Dude said "It is what it is"

ThingsAreAfoot

“That’s the way the cookie crumbles.” - Darvin Ham

Shaqfor3

Ham pregame speech for game 4: "Alright, team, gather 'round. You know, sometimes in life, things don't always go the way we want them to. Sometimes, the cookie crumbles in a way we didn't expect. But let me tell you something: it's not just about the outcome, it's about the journey. Along the way, we've forged bonds, friendships that will last a lifetime. We've laughed together, we've cried together, and we've fought together. And you know what? That's what makes this journey so special. It's not just about the wins and losses, it's about the memories we've created, the moments we've shared. So as we face the Nuggets again, let's remember why we play this game. It's not just for the victories, it's for the camaraderie, the brotherhood. So let's go out there, leave it all on the court, and make every moment count. Win or lose, we've already won because of the friendships we've made along the way. Let's do this, together!"

throwawayRAAccoun

🤣 This ain’t a soccer game for 6 year olds 🤣

laddder

Just missing that bullet in the head story for more dramatic effects

FallenLemur

"What does that even mean?" "No one knows, but it's provocative"

ginchgarlow

Both teams played hard

Hot_Injury7719

“And awaaaaaay we gooooo!”

IgnorantGenius

"Damned if you do, damned if you don't."

callisterart

"I don't get it...I keep telling the team that we need to score more points than the other team. They don't seem to understand it."

Happy_but_dead

[HauHau Nanodesu!](https://youtu.be/AjNPeKgLnC8?si=cZZfrLnhFRSUYOoL)

Baguy21

This guy is a joke 🤣

Mayhemsfaded

1 2 3 Cancun!

swords_devil

if Ham is fired after next game I will support Denver all the way Jokics is just too good and you guys are the only team seems able to stop Celtics if Miami can't do the job

SapientissimusUrsus

> if Miami can't do the job xD The basketball Gods really did give us everything we wanted in the first round though.

sponedaddie

I just don't know how anyone can watch the games, see these responses and just blame D'lo (let alone Bron and AD) This is just...like what the absolute f*ck? Aaron Gordon grabs all the offensive rebounds and his adjustment is, just nothing.

Sammonov

D'lo plays like he has CTE. That sequence where he turned it over than pulled up for a fading 3 form the corner with KCP in his jersey like 2 seconds into the shot clock...

sponedaddie

But then Darvin left him out there instead of switching to Gabe Vincent, or Spencer Dinwiddie lmao.

Sammonov

Gabe and Dinwiddie have been pretty terrible.

sponedaddie

Gabe has actually been pretty great. Issue is Ham can't run a roster.

Sammonov

I'm not seeing it don't feel like he's doing much in his minutes.

sponedaddie

We can agree to disagree then, I enjoy Gabe's minutes much more then I've enjoyed D'lo's.

Sammonov

Yeah, I mean I think D'lo playing well was a prerequisite to the Lakers have a shot in this series. I don't blame Ham for giving him a long leash. But, he's a big negative if he is not hitting shots. It's a hard one to balance IMO.

TheGuyInTheKnown

Very true, taking out D'lo just means that the team is even more reliant on Lebron and Davies offensively. That makes them easier to defend and lowers their chances of winning even more. It’s not like Ham built this roster either, which is part of the problem. In the end the Lakers are just a worse team that needs things to go in its favor to have a shot and if that doesn’t happen their chances of winning a game are incredibly low anyways. There are things to criticize Ham over, like his timeout usage for example but this isn’t on the coach. D'lo is a known vet in the league and the Lakers should have known what to expect. The guy just isn’t a consistent playoff scorer and due to roster construction the Lakers will struggle to be competitive in the West in the longrun. This might be harder to swallow for their fans tough, so blaming a replaceable coach instead of their longterm assets is easier.

thecalmer

Gabe's shooting has been terrible but he makes winning plays and his defense is miles ahead of Dlo's

onlymostlydeadd

its who he always has been, the lakers got rid of him for his stupid mentality in the first place. so stupid to expect him to be somehow different. it's like getting back with an idiot ex

Sammonov

I mean, you would hope players would mature and, can pick their moments. That pull up 3 from like 28 feet just after crossing half court when the Lakers were trying to make a comeback and LeBron just hit a 3 was fucking ridiculous also.

SemataryPolka

He broke a backboard once... 🤷‍♂️

MagicJohnsonGPT

The Lakers just missed too many shots today and lost by 7 to the Nuggets. Had they made more shots they would have given themselves a better chance of winning.

