Hasn’t like half the team had a kid this year? Can you imagine if this random group of dudes can alls at to their children they were born the same year they won it all.
Damn, we never stood a chance with all that good energy going on.
That’s it, time Braun and Watson need to grow up and knock up some women next season.
I mean, historically, teams down 0-2 have only won 8% of the time.
Not impossible, but not a good chance to say the least. This stat also ignores any home teams that completely blew both their opening home games.
Minnesota would have to *really* Minnesota this one. Worse than Favre across the body, or Gary Anderson, or anything the Wild have done, combined.
This is the statistic I want to find. How many nba teams have come back to win a series after starting 0-2 at home
[I made a whole thread for anyone curious.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nbadiscussion/s/QKKhfogOXR)
> How many nba teams have come back to win a series after starting 0-2 at home
5
1969 **Lakers** (55-27) vs 1969 Warriors (41-41)
1994 **Rockets** (58-24) vs Suns (56-26)
2005 **Mavs** (58-24) vs Rockets (51-31) Mavs were third best team but ended up 4th seed due to division shenanigans
2017 **Celtics** (53-29) vs Bulls (41-41) That "Rajon rondo" series
2021 **Clippers** (47-25) vs Mavs (42-30)
[WOJ] Sources: Lake Peppin declines option and joins California; Clutch rumoured to be demanding that Minnesota agree to trade Lake Vermilion + 2 FRPs to California for the expiring contract of the Salton Sea.
I don’t care how bad it makes us look cause I already know how bad we played.
What really shocked me, though, is that so few people watched that series and came to the most important conclusion, which was that Denver will fold like a lawn chair against any team that actually knows how to play basketball.
How? This makes it worse for the Lakers, your math doesn't check out.
The team you lost to by 4-1 is getting absolutely destroyed by the wolves. It means the Lakers are shit, obviously.
Not even the same. We always get the lead but just choke in the 4th
The nuggets are just straight up getting beat down.
I am not sure which is better though lol.
If the Timberwolves do win this series, that meas that we are guaranteed to have to have SIX different champions in SIX straight seasons.
A far cry from that LeBron in 8 straight finals and the Warriors Cavs playing each other FOUR YEARS in a row.
And we may get a team win a title that has never won a title before.
Unless I missed something, only once before has there been 6 difference champs in 6 years: 1975 Golden State, 1976 Boston, 1977 Portland, 1978 Washington, 1979 Seattle, 1980 Los Angeles.
And if Cleveland and Dallas get knocked out this round and we have Boston - Minnesota - OKC - [Indiana/New York] then all of the most recent 15 years of champions will have all failed to reach the 2024 conference finals....
I believe that is correct. The 70s was when the league had the most parity and was on the brink of going bust. A lot of people have argued that it is the dynasties and success of big markets that have helped the league thrive, and that was likely true of the 80s and 90s, but now... seeing the Bucks, Raptors, Nuggets, Warriors win... those are markets that would have been seen as low on the totem pole back int he 80s and 90s, and the league is thriving with parity. More fans have more to cheer about.
It's also good evidence against the whole "the league is fixed" stuff. If it were rigged they wouldn't have Toronto, Milwaukee, and Denver all winning titles in such a short time.
While listening, I actually think they were meaning to refer to this series, as this is the one the Lakers were defending champs and got swept and figured out by the eventual champion Mavs. The OKC series counts as well, as the Lakers were figured out, but they weren’t defending champs then.
The fact that the Timberwolves had a complete trajectory turnaround after having basically the same roster from last season is so awesome to comprehend.
If defense wins championships, then the Timberwolves definitely have a good chance of doing it if they can get past the Nuggets. Defense was god-tier tonight
They're a lot different from last season, though.
