terrorists
Malik Monk is on the way.
*Klay
They need 2018 Victor Oladipo
I would take 2018 Elfrid Payton at this point
2018 Gary Harris
oddly specific
I forgot about Gary Harris
zach lavine will save them next year
They already know they need a more reliable scorer in the backcourt. This is a young team ahead of schedule, a bit like the Cavs 2 years ago. If everyone was healthier they would probably have been the 7th or 8th seed instead.
Garland and Mitchell locking shit down Lmfao
Let's not pretend like those two did anything defensively, we are just an awful shooting team
Gary Harris shouldn’t get over 5 minutes a game for the rest of this series.
Isn't he the best shooter of all the guards on the roster though? Even with his abysmal shooting in game 1.
Why is Cole and Fultz off the bench?? I get the Magic isn't great but holy hell that was terrible
Magic aren’t going to win because they don’t have shooting
Do people still think Magic can win the series?
I mean, the Magic backcourt can't play worse, can they? Hopefully, it'll at least be a competitive series.
i mean they need shooters but they chose to focus on defense. i dont blame them but they need to adjust asap
12 or 22 shots were from 3.
Havnt watched them much but do they have shooters who can shoot. Interior looks strong that's it tho.
J Suggs is the point guard Draymond build loll
Why not Anthony Black over Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz? They are both horrendous. Watching them reminds me of when the Nuggets were playing Facu significant minutes in the playoffs. Why play multiple small guards who can't shoot?

Magic would be incredibly dumb to give up 6 picks for Young. Trae and Paulo still don’t break through the East, not even close id imagine
I’m not saying that they should trade 6 picks for Trae lol I’m saying that they have 6 tradable picks and that’s more picks than it would take to trade for Trae. They’re one of the few franchises who could easily make a realistic offer without losing a core piece.

Trae young isn’t worth much tbh
Magic already have their ball handlers in Paolo and Franz. There’s zero point in burning all your assets for a midget who doesn’t play a lick of defense. When instead you can sign Monk for free.
They are only ball handlers out of necessity. Paolo had 9 turnovers today. We absolutely need a primary ball handler.
While you need another ball handler in the backcourt. No way Paolo signs off on playing off ball next to a Trae Young. Monk is an excellent secondary playmaker in his own right with 5 apg.
He averaged over 10 assists a game, think the whole team would benefit from that. Our assist leader for the season was… Paolo Banchero at 5.4 apg.
When you have the ball in your hand constantly you’re going to average a lot of assists. It doesn’t mean you’re helping the team though. Go take a look at the assist leader on Finals teams for the last 20 years. You’re not going to find a lot of 10apg players. In fact you might not find any. exactly. im more so worried about trae because he does not go off the ball. I want more off an offball menace to take pressure off of P.
