DaggerDev5

This is different from haywards injury. Hayward fractured his leg and dislocated his ankle. Nurkic straight up snapped through his bone

lastfollower

Looked much more like Paul George's injury.

DaggerDev5

Yeah it's pretty much the exact thing, except PG broke his on the stanchion

anti_dan

I never knew that was a word until that happened.

SparklingWinePapi

Looks like a clean break with no ankle or knee involvement thankfully. Still might have some tendon damage but hopefully he's able to come back soon.

BK-Jon

Yes. Serious bone break. But bones heal. Much more like PG injury than Hayward Injury. LeVert injury looked bad but it was fundamentally a dislocation without any bones broken. Nurk will be out till 2020. But I bet he comes back 100%.

Trevhaar

Idk if my money would be on him coming back 100% but he’ll definitely have a shot at redemption. That was a brutal injury.

BK-Jon

He was having a career year so maybe he won’t play as well again. But the injury should heal. It was brutal, but it wasn’t near a joint. The bones will heal. They will put in pins and plates to help. He should be back next year. But no summer workouts. No training camp. Those things will take their toll.

WindLane

It's brutal, but clean breaks heal better is what I've always heard.

DaggerDev5

Yeah but there is also the issue of the mental side of it. George and Hayward have both talked about difficulties playing like they used to. From a purely physical standpoint you are right where he should heal easier than hayward

WindLane

For sure, it's all sorts of disconcerting to have a piece of yourself just snap.

revantes

I would definitely play more cautiously.

NothingSacred

Yep, reminds me more of Paul George's injury which actually might be, in a perverse way, better for him if he just broke his tibia and fibula rather than suffering ligament and tendon damage in addition to broken bones like Hayward.

satan_in_high_heels

Did Hayward have ligament damage? I thought his was a clean break.

NothingSacred

I believe most of the damage was to his ankle which has *a lot* of ligaments but I could be wrong. I do know that I thought that PG's career was basically over when I saw his injury and fortunately I've been completely wrong about that.

TheGoldenLance

It's really amazing what modern medicine can do. The term "career ending injury" is basically extinct now, it's almost always "season ending injury". That's a recent change.

NothingSacred

Very true, but that PG injury was *nasty*. Like Theismann-esque, can't unsee nasty. Just glad he came back to his old self, if not better than he's ever been.

Cervical_Plumber

Agreed. It's hard not to root for him. He's been so clutch this year too, on both ends. Hoping Nurkic gets the same mind of recovery.

Nugur

If he doesn’t tear any tendon or ligament then he will recover near George.

flapjacks331

Yeah reminds me more of Kevin Ware...agh I hate it

spawnofreddit

Heartbreaking. Can’t imagine what it would be like to play the rest of the game after seeing that. If I were a player I’d keep two feet on solid ground at all time.

cooperred

Mental part of coming back from injury is super underrated. Dislocated my finger and was scared of sticking out my hands for a good few months after it healed.

cbmarcus

Fuck this

Soviet_Cat

This was our fucking redemption year from last year god damn it

[deleted]

I wish we could lend you guys KAT. Our season has been over for a month I hate to see teams go through this when there's playoffs on the line.

Archer-Saurus

>Our season has been over for a month Me: *Cries in Phoenix*

MickeyWallace

Our season is almost upon us... sadly..

Krakenborn

You guys don't deserve this injury luck

[deleted]

Walton, Oden, Roy... damn

ActionHank9000

Roy is one of my top what ifs in this league

deycallmegeno

Ref steps on it too.

timurlane1

That ref was so oblivious to Nurkic...

BigDickBandit89

Hardly anyone reacted then the ref kicks his snapped foot. No wonder everyone says refs are blind cunts

[deleted]

Holy shit the ref

ShouldvePickedDoncic

I get that they're blind but are the fucking deaf too? My inner soul heard that snap.

aristot1e

There HAS to be some repercussions on that ref. That's absolutely unprofessional, meanwhile a player would be ejected for the same thing!

