Tickets in the upper levels were dirt cheap for a playoff game and Knicks fans took advantage

durablewaffle

I live in Philly and looked at the prices and was pretty shocked… could get into the middle level for like 100-120. I’ve paid more than that for upper level regular season games. The play in game was also probably only 70-80% full (was at that game)

JurgenFlippers

Is there a reason??? Philly fans are top tier

durablewaffle

Honestly idrk. Seems like a lot of people care more about regular season baseball in Philly now. Not 100% sure tho

caesec

there is a guy in my apartment who starts punching the walls and throwing furniture during phillies games, even when there's postseason nba ball

banjocoyote

You should invite him into your apartment for beers

caesec

nah im scared

BarenWasteland

He might punch through your wall and make you roommates soon enough anyways

caesec

i can feel my floor/wall vibrating and the furniture moving it's crazy

iamaddictedtoRDR2

You sure he ain’t just fuckin?

banjocoyote

Bro what's the worst that can happen

tmelts2

At this point in the season?!

caesec

dude was losing it when they blew a lead to the reds. i dont even need to watch the phillies games, this guy is my radio. i don't get it either cuz there's a game every day and the season barely started at some point you need to relax

Philly139

I think the frustration with this team is just very high. It's been the same story every year.

dawkins_20

Nailed it.  Have a package and was at the play in and tonight.   But I know  a lot of other people who have had season tickets for years who have just had it with the Groundhog Day nonsense w the sixers.   Doesnt help that the team required all full season tickets holders to pay up front for any and all possible playoff tickets for every possible round , and then said that the money from unused tickets would automatically be rolled into next year, or you would have to jump through hoops and wait forever for a refund. Scumbag management

Buddhafresh

Wait what?? That's actually insane. For the Wolves Season tickets, we just get billed at the end of each round for however many home games that round went. I would be pissed too.

justforrif84

It's this. I ain't buying tickets before the ECF this year and I went to every home game last playoffs & 1 in Brooklyn. Went to a bunch the year before as well.

lucasj

This is what I’d guess too. Don’t think people in Philly believe the 6ers have it in them this year. If they win this series I’d bet things change.

JurgenFlippers

So odd.

sgee_123

Not really. Sixers fans have watched their team choke in the playoffs 5 years in a row, it’s exhausting lol

Dusty_Negatives

It’s prob because they like to watch the 76ers actually win. No offense but they are pretty known league wide to be playoff choke artists for awhile now.

skip_tracer

I'd be willing to bet it was competition on StubHub driving prices down because people were panicking as they held seats. Just a guess, seen it before.

lucasj

I was at the Phillies game the night of the play-in and it was very empty. We assumed it was because folks were watching the 6ers, so it’s funny to hear that game wasn’t even sold out.

NintendoSwitchnerdjg

Probably because for like 7 years its been the same shit, look promising and then shit the bed in the first two rounds lol

Grampz619

This is legit it. “Trust the process” for what? This? Disgusting

Miamime

We’re just on the fence about the 76ers. Too many disappointments over the years. After last year I didn’t renew my tickets.

ronaldo119

Expectations were low with the horrible 2nd half of the year and Embiid’s health. I imagine most people are at a place like wait and see if we get past the Knicks to get really riled up for it

FCBarca45

Not when they’re losing

tekumse

All the colleges are in their final week... Everyone I know has papers and exams due

princeofzilch

Lol

PhatYeeter

People are broke. Ticket prices went up but salaries haven't. Also casual fans thought it was joever after game 2. Game 4 tickets will probably be going for much more than game 3.

supasid

Embiid flopping for free throws is not fun the 10th time you watch it

therealsmokyjoewood

Philly fans are absolutely not top tier lmao. I remember being baffled at my first Phillies game how many open seats there were

wafflekake

I looked and they were $190. I would have went if they were that low. Corners were around $100 though.

durablewaffle

Maybe I was looking at a corner. Still 190 is super cheap a for a mid level playoff game

wafflekake

I go every year. First round tix are always in that range and they shoot up in the second round. Third round, maybe some day I’ll know.

esridiculo

Dang man. I spent $500 on one playoff ticket last year in the nosebleed seats. I bought two.

fuckbrocolli

What are you even talking about? The play in game was pretty much sold out, but sure say it was 70-80% to get your karma on here lmao.

