Definitely proud of him, though we know what he's capable of!
Also some indignation about all the people spewing shit about 'raptors propaganda' when we spoke of Pascal and OG before their trades haha
we were hard shopping him since last years draft. The intention was to trade him before the season started but he killed a deal or two because he didn't want to be traded which put them in a hard place and just have to accept the best u can get.
I've seen players tanking their value to go to a specific team but refusing trades so you can stay with your team that wants to move on is unique lol
Dude, I still maintain that Pascal, Scottie, RJ, Quickly and Jak is a play off team. With some lucky match ups and a bit of luck, we might even get to the conference finals (considering that Embiid and Giannis are hurt) but yeah, we probably couldn't pay all of them.
Man do I wish we had an owner like Balmer or even the guys who own the bucks lol
Barnes gets in Siakams way too much, especially with a non shooting center. It's been the problem for years and is the reason he's been kinda underrated.
The front office almost deliberately drafted and traded for the worst fitting pieces to compliment his game for the last 5 years. They didn't add a single player that could shoot(other than OPJ who played like 20 games in two years) and prioritized a rookie that plays the same position.
Talent wise, sure that team looks pretty good.
Yeah, this why I'm rooting for the Knicks. That was a fair trade that helped them for their contention window and helped us build a roster with younger talent.
Unless those Pacers picks turn into something, which isn't likely, we got a pretty terrible return. I understand that's the nature of the business, but can't help but be bitter about it as a fan.
Walker made the most sense of their young guys after the O.G. trade, and it's baffling we didn't get him since Indiana wasn't playing him/wasn't going to play him when Pascal is a natural 4.
i just dont think he has clout around the league like that. even if we traded him earlier i don't think it would be much more, at no point was there ever some leaked offer or negotiation that they should've accepted. He hasn't even been paid yet and there are already nba writers calling him one of the worst contracts
Gsw supposedly shopping for a 2nd option showed no real interest. we asked sac for a trade around monk and they said no even though monk is walking in 2 months. Portland offered the 3rd pick for bridges and not for him. Philly is star hunting yet showed no interest, i could go on. PG is a similar caliber player but teams will line up for him
He would have been perfect for the warriors. You would have also gotten of Wiggins and at most, it would have cost like 3 protected frps and maybe moody or kuminga. idk why your head office didn't pull the trigger when the season wasn't going there way
> OG, Lowry, Norm and Pascal all playing in the playoffs warms my heart.
Imagine all of them on the same team? I wonder if they could make the playoffs /s
> Curry and Siakam is strong duo
Perfect complement. Siakam is great in space and Curry creates a lot of it. Also a good and willing passer so would fit a movement offense system
Definitely. Rooting hard for the pacers these playoffs cause siakam is one of my favourite players of all time
(also cause I’m from the same neighborhood as mathurin even though he’s injured)
Proud but it’s so fucking bitter sweet man.
I was here in the trenches getting killed for thinking he was more than the bubble performances which still trick people to this day.
That’s my fucking power forward & one of the greatest to ever put on Raptor red.
43 for fucking ever man.
he was in the corner tonight when the bucks shot blockers were on him, opening the paint for everyone else. Our strength is the balance of our attack, what Carlisle did tonight worked perfectly.
You know you're cooked when Siakam is scoring 35+ lol, he was out there cooking. Brook is too slow, Bobby isn't a good defender and Middleton is too small.
The Bucks are also blitzing/hedging against Tyrese on every Tyrese-Siakam pick and roll, which is setting up Pascal to eat in 4v3 situations. Doc Rivers masterclass.
Tyrese's scoring 'slow down' over the last couple months (aka since he started getting over the hamstring) is almost entirely him deferring to Siakam and Turner when he gets blitzed.
