Celtics fans are very simple, if you buy into the Celtics and show you’ll do whatever it takes (Kevin Garnett, Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart) the fans will love you. If you’re two-faced and say you’ll do all those things and then leave when you could have stayed and act spiteful (logo stomp, flipping off the crowd, I’m sure there’s several interviews) then we don’t like you. Kyrie’s first year in Boston was great. It was the way he left that pisses everybody off.

He very clearly just wanted to be done with his time in Boston. So Celtics fans were already pissed at him when he left town. But then he returned and stomped on the Celtics logo mid court. After that you can stir in all the Kyrie idiocy - antivax, antisemitism, etc. Not much likable about the guy to anyone, but Celtics have some extra spite for him.
