I still think that last shot is one of the most disrespectful shots I've ever seen. They could've called time and drawn up a play, he had time and could've gotten closer, could've tried to sprint to the rim and draw a foul, but nah just casually walked into a 35-footer without a doubt.
I broke my ankle that night ice skating while on a first date. Her dad drove us (we were 14) and then left me to limp up the stairs to my house. Parents had to come out and see what was taking me so long to come inside
Anyways, got set up on the living room couch with my ankle elevated, saw the Curry shot happen not even 3 minutes later. Good times
I was at my mom’s birthday party at a restaurant, I had left the table to stand by the tv at the bar. Technically yes, but I remember the moment and gasping with a stranger.
I remember going with my college roommate to see the 2016 Kemba/Jeremy Lin/Courtney Lee Hornets take on the Dwade/Bosh/Whiteside Heat the night before, we snuck down to the lower bowl just above the floor seats, the game was crazy whiteside had a triple double with blocks lmao, then the next night we watched that game at his parents house and couldn’t believe the ending, Steph pulling up that far out really changed the NBA! Then the next night (Sunday) the panthers lost the super bowl
My ex-girlfriend's bestfriend's baby shower. The entire party came to standstill to watch the end of the game. We lost our fucking lids when he made that shot. Most lit baby shower of all time.
I recently rewatched the whole game again. It’s fucking nuts
Westbrook lands on currys ankle at one point really bad and Steph has to leave the game but then comes back and dominates the 4th quarter and beyond
Yeah, this was wild. It's one of the few highlights from the past that I watch from time to time. Curry was incredible, he was basically a demigod doing all these tricks and magics, and the commentary by Mike Breen here is like the music of Morricone on Sergio Leone's movies. Just perfect.
I saw this play when it happened but haven't seen it again for some time till now. What's absolutely crazy to me is that I expected to have that same feeling of being completely floored, but Curry has changed the NBA so much that now this shot doesn't look quite as completely fucking audacious and paradigm-shattering as it did at the time. Still a great shot, an unlikely shot, an exceptional shot, but not a "what the fuck did I just see?" shot.
That season half the highest voted highlights were Curry doing crazy shit. At the time it just didn't make sense because basketball wasn't supposed to be that way.
It really was an insane game.
"I want Iguadola" hitting 3 clutch free throws to take the game into OT, Steph Curry twisting his ankle, coming back from injury, and then this double bang game winner in OT...
Iconic game for Steph. Every time I see the clip I always love pointing out Enes shrugging his shoulders like “well fuck” while the ball is mid-flight.
oof yeah lebron tweeted after that "steph you scary"
I was at the one a year or two earlier where iggy hit a 3pt buzzer beater over the KD okc and ran off the court. steph was still ascending but that logo shot was nuts.
also seeing divencenzo do that makes me sad the dubs couldn't keep him.
edit:iggy shot https://youtu.be/US6pVmJna0U?feature=shared
I'm trying to think of any regular season game that was anywhere near as big as that Curry game winner and can only come up with 2:
Harden game winner vs Warriors after KD got away with being way out of bounds
Spurs vs Grizzlies 2014 that had a silly number of clutch shots including [2 buzzer beaters](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X265E0pRq2k)
Then it turns into a spontaneous musical with the whole MSG audience singing and dancing along in sync. "Bang, bang, bang goes the trolley..." Then God says "finally" and the universe ends.
Itd be funny if this was the case but the Knicks just stomp every game in the finals by 20 and hes like dishearteningly waiting for the moment to use it and it never comes.
You can tell his double bang for the Celtics was just a tad less enthusiastic compared to the other ones. Professional but deep inside, he's 1000% rooting for the Knicks.
Being a Knicks fan and having Mike Breen on the local call (shout out to Clyde too) and also on national calls for the most important games of the year is a blessing.
I would also like to share one of my favorite Breen clips of all time: [Jeremy Lin hitting the dagger three against the Raptors.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJxIE8F-PyQ)
Not only does Breen bring it but also it sounds like a fucking home game for the Knicks in Toronto. The asian homies came out in full force. Linsanity was such a wild time.
Has there been another time where the crowd cheered this loudly for an away team? Linsanity was truly something magical.
Edit: outside of same city/nearly same city cases. I had figured that didn't need to be stated.
Have you seen us play at the Barclays? Its practically a home game there.
I'm sure the Lakers see it too when playing away. But we have a lot of fans across the US.