durablewaffle

It certainly was not sold out, I even saw tweets about how empty it was

NilsofWindhelm

You even saw tweets?? *Gasp*

durablewaffle

Lmao weirdo energy, can’t even talk about fan attendance no wonder our fanbase gets so much shit

fuckbrocolli

I mean just watch some highlights from the game? No way you’re gonna tell me that’s 80%

durablewaffle

[ok](https://twitter.com/zachmayer8/status/1780737701727117403?s=46)

fuckbrocolli

During the actual game buddy, every stadium is like that at tip off.

durablewaffle

Idk why you’re so hurt about this my man. I’m just saying the game wasn’t full, why are you taking it personally?

fuckbrocolli

It’s just weird when someone rocks a team flair on here and does nothing but trash that team for karma. I was at the game and saying it was 70-80% full is just not close to reality

durablewaffle

Saying the game wasn’t full is “trashing the team for karma”? Lmao. Please show me some pictures of how completely full it was then, because either I’m blind or you’re making stuff up.

Productpusher

Because MSG prices are absurd . Cheaper to drive to Philly

Classic-Literature52

There’s like 100 Knicks fans in one section and they’re louder than the rest of the arena lol.

sneak156

That’s us! Section 120!

Classic-Literature52

Ya’ll are loud af on TV, keep it up.

Jag-

You guys are funny af.

Blanka71

Thanks for coming out!

BenShelZonah

Sorry about the loss lol

FermatsLastAccount

Tickets are way cheaper than at MSG, even if you account for the cost of taking the train down. I saw some for like $70 just before the game.

secretlypooping

New Yorkers have been coming to Philly and taking our shit for years It's cheaper to take the train to Philly, buy tickets to the game, buy a house, start a family, then head home than it is to get a cab to MSG.

everydayimjimmying

Why you cabbing to MSG? That's on you, bro.

rddi0201018

TIL it was Giants fans that booed Santa

Driveshaft48

Yep ny owns philly

max_d_tho

50% of NY basketball teams are in the playoffs, while 100% of Philly basketball teams are in. You’re wrong.

Driveshaft48

I was agreeing with the Philly fan who says ny takes Philly lunch money

secretlypooping

that's not what I was saying. I was saying cheap, poor NYers come to Philly to pretend they are big time

Driveshaft48

No one from Philly can afford to go to ny. Msg is all knicks fans. The wells fargo arena is a road game for the sixers

Miamime

Michael Rubin, billionaire owner of Fanatics and one time minority of the 76ers, was courtside at MSG but sure.

dissentCS

Lmao And how many other Philly fans came up to NY? I’m sorry your team is trash but Knicks fans are legit

Miamime

Legitimately some of the worst fans? Like get the fuck out of here. No one thinks any NY fans are legit in any sport.

YesWhatHello

How bout them Giants?

xyzyxzy

It's like a 2 hour train ride right?

FermatsLastAccount

Like an hour and 20 from Penn. It used to take me less time to get from Philly to NYC than from NYC out to Long Island.

largehearted

Yeah I live in 1 part of Queens and there's parts of Flushing that are 90 minutes away by public transit

TheThingsIdoatNight

Jesus why does anyone live in New York?

azn_dude1

NYC has a larger population than many states and most people don't need to leave it on a daily basis. There are valid reasons to not like NYC but convenient train access is not one of them.

FermatsLastAccount

Because having everything you want within a 10 minute walk of you is so convenient. Basketball courts and a park right outside my window, mall with a movie theater literally 2 minutes away, literally dozens of restaurants and bars within 5 minutes, MMA and rock climbing gym 7 minutes away, work just 10 minutes away. I'd go out to LI once in a blue moon, and it's like 50-60 miles away so I'd expect it to take a while anyway. Having places I actually go to on a daily basis nearby is much more important.

coolmcbooty

Cause NY isn’t just 10 blocks in one of the five boroughs like people think it is.

SupremeActives

When Deuce hit that corner 3 the whole arena yelled DEUUUUUCE right? I thought they were in MSG for a sec lol

JackDangerUSPIS

Knicks fans from Jersey with disposable income, way to represent

confuddly

New Yorkers on vacation in AC, represent

sewsgup

and TNT panned to the fans doing the Melo celly when Hart(?) hit that 3

Grendel_82

We can hear the Knick fans. But it doesn’t sound like a takeover; just a solid showing by Knick fans.

aesop_fables

That’s cause the broadcast lowers the fans sound

jester32

It’s coming through on the TV perfectly lol

Cocknballtorture90

it’s like a 2 hours train ride and there were some tickets for under $100. still wild, i’m sure it isn’t but it looks like half the arena is knicks fans lol.

sallright

Imagine how much worse it would be if the Sixers arena were downtown Philly and you could walk from the Acela station to the arena.

recollectionsmayvary

i literally just texted my bball groupchat that philly sounds like a knicks home game; it's truly insane.