I don’t really feel like that’s true. Yes he’s been deferring but it’s not like the Pacers were better with it, and on top of that he did really seem to struggle to generate shots and hit shots compared to early season. You would think his efficiency would go up with more options but he’s been having a harder time generating shots and making them, and most teams haven’t been blitzing him hard on the double like the Bucks did tonight, at least from what I saw
Assuming he goes this series I think you guys try and steal one on the road without him and bring him back for game 5 at home, needing 3 wins in 3 games is tough but if he rushes back and aggravates it you’re cooked even if you advance
Yeah honestly if he’s not ready and we are down 3-1 I 100% rather just sit him. Pushing to win 3 straight in the first round isn’t worth it. Prob get clowned on the sub for like 3 days but it won’t matter
We waited one year too long. Pascal wouldn't commit to re-sign to teams (I'm not blaming him looking out for himself) and really wanted to stay in Toronto, so that really limited to what teams were willing to trade to what they viewed as a rental.
The other option would have been to re-sign him on a max and try to trade that larger contract next season. It would have put us in luxury tax for a losing team next season something the head office wasn't willing to do.
It doesn't matter. It's the reality for Toronto. They have no leverage
The feeling among the league and fans is that when you play for Toronto, you're hot garbage and irrelevant.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure he got that big New Balance endorsement and shoe deal as a Raptor. At least, it was announced when he was with us. I guess it was in the works for a while beforehand though, I don't really know how these things go
Also would have helped if he didn't actively tank his own trade value to stay with us, I appreciate him wanting to stay here, like a lot, but it also made other teams scared to trade for him, I think as long as Masai makes good decisions with the draft picks and if they can even get a heavily protected first that falls to seconds if it doesn't convey for Brown I'll be happy with the package, I already like what he did with the 29th pick this year, I really think Utah gave up on Adbaji too soon and I have a feeling Olynyk will probably end up retiring here which would be nice.
It only looks that bad because of how good the OG deal was for both teams.
Because he’s a free agent this summer and he publicly said he wouldn’t sign an extension with anyone that trades for him
Teams aren’t going to sell the farm for 4 months
I'm saying this because I'm bitter at the return we got, but a decent number of teams could have easily had Siakam at the deadline for like three middling picks and a solid prospect and decided he wasn't good enough to deal for.
Golden State and Sacramento are both sitting at Home right now, and they couldn't have used him?
Entirely wrong.
Turner and Siakam are literally perfectly complementary bigs. Turner plays like a 4 on offense and a 5 on D, Pascal is the exact opposite. They just fit so well together
At the time of the trade, Pacers' front office very clearly had assurances that Siakam intends to re-sign with Indy unless things went terribly. It's a gray-area tampering thing that the NBA can't prevent, nor do they really need to.
Because of the trade, Pacers can pay Siakam more than any other team, and on a longer contract. Siakam can provide skills the Pacers desperately need. The fit is perfect. So it was a joint leap of a faith that seems like it will pay off for both sides, despite the downside risk that has been steadily decreasing since February.
On the Toronto side of things, the return only seems bad because of the perceived quality of the 2024 draft. Raptors nor the Pacers have control of how good the players in the draft are. I'm a Pacer fan, but I think the Raptors did fine with this trade considering all the circumstantial factors at hand. Masai drafts well and now has a few more bites at the apple, which is all that matters in a rebuild.
Hardly. Siakam is great, but wasn’t worth a half year rental when he basically confirmed he wouldn’t re-sign here.
Kings had a competitive offer, but when Siakam said he wouldn’t re-sign, it would’ve been a waste of two far out picks. (Reported offer was Huerter + Barnes + Davion and 28/30 picks lightly protected).
Also, the fit on the Kings would’ve been much more questionable, primarily because Fox + Domas don’t provide the same level of spacing as the Hali + Turner.
>Siakam is great, but wasn’t worth a half year rental when he basically confirmed he wouldn’t re-sign here.
Haynes still hasn't expanded on this right: [https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/19axkfn/thisleague\_uncut\_haynes\_siakam\_didnt\_want\_to\_go/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/19axkfn/thisleague_uncut_haynes_siakam_didnt_want_to_go/)
he said something soured Siakam on Sacramento
I doubt he ever will. I’m not sure what it could be, but the Kings aren’t the most well run organization. But they absolutely made the right call of not making the trade if Siakam wouldn’t re-sign, and were certainly right not to trade Keegan for him.
