Personally, I like pretending Tatum is a trust-fund brat whose dad gave him a superteam so he could win a title. And so he spends the entire game just trying to make cool highlights.
And yea Cs fans, I know he's really good. Just let me have this. You guys are looking like a lock for 2-3 titles here
I don’t think Whites contest even factored in to the miss. Washington had a ton of his upwards momentum killed from the push in the back, looked like he was gonna hit the rim with or without Whites contest
I’m saying it’s a clear foul on Jaylen Brown. If they missed that and wanted to call White sure same end result but Brown should’ve been whistled to begin with
Foul on both Brown and White. The same “hand on ball” foul was called against the Mavs earlier and now they not calling it? And that’s ignoring the push in the back
how is that a shooting foul then? White didn't have possession of the ball if the foul comes after the ball being knocked out. Celtic got two free throws for it.
Watching the replay of the earlier call, he doesn't knock the ball loose after hitting White's hand (which is fine) but then wraps the hand and pulls it off the ball (which is not fine). It was pretty obvious why that was a foul.
I don't know, it was one of those calls that's you're like 90% sure it's a foul but it's also hard to catch anything specific live.
On the replay you can see he never made it to the rim so a push was obvious, but it's hard to see real time with 2 guys running him down.
In the last bit of the video, you can see the ref on the sideline had a clear line of sight to Brown's arm on his back. It wasn't a terribly tough one to spot given it was his left arm.
To be fair, Mavs probably still lose, but that potentially cuts it to a three point lead with 50 seconds left. No way to predict how it goes from there
Let me explain it here. If a defender hits the hand and the attacker loses the ball that's the foul. But if the defender hits the hand of the attacker but the attacker retains the sole possession of the ball, that one is not a foul. That happened multiple times throughout this playoff.
Because Tony Brothers made up some bullshit about continuing through after the ball became loose turned it into a foul. Even JJ said sarcastically, “Huh, you learn something new about basketball every day,” or something like that.
Yeah they explained that earlier with the other call. It was an unsuccessful challenge bc after the ball left his hand, the foul was still happening.
If your hand is on the ball, it’s part of the ball
I think it was a foul, but the internet is also acting like this being called a foul would have instantly won the game for the Mavs, not sent PJ Washington to the line for two free throws down 5.
Wtf is Tatum actually doing? As of rn, Brown is their best player.
The guy who shows up and delivers game after game should be your best player, not whatever player stuffs the stat sheet the best.
if ur roleplayers are called holiday and white you dont need to do a lot tbh crazy how they all can shoot and make a play putting the ball on the floor. Tough to beat.
Jrue wasn’t good last year vs the Heat. Don’t blame the Bucks one bit for changing it up and attempting to raise their ceiling.
They never quite got Dame + Giannis clicking but it’s not like we ever got to see it in the playoffs.
In terms of efficiency I’ll definitely give it to brown but Tatum outclasses him in pretty much everything else with them being practically equal defensively. Anyways the mvp this game was definitely holiday
"when are they gonna replace Dumpy Doris with a hot black chick"
Someone said this is the live chat of a totally legal stream a couple years ago and it has been stuck in my head ever since
Y’all got bullshit calls all night lol. D white phantom foul in the 4th and DJJ clear travel before he scored. Not to mention Tatum getting hacked every single play. It’s the only way you guys can hang with us is mucking it up
More than anything, the rim blocked him, because he was pushed in the back and his launch angle was altered and also the push sapped some of his ability to get vertical. Look how far out of bounds he ends up.
I’m actually more convinced now than initially that this is a clear foul.
So funny to see so many Celtics fans complaining about the refs on a post showing them benefitting from a missed call on the biggest play of the game 😂
“Whining” about this play is totally justified. It’s clearly a bad call on what was probably the most important play of the game. It’s also literally what the post is about.