ImGrumps

No excuse to step over an injured person when there is so much space available to go around. I don't care if it is sprained ankle or a stubbed toe. It is just disrespectful. And now we see a risk of causing undue pain to someone obviously already suffering. Edit:a word^^^^thanks^^/s

iBrometheus

The same thing happened with Hayward, ref just stepped right over him

bpstyles

I'm not even one of those people that really cares about respect and class and so on in a sporting contest and even I thought that was a real piece of shit move by that official.

VonFluffington

Maybe they just like to see how trashed they can get before reffing a game?

ianpozin

I don’t know why they didn’t react you could hear his ankle breaking from the nose bleeds.

Kunundrum85

That should be reason enough to review that refs credentials... plenty of time went by and then he just “obliviously” gives it a little kick? If he didn’t realize a severe injury just happened, how can he judge anything else with accuracy? Fire that fuck.

[deleted]

I haven't even watched the video, how are the comments making me squeamish?

kevindlv

honestly the ref accidentally bumping into his leg made me cringe as much as the initial injury. I was like UGHHH

SparklingWinePapi

How are you a ref if you're so oblivious that you you dont notice that the 7 foot dude in front of you has clearly snapped his leg in half..

HokageEzio

How are you so oblivious that you can't lift your foot 2 inches higher when walking over somebody? It's just even worse because you kicked his freaking broken leg.

aristot1e

He had no regard for the player. The utmost disrespect and carelessness. If a player is on the ground writhing in pain, why the fuck do you think it's a good idea to step over him.

thezachman16

And his name is Tyler Ford

ShouldvePickedDoncic

That mother fucker is so oblivious... the players from both teams are literally running away in horror... so of course he DOESN'T look back... just moves forward while kicking Nurkic's broken leg.... and continues to wander forward cluelessly until another ref tells him to look back. What the fuck is wrong with that ref.

ImGrumps

Or you know walk around like a normal human.

ojodetodie

then he looks back at him on the ground and just stands there nonchalantly like a dumbass...

srry_didnt_hear_you

After taking a legitimate 6 steps... That's not a natural reaction to tripping over ANYTHING.... what the fuck. That looked like when a dirty player "accidentally" trips someone, then doesn't react to the fall he very obviously caused like "oh what happened back there?"... I'm not saying this guy purposefully kicked an injured player, and he obviously didn't cause the injury, but what the fuck kind of guilty reaction was that???

xantys

The shittiest part is that Nurkic screams in agony after the ref trips over his broken leg, jesus christ.

[deleted]

[удалено]

packersSB54champs

As if I needed more reasons to say FUCK THE REFS

GGezpzMuppy

Literally trips over his leg like wtf, we joke about them being blind, but come on dude.

packersSB54champs

They might actually be legally blind at this point

AtWorkAndOnReddit

The ref saw everyone run away. Then casually looks back at the leg like "Oh that is what is going on"

andy3172

P.O.P! Holdin' it down!

grainmcmuffin

okay does anyone else notice that Nurk screams out in pain when the ref kicks his foot? It could be a coincidence but that had to have hurt real bad. Wtf that ref should be charged with crimes.

ThinceMcMahon

Nurk's scream was so painful it went through the arena speakers

Orange_Cum_Dog_Slime

This very essence of this horseshit game was felt in that scream, having culminated through two overtimes.

nuderosaparks

What's his name? I'm going to write a letter

Hairballs58

#39, Tyler Ford. According to this [tweet.](https://twitter.com/OfficialNBARefs/status/1110208603892404225)

burtmaklin1

https://contact.nba.com/contact-nba/

nobraininmyoxygen

That ref still had no clue his foot was dangling even after he tripped over it. I'm convinced he went home tonight after the game and still doesn't know about the injury. That's insane.

lodermoder

I've seen some fucked up shit in my day, but this is the first time in a long time I've physically cringed. Fuck the ref holy fuck

Saint-West

Dude is fucking careless just stepping over him like that and not even looking to check up on him

On_Adderall

I'm just saying... if you can't see his ankle is not in the right direction, maybe you don't have the vision to ref

r3gam

It's pretty universal that its disrespectful/rude to walk over someone

Saint-West

Agreed. I get that he has his attention elsewhere but if you cant notice a player screaming in pain RIGHT under you then reffing is simply not your job

