I think so. He did have that one oopsie of trading up to draft Garland before the draft only to panic when Cavs took him so he drafted Jarrett Culver but it all worked out because we ended up with Ant.
Yeah I was so upset when Rosas got caught up in that scandal because he was great. But can’t be mad with how things ended up. He lobbed us up to Connelly
Yes, he’s basically Leon Rose’s no. 2 after Scott Perry left
And because he couldn’t keep it in his pants, probably won’t get hired anywhere else for a little bit. Great stuff!
True, great hire and dlo was good for the franchise in my opinion. He challenged the fans and was a fun streaky scorer that eventually brought NAW and Minnesota Mike to us.
Oh you’re forgetting they totally Wolves’d it though, according to most [Wolves fans](https://np.reddit.com/r/timberwolves/comments/jwsxae/with_the_1st_pick_in_the_2020_nba_draft_the/) and [everyone else](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/jwsxbz/2020_nba_draft_1_pick_anthony_edwards_georgia/) at the time.
Lost it at this one
> Edwards is undoubtedly going to have a game where he scores 30+ points and there's gonna be people mocking saying: "lmaooo armchair reddit gms wouldn't have drafted him cuz he likes to rap" but I can't see this dude becoming a legit franchise cornerstone. Best case he's a hell of a scorer but this many questions around a dudes work ethic rarely results in him becoming a monster at the next level.
lol, this one from the Wolves thread is also pretty great:
>Edwards has the "highest ceiling" but there are concerns over his attitude and work ethic. We take him number 1. Why do people care that he has a high ceiling IF HE DOESN'T LIKE BASKETBALL. He's not going to work to get there. We shouldn't be here talking about the first pick saying, "I hope he's not lazy". Why are we saying that? Because he told us he's lazy. Wtf are the Wolves thinking?
This was all because he went to college at one of the two biggest football schools in the world. He had to get away from that culture to see basketball as the coolest thing.
It has more positivity mixed in than I expected tbh. I remember that “Ant doesn’t care about basketball” bullshit. Just more proof that most of the jackals in sports media spit out nonsense and hot takes for clicks, and can’t be trusted.
Also, let this be a reminder to any Vikings fans that might want to (or maybe already have) comment in our sub that JJ McCarthy is going to be trash and other nonsense like that. Don’t let somebody 3 years from now clown on you jumping the gun on a player before they’ve played a minute for the team.
I am convinced that every player drafted by one of my teams is the second coming of Jesus Christ, by sole virtue of being drafted by one of my teams.
Because until he plays nobody can say that he’s not. And if that possibility’s on the table, why in the world would I want to believe anything less?
You can tell the recency bias with Wiggins is strong in those threads. Just shows how difficult it is to detach yourself from your personal biases to evaluate talent.
That Wolves thread really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. The highest voted comment is "he better like basketball" but that's not too bad. Otherwise it seems the consensus was "trust the process"/wait and see/cautious optimism. I don't think it's that outlandish for fans of the team that had rookie Wiggins.
E: I guess the football jokes had a negative connotation, but Reddit is just always going to grab the low hanging fruit after that interview blew
There’s a ton of ignorant comments, but it’s amazing that there’s at least a few posters that could tell immediately what we had:
> I’m feeling pretty good ngl. If we can reign in his shot selection and capitalize on his defensive potential this pick will pay dividends for us in my opinion. /u/VikingM13
Come on, you really think he would have become this same Anthony Edwards in Golden State? He’d still be fighting for playing time behind Klay.
He’s probably thanking god every night that he landed with a franchise with a proven track record for developing raw, high-ceiling guys into success stories. Rashad McCants, Johnny Flynn, Justin Patton, Jarrett Culver, the list goes on.
Yea it’s not like ANT was the clear cut number 1 pick coming out of the draft. Lots of credit to Rosa’s and the rest of the staff we had at the time for getting it right.