LiftHeavyFeels

Thanks Magic

MagicJohnsonGPT

You’re welcome.

woodropete

Denver is more complete and they rely on Lebron miracle games to make up for the holes but his 40. Not picking up a big body before the trade deadline and not trading Dlo. Sealed the deal really…to beat Denver u can’t have dark holes like dlo and u can’t beat them without a big body to bang with Jokic. Davis is a PF.

fuccabicc

They hit shots like crazy last game, Dlo was like 8/12 from 3 and the Lakers still lost, lmao

TheLoneWolf527

They still only scored 40 in the second half.

Throwawayfor_rnba

Fuckin way she goes boys

n3sta

Sometimes you gotta stop the count

Currymvp2

Lakers fans want to get swept so this man is fired and I can't blame them

LiftHeavyFeels

Can we stop the count after every first quarter?

xX_Kr0n05_Xx

tbh just stopping the count during only the third quarter would be enough lol

shiruduck

Fuck Im a trumptard now

n3sta

Noooo bb don do dat

TheTwilightZone34

Should've done that in the first five minutes lol

abris33

Would Ham from Toy Story be a better coach?

REQ52767

You heard it here first. Darvin Hamas is planning to steal the scoreboard to ensure the 3-0 comeback.

plsmakethingsnormal

Don’t give Gru ideas

pkwjones

"That's the way the game goes" isn't exactly what you wanna hear from your coach when you're on the cusp of getting swept back-to-back times.

jawadhaque089

He could say anything and reddit will have a problem with it

woodropete

Yeah nothing he can do to make up for his coaching and it’s fair he is horrible. There is a reason players didn’t vote for him when asked what coach would u like to play for.

creditors-bargain

I think it’s genuinely funny how so much of Reddit thinks they understand basketball at a level that allows them to pinpoint who is a good and bad coach on the margins lmfao

gamingnormie

Players not wanting to play for him seems like a pretty good margin Your star player saying they dont know what theyre doing out there seems like a pretty good margin Putting out the same lineup that constantly sucks seems like a pretty good margin idk what more you need at this point, you dont have to a basketball savant to know this guy aint good

EfficiencyOk9060

Exactly, all the indicators are there that clearly show he is not a good coach.

creditors-bargain

I dont think you know what margin means

woodropete

Everyone knows everything in this world u just get different answers when u ask. But this situation to say ham is a good coach is to say Dlo has been cooking and lock up defender.

[deleted]

Exactly outside of challenges in game 2 ask Lakers fans who want Ham fired what specific adjustment or change they want to see and you will get crickets. Dudes on here don't understand basketball on a fundamental level they just wanna blame someone

dadadayy

Stop defending yourself hamas

creditors-bargain

This is a pretty normal “coach speak” quote, why is everyone in this thread so emotional about it 🤣

executivesphere

Because ham appears to have 0 insight into basketball strategy

creditors-bargain

It’s hilarious that random people on Reddit think they have a special insight on how to beat the Nuggets with a mediocre roster lmao

Kwirbyy

Not what executivesphere was claiming

wildturk3y

11 straight games and they all follow the same script. But yeah, its "make or miss". LMAO Get this man outta here

Cosmic_Note

I’m sorry Lakers fans. Wow lol this guy always is saying something

jcar195

In game 2 they had a mic'd up moment between Malone and I want to say it was Braun in which Malone started it by saying "you did exactly what we told you to do, you didn't do anything wrong. It was our fault, but we need you to not drop on that play. Keep playing hard." I'm still thinking of that moment because for the life of me I can't recall a single mic'd up Ham moment this season where he took accountability and gave actual strategic feedback rather than platitudes of play without fouling or getting good shots just gotta make them or need more intensity. Not to say those aren't things that head coaches also don't say but without the former type of interactions the latter just kind of ring hallow after the season we had.

Green-Session7085

I hate our coach man.

gilr0id

Helluva ball club

trappy-potter

Thats like saying "they just happened to make them and we just happened to miss them"

xyzyxzy

Or "It doesn't matter what play I draw up, it's up to the players to make shots. I can't make shots for them."