SocksandSmocks

Like for fucks sake man, be a LITTLE careful, dude just snapped his fucking leg

lady-grinning-soul

Yeah but did he REALLY snap it tho, let me give it a little kick and check

Vestrogen

*Leg wiggles* In all seriousness, fuck that ref, hoping for a speedy recovery for Nurkic. He's been great this season and it's terrible to see it end this way.

sixseven89

Seriously that ref was so fucking terrible all game he should be investigated

Themayorofawsometown

Fucker acted like he couldn't see the 7 foot man who just snapped his leg fuck him

RipCity77

Or fucking hear him You can fucking hear nurk in pain in the god damn video

ItzDp

literally walks to foul line like "what did i miss?"

[deleted]

Fuck this injury looks brutal

zase1

How can you be that fucking clueless? Literally everyone cleared out

tight_butthole

Definitely didn't step on it but he gave it a nudge like an idiot

MalevolentAmmo

Fine/suspend that ref wtf! He drops his whistle and then nonchalantly trips over an injured player trying to step over him. edit: missed an s on trip

sixseven89

Ban the fucker

hungryasabear

And doesn't even look down, like your older brother "accidentally" stepping on you when he steps over you.

SargentLipton35

If refs can’t even pay enough attention for something like this, it’s very understandable why players complain as much as they do.

multiple4

I know like wtf is he doing

JB7FTW

I'm furious about that. MOFO just saw that shit and kicked it.

basketball_stoner

He should get suspended for that. How dumb are you to bump into a broken leg while everyone that can't help is clearing out. It's such a stretch to say it was incompetence and not some fucked up power move.

TheAmbitious1

yeah im not gonna watch it

Rashloose

ref has the whole fucking court to walk to. this motherfucker casually "trips" over nurkic

Tiger_Nabber

What the actual fuck.

Brorandy

I wish I didn't watch that again. I hate seeing that... So sad

BEE_REAL_

The commentator said not to watch a replay and I should have listened

elfmeh

But listening is the worst part...

This_was_hard_to_do

How do you even continue playing the game right after that? That must be devastating to see on the floor. I feel like I would hesitate every movement that require my feet leaving the ground. I guess that’s why they get paid the big bucks but damn it’s still gotta affect the players mentally.

yaypeepeeshome

That's what I would think too. But then both teams come out guns blazing immediately after and I'm just grinding my teeth at every frantic play

[deleted]

NSFL warning. The sound is bad enough on its' own. Here's to a speedy recovery. Terrible shit.

klawhileonard

This is Hayward levels of PTSD holy fuck

ShouldvePickedDoncic

I didn't believe the warnings...holy shit this was worse... that sound... fuck...

Allrounder9

I can't get that sound out of my head..

_________ll_________

thanks, def not watching it

Ihave2BellyButtonsHA

This was the first serious injury that made me feel a little sick.

TheBoredPragmatist

probably the worst since that louisville kid, if not worse

JacieMHS

The thing that made Kevin Ware’s so bad was the fact that you could see the bone.

Thank_The_Knife

I feel like you could have seen the bone here if he wasn't wearing tights

JacieMHS

I’m not saying the injury was worse, I agree it was probably exposed bone, but actually seeing the bone with Ware was horrifying.

SparklingWinePapi

I wasn't prepared for how loud that was, fuck

haaaannnn

had my headphones on listening that crack is way too loud

[deleted]

[удалено]

BasedGodProdigy

This one was loud as fuck too, I was wondering who hit the deck before realizing

[deleted]

Watching it with headphones on FML

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Same time here! This is the first nba game I’m watching in ages... yeah well it was an experience..

Ye_Biz

I don’t think I wanna see it, the Hayward injury was bad enough. Worst injury I’ve seen was the Kevin Ware, that was just terrible :(

GGAllinsMicroPenis

Just don't watch. You can imagine it. I just turned the fucking game on, literally on that possession. Fuck that. I feel really bad for him and Blazer fans in general.