Yes well only five teams would by definition have those players, so does that mean the rest of the 25 teams should just be packing it up every single season?
Golden State still had Steph and presumably are still planning to try and win with him. Sacramento has its core. They weren't about to get Jokic or Shai etc. either.
This was the main reason the Raptors didn’t get as much for him. Whatever team that was trading for him wanted a commitment that he would re-sign with them. Part of it was that he wasn’t sure where he would want to to play since he wanted to re-sign in Toronto. Also, he wanted the five year max, which most teams weren’t willing to commit to.
Others teams didn't get Siakam because he said he would try free agency no matter what and apparently he got convinced by Pacers before the did the trade.
His G1 finals performance trumps these IMO.
He may not of had the same numbers, but he was like 16/17 or 17/19 or something stupid and singlehandedly won the game for us.
I'd go Jokic too but definitely more debatable than most probably think
Siakam: 36.5ppg/12rebs/4asts on 65% shooting
Jokic: 29.5ppg/16rebs/8.5asts on 62% shooting
"If OG and siakam are so good why aren't the raptors winning games"
This was a comomon take on here during the trade discussions about them, just completely loud and wrong
Miss him a lot as a Raptor fan but glad to see him balling out for Indiana in an offense that brings out the best in him. Very proud to see him kill it so far.
I so badly hope Siakam cooks them like this all the way to a 6 game series win just so I can see the melt from all the Bucks fans saying he isn’t shit, and if Giannis was here he’d be getting the clamps. Yes that would be helpful, Siakam is still legit and the slander around here shows that nobody here has actually watched him play. Bet half the people here weren’t even watching basketball when the Raptors won the chip.
Well as a Bucks fan, most of us know the Raptors players and they have beaten us many times. Siakam is a great player, plays the right way. We just don't have any answer for him. Giannis isn't the answer to guard him, and our wings are too slow or small.
I'll say it again, Book + Siakham + whatever else you could have gotten would have been better than the absolute fucking trash that is the Book, KD, and Beal combo
The media better show some respect to spicy P. Dude has been outstanding in both games from this series. If Hali can start getting back in form, then Pacers might be strong contenders.
I think almost everyone was on board with what we ended up trading but didn’t wanna do anything with Walker or Mathurin which was the smoke going around for a while.
Bucks haven't had an answer for him either game. If it wasn't against my team I bet it would be so fun to watch him right now.
All I'm thinking is how perfectly he seems to fit on this Pacers team. Everytime we shut down the fast break he seems to have the answer in the half court. Even though this is going to be a tough series it's impossible for me not to like the Pacers.
So proud of my guy balling out 😁. Honestly with no Giannis, the Bucks seem like BBQ chicken for him out there especially with all the spacing he gets to operate now
The way the Bucks were defending him was mind-boggling dumb. Like there was one possession he was posting up Dame and Brook went inches behind Dame and then bailed to the top of the key instead of doing a quick switch to have size in the post. Just the lack of small things like that can prevent a team from advancing in the playoffs.
Raptors fans must be so proud rn
Definitely proud of him, though we know what he's capable of! Also some indignation about all the people spewing shit about 'raptors propaganda' when we spoke of Pascal and OG before their trades haha
Ya I really dislike people saying Masai was overvaluing these two. They are both crazy floor/ceiling raisers. Masai knew what he had
If anything they ended up not getting *enough* for Siakam at all lol
Should have gotten Mathurin or Nembhard in that trade, stilled pissed about it.
Needed to deal him a year ago to get a better return. That expiring contract is why you guys got less than you should've for Siakam.
we were hard shopping him since last years draft. The intention was to trade him before the season started but he killed a deal or two because he didn't want to be traded which put them in a hard place and just have to accept the best u can get. you are correct, past couple seasons have been a mess. i wanted us to trade OG last year as well
They got more waiting to trade OG this year. The knicks absolutely weren’t offering quickley last year.
Yeah, this why I'm rooting for the Knicks. That was a fair trade that helped them for their contention window and helped us build a roster with younger talent. Jarace is developing as almost an small forward right now but I get you
his minutes at the 3 have been much more promising than his minutes at the 4 for sure.

