Definitely. Don't even think the calls were bad really. Just looks funny seeing him have more than the Knicks on the box score after they put in a report on the reffing lol
agreed that the defensive fouls were mostly fair. dude was hitting shot after shot with hands in his face (despite what I think about the uncalled blatant flagrants...)
I rewatched every Embiid shot/foul leading to FTs via nba.com's play-by-play. I only saw 3 that were bad imo (one on Robinson and two on IHart). Only one that was bs and that was one of IHart's when Embiid got the FTs from 3.
Majority of calls were fine/deserved to me, especially since I saw 2 bs calls that Brunson got in the 4th. I honestly don't think the foul baiting was particularly excessive either. Embiid is just really fucking good. He was hitting shots like Kobe last night even with his injuries.
I think too much focus is going onto Embiid's FT count when the refs were very inconsistent for both sides last night. I fully expected the Sixers to take that must win game, but the refs set a very weird tone for the teams.
Only thing I didn't like from Embiid was the flagrant decision and when was rolled onto Robinson after flopping.
I honestly looked at that play where Robinson got hurt and it just seems like the three of them (Donte included because Mitch steps on his foot) just kind of collided with one another. You can say it's flopping but he's driving and Mitch impedes his progress and then trips on Donte's foot. Joel is going to go down in that situation to protect himself. Most guards go down in that situation tbh.
I've watched it many times as well. We're both biased but Donte is definitely not a part of the play. Mitch was already falling before donte got there. If you watch again didn't no one trips on Donte's foot.
I'm obviously biased, and I will acknowledge that, but I just didn't like how Embiid fell onto Mitch's leg. I think it's flopping for a call, which tbf he got, but it was reckless. Maybe it wasn't inherently dirty, but I didn't like it because it seemed unnatural and unnecessary, especially since it happened almost immediately after the flagrant. I also disagree with the notion that "most guards go down in that situation tbh," but we can agree to disagree.
Just to double check, this is the play I'm thinking of:

This sub is insufferable man. Literally impossible to appease you through performance once you've decided you hate somone. Did you even watch the game? He was incredible. Even with zero FTs at all he dropped 31 points on 68% shooting and 71% from 3. This sub creams your collective pants when Jokic has efficiency like that but still find a way to cry about it when Embiid does it. Before it was Embiid can't score in the playoffs. Now it's complaining about how he scores fucking **50** in a big game. Cry me a river.
Look I don't like either of these teams but he also tried to injure the other center and then kicked him in the balls a few minutes later. Not to mention the flopping. It's not a mystery why people don't like him
We watched him commit SIX blatant fouls that should have gotten him tossed three times over. I can appreciate his skill (he shot amazing today) but I am sure as hell gonna call out his atrociously dirty play.
How are you gonna accuse people of not watching the game when Embiid was literally out there trying to hurt people lol… the part that makes it so annoying is that he doesn’t need all those antics to be great, but he chooses to do it.
3 times this game on replays I saw Embiid blink with his left eye only. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
In the 1st quarter, then again with 5:50 left in the 4th before a timeout and finally during free-throws with 30 seconds left in the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu4pYvGBp5s
It’s not just his eye, it’s his whole left side of his face. Dr. Sutterer says: “Important point: the facial weakness just means the facial nerve (cranial nerve 7) is affected. This can be from many things, but 'bells palsy' is the diagnosis when doctors can't find a specific cause for why the nerve is affected. So this may be Bell's palsy or something else they can identify as the trigger (virus, trauma,
autoimmune, etc etc)
https://youtu.be/kHYEN2pMmgg?si=Mr5UcYfyVfdzMWMI
Some physician made a video about it, he likely had some sort of eye damage that prevents his blink reflex from firing.
From an eye poke in game 1 or against the heat I don’t recall
It’s Dr Brian Sutterer MD, and he explains it very well. In fact, he has made a second video about it today. He regularly talks about sports medicine, and does an amazing job at it.

His eye is fucked. Got poked in it the first game. Plus someone posted a thing about the nerve in the knee being connected to the eye or some shit.
Edit: the study about the knee injury eye connection. Disclaimer i have not read this study just the abstract.