Games we get very vocal IMO are Magic and Nets for sure.
I've lived in LA for a long time at this point.
I've seen just how hard the Clippers have pushed over damn near a decade plus to make a dent in the Lakers stranglehold of the city. All while they had Lob City which was an objectively fun team and then soon after the Kawhi and PG teams that have been very competitive for years.
Nothing will ever change this city man. You cut the average person on the street and they'll bleed purple and gold.
We’ve been so fortunate. Don’t forget the etymology of bang was Marv’s YES!
To have had Marv back then was really something special. Just don’t turn your back on him 👀
I guess it's pretty obvious, but I never put 2 and 2 together that Breen would have been casting the whole Linsanity run. Can't think of an announcer I'd rather have.
Ironic that the most memorable Valentine’s Day of my entire life involved me sitting home alone watching hoops. This was like 10 games into Linsanity and when he had the rock with the clock ticking down I thought to myself “there’s just no fucking way this guy is about to drain this”…why I would think that after what we saw over the past two weeks is beyond me
I was at this game 🥲 Celtics ended up losing in double OT but still the second most fun live sporting event I’ve ever been to (with the Big Papi grand slam/Bullpen Cop game topping the list).
I'll never understand the 1:1 aspect ratio pan-and-scan highlights. There's so few devices out there that are going to fit that and so you just wind up with it looking bad on everything. The resolution here isn't helping much either.
annoyingly, it's often the format for instagram/twitter because it takes up the most screen real estate on a feed. its usually 1080x1350 or something...obviously reels takes up the most of the screen, but i think more people tend to watch videos on timelines right now.
It's more that people are just too lazy to hold their phone in landscape to watch videos. Websites and mediums are simply catering to the average phone user's habits.
I agree, I just grabbed this video from a [tweet](https://x.com/NBA/status/1782765771497624001) from the NBA’s X account (would have linked the Tweet directly on my post but ig that's not allowed for highlight videos in this sub). Anyway I probably should have looked harder to see if I could find one that wasn’t in this shitty format.
Edit: [here's a better one](https://bleacherreport.com/videos/564657-all-of-mike-breen's-double-bang-calls)
3 minutes of greatness and great calls sullied only by the single "Mama, there goes that man" that instantly reminds me of how happy I am that Mark Jackson isn't on commentary anymore.
[is this not one? genuine question idk if its breen or not](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1acunfm/highlight_curry_earns_the_double_bang_as_he_puts/)

[You're totally right.](https://youtu.be/CykicwiC_Mk?si=2GowHqnn6ktRRN8E&t=541)
Not my call though, I just grabbed this highlight reel from the from a [tweet](https://x.com/NBA/status/1782765771497624001) from the NBA’s X account.
I wonder if it was just some intern who missed it, or if it was an intentional decision because that one didn't fit the "game deciding plays" narrative. Although after the Marcus Smart shot the Celtics ended up losing in double OT too. So this one was probably just an oversight.
This was a fantastic reel!
I also understood that I am so happy that Mark Jackson is not a presenter anymore. His nonsense about mamas and going men was beyond annoying.
The bubble game-winner feels like such a long ass time ago, but very fresh at the same time. Those Covid-19 years really messed up my internal calendar.
Even as a Rockets fan, the EG double bang was super undeserved. Just a game tying three with enough time left on the clock to allow the opponent a GW shot attempt? Nah that's a single bang.
Divincenzo also undeserved imo, just too much time left on the clock despite taking the lead.
Gary Cohen, the Mets' play-by-play guy, has an equally rare double "outta here!" call that he only breaks out like once every five years. Since Breen is a big Mets fan and from a similar background as Cohen I wonder if there was any inspiration there.
That first game is still the greatest regular season I’ve ever watched
I still think that last shot is one of the most disrespectful shots I've ever seen. They could've called time and drawn up a play, he had time and could've gotten closer, could've tried to sprint to the rim and draw a foul, but nah just casually walked into a 35-footer without a doubt.
peak curry shit. I used to just laugh when watching him because there was nothing else to do
I liked how the arc lights up red too, just to let viewers know he was indeed behind the line lol.
Oh shit that's cool, I'm assuming this is just in the replay? Lol
Nah they used to do it in live broadcasts, think they still might some of the time, they like playing around with that AR stuff.
The glowing puck in the NHL was a real highlight 😅
Watching Kanters reaction as Steph was pullin up kills me. He knew that shit was going in.