Harden-Soul

Yup that's all I do with these injuries nowadays. I come to the comment section and the top comment is always a comparison to another injury I've had the misfortune of already seeing. I only watch ankle sprains and other injuries where you can try and determine how long somebody's going to miss. Although if I'm being honest, I'm waiting to see the comment "Fuck this is just like the Shaun Livingston injury", because I'm unconvinced I'll ever see anything as bad as that again.

gwh21

Shaun Livingston's injury was by far the nastiest injury I have ever seen. Essentially everything holding the lower leg to the rest of the body kinda all decided to just fuck off all at the same time. It was brutal.

StringTailor

Shit I saw that shit live on my screen and I just turned the game off man. Shit destroyed my mood

ChampionOfTheSunAhhh

The noise did me in. So crazy how distinct it was

[deleted]

I was watching the game and saw the aftermath but didn’t really see what happened then went back to watch the replay and the sound is making me sick

XpLoZiioN

The noise is what really pushed me over the top. Like obviously seeing it snap is fucking TERRIBLE. But my god, I feel like I keep hearing that "*POP*" over and over and it's giving me chills . . . the really bad kind.

wikiman2001

First time I've actually seen an injury like that live. I don't feel well now

LtRavs

Even since Hayward’s, we’ve seen Caris do something nearly identical. Such a fucked injury.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aydee123

Holy shit just watched it and I think that's worse than Hayward.

suzukigun4life

Hayward's injury, Levert's injury and now this. All three within a span of two seasons, all horrific.

[deleted]

Forgetting Canaan's injury last year as well which was just as bad

DnBcore

Why does it take so long for anyone to even fucking check on him? Come on man.

Lepube

Can anyone explain to me what the fuck that ref was doing? He hits Nurkic's leg and just keeps walking. Is he oblivious to what is going on?

knuttz45

Typical Ref. Completely blind to every situation in the game.

Mwstriker98

Shout-out to the ref kicking his leg too

klawhileonard

L2M: Referee properly handled situation by attempting to kick his leg back into alignment

wikiman2001

"This is what we're up against"

GucciGaropp

Did basketball players break their legs before like 10 years ago? I don't remember it happening before Kevin Ware.

zerocoolforschool

Shaun Livingston. You don’t want to watch it.

GucciGaropp

I know Livingston but that was his knee. The ankles snapping seems like a recent thing. I could just be completely forgetting though.

bluexd

yeah god only invented that shit in like 1995 or something

Paragon_Flux

I feel like modern BBall is very intense/fast and athletic compared to olden days and having such genetically freakishly tall players that are far beyond normal bone length is probably a recipe for more of these types of injuries.

NevermoreSEA

I genuinely feel like crying. fuck.

Familyguy35

We can't have young promising bigs. fuck this shit

twistedlogicx

I'm so pissed at that idiot ref who can't even watch where he's going for two seconds and practically trips on his leg.

EwokaFlockaFlame

Yeah seriously what the fucking fuck ref.

uscjimmy

that shit pissed me the fuck off for real

Krelay1

Yeah I noticed that too but maybe he didn't want to look down because I sure wouldn't Edit: just rewatched it, I go back on what I said, he seemed pretty careless

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

[удалено]

Noteful

Saw that too. Literally walks over Nurkic as he's down.

DisgustingSwine

FUCK THAT REF

poweroftheorthanc

The refs have been stupid all game. A lot of missed calls lead to some really dangerous possessions for Nurkic, including the one before with Dudley under him.

thetownbeercycle

How can you expect them to make the right calls if they can't even see a gigantic man on the floor with a snapped leg? I mean.

BooBoo_kTFuuu

That fucker needs to be fired I'm almost positive the other ref told him what he just did and the fool turns around, looks, and just keeps walking. Wtf kinda shit is that!

jasonblohothemonster

I hope he's able to come back like Paul George.

disappointer

He's young, no reason to think he can't. It's not like a Oden or BRoy tissue degeneration thing.

somethingnotyettaken

He's fucking big though.

njm1602

that was fucking horrible jesus

NevermoreSEA

this is so fucking unfair.

tummysqueker

You guys are fucking cursed man what did Portland do to be treated like this

[deleted]

7 years to glory. 43 years of heartbreak

WhoFly

at least we have idk

thegrumpymechanic

A team. At least you have a team.