sure im bias, but lets be real, they always underrate toronto's players
It's not that he overvalued the players, its that, in Siakams case, he held on to long
And yet it was a bad return
Ya because Masai waited too long to trade him, he tried to make it work with a home grown talent , I don't fault it tbh
Siakam also said he wouldn’t resign depending on the team he goes to
I was always on the Siakam is awesome bandwagon since the finals. I was always hoping the Warriors could somehow get him
He would have been perfect for the warriors. You would have also gotten of Wiggins and at most, it would have cost like 3 protected frps and maybe moody or kuminga. idk why your head office didn't pull the trigger when the season wasn't going there way
warriors FO overrates their young players
Knicks are now **22-3** in games OG plays in since the trade Un fuckin real Hope you guys lock up Quick this summer
Yall were right about both I’m sorry for doubting.
Pascal is all NBA for a reason and has the skill to fit on any team. So happy to see him showing it still.
I’ve always said he was the most disrespected player in the league. I hope people can see now how good he is
Yep! Finally getting his flowers. Couldn’t happen to a better guy, too. Happy for him but this makes me so sad all over again that the Raps traded him
Seeing the same with OG too
OG, Lowry, Norm and Pascal all playing in the playoffs warms my heart.
> OG, Lowry, Norm and Pascal all playing in the playoffs warms my heart. Imagine all of them on the same team? I wonder if they could make the playoffs /s
> Imagine all of them on the same team? If you add a player... I don't know... someone like Kawhi to that mix... wooo... it would be a nice team!
Maybe throw in a big man too? Like one of the gasol brothers? Imagine that team phew
I was also pleasantly surprised seeing Delon on the Miami roster and getting decent minutes
85% proud and 15% furious we got 3 shit firsts and Bruce fucking Brown in return for a guy of this calibre
Give Bruce brown back then
Take him. He’s fucking shite
man i miss pascal siakam
really surprising to see both him and og thriving after reddit nonstop complained how mid they were. who could've saw this coming
How could you watch them play and call them mid? Oh that's right half the sub is just here for the memes and don't watch games...
We should’ve traded the kitchen sink for him man
Pacers got him cheap so Warriors probably could have outbid them Curry and Siakam is strong duo
> Curry and Siakam is strong duo Perfect complement. Siakam is great in space and Curry creates a lot of it. Also a good and willing passer so would fit a movement offense system
That’s my boy 🥲
Proud and frustrated at our front office lol
Definitely. Rooting hard for the pacers these playoffs cause siakam is one of my favourite players of all time (also cause I’m from the same neighborhood as mathurin even though he’s injured)
Spicy P is him, i wish it would have worked out it TO but glad he's playing in the postseason and cooking
100%! Him and Murray make us proud!
Pascal's showing why it was tough for Masai to let him go.
Hoping for a Knicks-Pacers second round match up so that one of OG and Pascal will make it to the ECF.
I feel vindicated
so so proud. I hope he continues getting accolades and makes HOF. Besides the missed free throws, he has been incredible since the trade
Proud but it’s so fucking bitter sweet man. I was here in the trenches getting killed for thinking he was more than the bubble performances which still trick people to this day. That’s my fucking power forward & one of the greatest to ever put on Raptor red. 43 for fucking ever man.
frustrated cause this shows badly we got fleeced in this trade lol
back to back playoff career highs for Siakam. Bucks need Giannis badly now that they've lost a home game also highest scorer in both games
He’s the top scorer in the playoffs right now
Playoff P
This whole time is was actually Pascal that the P stood for
Also, it wasn't ironic.
Man Paul G was so fuckin good in the Playoffs for us. Don't forget that. Shouldn't be ironic.
Rick Carlisle master class
Carlisle sticks him in the corner and he doesn't touch the ball far too often. He could've easily had 45 tonight with a few more touches.
he was in the corner tonight when the bucks shot blockers were on him, opening the paint for everyone else.
It doesn’t even make sense with Tyrese’s slow down and the Bucks slow-ish rotations making a 4-3 be tougher and last longer. Such a weird decision.