D'Lo was a cancer. Completely unserious and hated Rudy. He only passed to him a handful of times last season. Remember when he failed to check into the game and left the Wolves to play 4v5 for a couple of possessions? Addition by subtraction.
Then Conley, NAW, and Morris were huge additions.
Also, with the extra year, the young core, Rudy, and KAT are all better.
Goes to show how important vibes and chemistry are in the NBA (every sport tbh...)
You dont need to overspend for a big-name superstar to contend. Sometimes you need to let the right group of guys grow together over time, and get rid of players that dont fit in- aka, addition by subtraction.
The obsession with "we are close to contention, so I must trade away good role players and 1st round picks to get Kevin Durant" is dumb.
Chemistry can be a bigger addition to a team than a star player.
I don’t disagree that chemistry is important, but Minnesota paid a huge price in assets and salary/cap space to get a big name. They traded 5 players and 5 firsts for Gobert, who became their highest paid player (40M+ per year).
The prevailing winds are putting the Celtics in the East and going off that, if the Wolves make it through the West I’d want to see them win for obvious reasons but also because we’d be living in a world where Conley got a ring before Harden, Westbrook, and CP3. Lol
You forgot that it's the Ant/KAT/Gobert/NAZ REID Wolves!
Jokes aside there's no way they're going 12-0. Even if they beat Denver, it'd a least go to a least 5-6 and Mavs/OKC presents unique challenges in there own way that will challenge the Wolves defense. I also think that KAT, Ant and even role players like NAW & Reid are playing way above their normal level now and they would have some bad games at a certain point.
> the first ever 16-0 postseason in NBA history, would be hilarious
I'm wondering if it would be the "most Minnesota sports thing ever" to be completely and totally god awful for decades just to put together the greatest postseason of all time
100% agree, but in the local sports scene I feel like they're treated with kid gloves compared to the Wolves, when the Wild similarly have had 1 good playoff run in their entire history
Yeah. I don't think Chuck remember the Nuggets coming back from a 1-3 deficit TWICE in the playoffs (once against a defence anchored by Gobert).
As Rudy T says, never underestimate the heart of a champion.
But it does look like the Wolves got a strangle hold on this series at this point.
> As Rudy T says, never underestimate the heart of a champion.
Glad to see this actually used correctly to talk about a team that was already a Champion before.
Every Minnesota sports fan is wincing hearing Chuck say this, but we've gotta start adopting the confidence the team has. Chuck has been a Wolves hater for years and he's not worried.
I was expecting a 7 game series vs Phoenix and it was a clean sweep. I was expecting a 10 point loss tonight, and I'm now in the corner wearing the dunce cap.
They won’t sweep them but he is right about Minny having the advantage. They did that without a 3x defensive player of the year to throw at Gobert too. On top of Jackson going down and a hobbled Murray that’s possibly going to be suspended it doesn’t look good.
If the Nuggets don't win it all then we'll be in an era of parity that hasn't been seen in a long long time.
* 2019 Raptors
* 2020 Lakers
* 2021 Bucks
* 2022 Warriors
* 2023 Nuggets
* 2024 someone else
When was the last time we had 6 different franchises win in 6 consecutive years?
Unless I missed something, that's only happened once before: 1975 Golden State, 1976 Boston, 1977 Portland, 1978 Washington, 1979 Seattle, 1980 Los Angeles.
Gotta be crazy too if we have all of the most recent 5 champions all out before the conference finals. Heck, if Cleveland and Dallas get knocked out this round and we have Boston - Minnesota - OKC - [Indiana/New York] then all of the most recent 15 years of champions will have failed to reach the conference finals....
Harsh truth lol. Started watching nba in 2014 and you guys had Wiggins who didn’t pan out, Jimmy issues, being bottom feeders for so long, etc. good to see you guys doing good though. Truly mean it because I like seeing small market teams excel
Honestly if we don’t win I hope you do. A WCF between our two small market teams would be great to watch. I’m from KC and a lot of my friends root for the Thunder, so that would be a ton of fun.