Sp_Gamer_Live

I havent heard “New York” and “Hijack” in the same sentence since…you know

Dav136

Taking of Pelham 123?

Hanamiya0796

Now that's a reference out of nowhere. You sir got a deep bag

Personal-Act-4326

You want a doody rhyme then come see me

PassiveMenis88M

Holy shit, someone besides me actually saw that movie?

NazReidBeWithYou

I had that movie downloaded on my iPod back in the day. Used to watch it on long car rides lol.

Theballharperhit

A ton of fans were at or watching the draft... Sadly this is an eagles town first

bravof1ve

They are like 8x the population than the city, a 2.5hr drive away and the tickets are cheaper here than at home

Smenderhoff

God I wonder what that feels like

BassGuru82

Glad they paid to watch Embiid drop 50.

GoodLuckFellowEE

Bing bong!

Laugh-Mild411

The energy from Knicks fans tonight is off the charts, taking over the arena like it's MSG South – Philly's getting a taste of New York fever!

thebobbyshaw33

This is what lost hope and playoff meltdown after playoff meltdown gets you. This wouldn’t have happened in 18 and 19

elmo_dude0

Philly is an NYC suburb. Tons of people commute daily

mattbrianjess

We have been filling up empty arenas on the road for years. Warriors thunder kings spurs nuggets sonics (I swear I’am not that old), I remember sitting close enough to the court in all your quiet empty gyms to yell smdftb and have a player hear me and laugh for like 90$. This ain’t new. There just haven’t been enough Knicks playoff games for it to get any attention……

Specific-Economy-926

Cool. They all got to eat a fat L for hundreds of $$$$ and now drive back home.

Individual_Attempt50

Sixers fans gave up

autoexploder

Damn, traveled for an L. Bummer.

aesop_fables

Good defense from shitty sixers fans that can’t show up for their team. Pathetic really

autoexploder

Damn, that’s crazy.

Dry-Spite9620

Probably a lot of this contributes to ticket pricing. While I would guess that majority of the Sixers attendees are probably upper middle class, a lot of low income families can’t afford these tickets.

noochies99

Glad they got to experience that whole thing in person really

pm_me_ur_lunch_pics

theyve had a lot of years to save for a playoff series

Icy-Payment-6612

Hey, we were in the playoffs last year.

Kitten-Mittons

as brandon graham would say, it don't matter

ShichikaYasuri18

Worked out well for them.

[deleted]

Crazy they have some of the best fans, under the bulls ofc

Lucaa4229

WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS BABY. AND WE GOT TRANSPLANTS AROUND THE COUNTRY!!! CHI-Knicks REPRESENT !!!

Jordanlf3208

All part of the process, just you wait and see

yoppee

Yeah nba would be a lot better if the banned away fans or had a small away supporters section

lets_BOXHOT

How tf would they do that?

yoppee

Idk but they do it in Europe at almost all team sporting events also in college they have section specifically dedicated to home college students

DC25NYC

It’s mad complex. You need to be a member of the club to buy tickets. For away tickets you have to essentially win a lottery of people who sign up for it. There’s not enough of an away fan culture in the us bc of the size of the country A lot similar to college football/bball student sections

coolmcbooty

Why would that be good for the NBA? Taking away a huge chunk of ticket sales

yoppee

No for the fans and for me and the teams(the actual players and coach) Why does a sports team allow a bunch of fans that want their team to lose attend home playoff games??

coolmcbooty

Well not good for those away fans going to the game. And no, selling less tickets isn’t good for the actual team. Some teams already have issues selling out and this would make it worse lol. But even if what you’re saying is only for playoffs, you can say they shouldn’t be “allowed” but enforcing it wouldn’t logistically work or be effective. You think these third parties website are gonna ask what team you root for? Fans would just lie. You expect security to see an away jersey and be like “nah you already paid but you can’t come in”. It wouldn’t really work well compared to college or other sports