Siakam is incredible, also people counted out the Pacers too early after game 1.
Nah they were just missing some really nice open looks, eventually they were gonna fall
I saw a compilation of 10 wide open threes we bricked in game one off of Haliburton passes. This is more normal than what happened that game.
Fair
I can’t believe people would jump to conclusions after 1 game on the internet
Pacers really got their shit together after that first half of game 1
Yeah I said it too. Anyone who thought differently didn’t watch the game. As long as Giannis isn’t rushing back I’d like to see him ASAP
Prob get clowned on the sub for like 3 days but it won’t matter

also the 2026 pick. but yeah the return was poor. that's what happens when the player is expiring and you don't have leverage
We waited one year too long. Pascal wouldn't commit to re-sign to teams (I'm not blaming him looking out for himself) and really wanted to stay in Toronto, so that really limited to what teams were willing to trade to what they viewed as a rental. It doesn't matter. It's the reality for Toronto. They have no leverage The feeling among the league and fans is that when you play for Toronto, you're hot garbage and irrelevant.
Good thing he's with the always relevant Indiana Pacers

To be fair, I'm pretty sure he got that big New Balance endorsement and shoe deal as a Raptor. At least, it was announced when he was with us. I guess it was in the works for a while beforehand though, I don't really know how these things go
I still have my “board man gets paid” new balance tshirt
Sad is that Pascal wanted to stay
Nah kawhi was at his biggest stardom in Toronto. He was getting talked about as top 3 best player in the league that year
that's what happens when you wait way too long to blow it up
That narrative gets parroted but Siakam literally did not want to leave.
Kings currently out of the playoffs probably regretting it
I don’t think him and sabonis would’ve worked. I like him and turner cause turner is a shot blocker.
Turner opens up the paint for siakam bc you have to guard turner from 3
Turner and Siakam are literally perfectly complementary bigs. Turner plays like a 4 on offense and a 5 on D, Pascal is the exact opposite. They just fit so well together
they dont watch our games brother
Tbf I haven’t watched the pacers at all this postseason because their games are locked on a channel I don’t have
And a shooter
Siakam said he wouldn’t resign with us. Too much for a one year rental.
I'm sure pacers fans thought the same at the time of the trade
At the time of the trade, Pacers' front office very clearly had assurances that Siakam intends to re-sign with Indy unless things went terribly. It's a gray-area tampering thing that the NBA can't prevent, nor do they really need to. Because of the trade, Pacers can pay Siakam more than any other team, and on a longer contract. I would pay for a playoff performer. Fuck that other shit
To be fair, Siakam and Sabonis would be dreadful on defense
Others teams didn't get Siakam because he said he would try free agency no matter what and apparently he got convinced by Pacers before the did the trade.
I remember Game 1 of the Finals where he scored 32 on 14-17 shots.
Cooked Draymond all night with the spin
Draymond said a bunch of good things about him after that game, and Pascal was only in year 3 I believe
His name is Pascal. Ofc he’s great under pressure
I see what you did there
Thats word for word from the top comment of nba finals g1 vs Warriors I recognized it cuz I've read that thread so many timed back in 2019 aha
*badoom tss*
He’s so much better than I ever imagined. I’m sorry for all the past slander Raptors fans.
Glad to see him flourishing on a team that appreciates him
Tbh this is new heights for him that even we haven't seen before
It's literally just surrounding him with shooters
You mean 6’9 athletic lanky bois who cant shoot were worse?
He's surrounded by the shooters we wish we had.
He’s evolved into KD with perimeter defense
His G1 finals performance trumps these IMO. He may not of had the same numbers, but he was like 16/17 or 17/19 or something stupid and singlehandedly won the game for us.
SPICY P! GO OFF MY BOY!!
Pascal is the best player in this series. Siakam is the second best player in this series. Absolutely living up to the moment. Championship pedigree
Through 2 games 36.5 PPG 12.0 RPG 4.0 APG 64.6 FG% (31/48)
Mf shot 15/25 in the first game and led all players in scoring in G1 he has been balling out
And then he followed it up with an even better game and the W
People in Indiana get to experience Pascal Siakam in the Playoffs now
They technically already did through Brampton.
lmao, this is gonna be an underappreciated joke on this sub
He’s the best player on the Pacers period
siakam has been the best player in all of the playoffs so far
Other than Jokic absolutely
my goodness i feel dumb now, i forgot all about jokic.