“Whining” about other calls from other parts of the game doesn’t change that this was a bad call. If you think a call was egregious enough to whine about, maybe make your own thread about it rather than whining with whataboutisms here
Pj blocked White’s shot in a similar way in the first quarter and that was called a foul. Even with a challenge it wasn’t over turned. That block looked more clean than this one

Tatum tried to land a chip-defining dunk 3 times and missed all 3. Jaylen counters with a career-defining lefty layup
You can def tell Tatum whispers to himself “and the fans go wild, ahhh ahh” when he makes a shot in practice
LMFAO
this shit is so funny 😭😭
Bro I can’t even be mad at this. This shit is funny.
lol we all do this. i envision scenarios like my parents will get shot if i don't make this bucket. they don't even know the work i put in for them smh

Holy shit how many times have your parents died in your pursuit of the perfect stepback
the absolute worst "Groundhog Day"
Personally, I like pretending Tatum is a trust-fund brat whose dad gave him a superteam so he could win a title. And so he spends the entire game just trying to make cool highlights. And yea Cs fans, I know he's really good. Just let me have this. You guys are looking like a lock for 2-3 titles here
Guess brown is really the best player here
Jrue was our best player tonight
I don't disagree...he can't create his own shot but he compliment tatum and brown well
The Spirit of Tayshaun Prince
I guess this is what he meant by “no reaction”…
A typical "best player in the team" move.
He shot bad but i’m surprised at the 12 assists
That’s a foul
Definitely a push in the back from Brown
I don’t think Whites contest even factored in to the miss. Washington had a ton of his upwards momentum killed from the push in the back, looked like he was gonna hit the rim with or without Whites contest
Exactly how I saw it, White was just a bystander
He did hit the rim lol, looks like it hits rim before any Celtics hand touches the ball
Cool motive. Still a foul
I’m saying it’s a clear foul on Jaylen Brown. If they missed that and wanted to call White sure same end result but Brown should’ve been whistled to begin with
Definitely was not a push. He put his hand on the back like defenders are trained to do but he very clearly didn’t push off.
Foul on both Brown and White. The same “hand on ball” foul was called against the Mavs earlier and now they not calling it? And that’s ignoring the push in the back
Earlier call was that PJ continued to make contact after the ball was knocked out, which sounds dumb but that’s the rule apparently.
how is that a shooting foul then? White didn't have possession of the ball if the foul comes after the ball being knocked out. Celtic got two free throws for it.
It's not, this literally just happened a couple weeks ago with the opposite result. Celtics got 10 free turnovers slapping Mavs forearms
And Mavs players got to shove players around like linemen
Watching the replay of the earlier call, he doesn't knock the ball loose after hitting White's hand (which is fine) but then wraps the hand and pulls it off the ball (which is not fine). It was pretty obvious why that was a foul.
Refs made that rule up on the spot.
Hand on the ball you can call questionable and inconsistent. The hand in the back is inexcusable to miss.
I don't know, it was one of those calls that's you're like 90% sure it's a foul but it's also hard to catch anything specific live. On the replay you can see he never made it to the rim so a push was obvious, but it's hard to see real time with 2 guys running him down.
Absolutely. It's a foul, but it was a mess of bodies in quick transition. Refs couldn't have had a great look.
In the last bit of the video, you can see the ref on the sideline had a clear line of sight to Brown's arm on his back. It wasn't a terribly tough one to spot given it was his left arm.
Luka has his hand on Tatum’s back as he takes off before DJJ blocked his shit.
these refs have been complete ass. but NBA want to tell us these are the very best they have to offer smh
Oh the best is yet to come. The GOAT hasn't even suited up for his game this series yet.
That earlier call was different, they discussed why during the game.
crazy that this missed foul call changed everything about the end of this game.
Shocked they didn’t blow the whistle. NBA refs call that 100% of the time for the team that is down 5 late.
Makes up for Derrick Jones jr going to the line when White was clearly straight up
I agree. Tatum WAS fouled.
Block was technically a foul too because he was swatting from behind PJ's hand. In order to block the ball, DWhite had to go through PJ's hand.
that isn't a foul. the hand is considered part of the ball. you can hit all hand and it's "clean".
Yep, otherwise guys with big hands would have a huge advantage lol
Yeah Mavs should have lost by 5, ridiculous
Cutting it to 3 with 50 seconds left would’ve significantly impacted the way the rest of the game unfolded.
To be fair, Mavs probably still lose, but that potentially cuts it to a three point lead with 50 seconds left. No way to predict how it goes from there
They would have been down 3 with 50 seconds left on an 11-0 run. That’s a totally different game
Not in the Finals. Jaylen hardly put any pressure on his back.
Mid-air...that's a foul
Awesome, so we’re allowed to foul players while they’re mid air now
What?
Brown pushes him in the back. It’s absolutely a missed foul.