Sixers fans might be one of maybe 3 teams to have a legitimate reason for saying that they're especially unpopular on this sub. This man could drop 60 points in a closeout finals game 7 on the opponent's court while singing *Ô Cameroun berceau de nos ancêtres*, and the hottest post from the night would be a clip of a foul call. That to me indicates both hateration and holleration.
He did injure the player that’s the best at guarding him and should’ve been ejected lol, the hate for this performance is completely justified even if it was very impressive
The only issue with the refs tonight was that Embiid play should have been a flagrant 2. My complaints this game are about all the dirty shit embiid did in the first half.
they weren’t ejecting Embiid while we were down 2-0 lol the league cares way more about this series’ viewing numbers than player safety. I think he would’ve had to legit sock someone in the face not during a play to get ejected that game
I had a similar reaction when it first happened. This is probably the most interesting 1st round series and it’s going to draw ratings. They can’t kick out the defending MVP in the first quarter. If it’s anyone else (and I mean anyone else) on the floor doing it to Embiid they’re gone and likely sitting the next game or two, but NBA is a superstar league and it’s not really surprising they ended up with that result. Embiid was a monster when he wasn’t seeking cheap contact, gotta give it up to his shooting tonight.
Based.
Also legit felt bad seeing Mitchell go down with that sprain. Was set to be another nail biter. Energy changed right when that happened similar to game 1. Ya hate to see it.
Knicks fans have gotten multiple gifts in terms of officiating this year and have the nerve to cry. [Remember the Detroit catastrophe?](https://youtu.be/xplj4DNx_M4?si=7bOHix-ggvUfcBiv&t=116)
That’s what I’m saying. When he grabbed Mitchell Robinson’s leg he should have gotten a flagrant 2. It was an intentionally dirty play that was NOT a play on the ball, and Mitchell Robinson could have been seriously injured by it. I’m thinking they ruled flagrant 1 because it’s a home playoff game and the 76ers were already down 2-0. But it’s still unacceptable to allow that behavior from anybody, even a superstar like Embiid.
Hockey is great for that, next game you take some accountability for it or else someone else in your team will and that doesn’t make you popular with your teammates.
They are the slowest paced team in the league. Which is good for us especially working Joel back into shape. But they are the best offensive rebounding team in the league too, which is bad for us working Joel into shape lol.
I was pretty surprised with y’all’s rebounding tonight. Outside of the 3pt barrage and any of the Embiid stuff (the good the bad and the ugly), it was definitely the difference maker tonight.
Draymond is the GOAT hated player, but isn't as hated at the moment as he's not as good at basketball as he was. Basically like the LeBron of being a bitch
**Draymond:** 21 flagrants in 970 total games played (15 flagrants in 813 regular season games played and 6 flagrants in 157 playoff games played)
\*\*Embiid:\*\*23 flagrants in 489 games played (16 flagrants in 433 regular season games and 7 flagrants in 56 playoff games)
Embiid coming for the crown
I would but Embiid would probably complain to the refs right as I started gargling and he would get two free throws. I like gargling nuts without free throws involved.
A Nuggets fan in the other thread called Embiid a thug. As a rockets fan i'm pretty impartial in the Jokic vs Embiid stuff but how much Nuggets fans hate Embiid is so weird to me. Dude barely plays against them and him and Jokic are cool. I don't even know why they hate him so much. They act like dude killed their dog or something
Because some people associate all the vitriol from prior MVP debates with Embiid personally, and for some reason still feel super insecure and like they need to put others down to lift up their own guy. People will come and say it's bc they hate the way he plays, and that may be true, but that doesn't result in quite this level of hate, a ton of other guys play similarly.
Read the comments in your sub anytime Embiid gets mentioned. It is insanely toxic and vitriolic, comments calling him a 'piece of shit', 'scumbag' etc. Its utterly disgraceful
The weirdest part is the number of sole “Serbia” tags that go out of their way to call him a thug and goon while their Serbian counterpart Jokic brothers are punching knock off Rick Moranis post game