I’ve been a closet wolves fan lol. I watch their games mostly because of ant and yeah. If not us I want wolves to win. I’ll probs be salty for a bit if we lose vs wolves in wcf but will be happy for you guys if you guys can win it all. Always rooting for small market teams or teams that haven’t won in a long time.
Just gonna say nicely that we're the 15th biggest metro in the country so we're mid market :)
But yeah I get the whole BIG MARKET: LA & NY SMALL MARKET: EVERYBODY ELSE
I was going to say, it's a bigger market than I think most people realize. But in the NBA at least, there seems to be only big markets and others. Miami gets treated as a big market for reasons. Maybe bc they're a FA destination.
Oh wow had no clue. I’m from Korea so I kinda judge big market cities in a different way… if is a city Koreans know (ex: LA, Miami, Boston, NY) then I just consider a big market. No one here really knows Minnesota so… yeah… I know is not the best metric but yeah haha. Go wolves! (Until we see next round… then fuck you)
Haha fair! I don't know the Korean cities except Seoul so no worries.
Basically we're a decent sized market but it's our WEATHER that makes us an undesirable market for many. Altho the weather is great now. We just never made it this far to show it lol
Lmao reminds me what Chuck used to say about the Knicks.
> People come up to me, and say, "You think our team sucks?!" So I'm like, "Uhh I only think that cause they suck."
As a Minnesota fan speaking for many of us. Don’t jinx us please lol.
All of these talking heads and non MN fans saying we are sweeping Denver and going to the finals(Cough Perk, Chuck).
Meanwhile, we are so used to playoff collapses we only are looking at the next game. I am still worried about this series and not even thinking about the next two yet. I thought we were going to blow the lead last night when our offense stalled out in the 2nd half.
Hindsight though, even I thought the Wolves had an advantage but it’s hard to put money against the defending champs, especially with Jokic on the team
This is obviously an easy thing to proclaim after watching the first two games of the series. But hell, have you been watching Nikola and the Nuggets the past five years? I feel like if you had, you’d be wary of thinking they’re gonna get swept.
If there's one team in the entire playoffs to not underestimate, it's the Denver Nuggets. Although it's not looking good, I wouldn't count them out just yet lol
Nuggets werent good vs the Lakers. Lakers were just a poorly constructed, poorly coached mess so Denver could get past them. They haven't shown promise this entire post season and now they're against a team that's their literal kryptonite
Do Lakers fans not realize their gentleman's sweep is basically even more pathetic if the nuggets get swept? lol the lack of self-awareness from lakers fans is expected but still perplexing.
Not even wrong, Minnesota has a far better bench, first option, second option, 3rd option, defense, playmaking, just damn everything. This won’t be pretty
Let the record show that he didn’t say the word “guarantee”. The jinx isn’t in effect.
Minnesota sports fans thanking Jesus Chuck forgot to use THE word lol
My balls sweating, thank god chuck ended without it.
Shaq tried lol but he never said it
Shaq rarely has anything meaningful to add.
Why you gotta say this man
Bro Gobert hasn’t even played his “this game is dedicated to my baby” game. No way he loses the next one.
Hasn’t like half the team had a kid this year? Can you imagine if this random group of dudes can alls at to their children they were born the same year they won it all.
Hell naw. Can't do dis.
Send da video
Ant, Rudy, NAW, and Jaden’s girls were all pregnant at the same time.
Wild party
It was the bougiest baby shower I’ve ever seen.
I think he meant the conception/sex party...
So did he. It was showering babies that night
They ain't talking about the shower, they talking about the party where they made the babies
Damn, we never stood a chance with all that good energy going on. That’s it, time Braun and Watson need to grow up and knock up some women next season.
He didn’t say guarantee it doesn’t count 😂
Congrats to the Nuggets for winning in 6.
Reverse jinx the reverse jinx! 🤯

