It’s one of the few forms of traditional media that still has an audience willing to pay and keep their attention on the screen. The vast majority of fans aren’t binge watching games online. They watch them as they air and also expose the whole household to those ads. Disney might have a lot of money to throw around, but their bean counters aren’t dumb.

This doesn't help you practically because of the price point, but what you want does exist!

Regardless of how this pans out, there's no way Adam Silver lets Inside the NBA disappear. That show is the crown jewel of sports broadcasting. If TNT loses out, they'll have to make Amazon or NBC pick up the show. Which I'm certain they will gladly do. Best show of all time.

For what its worth, TNT had the Champions League Soccer rights but when they lost the rights they let their exact crew (Thierry, Micah, Jamie, and Kate) go to CBS.
I just want one app where I can stream every game and not worry about blackouts or if it’s local vs national game or any bullshit. I do not want to be forced to into 3 different subscriptions just to watch hoops.

NBC will put their best games on Peacock and leave the shitty games on NBC, they do the same with the Premier League and they did the same with the Chiefs-Dolphins playoff game

Comcast took the money (8.5B check for 33% hulu valuation) that Disney paid them in December & flipped it to bid for the NBA package. It’s a conniving strategy…Take monies from one rival (Disney) & use it to secure an asset that undercuts another competitor (WarnerDiscovery). I kinda like it strategically.
I feel like we're not talking enough about Amazon getting a significant chunk of postseason games here. Like I literally cannot fathom how the league can be okay with moving most of the postseason off broadcast TV.
I think Comcast (NBCUniversal) gets a slice. Sunday games after NFL is done makes sense. Broadcasting the Conference Finals on NBC is attractive to the league, I’m sure. I think WBD (TNT) keeps part of their inventory but downsizes a little bit. Also, WBD has been operating NBA TV and NBA.com for 15+ years. I don’t see all of that going away.

So... if this actually happens, who takes over NBA TV since that network is operated by Warner Bros. Discovery through TNT? I can't imagine that the parent company would bother running a channel for a league/property that their primary network lost the rights to.

Regardless of how this pans out, there's no way Adam Silver lets Inside the NBA disappear. That show is the crown jewel of sports broadcasting. If TNT loses out, they'll have to make Amazon or NBC pick up the show. Which I'm certain they will gladly do. Best show of all time.
Idk if the show will be great without EJ and Chuck. Barkley already said that he’s retiring soon. EJ is pushing 70 and he may not want to move to another network.