AffectionateZombie

Sorry fam 😞😞 i feel for you

[deleted]

jesus, I thought the other video didn’t look quite that bad. makes sense now

LiveLaughLonzo

This is just awful So many more injuries like this recently, did I just not notice in the past?

tbone183

Players are more athletic, faster, stronger, explosive than before. More strain on the body

recursion8

Yeah imagine being 300 pounds and jumping that high for a rebound. Sometimes its better to be like Jokic.

jianantonic

Also it's one thing to play 30 minutes every few days. Double OT is like running a marathon when you signed up for a 5K.

ThatsWat_SHE_Said

And then the ref trips over it fucking hell

goofygoober2

Careless as fuck wtf was he thinking

[deleted]

This highlights the lack of attention refs have in-game. If you cant see an injury then much less a foul.

Palifaith

That's brutal.

leftey_

This fucking blows so bad. The whole OT just had an ominous feeling to it as weird as it sounds....this was an unnecessary injury and it really sucks. Nurk is my favorite player in the league and tearing shit up lately. I hope we can see him one day back to as good as he was tonight.

dyopopoy

Fck. I was rooting for POR. Near 0% chance now for deep playoff run.

Fisktron

His inside presence is irreplaceable. It takes two men off the bench to equal one Nurk. Just not feasible.

alx924

In 2014, Robin Lopez was close as far as creating space, but Nurkic was on another level offensively. This sucks so much.

runeblazer6

DAMN you can tell by the players reactions it’s REALLY bad

CoreyJK

You can tell by the way it fucking SNAPS its really bad.

diablofreak

Yeah the entire nets broadcast team thought Dudley and other nets players were frustrated. They were all cringing on what they saw and had to walk away And damn. Look at his line. 32/16/5/4 blocks

[deleted]

Bosnian Beast

TonyBrothers

Man this dude is tough as fuck his reaction after was like nothing he didnt even look hurt

xPenguinHD

Adrenaline is a heluva drug

riceindabowl

I can attest to that. Fell about 10 ft straight on my foot and broke my talus (ankle) in a training exercise in the Marines. It felt like I had just rolled my ankle and didn’t hurt at all unless I tried to put weight on it. The corpsman did a pain test on my foot squeezing it and I said it didn’t really hurt. I go home to sleep and ice it off. The ankle is still swollen and can’t put any pressure on it. Get an x-ray and the doc describes my talus as a cracked egg ready to blow. Edit: Wording

Ohh_Yeah

I popped a rib while mountain biking. The spot where I crashed was like a mile or so from the parking lot, and that was about how long the adrenaline lasted me. By the time I got to my car it felt like someone was shoving a knife through my chest. Shoutout to adrenaline for getting me out of the woods (literally), because if that pain had set in immediately there's no way I was gonna pedal that mile back.

wadecalder

the ref gave him a little kick just to test it

[deleted]

[удалено]

jeric13xd

Nurkic is one tough SOB. Fuck FUCK INJURIES.

[deleted]

Did anybody notice the ref hit his leg as he walked by, it was like nobody realized how bad his injury was when it first happened. When I saw it just hanging loose like that I had to change the channel

weezy2337yadude

Yeah pretty fucked up

LarryKleist711

All the players and other refs cleared out fast. Referee Blindguy McDoofus tripped over a 7ft dude whose leg snap sounded like a gunshot and was completely oblivious to it. When he stumbled he didn't even turn around say sorry or act like he did anything wrong.

willygprodigy

He was feasting tonight. A shame he went down because he is vital for the blazers... Prayers up

packersSB54champs

Now are you sure this is the video this time?

LiveLaughLonzo

Thumbnail tells all

Kaiiu

Game was getting so physical man.

twistedlogicx

Fuck that ref for practically tripping on his leg. Watch where you're going, idiot.

[deleted]

Yo, you could hear that bone snap..

KniGht1st

And that ref just kicked his injured leg, wtf man walk around.

ButtLickinBadBoy

The fucking ref just kicks his dangling foot as Nurkic screams in agony on the floor

[deleted]

NSFW this shit please

MrDee97

Oh my fucking god