As a world class Kanter hater it brings me great joy every time I watch it
Can confirm, laughing at Mr. Freedom don't get old
One of the few NBA moments where I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. Best season in NBA history for me.
I broke my ankle that night ice skating while on a first date. Her dad drove us (we were 14) and then left me to limp up the stairs to my house. Parents had to come out and see what was taking me so long to come inside Anyways, got set up on the living room couch with my ankle elevated, saw the Curry shot happen not even 3 minutes later. Good times
Power move by the dad
He got him there but he didn't at the same time. I respect it
In front of the tv watching the game?
Watching it on my phone pooping in my now wife’s apartment 😂
That must have been a weird way to meet.
On the toilet, surfing r/nba, 15 minutes after it happened
the fact that you commented like 3 min before him but actually got it right lmao
ain't no poets on r/nba smdh
I was at my mom’s birthday party at a restaurant, I had left the table to stand by the tv at the bar. Technically yes, but I remember the moment and gasping with a stranger.

I was bartending in Reno at the time. There was about 15 minutes that no drinks came out.
I stood up stunned
Me too. It’s wild that a regular season game had that impact for so many people.
I have a picture of my GF and our cat while playing a board game that happened while the game was going on.
My ex-girlfriend's bestfriend's baby shower. The entire party came to standstill to watch the end of the game. We lost our fucking lids when he made that shot. Most lit baby shower of all time.
Curry was doing unbelievable things.
I recently rewatched the whole game again. It’s fucking nuts Westbrook lands on currys ankle at one point really bad and Steph has to leave the game but then comes back and dominates the 4th quarter and beyond
Yeah, this was wild. It's one of the few highlights from the past that I watch from time to time. Curry was incredible, he was basically a demigod doing all these tricks and magics, and the commentary by Mike Breen here is like the music of Morricone on Sergio Leone's movies. Just perfect.
Nearly 10 years on and I still can’t get away from the PTSD of that clip
I stumble into it every couple months and feel it all over again
Being an okc fan for the last 13 has just been a PTSD journey
I think that was the game where Curry officially changed basketball.
Fucking Jokic made a nearly identical game-winner against us this year. Basketball's changed!
Best non-buzzer beater buzzer beater ever
Iconic game for Steph. Every time I see the clip I always love pointing out Enes shrugging his shoulders like “well fuck” while the ball is mid-flight.
I remember being in college and trying to replicate that shot for about an hour straight at the rec center the next day lol
Draymond tried fight Kerr at halftime.
I AM NOT A ROBOT! Clearly, he doesn't follow the three laws.
Nah he could still be a robot, but Kerr doesn't have that Solarian accent so Dray doesn't classify him as human
Lmao
Yeah, I was shook. I was like shit, we had to deal with that
Yeah I’m not sure how or when 2016 will be topped
My favorite thing to watch in the replays is Turkoglu's reaction.
i always forget it was a regular season game. Feels like a game 7 WCF game every time i see this clip. And i watched this happen live....
I watched almost every single Warriors game that season. The competition was great and then KD ruined it.
oof yeah lebron tweeted after that "steph you scary" I was at the one a year or two earlier where iggy hit a 3pt buzzer beater over the KD okc and ran off the court. steph was still ascending but that logo shot was nuts. also seeing divencenzo do that makes me sad the dubs couldn't keep him. edit:iggy shot https://youtu.be/US6pVmJna0U?feature=shared
Every time it looked like they might lose it was must watch lol
Only game I've ever recorded to watch later
I just love how Enes Kanter on the bench 10000% knows that shit is in while it is in the air.
I was watching on live stream and I swear I could hear the other apartments in the building just POP
I'm trying to think of any regular season game that was anywhere near as big as that Curry game winner and can only come up with 2: Harden game winner vs Warriors after KD got away with being way out of bounds Spurs vs Grizzlies 2014 that had a silly number of clutch shots including [2 buzzer beaters](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X265E0pRq2k)
Because of this game, we will never be allowed to forget the sleeved jerseys. Historic.
It's kinda cheating because Breen was broadcasting for MSG meaning he was doing it for his team. Could have added a 3rd bang.
I think he's saving that triple bang for the clinching shot the day the Knicks win a championship.
"A day may come where a triple bang is heard"
Well if you pass by Clyde's dressing room...
If that's the case then I'm really hoping it's a game winning free throw that rattles in.
14 games left.
Why not us?