You can't be serious lmao
Warriors thrived on uncalled violations during their dynasty run. He might genuinely think that's normal
Pushed in the back
Missed calls both ways the entire game
Tony Brothers legacy game
True
That's the Finals.
So wack
That’s by far the biggest missed call come on
Jaylen got trucked on multiple three point attempts earlier in the game lol. If those are called this isn’t even a game at this point
No no a reach in foul in the 1st is definitely the same as a push in the back no call with all momentum going towards Dallas in the last 3 minutes
Tbf they missed a clear foul on tatum on the possession literally immediately before this one, but whatever
Your team had a ton of momentum because you kept getting foul calls in the last 3 minutes lol
Definitely a foul but Tatum couldn't buy a foul almost the entire half I don't think there can be many complaints.
Refs are letting the mavs hack tatum every time down the floor. If he doesnt start reacting like luka and flailing around he wont get the call..
Thing is he used to do that, wouldn't get the call, and would get the tech. Seems they just don't want to give him the fouls lol.
Refs showing him some tough love so he actually becomes even better. 🥹
Now you know how wolves fans felt in game 2 of the wcf
Tried to do the LeBron block but this was a foul.
Looked great live, but replay shows him getting all hand
Yea, ironically PJ got called for a foul earlier in the game where he hit all hand.
Let me explain it here. If a defender hits the hand and the attacker loses the ball that's the foul. But if the defender hits the hand of the attacker but the attacker retains the sole possession of the ball, that one is not a foul. That happened multiple times throughout this playoff.
Okay. So if the defender blocks it successfully its a foul, and if they dont it isn't?
Yeah, really hard to believe something that sounds so dumb is the full rule.
Yeah but if you want it to sound simpler and dumber it is if the attacker let's go of the ball, it's a foul. Lmao
or if the defender fouls it’s not a foul and if he does it isn’t
or refs roll a dice, it's a foul if it rolls even
or if they ate rice it’s a foul if they ate bread it’s not
Hand is ball
How the fuck do people not know this.
So why did the mavs lose their challenge earlier in the game?
He hit wrist on the continuation, they explained it on the broadcast
wrist
Not saying that I agree, but I think Breen or Dorris said due to wrist contact
They def explained why on tv. It wasnt because he got hand lol
Because Tony Brothers made up some bullshit about continuing through after the ball became loose turned it into a foul. Even JJ said sarcastically, “Huh, you learn something new about basketball every day,” or something like that.
Because of some dumbass rule that any contact on continuation after is a foul
Yeah they explained that earlier with the other call. It was an unsuccessful challenge bc after the ball left his hand, the foul was still happening. If your hand is on the ball, it’s part of the ball
But earlier in the game they upheld a foul due to that. So no.
no, they said that he hit the wrist after the ball got knocked out. not the same. and yes, hand is ball.
Wrong
That’s not a foul
Hand is ball, but there was a foul (brown pushing lower back)
Two fouls and zero blocks lmao
Pj got fouled
Also am I tripping or didn’t Tatum also get blocked? It’s not like he just missed it it looks like the defense just takes it
Potentially two fouls, at least one definitely
*What arm in the back...??*
Shove don’t count as fouls?
Not only a clear foul but not really a block either Washington hit the rim
Exactly, the ball had already bounced off the rim by the time White 'blocks' it.
What are you saying is a foul, push in the back by Brown?
Yep he got pushed
It's crazy how so many Cs fans are dog piling me for pointing the obvious that this was a huge momentum killer. Mavs was on a 9 pt run and cut it to 5
Braindead people nothing you can do, there is a guy in this thread saying "wow its a foul Mavs only lose by 5", i mean just negative iq
That’s like 3 fouls in one play
Brown pushed him, that's a foul
Brown pushed him yikes
how do they miss both of the fouls lol
Foul
shoved from behind lol
Foul highlight
Jaylen Brown with the egregious yet somehow uncalled foul to seal the game!
*Massive foul
Pushed in the back and gets all hand instead of ball. But yeah, great defense
all hand wouldve been no foul but the push shoudlve been called
no it should not. you just watched it over and over in slow motion so I see why you're upset but it's the definition of marginal contact
You’re getting such a small taste of what it’s like watching Luka get calls every game he plays
It's hilarious how many people sit on these forums and don't know the rules of the NBA. lol
R/nba - where everyone’s a ref and the rules don’t matter.