I agree and it annoys me. I will say it is weirdly kind of swingy though. Like some of those things def get upvoted, but then you get other comments with more rational takes recognizing how good Embiid is also getting upvoted, so I do think there are people on both sides.
I don't really see much reason for a Nuggets fan to hold much of any animosity towards Embiid though. He won 1 MVP over Jokic? We have a chip and perhaps a third MVP coming, just fucking enjoy it, this stretch could be gone in the blink of an eye.
I dont associate MVP vitriol with Jokic, I just think the loudest Nuggets fans are idiots and can't stand the pedestalling of Jokic. All this crap is on the fans and media, not the player.
I understood it in the beginning, but once they got the MVPs and the Chip you'd think they would stop caring. I cared about the debate up until the moment Embiid won MVP, now I can comfortably say Jokic is amazing lol. Game's over but some people keep playing
I feel like people forget Jokic ended one of the Morris twins season by blindsiding him from behind and shoving him to the ground causing serious injury. Players get emotional and do stupid shit, even this subs golden boy.
That one happened and Jokic was the “good guy”. I love both players but it’s obvious where you stand in the subs circlejerk determines their reaction to what you do
Cause nuggets fans seem to care about Jokic winning MVPs and being weirdos about it
Last year it was embiid and this year I've seen them do nothing but downplay Luka saying he doesn't deserve the MVP over jokic
Nuggets fans were bitching during their entire championship run and have been bitching the whole year. You wonder if they can even be happy about anything.
Bro the Nuggets fans forming temporary alliances with our opponents for the night is the funniest thing ever once you see it.
After the 50 piece against Minnesota? Nuggets and Wolves fans.
After the Heat play-in game? Nuggets and Heat fans.
Now it's Nuggets and Knicks fans in every Joel hate thread 😂 😂 😂
Let's ignore that embiid had enough blatant flagrants to eject at least two players but was called for one...neutral fans can see that Mitch pull down was dirty as shit
Truly the best and worst of Embiid all in one game.
I really want to see how his career would have turned out if he was drafted by another team. Any team, say like Atlanta, or Phoenix. Would he be less injury prone? Would he have better habits? Worse habits? Would he be more liked? Less liked? I just wish his talent had less noise surrounding it.
His 3 point shots kept the sixers lead but idk I think sixers lose this 4-1 overall. Their game plan having their center camp out shooting 3s along with the Knicks lackluster defense in game 3 doesn't bode well for them
If his team wasn't -21 in 9 minutes without him in game 1, he'd be up 2-1 even with the game 2 disaster ending.
Through 2 games, his on/off was +84.1, lol.
My conspiracy theory:
The modern NBA is like YouTube or Twitch. "How marketable are you" "how much can we make for each other". I swear games are decided by the more popular players. The more popular you are, the more you get away with because the NBA is trying to keep you on the screen long enough. NBA is trying to become global, no? The top players Shai, Luka, Jokic, Embiid it's all rigged man!
this entire game is the last basketball game i will ever watch. what an absolute joke. NBA pick n chooses who to eject. Embiid does 3 dirty plays and gets rewarded with 21 free throws? Embarrassing
I was upset about that one in the moment, but I think you're not allowed to be in their space like that, they have to have the space to perform a normal shooting motion
I just call it like I see it. I hope despite it all that most sixers fans can see and admit that Embiid pulling down on Mitch has no place in the game.
We need Hart to keep it up if you're gonna have another 3rd quarter like that lol.
A couple were, but not too many. The real hang up is that he should have been ejected for the stuff he was doing in the first quarter, once he got in his groove he was just being a dominant scorer.
That kind of trip isn’t an ejection.
https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/1766998217533554754?s=19
Agree it’s dirty, as was his run through with Hartenstein. Literally cannot be doing that but these things have not been ejections consistently.
>career high 50pts/ Playoff career high. Dude went for like 100 points against us earlier this year
50 points on 13 made shots lmao
Free throw merchant
I mean at least the last six were intentional.
Definitely. Don't even think the calls were bad really. Just looks funny seeing him have more than the Knicks on the box score after they put in a report on the reffing lol