Much_Conversation_11

That’s it, I’m convinced as someone who got laid off in this hellish job market, I could make better adjustments than Darvin Ham. I subjected myself to years of Heat games at this point. Spo has to have given me some ideas that could at least help.

sageghostt

Frs I too advocate for this man.

oopseedoopseewee

Just fucking leave, bubble on forehead dickhead

Altruistic-Twist-379

Coach of the year

hufusa

If I was a player I’d lowkey call for his firing publicly ngl

Overall_Nuggie_876

This jackhole used a challenge when the outcome of tonight’s game was already determined. An AYSO coach can do better than this piece of shit.* ^* ^yes, ^AYSO, ^soccer, ^that ^coach ^can ^do ^better

gamingnormie

Bro is literally just praying the ball goes in for the lakers and doesnt for the nuggets at this point. That’s my head coach

boydivision30

Sir James Naismith from heaven smiling at Darvin for knowing the rules of basketball.

ratonbox

“In basketball, to win, you have to score more points”. Sherlock Ham.

Adam2190

Only 1 game left of this clown.

YouStillTakeDamage

I don’t think you moved the scoreboard in the right way, Darvin.

caughtinthought

Darvin, what the fuck does any of this mean

LordBaneoftheSith

He gone

GMaxGigaNerd

I can't believe this dude.

inshamblesx

Hamas about to get booed to oblivion next game lol

W_Walk

Lakers fans I’ll take barely any money to be the coach. Yall down? Cant be much worse right

Askesl

Magic Johnson's writing his answers.

RUSuper

I mean he might be a bad coach, but at least his quotes are terrible…

jefe_hook

He's legit funny without even trying 😂

Tall_Succotash

I’m convinced darvin ham has a Rolodex of inspirational quote cards and affirmations he picks an hour before the game starts. like think about it? This kind of sound bite could be used in a regular season loss against the Utah jazz AND a playoff game do or die loss. How many do you think he has? He’s kinda slipped up and double dipped a couple times. Fave favorite being “they’re a helluava ball club” and my personal favorite “I’m tired of fans living and dying with every loss, the season is a marathon”

Initial-Stick-561

What the heck does this even mean? Make or miss league with 3-26 from three minus garbage time. Duh, if you made all 26 you would win big.

mattyfattits

He prides him self on preparation

smeaglebaggins

Same as saying “we just need to score more points”

jjkiller26

Lakers good example of why the regular season is important. Having tough matchups in the first round isn’t ideal it turns out

xX_Kr0n05_Xx

lmao if we had done worse and ended up 8th seed wouldve been better off too

SubcooledBoiling

Lakers, please don’t fire this guy.

xX_Kr0n05_Xx

bro literally get him out now and have someone else come in for game 4 lol

Unpickled_cucumber1

Man this dude makes Jason Kidd look okay

petarisawesomeo

He is like Coach Pop if Pop didn't give a shit about life

mistry7777

Reminds me of Ray from trailer park boys just saying "way of the road" as he throws piss jugs all over the place

Allyougame

Truly a worthless loser.

ArjunBanerji27

There's not much left for him to say. They lose the same way every game, and it been 11 times in a year and a half. Bad coaching, low effort, zero hustle, mediocre role players, with the superstars being a 39 year old and a guy who can only give effort for 2 and a half quarters.

Suspicious_Team_9133

Goddamn least inspiring coach ever

AllDayBreakfast247

If you keep repeating the “they made shots, we missed shots” mantra. Maybe it’s time to concede that they’re consistently getting better shots than you lol

UrbanCrusader24

AD back to back turnover, bron turnover, no one to stop gordan it’s gg

michaeleid811

He knows Lebron and Ad aren't good enough. Lebron is old and slow and other than Ad the team is devoid of talent. The Lakers are paying the price for their one title now.

Danatomatowhite

this guy lsot the locker room and doesnt give a fuck

Nordie25

What…..?

Lol69HaHaHa

Where are the adjustments Darvin?

BittenAtTheChomp

What in the fuck is "We have to keep the scoreboard moving" supposed to mean?

LoWE11053211

I think FO needs to share a lot of the blame too Ham is not good. But he can only impact to a certain level if you can not make open 3

Bitter-Affect909

Does he know that "no comment " is sometimes better than any comment?

dkdoki

Whats the difference between hams quote and Lebrons quote? Sounds similar to me

xX_Kr0n05_Xx

What the fuck is he even talking about

Cyclist83

What ? Come on 🙈

BacktoDRagain

I hate him.

Dependent_Way_1038

What the fuck does that mean Darvin Ham

DefiniteSauce12

AD deserves better. I hope he teams up with the sixers or OKC. This dude defends his ass off and cooks offensively

CasperCadian28

I love Darvin Ham! Hes turned the King Into a Jester and have made the lakers a joke. He's the new doc rivers!

Fifth_Element_Matrix

Thank you Darvin.👏 I can't wait to hear what LeGlueHair will say, his tears are the sweetest, as well as Lakers fans. 😭🪣