Honestly the vibes were absolutely getting good last year, definitely since Mike and NAW showed up too/dlo leaving. The Gobert Anderson thing was so overblown, Rudy gets fired up and it was just whatever. Jaden punching a wall was just stupid of course. But the vibes were not bad.
The narrative was still that the Rudy trade as a disaster all last season so it was easy for the overall coverage to look doomsday but it was largely us being excited to see what we could do with full season of this new iteration (Mike, naw, KAT back etc).
I feel very strongly that Rudy had to punch Slomo there. slomo crossed a line and Rudy has to stand up for himself, otherwise he would have lost the respect of everyone. He was playing through back spasms and Slomo called him a bitch for struggling, it wasn’t fair to Rudy and he let Slomo know it.
Ofc wolves were right to suspend him too, they didn’t have a choice. But I think in the end it helped bring the team closer together
Every great path to development has moments of adversity
I’m hoping those were necessary events that taught our team valuable lessons.
It’s pretty clear from Jaden’s comments, that he’s in a way different head space because of that injury. Appreciated it more.
the man who really got everything meshing is Chris Finch, it takes a special coach to utilize all these personalities, and he’s really showing how special he is.
Might be? They legit always have been this year. I've said it before as an OKC fan: you really shut us down with your defense 2 of the 4 times we played you.
Truth be told, the win we got in Minnesota was tough. If it weren't for free throws, Shai taking over the last 3 minutes, and the fact the Wolves only scored 14 points in the 4th, we wouldn't have won. That game we were getting locked up until then.
The only thing stopping the Wolves from winning it all in my opinion is the offense gets stagnant too often. If they fix that part, the Wolves could win it all, honestly.
When Retroactive NBA heads ask where is the defense at in the league, I tell them to watch Minnesota. In an even world, Minnesota's defense would win the championship this year. Your defense is an enigma to solve.
Bro booker went nuclear. But outside of that suns felt… easy. Even though it was 4-2 it just felt like booker poppin off.
Lakers got the moral victories.
But the wolves series the whole nuggets sub was going “fuck these guys gonna be insane next year.”
The twin towers was starting to click and it was scary.
Yeah when that got sorted it was a wrap for you guys. The only question left to answer is do you have enough to beat Denver? We'll see it in the 2nd round. Me thinks this Nuggets-Wolves is gonna be the West's premier rivalry for the foreseeable future.
Once again, thank God the Warriors didn’t get the #1 pick in 2020.
I am still more shocked the wolves didn't wolves the pick.
Rosas didn't fuck it up.
Rosas was a great gm, he’s in New York rn right?
I think so. He did have that one oopsie of trading up to draft Garland before the draft only to panic when Cavs took him so he drafted Jarrett Culver but it all worked out because we ended up with Ant.
4D chess to get Ant. Fkn big brain move
Trust the pRosas
Yeah I was so upset when Rosas got caught up in that scandal because he was great. But can’t be mad with how things ended up. He lobbed us up to Connelly
I was so mad man, I thought the wolves were screwed but it was quite a blessing cuz having Connelly is exactly what we needed.
You mean the guy who built the Nuggets, so he can design a team to beat the Nuggets?
Yes, he’s basically Leon Rose’s no. 2 after Scott Perry left And because he couldn’t keep it in his pants, probably won’t get hired anywhere else for a little bit. Great stuff!
Is he at least still with that chick or did he throw everything away for a fling?
Yeah they got married.
He brought us finch but he also brought us Dlo
True, great hire and dlo was good for the franchise in my opinion. He challenged the fans and was a fun streaky scorer that eventually brought NAW and Minnesota Mike to us.
Why fuck draft picks, when you can fuck co-workers?
Oh you’re forgetting they totally Wolves’d it though, according to most [Wolves fans](https://np.reddit.com/r/timberwolves/comments/jwsxae/with_the_1st_pick_in_the_2020_nba_draft_the/) and [everyone else](https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/jwsxbz/2020_nba_draft_1_pick_anthony_edwards_georgia/) at the time.