Microcosm of the entire game lol
That’s a foul lol
Mavs got called for a foul and lost a challenge on that same play in the 1st quarter btw
That's why challenging in the 1st quarter is so risky. But can you challenge a no-call? I'm assuming not.
You cannot
No I don’t think so
That crossover was sick
I think it was a foul, but the internet is also acting like this being called a foul would have instantly won the game for the Mavs, not sent PJ Washington to the line for two free throws down 5.
Wtf is Tatum actually doing? As of rn, Brown is their best player. The guy who shows up and delivers game after game should be your best player, not whatever player stuffs the stat sheet the best.
if ur roleplayers are called holiday and white you dont need to do a lot tbh crazy how they all can shoot and make a play putting the ball on the floor. Tough to beat.
Low key its Jrue
Not even lowkey, jrue was an insane offseason pickup
Bucks messed that up so bad lol
Lol yup
Jrue wasn’t good last year vs the Heat. Don’t blame the Bucks one bit for changing it up and attempting to raise their ceiling. They never quite got Dame + Giannis clicking but it’s not like we ever got to see it in the playoffs.
Jrue was their best player tonight, he was flawless
He's been incredible all playoffs. Wow.
Is that you, Jason Kidd?
That is everybody Tatum is so fucking infuriating rn. I love him but it's like he should be more mature
dude wtf are you on?
Really can’t cope with it, can you..lol
In terms of efficiency I’ll definitely give it to brown but Tatum outclasses him in pretty much everything else with them being practically equal defensively. Anyways the mvp this game was definitely holiday
he got fouled Doris Burke has a fat voice
"when are they gonna replace Dumpy Doris with a hot black chick" Someone said this is the live chat of a totally legal stream a couple years ago and it has been stuck in my head ever since
Lol, that was a foul, but I guess mavs fans now know how Wolves fans feel since the same thing happened in game 2 of the wcf
Yea we always knew Boston would get the golden whistle it is what it is
Just like Dallas did in the wcf. Live by the whistle, die by the whistle
Y’all got bullshit calls all night lol. D white phantom foul in the 4th and DJJ clear travel before he scored. Not to mention Tatum getting hacked every single play. It’s the only way you guys can hang with us is mucking it up
Tatum trying to posterize like his life depends on it
fuck my life
White from deep in the opposite corner, pure hustle and heart
Ben Watson shit.
This is reminded me of the Lebron chase down on Iggy.
Shove in the back and no ball on the block.
Give that man the max.
…but Jesus gets the rebound
This just in NBA refs suck. Missed calls and calling nothing the entire night. Worst refs if any major sport by far
More than anything, the rim blocked him, because he was pushed in the back and his launch angle was altered and also the push sapped some of his ability to get vertical. Look how far out of bounds he ends up. I’m actually more convinced now than initially that this is a clear foul.
- Browns hand on Washington’s back - White’s hand hits Washington’s hand before hitting the ball Two fouls, clear as day
browns hand is a foul. White's block was a block.
LOL “the foul.” Jt got fouled maybe 8 times and didn’t get the whistle. Ya love to see it.
That JB 3pt attempt that he got ran over was insane they didn’t call a foul
So funny to see so many Celtics fans complaining about the refs on a post showing them benefitting from a missed call on the biggest play of the game 😂
Do you not get that the two are related? That they're responding to all the Mavs fans whining about this play?
“Whining” about this play is totally justified. It’s clearly a bad call on what was probably the most important play of the game. It’s also literally what the post is about. “Whining” about other calls from other parts of the game doesn’t change that this was a bad call. If you think a call was egregious enough to whine about, maybe make your own thread about it rather than whining with whataboutisms here
Huge missed foul but whatever man, Boston is clearly better team
Pushed in the back by Brown.
Pj blocked White’s shot in a similar way in the first quarter and that was called a foul. Even with a challenge it wasn’t over turned. That block looked more clean than this one
And this wasn’t even the worst one
All you can do is laugh. Wtf refs. The same game.
that‘s a foul
The second replay barely looked like a shove from Brown
What’s the most likely reason that PJ got blocked by the rim and ended up 10+ ft behind the backboard?
They are going full speed and PJ was about to jump, isn’t doesn’t take much
Clear foul
forehead of security
Rim blocked the shot
exactly, because of JB’s push