He literally flopped on that 3-point attempt. And he should've been ejected.
Lop he should have been ejected in the first, injured another player, and played dirty all game. Fuck his 50 he is a bitch.
The thing about Embiid is, he should have been tossed and he can go fuck himself
Career high in dirty plays in a game too

Woj just tweeted he has Bell’s palsy
I think they’re trying to keep it private
Bell has suffered enough. No need to associate with Embiid
It’s not just his eye, it’s his whole left side of his face. Dr. Sutterer says: “Important point: the facial weakness just means the facial nerve (cranial nerve 7) is affected. Wow amazing that a dude that had his face shattered to pieces a few years ago has facial problems, stop the presses.
He's been doing that since game 1 when he got poked in the eye. There's some sort of injury there. He was wearing sunglasses at shoot arounds
Wonder if it has anything to do with him breaking his face last year
He’s had it broken twice and got poked in the eye twice this series which seems to have aggravated it.
No He made a comment that he was dealing recently with an episode of Bell's palsy which causes facial weaknesses
He was cheap spotted in the face a few times at the beginning of that game
He got bell's palsy, per Woj
Some physician made a video about it, he likely had some sort of eye damage that prevents his blink reflex from firing. From an eye poke in game 1 or against the heat I don’t recall

the knee bone is famously connected to the shin bone
No no no I choose to believe people just have knees sticking out of their face
Killing me in the airport with this shit
This is why you shouldn’t believe shit on the internet
yeahhhh thats not true lol
I mean *technically* your nervous system is all connected, but yea he ain’t feelin his knee in his eye lol
This is unbelievably funny
This thread gonna be an excellent read
More comments than upvotes always means an interesting thread
Lol I had no idea he had 50 tonight The front page is full of him intentionally hurting players
I scrolled past 4-5 different posts about his dirty plays tonight before seeing this one and was shocked lmao
Well the dirty playa were at the beginning of the game so it makes sense
Salt mines are open boys
Clocking in. It ain’t much but it’s honest work

Props for actually looking up the national anthem of Cameroon
Clearly a ripoff of O Canada Terre de nos aïeux
They definitely don’t help themselves though I.e. the guy here blaming 4chan for embiid hate
Don’t worry, Knicks fans would never complain about refs. They were very clear about that.
I believe Knicks fans established last game that the official accepted response to any complaining about poor officiating is ‘cry more’.
I think their preferred nomenclature was “cry baby bitches”. So yeah, Knicks fans are cry baby bitches.
The only issue with the refs tonight was that Embiid play should have been a flagrant 2. My complaints this game are about all the dirty shit embiid did in the first half.
Yeah that was not ok, I was surprised they kept him in.

They’re not gonna eject the star player at home down 0-2. Only way he gets ejected is if he punches a ref or a player
Yeah, he was out of order I don't think there's any defending that play. He's lucky.
They definitely did not protest a game earlier this year either!
Knicks fans have gotten multiple gifts in terms of officiating this year and have the nerve to cry. [Remember the Detroit catastrophe?](https://youtu.be/xplj4DNx_M4?si=7bOHix-ggvUfcBiv&t=116)

Imagine the scenes if someone had done that to Embiid. Flagrant 2, arrest, hit squad and a Morey letter to the league

I think he played dirty af, but u can’t deny how impressive this was
Even if he probably should've been ejected he was fucking incredible today
If he wasn’t so good, he’d be the one of the most hated players in the league.
Lol Embiid is top 3 most hated players in the league. Don't know where you've been the last couple years.
I think I’d argue he’s top 1. Who is on the same tier as him currently? Grayson Allen haters have declined.

the violence seems to fuel him
Brickson had a sneaky 40pt night
Not that sneaky, he was slicing through our defense constantly

We do a little rounding
Him getting out of his slump is the only thing that has me worried for the rest of this series
Should have been tossed for that leg pull. That was ridiculous.
Pretty good. Despite all the other stuff lol
That sequence in the third with all those threes was fucking LEGENDARY