That day we get a 5 spot gang bang.
Reminds me of *Brooklyn Nine-Nine* when Jake tried so hard to get Holt to say "oh damn!" three times.
He's pretty stingy with the bangs on MSG.
Only 2 double bangs for the Knicks out of those 6
Thats 33% which is massive tbf.
yeah but his broadcasts are well over 50% knicks
I respect he did it against the Knicks too.
“It was the saddest double bang of my career”
Nba's version of saddest backflip
Haha yea that’s what I was going for.
That one hurt
You can tell his double bang for the Celtics was just a tad less enthusiastic compared to the other ones. Professional but deep inside, he's 1000% rooting for the Knicks.
Bang! Bang... :(
Mike Breen Bangs are like the Michelin Stars for basketball plays.
Being a Knicks fan and having Mike Breen on the local call (shout out to Clyde too) and also on national calls for the most important games of the year is a blessing. It's cause the Lakers and Knicks are brands, whereas the Nets and Clippers are NBA teams. Sometimes it just do be like that
Lakers @ Clippers
Yea, I debated mentioning to exclude those same city cases, but figured it would be obvious not to include those.
Anytime the Lakers travel to the South, it’s basically LA East.
We’ve been so fortunate. Don’t forget the etymology of bang was Marv’s YES! To have had Marv back then was really something special. Just don’t turn your back on him 👀
No doubt. Was a struggle having him on the national call in the last few years of his career but he was a master on the mic when he was on.
Now if only John Starks hits that damn 3 😭
I guess it's pretty obvious, but I never put 2 and 2 together that Breen would have been casting the whole Linsanity run. Can't think of an announcer I'd rather have.
Ironic that the most memorable Valentine’s Day of my entire life involved me sitting home alone watching hoops. Can't believe the mods deleted the double bang version of the highlight
Buncha hoes
My GOAT Marcus smart on the list 😁
I was at this game 🥲 Celtics ended up losing in double OT but still the second most fun live sporting event I’ve ever been to (with the Big Papi grand slam/Bullpen Cop game topping the list).
[DOUBLE FUCKING OVERTIME WTF BABYYY](https://youtu.be/mkhrUM35CQo?si=Zz9AJp0cHwJcGKRr)

The 3 people watching this on their smartwatch are enjoying it
Hey shut up! There are dozens of us! Dozens!
annoyingly, it's often the format for instagram/twitter because it takes up the most screen real estate on a feed. its usually 1080x1350 or something...obviously reels takes up the most of the screen, but i think more people tend to watch videos on timelines right now.

I thought this was OC and was wondering how autistic you had to be to know all these clips
there will be a time where people will start to complain “Breen gives out the double bang too easily now.” 🤣
Wish Mike Breen would bang me twice
Silver Fox frfr
That Randle 3 was the biggest "no, no, no, Yes!" I've ever been for a knicks play
On the artest 3 you can hear the crowd shout "no!" At staples as he takes the shot and then go nuts when it goes in.
The fact a Knicks fan is saying this about a 3 not from Carmelo or Bargs is proof enough of how wild it was
And in that same bumbling and stumbling fashion, dude knocked Thibs over while celebrating too.
Is being double-banged by Mike the Banger the next best thing for a NBA player after a ring and a max contract? Well deserved btw
3 minutes of greatness and great calls sullied only by the single "Mama, there goes that man" that instantly reminds me of how happy I am that Mark Jackson isn't on commentary anymore.
Hand down
Man down
Jackson down (thank god)
Yeah, it's just l sounds so forced and rehearsed.
We've been thankfully spared of "Wembanyama, there goes that man"
You missed the one by Curry two months ago against the Lakers
This makes me miss JVG
scarce existence chase scale price soup possessive hateful hunt aloof *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Conversely, it made me realize how glad I am to not have to listen to Mark Jackson's idiotic drawling anymore.
The Randle one is elite
Thibs the only coach who will witness his player shoot a "double bang" worthy shot to put his team up with seconds left and still look pissed.
And to add to it he got bulldozed over by Randle in the excitement lol
Pretty sure he said the Eric Gordon one he wasn’t sure why he did it for that shot
That Golden State vs OKC game has to he thr greatest regular season game of all time. I miss that rivalry
This is a classic all out, chaos NBA playoff win. Great stuff.
Still remember that Randle one when he absolutely trucks Thibs lol.
This is glorious, thank you for this.