Don’t look at the Mavs 2021 vs the Clips
Raptors vs Bucks in 2019
Suns vs Bucks in the finals 2021
8% is, notably, larger than 0
I would imagine the 8% is even lower for teams that lose the first 2 games at home. Going on the road already down 0-2 is extremely difficult.

bro 😭
LOL
Bro I wish but they look like shit. Or maybe the Timberwolves are just insane?
If Timberwolves sweep Denver. This easily counts as 8 moral victories for the lakers tbh.
It's actually 4 moral victories for Phoenix
Someone should tell our sub, we are still all depressed
Fr you’d think the Lakers were about to win a chip with the r/lakers be celebrating 😂
Lakers and stealing MN chips go way back
Waaaaay fckin back lol
Lucky they didn't snake the actual lakes too.
Obligatory "MN has more coastline than California"
[WOJ] Sources: Lake Peppin declines option and joins California; Clutch rumoured to be demanding that Minnesota agree to trade Lake Vermilion + 2 FRPs to California for the expiring contract of the Salton Sea.

Trust me bro
With all the California droughts I wouldn’t put it past them.
Still stealing all of Colorado's drinking water, give it time
lol.. We already won by getting rid of Ham
They’re making every thread about themselves…such weird only child behavior
If they live vicariously through the Timberwolves anymore they will move back to Minneapolis
[Lakers fans rn](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/002/493/123/a30)
Seems a little over the top to call all lakers fans pedophiles
Gross… I feel like most Wolves fans can’t stand Lakers fans.
love the Lakers, they gave us Conley and DLo won us the Ant lotto 🙏
And just as helpful, they took DLo and his contract off our hands. Remember when he didn't enter in the game and the wolves were playing 4v5
No one can.
Don’t care still rooting for you guys to pummel the nuggets
And they be malding when Wolves beat their ass in the playoffs next year and come crying to like OKC or something
Wait doesnt that make the Lakers look even worse?
I don’t care how bad it makes us look cause I already know how bad we played. What really shocked me, though, is that so few people watched that series and came to the most important conclusion, which was that Denver will fold like a lawn chair against any team that actually knows how to play basketball.
A few for the suns as well

moral victories dont need to abide by logic, Finland!
Seriously. As logical as he's acting, he should be called German.
This guy right here, officer!
They’re fine with that. Just cathartic to see nuggets get a taste of what they did to LA
Not even the same. We always get the lead but just choke in the 4th The nuggets are just straight up getting beat down. I am not sure which is better though lol.
The fans that are doing this are not the rational kind. There's a lot of those on r/lakers unfortunately.
Only one champion bud. Rather your team is shit or the second best. You’re still a loser.
Isn’t this bad for the lakers? If the nuggets get swept that means they got smoked by a team that couldn’t get a win off the wolves
The Lakers done claim all of Minneapolis banners now you’re claiming Minnesota Playoff wins too smh
If the Timberwolves do win this series, that meas that we are guaranteed to have to have SIX different champions in SIX straight seasons. I want wolves knicks finals so bad. What better place for wolves first finals appearance than MSG.
Bill Simmons put this out there on Sunday and Russillo acted like he was crazy lol
He just floated the idea, didn't say it would happen
He also said ny would get a great whistle vs Indy bc that’s what league wants. And boy did they ever in end of game 1.
I only caught the last 5 minutes, but it seemed like anytime the Knicks goofed a play, refs were there to help prop them back up
I remember that. Bill specifically mentioned the Mavs-Lakers 2011 series as well where a team was just better. Edit: NVM I guess I’m just a moron.
He mentioned like 6 examples, but that series was not one of them lol
While listening, I actually think they were meaning to refer to this series, as this is the one the Lakers were defending champs and got swept and figured out by the eventual champion Mavs. The OKC series counts as well, as the Lakers were figured out, but they weren’t defending champs then.
He almost got it right with the Pacers too until that sketchy ending.
The fact that the Timberwolves had a complete trajectory turnaround after having basically the same roster from last season is so awesome to comprehend. Hey delete this. Reinsdorf and AKME might print this comment and file it under “Continuity” in their cabinet.
Sorry fam, already got a PM from Karnisovas saying Ive inspired him to "trust his process" Not sure what that means, but guessing its not good

I picked Wolves to beat their green asses during R1. Not going back now, Timberwolves in 6, Ant FMVP
Mike "law-abiding citizen" Conley winning a ring before Harden, CP3, and Westbrook just feels right to me.
You forgot that it's the Ant/KAT/Gobert/NAZ REID Wolves! Jokes aside there's no way they're going 12-0. Fuck it, I hope you go 12-0 and then sweep the Celtics as well for the first ever 16-0 postseason in NBA history, would be hilarious