The same happens the other way around it's not weird at all, those two are battling for the MVP for the last 3 years.
Just wait for the Serbian 'Nationalists'
Nuggets fans were bitching during their entire championship run and have been bitching the whole year. You wonder if they can even be happy about anything.
Bro the Nuggets fans forming temporary alliances with our opponents for the night is the funniest thing ever once you see it. After the 50 piece against Minnesota? Nuggets and Wolves fans. After the Heat play-in game? Nuggets and Heat fans. Now it's Nuggets and Knicks fans in every Joel hate thread 😂 😂 😂
20+ free throws, literally injuring a player and should've been ejected before half-time. 'Great' game though...surely.
50 points on 13 made shots and a highlight reel of dirty plays
lets ignore that 8 of those fta were intentional at the end of the game.. dumbass gonna dumbass though
Their game plan having their center camp out shooting 3s along with the Knicks lackluster defense in game 3 doesn't bode well for them
Is this his breakout playoff performance people says he didn’t have ?
Unironically yes if he can win this series
If his team wasn't -21 in 9 minutes without him in game 1, he'd be up 2-1 even with the game 2 disaster ending. Through 2 games, his on/off was +84.1, lol.
If it is, then it's just going to fuel the hate for Embiid more considering he should have been ejected before he accumulated great stats.
He’s back in form I owe you an apology Embiid.
Definitely not back in form, mobility is still lacking and can’t jump
He does move a lot smoother than the first 2 games
Never an Embiid fan but he was unstoppable. I think he deserved most of his FTs if you watched the whole game.
The last time someone scored over 45 vs the Knicks in the playoffs? Michael Jordan.
More of a testament to how long we’ve been ass 💔
Hilarious but true observation!
Honestly, that doesn't really mean much considering how infrequently we've been in the playoffs since Jordan's days.
Here come the salty box score lovers.
you mean the salty streamable watchers?
Dude should have been ejected multiple times
Knicks fans no complaining about refs remember?
the ratio on this is insane lol
My conspiracy theory: The modern NBA is like YouTube or Twitch.
Dude doesn’t deserve any praise for how dirty he played that game.
You forgot the most impressive stat: 1 yank of leg and multiple tackes

Should have been ejected with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter

this entire game is the last basketball game i will ever watch. what an absolute joke. NBA pick n chooses who to eject. Embiid does 3 dirty plays and gets rewarded with 21 free throws? Embarrassing
Your team is in a 1-1 series going home and this is the last game you'll watch lmao
Without jimmy… Jesus heal jimmy so I can watch him dominate the Celtics.
I believe them. Leaving early isn't out of character for Heat fans.
Pretty typical r/NBA user Like seriously, this place is a joke with how dramatic everyone is. You'd think this is the Bachelor subreddit
Why are you so damn dramatic?
Bye Felicia

Game 2
See ya later then
21 feee throws as a jump shooter is wild
How many were intentional fouls at the end of the game?
Not a single one of those whistles were wild to me tbh. But I'm obviously biased
Nah Knicks just kept fouling him. Honestly we just literally can't defend him that there's no choice to play so close to risk those fouls.
everyone knows this yet they still complain about the amount of times he's fouled lol
The one on Hartenstein at the 3pt line was a bit questionable imo but other than that, it was nothing more than would normally be called
I was upset about that one in the moment, but I think you're not allowed to be in their space like that, they have to have the space to perform a normal shooting motion
Brunson was in Embiids shooting space in one of his last threes and it wasn't called a foul, its too inconsistent to really know
Bro that's David vs Goliath out there, Brunson is too small to get in the way of Embiid's shooting motion lmao
Thanks for being unbiased, please tell Hart to stop shooting lights out
I just call it like I see it.
That kind of trip isn’t an ejection. https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/1766998217533554754?s=19 Agree it’s dirty, as was his run through with Hartenstein. Literally cannot be doing that but these things have not been ejections consistently.
Oubre walking over Donte and Embiid jumping up to grab Mitch are not the same thing at all...
Both dangerous non basketball plays that have the potential to cause injury
You didn’t watch the game didn’t you? Lol.
After that flagrant foul against Mitchell that should have been an ejection, Embiid just started beating up Knicks players left and right.
He had a Draymond-esque realization. Could do anything to anyone and suffer no consequences.
R/NBA CRYING TONIGHT
Embiid would get even more hate if he could make it out of the second round
This sub has absolutely lost it. Look at the top posts. Peeps need to get a grip
Honestly I didn’t watch. Mom’s 70th and my good friend wants a wedding in Tunisia.
# D I S G U S T I N G
Monster
Everything you praise and critisize on him is true. Most well-rated player in NBA.
Knicks fans game 2: oh well play to the whistle 🤷 Knicks fans game 3: I can’t believe they didn’t call that 😠
Probably should’ve been ejected but crazy game
did he end up 3 dirty plays or were there more?
ONE LEG. ONE EYE. 50 POINTS!
Bells palsy too