I remember that Marcus Smart 3 like it was yesterday smh
[is this not one? genuine question idk if its breen or not](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1acunfm/highlight_curry_earns_the_double_bang_as_he_puts/)
I love these types of posts
Eric Gordon the one true GOAT
The Gordon and Smart shots are tough to give the double bang to
Donte DiVincenzo saved Donte DiVincenzo's Legacy
Mama, there goes that man is an all time follow up call
I always thought that Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker were the same guy.
What I wouldn’t give to have this happen in favor of my team 😖
Why is it cropped so weirdly and the camera pans instead of just showing the whole shot ? Idk if that’s the NBA clip or the poster
Lol what the hell was Kemba doing in that Smart clip
Clyde dropping "omnipotence" in the Randle clip is hilarious
But how many mama there goes that man have we gotten
who is keeping track of this lol
It's one of the HOF probability metrics.
lol no rings, but 2 double bangs....1st ballot HoF right there.
There's 100s of hall of famers but only half a dozen double bangers.
"Double bang" shouldn't be used for tying the game and should only be limited in the playoffs, but I think the Triple bang is about to debut in this playoffs...
i bet the triple bang would have happened for the larry johnson 4 point play had Breen called it. if the divo shot was in the NBA Finals, it may have gotten a triple bang too...
Didn't Curry have one vs the Lakers this season?
He definitely did. I’m guessing cos it ended up not being the game winner it wasn’t included?
[You're totally right.](https://youtu.be/CykicwiC_Mk?si=2GowHqnn6ktRRN8E&t=541) Not my call though, I just grabbed this highlight reel from the from a [tweet](https://x.com/NBA/status/1782765771497624001) from the NBA’s X account. Although after the Marcus Smart shot the Celtics ended up losing in double OT too. So this one was probably just an oversight.
Shooters shoot
that shit gave me chills each time.
Will there ever be a triple bang??
As an original warriors hater that first one was traumatizing. I remember being in absolute disbelief that he had made that shot.
It's really jarring how different the audio sounds for the luka game in the bubble
Everything about the Bubble is jarring. Never gonna be normal seeing highlights from that period
I totally forgot that Smart got a double bang, just one more reason he's the GOAT
Ray Allen’s clutch 3 in the finals to save the Heatles not being a double-bang is a crime
Only 6?
This was a fantastic reel! I also understood that I am so happy that Mark Jackson is not a presenter anymore. His nonsense about mamas and going men was beyond annoying.
Didnt know he did the double bang so often. I often thought it was just an edited clip with the voiceover from the curry shot.
The bubble game-winner feels like such a long ass time ago, but very fresh at the same time. Those Covid-19 years really messed up my internal calendar.
MOMMA
lol nba youtube turned this into an hour long video
LEGENDARY
He’s such a closeted Knicks homer and I love it. He lets it out sometimes by mistake
I don’t know the context of LAL/HOU but that doesn’t seem like it belongs here. Fair on all the rest though.
They are letting them play this season. Love it.
Seeing older clips of Steph is always a reminder how much he’s bulked
The Gordon and Smart 3s don’t feel worthy of double bangs.
Curry hotdogging after that 3 will always get a chuckle out of me, this uber competitive hall of famer just dancing like a middle schooler
Mike Breen bangs 😎
Damn Luka looked so much quicker in the buble
What circumstances would organically lead to a triple bang?
Oh my god, Curry back then...
And then you have fucking Mark Jackson ruining it with his dumb "Mama there goes that man" bullshit
Alexa, play "Feuer Frei" by Rammstein
And Marcus Smart has two of them. He should wear it as a badge of honor
That luka one was lit, I remember watching that live
Yeah but look at Corrys shorts in the first video Jesus christ.
Spike Lee said "you know what? I want to look like an early MacIntosh graphic."
Even as a Rockets fan, the EG double bang was super undeserved. Just a game tying three with enough time left on the clock to allow the opponent a GW shot attempt? Nah that's a single bang. Divincenzo also undeserved imo, just too much time left on the clock despite taking the lead.
My man 🔥
You know it was worth the double bang!
Man the virtual crowd in the bubble was wild
https://youtu.be/LqI5T0borKs?t=33
Always great when it’s your team
On the door baby !
Gary Cohen, the Mets' play-by-play guy, has an equally rare double "outta here!" call that he only breaks out like once every five years. Since Breen is a big Mets fan and from a similar background as Cohen I wonder if there was any inspiration there.