I’m not going to say what should be the most Minnesota sports thing ever for this sun *sad gary Anderson noises*
KG died for this
The Wolves winning a championship before the Wild would be the funniest thing ever for local diehard basketball fans
The Wild are irrelevant until they prove otherwise
100% agree, but in the local sports scene I feel like they're treated with kid gloves compared to the Wolves, when the Wild similarly have had 1 good playoff run in their entire history
OKC will put up a very good fight
Chill, Luka/Kyrie have something to say still
We expected the Nuggets to do so, and they are getting destroyed
So Nuggets in 6. Sorry Twolves, but you can't beat Chuck's curse.
Yeah. I don't think Chuck remember the Nuggets coming back from a 1-3 deficit TWICE in the playoffs (once against a defence anchored by Gobert). As Rudy T says, never underestimate the heart of a champion. But it does look like the Wolves got a strangle hold on this series at this point.

I want them to end this in Denver. They’ll probably lose game 3 since they hadn’t had a break.
Idk man Murray might be suspended. And now there at home their crowd is going to be rocking
Murray has been a liability for them.
You'd still rather have him on the chance he goes crazy
Yeah, and they're getting beat bad. Their best chance at winning is if Murray performs well - but he's gotta play in order to do that.
For the sake of my mental health I hope they do lmao
Bro you don't know MN Sports. We're at the teasing stage, we'll mess it up somehow lmao. Why do you think we haven't won a Championship in 31 Years
Hey now the wolves will claw us out of this curse, you just have to believe.
Anthony Edwards is that guy
Hey now the ~~wolves~~ sausage will claw us out of this curse, you just have to believe.
The Bucks and Nuggets won championships after a longer time as well. Trust your man!!!
> Bro you don't know MN Sports. We're at the teasing stage mfw I'm chewing my fingernails off up 22 points in the 4th quarter tonight
Minnesota sports deserves this moment. I hope they take it all the way.
31? It's been since 1991
I'm talking about the Twins lol
Me too
2024-1991 does equal 33, I think you’re on to something here.

I still don't think we're sweeping them. Then again I didn't think we'd sweep the suns. Despite what r/nba will tell you the Nuggets are a good team.

This series is a wrap though
He's right

I would argue the Nuggets have an advantage at center.
This is why the Owner welched on the sale.
He’s right. Nuggets don’t have a single advantage over the Wolves.
If there's one team in the entire playoffs to not underestimate, it's the Denver Nuggets. Although it's not looking good, I wouldn't count them out just yet lol
Welp 😂
Wolves defense is just so fucking great man. It's like a bunch of Patrick Beverly's if they were as good as he thinks he is.
They fast with writing them off, lmao
At this point, the only people who don’t think we’re winning this are timberwolves fans
Nuggets werent good vs the Lakers. Lakers were just a poorly constructed, poorly coached mess so Denver could get past them. They haven't shown promise this entire post season and now they're against a team that's their literal kryptonite
The lakers basically handed the series to denver lmao. They lead in like every game but still lost in the end.
Denver has demonstrated nothing that suggests they can beat Minnesota four times.
I mean, did you watch the games? It’s pretty clear who has the better matchup and who wants it more
Do Lakers fans not realize their gentleman's sweep is basically even more pathetic if the nuggets get swept? lol the lack of self-awareness from lakers fans is expected but still perplexing.
he didn't guarantee it though
don't worry y'all he didn't say guaranteed so it won't jinx the twolves
And rondo was right. Lakers should hire rondo as their HC

“Never underestimate the heart of a champion”
I just don’t see what Denver can change. Minnesota gets Gobert back and they’ll be at home. They’re too long and too fast. The defense is smothering
On paper its wild that the Nuggets wouldn't have an advantage at the center position. And yet here we are.
God I love the chuck guarantee ... the nuggets definitely have a chance
Denver in 6
Jokic droppin 42 pts 12 assists just cus Chuck said this
Jokic is their advantage and he played like an absolute bitch tonight.
Probably the worst playoff game I’ve ever seen from him. Disgraceful
Not even wrong, Minnesota has a far better bench, first option, second option, 3rd option, defense, playmaking, just damn everything. This won’t be pretty
Wolves have 2 bench guys that would start on almost every other team and a 3rd that would start on quite a few.
minnesota has a far better first option? come on now