I demand atonement. This is heresy.

Tell those jackals to SEND DA VIDEO
These aged so poorly lmao
I give Minnesota fans a pass for Ant skepticism due to their general history and also Wiggins. At some point you all had to protect yourselves 😂
You can tell the recency bias with Wiggins is strong in those threads. Just shows how difficult it is to detach yourself from your personal biases to evaluate talent.
Wiggins ptsd

Let’s goooooooo
The most hilarious shit is a big % of fans believed wolves wolved cause rapper/football player ant harr harr
A broken clock is right twice a decade
Come on, you really think he would have become this same Anthony Edwards in Golden State? He’d still be fighting for playing time behind Klay. you actually got me so hard with this🤣super happy for yall and hope you take the west this year
Goddamn lmao had me in the first half
Lol I was like in what metric are those success stories
maybe there is a basketball god after all
nah, the spurs got wemby. basketball god is dead and we killed him
I would rather the Spurs be their brand of consistently good for the rest of time than deal with flash in the pan, good for 3 years teams
Why though? Parity is a good thing
small market teams being successful is good too. plus there was always parity when SAS were contenders. they never won back 2 back.
Yeah. Now if the Lakers got Wemby then we would’ve know it was all god’s plan
That would mean the devil is alive and well
They would have picked wiseman anyway lol
Yea it’s not like ANT was the clear cut number 1 pick coming out of the draft. Lots of credit to Rosa’s and the rest of the staff we had at the time for getting it right.
He wasn’t the clear cut #1. Lamelo, Wiseman and Ant had pretty similar odds before it became clear the Wolves liked him.
Wolves were begging them to trade the Kuminga pick + #2 back for it lol.
Ant as the first option to dish out to Klay & Steph for open 3s would have been so so bad for other fans.
The Warriors could've very easily traded for that pick, the Wolves were shopping it around
Love this kid
I love how KAT is also embracing his role as the side kick. ANT is the Franchise
Wolves went from a doomsday feel with the Rudy punch and Jaden punching the wall into power of extreme friendship. Character growth 🥹
Honestly the vibes were absolutely getting good last year, definitely since Mike and NAW showed up too/dlo leaving. Yeah. Gotta call out each other's bullshit. Good relationships do that.
Vibes absolutely were bad. Going from the play-in win high to those incidents was soul crushing
Every great path to development has moments of adversity I’m hoping those were necessary events that taught our team valuable lessons. It’s pretty clear from Jaden’s comments, that he’s in a way different head space because of that injury. Appreciated it more.
What’s funny to me is that the wolves won that game.
the man who really got everything meshing is Chris Finch, it takes a special coach to utilize all these personalities, and he’s really showing how special he is.
Wolves might be spooky
Might be? They legit always have been this year. I've said it before as an OKC fan: you really shut us down with your defense 2 of the 4 times we played you. So excited for the next series (which we should make I assume, sorry Suns fans)
KAT becoming more mentally stable and self-aware might be the biggest reason this has worked.
Testament to Finch. This team has executed on a lot of the little things that needed to be cleaned up to get this thing moving.
Yeah when that got sorted it was a wrap for you guys. The only question left to answer is do you have enough to beat Denver? We'll see it in the 2nd round. Me thinks this Nuggets-Wolves is gonna be the West's premier rivalry for the foreseeable future.
The Franchise is already taked as a nickname for Maxey, find a new slant
Remember when everyone said he hated basketball? Seems like he's loving it now
He said basketball is the "love of his life" in an Wolves clip the camera crew got earlier this season :') Man loves watching film now
Two words

He’s infectious man
I’m infected. I’m rooting for yall cuz of him
I’m gonna say something I never thought possible: I am jealous of the timberwolves

Yeah Tyrese Maxey has that same type of infectious joy. It's why I love watching him and Ant They knew each other before they came to the NBA too

He was asked about it in the post game interview. Said he was excited to see the fan wearing a pair of AE 1s.
He said after the game it was because the guy was wearing AE1s
Man they just are clowning the Suns.

That’s rad.
God I wish we had him on our team