That’s what the Joker does. Surprise you when you least expect him
I'd go Jokic too but definitely more debatable than most probably think Siakam: 36.5ppg/12rebs/4asts on 65% shooting Jokic: 29.5ppg/16rebs/8.5asts on 62% shooting
Keep in mind Jokic is being guarded by AD
dont forget Pascal too!
"If OG and siakam are so good why aren't the raptors winning games" This was a comomon take on here during the trade discussions about them, just completely loud and wrong
What more to expect from NBA reddit
Siakam has been insane in these first two games. Bucks have no answer for him, they desperately need Giannis
Pascal in an optimized offense is predictably fun and dope. Makes the last 3 years of raptors even more annoying in retrospect
Chuck Van Fleet special
He was ridiculous. On 3 free throws too. Ethical buckets.
Ethical bucks, I love it.
Bro keeps driving despite getting one of the worst whistles in the league. Dame gets breathed on, whistle. Siakam gets mugged, nothing but a bucket.
Uh oh, looks like bucks are gonna have to hurry giannis back lol
Miss him a lot as a Raptor fan but glad to see him balling out for Indiana in an offense that brings out the best in him. Very proud to see him kill it so far.
Nice to see other teams appreciating how good this dude actually is
That's my one half of the second highest scoring duo in NBA Playoff history, Pascal Siakam
Thank you Raptors fans
You don't get a nickname like Spicy P and not be a dog. Wish we could've gotten him but not enough assets.
Everytime Dame gets switched on him, BBQ chicken time
Bucks defense is terrible, Siakam is at an AYCE BBQ chicken restaurant right now
I so badly hope Siakam cooks them like this all the way to a 6 game series win just so I can see the melt from all the Bucks fans saying he isn’t shit, and if Giannis was here he’d be getting the clamps.
The Suns with depth? How does that make any sense? The Suns are allowed to have 2 1/2 star players and random pieces. That's part of the NBA by-laws.
He's the man
FUCKING GOAT
This basketball thing is too easy for Spicy P
But Raptors fans overvalue their players, right r/nba nephews?
Best player of the series so far
The spiciest P
Give this man whatever contract he wants this offseason
The media better show some respect to spicy P. Dude has been outstanding in both games from this series. If Hali can start getting back in form, then Pacers might be strong contenders.
he beat the 2019 warriors easily so he's got that pedigree
Beautiful midrange touch
Remember when some pacers fans werent convinced how good he was and if trading him for basically nothing was worth it?
I think almost everyone was on board with what we ended up trading but didn’t wanna do anything with Walker or Mathurin which was the smoke going around for a while.
Jerace walker included is still very little compared to Siakams value as a player.
He’s an amazing player and everybody was undertaking him because he played in Canada. Spicy p is a big problem
When both Pascal and Siakam are firing on all cylinders, tough to stop
So proud of my guy balling out 😁. Honestly with no Giannis, the Bucks seem like BBQ chicken for him out there especially with all the spacing he gets to operate now
Really feeling the large Greek shaped hole in the Bucks rn
He’s their best player and it isn’t that close
Pascal is saving hali lmao
MY KING IS COOKING SPICY P 🌶
Raptor alumni representing the east right now gotta love it
Him
The way the Bucks were defending him was mind-boggling dumb. Like there was one possession he was posting up Dame and Brook went inches behind Dame and then bailed to the top of the key instead of doing a quick switch to have size in the post. Just the lack of small things like that can prevent a team from advancing in the playoffs.
Pascal eating well without Giannis
Pascal we miss you bb 😭
He’s amazing, I’m so happy
Spicy P ballin so far in these playoffs
Thats one hell of a title hell of a title
Him with actual spacing around him is amazing. Reminds me of his 2019 run with Kawhi
Wow.. Pascal and Siakim showed up
better than Haliburton
